Ok, here's an idea I've been bouncing around for some time. Considering VH and Vlad both seem to have the "You gotta not spoil/coddle your kids to toughen them up" I figure this would happen. Especially with Simon, being the boy and being shy and quiet like his father is.
I thought it'd be fun to show the contrast with Mavis and Mike + Linda or Drac falling into old patterns for Ericka basically to tell them off. I was gonna do both of them cowed but it seemed OOC for Vlad and I kinda liked the possible "Jeb and Lucky Jack" or "Statler and Waldorf" dynamic of two similar grumpy old guys who have something of a friendly rivalry going on. Since they used to hate eachother. It's sort of inspired by @hotelt-resurrection 's work. They're a couple of Poopdeck Pappys, basically.

I was looking for an old timey emoji that used a character I couldn't remember for the love of me, and this gem was in one of the sites I searched:
\( •_•)_† (•ᵥᵥ•)
Whoever created it, I love you.

Reading Dracula fanfiction from the 2000s is a wild ride sometimes. Vlad III hangs out with Tod from Elisabeth. Seward cucks Henry Wotton and Arthur marries Marian Halcombe. Dracula and Lucy split the Crew between their respective harems. There is a retelling from Dracula POV written by a fourteen year old that is miles better than The Dracula Tape by Fred Saberhagen, the published book with a similar premise. Erik and Christine are also here somehow (and both are vampires, of course).

My favorite thing to explore with vampires is having been present during different time-periods and historical events, it opens up the possibility for interesting backstories and backgrounds: vampires who were medieval knights, plague-doctors, pirates in the Caribbean, cowboys during the wild west etc. It would also be interesting to explore how they view the societal changes that have occured since they were alive and how they feel about the society they were born in compared to modern society.
However, vampires in Hotel Transylvania seem to mostly keep to themselves and dont involve themselves in human affairs at all, which is kind of a bummer.
Do you have any HCs for your older vamps like Martha, Drac and Vlad being present or even involved in any historical events,
Hi!
I think the same, of course they were present during important times and events (causants and warriors) of these
Let's start from one of my favorite eras: The Black death years/ Black plague
Tumblr media
In my headcanon (with a bit of the Dracula book and series) the Dracula/(Tepes for humans) family are descendants of the bloodiest lines of assassins and conquerors like Gengis Kan, Atila To mention a few from the book
This is a fundamental part of fashion, justice and fun with a little bit of magic.

Personally I like war themes, and especially the Second World War:

Someone called back to the old challenge of drawing or posting pictures of various characters eyes, so I decided to do a little experiment with the Drac Fam drawing just their eyes and noses.

Brief Semi-Spoiler Review of Bram Stoker's Dracula (4/100 Books in 2024)
RATING: 4/5; RECOMMENDS: ⅘
Despite how important this title is to literature, I only recently got around to enjoying it. Not only is it vital to the history of horror fiction, but it is almost a precursor to the found footage genre. I found the structure to be riveting, as it feels like I am along for the ride that these characters go on. It's quite riveting.
I found all the characters and their relationships so endearing and warm that they really give life to the story. Everyone is just so likable! Lucy's suitors are polite, well-mannered, and respectful to her and each other. Honestly, I'd want to marry all three of them too! Mina and Jonathan's relationship is so sweet, you can tell how much they both love and want to support each other. That's relationship goals right there. Dracula is delightfully creepy! There's definitely something magnetic about him, though, even if he's far from the sexy vampire of modern-day media.
I highly recommend this story for Spooky Season, even if the pacing is until it's the best and certain elements of it haven't aged well.
There's something genuinely sad about how much of the original fantastic story has been lost as it's been diluted into modern media. I feel like a lot of the tragedy of Lucy's death is lost in the modern perception of her becoming sexually liberated as a vampire. Similarly, poor Jonathan Harker is often disregarded as boring or stupid. I find him to be a delightful young man, if one clearly struggling with PTSD after his experience with Dracula.
I happened to read this novel congruently with Stephen King's Salem's Lot, and the two novels really complement each other. I recommend that others do this experiment as well.

Can't wait until Dracula Daily finishes this year so I can dump a lot of old "Victorian Bram & Vlad" art without context (and without spoiling people's fun).
(Bram & Vlad was my old Dracula fan-comic-strip that started just as a means for me to mock vampire fiction and tropes and spiralled out of control. You can read it all + much much more in my old DA account, or, for a better experience in going through the comic archives, there is The Duck and Tapas.
The premise is: about a 100 years after the events in the books, Dracula's grandson meets Van Helsing's great-great-great-grandson - despite how very much childless they seemed to be in the original - and this happens:
Tumblr media
Things go downhill from here in silliness:

The girls are Lucy Harker and Bessie Báthory - the adults in the last drawing are the Exeter Hunters, the present day vampire-hunting team descending from the originals - plus Bram's mom, who is a novice in the field, but adapted scarily fast.)
While it IS correct to say that "Bram and Vlad are friends while their families hate each other", it doesn't play out like you would expect. Bram's parents are incredibly accepting and protective of Vlad too, to the point that you have to wonder... But I won't say anything else until the end of DD. ;)

Asking different questions to people because I'm bored. Day 7.
Yay, our seven-day marathon of questions has come to an end. Thank you for taking the time! I still have some questions left that weren’t sent, so if you don’t mind answering more, let me know!
How do your vampires prefer to spend their money? (Especially from "Hotel Transylvania")
Oh wow seven-day I liked this question dynamic☺️
Most vampire nobility are spenders, as they have resources to spare.
Nobility: They spend it on properties in different states of their country or in other countries for when they travel or are on vacation, jewelry, luxury clothing, new technology, the luxury of having their auction collections, ,Among other things💎🏦🎰
Commoner vampires prefer not to spend so much, and save enough for their children's inheritance or for their own support.🪙👍
The goal is to leave a decent legacy
Fun headcanon fact:
Dracula has an estate in England that he has never visited. And some dungeons scattered between Romania and Türkiye.
Ericka has a mansion she doesn't know she has in Holland, an apartment in the Netherlands and Amsterdam, along with cellars full of books and artifacts from her ancestors.
Marta has two mansions in Hungary and Russia (on her father's side) and an inheritance in a dungeon in the catacombs of France
And Vlad, well... He has many years and many souls at his disposal, as well as contracts with monsters: anything he likes is his.
