Time’s actually like 32 and is just really committed to the bit of being ancient

Sky is horrific at making new friends. he grew up with the same small group of people, so he never learned how to make friends with complete strangers because there simply wasn’t the need to. so, when he first starts traveling with the chain, he makes little wooden charms for them because he isn’t entirely sure how else to get close with them. Zelda always enjoyed his woodcarvings, so maybe they will too??

as a result, the entire chain has little trinkets made by Sky. on Legend’s bag there’s charms hanging off the straps, and Twilight wears his as necklaces (both because it looks cool as fuck and it helps the shadow crystal stand out less). yes Wind has specifically commissioned him to make something for Aryll

yeah yeah bunny Legend but consider: the mermaid suit (which I like to think is more of a curse bc get fished pink man <3) giving him some marine animal qualities as well. no matter what tho that bitch is an Ariel kinnie, they’re collecting all the shiny shit they can find

the witches in Legend’s era adore him. Grandma Syrup dotes on him, Maple is like a teasing older sister, and Irene is like a teasing younger sister. this is where he learned most of his magic skills from, and he takes all potentially enchanted or cursed items to them to check out. he’ll never admit it, but Legend finds lots of comfort in all of them, as they’re one of the few people who’ve stayed in his life this long.

Wild’s a pretty good medic!! during his adventure, he very quickly realized how dangerous infection is, so they learned about a lot of home remedies and medicinal herbs, as well as how to tend to a wound from other travelers at stables and inns. he didn’t really get a choice in learning, considering how he probably got stung or bit by painful insects or accidentally brushed up against painful plants a lot during the early days of their adventure, and thus showed up to stables covered in rashes and hives and such, causing every decent person in the area to flock to them and try to help. their Hyrule is very sweet, okay?

they’re not the only one who’s well acquainted with medicinal herbs, though! while I think all of them would have a basic understanding, Time, Hyrule, Warriors, and Wind would know a lot. dw i’m elaborating

Time quite literally grew up in the forest, was raised by a tree, and had actual forest spirits for siblings—he knows his plants. he and Saria would peel willow bark and collect dandelions together

I like to think that Hyrule being half-fae makes him very sensitive to all magic-based auras, including that of plants, so they’re very good at picking out the healing herbs, even if they’re not quite sure what they’re called

listen ok hear me out about Warriors. young Time was appalled that he knew jackshit about nature and forcefully taught him. also, before modern medicine, medicinal plants were used all the fucking time on the battle field. yarrow, an herb that stops bleeding and prevents infection, is called soldiers’ woundwort because of this. i mention this because he was probably concerned about the health and safety of his troops, so he learned what the medics were doing and using.

Wind grew up on a small, tight-knit island, realistically they would’ve had to have learned how to use the things around them to their fullest advantage. that being said, his knowledge is sort of useless outside of his own era, aside from what he was taught in the war. ok i’m done talking about medicinal herbs now i promise sorry it’s a hobby of mine ahhsjdka

Legend’s terrified of dogs. in Link’s Awakening, the dogs are literally balls on chains with huge mouths full of sharp teeth (basically just Chain Chomps). if you want to get angsty with it: it comes from guard dogs being sent after him on his first adventure. he became a lot less scared to more he spent time with BowBow (the ball and chain dog) but, when he woke up, he got the belief that he could only be safe around a dog in his dreams. he’s pretty damn uncomfortable around Wolfie at first, but after lots of time and learning to trust Twilight, he’s able to slowly overcome his fear. sort of. mostly just with Wolfie. he still hates staying at stables in Wild’s Hyrule.

if Wild doesn’t want to explain/source something he’ll just say it came to him via divine intervention. Sky believes it every single time

I was thinking about Legend’s story a while ago and realized it was kind of similar to Joan of Arc’s so take that as you will. idk if this even counts as a headcanon but i’m putting it here

Warriors and Twilight are really close friends because they both understand the struggles of wrangling dirt worshipping nature freaks. anytime Twilight (lovingly) complains about Wild, Wars will counter with whatever asinine feral child antics young Time got up to and suddenly Twi will feel very blessed and lucky

whenever Four sees someone with their hair in a high ponytail he subconsciously thinks they’re very smart and respectable because Dot always wears her hair in a high ponytail

Hyrule is completely fine with not sleeping on a bedroll. they like the dirt, actually. let them sleep in the dirt.

Legend uses apples in his red potions, both to increase their potency and to make them taste better. he also learned how to enchant apples to be healing on their own so sometimes when someone’s hurt he’ll just shove an apple in their face

Don't mind me casually following the fellas who put this quality hanahaki content on my dash, absolutely thriving right now and thinking about if I made some art myself what it may be like. In the meanwhile simply lamenting the fact that I can't quite imagine Neon J himself struggling with something like this in the nsr era- at best, the potential of being familiar with it from before, but he strikes me as direct enough that he wouldn't let feelings linger long enough to develop.

