𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: An opportunity comes to you when they offered to be part of a project that will give you recognition and put you in the map as a rising star even before graduation, but you didn't coun it was a pair project, and that you partner was Park Jongseong, sadly.
Tumblr media
Park Jonseong, mostly known as Jay, and you had been at odds since you met him in school; even after all those school years, the two of you matched at the same university and had the same career. Even at university, you were both top of their class, fiercely competitive, and always striving to outdo each other. Jay was known for his analytical mind and exceptional problem-solving skills, while you excelled in creativity and innovation.
Despite your differences, you and Jay were assigned as project partners for the really big projects every single time, which always led to fights and the two of you working on their own. Both of you were in class, solving each question of a test as fast as you could. You stood up as fast as you could to give the paper, but Jay was faster, and he did it first, making you roll your eyes while the teacher watched both of you playfully and slightly annoyed.
"You know the rules; stay in your seats and wait until the end of the class, but the principal needs to talk to both of you in his office; please go and take your backpacks with you."
You scrunched your face, intrigued. "Sorry about the question, but why is he calling us?"
"It's not in my hands to say, but you better get going."
"Thank you, professor. We will take it from here." You hear Jay's voice, and you see him holding your backpack in his hand. You both bowed and left the classroom. Once the door was closed, you saw your backpack being dropped to the ground. You saw the person who did it. Jay had a small smirk on his face and started walking out. You reached him and slapped the back of his head after picking up your stuff.
There was silence, a sufficient one for you; you didn't do anything wrong, and as far as you know, neither did Jay.
"Come on, loser. This is not a runway."
"Can you shut up? I'm a little bit nervous."
Jay snorted and glanced at you with an amused expression. "Nervous? Since when do you get nervous?"
You shot him a glare. "Maybe because we're being called to the principal's office for something we don't even know about."
"Relax," Jay said, his tone surprisingly gentle. "We've faced worse."
You sighed, trying to steady your breathing. "I know, but this feels different. What if it's something serious?"
Jay shrugged. "Then we'll deal with it, like we always do."
The two of you continued walking in silence until you reached the principal's office. Jay knocked on the door, and a voice called from inside, "Come in."
You exchanged a quick glance with Jay before pushing the door open. Principal Kim was seated behind his desk, his expression unreadable. He gestured for you both to sit down.
"Thank you for coming," Principal Kim began, folding his hands on the desk. "I'm sure you're wondering why I've called you here."
Jay nodded. "Yes, sir. We are."
Principal Kim leaned back in his chair. "It's come to my attention that your constant rivalry, while academically beneficial, has created a somewhat hostile environment."
You shifted uncomfortably in your seat. "We didn't mean for it to get out of hand, sir."
Principal Kim raised a hand to stop you. "I understand that competition can drive excellence, but it can also lead to unnecessary conflict. That's why I've decided to assign you both a special project."
Jay's eyes narrowed. "A special project?"
"Yes," Principal Kim confirmed. "One that will require both of your skills to complete successfully. You'll need to work together and truly collaborate if you want to succeed and carry the name of our university."
You exchanged another glance with Jay, this time with a mixture of surprise and skepticism. "What kind of project?" you asked.
Principal Kim smiled. "The contest is about the topic of your choice, but it needs to be a solution to one of these three options: better education, a sustainable environment, or better health. If you guys win, you will have two weeks off to the Maldives to present this project and gain recognition."
Jay leaned forward, his curiosity piqued. "Recognition"
Principal Kim handed each of you a folder. "All the details are in there. You have the rest of the semester to complete it. I expect nothing but your best work. But there's a catch."
You and Jay exchanged wary looks before turning your attention back to Principal Kim.
"A catch?" you echoed.
Principal Kim nodded, his expression serious. "Yes, a catch. You must work together on every aspect of this project. No dividing tasks and working separately. And since we know how both of you work individually, we will certainly know if you work separately."
As you both opened the folders, you couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and dread. This project was unlike anything you had ever tackled before, and it was clear that it would require both of your strengths to succeed.
"Good luck," Principal Kim said as you stood to leave. "And remember, this is an opportunity to learn from each other, not just compete."
Once outside the office, you turned to Jay. "So, what do you think?"
Jay smirked. "I think this is going to be interesting; just try to keep up with me; I'm tired of beating you."
"Yeah, right. Says the sore loser that it's still mad for a junior science fair."
Jay raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. "You're still bringing that up? Face it, I had the better project."
You rolled your eyes. "Better project, my foot. You won because the judges didn't understand my advanced methodology."
"Sure, keep telling yourself that," Jay retorted, but there was no malice in his tone, just the familiar banter that had defined your relationship for years.
As you both walked out of the principal's office and down the hallway, the tension began to dissipate. You flipped open the folder to check the rules and all the information in it. "So, what's it going to be? Better education, a sustainable environment, or better health?"
Jay went near you and glanced at the topics, considering the possibilities and not stopping the walk. "Each of these has its own challenges. What do you think?"
Jay tapped his fingers on the paper thoughtfully. "Well, a sustainable environment is broad. We could focus on renewable energy or waste management."
You nodded, appreciating his analytical approach. "True, but better education could be interesting too. There's a lot we could innovate there, especially with technology."
Both of you felt the weight of the project settle on your shoulders. "So, where do we start?" Jay asked.
You bit your lip, thinking. "How about we grab a coffee and brainstorm? We need to find common ground."
Jay smirked. "Coffee? Since when do you invite me for coffee?"
You rolled your eyes, regretting it at the same time. "Since we became project partners who needed to collaborate,"
Jay chuckled, a genuine sound that surprised you. "If you love me, say it already."
"There's a café nearby that's quiet enough for us to think." You ignored him as you walked faster to stop listening to his bullshit.
The walk to the café was filled with tense silence. Once inside, you both ordered your drinks and found a corner table.
"So," Jay began, opening the folder again. "Let's list the pros and cons of each topic."
You nodded, pulling out a notebook. "Okay, for better education, we could focus on integrating technology in classrooms, personalized learning plans, or improving teacher training."
Jay leaned forward, jotting down notes. "For a sustainable environment, we could look at renewable energy solutions, waste reduction strategies, or even urban farming."
"And for better health," you added, "we could explore mental health awareness, access to healthcare, or innovative medical technologies."
Jay looked up, meeting your eyes. "I think a sustainable environment could be our strongest angle. It's something that impacts everyone, and there's a lot of potential for innovative solutions, plus, you're very creative when it comes to ideas despite your stupidity."
You looked away for a moment, sipping your latte. It was actually the very first time that Jay had ever said something nice to you (ignoring the fact that he almost called you stupid). Jay also looked at the folder in his hands after what he said.
"I agree. Plus, we can leverage both our strengths. Your analytical skills for the technical aspects, I must say, say you are...good."
Jay smiled—a rare, genuine smile. "That I am what?"
"Nope, not saying it anymore. Don't push me."
Jay's smile never left his face. "It looks like we finally agree on something."
For the next few hours, you and Jay brainstormed ideas, drawing on each other's strengths and perspectives. The initial tension between you began to ease as you realized that working together wasn't as bad as you had imagined.
As the sun set, Jay stretched and yawned. "I think we have a solid plan to start with. Want to meet tomorrow to start diving into the research?"
You nodded, feeling strange to this new picture. "Sounds good. Let's meet at the library after class."
Jay gathered his things and stood up. "Alright, see you tomorrow then, idiot."
"Sadly."
Tumblr media
"So... you and Jay?"
"Cut the crap; it's my last straw." You bite your green apple. You were telling everything to your friend Karina since she was absent yesterday and missed the whole thing.
The whole university knew about you and Jay fighting over the first spot on everything.
Karina, being your closest friend, always had the front-row seat to your battles. She laughed, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "I can't believe you two are actually working together. Wonders never cease."
You sighed, taking another bite of your apple. "Yeah, it's a nightmare. But we have no choice. If we want that trip to the Maldives and the recognition, we have to make this work."
Karina shook her head, still smiling. "Who knows, maybe this will be good for you both. You might actually become friends."
You snorted. "Jay and I? Friends? I don't think so. We can barely stand each other."
"People change," Karina said, leaning back in her chair. "And sometimes, rivalry can turn into respect."
You rolled your eyes but didn't say anything. The idea of respecting Jay was still too far-fetched. Yet, you couldn't deny that the brainstorming session had gone surprisingly well.
"I've got to admit that his way of thinking surprised me, but that's it?"
"Quick question! Did he wear his glasses?" You looked at Karina in confusion.
"He wears glasses?" Karina blinks a few times in disbelief.
"The clear, thin ones, the rectagular ones? You're so blind to even see him because he's your rival."
"He wears glasses. So what."
"He literally became a topic of discussion for like a week for those glasses. He looked handsome as fuck."
You couldn't help but feel a mix of irritation and curiosity at Karina's comment. "Handsome? Jay? Are we talking about the same Jay?"
Karina rolled her eyes dramatically. "Yes, the same Jay. You're just too busy trying to outdo him to notice."
"Please. And for the record, I'm not trying; I just simply outdo him." You muttered, but you couldn't stop yourself from wondering. Had you really missed something so obvious?
Your conversation with Karina drifted to other topics, but the thought of Jay and his glasses lingered in the back of your mind. You saw your watch and cursed under your breath. "I gotta go, meeting Jay at the library."
"Oh! Go to the way back of the library; nobody listens, and the noise is blocked by the pile of books."
"Why would I go?" You stopped yourself to think about it and hit Karina with your hand, the girl laughing so hard that she almost fell. "God, you're nasty sometimes."
You ran to the library as fast as you could, the feeling of your warm cheeks being very present. You arrived at the library a few minutes early, determined to get a head start on the research after resting for a bit. You spread out your notes and started organizing your ideas as soon as you felt your heart calm down.
"Hello, loser."
You looked up to see Jay standing there, and for a moment, you were taken aback. There he was, wearing the thin, rectangular glasses Karina had mentioned; they accentuated his sharp features and gave him a more approachable and mature look. You quickly recovered, rolling your eyes. "Hey, idiot."
Jay smirked and sat down across from you. "Let's get to work."
As you dove into the research, you found yourself stealing glances at Jay, blaming Karina in your mind. Despite that, you also thanked her because you never really looked at Jay as a whole.
He was wearing silver jewelry, a black-fit yet loose plain sweater, fitted black jeans, and shoes of the same color. His hair was a dirty blonde color, which actually suited him. You had to admit, grudgingly, that Karina might have had a point. Jay did look handsome. But there was no way you were going to admit that out loud.
"So, where should we start?" Jay asked, breaking you out of your thoughts.
You cleared your throat, trying to focus. "Let's divide the topics we need to research. I'll take renewable energy, and you can start with waste management strategies."
Jay nodded, adjusting his glasses. "Sounds good. Let's aim to have a preliminary report by next week."
As you both got to work, the competitive edge in your dynamic seemed to fade, replaced by mutual respect. Maybe, just maybe, this collaboration would be more than just a necessary evil.
After a while, you took a break, stretching your arms above your head. Jay looked up from his notes, catching your eye. "Tired already?"
"I'm just taking a break," you said, trying to sound casual. "We've been at this for hours."
Jay nodded, leaning back in his chair. "True. But we're making good progress."
You smiled, feeling a strange sense of accomplishment. "Yeah, we are."
Jay's eyes softened as he looked at you, and for a moment, you saw a side of him you hadn't noticed before. Maybe Karina was right. Maybe there was more to Jay than just the competitive facade.
"Can I ask you something?" you said, surprising yourself with the question.
Jay raised an eyebrow. "Sure."
"Why do you wear glasses sometimes? I've never seen you with them before."
Jay shrugged, a small smile playing on his lips. "I usually wear contacts, but sometimes my eyes get tired. Why do you ask?"
You hesitated, feeling a bit embarrassed. "No reason. Just curious."
Jay chuckled, shaking his head. "You're a terrible liar."
"No, I'm not."
"Yes, you are." You put your pen down and looked at him straight in the eyes.
"Tell me one of those moments. I dare you."
"The moment I told you if you didn't want to be part of the president's council as a vice president after your sad and pathetic loss,"
"We were two votes apart."
"And you said to me, and I quote, "I would rather die than take part in your team," but Mr. Kim told me that you went to him to ask if the vice president position was still open for you."
"How can you remember things from like three years ago?" He went silent, opening up a notebook once again without looking, turning the look away shortly after to his notebook.
"I have a good memory, you idiot." You looked at him for a few more seconds before going back to your business, accidentally cracking a side smile that you hurried to hide from his eyes in case he was looking at you. "Also, I won't be available the next week."
"Why is that?"
"We have a basquetball tournament, and the coach wants to have a whole practice week."
"But we will get behind everything."
"Are you dumb? This project has been around for like 2 months, and it came to us yesterday."
"But we need every single day to be prepared. I don't want to lose just because you have a game," you retorted, trying to keep the frustration out of your voice.
Jay leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. "You think I don't know that? I already have a plan. We'll work extra hours today and tomorrow. I'll do my part in the evenings after practice, and we'll check in every night to make sure we're on track."
You raised an eyebrow. "You made a plan without telling me?"
Jay shrugged. "I figured you'd be too busy panicking to come up with one yourself."
You scowled at him, but deep down, you were relieved. Despite his arrogance, Jay was dependable. "Fine. Let's see your plan."
Jay pulled out his notebook and slid it across the table to you. You scanned the pages, impressed despite yourself. He had outlined a detailed schedule with specific tasks for each of you, along with deadlines and check-in points.
"This is actually good," you admitted reluctantly.
Jay smirked. "I know. Now, let's get back to work."
The rest of the day passed in a blur of research and note-taking. By the time you left the library, the sun had long since set, and the campus was quiet. You walked out together, feeling a strange sense of peace with Jay.
"See you tomorrow, loser." He started to walk to the boys side of the dorms, getting out his headphones from his backbag.
