Had a conversation with some people on Discord regarding Vampire Princess Miyu and we all agreed that, for a show that veers into supernatural horror, it does a good job of being subdued and moody without feeling too oppressive/edgy.

It would have been very easy to make Miyu a generally edgy, loner-type magical girl, but there are character moments like this scene that round her out a bit more. For someone who prefers to keep to herself when around humans because of her immortality, she sure does have some genuine emotional reactions that are typical of an average teenager.
