Force Kernel Update on Ubuntu 22.04
Guys, I had a problem with the update of the Ubuntu kernel. I searched the Internet and saw an article posted on the Orcacore website. I worked with it and it was very charming and perfect. I really enjoyed myself. I decided to post this article here so you can find it helpful and use it. Of course, I will write the part I used in this article here and if you want, I will put the link to this article at the end so that you can visit it if you need more information.
First, you need to enter the below command to update the repository
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
After that, you need to add a repository to your Ubuntu
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tuxinvader/jammy-mainline -y
then, enter the below command and reboot your system
sudo apt-get install linux-generic-6.0
of course, with these commands you install kernel 6.0 on your Ubuntu, so if you need other versions to be installed on your Ubuntu, you need to add your desired repository.
upgrade Linux kernel ubuntu 22.04 to kernel version 6

some of my favorite DS games I never see people talk about (as a DS owner of 15 years) :
Petz Rescue Endangered Paradise
this is a random one, but it's genuinely really good. the characters have a lot of depth and are interesting. the characters design is really nice and I love the colors. teaches a lot about environmentalism and has an interesting story that plays with modern science and indigenous land. worth a play!
Tetris ds
such a cool version of tetris! i love all the extra modes and the classic NES Nintendo theme! lots of fun, and up there as one of my favorite versions of Tetris, and that's saying something.
Peggle ds
oh yeah. I had a peggle moment. that lasted a hot minute. thanks Doug Doug. I literally couldn't sleep because I was thinking about this game. and I really like this version of it! there's an extra kind of peg that isn't in the regular version and I think it's a nice addition, and it's every bit as satisfying but completely portable! not to mention it comes with both peggle and peggle nights!
Diddy Kong Racing ds
I have extremely vivid memories of playing this until my ds lite died, charging it, and then playing it again. i love that you can explore an open world in this game. it's the main thing that kept me coming back, but the racing is also lots of fun and the graphics feel so nostalgic and fun. I may have even played this solo more than Mario kart DS.
Mario Party ds
when I think of Mario party, this is what I think of. being able to play with one cartridge and 4 people anywhere is absolutely unmatched. and if you're alone, the solo play and puzzle games are really fun on their own! i still play this game with my little sisters regularly, and it was a classic in my childhood friend group. probably the most popular game on this list, but I wanted to mention it.
NYT Crosswords
such a cool game! the graphics are really well done and so are the sound effects. I love that there's a multiplayer option so you can solve a puzzle with a friend. I used to play it with my partner and it was lots of fun. the puzzles are a lot more difficult than modern day nyt crosswords, but they have a hint option if needed.
Bejeweled Twist
I got this game at a GameStop for like 5 bucks when I was a kid and I was genuinely hooked. I played it constantly. there's more to it than regular bejeweled so it kept my attention, but there's also lots of levels and puzzles
Art Academy
as an art student, I have to say that this game and it's sequels on the 3ds can function as essentially a semester or so of art school. they teach a lot of the basics in a really approachable way, and I learned a lot from them. also a big fan of how they replicated traditional media digitally. super charming and cute recurring characters, like Bacon the dog, make it feel more grounded. the lessons are really good, but it also just feels nice to doodle.
Gardening Mama
this was my favorite of the ___ing mama games when I was younger. I actually learned a lot about real gardening that ended up being helpful irl. it's a simple game, but being able to make your own garden and harvest from it is such a fun extra feature.
Retro Game Challenge
you get sent back in time and have to beat classic video games to get back. so much personality. it had me actually laughing at some points. the graphics are so classically DS and I love them. lots of fun!
G. G Series Wonderland
an Alice in wonderland themed top down shooter? uh yeah?? really fun and fast paced! i like to play this one mindlessly.
G. G Series Hero Puzzle
really cool! almost a tetris rogue-lite? there's combat and upgrades and weapons and its really fun!
GO Series Bass Fishing and Fishing Resort
my favorite fishing game!! so much personality! so many cute little mechanics and the characters are so cute! begging on my hands and knees for more people to play this game!!
Picross 3D
thank you to Best Buy for having this game on a tester DS back in the day. i love love love this one. the graphics are classic DS, and look so clean and fun. the puzzles themselves are so well designed, and I love the sound track. i have so many hours in this game it's maybe embarrassing. gotta say I was a little let down by the sequel because there was so much less personality, but it was still fun.
Over the Hedge: Hammy Goes Nuts
got this game with my original ds lite when I was around 8. I was so obsessed with it lol. there's a lot to do, and I always felt like I was exploring a big world. (not to be confused with the game of the same name on the GBA. for some reason that one is a golf game?)
DK Jungle Climber
genuinely very confused that I've never seen anyone talk about this one. it's a lot of fun and it was one of my favorites as a kid (my L button was broken though so it was a bit rough to play at the time lol) lots of personality, satisfying gameplay, and lots of fun levels to play!
Alice in Wonderland
reminds me a bit of a Metroidvania. cute characters and interesting dialogue. lots of interesting mechanics and fun to explore.
Wario Master of Disguise
i love the wario land games and this one is a fun one I never see lumped with the rest of them. there are some touch based micro games but I think they're fun and as is the case with every wario game, great level design and so much personality.
Sims 2 Castaway
try to pry this game out of my dead hands. try. i love this game. i have so many hours in it. lots of depth and fun things to do! the PSP version is also lots of fun!
Sudoku Ball
this is a funky one. solve sudoku puzzles that are in a big ball and also solve mysteries at the same time. a little bit layton-esque? also reminds me of detective Conan for some reason.
Tinker Bell
almost reminds me of animal crossing or stardew with lots of little mini games. one of my childhood faves.
Pac Pix
another childhood fave. you draw pacmen (? pacmans?) and catch ghosts. cool graphics and fun gameplay.
SEGA Super Stars Tennis
my favorite tennis game! so fun! the graphics are really cool, love all the character options, and the gameplay is so fun.
Tamagotchi Connection Corner Shop 3
build up little shops in a tamagotchi town! my mom used to get so mad because I used to play this game at full volume because I loved the sound effects lol. i particularly love the archeology game and the piano game, but they're all lots of fun.
#finally updated the kernel on my r4 so i can play my games on my 3ds :D#some of these are more niche than others but i thought they all deserved a comment#i tried to stick to ones that are def underrated#long post#sorry this is so long lol i got carried away#Nintendo ds#ds#nostalgia#ds games#nintendo 3ds#3ds#please feel free to comment on these games and add your niche faves!!

