so, so random.

While the barracks aren’t the most ideal location for a young lieutenant to seek privacy in, it’s sometimes a necessity and Vex has found himself positively desperate for relief. 

His latest spar with Commander Morando had turned a bit more hands-on than usual…

He’s nearly there – pleasure swiftly climbing to its peak – when the door to the large bunkroom suddenly squeaks open. Not that he notices. Oh, no. It’s not until the Commander is looming over him, close enough for Vex to catch his scent that he even realizes he’s no longer alone.

All four of Vex’s eyes pop open, and the shock of suddenly seeing the man he’d been fantasizing about standing casually before him sends him hurtling over the edge. “Morando!”

“That’s Commander Morando to you, Varvatos Vex,” Morando says, his tone low and gruff as he leans forward to place his palms on either side of a still-convulsing Vex. “I’m very happy to see our little spar had the same effect on you. Care to give your commanding officer a hand?”

Vexando was totally a thing in the past and no one can convince me otherwise.

BUT

>Vex’s feelings for Morando blind him to Morando’s darker side.  He doesn’t want to believe one of his greatest friends and allies (someone who he’s beginning to realize he has further affections for, and is slowly gaining the confidence needed to act upon) can be so cruel, and so he doesn’t.  Vex makes excuses to himself, reasons that truly Morando couldn’t be who he is (who everyone says he is).  There has to be a deeper, truer reason to Morando’s actions (even when there isn’t).

>It gets to the point where Morando does something major (the cause of his exile by the king and queen).  Vex isn’t informed upon the details, so he still doesn’t completely believe.  Although he begins to (too many events and details have piled up for him not to waver at least a little in his convictions).

>Because of his conflicting emotions over what he wants to believe and what the truth is, Vex decides thinking of Morando is too painful.  He begins to pursue other relationships, and tries forget about Morando.  It would be better to just move on and let go of his feelings than continue with something that cannot end well, he decides.

>While in exile, Morando assumes Vex will remain loyal to him over all else.  After all, they matter more to each other than anything.  That’s how it’s always been.  They’ve fought for each other, not the crown or its cause (or at least that’s what Morando believes).  When Morando returns to claim what is rightfully his, Vex will stand with him.  Of course, he will.  How could he do anything else?

>When Morando hears that Vex has started a family, it breaks him.  He will never admit it, but it does.  He turns his hurt into rage.  This is when his plan to hire the Zeron Brotherhood to take out Vex’s family forms.

>Morando’s plan does work, and Vex agrees to lower the shields for the attack.  Though the fact that he has to promise vengeance for Vex’s family does irk Morando.  He wanted them gone so he could reclaim his rightful place as the sole proprietor of Vex’s affections.

>It infuriates Morando that Vex then chose to protect the royal children instead of joining him too.

>The attack on Coronation Day was the last straw for Vex to truly realize who Morando is, and it breaks his heart.  To an extent, he blames himself.  He wonders if he could have influenced Morando into being different, but, in the end, he has to accept that that was who Morando was.  Still, it takes Vex a long time to recover from his heartbreak and truly move on.

Um agente da PSP de Leiria, indiciado do crime de violência doméstica agravado, ficou proibido de usar armas, consumir bebidas alcoólicas, contactar vítima e filhos e de se aproximar da casa destes, anunciou a Procuradoria.

“O Tribunal determinou que o arguido aguardasse os ulteriores termos do processo sujeito às medidas de coação de não adquirir ou não usar armas brancas ou de fogo, bem como de não adquirir ou consumir bebidas alcoólicas, de não permanecer nem se aproximar da residência da vítima e dos filhos e do local de trabalho da mesma, com fiscalização através de meios eletrónicos de controlo à distância, e de não contactar com a vítima e filhos por qualquer meio”, refere a Procuradoria da República da Comarca de Leiria.

De acordo com informação disponibilizada no sítio na Internet da Procuradoria, o Ministério Público apresentou a semana passada a primeiro interrogatório judicial um arguido não detido, de 49 anos.

“O Tribunal considerou fortemente indiciado que o arguido, agente da Polícia de Segurança Pública, molestou verbal, física e psicologicamente a vítima, durante o casamento de ambos, sobretudo a partir de 2019, no concelho de Leiria”, adianta.

