I've been rewatching the pitt with my mom and the clever usage of the medium as part of the storytelling continually impresses me. noticing how little room to breathe there is. there's no overwhelming dramatic music there's no lingering moments of silence and beautiful close-ups when someone dies there's no long sweeping establishing shots between scenes. there's no filler there's no fluff there's no time to debrief there's no "isn't this crazy, we're a tv show," there's no space for you, the viewer, to disconnect from the subject matter. you are in the deep end from minute one. this is a full, lived in world and people will continue to move at the pace the job demands with or without you. everything is pulled in every direction all at once and you have no choice but to keep up. it's so purposefully overwhelming and fully realized and grounded that you literally can't take your eyes away from the screen. it's masterful.

#I love you tv as an art medium #I love when tv is good #like. I didn't notice there was next to no background music until after I finished the whole show #and what a crazy difference that makes #there is no mechanism for you to separate yourself from the reality nothing is obviously a set no one is clearly an actor #all the dialogue is personalized and casual everyone's delivery is so believable #I can't describe it any better than. lived-in. it feels real. it feels human #it feels earnest in a way nothing in television has felt for a long time #idk. maybe im stupid but. i think they do a great job #the pitt

I find it a little poetic that, usually, plays have 5 acts, but isat has 6. And the sixth one is responsible for breaking the cycle. Like telling the viewer that "hey, it's not over. Your life isn't theatre. So go out and live."

#mine ☜#isat #in stars and time #i find it somewhat sad when people call their lives “character arcs” or “thropes”. like yeah it's a good joke but it's not real #your life doesn't have a set structure. it doesn't follow destiny. you're not just some puppet of the narrative. that's just the reality #you created for yourself in order not to feel completely meaningless in this blank world.#it's incredibly limiting. your character doesn't really dissapear until you die — there's no need to be dramatic about it just so you can #feel accomplished. and that's why i like act 6. it's unbelievable out of place with the usual “laws of the narrative”. yet it shows us the #most genuine parts of the characters and gives an even more satisfying ending than expected from arc 5.#like yeah girl overrule the norm. your life doesn't end just because the credits are showing. go touch grass or smth

in drama today we found an old recording of some half-improv in S3 on the pupil intranet and OHHHHH MY GOD i forgot how AWFUL it was 😭😭😭 actual shitshow

#happy pride month to the lesbian grandmothers 🙏🙏 they both had heart attacks one after the other. very romantic #ok so in this half-improve we had scenes set in the past and present #so all of us besides like. this one guy had two roles.#my role in the flashback part was a very sad mopey can't stand up for herself mother #half the time i'm sitting in a chair looking at my lap all sad and pathetic #but then at the end of the past part i was supposed to jump out and protect my adoptive son from being shot #HOWEVER my body decided this was a BRILLIANT time to have an absence #so my cue went. but i was just kinda. standing there absently because... i was having an absence #and my classmate who was playing my husband who was supposed to be shooting me was standing there silently freaking out because i wasn't—#—doing anything #and then i finally snap back into reality and am like “OH SHIT I'M SUPPOSED TO DIE”#so i go “ah!” (because i couldn’t scream in tha moment) and awkwardly fell to my death #i felt so bad afterwards you can see me walk off stage with the girls playing the grandmas(iirc?) and being like “I FUCKED UP 😭😭”#and when we were finished we went over that disaster too #our other teacher said the person playing my husband could’ve improved like. the gun being jammed or something until i regained consiousnes #but that's hard to think about when your panicking 😭😭#this wasn’t the only time this classmate would have to experience me have a seizure during a performance 😭😭#in our duologue i started overheating and had a partial (which freaked us both out)#luckily we had barely started it so we got to go from the top and did really well!#so yeah uhhh. Maybe this is just my personal bias, but I take 🤏 small issue with Caterina's hair being the messy bun. I feel like the braid would suit her really well (a metaphor for how entangled she and her grandchildren are? Meticulously wrapped together by her own hand? Goes straight down her back, for rigid form in their household, perhaps?). But any of the other low ponytails would work too.

If she got a unique character model then IMO, I would give her a very fancy braided low updo, very Renaissance-y, with perfectly symmetrically placed pins that are long enough for her to kill someone with (and she obviously already has, of course. She has her choice favourites). If she has to wear the Orchestrator's Long Coat, I'd also recolour her outfit so my rank and file Rook would not walk into her house wearing the same thing as her, Caterina of House Dellamorte, First Talon and matriarch of House Dellamorte. And Fletcher. No way Rook and Fletcher can wear the same thing as the Caterina Dellamorte.

One could argue she simply does not care for appearances but I doubt it. And even the stress of losing Lucanis could be used to say she's stopped caring but??? They are a wealthy family. Even when Lucanis is dressed down he is buttoned up. Illario's outfit, despite NPC models recycling assets, is a little extra ornate. This woman runs a tight ship.

Idk if it's just my own grandmother experience but a woman that fierce is sharp in all things. Including appearance. And idk the messy bun gives me fun grandma who does crafts with her grandkids. Coastal grandma.

Edit: I also think she would have the lip scar. It's so incredibly tiny, but is a slight, storied element. How did someone get close to her of all people?

#my paternal grandmother had the longest hair and it would be in a low bun from sunrise until sunset. she wore Vn clothing sets. very devout #and very minimal but very stern. she and I did not get along.#my maternal grandmother is a classist (can you tell I don't get on with my family lol) and when she left the house she would dress to #portray a specific outward appearance even when reality did not align.#bright red lipstick. hair perfectly curled and half pinned back. perfume. finest jewelry.#le whiny text post #might do some Caterina art. the other members of House Dellamorte are certainly not in dire need #this woman fascinates me

there is so much beauty in kcd and i'm so sad that the vast majority of content i see in terms of gifs and discussions and whatnot is about the hans/henry relationship. and even that is centered on their overtly romantic interactions in kcd2

#or making hans' character development about the romance #tangentially: i adore the scenes with hans and henry and fire. where something is set on fire or has been burned down #i loved the ride out of maleshov when there's a burned down village not so dissimilar from skalitz and hans is distraught at the sight of i #especially in contrast with the hunt in kcd1 where he is so excited to ask henry about the raid in skalitz and won't take no for an answer #until henry puts his foot down and he realizes that maybe it isn't a good idea #and necessary evil if that quest takes you to semine. that is still one of my favorite interactions with hans. when you ride back to trosky #in the dark and the reality of what just happened sets in and they plan their next moves