Woo got Linux working! On a related note I have gotten over any fear of breaking things through the command line and also can now roll back to an earlier system backup. Yes those are related. In my defense, breaking things in interesting ways is a great way to figure out what's actually going wrong.
#Had issues getting my trackpad to work and went through All The Drivers#thank you that one redditter who went through this same thing six months ago and figured out that installing a previous kernel fixed it#Official documents out random redditter in#RIP Windows 11 I shall not miss the 4 times you managed to force updates in the two non-consecutive hours I used you#Nor how each update progressively added more unwanted ad junk and invasive features#Save me Linux-Wan you're my only hope#The Cinnamon desktop seems adorable I'm looking forward to playing with its features tomorrow#Wow it's been awhile since a new OS has been exciting#Instead of Oh What Fresh Hell Is This

it’s so cool that the tf2 community has decided that valves new unreleased game is something nobody asked for :) :) :) and is actively trying to kill it while acting like valve can press a big red ban all cheaters and fix the game button and they won’t :)
#I fucking asked for it#and I’m so sick of people not giving a thought to how game development works#and just deciding your favorite 15+ year old game not getting content updates is malicious#it has a bot problem because valve doesn’t use an anti cheat that’s kernel level#if they did you’d all bitch about that too#even though none of you understand what kernel level even means#fucking annoying

installing linux on new computers is all fun and games until the kernel included with your distro version doesn't support your wifi chipset
#i'm in hell#i'm running on a shitty ethernet cable rn#tfw you're running the RTL8852BE but the kernel support started in 6.2#omw to update my kernel#i never thought this would matter but apparently when you have a computer that released less than one (1) year ago it does#tech#text#rambles

Fully convinced the reason bby is still going on a almost 6 year old hardrive is because I give her chassis panel where her hardrive is a lil kissy and tell her she's doing a good job when she starts-up and shuts-down without problems

It'll be so funny because I'm like. "UGH my drivers broke and now nothing is working correctly. I may as well just go to campus tomorrow because my workstation's so messed up" and then I realize that despite it being "super broken" I have the same amount of screenspace and my computer is still twice as fast as the one on campus with twice the hardware. Microsoft get on my level.

