HIHI!! not Much but um. i'd like to think he imagines himself as some tiny yappy thing- volpino in my mind. tbh all my autozoo frank thoughts are prettyyyy much the same as just. general puppyplay stuff but with like added,,,, i dunno. dogfucking. he's there naked on the floor lapping water out of the same bowl as lois so they can kiss <3 he lets them overpower him super easily play fighting on the floor. humps against them. etc etc. i'd like to think being in a dog headspace lessens his guilt of actually,, doing stuff with his dogs too, when otherwise he'd feel way too bad for anything to actually happen. he still feels better if he doesn't initiate it but he doesn't feel nearly as awful about it (in the moment anyway)

I've been thinking about this as I was reviewing the published chapters in N2CatS, especially the one with Volpino, but Chat Noir being kept in the loop wouldn't just benefit him and Ladybug but also Alya as well. She could perform as mission control better if she could coordinate with teammates besides Ladybug. All those secrets are restricting Rena Furtive's already restrictive role.

The Volpino floor boss took out Ladybug's comms, for instance. Had Calico not had her comms on, there would be nothing Rena Furtive could do without blowing her cover. Even if there wasn't much she could do for the Volpino boss battle, a proactive person like Alya must've felt frustrated. It's a small relief to know Calico was running towards Ladybug in that case. If Chat Noir were the one in danger, it would be faster if Rena Furtive could tell him herself than having to relay it through Ladybug who may have to jump through hoops to get to him. Calico demonstrated how difficult that could be in her charge towards Ladybug.

There's also the trust angle. SentiBubbler demonstrated it well when Chat Noir wasn't cooperating with Rena Rouge's plan and almost ruined it had Marinette not run interferrance. While I've seen a lot of people salt on Adrien for it (aside from the chimney incident), he wasn't doing it purely out of spite or obsession with Ladybug. He and Ladybug were always a two person operation and other members who join in run through her first. So it was kinda sus Rena Rouge had her Miraculous when Ladybug hasn't arrived yet. He wasn't just saying it out of jealousy or whatever the salters say.

And there's also the emotional angle. Alya cracked from the secrets pretty quickly as shown in Rocketeer. That was the Nino angle... But what about the superhero side? Much like Chat Noir feeling left out of the team for being kept in the dark, I think Alya might've also felt separated from the rest of the team before telling Nino alleviated some of that.

Getting to work with Calico changed the status quo for the heroes. Having someone else on the scene in case something happened to Ladybug, being more involved... it opens up a case of "what if Chat Noir was in on the loop the way Calico is"? What if they were actually allowed to be teammates to each other, and not just by proxy through Ladybug?

Man, the current arc for N2CatS will probably get extended with an Alya interlude at this rate. The chapter was juggling more than enough and I think Alya should just get a separate chapter. The future side will have to wait. Aaand Blair needs focus first. Aaaaaand team Maribug vs floor boss Shizubug is hard to coordinate since it's a proper fight but I am too committed to let it go. I'm getting writing ideas indigestion from this, which is why I had to put it on hiatus.

I'm still brainstorming on other issues on Alya's side that could be helped if only she could directly work with Chat Noir. Sorting it out is taking me a while. Do you have any extra ideas or fic recs that tackle this? Or maybe just something about how Alya feels about her new role as mission control?

As for issues... I think Alya wouldn't like feeling like she's lying to Chat Noir. While she isn't as close to him as she is to say, Nino or Marinette, she still doesn't seem like she likes that sort of deception. Especially with her and Chat actually having a pretty good rapport on the occasions they've worked together. She's okay with being mission control (she'd prefer to be on the field, but it's obvious why that isn't safe right now) but I can see her not liking being treated as essentially Ladybug's dirty little secret, kept hidden even from Ladybug's closest partner, without being given a good reason for it.