"Hey, Park!" he stopped once you called him, the landscape making him look like he was part of a coming-of-age movie scene. You cleared your throat before speaking. "Good job today."
You saw his surprised face, but you were then surprised to see a soft smile coming from him.
"Thanks; same to you," Jay replied, his tone more sincere than you'd ever heard. He raised a hand in a casual wave before turning and continuing his walk.
The walk back to your dorm was filled with mixed thoughts and feelings. This project in just two days had somehow shifted your relationship with Jay, and you weren't sure how to process it. You couldn't deny that you were starting to see him in a different light, beyond the rivalry that had defined your interactions for so long.
When you got to your room, Karina was waiting, her curiosity evident on her face. "So, how was it?"
You sighed, dropping your bag onto your bed. "Surprisingly productive. We actually managed to get a lot done."
Karina grinned. "See? I told you it wouldn't be that bad."
You rolled your eyes, but you couldn't help but smile. "Yeah, yeah. Don't get too excited. It's just one day."
Karina laughed, walking to you to give you a warm back hug. "One day is all it takes to start something new. It's the start of something new. It feels so right to be here with you."
You changed into more comfortable clothes and sat down at your desk after slightly slapping your best friend for the second time, flipping open your notebook. As you reviewed the notes from today, you couldn't help but think about the moments you had shared with Jay. The way he had smiled, the way he had been genuinely helpful, and the way he had planned everything so meticulously.
Maybe Karina was right. Maybe this project was an opportunity for you and Jay to learn from each other and grow, not just as students but as individuals. You shake your head before your thoughts can go another way, feeling your heart beat faster than usual.
The next day, you arrived at the library to find Jay already there early, surrounded by books and papers. Both of your professors cancelled the class, and you both decided to continue to work after you told him via message.
He looked up and smiled. "Ready to get to work?"
You nodded, taking a seat beside him. "Let's do this."
As you settled into your seat, you felt a renewed sense of purpose. Despite your initial reservations, you were beginning to see the value of working with Jay. He was thorough, dedicated, and—most surprisingly—supportive.
The morning passed quickly because of the productive collaboration. You tackled different aspects of your project, occasionally bouncing ideas off each other. Jay’s analytical mind paired well with your creative approach, and together, you started to shape a solid foundation for your project on sustainable environments.
By lunchtime, you both had made significant progress. Jay leaned back in his chair, stretching his arms above his head. "I think we deserve a break."
You nodded, closing your notebook. "Agreed. Let's grab something to eat."
At the cafeteria, you both grabbed your food and found a quiet corner to sit in, far from everyone. As you ate, you saw a couple in the distance, identifying the girl as Jay's ex-girlfriend, who cheated on him throughout the whole relationship.
The sight of her stirred a mix of emotions in you. Jay can be your enemy for as long as you remember, but you felt a strange sense of protectiveness towards Jay when you heard about their breakup. Aerum dated Jay for a whole year just to make him do all her assingments, everything while cheating him with another guy as dumb as she was.
No one should be cheated on, especially after knowing everything that Jay did for her, and she just embarrassed him to her whole group of friends.
Jay noticed your gaze and followed it. His expression hardened slightly when he saw her, but he quickly composed himself, turning back to his food. "Ignore her," he muttered, but you could tell he was trying to convince himself more than you.
"Does it still bother you?" you asked, genuinely curious.
Jay shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. "Not really. It's just... irritating to see her acting like nothing happened."
You nodded, understanding his frustration. "Well, if it makes you feel any better, you're doing great. She's the one who missed out."
Jay glanced at you, surprised by your words. "Thanks," he said softly. "That means a lot coming from you."
"Shut it," you added, rolling your eyes, trying to hide a small smile.
"No, I won't. I want to sink in that you really care for me."
"Oh God, please stop."
Jay chuckled, shaking his head. "Fine, I'll stop. But seriously, thanks."
You shrugged, feeling a bit awkward at the sudden sincerity. "Don't mention it. Just listen and don't say anything." He looked at you in a friendly manner, his hand placed behind his ear, as you once again rolled your eyes. "I mean it, though. You're talented, driven, and honestly, way too good for her."
The rest of the lunch passed in a comfortable silence, the tension from earlier dissipating as you both focused on your food. As you finished eating, Jay stood up, gathering his tray. "Ready to get back to work?"
You nodded, following suit. "Let's do it."
Back at the library, you both dived back into your project with renewed determination. The afternoon flew by as you continued to brainstorm and refine your ideas. By the time the sun began to set, you had made significant progress.
As you packed up your things to leave, Jay turned to you with a small smile. "I'll see you tomorrow."
You looked at him, confused. "We won't see each other tomorrow; you have practice."
Jay's smile widened. "Actually, practice got cancelled. The coach had some emergency meetings or something. So, we have the whole day to work on the project."
You couldn't hide your surprise. "Oh, that's… unexpected."
"Yeah," Jay said, his tone casual. "But I'm not complaining. We can use the extra time to get ahead."
You nodded, feeling a strange sense of anticipation at the prospect of spending another day working with Jay. "Yeah, let's make the most of it."
The two of you left the library together, falling into step as you walked towards the dorms. The air was warm and filled with the chatter of other students heading home for the evening.
As you reached the entrance of the dorm building, Jay turned to you. "I'll see you tomorrow then, loser."
You couldn't help but smile at the familiar insult. "See you tomorrow, idiot."
With a final wave, Jay disappeared into the building, leaving you standing outside with a strange warmth spreading through your chest.
The walk back to your room was filled with a mix of emotions and thoughts swirling in your mind. Jay's unexpected sincerity and the ease with which you had worked together today left you feeling oddly content.
Upon entering your room, you found it empty; Karina's absence was noticeable. You took a seat at your desk, pulling out your notebook to review the progress you had made today.
As you flipped through the pages, your thoughts kept drifting back to Jay. He wasn't just your competitor anymore; he was a teammate, someone you could rely on.
But even as you acknowledged this shift in your dynamic, you couldn't shake the lingering doubts and insecurities. Could you really trust Jay? Was this newfound camaraderie genuine or just a temporary ceasefire in your ongoing battle for superiority?
Pushing aside these thoughts, you forced yourself to focus on the task at hand. You had a project to complete, and dwelling on hypotheticals wouldn't get you any closer to your goal.
As you immersed yourself in your work, you couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building within you. Despite the challenges ahead, you were determined to make this project a success.
With that resolve in mind, you dove back into your research, ready to tackle whatever obstacles came your way. And as you worked, you couldn't shake the feeling that, perhaps, this collaboration with Jay was the beginning of something truly remarkable.
Tumblr media
You entered your classroom and saw Jay and the teacher discussing a problem with the homework. When the teacher saw you, he called you with a hand gesture.
"Miss, your partner Jay says that a problem that I created in the assignment is wrong."
"The number 6? Yeah, it's wrong. Morning Jay."
"Morning loser." You slapped his arm and extended the paper, leaving marks of all the times the eraser passed it because there was no answer, ignoring the shocking look on your teacher's face at the rare sight of you two even saying "good morning." to each other. Jay took the paper from you, his expression turning thoughtful as he examined it.
"You're right," he said after a moment, looking up at the teacher. "There seems to be a mistake in the problem. It's not solvable as it's currently written."
The teacher frowned, taking the paper from Jay to inspect it himself. "Hmm, you're correct. My apologies for the oversight. I'll make sure to correct it for future assignments."
You exchanged a satisfied glance with Jay, feeling a sense of camaraderie in the small victory. Despite your ongoing rivalry, it was moments like these that reminded you of the mutual respect you had developed for each other.
"Thank you for bringing this to my attention," the teacher said, nodding at both of you. "I appreciate your diligence."
With that, he dismissed you both, allowing you to return to your seats. As you settled in, you couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in the way you and Jay had worked together to solve the problem.
"Nice catch, loser," you murmured to Jay as he passed by your desk.
He flashed you a quick grin. "Teamwork makes the dream work, you idiot."
After class, you both went to the library together, getting surprised looks from a few students at the sight of both of you not fighting. Jay went to the usual spot and slid a chair. You almost sat on it, but Jay was faster as he put his backpack in it. You went to the spot where you usually sit and looked at him setting things down with his mouth closed, as if he were holding a smile or a laugh.
"Let's work; remember, you will not see me due to practice the next few weeks."
"Thank God, you're annoying."
And that was actually what happened. Both of you are working, saying good-bye, and only seeing each other in class, but not after. Jay actually played the role he said he would; he sent his parts after reading your awfully long documents with the information you researched.
Tumblr media
For the next few weeks, you and Jay worked tirelessly on your project. There were moments of frustration and disagreement, but there were also moments of genuine collaboration and respect. You began to see a different side of Jay, one that was passionate, dedicated, and even kind.
In a blink of an eye, you encounter a problem. You tried to do it on your own, but you could swear the library lady was starting to get worried about your leg-shaking movements and how you were constantly massaging your head. You saw the clock. Jay's practice finished in one hour and ten minutes, and you growled low, picking up your stuff and going to the other side of the university to the courts.
As you were walking, you looked at your surroundings, the view making you take a deep breath in order to relax yourself. You have not taken a moment to relax yourself, even with your period. No matter how much it hurts, you keep on pushing yourself.
"Hey!" you heard a female voice, making you stop and roll your eyes at the view of Aerum, the person that called you. She was in front of you a few seconds later, making you impatient.
"What do you want, Kim?" She put a fake pout on her face.
"Oh, come one. I wanted to say hi to my ex-neighbor." You sighed. It was true that both of you were neighbors and childhood friends for a few years, until she started to get mean to you in order to fit into the popular group, a personality that she couldn't escape from.
"Come on, I don't have time." Her face changed, but you remained still, your poker face as still as you were.
"I saw you were doing a project with Jay, and I just wanted you to play cupid for both of us. You know we have history."
"No way, get lost."
"Come one! I miss him."
"You mean you miss having good grades? Why don't you go with that dumb quarterback you were sleeping with when you dated him?"
"Wait a minute, am I seeing you being defensive over Jay?"
"Yeah, because despite my hatred for him, he doesn't deserve to be treated like shit."
"Like you were treated because of your mother?" You stood there, frozen in place, and felt your heart ache at the still-vivid memory.
"Don't go there." You pointed your index finger at her, and Aerum just laughed straight at your attitude.
"Oh please!" Her voice got higher, and some students there were already looking at you two. "You started to be the smarty pants, so your mom gave you some validation or a little respect! That's why you're so pathetic."
"What is pathetic is you trying to fit in with the popular crowd by using people and treating them like garbage," you retorted, your voice low but firm. "You're the one who's pathetic, Aerum. You've always been jealous of anyone who's smarter or more talented than you."
Aerum's expression turned ugly, a mixture of anger and frustration contorting her features. "You think you're better than me, huh?"
"I don't have to think about it, Aerum. It's a fact," you replied coolly, refusing to back down. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have somewhere to be. And forget about Jay, unless you change for good and value what a great heart he has."
With that, you turned and walked away, leaving Aerum seething behind you. Or so you thought. You felt a hand on your shoulder, turning you around, and a strong punch in your mouth. You looked at Aerum, who was massaging her hand in pain. Your fingertips went straight to your lips, blood coming out of them due to her ring cutting you.
"Please, don't continue the fight." Karina's voice came into the picture, and in a few minutes, she was a few meters next to you.
"Just hold this, Rina." You extended your belongings to her as you polished your shirt and low ponytail. You grabbed Aerum by the collar of her blouse and smashed her to a nearby wall, her right side being punched by it.
As you held Aerum against the wall, you could feel the anger boiling inside you. All the pent-up frustration and resentment towards her came rushing to the surface, fueled by her cheap shot and her venomous words. But as you looked into her eyes, filled with fear and desperation, a small voice in the back of your mind urged you to stop.
Taking a deep breath, you loosened your grip on Aerum's collar, stepping back and releasing her. Despite the pain throbbing in your lip, you refused to let her drag you down to her level. "This isn't worth it," you muttered, turning away from her and walking away.
Karina followed closely behind you, concern etched on her face. "Are you okay?"
You nodded, wiping the blood from your lip with the back of your hand. "I'll live."
Karina sighed, glancing back at Aerum, who was still standing there, nursing her hand. "What was that all about?"
"Just Aerum being her usual charming self," you replied bitterly, trying to shake off the anger that still lingered within you. "Let's just go."
"Hey! Both of you!" You heard the principal's shout in the distance. "Office, now"
Tumblr media
When you went outside of the office with only your phone in hand, you sighed. You forced Karina to leave the dorms in order to not get involved in this. Aerum got in there and actually stayed there when several people got brave enough to tell her everything she had done, while you only got a warning, and that was written on your permanent record.
You looked at the time, cursing when you saw that Jay probably left minutes ago. You walked through the hallway with your head low to the bathrooms, looking yourself in and letting that tear escape from your eye.
What Aerum said was the truth: being the only child and having a not-loving mother had their consequences. You took a deep breath, trying to steady yourself. The confrontation with Aerum had left you shaken, and the principal’s office visit had only added to your stress. You splashed some cold water on your face, hoping it would help clear your mind.
As you looked at your reflection, you couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness. The memories of your mother and the constant pressure to excel weighed heavily on you.
You took a small piece of paper to put on your wound and hid your phone in your jacket as you got out of the bathroom, seeing a few guys in front of you. You froze in place when you could recognize that dirty blonde hair turning around at the sound of the door.
He looked at you and then your lips; your only solution was to turn around and run to your place, not wanting to confront him.
"Hey! Please stop!" You heard him scream, and you felt so sensible still that your eyes got watery again, making you slow down as you started to see blurry.
Jay caught you up and placed himself in front of you, holding your head high. The moment you tried to lower it again, he looked at your lip, and his face hardened.