The initial post also misses how many programs ARE NOT SUPPORTED ON LINUX.
There are some alternatives, but GIMP will not replace Clip Studio Paint or magically make my tablet drivers work.
While Steam Proton is great for games, it's also not perfect and other game launchers are woefully behind on Linux support.
Plus, some vital programs such as Intel ME, which some motherboards require, can be the only way to update your BIOS and it's locked to Windows. (Actually ran into this issue recently when building a NAS. They legit will not let you flash it the traditional way.)
Not to mention, if you need the Adobe suite for school or your job requires it, you can't use Linux.
There are legitimate reasons beyond learning ability people aren't going to switch and will basically be forced to upgrade. That is the problem consumers are left with.
I talked about the problem of Windows system requirements being too damn high before, and how the windows 10 to 11 jump is especially bad. Like the end of Windows 10 is coming october 2025, and it will be a massive problem. And this article gives us some concrete numbers for how many computers that can't update from win10 to 11.
And it's 240 million. damn. “If these were all folded laptops, stacked one on top of another, they would make a pile 600 km taller than the moon.” the tech analysis company quoted in the article explains.
So many functioning computers that will be wasted. And it's all because people don't wanna switch to a Linux distro with sane system requirements and instead buy a new computer.
Like if you own one of these 240 million windows 10 computers, Just be an environmentally responsible non-wasteful person and switch that computer to Linux instead of just scrapping it because Microsoft says it's not good enough.
#also hey learning about this FOR THE FIRST TIME#I DIDN'T KNOW THEY WERE ENDING SUPPORT FOR 10 LIKE WTF THAT'S SO SOON???#windows 11 is such ass i don't want to touch it with a 10 foot pole#WHAT HAPPENED TO 10 BEING THE ''LAST WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM'' like that was a fucking lie#also i say this as someone who casually uses a linux VM#i barely understand it and i've been using mint for YEARS#there's also the kernel updates which requires a total reinstall of the OS that should be done every couple of years...#i'm somewhat savvy and build computers and i can't understand linux#it's like a foreign language

God I hate how normalized not being in control of your own devices has become. My phone updates in the middle of the night without asking me shit or getting my consent for anything and its like "Oh hi I'm your new AI, please enjoy this forced overlay that you can't exit out of until you go through my tutorial"
"Great fuck you, I would like to uninstall you" "Oh I'm sorry you can't uninstall me! I'm a core system application and if you uninstall me your phone won't function correctly despite the fact that I did not exist yesterday and your phone worked fine" "....." "You can disable parts of my functionality but I will always be here and I will pop up notifications asking you to re-enable me unless you figure out how to disable those too! Then I will still show up in a different color at the top of your settings application telling you that you need to 'fix" a 'problem' with your phone, that problem being that I am disabled. Does that help?"
Like, you know what I can do on my desktop? "sudo pacman -Rdd linux" , this will just fucking remove the entire linux kernel. Fundamentally breaking my computer until I boot up a live disk and chroot in and reinstall it or whatever, and the computer will go "Are you sure (y/n)" or whatever and i'm like "y" and it will just go "Ok you got it boss"
But its mine, I get to do what I want with it. I control the computer, the computer does not control me. I refuse to cede control to my phone or anything else. The thing is a lot of people will joke that like "Oh I love just letting the machine tell me what to do, I don't know what I'm doing, it knows best" or whatever but the thing you have to realize is that when you say that you are abstracting away that "the phone" or whatever is not some value neutral logic driven robot like from sci-fi, it is a collection of the the capitalistic and fascistic desires of the tech oligarch fuckwits that are burning the world to the ground right now. You aren't submitting to the phone, you are submitting to Musk, Bezos, Nadella, Pichai, Cook and all those other evil bastards.
Fuck them, fuck their little AI toys, and fuck this.

