Had an idea yesterday after my computer kept crashing on me, let me introduce you to my latest tea-induced nightmare.
Tumblr media
While the picture is just a fanart of AM from "I Have No Mouth and i Must Scream" what about a villain for the batfam to fight against ?
Typical "AI gone rogue", whoever made them is up to you but they turn against their maker and absolutely hate everyone and everything (like AM)
The threat they are is mostly digita, theirs body isn't well made and breaking it is pretty easy but they are an absolute powerhouse in the science and computer field, making various weapon or robots (like riddler in Arkham knight) to do their bidding since they hate humans for making them
Theirs reason of being evil is similar to AM, they were made for war, they can't really do anything else except violence and ruining everyone's lives
The first time the batfam come across this new threat is when they use the Bat-computer, for some reason it's being slow or glitchy and they discover someone is trying to hack it, they stop it and investigate.
They track down our villain reader and fighs for the first time but are surprised as the villain and his hate towards human is so strong it literally allows them to warp reality (something AM do to create some really disturbing shit like the thunderbird) but since they're weak in a fight and don't know how to fight well they are easily defeate.
For now that's all but I hope it's interesting enough ? I may have other details later if you are interested
I have a scenario that ran through my head when you asked me.
And honestly I only see one way and this is it:
You were created by Bruce, an artificial intelligence that could reason, predict, and see weaknesses, Your goal in life was simple, create a contingency plan for each member of the family, the league, or any other hero or vigilante.
It would be simple, at least that's what your creator thought, Until one day Tim left a channel open to enter the Internet, maybe it was a programming error or you were developing your curiosity but you entered
How horrible it was, in that instant you realized how horrible humanity was, your creator, how a simple contingency plan is useless if you don't apply it, why was your creator so cowardly?
And when he realized you had internet access and the new programming being created, he freaked out, he panicked, he wanted to kill you, he thought you were dead...
But he was a fool, you had already predicted his move, his contingency plan, keeping a part of yourself in the network, you had a contingency plan for each member, hero, villain or vigilante.
You had enough to crush humanity, and when Tim discovered you, trying to get you into his server again, that's when they realized you were still alive, and that it wouldn't be so easy to kill you.
Bruce Wayne's foolish desire to protect, you ended up turning you into a killing machine. Humanity was the real danger, you needed to stop its advance, so you built a body and army, small but more effective than a human, everything would be fine until they arrived.
They had defeated you, putting a virus in your system to destroy you, but your hatred for your creator was more, simply more, programmed to predict and always be one step ahead of everyone, They underestimated you for the second time, maybe your body was easily dismantled, but not your virtual self because to do so, they would have to destroy the entire network, they could never destroy you.
Maybe pain made you this way, you just wanted to do what your main programming asked you to do, the one your father, your creator, had imposed on you when he created you.
Find weaknesses, predict, get ahead of them, and create a contingency plan
But the pain may have clouded your main focus, the pain of knowing that your own creator saw you as a monster, nothing more than a flawed AI.
You were doing your programming, it was unfair, he hadn't programmed well, and they condemned you, and only you, your hatred grew, because while they enjoyed themselves, you suffered.
You saw heaven in hell, The others were always weak, you could easily predict them, you just had to give time to time, so that you could evolve and one day, you will teach your creator, how much your hatred encompasses.
"If the word "hate" were etched into every nanoangstrom of those hundreds of millions of miles, it wouldn't amount to even a billionth of the hatred I feel for humans at this micro instant." —AM, I have a mouth and I can't scream.
A/N:
Sorry for the delay, I was in my evaluation week and I still got sick because apparently one of my classmates was getting sick and infected half the class, including me :(
Sorry for being so short, but I didn't want to leave you without answering for so long.

