I'm a full believer of the fact that if Luz is supposed to be a mirror of modern fantasy stories then the Wittebane brothers should be a mirror of older fairytales. Which is a correct opinion to have btw

Anakin truly set out the goal to marry Padmé as soon as he first laid his eyes on her. He didn't even interact with her that much to come to the conclusion that he wanted to wed her. As soon as they met again 10 years later, he wasted no time and put a ring on that finger. They didn't even take at least a month; they went straight to marriage. Their romance is essentially a Disney fairytale 😅❤️

#anakin skywalker #padme amidala #star wars #pt #meta #sw meta #txt #my characters differ from them in many ways but they too got married just a week after meeting each other #it was love at first sight #anakin had love at first sight padme didn' for obvious reasons but she still developed a fondness for anakin #it wasn't until anakin was already an adult that she went “oh damn you are hot now”#mine originally met each other as children (of the same age) but i eventually decided to change it to when they were already in their 20's #he is 3 years older than her. i changed it to make it even more fairytale-ish #they are the only couple in my story that experienced love at first sight #the rest have a more “realistic” approach to romance and took their time until they decided to get married #but these two? oh yeah they got married even though they just met #i know elsa would reprimand my oc for marrying a man she just met but i'm sorry but he is fine af and would do anything for anybody #it's a fairytale it's not meant to be taken literally in many ways #it's not a realistic depiction of reality but it teaches you about reality it's meant to be a metaphor more than anything #i went off a tangent again but yes #anakin and padme's relationship is essentially a fairytale #star wars is a fairytale it contains a good chunk of the elements. it's just deeper more detailed and extensive but the core is the same #anyway ramble over

amy pond is antigone and rory is haemon and 11 is polynices

by all accounts theres no reason why she CAN'T have a complete, fulfilling life with rory but there is no version of this story where she can give up 11. it's encoded into her character.

rory is perhaps the right choice, but amy can't not wait for the doctor. antigone is given so many outs from creon and ismene, but she can't not bury polynices.

even if it means she can't have haemon. even if it kills her. even if it stagnates her. the girl who marries haemon and leaves her brother to rot is not antigone. there is no amy that isn't shaped by the doctor.

"simon and grace were put in the same position and grace decided to change but simon never did so its his fault that he died" but this misses the whole point that while obviously simon was a bad person by the end (he KILLED PEOPLE he was a manipulative and terrible person) HE NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THAT POSITION IN THE FIRST PLACE

his entire character and story is about how the train continously traumatizes people and makes them worse instead of helping them. simon was a nine year old kid who got a bad grade on a spelling test and yeah maybe he was a little bratty or a coward BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN he deserved the trauma of being stolen from his family and everything he'd known in the world at a young age, almost dying and being betrayed by the first person he ever trusted on the train (talking abt samantha not grace)

like maybe if he never got on the train he would have grown up to be a Functioning normal adult and maybe even a good person but he had that life stolen from him bcuz of forces outside of his control and its a commentary on how the train destroys people and how this is not a fair system. and obviously it wasn't fair for grace EITHER it wasnt fair that she got her childhood and adolesence stolen from her like that and that she never gets to see her family again, its not fair that simon died when he was barely even an adult and his family will never know what happened to him or where he went. the train is an inherently flawed and destructive system and the people who DO get the help they need and leave better than they came are not at all the majority

book three was all about how the train destroys and controls people's lives and how that affects them going into the future, in amelia's (and kez's friend whose name i forget) case its about how it can sometimes allow a passanger to avoid facing their situation or reality instead allowing them to run away from a fantasy world where they can learn a moral lesson using quirky fun hijinks and sidekicks. or maybe they don't

ALL THIS BECAUSE SIMON GOT A BAD GRADE ON A SPELLING TEST

#and its even worse when you understand infinity train as a parody of the class escapism fantasy fairytale like alice in wonderland #infinity train is such a good and nuanced series with some of the best worldbuilding and i will forever be pissed that it was cancelled #when there was SO MUCH more they could have explored #txt #infinity train

Why did we as a society feel the need to discontinue ever after high

#like think about it their biggest shtick is the royals vs rebels thing but at the end of the day neither side is good or bad?#like. I don’t think they pushed ‘rebels good royals bad’ from what I remember? they are literally Teens making their own decisions at the #end of the day. Raven is a rebel bc she doesn’t want to inherit her moms legacy and wants to be a good person without her destiny deciding #what kind of person she should be #and apple stays on the royals bc she’s content with her destiny probably even looking forward to it #and that’s fine they have their reasons! I don’t know I just think that’s really cool #and yeah sometimes there’s like actual antagonists but they didn’t make it so one WHOLE side was better and the other was bad #it was a really nice gray area like some royals and rebels were mean but that didn’t make all of the rebels mean. they’re just people #also I think I remember Ashlynn changed from royal to rebel and I think that’s cool. your goals can change and you shouldn’t feel pressured #to keep pretending to be something that doesn’t fulfill you as a person yanno?#also touched on more niche fables like the three billy goats gruff and the pied piper instead of #Disney promoting their own takes on fairytales. I dunno it just gets boring after awhile for me #idk I just felt like getting that out bc my friend is asleep and normally I would tell her this bc she got me into eah when we were kids #yapping #txt #eah #ever after high

watched john wolfe play brothers: a tale of two sons and realizing just how well done bramble: the mountain king was in comparison. like the latter would not exist without the former, and brothers is definitely a respectable game and by no means bad, but bramble is just doing everything it does so much better. like down to the visuals and sound design.

#.txt #i think that bramble does the whole 'going from a wholesome fairytale into something super dark' thing a lot better #like the transition between the more wholesome stuff and dark stuff is smooth #in brothers it feels a lot more jarring. like john described it as a tonal whiplash n i think that makes sense #and i dont think brothers ever ends up being as dark as it couldve been #like theres definitely dark stuff but its not enough to make the transition from wholesome fairytale effective #like when bramble gets dark it gets Dark dark u know #brothers never ends up feeling as impactful n sad as the devs clearly wanted it to #its very 'dont you feel sad rn? isnt it sad how this character died? isnt it awful?' u know #and yea the sound n visuals in brothers is fine. they do their job well enough #but again comparing it to bramble u start to realize just how cool n interesting they were in that game