"Jay…"
"Who the fuck did it?" His voice sounded angry, and you just moved your head.
"Jay, don't make a fuss."
"Who should I punch? Tell me." Tears started to wet your cheeks, and your hands were trembling while you hugged yourself.
"Jay, please don't say anything. I… I need you to hug me; please, I'm begging you."
Jay’s expression softened as he saw the tears streaming down your face. Without another word, he pulled you into a tight embrace, holding you close as you sobbed into his chest. His arms wrapped around you protectively, and you could feel the warmth and comfort of his presence.
“It’s okay,” he whispered, gently stroking your hair. “I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”
You clung to him, feeling the weight of the day’s events slowly start to lift. Jay’s steady heartbeat and soothing words helped calm your racing thoughts, and for the first time in what felt like forever, you allowed yourself to let go of the stress and pain.
After a few moments, you pulled back slightly, looking up at him with red-rimmed eyes. “Thank you, Jay."
"I'm taking you to my dorms; I'm cleaning your wound." It was like both of you forgot that you hated each other. The moment he held your hand, it sent you shivers as he walked with you to his dorms, a five-minute walk to his shared room, and a solid three-minute walk without anybody noticing it.
Once he opened the door, you were welcomed by a clean environment and a two-bed room. You raised an eyebrow at the view after Jay placed you on one of the beds.
"My ex-roomate left for his house; it was cheaper."
Jay rummaged through a small first-aid kit, pulling out antiseptic wipes and a bandage. He sat down beside you on the bed, his touch gentle as he cleaned the cut on your lip. You winced slightly at the sting, but his careful attention made it bearable.
“Sorry,” he murmured, his eyes focused on the task at hand. “I just don’t want it to get infected.”
“It’s okay,” you replied softly, watching him work. The closeness between you felt strange yet comforting. It was a stark contrast to the animosity that usually defined your interactions.
Once he finished, he looked up at you, his eyes searching for yours. “Uhm, do you feel ready to tell me what happened?”
A brief silence made its way into the conversation, making you lower your head after you got cured.
"Aerum wanted to get back with you, and I kind of defended you."
Jay’s eyes widened in surprise. “You defended me?”
You nodded, feeling a blush creep up your cheeks. “Yeah, I don't like you that much, but I couldn’t stand the thought of her using you again.”
Jay’s expression softened, and he reached out to gently lift your chin, forcing you to meet his gaze. “Wow, thank you, loser,” he said sincerely. “That means a lot to me.”
You felt a flutter in your chest at his words, and the sincerity in his eyes made your heart race. “Teamwork makes the dream work, right?” You admitted that your voice was barely above a whisper.
Jay’s thumb brushed against your cheek, sending a shiver down your spine. “It does,” he said, his voice soft and contemplative.
You looked into his eyes, feeling a connection that you had never acknowledged before, and it was scary. The tension between you seemed to dissolve, replaced by a warmth that you couldn’t ignore. Without thinking, you both leaned in, your lips meeting his in a gentle, tentative kiss.
The kiss was soft at first, but it quickly deepened as you both gave in to the emotions that had been building between you—emotions both of you didn't know you had. Jay’s hands cupped your face, pulling you closer as your arms wrapped around his neck. The world seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of you in that moment.
When you finally pulled away, you were both breathless, your foreheads resting against each other.
"Look, I-"
"Jay, can I have today's class notes?" A knock on the door made your guys eyes wide open, separating almost immediately.
"I'm sorry."
"No, I'm sorry." Jay said hurriedly as he stood up, and you did the same. "Well, that was interesting."
"Very." You both walked to the door, but before, you two locked eyes for a moment.
"See you tomorrow, idiot."
"Sure thing, loser." You opened the door, not even looking at the person as you practically ran to your dorms at the speed of light. You literally opened the door so fast that Karina got scared.
“Whoa, what happened to you?” She asked, concern lacing her voice.
You shook your head, trying to catch your breath. “Nothing, I... think I just kissed Jay,” you mumbled, watching a dead point in the wall. Karina stopped herself, watching you with her big eyes.
"You what?"
"I. Think. I. Kissed. Jay." Karina literally jumped up from her seat, her eyes wide with excitement.
“You kissed Jay?! Oh my gosh, tell me everything!”
“It just happened. He cleaned my wound, and then we kissed. It was… intense.”
Karina squealed, clapping her hands together. “This is huge! I knew there was something between you two. So, what now?”
“What do you mean by "what know?"”
"You guys didn't even talk about what you were after that?!"
"It should be talked about." Karina held her head in her hands, and she breathed when you said that.
"Yes! I mean, you guys can’t just kiss and then pretend nothing happened, right?” Karina exclaimed, her eyes wide with disbelief.
You sighed, flopping onto your bed. “I don’t know, Karina. Everything is so confusing right now. One moment we hate each other, and the next..."
Karina sat down beside you, her expression softening. “Look, I know it’s complicated. But you need to talk to him. Figure out what this means for both of you.”
You nodded, feeling the weight of her words. “You’re right. I just… I need some time to process everything.”
Karina smiled, giving your hand a reassuring squeeze. “Take your time. But don’t wait too long, okay?”
As the night wore on, you found it increasingly difficult to concentrate on anything other than the events of the day. The kiss with Jay played on a loop in your mind, each detail vividly etched into your memory. The touch of his lips, the warmth of his hands, the intensity in his eyes—it all made your heart race.
Karina, sensing your distraction, eventually left you alone to process your thoughts. You lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, replaying the moment over and over. You wondered what it meant for the two of you. Was it just a spur-of-the-moment thing, or was there something deeper behind it?
When you entered class, you didn't even look up at Jay; you went straight to the desk and started taking your stuff out. You couldn't even sleep properly because you were overthinking, and overthinking led to conclusions. A conclusion that made you afraid, but you realized it was just the truth.
You liked Park Jongseong. You liked your nemesis.
When did it happen? You didn't even know. Maybe it was during one of those intense debates where his passion matched yours in high school that the fire in his eyes ignited something within you. Or perhaps it was the rare, fleeting moments when you saw him vulnerable, a crack in his confident facade revealing a depth you hadn't anticipated. It was in those shared silences that the competitive tension melted into something inexplicably intimate.
Tumblr media
As the days passed, you found yourself drawn to his brilliance, his unwavering determination, and the way he challenged you to be better and sharper. The rivalry that once felt like a battle now seemed like a dance, a complex, beautiful interaction where every move he made pushed you to discover new strengths within yourself.
The realization was both terrifying and exhilarating. You had always prided yourself on your independence and your clarity of purpose. Yet here you were, your heart racing at the thought of Jay, feeling a pull that defied logic and reason. In acknowledging this truth, you confronted a vulnerability you hadn't allowed yourself to feel before.
Jay was more than an adversary. He was a mirror reflecting not only your ambition but also your capacity for deep, unexpected connection. This newfound awareness made you question everything—your goals, your path, and the very nature of love and competition.
In that moment of clarity, as you sat there pretending to focus on your notes, you understood that this love wasn't a distraction or a weakness. It was a profound, transformative force, one that had the potential to reshape your world and redefine the boundaries between rivalry and romance.
But the thing was, were you ready to actually tell Jay? Hell no.
After class, you hurried to gather your things, hoping to escape before Jay could catch up with you, but it could be a stupid thing to do since you were both meeting at the library for the project. But as you reached the door of the library, you felt a hand gently grab your arm. You turned to see Jay standing there, his expression a mix of something you couldn't describe.
“Hey, can we talk? Before entering,” he asked, his voice soft but insistent.
You nodded, unable to trust your voice to respond. You stood there, both of you silent for a moment, as you tried to find the right words.
“About yesterday,” Jay began, running a hand through his hair. “I just... I didn’t expect that to happen.”
“Me neither,” you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper. “It just… it just did.”
Jay nodded, looking down at the ground for a moment before meeting your eyes again. “But it happened."
"It did," you said, the air getting thicker as you both didn't know what to say.
"Please don't take this too deep, but can we actually put this talk on hold and straight-up focus on the project?"
"Please." The words came immediately, and that made Jay throw a nervous laugh mixed with yours.
"Okay, then… Let's get to work. The paper is in a few days."
The next few days were a whirlwind of research, late-night study sessions, and endless discussions about your project. Despite the unresolved tension between you and Jay, you both managed to stay focused and work together effectively. The looming deadline was a constant reminder of the importance of your task, pushing any personal distractions to the background.
In the library, you and Jay sat side by side, surrounded by books and papers. The atmosphere was charged with a mixture of urgency and unspoken emotions. Occasionally, your hands would brush as you reached for the same book or piece of paper, sending jolts of electricity through you both. Each time, you would quickly pull away, exchanging awkward glances, before diving back into your work.
You two didn't even fight anymore, mostly because of that incident.

“Hey, Jay?” You said it softly, breaking the silence. You were both waiting for the call from the principal after a small meeting he had in his office, and your hearts were beating faster than usual. Jay looked at you, the big folder in his hands with all the projects printed, forgetting to pay attention to you.
“Yeah?”
“I just wanted to say thank you. For everything. You’ve been really great.”
A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips. “Thanks, loser. You too.”
The moment hung between you, heavy with the weight of unsaid words. You rolled your eyes at the very usual nickname he gave you.
"Both of you have been called; you can enter now." You did what she said and went inside. You took a deep breath before going in. The principal gave a big smile to you two and welcomed you with open arms.
"Did you guys bring the presentation?"
"Yes, we did. Not only printed, but we also have a presentation, the document online, sketches that support some of the information there, and notes that complement the information on the official document," you said while Jay was putting everything on the big desk. The principal smiled bigly at the papers and later at both of you.
"We'll keep you guys informed; you are probably the first ones to send this, so we will have a response soon if this is the winner or not. The judges of the school will verify what we said, and we will send them to the contest."
"Thank you so much for this opportunity; we are really confident." Jay said it with a smile on his face, and you did the same.
"You guys are dismissed."
You both left the principal’s office with a mix of relief and nervous anticipation. The weight of the project had been lifted, but the unresolved tension between you and Jay lingered in the air. As you walked side by side through the hallway, you couldn't help but feel a sense of unease, unsure of what would come next.
"Well, that’s done," Jay said, breaking the silence. He glanced at you, his expression unreadable.
"Yeah, finally," you replied, trying to muster a smile. "Now, we just wait."
Jay nodded, and for a moment, neither of you spoke. The unspoken emotions from the kiss still hung heavily between you, creating palpable tension.
"Listen," Jay began, his voice hesitant, "about the kiss. We should probably talk about it. I mean, we can’t just ignore it forever, right?"
You felt a knot form in your stomach. "I know. It’s just... complicated."
"Yeah, it is," Jay agreed. He stopped walking and turned to face you. "But I think we need to figure out what it means for us."
You looked into his eyes, seeing a mix of uncertainty and determination. Taking a deep breath, you nodded. "You're right. We do."
"How about we go somewhere more private? My dorm is free if you want to talk there," Jay suggested, his tone gentle.
"Okay," you agreed, feeling a mixture of anxiety and relief.
The walk to Jay’s dorm was quiet; both of you were lost in your own thoughts. When you arrived, Jay opened the door and gestured for you to enter first. The room was tidy, and you both sat down on the bed you had shared earlier when he cleaned your wound.
"So," Jay began, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly, "where do we start?"
"I guess we start with how we feel," you said, feeling your heart race. "I mean, I’ve been trying to figure it out myself."
Jay nodded, his eyes focused on you. "Me too. And I think I know how I feel, but I want to hear from you first."
You took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment. "Jay, I feel the kiss was an impulse, the moment, the tension mostly. I was very sad and hurt that day, and that was just. unexpected on my part. I'm really sorry if that kiss made you grossed out."
Silence once again filled the room. You saw Jay's eyes; they were simply blank, not showing any signs of emotion, and that just made you even more nervous. You actually didn't know why you even said that, but it was too late to take it back now. You bit your lip, avoiding his gaze and waiting for his response.
Jay sighed, his shoulders tensing a bit. “You think it was just the moment?”
You nodded, feeling a pang of guilt. “I think so. It was intense, but it was also confusing. I was emotional and... I’m sorry, Jay.”
Jay looked at you for a long moment. “You don’t need to apologize. I understand. It’s been a stressful time for both of us. I was also about to tell you that.”
You felt a wave of relief, but also a hint of sadness. You had expected him to say something different—maybe even confess that he felt something more. Instead, he was letting you off the hook, making it easier for you to retreat back into the safety of your previous dynamic.
Jay stood up and moved to his desk, picking up a book and pretending to flip through it. “So, what now? Do we just go back to how things were?”
You stood up as well, feeling a surge of frustration. “I don’t know, Jay. I just… I need some time to figure things out.”
He nodded, still not looking at you. “Okay. Take all the time you need. We’ll figure it out.”
You felt a lump form in your throat, but you forced a smile. “Thanks, Jay. And... thanks for being understanding.”
He finally looked up, giving you a small, sad smile. “Anytime, loser.”
You chuckled, the nickname bringing a sense of normalcy back to the situation. “See you around, idiot.”
With that, you left his dorm, your mind swirling with conflicting emotions. You needed time, but you couldn’t help but wonder if you were making a mistake by pushing him away. The truth was, you did feel something during that kiss—something more than just a momentary impulse. But admitting that to Jay and yourself was terrifying.
Tumblr media
Over the next few weeks, probably the two longest weeks you've ever had, you threw yourself into your studies and extracurricular activities, trying to distract yourself from thoughts of Jay. You saw him in class, but the tension between you was still palpable. He was polite, even friendly, and his mean demeanor toward you didn't change too much, but there was a distance that hadn’t been there before.
You were walking back to your dorm, reading the notes you took in class for a test the next day.
“Hey, loser!” You heard Jay's voice, and you turned so quickly for something. He was running to you with a smile on his face, holding a paper in his hand as he excused himself from the students walking in the same direction as you.
