The Girl Who Leapt Through... Timelines??

And here we are with the final installment of the charming little story of Obake Tango! This marks the conclusion of our very first project. You can get the chapter here, or read it on MangaDex.

We went into this manga totally blind. We wanted to do something by Kuramochi, and Tango happened to be her shortest unscanlated work. But what do we know, we ended up loving this. Her art, especially her lines, the chill SoL vibes in the manga, how real the characters and story feel all got our seal of approval. We hope Kuramochi-sensei reaches a wider audience. She has so many good-looking manga!

But don't leave yet! We also have a little bonus chapter, Ako-chan's Diary, and a little tribute manga from Kuramochi Fusako's Anthology book, coming soon. Stay tuned!

PREVIEW CHAPTER 30 🌝

My guess: the Cultural festival, that was the subject of volume 6, generally takes place around November in Japan, so I hope this volume is set in December, which means CHRISTMAS! 🎄 🎅🏻  💕 I love it madly. Anyway, from the preview it's clear it's cold, uniforms have changed..so yeah i hope it's the confirmation of my theory lol. I translated it quickly, but that should be the gist. Now I want Azusa and Karino. Please take care of yourself like Kuze does with Atsumu ~

Natsume Yuujinchou: “Village of the Sleeping Vessel (Part 1)” Summary (Chapter 100)

To you, we send our gratefulness that cannot be conveyed even with a 100 “Thank Yous”———…

After so many years, we have finally arrived at the 100th chapter! What’s perhaps most interesting is that this will be a multi-part arc that will have 4 or more parts!

If you’re curious about why we know this: the chapter title was written with a “Part 1” rather than the “Front Part” pattern that Midorikawa-sensei usually utilises. The “Front Part” pattern will allow up to a maximum of 3 parts (“Front Part”, “Middle Part”, “Back Part”), so if that pattern isn’t being used here, it basically means that we will have more than 3 parts for this arc!

(There were some people who said that it might have 5 parts, but I haven’t found a reliable source for that yet, so please take it with a grain of salt.)

TL Note: The word that I translated as “Vessel” is actually “Yorishiro”, which are objects that attract Shinto gods and allow them to house themselves in it. This is usually used in the series to refer to vessels that youkai use, with Nyanko-sensei’s fortune cat form being an example (so in the context of the series, it does not necessarily need to be a god being housed in there).There’s no English equivalent so I went with something that seemed to fit.

Chapter 100:  “Village of the Sleeping Vessel” (Part 1)

As paper seals flutter around him, Natori successfully exorcises a youkai. The client invites him into his house, commending his abilities.

Matsuzaki: My my… Well done, well done! As expected of you, Natori-kun. I really owe it to you this time. I’m sorry that my house is so cluttered. Please, take a seat. Natori: …… As always, you have a lot of interesting things, Matsuzaki-san. Matsuzaki: What, these are just junk. By the way—— We will certainly have many chances to hire you again in the future. I’ve heard that you’ve been frequenting the Yorishima house recently…… You should really stop relying on that suspicious retiree. With power such as yours, if you’d like, my family could provide you with support.

Natori: Haha, I’m grateful for your offer, but——…

Natori freezes, noticing something behind the man.

Matsuzaki: Well, don’t say that………… ——…… ———— Is something the matter? Natori: ——— No…

Leaving the house, Natori’s shiki surround him.

Sasago: ——Are you sure that’s fine, Master? Matsuzaki is a distinguished family that may be beneficial for many things. Urihime: That offer of his was unprecedented, so perhaps…

However, Natori pays little heed to their words.

Natori: Did you guys see that? Shiki: ———— Huh……?

Natori: That thing in his house——…… ———— I think…… I have seen that before, somewhere… ——… *shudder…* ———If I’m not wrong…… That was———……

Meanwhile, Natsume and Nyanko-sensei are on their way home. In Natsume’s hand is a bag of cookies he had just purchased.