A Procuradoria explica que “o arguido dirigiu à vítima nomes ofensivos, insultando-a e vexando-a, e controlou o conteúdo do seu telemóvel, contra a vontade e sem o consentimento da mesma”.

Ainda segundo a mesma fonte, “em três ocasiões distintas, o arguido desferiu uma palmada na parte de trás da cabeça da vítima, um empurrão no seu tronco e agarrou-a por baixo dos braços, na zona do tronco, segurou-a e apertou-a, por trás, após o que lhe encostou o punho fechado à cabeça”.

A Procuradoria acrescenta que na quarta-feira, “após a vítima lhe ter dado a saber que queria o divórcio, o arguido disse-lhe que a matava e que, a seguir, se matava a ele próprio”.

A investigação é dirigida pelo Ministério Público do Departamento de Investigação e Ação Penal de Leiria com a coadjuvação do Núcleo de Investigação e de Apoio a Vítimas Específicas do Comando Territorial de Leiria da GNR.

Fonte do Comando Distrital de Leiria da PSP disse à Lusa que “o arguido est�� de baixa médica e já se encontrava desarmado”, tendo sido “instaurado um processo disciplinar”.

ANYTHING YOU WANT

vexando - 359 words - angst

um. so i’m kinda diggin this emotionally eff’ed up, completely dysfunctional would-be couple. not entirely sure i’ll write for them again, but we’ll see.

The bar on Elvarion-7 is not a pretty place – dark and dingy, with a foul odor that clings to clothes and follows you home – but the thick coat of dust doesn’t bother Varvatos Vex. In fact, the gloom is what attracted him to the establishment in the first place. It offers refuge from the bright lights of Akiridion-5’s nightclubs and more privacy than the military dives his compatriots frequent out on the Taylon outpost.

That, and the drinks are cheap.

Not that he needs to worry about money anymore. There’s no one left to support, no niece to buy fluffy stuffed sagaforths for or brother to treat to a night at the foo-foo fights. No one. Save himself, because he couldn’t save them.

The thought makes him moan miserably into his empty cup, and he’s just starting to contemplate another draft when a heavy, solid hand settles on his shoulder. His first instinct is to attack, but the touch is familiar and he finds himself leaning into the comforting contact instead.

“General Morando, sir.”

“It’s Val,” Morando says, though the gentleness in his tone is cut through with something firm and commanding. “I think you’ve earned the right to call me by name in private, don’t you?”

Vex would blush, if he weren’t feeling so wretched. “Val,” he mutters, gaze slowly turning up from the sticky bar. “Varvatos did not think you would find him here.”

“I will always find you, Varvatos.” It sounds like a promise. Or a threat. Maybe both. “Now come with me, away from this place. We have work to do.”

Vex tilts his head in confusion.

“You are special, Vex. Skilled, deadly… passionate.” Morando’s lip curls into an appreciative leer. “And you want vengeance, don’t you?”

“But the king and queen –“

“Don’t you?”

“Yes.”

“Then I will give it to you.” Morando dips forward, his breath ghosting over Vex’s cheek. “I’ll give you anything you want.”

He lingers for a moment – savoring the way his favorite commander’s eyes fall shut – then turns abruptly on his heel, not doubting for even an instant that Vex will follow.

And, of course, he does.

“Did you just hiss at me?”  Morando leans forward, resting an arm on one of his knees.  He and Vex are alone in the barracks, so they have the ability to be more relaxed with out an audience of subordinates.

“Are you judging me?  The mighty Varvatos Vex?”  Vex leans back in his seat.

Morando finds the smirk on Vex’s face far too smug.  “Perhaps the commander deserves a reprimand.”  Morando stands and strides over to Vex.  He moves his arm subtly so it causes his cape to billow out behind him while he looms over him.  “For his attitude toward his superior officer.”

“My attitude is both GOOD and HONORABLE!”  Vex shoves himself up, so he and Morando are facing each other, their chests mere centimeters apart.  “Vex thinks his officer should do better to appreciate such noble traits.”  The way he says the words Morando recognizes as both a taunt and a flirtation.