“What?” you asked, trying to muster some enthusiasm from him once he stood in front of you.
"Read." You took the paper once you realized this, and your mouth gradually opened in shock.
""We would like to inform you that HYBE University won first place and are going to be welcoming with open arms to present their project and get the deserved award...""
"We are going to the Maldives!" You jumped to Jay, and he held you tight, your legs getting locked in his waist since you jumped too high. He laughed, spinning you around before gently setting you back down. The excitement of the moment washed over both of you, momentarily erasing all the tension and confusion.
"This is amazing!" you exclaimed, your eyes shining with joy. "I can't believe it!"
"Me neither," Jay agreed, his smile just as wide. "We did it, loser."
As the initial excitement began to settle, you both stayed that way, the weight of everything that had happened between you lingering in the air. You could feel the unspoken emotions bubbling just beneath the surface, but for now, the happiness of your shared success took precedence.
"Now, we need to get prepared for those two weeks."
"We sure do," he said. Your eyes scanned his face. His not wearing glasses again made you see his eyes, glazed by the excitement. His cheeks were a slight shade of pink, and his lip was with his characteristic lip slit of how he used to peel a part of its skin when he was anxious, something you caught when you started to see him in another light.
"How do we even start?"
"Probably by putting me back to the ground first."
"Oh, shit. I'm sorry." He then did what you said gently, his fingertips traveling quickly by your waist, making your heart beat slightly faster. You looked at the paper and saw some details that you missed during the moment.
"Appearantly, we only need to pack enough, talk with our teachers, and get our passports ready."
"Want me to do that for you? You can't do things well on your own."
"Cut the crap, clown."
"Finally, a new nickname is coming from you." You rolled your eyes as you opened your back and put your stuff there.
"We will see each other next week in an airport; keep in contact with me if you want me to do anything in case you can for that other occasion."
Jay looked at you in surprise. "You know."
"You won the last three games; this is the final, right? Everyone has talked about it; I have been trying to escape from it."
"Oh yeah, it's actually in a few minutes."
"Then why aren't you in uniform?"
"I have to rush to my dorm; I cleaned it up."
"Good luck in your game."
"You… yeah, thanks. Gotta rush, loser. I need more extracurriculars than you!" You watched him disappear, a mix of relief and something else you couldn’t quite identify settling in your chest. The weeks ahead were going to be intense, not just because of the trip to the Maldives, but because you had no idea how things would unfold between you and Jay.
You went to your room. Karina was getting ready to watch the game and support her boyfriend, Jaewook. You put all your stuff on top of your bed as you started talking about the good news to Karina, and she didn't stop at all from telling you how happy she was for you.
"Are you not going to the game?"
"You know I'm not into sports."
"Please, you are the only one who can explain to me what the hell is going on there. Beside, don't even dare to lie to me after I gave you the Shaq t-shirt." You laugh for a moment.
"Just go to the game and have fun." She let out a sigh as she took her cellphone and waved goodbye. You did your normal routine: wash up, have a snack, and open your books to keep studying. You were so used to that routine that it almost felt comforting in its predictability. But tonight, something was different. Jay’s excitement about the Maldives trip, his playful banter, and his unexpected vulnerability had all left you feeling unsettled.
You tried to focus on your notes, but the words seemed to blur together. Your mind kept drifting back to Jay, his smile, and the way he had held you so tightly. You sighed and closed your textbook, admitting defeat. Maybe Karina was right. Maybe you did love Jay and need a break.
Grabbing a Seattle Supersonics t-shirt from your drawer, you quickly changed and headed towards the gym. As you walked, you could hear the faint roar of the crowd growing louder with each step. You reached the entrance, and the energy inside the gymnasium hit you like a wave. The bleachers were packed, with students wearing school colors, having their faces painted, and holding up signs.
You spotted Karina in the front row, screaming with the crowd. You made your way over, squeezing through the crowd, and sat down beside her.
“So you did come,” she shouted over the noise, her eyes shining with excitement while poking you.
“Yeah, well, I figured I could use a break,” you replied, trying to hide your nervousness, but Karina just knows you too well.
"Stop lying to yourself; you came because you wanted to finally see a game." You looked at the court, seeing Jay playing and running around with a serious face.
"I came to see someone playing in the game." You finally let it out to her, her eyes widening at you finally revealing the truth.
"You came to see Jay?!"
"You told me to stop lying to myself. I'm doing it."
The game was already underway, with the players moving fast across the court. Your eyes were always on Jay. He was in his element, focused, and determined. Despite the distance that had grown between you, you couldn't help but feel proud of him in every way possible.
As the game progressed, you found yourself getting caught up in the excitement. You cheered along with the crowd, feeling a rush of adrenaline every time Jay made a play. The tension between the two teams was palpable, with each point bringing them closer to the final buzzer.
With only a few minutes left on the clock, the score was tied. The crowd was on the edge of their seats, the air thick with anticipation. Jay had the ball, weaving through the defenders with a skill that left you breathless. He made a final, daring shot just as the buzzer sounded.
The ball sailed through the air, time seeming to slow down as everyone held their breath. Then, with a perfect swish, it went through the hoop. The gym erupted in cheers, the crowd going wild. Jay’s team had won.
You jumped to your feet, screaming and clapping along with everyone else. Jay was mobbed by his teammates, their faces alight with joy. He looked up into the stands, his eyes searching until they found yours. For a brief moment, your eyes locked, and he gave you a small, almost shy smile.
After the game, you and Karina made our way down to the court. Jaewook was already there, lifting Karina off her feet in a celebratory hug. You stood back, watching the happy scene unfold around you.
Jay was surrounded by his teammates, all of them laughing and patting him on the back. He looked like he was on top of the world, but when his eyes found you again, you could see a different kind of excitement there, one that seemed to be just for you.
He broke away from the group, jogging over to you. “Hey, loser.” he said, but his voice was softer than usual, almost hesitant.
“Hey, champion,” you replied, a teasing smile on your lips. “Nice game.”
“Thanks.” He ran a hand through his sweat-dampened hair, looking almost nervous. “I saw you in the stands. I didn’t think you’d come.”
“Well, I figured it was time to see what all the fuss was about,” you said, shrugging nonchalantly, even though your heart was pounding.
Jay laughed, a sound that seemed to lighten the air between you. “I’m glad you did.” He hesitated, glancing around at the bustling crowd before turning back to you. “So, Maldives, huh? I guess we’ll be seeing a lot of each other.”
"Yeah, it looks like it.” You met his gaze, the unspoken tension swirling between you. “I’m sure we can handle it, right?”
“Of course. Just keep your distance, and we’ll be fine,” he said with a smirk, though his eyes betrayed the words. There was something deeper there, something he wasn’t saying.
“Same goes for you,” you shot back, the familiar banter masking the undercurrent of emotions.
Tumblr media
A week later, you found yourself at the bustling airport, rolling your suitcase behind you. The excitement of the upcoming trip was mixed with a sense of nervousness, mostly because you knew Jay would be there too, but the excitement of getting yourself known in such a community where opportunities will arrive just puts you in such a good mood. You scanned the crowd, looking for familiar faces among your classmates and professors.
“Hey, loser,” Jay’s voice called out from behind you. You turned to see him striding toward you, a grin on his face. He was dressed casually in a hoodie and jeans, with a backpack slung over one shoulder and his glasses. Even in a casual outfit, he looked good in every aspect.
“Hey, clown,” you replied, trying to keep your tone light. “Ready for the Maldives?"
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” He adjusted his backpack, glancing around. “Checked in already?”
“Yeah, just waiting for the other teachers,” you said, nodding toward the rest of a group of other universities from South Korea that were attending too. “You?”
“I just got here. I almost missed my ride,” he said with a chuckle. “Typical, right?”
“Very typical,” you said, rolling your eyes but smiling. “Let’s get in line for security. We don’t want to be the ones holding everyone up.”
As you made your way through security and to the gate, the conversation was surprising easy, filled with the usual teasing and playful jabs that some teachers were preventing due to your habit of slapping someone. The flight itself was uneventful and quiet since both of you wore your headphones and Jay went to sleep while you revised the content. Soon enough, you were landing in the Maldives, the excitement of the new surroundings washing over you.
After going through customs and collecting your luggage, you and Jay found yourselves standing side by side, waiting for the bus that would take you to the hotel.
“First time in the Maldives?" Jay asked, glancing at you.
“Yeah,” you said, looking out at the busy airport. “You?”
“Same here. It should be interesting.” He looked at you, a slight smile playing on his lips. “Hope you don’t get lost.”
“I won’t if you don’t get in my way, idiot.” You shot back, but there was no bite in your words.
The bus ride to the hotel was filled with chatter and laughter from the other groups, everyone buzzing with excitement. Jay sat next to you, both of you quietly taking in the sights as the city unfolded around you.
As you and Jay approached the front desk to check into the hotel, the clerk greeted you with a polite smile.
“Welcome to our hotel,” she said, typing away at her computer. “Let me check your reservations. Ah, it looks like we have a slight issue.”
Your heart sank. “What kind of issue?” you asked, exchanging a worried glance with Jay.
“Well, it appears that your school made the reservations quite late, and due to the high demand, we only have one room left for you two,” she explained, looking apologetic. “It’s one of our best suites, but it only has one bed.”
You felt your face heat up, and from the corner of your eye, you could see Jay shifting uncomfortably. “Are you sure there aren’t any other rooms?” you asked, trying to keep the panic out of your voice.
“I’m afraid not,” the clerk said, shaking her head. “I apologize for the inconvenience, but I assure you it’s a very spacious room.”
Jay cleared his throat, attempting to sound nonchalant. "Well, I guess we don’t have much of a choice, do we?”
You sighed, feeling flustered but trying to stay composed. “I guess not,” you muttered. “Let’s just get our keys.”
The clerk handed you the key cards and offered a sympathetic smile. “I hope you enjoy your stay. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask.”
You and Jay headed to the elevator in silence, both of you clearly uncomfortable with the situation. As the elevator doors closed, Jay finally broke the silence. “This is going to be interesting,” he said, his tone dry.
“You can say that again,” you replied, feeling a mix of frustration and nervousness. “Let’s just try to make the best of it.”
When you reached the room, you swiped the key card and pushed the door open. The suite was indeed luxurious, with a large bed dominating the center of the room, a sitting area, and a balcony with a breathtaking view of the city. There was palpable tension in the air as you both took in the room.
“Well, at least it’s a nice room,” Jay said, trying to sound upbeat.
“Yeah,” you agreed, setting your suitcase down. “I guess we should figure out how to make this work.”
Jay nodded, looking slightly uncomfortable. “We can set some boundaries. I’ll take the couch if you want.”
You glanced at the couch, which looked plush but not exactly ideal for sleeping. “That’s not necessary. The bed is big enough for both of us, as long as we stick to our sides.”
“Deal,” Jay said, a hint of relief in his voice. “Let’s just focus on the project and not let this get weird.”
“Agreed,” you said, though you couldn’t ignore the fluttering in your stomach.
After unpacking a few things and freshening up, you saw a letter with today's date. You reached for it as you opened it.
"You guys are invited to the welcome dinner tonight at 7 p.m. in the main banquet hall. We hope to see you there as we kick off this exciting week. Sincerely, The Conference Committee."
You read the invitation aloud, and Jay glanced at his watch. “That’s in a few hours. It should give us enough time to settle in and maybe explore a bit,” he said.
“Good idea,” you agreed, feeling a bit more relaxed now that there was a plan. "Let's go and check out the beach"
Jay’s face lit up. “Absolutely. I’ve been dying to see the water.”
After changing into more casual, beach-friendly attire, you both headed down to the lobby and out towards the hotel’s private beach. The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow over the sand and waves. It was picturesque, like something out of a travel magazine.
“Wow,” you said, taking it all in. "The view is amazing"
Jay nodded, his eyes on the horizon, and later on, without your noticing it, your beauty was breathtaking to him. “It makes the awkward room situation a bit more bearable, doesn’t it?”
You laughed, feeling the tension ease even more. “Yeah, it does.”
You walked along the shore as the sky turned pink and purple with the setting sun. You both found a spot to sit and watch the waves roll in. It was peaceful, a stark contrast to the bustling airport and the initial stress of the room mix-up; everything felt beyond different. If someone had ever told you that in a few years you and Jay would have a peaceful moment on a beach without saying mean things to each other, you would've laughed so hard that your stomach would hurt.
“Do you think this conference will really open doors for us?” you asked, voicing a thought that had been lingering in your mind.
Jay looked thoughtful. “I think it’s what we make of it. If we put ourselves out there, network, and showcase our best work, then yeah, it could lead to some great opportunities.”
You nodded, appreciating his optimism. “I guess it’s just a bit intimidating, you know? There are so many talented people in one place.”
“True,” Jay agreed, “but you belong here as much as anyone else. Don’t sell yourself short.”
His words were comforting, and for the first time, you looked at him with red cheeks, his gaze already at you and not even breaking eye contact.
After a while, you both headed back to the hotel to get ready for the welcome dinner. The suite felt less awkward now; the initial discomfort was replaced by a budding sense of friendship. As you dressed up for the evening, you couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves about what the night would bring.
When you and Jay arrived at the banquet hall, it was already buzzing with activity. Professors, students, and industry professionals mingled, and the air was filled with lively conversation and laughter. You spotted your classmates and professors and waved, feeling a bit more at ease in the familiar company.
“Ready to dive in?” Jay asked, offering a reassuring smile.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” you replied, taking a deep breath.
As you and Jay entered the bustling banquet hall, you were immediately swept into the lively atmosphere. The room was filled with the buzz of conversation, laughter, and the clinking of glasses. You and Jay made your way through the crowd, exchanging pleasantries and introducing yourselves to various professors and students from universities around the world.