Nyanko: Hah~~~ Those cookies were just like jewels! I’m looking forward to eating them, Natsume! Natsume: Yeah. It’s from a famous stall that you can only find in the city, and they were opening up the booth here for a limited time only, so I figured we might never have another chance to get it again……

It turns out that Nyanko-sensei had ambushed him on his way home to buy those cookies. Touko had showed Nyanko-sensei the flyer for them, and had remarked to him about how beautiful and delicious those cookies looked.

Nyanko: Be grateful, Natsume! I gave you information about something that can make Touko happy. Natsume: I hope you didn’t tell me that just because you wanted to eat them yourself, Sensei. Nyanko: WHAT!?

It was a normal, peaceful day, just like any other.

Halfway through the stroll, Nyanko-sensei notices something, and tells Natsume to head home by himself (but not before reminding him to save some cookies for him). Nyanko-sensei leaps out of his arms towards a fallen tree before Natsume could even say anything.

Natsume: Sensei, where are you going? …… Nyanko: *THUD* Natsume: Pft! Are you alright, Sensei? You slammed into the tree, huh? Well, I’m going to head home first, alright—?

Touko is extremely delighted by the cookies, thanking Natsume for getting them.

Natsume: ——That’s great. Nyanko-sen……… ……There was someone who told me that these cookies would make you happy……… Touko: My my, is that so? That makes me so happy! Let’s eat them right away!

Natsume had the cookies with his guardians that night. But Nyanko-sensei never returned.

The next day at school, Natsume wonders where Nyanko-sensei could have gone, and becomes curious of the broken tree he had seen the previous day. Right when he had parted ways with Nyanko-sensei, Natsume had felt something from the tree…

Tanuma: Natsume! Natsume: Tanuma! …What is it? You look like you’re in high spirits. Tanuma: Yeah! Actually, I picked up something interesting. Natsume: Something interesting?

Tanuma shows it to him.

Natsume: ——… A piece of a teacup? Tanuma: I might have been exaggerating a little when I said it was interesting, but doesn’t it remind you of something? Natsume: Huh? Hmm……… …… Tanuma: ——Yesterday, I was out walking with my father when I came across a bunch of birds pecking at something in the grass. I took a peek, and found this piece of pottery there. Natsume: In the grass?

Tanuma: Well, it’s just a broken piece of a teacup, but look. This gray color… Doesn’t it look like his? Even this tiny bit of orange here too. Somehow, it looks just like Nyanko-sensei’s appearance. Natsume: ——Huh……

The tree in that grassy plain. The sound of Nyanko-sensei knocking into it comes back to Natsume.

Natsume: UWAH!? Tanuma: Wah!? W-What’s wrong, Natsume………? Natsume: ——Er, nothing…… (——Huh…? Now that I think about it, isn’t the fortune cat that Sensei uses as his vessel a piece of pottery…?) ——No… (It can’t be. Something like that is…)

Natsume attempts to calm himself, and asks Tanuma where exactly he had found the fragment. Tanuma cheerfully responds that it was at the grass plains where the old tree, which had snapped during a typhoon, stood.

Tanuma: ——Hey, Natsume!? You’re turning pale!! Natsume: ———Tanuma…… Please don’t laugh when I say this…… Tanuma: Huh? Natsume: I don’t think it’s possible, but…… What should I do if this is a piece of Nyanko-sensei……? Tanuma: HUH!?

Natsume and Tanuma head to the plains with the broken tree, but Tanuma seems unconvinced that Nyanko-sensei might have smashed into pieces.

Tanuma: ——No, wait, Natsume. Sensei has met many different collisions until now. Natsume: … Tanuma: All he did was bump into the tree, right? (With a thud.) Natsume: Yeah…… And it’s also normal for him not to return home for a while. ——But this fragment… It gives me a strange feeling, but… That feeling is… just like Sensei…

[The fact that two of the three examples given are just Natsume punching him cracks me up so much lmao]

Natsume: (It has the same presence as Sensei——)

[Seeing Natsume freak out like this is not good for my heart ;-;]

Tanuma: ——I get it. First, you have to calm down, Natsume. If something did happen to Sensei, then we have to stay strong. Natsume: *breathe…* You’re right. Thank you, Tanuma.