“Oh, but I do,” Morando purrs.  He reaches out and places a hand on Vex’s shoulder.  “As I do your most intriguing quirk of referring to yourself in the third person.”

The blush would have been unperceptable to anyone who didn’t know Vex extremely well.  He turns his head so Morando can’t see it regardless.  “Vex knows it pleases his love.”

“Yes, yes it does.”

Absolutely boundless bastardry. Also most of his actual character design, even though he’s really fucking hard to draw. There are few things about him that I don’t love.

random headcanon

Morando wasn’t originally on track to become an officer because he was determined to be excessively violent and unpredictable while he was still in the dyinent, but he was later fast tracked to becoming an officer since they figured it was fairly pointless due to the fact that Akiridion was in an active conflict at the time and expected that he’d die on the battlefield. Obviously he didn’t and continued to climb the ranks, but he never got proper social training which is why he’s not very good at diplomacy.

Morando isn’t a man. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In general I don’t HC Akiridians as having a gender binary at all similar to what we see in humans, but even in AUs where he’s human/groks human gender, he identifies as agender, maybe genderfluid. I also HC him as very dysphoric.

23. A kiss that tastes of the food/dessert they are eating.

This takes place in an AU where Varvatos remained on Akiridion-V after the coup and became Morando's consort.

Morando's kiss is sweet and tastes like alvirest berries. They're a luxury for a common soldier, and yet Varvatos's wife would save up to make cakes with them for their children's birthdays. Those cakes were dense and dry. The berries were sparse throughout the cake. But they were made carefully, with love for their children.

The cake served to King Morando and his consort is bursting with flavor. It is light and airy, and yet it remains moist. The cake has multiple layers, and holding each layer together is a thick spread of alvirest jam.

Morando's kiss is sweet, and Varvatos lets that overpower the guilt, if only for a mekron.

Eyyy I actually managed to get this into an actual drabble! (Yes, drabbles being exactly 100 words is a hill I'll die on.)

Morando had promised.

He had promised that no one would be hurt. He had promised that Varvatos would have his vengeance.

Only one of those was partially true.

Morando had promised that Varvatos would be greatly rewarded for his betrayal. And Varvatos had been rewarded, but not as being consort to Morando. No, Varvatos had been rewarded with the children whose parents had been hurt by Varvatos's actions. He did not deserve them, just as he hadn't deserved his family, not when he was unable to protect them as he should have.

He wouldn't make that mistake with the children.

18. putting a blanket on them

This takes place before Morando's exile but after Varvatos's family was killed. This would also take place before the two of them enter a relationship.

CW: I see vexando (in canon, at least) as a manipulative relationship at best and an emotionally abusive relationship at worst so be warned that that is how I wrote them here.

Soldiers weren't supposed to sleep outside the barracks. Either they had homes to return to, or they were supposed to sleep inside. And yet, there were alcoves outside the barracks. They were probably there for structural integrity, but they were used for sleeping. It was an open secret - something not allowed, but barely reprimanded for. Besides, the alcoves were uncomfortable, so much so that they were only used by soldiers too tired to return home.

Too tired, or too emotional. Perhaps their families didn't understand the weight the soldiers were under - there was always a strain in marriages between a taylon and a weak commoner.

Or perhaps their home was too empty and too full at the same time. Perhaps their home carried memories of a now-dead family.

That was probably why Varvatos was tucked into an alcove, sound asleep with a face pinched with concern.

Morando sighed. As a commanding officer, he really should wake Varvatos and send him home. But, Morando was trying to encourage Varvatos to break the rules for him, so it would be in his best interests to prove that he was willing to do the same, if only a little.

Morando checked his files. No one was in the barracks, so he snuck in. They hadn't changed since he was young, and the spare blankets were still kept in the same spot as ever. Morando exited the barracks and draped a blanket across Varvatos's chest. He didn't stir, though his face smoothed out ever so slightly.

Hmm. Perhaps Morando would tell Varvatos about this later, and offer him alternative accommodations for sleeping when his home was too much for him.

Morando chuckled darkly. Offering alternative accommodations was the least he could do, after all, when he was the reason why Varvatos couldn't return home.
