I think the MHA fandom would be so much better if people stopped being upset by the fact that others like the villains. Accept the fact that someone is gonna have different taste and will like characters you don't. Everyone is different. People have liked villains since the beginning of time. It does not mean they condone what they do. It's a story, a work of fiction.
Oh and when you see someone worried about their favorite dying don't comment on how horrible they are or that they deserve it. Can we not be considerate . If I see someone loving a character I hate it doesn't phase me. I keep scrolling. Never have I thought "Oh I need to tell them they are wrong"

The thing is, I'm not a villain apologist. They've committed the most unthinkable atrocities and can't be excused but I'm their defense lawyer and I'm standing by them til the end.

I'm so sorry he murdered and tortured a lot of people, I'm sorry he's so mean, I'm sorry for everything he's done ❣️
Please forgive Feitan Portor.
I can't fix him, you can't fix him, we can't fix him, he will never be fixed but that's alright! 🥰

thinkin about my love of unapologetically selfish characters, and how I think it stems from being the opposite of autistic masking. I see characters with traits I relate to, which have been societally deemed unlikable, who respond NOT by bending and bowing and faking for everyone else's comfort at their own expense, but by sticking up two middle fingers and saying "I'm me whether you like it or not, and I'm on my side even if no one else is. Especially if no one else is. I deserve to take up space and if I'm unlikable that's your problem." And I am obsessed. Enthralled. My palms and face are pressed against the shop window fogging up the glass with desperation-- give me that one! I want that one! Take my money I love him!! It's a shame so many of those characters are, like, serial killers or whatever. Huge Stinky Jerks at best. Actually it's not a shame, it's a feature not a bug, if I have to mask then he gets to kill people, those are the rules. Yes bitch slay!! or whatever the kids say

It’s always been funny to me, how a whole ass fandom - at least the depths of it - find ourselves more and more drawn into a story and characters where the protagonists, in fact, are deeply disturbed criminals who we all know are shitty scumbags and we mostly reckognize this with the shrug normal adults will give this, because well, we know the the difference between real life and fiction. And then, unfortunately there are those who turn to “well, MY favorite deeply disturbed criminal at least didn’t cross THAT line AND they’re one of the MAIN characters, but YOURS did so now YOU are actually rooting for their highly shitty behavior IRL and that means YOU are, more or less, a psychopath who should be punished”. Meanwhile the sane and mature part of the fandom pats our evil little villains on the head with a: “Don’t worry, my sweet hell spawn. I’ll protect you from the idiots who think fiction is reality. Now, how about a cookie and blowing up an orphanage?” Like, if you doubt whether or not your moral standards will be shot in sank from a show, then maybe you’re simply not mature enough to watch it and should wait a few more years. That’s perfectly okay too.

calico jack slayed and im tired of pretending he didnt. he showed up, fucked around, and successfully manipulated his oldest friend all because Izzy asked him to. he is somehow the dumbest and also the smartest character in that episode all while being whipped for a guy that doesnt want him. and he’s even blond.

i find it funny how people praise the owl house for breaking the trend of redeeming the villain when the show instead took the laziest path with dealing with their villain. i mean, i get it. not all villains need to be redeemed and sometimes, it's just fine to kill them off or defeat them. no character is irredeemable, but sometimes the point is that people refuse to change.
but what they did with belos was just lazy. he didn't need to be redeemed, sure, but his ending was way too anti-climactic. he was such a complex character to just be labelled as Pure Evil™ and killed off at the end. he didn't need to be redeemed, but he at least deserved to be acknowledged as the three-dimensional complex character that he is. he wasn't just a disney-esque villain who did everything for power and had no depth to his personality. he was a symbol of religious trauma and how it affects people. he was a horrible person but also a sympathetic one, because i can only imagine how harmful growing up in the puritan era would have been.
like i said before, the show being cancelled is not an excuse. i was so excited to see all the religious and spiritual themes in belos's past, and all the theories that fans were coming up with. hell, some fans did a better job of representing belos than the show ever did. i just feel like it was a whole bag of lost potential. belos could have been one of the most insanely complex and well-written villains but the creators of the owl house wants to impress its fans, so they pull a "haha we're not like other shows because we can't sympathize with the villain!" newsflash: you don't need to redeem the villain in order to portray them as sympathetic. azula from avatar and simon from infinity train are good examples of sympathetic villains/antagonists who don't get redeemed.
it's even more ridiculous considering how rushed and badly written lilith's arc was, even though she cursed her sister, tried to kill a literal child, and almost got her sister turned to stone. you'd think if the show despises redemptions so much, they wouldn't give lilith a lazy and rushed redemption arc like that, only to render her useless for the rest of the show.

Me: I’m definitely not getting obsessed over this man and the injustice of him being the bad guy.