[Yes, THANK YOU TANUMA. YOU ARE THE WORLD’S BEST BOYFRIEND.]

Natsume calmly looks over the fragment again, realizing how he got strangely agitated when he touched it. Meanwhile, how does this explain Nyanko-sensei’s reluctance to return home? Could he be injured to the point where he is unable to move? Or because it would be bad to be seen with a broken body, so he refuses to return?

Tanuma: I’m not sure if this is related, but there’s another reason why I said that fragment was interesting. Natsume: ? Tanuma: Since I was little, I would often visit exhibitions with my father, who loved pottery———

Tanuma: While I was looking at the many pottery that potters and craftsmen had brought, among them was a piece of pottery that looked like it was glowing when I stared at it for a while. It had a fiber-like design which looked like blood vessels or branches. I told my father and other people about it, but it seemed I was the only one who could see it. The only pottery that had that blood-vessel-like design were called “Hakka* Pottery”. Natsume: Hakka Pottery…? Tanuma: Yeah. It’s a product made in a certain pottery village and is no longer circulated on the market. Now, it’s even called a phantom item. That’s why I’ve never had the chance to set my eyes on that blood-vessel-like design until recently….. But, I can see it in this. This fragment might have been made in the Hakka Pottery village.

[I’m not sure if I should translate “Hakka” literally or keep it as Romaji, as “Hakka” could very well be the family name of the potters creating it. So until this is confirmed, I will keep it as “Hakka”. Anyways, “Hakka” is literally translated as “White Mist”, so it plays into the whole “phantom pottery” thing.]

Natsume continues to discuss it with Tanuma, and decides to wait until the following morning to see if Nyanko-sensei would return. But should he not do so…

That night, Natsume has a dream of a dark space. And within it… is Nyanko-sensei.

Natsume: (——… Nyanko-sen…… ……There’s a piece missing on his back……) Nyanko?: *lick lick lick…* Natsume: (A light…?) Nyanko?: *dash!* Natsume: (!! Wait, Sensei! Where are you going? Sensei!! ——Just what is that light…?)

The light is from a small opening, made of bricks. Nyanko-sensei (?) stands right at its entrance.

Natsume: (Is that——… ———a kiln———?)

Natsume wakes up. It is morning, but Nyanko-sensei is still nowhere to be seen. That dream he had last night… Was it something that the fragment had showed him?

Wishing to find anything out about Nyanko-sensei, Natsume makes a call to Tanuma to find out the exact location of the pottery village. After taking Touko’s lunch box, Natsume takes a train towards Homura* District, where the village is said to be. He holds the fragment in his grasp as the train chugs along. [“Homura” is literally “village of light”.]

Natsume: Sensei… (Is Sensei actually at the Hakka Pottery village? Or am I just thinking too much? Maybe we have just missed each other, and he would return all of a sudden and finish up his cookies——?)

After getting off at the station, Natsume has to take a bus into the mountains, then walk a significant amount, cross a bridge, before he finally arrives at Homura, where the village is. 

But inside the wide forest, all Natsume could find are abandoned buildings among overgrown weeds. According to Tanuma, there’s only one Hakka kiln left in Homura, and even the potter himself is alone.

As Natsume continues walking, he notices something among the trees. Somehow… it feels like something is watching him.

Then… Between the trees, appears a familiar figure.

Natsume: !! (Just now!) Sensei!? Is that you, Nyanko-sensei!? Wait a minute, Sen-......... Nyanko: You’re being noisy.

Nyanko: What are you getting so noisy for? Natsume: …… Nya- Nyanko-sensei!?