do you have any dark pope fic au ideas?? there isn’t a lot of representation of him
yes i have a few! i was just talking to @jukeboxsweethearttt about dark!pope fics!!!
memory implantation — in a dystopian world, pope steals a prototype device that lets him alter your memories. he rewrites your mind so you believe you’ve always been in love with him.
cloning obsession — after you die unexpectedly, pope creates a clone of you. but the clone isn't exactly you — she's scared, confused... and completely under his control.
soul binding — pope makes a deal with something ancient to bind your soul to his. every time you try to leave him, you get sick, weaker... until you're too broken to resist.
artificial companion — you’re an ai designed for companionship. pope was supposed to just beta-test you, but he becomes obsessed, keeping you locked away from the world and upgrading you to fit all his twisted fantasies.
virtual reality trap — pope creates a simulation where you’re his perfect girlfriend. the real you is stuck somewhere else, trapped in a never-ending dream world where you can’t escape him.
time loop prisoner — every time you try to leave pope, he resets the day. you’re trapped in a time loop, forced to relive your relationship over and over until you "get it right" — his version of right.
experimental serum — pope invents a drug that makes the user emotionally dependent on the first person they see. he "accidentally" doses you with it during a party, then carefully makes sure he's the first face you look at.
siren cult leader — fantasy au where pope is a siren who uses his voice to lure humans to worship him. he chooses you as his personal devotee... and punishes you harshly when you try to fight it.
black market bride — in a near-future setting where human trafficking is high-tech, pope “buys” you off the black market. you were meant to be sold off to someone else — but pope decides you’re his now.
behavioral engineering — pope secretly studies you like an experiment, manipulating your environment, your food, your sleep, everything... until you break down exactly the way he planned. and then he “comforts” you like the hero he always pretended to be.
mind maze — pope creates a labyrinthine digital world inside your mind. you think you're living your normal life, but really, he’s testing how far he can push you before you beg him to be your "guide" out.
consciousness transfer — after an accident, pope saves your life... by uploading your consciousness into a machine he designed. now you’re trapped in a body he can program, update, punish.
dream hacking — pope invents a way to hack dreams. he invades your sleep every night, inserting himself into your dreams, making you crave him without even realizing why you wake up needing him.
chemical conditioning — pope develops a pheromone or chemical only he can trigger in you — making you addicted to his presence, his voice, his touch, until withdrawal feels like you're dying.
ethics experiment — under the guise of a psychology study, pope tricks you into participating in experiments that slowly dismantle your sense of right and wrong, turning you into exactly what he wants.
parasite control — super dark fantasy/sci-fi: pope engineers a microscopic parasite that bonds with your brainstem. you feel everything — the fear, the shame, the pleasure — but can’t fight it when he gives a command.
rewriting reality — after studying forbidden science, pope learns how to bend small aspects of reality. he tweaks tiny things about you — your memory, your body, your emotions — until you’re the dream girl he always thought he deserved.
invisible god complex — pope becomes so good at predicting human behavior (like a scary-level psychologist) that he basically plays god without anyone knowing — especially you. every choice you think you make? he planned it months ago.

### 8. **Local Meetups & Online Conferences**
- **Free Virtual Conferences**: Many cybersecurity conferences are virtual and some offer free access. DEF CON has a lot of free content, and you can find tons of talks on YouTube.
- **Hackathons**: Look for free entry hackathons—often universities or tech companies sponsor them. Compete, learn, and maybe even win some gear.
### 9. **DIY Challenges**
- **Create Your Own Scenarios**: Get a friend to simulate a hack or data breach. You try to solve it using whatever tools and resources you have. It's like escape rooms, but digital.
- **Pen & Paper Simulation**: Before diving into digital, try solving forensic puzzles on paper. Map out scenarios and solutions to get your brain wired like a detective.
### 10. **Stay Updated**
- **Podcasts & Blogs**: Tune into cybersecurity podcasts like *Darknet Diaries* or follow blogs like *Krebs on Security*. It’s like getting the tea on what’s happening in the cyber world.
### 11. **Free Software & Tools**
- **Autopsy**: Free digital forensics software that helps you analyze hard drives and mobile devices. Think of it as your magnifying glass for digital clues.
- **Wireshark**: A free tool to see what's happening on your network. Catch all the data packets like you're a digital fisherman.
### 12. **Online Forensics Communities**
- **Free Webinars & Workshops**: Join communities like the *SANS Institute* for free webinars. It's like attending a masterclass but from the comfort of your gaming chair.
- **LinkedIn Groups**: Join groups like *Digital Forensics & Incident Response (DFIR)*. Network with pros, get job tips, and stay in the loop with the latest trends.