At one point, you found yourself deep in conversation with a group of students discussing their projects. Jay was beside you, engaging with a professor who seemed particularly interested in his work. As the night progressed, you both mingled separately, meeting new people and making connections.
It was during one of these moments that you met Doyoung, a student from another university.
His tall, lean frame was draped in a tailored suit that accentuated his poised elegance. Dark, almond-shaped eyes, deep with intellect and warmth, scanned the room, each glance imbued with a sense of calm assurance. His jet-black hair, perfectly styled, framed a face that was striking in its symmetry—high cheekbones, a slender nose, and lips that hinted at a perpetual, gentle smile. There was an aura about him—an effortless blend of sophistication and approachability—and you quickly found yourself engrossed in a conversation about your shared interests. Doyoung had a way of making you feel at ease, and you enjoyed the easy flow of dialogue between you.
“So, what’s been your favorite part of the conference so far?” Doyoung asked, his eyes sparkling with genuine curiosity.
“Well, it’s only just started, but I’d say the welcome dinner is pretty high up there,” you replied with a laugh. “It’s been great meeting so many passionate people.”
“Yeah, it’s definitely a great start,” Doyoung agreed, smiling warmly, his eyes eyeing you up and down. “I’m looking forward to seeing what the rest of the week brings.”
As you continued to chat, you were unaware of Jay’s gaze from across the room. He had finished his conversation and was scanning the crowd, his eyes landing on you and Doyoung, far away. There was an unfamiliar feeling gnawing at him as he watched you laugh and engage so effortlessly with this new acquaintance.
Jay felt a twinge of jealousy, though he tried to push it aside. He didn’t want to admit it, but seeing you with someone else, someone who seemed to be getting along with you so well, made him feel uneasy. He took a sip of his drink, trying to refocus his attention on the conversations around him, but his eyes kept drifting back to you and Doyoung.
Meanwhile, you were oblivious to Jay’s inner turmoil.
As the evening wore on, Jay found himself standing on the periphery of the room, his gaze still occasionally drifting toward you and Doyoung. He couldn’t help but feel a bit sidelined, despite his own successful interactions throughout the night. He knew he had no right to feel this way, but the jealousy lingered.
Finally, you noticed Jay standing alone and excused yourself from Doyoung. You walked over to Jay with a concerned look on your face. "Hey, are you okay? You’ve been quiet for a while.”
Jay snapped out of his thoughts, forcing a smile. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just taking a breather.”
“Come on, let’s go to eat; it looks like they are about to serve,” you said, tugging at his sleeve. “And we’ve still got a lot of people to meet.”
Eventually, hours passed, the nipght began to wind down, and people started to head back to their rooms. You and Jay walked back to your suite, the comfortable silence returning between you.
“That Doyoung guy seems nice,” Jay remarked casually as you entered the room.
“Yeah, he is,” you agreed, setting down your things. “It was great meeting him.”
Jay nodded, not saying anything further, but having that weird feeling inside him. You both settled into your places, backs facing each other.
“Goodnight, Jay,” you said, feeling a sense of contentment.
“Goodnight, dumbass.”

One week later, the day of the presentations and award ceremony had finally arrived. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation as participants milled about, reviewing notes, and giving each other last-minute pep talks. You and Jay were backstage, waiting for your turn to present; the presentation was only about the winners, going from third place to first.
You felt a knot of nervousness tightening in your stomach as you watched the other presenters go up on stage. You tried to focus on your breathing and keeping your outfit perfect—a tight, elegant, short black dress that matched Jay's suit—but the anxiety was creeping up on you, making it hard to concentrate on both actions.
Jay noticed your fidgeting and put a reassuring hand on your shoulder. “Hey, you’ve got this,” he said, his voice calm and steady. “We’ve practiced a million times. You know the material inside and out.”
You managed a small smile, appreciating his support. “Thanks, Jay. I just… I don’t want to mess this up.”
“You won’t,” he said firmly. “Just remember to breathe and take your time. We’re a team, and we’ll get through this together.”
Before you could respond, Doyoung appeared, a wide grin on his face. “Hey! Ready to wow everyone?” he asked, his tone a bit too enthusiastic.
You nodded, trying to muster up some confidence. “Trying to be.”
Doyoung got near you, his hand on your waist and lips on your neck, surprising you the innapropiate action. “You’ll be great. Just remember, no one will notice if you mess up a little. Besides, even if you do, it’s not the end of the world. Right, Jay?”
Jay’s eyes narrowed slightly, sensing the unhelpful tone in Doyoung’s words and action. “Right,” he said, his voice cool as he got closer to you, his back facing you and looking straight up to Doyoung's eyes. “But we’re not planning on messing up, are we?”
Doyoung laughed, seemingly oblivious to Jay’s irritation. “Of course not. Just saying, there is no need to be too stressed. Anyway, break a leg!” With that, he sauntered off, leaving you feeling more jittery than before.
Jay turned back to you, his expression softening. “Ignore him,” he said gently. “You’re going to do amazing. Just focus on what we’ve practiced. You’ve got this.”
You took a deep breath, feeling a bit more centered thanks to Jay’s words. “Okay. Let’s do this.”
When it was finally your turn, you and Jay stepped onto the stage. The bright lights momentarily blinded you, and the sea of expectant faces made your heart race. But then you glanced at Jay, who gave you an encouraging nod.
As you began your presentation, the initial nerves started to fade. The familiar rhythm of your practiced lines and the supportive presence of Jay beside you helped you find your footing. You presented your project with clarity and confidence, your voice growing steadier with each passing moment.
Jay’s part of the presentation flowed seamlessly, his calm demeanor and articulate delivery complementing your own. Together, you made a strong team, and by the time you finished, the audience was clearly impressed, responding with enthusiastic applause.
Backstage, you let out a relieved breath, feeling a wave of accomplishment wash over you. “We did it,” you said, turning to Jay with a grin.
Jay smiled back, his eyes shining with pride. “I told you we would. You were incredible.”
“Thanks to you,” you replied, feeling a warmth spread through you at his praise.
Doyoung reappeared, clapping his hands. “Great job, you two! I knew you had it in you.”
“Thanks, Doyoung,” you said, though you couldn’t help but feel a bit of annoyance at his earlier comments.
Jay, however, remained polite but distant. “I appreciate it,” he said, steering the conversation back to you. “Now let’s go enjoy the rest of the event and see what awards we’ve earned.”
As the evening progressed, the awards ceremony began. Your name was called, along with Jay’s, for the excellence in research award. Walking up to the stage to accept it was a surreal moment, filled with pride and satisfaction. The hard work had paid off, and the recognition felt incredibly rewarding.
Afterward, you and Jay stood together, holding your awards and basking in the glow of your achievement. As the awards ceremony concluded, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement and celebration. You and Jay stood side by side, clutching your awards, surrounded by a crowd of congratulatory peers and organizers. The sense of accomplishment was palpable, and you couldn't help but feel a surge of pride in what you had achieved together.
All of you went to another venue for a small party for the young people, but before you could even get a snack, you were called by one of your teachers to present you to the CEO of one of your favorite companies, leaving Jay and Doyoung.
"Okay, what's your deal with her?" Jay asked Doyoung to put one of his hands in his pocket while the other held a drink.
Doyoung chuckled lightly, taking a sip of his drink before responding. "My deal? Just being friendly. She's cool, isn't she?"
Jay's jaw clenched slightly, his patience wearing thin. "Yeah, she's cool. But you're being a bit too friendly, don't you think?"
Doyoung raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. "Hey, I'm just being supportive. You two make a good team."
Jay's gaze hardened, his voice dropping to a low, controlled tone. "Supportive? Or are you trying to get under my skin?"
Doyoung smirked, his casual demeanor faltering slightly. "What, jealous, Jay? I didn't think you had it in you."
Jay took a step closer, his frustration simmering beneath the surface. "Watch yourself, Doyoung. She's not just some girl you can flirt with."
Doyoung straightened, his own patience wearing thin. "Relax, man. I'm just having fun. Besides, it's not like you've made a move."
Jay's eyes narrowed, his fists clenching involuntarily. "She doesn't need you making moves on her either."
Before the tension could escalate further, a voice interrupted from the side. "Is everything okay here, guys?"
It was a mutual friend who had been observing the tense exchange. Jay took a deep breath, forcing himself to relax. "Yeah, everything's fine," he replied through gritted teeth, shooting a final glare at Doyoung before walking away.
"Don't worry, Jay, I'll bring it to your room after she's done with me!"
As soon as Doyoung's words hung in the air, Jay's expression darkened. The comment hit a nerve, pushing Jay over the edge of restraint. Without another word, Jay's fist swung swiftly, catching Doyoung off guard and connecting squarely with his jaw.
Doyoung staggered back, surprised by the sudden blow. He recovered quickly, his own anger flaring as he lunged forward, fists clenched. The two young men grappled, exchanging heated punches as they wrestled against each other.
The room around them erupted into chaos as people shouted and tried to intervene, but Jay and Doyoung were locked in their own battle. Jay's determination to protect you fueled his strength, while Doyoung fought back fiercely, fueled by wounded pride and anger.
Amidst the chaos, you returned from meeting the CEO, your eyes widening in shock as you took in the scene unfolding before you. "Stop it!" you screamed, rushing forward to try and separate them.
It took several people to finally pull Jay and Doyoung apart, their chests heaving with adrenaline and fury. Jay's knuckles were bloodied, and Doyoung nursed a bruised jaw, both glaring daggers at each other.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" someone shouted, their voice filled with disbelief.
Jay took a step towards Doyoung, his voice low and dangerous. "Watch your mouth when you talk about her."
Doyoung straightened up, wiping blood from his split lip. "You think you're so righteous, huh? She doesn't belong to you."
"She doesn't, but she deserves respect," Jay shot back, his voice trembling with suppressed rage. "Something you clearly don't understand."
The tension in the room was palpable as the aftermath of their fight settled in. You stood between them, your heart pounding with a mixture of fear and anger. "Enough," you said firmly, your voice shaking. "Both of you, just stop."
Jay's eyes softened as he looked at you, the storm of emotions in his gaze slowly calming. You felt ashamed; your cheeks were flushed with embarrassment and frustration. Jay followed closely behind you, his steps uncertain at first, then quickening to catch up. The cool night air did little to ease the tension that crackled between you both.
"I'm sorry," Jay began quietly, his voice rough with emotion. "I shouldn't have let it get to that point."
You stopped abruptly in the hallway of the room, turning to face him, your expression a mix of hurt and anger. "Jay, what was that back there?! Punching Doyoung like that?!"
"I put him in his place! He was about to take advantage of you!" You growled in anger, opening the door, throwing your stuff somewhere, and leaving your cellphone on the bed, hands on your head.
"He was not! He was being friendly!"
"Oh my god, you're such an idiot!"
"Oh! Okay! Tell me why the fuck I'm an idiot." You got near to him, head high despite the high difference, you being shorter than him just did something to both of you. He took off the jacket of the suit, messing his hair a little bit in frustration.
"Because you see good in people who have zero good intentions, you're naive and a fool!" His words were like darts to your heart. "I was trying to protect you because only God knows when the time will come when you will regret it!"
"You know the opportunities you blew up right now for your future?! I told you to not do something you'll regret later!" Jay saw you after your words, his fierce gaze on you.
"I don't care! I wasn't even thinking straight!"
"Because you never listen!" you shouted, frustration tingling at the edge of your voice.
"And you never shut up!" Jay's retort was sharp, his voice low and dangerous. He took a step forward, closing the distance between you two. You could feel the heat radiating off his body, your breaths mingling in the scant space between them.
"Maybe if you weren't so stubborn—" Your words were abruptly cut off as Jay’s hand shot out, grabbing your wrist and pulling you towards him. The world seemed to tilt, time slowing to a crawl as he leaned in, his lips a hair's breadth from hers.
"Shut up," he whispered, his voice rough and urgent, his hand firmly place at the back of your head.
Before you could react, his mouth was on yours, demanding and desperate. It was a kiss filled with all the pent-up emotions they had been denying for so long—anger, frustration, longing. Your mind raced, trying to process the sudden shift from hostility to this overwhelming connection. His lips were warm, firm against yours, and for a moment, you fought it, your hands pushing against his chest.
But Jay held firm, his kiss unyielding, until gradually, you felt the tension seep from your body. His touch became gentle, almost pleading, as if asking for forgiveness without words. Your resistance melted away as you began to respond, letting the kiss deepen.
It was a tumultuous mix of emotions—anger still simmering beneath the surface, confusion over the intensity of your feelings, and an undeniable pull towards Jay that defied reason. His lips moved against yours with a rawness that mirrored his earlier aggression, yet now it carried a desperate longing.
As the kiss lingered, you found yourself surrendering to the wave of emotions crashing over you. The fight, the shouting, and the chaos of the evening faded into insignificance. There was only the sensation of Jay’s arms around you, his touch both possessive and tender, pulling you closer as if afraid to let go.
When you finally broke apart, gasping for air, Jay’s forehead rested against yours. His eyes, once filled with fiery determination, now held a vulnerability that mirrored your own. Neither of you spoke, words unnecessary in the charged silence that enveloped you.
"I want you to stay silent and listen to me," Jay began, his voice a hoarse whisper that carried the weight of a thousand unsaid words. You stood there, captivated by the intensity in his eyes and the vulnerability laid bare in his confession.
"Our kiss before this one?" His words hung in the air, heavy with emotion. "It shattered the walls I've built around my heart. It made me realize all the love I've been hiding from you, because, damn it, I love you. More than I ever thought possible. More than I fucking love myself."
His admission echoed in the silence that followed, each syllable dripping with raw honesty and a passion that shook you to the core. Jay took one of your hands, locking it and kissing it, his free hand trembling as he reached out to gently trace the curve of your cheek.