Natsume: ——How the heck did you end up in my bag, Sensei!? Since when did you…… Just where did you go!? Nyanko: Hey, you’re noisy!! I was just dealing with some minor business! It’s normal for me not to come home in a while! Natsume: Ugh… Nyanko: Then, when I came back this morning, it turned out that you were getting ready to head out somewhere, hence I decided to come along like this. Natsume: ———…… …………… …I guess that means you didn’t break, Sensei? Nyanko: Break? I’m with my perfect body as usual.

Natsume heaves a sigh of relief. He shows the fragment to Nyanko-sensei, who reacts with a frown. Just then, they hear the sound of a door opening. They decide to follow it, and come across the Hakka workshop.

Inside sits a man.

Man: ——Oh? To think that such a young guest would come visit this rural kiln. Is there something you need? Nyanko: …… Natsume: Ah, I’m sorry for peeking. Erm…… (This man is… The phantom Hakka Pottery’s——…)

But since Nyanko-sensei has already returned, Natsume doesn’t really have anything to ask about. He figures that he could ask more about the broken fragment as a souvenir for Tanuma. But upon taking out that piece—

Man: Oh. What an interesting item you have there. That was something that was made here. Meanwhile…

Man: Is that cat… yours*? Natsume: ———Huh?

[You can also read this to mean “Who is that cat to you?”, or basically “What is your relationship with that cat?” But I’m keeping it more literal for now.]

Another man bursts through the door.

Potter: Hey! What are you doing here? I thought I told you to leave! Natsume: Huh!? Man: Ah, hello. Since I’ve already carried myself on foot to such a remote place, I figured I should at least take a look at one of them.

Natsume: (So this is the potter. Then who is the one standing next to me………?) Potter: We don’t have anything here besides pottery. There’s nothing here that a collector like you would be interested in. Natsume: ———A collector… Man: It’s true that there’s nothing special inside this warehouse. But it seems like there are interesting things outside of it. Besides…

Man: I also want that, which you have.

Gas begins leaking from the box in his hand. Natsume, relying on his instincts, dashes from the house while excusing himself.

Man: ———Haha. What a sharp boy.

The smoke surrounds the potter, and he collapses.

Natsume: ——I instinctively started running away… But is that alright? ——Those people… (Just what was that collector guy talking about……?) Nyanko: That man was pretty eerie. Natsume: Is he… an ayakashi? Nyanko: No, I suspect he’s a human. However… His presence was just like that of a doll’s…… ——Hm? Natsume? Natsume: *sway*

Nyanko: Natsume!? Man: (I also want that, which you have.)

The man walks into the woods with a giant human-shaped case upon his shoulder. Opening it… reveals several wooden dolls. They begin to move upon his command.

Man: Now then, all of you. Go on.

In the darkness, Natsume hears two voices conversing.

Nyanko: ——And so? Who was that man? Natsume: (——Ah, ……this is Sensei’s voice. Sensei is here…) ?: He is someone you shouldn’t get involved with. Natsume: (——Huh?) Nyanko: Hmph! Whatever it is, I’m tired of waiting. A spell like that, I could just blow it away without breaking a sweat! ?: Stop it. It’s disadvantageous for an ayakashi. Natsume: (This voice is……) ?: Besides, I’m sure Sasago has made it through them and passed the message. Natori will come over and help soon. Until then, we should stay quiet and remain here——— Natsume: (Huh? Natori-san is——…?)

Hiiragi: Are you awake, Natsume? Natsume: ! Hiiragi!? Hiiragi: Because you were quick to escape, it seems like you didn’t inhale too much of the smoke. Natsume: Smoke…? Just what is going on…? Why are you—— Besides, where is this………? Hiiragi: We are in a cavern outside the village. It’s been about an hour since we’ve carried you here after you’ve collapsed. We’ve managed to hold out until now, but… that started, so now we are surrounded and cannot move.

Natsume: “That” started……? 

Hiiragi looks out of the cavern towards the sky… where numerous human-shaped figures are flying about in circles.

Hiirage: That. Natsume: (People are…… flying…?)