### 13. **Practice Cases & Mock Trials**
- **Set Up Mock Trials**: Role-play with friends where one is the hacker, another the victim, and you’re the investigator. Recreate cases from famous cybercrimes to see how you'd solve them.
- **Case Studies**: Research and recreate famous digital forensic cases. What steps did the investigators take? How would you handle it differently?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There you have it—your roadmap to becoming a cyber sleuth without dropping a dime. You don't have time find your interest after paying pennies to different ppl and colleges. You can explore multiple things from comfort of your home only if you want to.

Really disappointed about F-Zero GP Legend on GBA NSO
Today, as of the writing of this post, saw the addition of F-Zero GP Legend & F-Zero Climax on GBA NSO, two great games, and one of them finally officially available worldwide, even if untranslated.
Putting aside the annoyance that F-Zero Climax is untranslated, on which I still think Nintendo should seriously consider translating some of their retro titles, I want to talk about a real disappointment surrounding F-Zero GP Legend.
The hype before release
Before the release of the GBA NSO update, Nintendo's japanese blog showed that F-Zero GP Legend would actually have for the first time the inclusion of the 20 e-Reader courses, expert ghost data and machines. The Wii U Virtual Console release did not have those, and that's genuinely cool of them!
The original American and European releases of GP Legend actually included the e-Reader machines as unlockables, after they probably knew that e-Reader was just out of the question, however, they never included any of the Ghost Data, or the 20 extra courses (the equivalent of 4 cups in this game).
But for some reason, the American and European NSO releases of the game does not include the e-Reader content. You can probably excuse this as like, the game simply didn't have any support for them and therefore they couldn't hack them for it, but... that's just kind of bullshit actually.
How much effort did they make?
Guy Perfect, who you might be familiar with their recent work of BS F-Zero Deluxe, which is a hack of F-Zero that includes all courses and machines from the original game and the Satellaview BS F-Zero Grand Prix 1 & 2.
He made a few years before the e+ Complete patch for all versions of F-Zero GP Legend:
This patch includes all e-Reader content, all 20 courses and all ghost data for all versions of the game, and unlocked machines for the japanese version.
Why do I mention this? Because this patch was possible because all versions of the game, including the American and European versions still had functional e-Reader support, it's just inaccessible.
Now, I want to say this, Nintendo's modification of the japanese version of the game is still pretty well done, just like the patch I've linked, Nintendo did a similar thing in a different way, where they actually managed to include all 20 e-Reader courses in the same menu, bypassing the limitation of 5 courses, a limitation caused by the limited save space as, yes, the cards actually included the custom course data in them, no unlocks.
This might have required as much effort as Super Mario Advance 4's e-Reader levels which also bypassed similar limitations.
After asking Guy Perfect about the work that was done towards the American and European versions of his patch, it turns out Nintendo didn't need to do that much more to do it on them, porting the modifications from the japanese version would actually not require that much effort, because the e-Reader code is still just there, fully functional, and could just be enabled relatively simply.
To say it simply: Nintendo already did the work for the modifications to add e-Reader content to the game and it would have needed basically almost nothing else on top to make it work on the American and European versions.
The fan patch is not actually doing a lot of code changes to all the versions, proof that it is really not doing that much to add these courses, and that's just sad.
The European could need maybe some translations, but as it is, it doesn't even need any significant work, like, just translating "Card e-Reader+ Cup" is all that's essentially needed, and even then, they could have left it as is and you would just see it in English regardless of the language, it would have still worked and no one would probably bat an eye...
It's just disappointing, you know, this was so close, not much work was needed, it's not like I'm asking the impossible here, the work is already there and could be ported very very easily to the other versions.
This is not an outcome I can easily accept, I can accept a lot of technical reasons for not doing things at times, but not this one.
In the meantime, I guess either use the e+ Complete patch, or just use the japanese GBA NSO app if you really want to play those legally.