"I've fought it, pushed it away, and denied it to myself," he confessed, his voice breaking with emotion. "But every time I see you, every moment we've clashed, it's been because I couldn't bear the thought of you being hurt. Not by me, not by anyone."
You swallowed hard, the weight of his words sinking into your soul. In Jay's eyes, you saw a lifetime of unspoken desires, of battles fought and wounds healed, all in the name of a love that had defied their turbulent history.
"You're not just someone I want," he continued, his voice trembling with the depth of his emotions. "You're the one I need. The one who challenges me and makes me question everything I thought I knew."
Tears welled in your eyes as Jay's words washed over you, a torrent of passion and devotion that threatened to overwhelm. He brushed a gentle thumb across your lips, his touch igniting a fire within you that burned brighter than any conflict they had faced.
"I want to be with you," Jay whispered, his forehead resting against yours and his breath mingling with yours in the hushed stillness of the moment. "Not despite our differences, but because of them. Because in you, I've found a love that's worth fighting for, worth risking everything for."
His declaration hung in the air, a promise woven with threads of longing and hope. You reached up, cupping his face in your hands and feeling the tremors of his vulnerability beneath your fingertips.
"I love you too."
"You are not joking, right?" Jay said, his eyes revealing happiness despite the tears.
"Of course not, dumbass. I've liked you too."
"Good, because I'm not willing to stop kissing right now."
"God, you're such a loser."
As your lips met again, thanks to you, the intensity between you soared to new heights. The anger and frustration of moments ago were replaced by a consuming desire, each kiss deepening the bond that had been waiting to surface for so long. Jay held you close, his touch conveying both urgency and tenderness, as if he couldn't get enough of you.
The world outside their embrace faded into insignificance as you lost yourself in the heat of the moment. There were no more words needed, only the language of touch and the shared understanding of what this meant between you.
You found hidden strength within you when you accidentally ripped open Jay's shirt, making him smirk into the kiss while he slid down the zipper of your dress, revealing the tantalizing curves beneath. The fabric slipped to the floor in a hushed whisper, joining the symphony of desire that filled the room. Jay's hands traced the contours of your body with reverence, igniting sparks of pleasure that danced along your skin.
"I want all of you," he murmured against your lips, his voice husky with need.
"Then have me."
With each touch and each caress, the bond between you deepened further, transcending words and doubts. All the clothes fell away and inhibitions melted; you surrendered to the rhythm of your desires, entwined in a dance as old as time itself.
Jay took off his glasses and threw them with your clothes, gettin glower to grab the back of your knees, his covered cock touching your core that made you hiss in the middle of the kiss. He left you below him on the bed, your nails slightly digging his shoulders as his lips traveled his way to your neck. You could almost feel his breath quicken with each moment. His hands explored every inch of your body, his touch igniting a fire within you that threatened to consume all reason. With a soft growl, he pinned your wrists above your head, asserting his dominance in a way that made your pulse race even faster.
"I've wanted this for so long," Jay admitted, his voice a mixture of reverence and raw desire. "To taste you, to feel you completely mine."
You gasped as he teased your sensitive skin with his lips and tongue, his movements deliberate and intoxicating. Every touch and every caress sent a jolt of pleasure through you, amplifying the connection between you to a fever pitch.
His fingers trailed down, teasing the edge of your pants before sliding them off, leaving you bare and exposed to his hungry gaze. He growled low in his throat, the sound vibrating through you as he settled between your legs, his breath hot against your inner thighs.
"Tell me you want this," he demanded, his eyes dark with need.
"I want it," you breathed, your voice barely above a whisper, your big doe eyes looking at his down there. "Please, daddy... I want it so bad."
His tongue flicked over your clitoral area, groaning at the newly discovered kink and sending waves of sensation through your body. You arched against him, your fingers tangling in his hair as you urged him on. He felt a little bit of pain, but it motivated him. Jay's mouth moved with purpose, his skillful ministrations pushing you closer to the edge with each passing second.
"Please, daddy, it's so good." You moaned, unable to hold back the plea as pleasure coiled tight within you.
He gave a throaty chuckle against your skin, the vibrations adding to your pleasure. "That's it," he murmured, his voice a husky whisper. "Get up."
His hair grabbed a handful of yours, and you felt ashamed of how much you liked it.
"You want to be a slut? Then fucking act like one." Another kiss began, but this time was just messy. His teeth pulled your bottom lip, and you kept your mouth open, his saliva passing to your needy tongue and tangling with his in a frenzied dance. The passion between you was electric, with every touch and kiss igniting a wildfire of desire. Jay's hands roamed your body with an urgency that matched your own, his grip firm and unrelenting.
"On your knees," he commanded, his voice rough with need.
You obeyed without hesitation, the anticipation sending shivers down your spine. Jay stood before you, his eyes dark with desire as he took off his underwear. The sound of the movement echoed in the room, heightening the tension between you. He pulled it down, revealing his arousal, and your mouth watered at the sight.
"Open wide," he said, his tone a mix of dominance and lust.
You parted your lips, your eyes locked on his as he guided himself to your mouth. The first touch of his hardness against your tongue sent a jolt of excitement through you. You took him in eagerly, your lips wrapping around him as you began to move, your hand stroking the base in rhythm with your mouth.
Jay groaned, his hands tangling in your hair as he guided your movements, sometimes even choking with his pretty cock, making you gag on it and sending vibrations all over his body. "That's it, baby," he murmured, his voice strained with pleasure. "Take it all."
You moaned around him, the vibration making him twitch in your mouth. His hips began to thrust gently, matching your rhythm, each movement bringing him deeper into your throat. You relaxed, allowing him to push further, your eyes watering as he hit the back of your throat.
"Fuck, you're so good at this," he praised, his voice rough with pleasure. "Such a good girl for Daddy."
The intensity of the moment left you breathless, your heart racing as Jay's moans left his mouth, claiming you in a way that left no room for doubt about his intentions. You started to slow down your movements, now making him whine. You took it out of your mouth, and he gave you a serious look.
"Don't play with me."
"Do you want to cum, baby?"
"Stop..." you licked his dick fully, his head falling back in pleasure. "Please, princesse."
"Please, what?" He took your hands, squeezing them as he looked at your state.
"Please make me cum. I'm about to cum."
"God, you're so pretty." That was the last thing you said after going back to give him his head; his whimpers and cries were becoming louder, and you could feel your entrance getting wetter. "Fuck, don't stop. I'm going to cum all over your pretty face."
You moaned at the thought of it, and you just stopped, gaining another whine as you stood up and removed your bra in front of him, making him forget everything and just admire your beauty.
Fuck your imperfections; he fucking loved you just the way you were.
His hands roamed your whole body, exploring every curve and dip with a reverence that made you shiver. The contrast between his rough touch and the tenderness in his gaze sent shivers down your spine. As he pressed his hard body against yours, you could feel his desire, hot and demanding, against your bare skin.
"You're beautiful," he whispered against your lips, his voice rough with need. "Beyond beautiful"
You breathed, your voice trembling with anticipation. "Please make me yours, Jay."
With a growl, he flipped you over, his hands guiding your hips as he positioned you on all fours. The anticipation built to a fever pitch as you felt his weight settle behind you, his hands caressing your back before gripping your hips firmly. He teased your entrance with the head of his cock, eliciting a gasp from your lips as he slowly pushed inside, stretching you with a delicious mix of pain and pleasure.
"God, you feel so good," he groaned, his voice thick with desire.
You moaned in response, pushing back against him as he began to move, each thrust deep and deliberate. The rhythm of your bodies synced—a primal dance of pleasure and connection that left you both gasping for breath. Jay's hands roamed your body, one sliding down to tease your clitoral area while the other held your hip in a possessive grip, guiding your movements as he drove you closer to the edge.
"Please, daddy," you begged, your voice a breathless whisper. "Don't stop."
"I won't," he promised, his thrusts becoming more urgent and demanding. "Not until you come for me, and because I'm not as mean as you."
You bite your lover's lip in a way to hide your smile; even in this situation, he wanted to be better than you. You're going to let him have that.
"God, you feel so good," he growled, his grip on your hips tightening as he picked up the pace. "So tight, so perfect. I'm going to fuck you dumb."
You could only moan in response, your mind consumed by the pleasure he was giving you. Every thrust, every touch, and every whispered word of praise drove you closer to the edge.
"Harder," you managed to gasp, craving more, needing more. He obliged, his movements becoming more urgent and forceful. The sound of skin against skin filled the room, mingling with your moans and his grunts of pleasure. The pain was exquisite, and that could also be told by the way you were clenching around him.
"You're mine," he declared, his voice rough and clear. "Say it."
"I'm yours," you cried out, your body shaking with the intensity of the pleasure. "I'm yours, Jay."
The words seemed to ignite something in him; he turned you around so you faced him as his thrusts became almost frantic as he chased his own release. You could feel yourself teetering on the edge, every nerve ending alive with sensation. You looked down and saw the bulge of his cock, and you rolled your eyes. It was too much, and Jay knew it.
"Cum for me," he ordered, his voice a mix of command and plea. "Cum for me, now."
You could see white dots in your vision, and you felt all your legs being wet by your squirt, your back arching as the pleasure ripped through you, and your orgasm hitting you with the force of a tidal wave. Your cries of ecstasy filled the room, and Jay's name fell from your lips like a mantra as you rode out the intense waves of pleasure.
Jay's grip on your hips tightened, his own release following closely behind yours. With a few final, powerful thrusts, he groaned your name, his release washing over him as he buried himself deep inside you. He held you close, his body trembling with the force of his climax, and you both collapsed onto the bed in a tangle of limbs and shared breaths, he couldn't hold the groan when he left you, he watched all his cum mixing with the squirt, putting everything back inside you and made you shut your legs together..
For a few moments, the only sound in the room was the heavy, shared breathing as you both tried to recover from the intensity of the experience. Jay's arms remained wrapped around you, holding you close as if he couldn't bear to let you go. His fingers gently traced patterns on your skin; his touch is now tender and soothing.
You both cuddled on the bed, hugging him fully as he took all the hair from your face. You both remain silent, your breathing being the only noise you heard. You look at Jay.
"It took one stupid guy and a damn project to actually have this moment of realization." Jay gave you a small laugh mixed with yours, pulling you close to him.
"Are you okay?" he whispered, concern lacing his voice despite the rawness of his earlier dominance.
You nodded, nuzzling into his chest. "Yeah. More than okay."
Jay smiled, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. "Good. I don't ever want to hurt you."
"You didn't, idiot," you assured him, reaching up to cup his face. "It was perfect."
He sighed with relief, his eyes softening as he gazed down at you. "I love you," he said again, this time with no hesitation or doubt.
"I love you too," you replied, your heart swelling with the truth of those words.
The two of you lay there for a while, just holding each other and basking in the afterglow of your shared passion. The intensity of the moment had melted away, leaving behind a sense of deep contentment and connection.
After a few minutes, Jay gently disentangled himself from you and stood up. "Stay here," he said, brushing a kiss against your lips. "I'll be right back."
You watched him go with his cheeks, realizing he was still naked. When he returned, he carried a warm, damp cloth and a bottle of water. He cleaned you gently, his touch tender and caring, before offering you the water.
"Here, drink," he said, his voice soft.
You took the bottle, sipping gratefully as he continued to clean himself up. Once he was done, he climbed back into bed with you, pulling you into his arms.
"Thank you," you whispered, nuzzling into his chest.
"For what?" he asked, his fingers stroking your hair.
"For everything," you replied, your eyes fluttering closed as the exhaustion of the evening caught up with you.
Jay smiled, his hold on you tightening. "Anytime, baby," he murmured. "Anytime."
With that, you both drifted off to sleep, wrapped in each other's arms, knowing that whatever the future held, you would face it together, stronger than ever before.

Returning to South Korea brought a sense of normalcy back to your lives, but the connection between you and Jay had deepened irrevocably. The vibrant hustle of Seoul’s streets, the familiar scents from food stalls, and the comforting routine of university life felt different with Jay by your side. Every shared glance, touch, and smile carried the weight of your newfound closeness.
Despite the demands of classes and assignments, Jay never missed an opportunity to show his affection. His little gestures—leaving notes in your textbooks, bringing you coffee before a lecture, or walking you to your dorm—became the highlights of your days. You couldn't help but feel that something bigger was building up.
One evening, as the sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the campus, Jay led you to the rooftop garden. You followed him, curiosity piqued by the mysterious smile on his face.
"Jay, what's going on?" you asked, trying to read his expression.
"You'll see," he replied, squeezing your hand.
As you reached the rooftop, you were greeted by a breathtaking sight. Fairy lights twinkled around the garden, casting a soft glow over the carefully arranged flowers. A small table was set up with candles and a bouquet of your favorite flowers. It was beautiful, almost magical.
"Jay, did you do all this?" you gasped, turning to look at him.
He nodded, a shy smile playing on his lips. "I wanted to make this moment special for us."
Jay guided you to the table, pulling out a chair for you. Once you were seated, he sat down opposite you, his eyes never leaving your face.
"I know we've been through a lot," he began, his voice steady but filled with emotion. "And I know our journey started off as rivals, always trying to outdo each other. But somewhere along the way, I realized that what I felt for you was so much more than competition."
He took a deep breath, reaching across the table to take your hand. "I remember the first time you beat me in a debate. You were so fierce and passionate, and I was so frustrated but also... impressed. I remember the way you always challenged me and pushed me to be better. And I realized that those moments weren't just about rivalry. They were about admiration. And maybe even something more."
You felt your heart swell at his words, your eyes brimming with tears. "Jay..."
He squeezed your hand, his eyes intense as he continued. "There were so many moments I kept to myself. Like the time you stood up for me in that group project, even though we were supposed to be enemies. Or the way you always seemed to understand me, even when I didn't understand myself. I kept those moments close because they meant everything to me."
Jay stood up then, moving to kneel in front of you. He pulled a small, intricately wrapped box from his pocket, opening it to reveal a delicate necklace with a pendant shaped like a heart.