Doll: *glance* Hiiragi: ! They’ve noticed us! They’re coming! Natsume: !? Nyanko: *leap* Hmph! I can handle something like that…… 

Nyanko: *stiffen!* Hm!? I can’t move my body… Natsume: Huh!? UWAAAH!

Natsume: Look out…!

Natsume: ! Natori-sa… Matoba: ——My, that was dangerous, Natsume-kun.

Here it is. If you want a copy, go to File > Create a copy. You’ll need a Gmail account to save it tho.

To get started, select all the example data and start adding your own. You can always organize it alphabetically afterward, so don’t worry about it. (There’s a how to do it on the FAQ sheet)

Detailed features and screenshots after the cut:

Main sheet: “All” Here is where you record your mangas. You add the name, author, genre, Status and your Personal Status (Already read? Unread? In progress?). You can also add 2 keywords, a URL, a small note, and a little heart ( <3 ) to mark your favorites! It includes the following status options: Ongoing, Finished, Unscanlated, Hiatus.

“Stats”

Here you can see your manga stats, such as, how many of each genre are you currently reading? who’s your most liked author? how many unread mangas you have left?

“My Favorite Manga” In this sheet you can see all the mangas you’ve tagged with a heart <3 (aww). You can see their name, their author, genre, status and URL

“In Progress” This is the main reason why I made the spreadsheet. In here, you can see which manga you’re currently reading and what’s the last chapter you read.

“Unread” Another thing I struggle a lot with is to know which manga I’ve been told to read but haven’t.

“FAQ”

This sheet explains how to customize the spreadsheet to fit your needs. In English and Spanish because I was bored. The explanation may not be the best, but I tried to. Here, you can read how to change the colors, how to add new genres or other parameters (and adapt the spreadsheet accordingly), how to order alphabetically, and how to contact me if you’ve got any issues with the spreadsheet. I’m only a beginner when talking about spreadsheets, so I can’t solve everything, but I will try to help!

Limitations

This is made on Google Spreadsheets, and I don’t know that much on how to program with it, so it has a few limitations, like:

You need a Google account in order to save it. You can download it and use it on other spreadsheet software, but I can’t guarantee the formulas will work the same.

You can only edit data on the “All” sheet. For this, you’ll have to search (using the “search” function, or Ctrl + F) the name or author of the manga you wanna update and do it that way.

There is no new features. I may update the spreadsheet in the future, but you won’t get the updates automatically, you’ll have to edit the copy you own or manually add your data to a new copy.

There is no automatic update. You’ll have to manually update your manga data such as Status, Personal Status, Last chapter read and URL. There is no way to link a URL info to a Google Spreadsheet with the available Google features. For automatic updates you’ll need to download an app or follow a specific manga reading site.

Cool bits!

You can customize the colors! If you don’t know how to do it, there’s a quick explanation on FAQ.

It’s saved on the cloud! Because it’s made on Google Spreadsheets, it saves to your Google Drive, which you can access on any of your devices and it automatically updates whenever you have internet!

IT’S COLOR CODED! It’s one of the best things for me, since it’s easier to understand and quickly spot which data you’re missing (the uncolored cells)

You can add a quick access to your device! Using Google Drive widgets on your mobile device, you can set up a quick access button, and that way you can easily access your spreadsheet without looking for it on your Google Drive.

YOU CAN CHANGE ANYTHING. Since it’s made on a spreadsheet, you can change any formulas you want, change any name you don’t like, erase parameters or genres or keywords or anything you want! And if you wanna add a feature it doesn’t have, you can easily do it! Either by following the formulas I added or by looking up on google how to do it.

Happy 2 Year-Anniversary! (ﾉ≧∀≦)ﾉ

Guess what? It’s been two years since I established the name and started posting on wordpress as michiruzuki! (exact dates on image) (((o(*ﾟ▽ﾟ*)o)))

Though I don’t really have any remarkable release for this occasion, (sorry ;w;) I am planning to release a new manga very soon! (Please look forward to it!)

(Keep reading for some ~origin & background story~ (lol) but really it’s just me rambling. a lot.)