As someone who works in the reliability sector of IT I cannot emphasize how much you have to give 0 fucks about professional standards and best practices in order to do something like what Crowdstrike did.
At the company I work for, which you have definitely heard of, there are thousands of people (including me, hi) part of whose job it is to sit in rooms for literal hours every week with the people building new features and updating our software and ask them every question we can possibly think of about how their changes might impact the overall system and what potential risks there are. We brainstorm how to minimize those risks, impose requirements on the developers, and ultimately the buck stops with us. Some things are just too risky.
Many of the practices developed at this and other companies are now in wide use across the industry, including things like staggered rollouts (i.e. only 1/3 people get this update at first, then 2/3, then everyone) and multi-stage testing (push it to a fake system we set up for these purposes, see what it does).
In cases where you’re updating firmware or an os, there are physical test devices you need to update and verify that everything behaves as expected. If you really care about your customers you’ll hand the device to someone who works on a different system altogether and tell them to do their worst.
The bottom line here is that if Crowdstrike were following anything even resembling industry best practices there should have been about twenty failsafes between a kernel bug and a global update that bricked basically every enterprise machine in the world. This is like finding out the virus lab has a direct HVAC connection to the big conference room. There is genuinely no excuse for this kind of professional incompetence.

Arch is exceptionally stable if you take the time to update it every day.
However, the longer you go without updating, the possibility of the system imploding upon updating goes up EXPONENTIALLY. I had Asahi Arch on my Mac and I eventually gave up on it because I forgot to update it for a few months. Shit was unsalvageable.
This is why Gentoo is the greatest. I just recently updated my installation after 9 months of neglect and beyond a few build-time errors (fucking Python) it all went swimmingly. It took 2 days to update but that’s the price you pay, I guess.
Imagine not wanting debian trademark stability. Bestie that arch install will Stop at the worst possible moment, possibly catch fire and take all your loves ones away from you
#just dont mention the time I SOMEHOW had two instances of grub installed at the same time on different yet identically named boot shims#that was interesting. and by interesting I mean a pain.#the worst part is that I didn’t notice until a kernel update didn’t work. oh boy that was a fun one#anyways. gentoo and stuff#gentoo#linux#linuxposting

Hi hello!!! I want to say I LOVE your fearlnette au its so good!!! I been binge reading it. I’m amazed how much character and detail and emotions depth there is!!! I simply adore the artwork, the colors??? The background symbolism, the hidden hod eyes and alya’s fox ears??? AMAZING 10/10.
I’m super curious on how you make the comics, like how long it takes and what program you use. What made you decide to have each panel or centric scene have certain colors? Was it a style choice or something else? I love the way you wrote marinette and Felix, they are such good characters and I love them. Adrien and kugami and good too!!
Also what are your thoughts on the canon show? How does canon influence or change your au?
thank u for all the lovely compliments! I'll start from the top
how long it takes to draw: -takes about a day to frame everything / rough composition / rough dialogue -another day for lineart - if I'm lucky, sometimes it can take two -another day for rendering everything -I usually spend my weekends working on the update between working fulltime at my irl job. each technical "update"/"scene" is anywhere between 50 and 80 frames long, posted in full on patreon, and they're cut up by sections to post on tumblr due to tumblr's 30 panel limit
what program: I use csp. i used to use photoshop but she's dead to me now
why the colors: I like gradient maps a lot and they're a good tool to manipulate the mood in a subtle way, or hint at things. they're also really pretty when using a style that heavily relies on contrast and texture, which ended up being the main bread and butter of feralnette
thoughts on the canon show: if I didn't at least have a kernel of affection for the OG I wouldn't be working on this au, but I will admit binging the shit out of the series during quarantine put it somewhere permanent inside me. as a whole it could use some polishing, or at least some sense of self. idk how to explain it, the series suffers from "a little bit of everything" and cant seem to figure out what it wants to be, which leaves it meandering on the genre board and that can make the characters' motivations and arcs lacking as a result.
how does uodating canon influence your au: for feralnette, it kinda doesn't. the comic takes place a bit after season 3 so everything that's established is established. for my other aus, it can add some crispy lore or step on its own toes and make me flinch like im dancing at a gala with an impertinent partner
