7 Key Factors That Drive Land Appreciation in Nigeria
7 Key Factors That Drive Land Appreciation in Nigeria Investing in land is one of the most secure and time-tested ways to build long-term wealth. However, not all land investments are equal. The key to maximizing returns lies in understanding what drives land appreciation—that is, the increase in a land’s value over time. Whether you’re a first-time buyer or a seasoned investor, knowing the…

Disney World™ is one of the most cursed and haunted places on the planet.
As a student of magic you know this and aren't too enthused by the prospect of spending your hard-earned vacation as a guest of the mouse, but your parents insist that throwing away thousands of dollars in disposable income at a resort in Orlando, Florida is a once in a lifetime opportunity that'll result in the creation of eternally treasured memories.
The godlike fairy responsible for most of your education and upkeep, who all but runs your life and appears to care for you marginally more than the two donors who brought you into this world, agrees that going is a horrible idea.

when I was younger I had an urban fantasy universe where religious symbols repelled vampires on a “faith of the weilder” basis; but also, it was a magic universe where magic sigils and circles and amulets were how you channel ambient magic in the universe to focus and direct it and do what you want, and religious symbols operated in a similar manner. Faith was required to actually give the religious symbol any power to repel vampires, but also, the more distinct and intricate the symbol was, the better it was able to concentrate and direct that faith power. A Star of David is good, and a hamsa is great; a crucifix works well but a plain cross is useless.
Partially this was born of my frustration with the use of crosses on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but also I think partially it was me sticking it to the Protestants.

Too many homeless people?
Build cheap houses, and make sure people live in them. Also don't make it illegal to live in a building that's not being used FFS. "squatting" being illegal is one of the stupidest things holy fuck.

The Flower House
Last chance to check out the video!!
youtube
Now let's wrap up this week's weird and wacky location by taking a look at some exteriors as well as the interior of some of the outbuildings!!
Down a long overgrown driveway lies this incredible abandoned farmhouse. Surrounded by farm fields this property has been sitting for at least 20 years untouched and nature truly has taken over. The house and land are full of possessions that the owners Paul and Claire left behind after their deaths.
They were married in 1947 and Paul is of Ukrainian descent.
Paul was a farmer and has spent his retirement years making sculptures as a way to try and stay young by keeping his mind busy. He would scavenge the local dump for things he could use in his pieces as well as repurposing his old farming machinery. The driveway was lined with windmills and steel flower sculptures, which were all products of his creativity. He also liked to make things that moved such as swings made from various found objects.
If you dig deeper into the overgrowth you would see that he was a bit of a hoarder of large items, with cars from as early as the 50s, a hospital gurney and even an old porcelain autopsy table!
But the collections didn't stop in the yard, Claire also enjoyed collecting and one of the rooms in the house was filled with her obsession.
The farm was a popular spot for passersby to stop and take photos, it was a bit of a tourist attraction. But this also brought some unwanted attention to his property, with thieves targeting his farm. He erected a fence and put in a gate and cemented his sculptures into the ground along the fenceline.
Claire passed away in 1999 followed by her husband Paul in 2003. The property has sat abandoned ever since and stands as a memorial to their lives.
I will leave you with a quote from Paul: "What keeps a mind workin', is what keeps the body goin' eh"

Me, a casual urban planning hobbyist: what if we had dense, walkable neighborhoods with narrower roads, limited motor traffic, designated bike lanes, well-thought out public spaces based on the historic concept of the 'town square' or 'commons', public transport corridors with ideally light or heavy rail as well as buses, integration of urban and natural environments, thoughtful mixed use zoning and building design, wheelchair accessibility which will also help other disabled people/parents with strollers, incorporating current structures into the urban plan where possible to maintain character and prevent waste.
Seemingly every city designer and politician in my country whose job is to be an expert at this shit: bigger road!!!! more car!!! less tree means more road??? demolish historic building?? cars and roads!!!! toll roads!! wait why is the traffic so bad?

Of course climate has the final say on the location of cities. Clueless planners looking for a quick profit create misery for the people who will be living in those locations in just a few decades.

For their Sneaking Out of Heaven Tour show at House of Blues in Orlando, FL (night 1), Awsten wears a custom bleach-dyed Urban Pipeline thermal long sleeve top. Most similar I could find pictured (not available).
Thank you to Josh Madden for confirming this was bought second-hand in this condition!