I was losing motivation in a lot of things, so perhaps I wanted to find something that would at least enhance my learning of the Japanese language. And it seems like scanlation was the best idea in my mind back then.

I didn’t know a thing when I first started out scanlation. Before I worked on photoshop hands-on, though, I had to start from scratch and look up everything on the internet. Basically all my knowledge about editing is from self-study. I was only learning Japanese for 2 years, so my knowledge was not that refined too. My first scanlation was only shared in FB. It was an omegaverse manga that wasn’t scanlated back then (haha) It was honestly just a trial but since I got pretty good feedback (it’s omegaverse, duh) I decided to work on the next chapter too. But before I could finish working on it, a real scanlation group “officially” picked it up and I decided to stop on it. Honestly I was kinda let down back then. That was actually in November 2016. I didn’t edit for weeks after that. But then as I was reading raw manga and took a liking to it again, I went for a second shot at scanlation, seeing it was unscanlated. I’m kinda glad I didn’t give up back then. (If not I wouldn’t be here now lol)

I haven’t really accomplished that much if you look at it from a large-scale point of view, but for me, I never expected to continue this far. So every finished chapter, every finished volume just gives me this great sense of accomplishment. It’s a hobby that takes a lot out of you, but I enjoy it a lot and it’s rewarding in its small ways. If you ask me a reason why I scanlate, I’d say that I do it because I’ve read something interesting which is still not translated in English, (so not much people know about it), and I wouldn't want to read something good and just keep it to myself. So of course I’d want to share it. That’d be the proper honest answer I can give, but I also do it for a lot of personal reasons.

Sometimes I have on/off modes in scanlation. If I do something in excess over a long course of time, I’d get tired of it. In latter 2017, I just gave up temporarily and went on hiatus for half a year. After that I decided not to do that again though, but I also don’t want to push myself. Sometimes my desire to scanlate a lot of stuff and my physical and mental limitations don’t match. So I end up hating myself and wanting to quit. (There are a few reasons why I feel like quitting scanlation sometimes, throwing low motivation and insecurities to the mix) But in the end, it’s something I can’t just quit so easily, thanks to the never-ending BL manga out there. (haha)

I’ve been working by myself mostly, and I know that I’ll never be able to keep up with other large-scale groups, but I enjoy working on my own pace and working on manga that I like, just like this. It might just be my asocial nature, but working as a one-man team is the most comfortable for me. Of course, interaction with others does help me improve so I’ve been trying to interact and work more with other groups these days.

I’m not sure exactly how long I’ll stay scanlating from now on. Perhaps 2, or 5 years. Maybe more. I don’t know. Perhaps I’ll have to go on hiatuses time to time since life happens. For now, though, scanlation still something really important to me, so I’ll keep on doing it until I feel otherwise.

Oops, that went longer than expected. That was just me rambling about stuff... Kudos to you if you read this far.

Natsume Yuujinchou: “Untitled” Summary (Special Chapter 21)

Here’s the latest Natsume Yuujinchou chapter! So sorry about delaying this for so long (it’s been at least 2 weeks since it was released), but real life has been hella hectic and looking at my work calendar I don’t think it will die down any time soon.

Anyways, we have a special chapter this time. Though it was a bit disappointing, it was still an extremely adorable chapter with some even more adorable characters. ^w^

Next month’s issue (as in, this month’s issue) won’t come with a Natsume Yuujinchou chapter, but it will come with a free set of three Nyanko-sensei pins. The month after that (releasing on May 24th) will come with the 100th chapter of Natsume Yuujinchou. (We have made it guys! The 100th chapter!!)

A tiny masked-youkai finds himself trapped in the horrid “Forest of Giant Feet”, where numerous youkai have been squashed to death by the giant feet that trot through the forest.

Shivering amongst the tree branches, the tiny youkai catches sight of two large youkai appearing in the distance: one with single eye, and one that looks like a bull.