"I want to be your boyfriend," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "Not just in secret, not just in the moments we steal away from everyone else. I want everyone to know how much you mean to me and how much I love you. Can I be yours? Sorry it took me too long to realize."
Tears streamed down your face as you nodded, unable to find the words to express how you felt. "Yes, Jay. Yes, you can be my boyfriend. And I am sorry too"
He grinned, his eyes shining with happiness, as he stood up and placed the necklace around your neck. Then he pulled you into his arms, holding you close as you both soaked in the significance of the moment.
"I love you, loser," he whispered, his breath warm against your ear in a playful demeanor.
"I love you too, idiot," you replied, your voice also following his tone.
The fairy lights around you seemed to twinkle even brighter, with the flowers swaying gently in the evening breeze. The rooftop garden, with its quiet beauty and romantic ambiance, became the perfect backdrop for the beginning of your new chapter together.
A chapter that you would like to keep writing until your last breath, and this time, your love won't be hidden anymore.

My Dear Sunshine,
From the moment I first laid eyes on you, my world changed in ways I never imagined possible. I remember that day so clearly the way you walked into the room with such grace, your smile lighting up the space around you. I was completely captivated. My heart raced, and I knew, in that instant, that you were someone extraordinary.
As we spoke, I found myself drawn to your kindness, your intelligence, and your genuine warmth. Every word you said, every laugh we shared, deepened my infatuation. I had never felt such a powerful connection with anyone before. You were like a breath of fresh air, and I couldn't get enough.
I often think about that first meeting and how it felt like destiny had brought us together. I am so grateful for that moment because it was the start of something beautiful, something I never want to end.
You have become such an important part of my life, and I can't imagine my future without you in it. I want you to know that my feelings for you are deep and unwavering. I am committed to cherishing you, supporting you, and standing by your side through all of life's ups and downs.

Pile 2
My Dearest Love,
Every moment without you feels like an eternity. I long for you with every beat of my heart and every breath I take. My days are spent thinking of you, dreaming of the life we’ll share. I am waiting for you, holding onto the hope that soon we will be together.
I have so many plans for us, my love. I imagine us exploring the world together, hand in hand. We'll travel to the places we've always dreamed of, wandering the streets of Paris, watching the sunset in Santorini, and walking through the cherry blossoms in Kyoto. Each place will be a new adventure, a new memory created with you by my side.
But more than the places we’ll go, it’s the journey we’ll take together that excites me the most. We’ll face the challenges of life, supporting and loving each other through every obstacle. We'll fight against the world if we must, standing strong together, never letting go of each other. Your strength and courage inspire me, and with you, I feel I can face anything.
Eventually, we will create our own world, a sanctuary built on our love and shared dreams. A place where we can be ourselves, free and happy, surrounded by the warmth of our love. I see us building a home filled with laughter, joy, and endless love. A place where our hearts will always find peace and where our souls will be forever entwined.
I miss you more than words can express. My heart aches for the day when we no longer have to be apart. Until then, know that I am here, waiting for you, planning our future, and dreaming of the incredible life we will share.
With all my love,

Pile 3
My lovely butterfly,
I hope this letter finds you well, wrapped in the warmth of your own beautiful spirit. There are so many things I want to say to you, so many feelings that often get lost in the day-to-day rush of life.
Firstly, please know that I see you. I see the strength in your independence, how you navigate life with such grace and determination. It's one of the things I admire most about you; your ability to stand tall even when the world tries to push you down.
I want you to promise me something, my love. Promise me that no matter what challenges come our way, you'll never lose hope of finding me. Promise me that even on the darkest days, you'll hold onto the belief that we are meant to be together, that our paths will cross when the time is right.
I cherish every moment we spend together, every smile you grace me with, every laugh that echoes through my heart. Your jokes, even the ones that aren't funny, they light up my world in ways you can't imagine. And your madness, oh, how I adore it. It's the spark that ignites our moments together, the unpredictability that keeps life exciting.
I want you to know that I'll never ask you to change who you are. Your beliefs, your dreams, your quirks, they are what make you uniquely you, and that's who I fell in love with.
I promise to always respect your individuality, to never force my beliefs upon you or mold you into someone you're not. Through the ups and downs, the twists and turns of life, I'll be there. I'll be your rock, your shoulder to lean on, your unwavering support. My love for you knows no bounds, it's a love that grows stronger with each passing day, with every sunrise we witness together.
So, my love, hold onto these words when doubt creeps in. Know that you are cherished beyond measure, loved unconditionally, and admired endlessly. Our love story is still unfolding, and I can't wait to see where it leads us next.
Wait for me

The baby's room was a testament to Ben's dedication and love. Together, you had spent countless hours painting, decorating, and arranging every detail with care. As you walked around the room, your heart swelled with a mixture of pride and anticipation.
The soft gray walls provided a calming backdrop, while colorful accents added warmth and personality to the space. A cozy crib stood in one corner, adorned with plush toys and fluffy blankets, ready to welcome your little one into the world.
On the opposite wall, a small dresser and changing table offered practicality and convenience.
As you ran your hand over the smooth surface of the crib, a wave of emotion washed over you. Soon, this room would be filled with the laughter and cries of your precious baby, a thought that filled you with joy and excitement.
Despite the early stage of your pregnancy, seeing the room take shape helped solidify the reality of the new life growing inside you.
For both of you, it was a way to channel your excitement and anticipation, turning the abstract concept of parenthood into something concrete and tangible. Each brushstroke of paint, each carefully chosen decoration, was a step closer to embracing the future as parents.
Sitting in the rocking chair, you gazed out of the window, the soft glow of sunlight filtering through the curtains casting a warm, comforting light in the room.
The rhythmic motion of the rocking chair was soothing, lulling you into a state of peaceful reflection. As you traced gentle circles on your belly, you couldn't help but marvel at the miracle of new life, feeling a profound sense of connection to the tiny being nestled within you.
"You know", you murmured softly, your voice barely above a whisper, "your daddy's been working so hard to get everything ready for you. He's been painting and building furniture, all to make this room perfect for when you arrive".
Your hand gently caressed the curve of your belly as you spoke, a tender smile gracing your lips. "And me? Well, I've been trying my best to take care of you, making sure you're safe and healthy in there".
As you spoke, you felt a faint flutter against your palm.
"And let me tell you about your dad", you continued with a playful smirk, "he's a big tough guy, but deep down, he's a total softie when it comes to you. I've caught him talking to my belly more times than I can count, telling you stories and making all sorts of promises".
You chuckled softly at Ben's earnest attempts to bond with the baby. "He's going to be the best dad, even if he does have a habit of burning eggs in the kitchen".
As you spoke, you couldn't help but feel a surge of affection for Ben. You knew that beneath his tough guy act, he had a heart of gold, especially when it came to you and your baby.
"And you know what else?", you continued with a mischievous grin, "he's absolutely terrified of changing diapers. I swear, every time I mention it, he gets this deer-in-the-headlights look. But don't worry, little one, we'll figure it out together".
"I can't wait to meet you", you whispered, your words filled with love and longing. "We're going to be a family, and I promise to love you more than anything in this world".
You rose from the rocking chair with a gentle sigh, feeling a bit restless and in need of some fresh air. Slipping out of the baby's room, you made your way downstairs and towards the front door. The sun was shining brightly outside, promising a pleasant walk through the neighborhood.
Missing Ben, you decided to head to Vought Tower. The familiar route felt comforting, and soon enough, you found yourself stepping into the sleek, imposing building. You made your way up to his office, greeting a few familiar faces along the way.
Once there, you discovered Ben was in a meeting, so you settled down on the couch in his office. The faint scent of his cologne lingering in the air. You smiled, feeling a sense of closeness despite his physical absence.
As you waited, you absentmindedly stroked your bump, your thoughts drifting to the life you were building together.
Suddenly the door to Ben's office burst open with a loud thud. Ben stormed in, followed closely by Butcher, their heated argument filling the room.
"I can't believe you’re still against fucking killing him, Butcher!", Ben snarled, his face contorted with frustration. "Keeping Homelander captive is a ticking time bomb. He fucking needs to be put down once and for all".
Butcher rolled his eyes, his own anger simmering just beneath the surface. "I've told you before, Soldier Boy, we need him alive for now. There’s too much we don’t know. We can use him as leverage".
Ben's eyes flashed with fury as he paced the room, his hands clenched into fists. "Leverage? You think that psychopath is going to be anyone's fucking leverage? He´s a fucking piece of shit!".
Butcher stepped closer. "And you think going in guns blazing is the answer? This needs to be strategic, not a bloodbath".
Ben’s anger was palpable, and for a moment, you feared he might lash out physically. But then his eyes landed on you, and his expression softened slightly. "What the fuck are you doing here?", he asked, his voice still edged with irritation, but with a hint of concern creeping in.
Butcher couldn’t resist adding his own commentary, a smirk playing on his lips. “Looks like someone brought their distraction to work today”, he said, his tone laced with amusement.
You felt a flush rise to your cheeks as Butcher’s teasing remark earned a sharp glare from Ben.
Before things could escalate further, you decided to intervene, hoping to diffuse the situation. “I just missed you”, you said, trying to keep your tone light. “And I was kinda bored”.
Ben’s gaze softened as it shifted to your belly, a flicker of concern crossing his features. "You shouldn’t be wandering around on your own", he said, his voice tinged with worry. "Especially not with everything going on".
Butcher seemed to sense the change in atmosphere, offering a gruff nod before making his exit. "Fine, fine", he muttered, rolling his eyes as he left the office, leaving you and Ben alone once again.
With Butcher gone, Ben turned his full attention back to you, his expression softening as he approached. "C´mere", he said, his voice gentle as he guided you towards the couch.
Ben's grumpiness seemed to melt away as he gently pushed you down onto the couch, his body weight pressing against yours. With tender care, he lifted your sweatshirt, exposing your bare little baby bump, and began placing soft kisses along its surface.
Your cheeks flushed with warmth as Ben continued to pepper your belly with kisses. With each tender touch of his lips, you felt a surge of affection and adoration for the man beside you.
In a soft, murmured voice, barely above a whisper, Ben expressed his love. "I love you so fucking much", he mumbled against your skin, his words filled with emotion and sincerity.
Ben's hands gently cradled your growing bump, his touch both protective and loving. As he looked up at you, his eyes were filled with a mixture of tenderness and awe.
You couldn't help but smile at the sight of him, his expression reflecting the depth of his love to you and your unborn child. With a soft sigh, you reached out to caress his hair, your heart swelling with affection for the man who meant everything to you.
Passion ignited between you as Ben pressed his lips to yours, his kiss filled with longing and desire. With your legs spread beneath him, you welcomed him closer, the warmth of his body enveloping you as your lips moved together in a fervent dance of love and need. In that moment, nothing else mattered except the two of you.
But Annie's abrupt entrance shattered the moment, her voice cutting through the air with urgency. "Ben, we need your help!", she yelled, her words punctuated by the sounds of chaos and commotion from outside the office. The urgency in her tone sent a jolt of adrenaline coursing through both you and Ben, snapping you out of the intimate bubble you had been enveloped in just moments before.
Ben's demeanor shifted instantly, his focus shifting from you to the chaos unfolding outside the office. With a commanding tone, he ordered, "Stay here", his voice tinged with urgency as the noise escalated and the sound of shattering glass filled the air. You nodded in response, watching as Ben hurried out of the room, his expression grim with determination.
Annie's voice cut through the chaos, her tone urgent as she relayed the situation to Ben. "It's Homelander", she shouted over the noise, her eyes wide with alarm. "And he seems to be on V!".
Ben's jaw tightened with determination as he took in the gravity of the situation. "Stay close", he instructed Annie, his voice firm as he prepared to confront the threat head-on. "We need to take him down before he causes any more damage".
Ben cursed under his breath as he surveyed the scene before him, his eyes narrowing with rage at the sight of the shattered lobby, the injured and screaming people, and the few who lay motionless on the ground, their lives already lost.
Butcher peered out from behind a metal door, his expression a mix of exhaustion and amusement as he glanced at Soldier Boy. "Well, looks like it's another day in paradise, eh?", he quipped, his voice laced with sarcasm. "Who knew babysitting superheroes would be so much fun?".
As Ben dodged another piece of debris hurtling towards him, he muttered under his breath, his voice tense with frustration. "How the fuck did Homelander manage to escape?".
The chaos around them made it difficult to think clearly, but Ben knew they needed to act fast to contain the situation before it spiraled further out of control. With Homelander on V, the stakes were higher than ever, and every second counted in their efforts to bring him down.
As Homelander made his way towards the elevators, Ben cursed under his breath, his jaw clenched with determination. "We can't let him get away", he muttered, his eyes scanning the chaotic scene for any sign of the rogue supe.
With a sense of urgency driving him forward, Ben pushed through the panicked crowd, his focus squarely on intercepting Homelander before he could wreak any more havoc. Time was of the essence, and failure was not an option.
Butcher's grumble mixed with frustration and exhaustion as he observed the elevator doors closing. "Bloody hell, he's probably hunting for you", he muttered towards Ben, his tone dripping with irritation.
Ben's frustration erupted into a string of curses as he realized the danger you might be in. "Fuck", he shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos of the lobby. "We need to get upstairs, now!".
Annie's frustration boiled over as they raced up the stairs, her voice sharp with anger. "Where the fuck is A-Train when we need him?", she cursed, her words punctuated by the sound of their hurried footsteps echoing in the stairwell.
As they sprinted up the stairs with all their might, the sense of urgency weighing heavily upon them, the reality of their limitations became painfully clear. Despite their superhuman abilities, they were still too slow to catch up with Homelander.
Your heart raced as the door slammed open, but your anticipation turned to fear as Homelander strode into the room. Before you could react, his strong grip closed around your throat, pressing you against the wall with alarming force.