I'm not too familiar with Neon J since I focus on 1010 waaaaay more lmfao, but whatever floats your boat!! the fun part about NSR being purposefully vague is that ppl can fill in with their own theories and headcanons!!

like, you could deffo characterize Neon J as someone aware of the disease, but too direct and straightforward to experience it himself in any meaningful way so it just goes under his radar most of the time (heh...........radar......heh). or just straight up forgetting about his experiences with hanahaki before becoming a cyborg and all, if you wanna include that one popular characterization of his memories being all fucked up / not knowing if he's a true person or had fake implanted memories

and he could still get hanahaki disease over feelings he's not aware he's repressing, similar to Eve - maybe it's harder for Neon J to notice that he's growing flowers due to his status as a cyborg? since he lacks a proper mouth, it's not as easy as coughing up a few petals. maybe he confuses the feeling of things growing inside with the feeling of phantom limbs, and he just keeps on unconsciously tackling his feelings properly before they can become a SERIOUS problem. maybe discovering that 1010 has been hiding their own hanahaki from him is the catalyst that makes him realize it could be happening to him, who knows!

or you could also think that he's been struggling with hanahaki and hiding it from everyone as well, which is so fucking hilariously ironic to me

there's also the subject of him being a war veteran and all, if you wanna get more in-depth about hanahaki within the universe instead of just individual characters? like, there's probably some fucked up training to ensure soldiers and shit don't choke up with hanahaki. I VAGUELY remember some concepts from very early fandom days about hanahaki being a thing you could REMOVE from your body, at the cost of never feeling anything ever again - a metaphor for becoming entirely numb and isolated from your own feelings etc, so yeah! go wild!!

who's stargazer and what is he like?

Stargazer is actually one of the first ever outcodes I made after Void!! He’s an outertale sans variant who was trapped in a no mercy loop that was, to simplify it for the sake of not writing an essay, tearing the code of his universe loose. At one point, he'd sort of accidentally found one of the "looser" spots and fell through it.

Passing through the void in the state he was already in due to all the glitches starting to affect his verse caused his own code to be permanently damaged, but it did have the beneficial side effect of making it so he was stable outside of his own universe.

He was one of the first outliers Void helped alongside Comet after he started working in the MV, finding a new universe for him to live in. He has the ability to "see" between universes, and sort of very faint prophetic abilities? It's not a particularly useful skill since it's usually hard to parse and isn't guaranteed either, but it more so just kinda gives him stronger intuition about some stuff. He was also the one who spotted the irregularity that turned out to be Wingdings and gave Void the heads up, which is how he found him <3

Personality wise, he’s kind of a grump. Very tired, been through a lot and doesn't joke very often, unless he really stressed, then he'll make bitter cynical jokes aha, but despite the hemming and hawing, he'll help if Void asks him (not the comic papyruses though, he has an axe to grind with them, for some reason...)

He hates to travel outside of his adopted universe, which is another outertale variant, and he lives in a modified observatory. Definitely prefers staying on-planet, too, since being out in space reminds him too much of his own universe.

His eyes are usually full of soft, gold light with "stars" in them. It makes it harder to see normally, but he’s not fully blind otherwise, just a bit impaired.

just logging in tonight to say Her Royal Majesty Bean the Mean continues to persevere, possibly out of spite. Note that she's not just alive, she's mobile, feeds herself, and is keeping herself clean, as well as making her displeasure known when I medicate her. So she's still got quality of life too, which is the really important part. I'm actually hoping she'll pass naturally before she loses said quality, though of course I'm grateful for every day with her. In other news, I visited the sanctuary, painted rodents with my niece (a new shrew painting is in progress!), and my dad took said niece and I out to deer-watch this evening. We didn't see anything but it was a nice time. Also, a blog dedicated to muscular men liked one of my posts . . .on Haven's blog. I get quite a lot who like posts here (they're the one type of personal I don't mind lol) but hers? I check. They like Monsoon. Of course they like Monsoon.

talk to me about Thomas ur oc I wanna hear the rambles

my silly guy :] I am always happy to talk about him!!!! here's the basics for folks who aren't familiar with him, and I'll ramble under the cut bc I have SO . many thoughts about him

so Thomas spent so so so long devoting his entire life to taking care of his brothers that he like... fully did not have one of his own. He didn't have space to really develop an identity outside of that. Tristan and Jasper had their own friends and problems and activities and Thomas was just. the driver, the listening ear, the shoulder to cry on. He had to work to support his family and outside of all that he had no time to figure out who he is.

