Typography Tuesday
PLANTS & FLOWERS
This week we bring you a few experimental fonts made with flowers and plants from The Making of Artistic Typefaces by 50 international designers published in 2016 by SendPoints Publishing in Hong Kong. Shown here:
Blossom Type: handcrafted with natural flowers with Photoshp for color correction by designers Nikita Shchykin and Alice Mourou of Oddity Studio based in Hong Kong.
Wanto 3 Aroma Living: letterform overlaid with a flower arrangement from Victor Design Corp.
Garden, Flowers, and Ice: as the name implies, this font, designed by Manuel Persa of Voluminica based in Asturias, Spain, is made using wild flowers placed in letter-shaped silicone molds, filled with water and frozen, and then removed from the mold.
Good Vibes: typographical wooden frame filled with living moss, designed by Camilo Rojas of CR-eate based in Miami.
Good Enough: original clay pottery with small plants as an illustration in the Dutch Volkskrat Magazine from the design studio Autobahn based n Haarlem and Rotterdam.

Listen, I think D&D goblins as lil bat-like folk accurately captures everything that people really like about them while avoiding some of the troubling implications.
Lives in a cave or an otherwise dim setting? Check, bats do that.
Eats beetles and things? Check, bats do that.
Big, mobile ears? Yep, bat feature.
Sharp teeth for biting? Also a bat feature!
Bats live in big groups and scientists have found they “argue” a lot. Also sounds like fantasy goblin stuff!
Bonus? FLUFFYE.

Typography Tuesday
Portuguese designer Ivan Alves created the Wild Potato font for Nor267 design studio in Porto, Portugal. Although used to working digitally, the designers for this project got off their computer screens and approached their work in a different way, creating a typeface made from handcrafted potato stamps. After three days of cutting, drying, painting, stamping, and drying again, the alphabet was finally completed. Then all the letters were scanned and turned into the digital font known today as Wild Potato.

you can see that the script originally had ford building an anti-gravity machine for the science fair (which i guess acts as foreshadowing to the portal?), but the sun lightbulb feels like it would've connected to the opening of stanchurian candidate....
#it probably would've made stan's issues in that ep hit even harder but honestly its not very visually... distinct? impressive? idk#the perpetual motion machine kinda looks like a triangle and probably seems more useful and impressive in comparison tho#and yes footbot is literally a football ducttaped to a toaster#ford pines#stanford pines#stan pines#stanley pines#i do kinda like this version of stan goofing off in class#altho them switching glasses wouldn't work as well with the teen stan design we ended up getting#even still i think briefly showing them doing any type of twin switches is kinda important#with some fans ending up doubting that theyre identical twins lol#but i feel like the scene we got of ford letting him cheat is kinda important to show too#he ain't uptight about rules!!! he didn't mind helping his brother!!!#also its fun that stan likes doing shadow puppets too when he said that ford is super good at them#messy hair stan my beloved

I will finally draw yuugi#ygo has been in my dna for like close to a decade at this point and yet. I have never attempted to draw anything for it#until now. my audacity has finally reached quota#wishshipping saved my ass this lunar new year and its not even an exaggeration. thank you kazuki takahashi for the boys. rest in peace#mutou yuugi I love u.... u r my son#not mentioned in this stack but dsod's decision to thin yuugi's choker is the funniest shittiest character design decision on earth#like as a detail its so nothing. when u zoom out it just looks like a shadow dropped wrong somewhere. I have come to terms with#the other fashion choice for him in that movie but the tiny ass choker I don't accept. that's stupid. big it#I rly like the vision of older yuugi being like. obnoxiously polite and cheerful#specifically in a way that's not like ceding space for everyone else. like it's clear at all time that he's Like That#and nobody will be able to stop him from being Like That#and also tbh I can never imagine him leaving domino for long (<- definitely not projecting my city slicker ass on him)#I think the game shop's been where he's safe to be himself for so long that he'd want to keep it running and extend#that shade to other kids in the city too. his loyal customers are so scared of disappointing him for no reason#.... typed huge wall of text abt jou leaving domino for tournaments etc frequently but always coming back to hang out with yuugi#I am actually ill abt them huh.... maybe ygo was the progenitor honestly maybe it started me on the two blokes who do fuckall ships#yuugi is so cute but I do know in my heart tho he does Not cook. that kid has never learned and will never manage#I know he doesnt even have water in his office whenever he works. scared of spilling#its a good thing hes got friends galore now people are blowing his phone up wasting their sms toll telling him to drink water#(slowly tipping into mania) I just think he's so neat. love that boy he's so cute
