Broadbent categorized design phases into pragmatic, iconic, analogic, and canonic, illustrating how buildings communicate different levels of meaning. In a world increasingly shaped by virtuality and data-driven environments, these categories serve as a vital framework for integrating digital semiotics into architectural discourse. This philosophical investigation posits that, in the digital age, architecture will not only respond to human behaviour but will shape it through real-time interaction, dynamic symbolism, and mutable structures. The interplay of semiotics with AI and parametric design can craft spaces that evolve based on user input, continuously communicating layers of meaning. Broadbent's methodologies must adapt to this fluid, interconnected realm, where iconic structures merge with digital counterparts and pragmatic functionality becomes intertwined with personalized, adaptive environments. Through this digital lens, Broadbent’s architectural semiotics becomes a tool for constructing spaces that are not only functional but narratively rich, responding and evolving in concert with human presence, behaviour, and interaction. This proposition extends the boundaries of traditional architecture into a speculative, intelligent future where meaning is both encoded and dynamic, evolving within an architecture that learns, communicates, and adapts. Broadbent passed away in 2020, leaving behind a legacy as an influential figure in architectural education and theory. His tenure as head of the School of Architecture at Portsmouth, where he led from 1967 until 1994, was instrumental in shaping generations of architects, myself included, when I studied under him in the mid-1980s. His close collaborator, Richard Bunt, who was recruited by Broadbent in the early 1980s, further advanced the teaching of architectural semiotics at Portsmouth. Broadbent’s impact on both academia and architecture remains profound, and his legacy continues through his many publications and the annual memorial lecture held in his honour.

when i asked my best friend which danganronpa duo i should write spilled thoughts for...

they said cyberspace, aka kiibo and kaito ! so i wracked my brain a little and here's what came to mind ~

if you've done the free time events with kiibo then you'd know that at some point, he expresses that he feels rather ordinary compared to the other ultimates.. which leads to him saying that he wants to launch a robot business ! in specific, being a pop star robot, since robots have yet to advance in pop music.. during the next free time event, he asks shuichi what he thinks kiibo should be...

NOW what if instead of asking shuichi, he asked kaito instead ?

kaito, taking into consideration that kiibo is a robot, would most definitely bring up how he'd be perfect as an astronaut ! i mean.. being a robot is already in the field of science so why not try going to space ? kiibo may call him robophobic at first for this thought process but when kaito expresses that he has no ill intent behind his words, kiibo becomes more understanding and decides to hear him out !

it would be interesting to hear what an astronaut has to say about this !

i imagine kaito would bring up kiibo's different abilities and how they'd be suited for going to space ! with the information we have (and lack) from v3, kiibo doesn't seem to need what humans do to survive.. he doesn't need food or water and it's never brought up whether he needs oxygen or not so i'm gonna go ahead and assume that he doesn't... all he needs is his charging station once a week !

great ! kiibo doesn't need the normal necessities ! he can also probably take pretty good photos of what's out there using his camera function ! as far as kaito is concerned, he'd be a pretty damn good astronaut !

after listening to kaito geek out about being an astronaut and space, kiibo feels pretty confident in his abilities !

i can imagine the two of them talking more and more about space, kiibo asking questions about it all and also about kaito and his own interests in space and being an astronaut. kaito would find more curiosity in kiibo and let the robot boast about his own technology and his functions.. kaito would find it all pretty cool !!

i think that in a way, they'd both give each other motivation and hope !!

Also, just Amino? I mean there's like hundreds of communities for role-playing on there? I was introduced to Amino's VirtualSpace as a kid and so many role-played on that then actual role-playing spaces kept getting created to keep certain things under their own category and easier to find. Cause you used to be able to head to am amino dedicated to one thing and find other things but the Moderators have been trying to keep that in check. So just go find amino communities you like.

i dont like the idea that kids these days are doing their fandom rps with ai chatbots. that's how you're supposed to make lifelong friends as a weird really online teen.