As the giant feet stomps around them, the two youkai evade them nimbly, much to the tiny youkai’s surprise.

Tiny: (They got through!?) *gasp* (If I follow them…)

Holding back his shivers, the tiny youkai leaps onto the back of the one-eyed youkai.

Eventually, the two youkai leave the forest, talking about how they were directed towards a shortcut by someone named Hinoe, but found themselves in a rather rowdy forest.

The tiny youkai is still hanging onto them.

Tiny: (Just as I thought I was done for, I was able to escape thanks to them… I want to thank them somehow, but they appear to be powerful ayakashi. They might just eat someone as tiny as me…… ——But I wonder where I am? Maybe I should keep sticking to them discreetly until we get to a safe place……………)

A tiny mouse-like youkai pops out beside Tiny, staring at him in silence.

Tiny: (Hey! Are you sticking to these beings too? Seems like us little guys have our fair share of hardships, huh?) Mouse: ……

One-eyed: Well, if it’s a shortcut, we should be able to make it in time. Bull-faced: Hah~~~~ I want to finish this quickly and get back to drinking. One-eyed: Having a drink right after something troublesome always brings about a special taste. Tiny: (......I wonder where they came from? Do you have any ideas?) Mouse: …… Tiny: (You sure are a quiet guy. But, I suppose we should really be keeping quiet, or……) HIIIIII…!!!

Before they knew it, the two youkai are leaping through the air. Seeing that Mouse is starting to lose his grip, Tiny quickly grabs him. But his screams resume as the horrendous journey continues…

Tiny soon begins to notice that the two youkai are carrying some things with them; the One-eyed youkai has a gourd, while the Bull-faced youkai has a basket with him.

Tiny: ——Where do you plan to get off? Mouse: …… Tiny: ——I’m in the middle of a journey to find a peaceful place to live in. But to someone as tiny as me, everything just seems so frightening…… Mouse: *flop~~* Tiny: Ah! Again! *grab* My my, you sure are an unreliable guy. If you keep this up, you might just get thrown off. Bull-faced: Hah~~~~~ Seriously, I feel like my bones are about to break! One-eyed: I’m sure you understand our hard work! Bull-faced: This is going to cost you a lot! One-eye: That’s right, that’s right~~~ Tiny: (As I observed them, there was one more thing I noticed. Once in a while, these beings would begin muttering some complaints… As though they were speaking to someone——)

After that, they passed through numerous, strange places… and finally arrive at a peach garden. The two youkai toss the basket and the gourd aside, and begin picking peaches off the trees. Tiny and Mouse watch them as peaches are thrown into the basket one after another.

Tiny looks around him, and plucks out a peach within his reach. He tosses it into the basket.

Mouse: …… Tiny: I’m helping them as thanks for letting me ride them.

Just as Tiny continues with his next peach, he spots Mouse throwing a peach into the basket as well. One by one, the two of them toss the peaches into the basket, until…

One-eyed: ——Oh? For some reason, it looks like the fruits have multiplied———— Tiny: *GULP!* …… Bull-faced: ………. Just your imagination. One-eyed: ——Hmmm, just my imagination, huh?

[Oh man… The Mid-Ranks are just so sweet. I’m pretty sure they’ve already noticed the two tiny guys with them, and lied here so that they wouldn’t frighten them.]

They continue on their journey, with the two tiny youkai on One-eyed’s back, once again.

Tiny: Oh no! I should have gotten off at the peach garden just now… (——However, I’ve started getting curious about where these peaches are going. Perhaps it’s because I’ve been on a journey all by myself for so long. I don’t want to lea……) ………

Tiny glances over at Mouse.

Tiny: (...Maybe I could… ——invite him, to join me on my journey……)

The two large youkai continue to chat, talking about bringing the peaches to someone named Benikyouki-sama, in exchange for something else. Tiny wonders who this Benikyouki-sama is when they finally arrive at their destination.

It is a wayside shrine.

Both of the large youkai bow down towards the shrine, offering up the basket of peaches as they get on their knees.