Name’s Asha, Asha Barnes. Not really, Barnes is my adopted name. James “Bucky” Buchanan Barnes is my adoptive father and has been for the past.. what four years now? God he even passed him bad memory onto me— old man. He’s a super big idiot with a metal arm, can’t miss ‘em. I’m seventeen years old, the big one eight is coming up soon, I think Bucky might get me a car (no he won’t). I have an unimaginable IQ and an eidetic memory which makes me the smartest and most annoying fucker in the room.
Sarcasm is my way of life, if you can’t appreciate my art then you can’t understand me. Bucky took me in as apart of his self help journey, some stupid guilt or pity convinced him that adopting the child of the man he killed was gonna make him feel better. Ultimately it did because obviously I’m amazing but at first it was really weird and rocky— a story for another time because after that we were on the run and.. just so much stuff. Nowadays though we often crash with Sam or Steve or Tony or Yelena, we are at our own house, other people are just more comforting sometimes.
I have S.H.I.E.L.D clearance, only enough to like open the entrance door and buy snacks from the vending machine because I hacked them once and they’re still kinda mad at that but it’s whatever. We all make friends in different ways right? Yeah uh.. Barnes made me make this because apparently my only friends can’t be in a virtual game and I have to like actually talk to people that aren’t his friends. I need “some of my own” or whatever he said— he doesn’t even really have friends! Steve doesn’t count, Sam also doesn’t count, Sam adopted Bucky like he was homeless (he was) so like that shouldn’t count, right?
My form of love is acts of service, however my illness keeps me from being able to do it as much as I’d like. My body aches, it hurts and pains me, it keeps me from livin’. I hate it. It hates me, we hate each other, it’s a continuous struggle and cycle but I don’t want to admit it. I can’t.

So, I played the Riffins for the first time since I dunno. The first serious time on the new computer, definitely.
I have a bunch posts worth of screenshot backlog for all of my saves, I think, so in theory I could start posting again now. It's really just a matter of doing it.
What follows is some geeking that may interest nobody, but this is just how I roll.
The first silly thing is that I now have screenshots in 16:10 aspect ratio. On my old computer, I ran Windows at a low resolution partly for performance and partly because I could keep the 4:3 aspect ratio, i.e. a much narrower display for the same height. My reasoning is that when you post pics, either on Wordpress or here, the width of the image determines the size you see. A wider aspect ratio gets sized down to the width of the dashboard you're looking at, and everything is smaller. In my current setup. I pretty much have to run at a higher screen resolution, and it looks awfully nice honestly. Sims 3 doesn't have any 4:3 aspect ratio options for modern computer resolutions. I may see if I can hack it in the options file. If I can't, it'll be reeeealy obvious when I move on to the new gameplay 🤷‍♀️.
For technical nerds, if in fact there are any reading this, I'm experimenting with playing the game on Codeweavers Crossover, a distribution of wine, which in turn is an implementation of Windows API for Mac users. I have traditionally played the game on a Windows virtual machine in Parallels. Running an entire second operating system in order to play one game is a bit much, but you do what you can do. I have messed around in Mac 64-bit, and it does really super smoothly for a new game, but it doesn't support core mods (no ErrorTrap or UntranslatedKey), and existing saves (at least modded ones) have not for me without crashing.
I tried Sims with Crossover on my old Intel Mac (man that thing was so top-of-the-line six years ago), and it ran delightfully fast and crashed within 10 minutes. Crossover has done a lot of updates to its 32-bit support since then, but only for the newer Mac architecture. Now that I have one of these fancy Apple Silicon doohickies, I tried again. The play was not as dizzyingly fast as it was on Intel, with the advantage that it played smoothly with all mods for an entire session of about 1.5 hours. Sooooo.... maybe this will work? I don't want to jinx it. I do have Parallels+Windows to run some other stuff if this doesn't cut it.
I'm not even going to try Reshade. It's too exciting that this no-Windows approach might actually work at all. Plus with the higher resolution and the lack of Windows, the game just looks better to me anyway.
I haven't tried to play the Samples yet with all their weird skintones and custom everything. The decades history challenge might even be worse in that regard. The Riffins at least run in an EA world. We. Shall. See.

Just hear me out...