Dear Dabi fans: spoilers
Remember, it's a manga. This means build up and drama. Drawing out a huge plot point. Why make Shoto get there, very dramatically, only to have Dabi explode? It would be plain stupid. How many times has that happened with a major plot point and mayor characters. It fails. That's like a huge build up, it keeps growing and growing and growing, but you never get the pay off. You only get a tiny bit of poof. It's not very satisfying, huh? No.
Can you image if that's how stories worked .
Think about how unappealing that is.
Why even draw out Shoto racing there if that's the case. Obviously, Shoto gonna save his family, THAT'S A SATISFYING END. (BTW Dabi is his fam)
Breath, Dabi didn't die.
Hori is trying to have an epic moment for an epic character. It sucks ass that we gotta wait another week ( if not more) for the big conclusion.
Please Mha God Hori sir, let my 3 babies make it alive (with Tomura still an adult)
Big hugs to all Dabi fans. Now, if I can be this optimistic when it comes to my love, Shigaraki, I'm probably gonna have a breakdown.
PLEAE DONT BE NEGATIVE ON THIS POST. IT'S MEANT TO BE A POSITIVE HOPE FOR FANS OF DABI. If you don't like him, that's cool, but let us that do be. We are scared and stressed and sad right now. This is a hopeful space.

i also genuinely don't understand the hatred for the tubbo hole? not only because no one has a problem with felps' square, but also because the two people who hate it the most have done so much worse AT SPAWN, while tubbo chose a bunch of chunks no one was using, asked permission for it and then went on with his plan? also he keeps telling people that everyone will be able to access it and take things from it, that is very much a thing he wants to do? there are bigger things to complain about on the islan

you know what? rip jadis thank you for your service to the plot. that human trafficking creep was their cuntiest and most interesting nemesis - i did love to hate that obsessive freak and appreciated the dimension she brought to the story and the exit they gave her was beautifully done, having her arc echo rick's, showing us the headspace he inevitably would've ended up in had michonne not been able to bring him back to himself? + "i wish i'd died an artist" *chef's kiss* storytelling! also pollyanna was just 10/10 throughout

Random thought but Edmund didn't actually 'turn in' Mr Tumnus. He didn't know who the White Witch was or that she was evil and wasn't the rightful ruler of Narnia. He just said his sister was there once before and met a man named Mr Tumnus. She was again manipulating the situation to make Edmund look bad. Like bitch leave my baby alone 🤚

"i'm teaching a monkey yao a forbidden method of immortality!!!" girl... what were YOU doing knowing a forbidden method of immortality
[ID: A three page comic done in white and shades of purple. Characters are uncolored, but have shading.
First panel has Patriarch Puti and Sun Wukong walking in an enclosed back garden, with Sun Wukong looking up at Patriarch Puti seriously as his sifu speaks. Patriarch Puti says, "These techniques, although effective, are dangerous. They are teachings outside of known doctrine. What you have done is stolen the creative powers of Heaven and Earth, intruded on the dark machinations of the moon and sun."
Second panel has Sun Wukong considering this somberly. He says, "Sifu... That's..." He processes for a moment, and says "Wait-"
In the third panel, Sun Wukong looks up at Patriarch Puti with a knowing mischievous grin, while Patriarch Puti looks very tired, as if he already knows what SWK is about to say. Sun Wukong asks, "If they're so unknown and forbidden, how do you know them then?"
Fourth panel has Patriarch Puti simply stating, "Wukong, as the next generation, your responsibility is to learn from the mistakes of your elders." Sun Wukong responds, "ha okay." In the background, with the caption "Several hundred years ago," there is a flashback of a young Patriarch Puti running away as a strike of lightning barely misses his feet.
End ID]
#journey to the west#jttw#xiyouji#sun wukong#monkey king#patriarch puti#puti shifu#had two concepts for patriarch puti in my head and was not sure which one im gonna go with#one ver is where he was just as reckless and a menace as swk in his youth but he either mellowed out as he grew older#or somethingTM happened to make him realize his actions have consequences#and thus he has a soft spot for swk because he sees a bit of himself in swk#second version is where he's always been serious and mellow but now that he's this old he kinda regrets not acting out more#and thus he respects swk's boldness and wishes to somewhat nurture that boldness#🤔 but now i think im going with an in-between ver#being a puti shifu who was very skilled and bold and gifted in his youth but all his rebelliousness was spent on more self-serving things#rather than fighting any injustices in the system like swk#nd now that he's older he regrets that and he's a teacher now wanting to pass his skills onto new generations to do some good now#<- btw re: the wording of swk 'fighting injustice in the system'-#-i am a swk apologist <3 yaoguai rights <3 but i also dont wanna give off the impression that i think he was 100% entirely in the right-#-villain swk rights <3#but yeah i think while he was at puti's school (constantly reminded he's not a human or immortal) he was moreso of the mind:#'fucking sucks that yaoguai are mistrusted and not treated the same'#and that remains his core motivating factor but as he grows more power and leaves puti's side he kinda kinda loses sight of that a bit ykno#as he gets more megalomaniac yaoguai warlord#anyways yea#swk was still right tho <3 <- correct