One-eyed: Benikyouki*-sama. We’ve brought some peaches from Lull Headland, which is known as a secret village. If possible, we would like to exchange them with the beautiful white heron chick from White Willow Pond that you have captured a few days ago.

Upon One-eyed’s back, Tiny shrieks to himself.

Tiny: (Hiii! Hiiiii! Isn’t Benikyouki the rumoured fearsome Oni with a violent temperament……?)

The door of the shrine slides open, and a giant hand emerges, holding a box between its thumb and index finger.

The two youkai thank Benikyouki, and rush off with the box in tow.

Bull-faced: Now! Hurry hurry~~~~ One-eyed: If we don’t hurry up, we won’t make it in time before the herons leave for their journey! Bull-faced: Hah~~~~~ Why do we have to do something so pointless~~ Seriously——

They go to a cliffside. One-eyed opens the box, and a tiny white bird flies out.

One-eyed: There. It’s time for you to return to your flock. Don’t get caught again, got it?

One-eyed: ——If you want to thank someone, please thank Natsume-sama. We were reluctant, but he’s the one that made us help you. Right, Natsume-sama? Tiny: Huh…?

The herons fly away together, enveloping them in a sea of white.

With their work finished, the two youkai merrily return to their friends.

Bull-eyed: We’re back~~~~ Hinoe: Ohh, how was it? One-eyed: It was super—— difficult! We were almost squashed by giant feet, and almost fell into a valley… So many things, really! Gourd: *bounce* *thud* Hinoe: And? Did you do what Natsume asked you to do? Did the heron manage to escape? One-eyed: Of course!

Bull-faced: It wasn’t a place where humans could enter, but Natsume-sama said that he would like to see it through the end, so we had to put him in a form that other ayakashi wouldn’t notice in order for him to come with us. It was so stressful! Hah~~~~~ So tired~~~~~ Tiny: *sneak…* …… *shy…* ——Could it be… You’re that “Natsume-sama”...? …You have friends like that…?

Gourd: Hey, Mid-Ranks! Are we back!? I never asked you to bring me along! *KNOCK KNOCK* All I did was approach you guys for advice when the heron chick was captured! ——Hey!! Nyanko: ——Seriously, Natsume, fooling around on your own.

Tiny looks at Mouse awkwardly.

Tiny: …… …Then… You really are just a small guy…… …Do you want to come with me…? Mouse: *nod* Tiny: (That was the first big adventure that the cowardly me had ever experienced.) One-eyed: Hey! Those two tiny guys over there! Come here for a drink as well! When he was young he heard about the Wa'kata legend which said there were people who could "see" gold like no one else. So he went to the island. Being able to "see" gold means being able to pick out a vein or traces of it just at a glance.

The Goofy-resembling people welcomed him, and he found out they had no idea how much gold is worth. He tried to explain it, but they saw gold as an everyday metal that was pretty and fun to use.

They taught him how to make little gold statuettes, and he made one in the likeness of one of the members of the tribe. He's kinda a shitty artist, but that was ok, because he had fun making it! "It was the first time i had created something by hand, just for fun! It touched me"

before he left he promised the Wa'kata to always just view gold as a "simple game". He kept the statuette on top of his piles of money in the bin, and since he had it, he's been able to swim in the money.

Then "Glomgold arrived in my life". his desire to get richer than him infected scrooge as well. the statuette sank beneath the coins in the money bin as he collected more and more wealth to compete.

Then Donald found it and he felt really bad about not keeping his promise and becoming greedy again. "it was like waking up from a nightmare". He set up this whole deal with the idol and the biographer etc to show donald how he he woke up, and to apologize to the Wa'kata for breaking his promise

i just learned that a korean drama is in the making for this webtoon but it remains unscanlated.

i will edit each chapter in its entirety, i merely need translation help!!

this is the ultimate historical webtoon!! i would love to continue to bring yall more chapters but i need your help!! i struggle to understand the historical portions even armed with a dictionary.