so coupled with the fallout of his baby brothers being horrifically frankensteined into one being, and dealing with that grief and his father's renewed grief, he's gonna have one hell of an identity crisis. because like, he can't bear to look at Rose, his father is actually taking responsibility to care for Rose, and Rose is also able to take care of themself, they're happy to exist, they're just chilling. So suddenly Thomas has all the time in the world and absolutely zero solid facts about himself beyond the fact that he failed. He's a Molotov cocktail of anger and grief and panic, because what does he do now, who is he now, without people to care for, without his brothers? They were inextricably connected to the point that Thomas didn't know where he ended and his brothers began and now that connection has been violently severed. the first chunk of time between Rose coming into being and Thomas meeting Mallow is the darkest time of Thomas's entire life.

So I've been thinking a lot about that, but also the process of him healing from it. It all starts with Mallow, she's the first person to really meet Thomas - like, he had "friends" in school but they only met good ol' Tommy Hart, the ray of sunshine who will absolutely help you with your homework, he'll absolutely give you a ride, he's a delight to have in class, so helpful, always so helpful. Mallow is the first person to see him grieving and not leave him to do it alone. For the first time in his life, Thomas has a shoulder to cry on.

I like the idea of Thomas eventually discovering how much he loves to write. Because Rose is literally a born poet - Jasper and Tristan both wrote poetry - and I think that after a lot of processing and grieving and learning to accept that Rose's existence isn't Thomas's fault, I think they could bond over that. Thomas is like, the last "loose end" of Rose being completely happy to exist, because like. they like being Rose, and Sonja treats them like their own person, and they've got all their arena friends who never even knew Tristan and Jasper, and their dad is... struggling, but he was never there to begin with, but Thomas was there every day, and Rose was born loving him with an intensity that leaves them breathless. That's their big brother, he watched over Tristan and Jasper every day of their lives, and yeah they argued sometimes and yeah it wasn't always smooth sailing but... Rose misses him. And they know Thomas misses who they used to be. They notice every time he flinches when they enter the room. They notice the way he's never once made eye contact with them.

And like, they're not gonna push that. They miss Thomas but what the fuck are they supposed to do, force him to hang out with them? They're not grieving, but he is, and they get that, so they throw themself into arena fights and they dump their own sadness into a shitty little notebook and they show it to Sonja, sometimes, but otherwise they just deal with it. And meanwhile Thomas is finally starting to feel like a person, and switching out Beating Shit Up with writing out his feelings to cope. And writing out his feelings to cope turns into just. writing, and I feel like he'd turn more towards writing fiction than poetry but they both write to vent, and they both write for fun, and after a long time they're able to meet on that equal ground.

It would be... hard for Thomas. Even as he starts to heal, Rose is like a walking open wound, and seeing them is like dumping salt into it. And Rose wants to like. flop across him like Jasper used to, or go sit in his room and Exist together, like Tristan did whenever he got stressed, but they're not gonna push him, they don't think they can handle him outright turning them away, or worse letting them stay and being uncomfortable the entire time. So it would take forever for either of them to reach out, but... I feel like Thomas would find Rose writing, eventually, maybe while walking home from hanging with Mallow, and instead of turning around or walking past he asks to join them.

I mean, yeah, the Megas also have their takes on Skullman's theme ("Cracked Skulls"; inspired by MM4) and Chill Penguin's theme ("Chill XMas"; inspired by MMX), and I guess there's also one based on Storm Eagle's theme ("Rougmer Storm"; MMX), but I haven't listened to that one yet.

Like, I get that they have a good story arc to cover the first 3 classic games, but it would be so cool if they explored some of the themes of the following games, y'know? Or flesh out the MMX or other series music! Or hell, pick and choose some Robot Masters and make a new narrative, or like literally anything, please, people are starving over here! And it's not like they aren't still active. Don't get me wrong, I love their Castlevania stuff under the Belmonts label, but it would be nice to get Mega Man content outside of just remixes/remasters of their existing songs. Plus, they're still doing concerts, so like the audience is there for it!

And as for the Protomen, I hope that they actually end up releasing Act III at some point. Having listened to The Fight, it makes me crave it to an unhealthy degree. I love the grimdark kinda take on Mega Man that focuses more on the role that humanity takes in all of the conflict. I feel like that angle gets extremely neglected in Mega Man media.

Idk, as a fan, it's just kinda frustrating how neglected mega man gets. Like, it feels like the rare times whenever we do get content, it focuses on the first three or four games (if we're lucky), and then it just dies off! Or goes dormant for a decade or more. The franchise has so much creative potential that just isn't realized and it's so sad!