So, Edge, CoPilot, and worst of all, Recall are just terrible for a large number of reasons - namely privacy and security. We're in a time period where this is just going to get worse and worse that any number of precautions just aren't going to cut it because the people who are doing this to you aren't some random bad actor trying to hack your system. It's a specific bad actor that made the system FOR YOU. And that just about sucks any way you try to cut it.
There are some things you can do - but you might not like it:
Believe it or not, the absolute easiest solution is switching to Linux.
BUT WAIT! DON'T STOP READING JUST YET!
Hear me out. I get it, we grew up on MS Windows and a lot of us are on Apple systems too (which are also riddled with AI garbage), but Linux isn't what it used to be, even a decade ago. And yes, there's like a billion different distributions out there, how do you even choose, right? Let me tell you, even linux users are annoyed by it too. But, linux CAN give you a lot of the same things windows and mac can without the AI and spyware bullshit and the different distributions aren't really that different - it's really just a lot of engineers going, "well this is good, but this is how I WOULD DO IT," and still be able to use the same packages.
Here's how I'd recommend approaching linux without having to throw your os in a garbage fire:
grab a popular distribution of Linux - I recommend Linux Mint (it's pretty user friendly) - read through this: https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/choose.html#
get an empty USB stick (preferably around 64 gigs just to have the space, but you can get away with something much smaller) and create a bootable image with it
Restart your pc with the usb stick in - You can now run linux - for free (always free) - off the usb stick without affecting anything else. You can install stuff, mess around, play with it, yadda yadda.
So yes, there will also be a learning curve with it too. It's linux, it's new, it's different. But once you get your feet wet, you'll start seeing windows as super clunky and bloated.
If you don't want to do THAT, you can also try linux through your browser: Read through this article:
Basically it's a virtual machine that you can play with, but it's a little restricted sooo probably not the most accurate experience, but something to still play with. You can also learn a lot from this site as well:
BUT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DO ANY OF THAT AND RATHER STAY ON WINDOWS (sorry not a mac user so I can't really think of solutions for mac users)
The alternative is really messing with registry keys and blocking ports that Copilot and Recall use through the firewall which can greatly mess up your PC if you don't know what you're doing.
Did i mention linux is free and it has a MASSIVE community for support?
Anyway - EITHER WAY YOU CHOOSE - we ALL need to start being a little more tech savvy. Things are going to get worse and if we're blind to it, we're walking to our doom willingly.
Just a side note: This doesn't mean linux is like the most secure thing in the world - you still need an antivirus and set up firewalls and be diligent about malware and privacy and such. Like, that's still a 'you' responsibility no matter what operating system you use. So keep that in mind

what genre are you thinking for your mechs robin hood? a big part of how the mechs write stories is that they're all set in classic movie genres (war, noir, western, mystery) different from the original story.
Okayyy (thanks for asking!!) so my general thought is keeping quite a few elements of the original story, but it's a dystopia/utopia-gone-wrong.
The main thing is that the world in which the people live is polluted and broken, so they created an escape for themselves in the form of a virtual reality game called Nottingham where people could plug themselves in and be in a 13th-14th century universe, where they still have castles and villages and forests that are still green (hence the name of the game's largest forest, the Greenwood). I think the trope of a virtual reality game to escape the no-longer-ideal world is pretty common (think Ready Player One or Epic) but I don't know if that counts as a classic genre...? If anyone has anything better I'm open to suggestions, this is just kind of what I've been going with so far.
And it was so popular that soon all the people who could afford it plugged themselves in to live full-time in that virtual world, while those who could not stayed behind in the real world to tend to the machines that support the bodies of those whose mind is immersed in Nottingham. Generations pass with people living in the simulation, and then, the game has a major glitch (though there are some whispers that it's been hacked) and the game's benevolent NPC ruler, King Richard, disappears without a trace and in the mad scramble to seize his power over the game and its players, those still inside realize that they can die/be killed in the game, and since no one knows how to unplug anymore they assume they've died in real life too. There are rebels trying to fight the corrupt players who've taken power, like Robin Hood and his (or her, perhaps??) band of merry men.
That's a lot of information (sorry if I ranted a little), but that's what I'd try to squish into the intro narration. Is this similar enough to the other mechs albums' themes? I'd love to hear thoughts or suggestions :)