Your breath caught in your throat as Homelander's grip tightened, cutting off your air supply. Struggling to speak, you choked out a raspy plea for mercy, but his furious glare told you that he wasn't in the mood for leniency.
"Where is he?", he growled, his voice reverberating with anger. "Tell me, or I'll crush you like a bug!".
"I-I don't know", you managed to gasp out, your voice strained and hoarse. But Homelander's eyes narrowed with suspicion, and he shook you roughly, demanding answers. All you could do was gasp for air, your vision starting to blur as darkness crept in at the edges.
Within seconds, Ben rushing towards Homelander. The rest of the team followed closely behind him, their expressions a mix of concern and readiness for battle.
"Get your fucking hands off!", Ben roared, his voice laced with fury as he confronted Homelander head-on. But Homelander only tightened his grip on you, a menacing sneer twisting his features.
"I'll snap her little neck if you come any fucking closer!", Homelander threatened, his voice dripping with malice as he glared at Ben.
But Ben didn't falter, his gaze locked on yours with unwavering determination. "You touch her, and I swear I'll fucking tear you apart", he growled, his fists trembling with restrained rage.
Homelander's lips curled into a twisted smirk as he observed the scene before him, his grip on you tightening even further. "Looks like you've got yourself in quite the predicament, Soldier Boy", he taunted, his voice laced with amusement as he watched Ben's furious reaction.
You struggled to gasp for air, your vision blurring as the lack of oxygen threatened to overwhelm you. Homelander's mocking words only added to your fear, and you prayed that Ben would find a way to save you before it was too late.
Ben's voice cut through the tension like a knife, his words dripping with barely contained rage as he stepped forward. "Let her go", he growled, his eyes flashing with a deadly intensity. "Or I fucking swear, I'll make you regret it for the rest of your miserable life."
Homelander's smirk widened into a sinister grin as he reveled in the power he held over both you and Ben. "Oh, I don't think so, Soldier Boy", he retorted, his voice oozing with malice. "I have plans for our little reunion, and you're not going to ruin them".
You could feel your strength fading, the world around you growing dim as you struggled to remain conscious.
Homelander's cruel laughter echoed through the room as he taunted Ben, his words laced with disdain. "You know what, since you asked so nicely", he sneered. Without warning, he slammed you against the nearest wall with terrifying force, the impact sending shockwaves of pain coursing through your body.
As darkness closed in around you, you felt a wave of dizziness overwhelm you, your consciousness slipping away as the world faded into blackness.
With a primal scream of "No!", Ben's heart skipped a beat, his worst fears unfolding before his eyes. Without a moment's hesitation, fueled by a surge of pure rage and desperation, he charged towards Homelander, his chest beginning to glow with an otherworldly intensity.
Meanwhile, Butcher sprang into action with lightning speed, his focus solely on rescuing you. He swiftly reached your unconscious and bloodied form, scooping you up in his arms before darting away from the chaotic scene.
As seconds dwindled down to the inevitable explosion, Ben made a split-second decision. With a primal roar, he launched himself at Homelander, their bodies colliding with bone-crushing force as they crashed through the nearest window, hurtling out of the building and into the open air.
Ben detonated in a blinding flash of light, the force of the explosion rippled through the air, shattering windows and sending shockwaves reverberating through the city streets. In that moment of fiery destruction, every trace of V within Homelander's body was obliterated, leaving him powerless and vulnerable once more.
As Homelander attempted to scramble to his feet, Ben swiftly tackled him to the ground, pinning him beneath his formidable strength. With a primal rage burning within him, Ben unleashed a relentless barrage of blows, each strike of his shield raining down with bone-crushing force upon Homelander's defenseless form.
The sound of metal meeting flesh echoed through the air as Ben's fury consumed him, each strike driven by a primal instinct to protect you and exact vengeance upon the one who dared to harm you. With each blow, Homelander's resistance faltered, his once invincible facade crumbling beneath the relentless onslaught. With a sickening crunch, Homelander's body fell limp, lifeless beneath Ben's victorious wrath.
Meanwhile butcher brought you to the hospital of vought, Annie following him quickly. Annie's urgency was evident as she reached out, grabbing Butcher's wrist in a desperate attempt to gain his attention. "Butcher, she's…", she began, her voice fraught with concern.
But Butcher cut her off with a terse nod, his expression grim as he met her gaze. "Pregnant, I know", he replied, his tone clipped and resolute.
Without wasting another moment, Annie led Butcher towards your doctor, her sense of urgency palpable as she handed you over swiftly, ensuring that you received the immediate medical attention you needed.
As the medical team rushed you towards the operating room, panic gripped the air, the urgency of the situation evident in their hurried movements. Doctors and nurses swarmed around you, their voices blending together in a chaotic symphony of commands and reassurances.
Butcher and Annie watched helplessly from the sidelines, their faces etched with concern as they observed the flurry of activity surrounding your unconscious form. Despite their own fears and uncertainties, they remained steadfast, determined to do whatever it took to ensure your safety.
Annie's surprise was evident as she turned to Butcher, her eyes narrowing in disbelief. "How the hell did you know she´s pregnant?".
Butcher shrugged nonchalantly, his gaze steady as he met Annie's incredulous stare. "I pay fucking attention", he replied bluntly, his tone leaving no room for further questions.
Annie's voice cut through the tension, her words tinged with urgency as she turned to Butcher. "I'm going to find Soldier Boy", she declared, her determination evident in her tone. "We need his blood for (Y/N)".
Butcher nodded grimly, his jaw clenched with worry, while Annie darted off, disappearing into the chaos of the tower in search of Soldier Boy.
Butcher's heart sank as he stood outside the operating room, his gaze fixed on the flurry of activity inside. Despite the doctors' efforts, he could hear the ominous rhythm of your heartbeat, irregular and weak. He knew that the odds were stacked against you.
Your injuries were severe—broken bones, internal bleeding, and the trauma inflicted by Homelander had taken its toll. The fact that you were still clinging to life was nothing short of miraculous.
Butcher clenched his fists, his mind racing with a mixture of anger and helplessness. He wanted to storm into the room and demand that the doctors do more, but he knew there was nothing more they could do. All he could do was stand there, waiting, praying for a miracle.
Ben's heart clenched as he burst into the operating room seconds later, his eyes fixed on your pale, unconscious form lying on the table. Covered in Homelander's blood, his own wounds forgotten in the urgency of the moment, he strode forward with purpose.
"No!", he barked, his voice echoing off the sterile walls of the room. "Don't touch her!".
The doctors and nurses turned to look at him, surprise and confusion evident in their eyes. But Ben's gaze was unwavering as he approached the table, his hands trembling with a mixture of fear and determination.
With a steady hand, Ben inserted a needle into his arm, drawing his own blood. His eyes remained fixed on you, his expression a mixture of fear, determination, and desperation. The room fell silent as the doctors and nurses watched, their hands poised but hesitant, ready to intervene if necessary.
Carefully, Ben injected his blood into your system, his movements precise yet urgent. With each drop that flowed into your veins, his heart clenched tighter, his mind racing with a torrent of thoughts and emotions.
"I've got you", he murmured softly, his voice barely a whisper amidst the tension of the room. "Just hold on, Baby. Please…".
Ben's heart clenched with each passing moment, his gaze fixed on you, the love of his life, lying so still on the operating table. The beeping of the machines monitoring your vital signs echoed in the room.
As he watched your heartbeat falter, Ben felt a surge of panic grip his chest. In that moment, it felt as though his own heart had stopped beating. The world around him seemed to fade away, leaving only you and the desperate need to save you.
With trembling hands, he continued to infuse his blood into your veins, willing it to reach every part of your body, to breathe life back into you. Each second felt like an eternity as he waited for a sign, any sign, that you would pull through.
"I can't lose you", he whispered hoarsely, his voice filled with anguish. "Please, (Y/N), don't leave me…".
The sound of the monitor's alarm pierced through the tension-filled silence like a knife, sending a jolt of fear coursing through Ben's veins. His heart sank as he watched the flatline on the screen, the stark reality of the situation hitting him like a sledgehammer.
"No…", he whispered. Tears welled up in his eyes as he felt a surge of desperation wash over him. He couldn't lose you, not like this.
Frantically, he leaned over you, his hands trembling as he searched for any sign of life. He pressed his ear against your chest, praying for the faintest whisper of a heartbeat, but there was nothing.
Panic consumed him as he realized that time was slipping away, that every second mattered. With a sense of determination, he began to administer CPR, his movements desperate and frantic as he fought to bring you back from the brink.
"Come on, Baby", he pleaded, his voice raw with emotion. "Don't you fucking dare leaving me!".
As Ben continued to administer CPR, his hands working with a mixture of desperation and determination. Despite the risk of exacerbating your injuries, he pressed on, each compression accompanied by a silent plea for your return to consciousness.
With every compression, he prayed for a response, a sign that you were fighting to come back to him.
And then, as if by some miracle, he felt the faint flutter of a heartbeat beneath his fingers.
Relief flooded through him, mingled with a sense of disbelief and gratitude. He didn't dare to hope too much, knowing that you were still in critical condition, but the fact that your heart was beating again was a small victory in itself.
Gently, he cradled your battered body in his arms, his voice choked with emotion as he whispered words of encouragement and reassurance. "That's it, (Y/N)", he murmured, his lips brushing against your forehead. "Stay with me. You're going to be okay…".
As Ben continued to infuse you with his blood, he watched with a mixture of relief and apprehension as your heartbeat grew stronger and your injuries began to heal.
Though the process was agonizingly slow, Ben remained by your side, his gaze never leaving your face as he willed you to keep fighting.
The seconds stretched into minutes.
Ben remained steadfast at your side, his heart racing with every beat of yours. The team stood outside the room, anxiously awaiting any signs of improvement. The doctors and nurses hovered around, their expertise focused on monitoring your vital signs and assisting Ben in any way they could.
For over an hour, Ben continued to infuse you with his blood, his determination unwavering as he watched your wounds slowly close and your injuries begin to heal. But still, you remained unconscious.
As the last drop of his blood flowed into your veins, Ben felt a sense of exhaustion wash over him, both physically and emotionally drained from the ordeal.
Ben pulled the needle away. Before he could stand straight, the dizziness overwhelmed him. The massive explosion and the blood loss were too much, even for him.
Butcher reacted quickly, catching Ben before he could collapse to the ground. The weight of his body felt heavy in Butcher's arms as he struggled to keep Ben upright. With a grunt of effort, he managed to support Ben's weight, his own exhaustion evident as he steadied himself against the nearby wall.
"Easy there, mate", Butcher muttered, his voice strained with fatigue. "You did good. Now let's get you sorted".
Ben's head swam with dizziness as he leaned heavily against Butcher, his vision blurring at the edges.
Hours later, Ben awoke in a hospital bed next to yours. He blinked a few times, trying to shake off the grogginess. The sight of you lying still beside him sent a jolt of panic through his chest. He quickly swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up, but another wave of dizziness hit him, forcing him to grip the bed's edge for support.
Butcher and Annie, who had been sitting on the couch, quickly stood up. "Whoa, take it slow there", Butcher said, moving towards Ben. "You’re no use to anyone if you keel over again".
Annie nodded in agreement, her expression a mix of concern and exhaustion. "You need to rest, Ben. You’ve done everything you could".
Ben shook his head stubbornly, his eyes locked on you. "I need to be with her", he muttered, his voice rough. "I can’t just lie here".
Butcher sighed, placing a hand on Ben’s shoulder to steady him. "You’re no good to her if you pass out again. Sit down".
Ben reluctantly sank back onto the edge of his bed, his gaze never leaving your still form. "Is she going to be okay?", he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, the vulnerability in his tone stark and raw.
Annie stepped closer, her eyes soft with empathy. "She’s stable for now. Your blood saved her, Ben. She just needs time to heal".
Anyway, Ben slowly walked over to your bed, his steps heavy and his body still covered in blood. He gently brushed a strand of hair off your face, his fingers trembling.
He waited for a few minutes, the fear of what would follow was too great.
For a moment, he closed his eyes, focusing his super hearing, desperate to hear the heartbeat of his child. But as the silence stretched on, a cold dread settled in his chest. There was no second heartbeat.
Butcher and Annie exchanged worried glances, sensing the shift in Ben’s demeanor. The realization hit Ben like a physical blow.
“Ben…”, Annie began, her voice soft and cautious, tears in her eyes.
Ben shook his head, not ready to hear the words. "No", he whispered, his voice breaking. "No, it can’t be…".
Butcher stepped forward, placing a hand on Ben’s shoulder, his usually harsh demeanor softening slightly. "Come on, Ben”.
...to be continued.

Wrestling Older Brother Sukuna AU HFBU Pt2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's late at night, and the world outside your window is quiet and still. The only sounds that fill the room are the soft murmurs and gasps that escape your lips as Sukuna moves above you. His touch is electric, sending shivers down your spine with every stroke and caress. You feel yourself getting lost in the moment, the world outside fading away as you become completely absorbed in each other.
"Kuna," you gasp, your fingers digging into his shoulders. His response is a low, rumbling growl that vibrates through your chest and sends a thrill straight to your core. "You like that, don't you, babe?" he murmurs into your ear, his breath hot against your skin.
"Yes," you breathe, arching your back to press yourself closer to him. The heat between you is almost unbearable, each touch, each kiss igniting a fire that threatens to consume you both.
Suddenly, the door creaks open, and you both freeze. A small, sleepy voice breaks the silence. "Suku? Y/N/N? What are you doing?"
You and Sukuna whip your heads around to see Yuji standing in the doorway, rubbing his eyes with a tiny fist. Panic seizes you, and you scramble to pull the covers over your naked bodies.
"We were, um, wrestling," you blurt out, your voice an octave higher than usual. Sukuna shoots you a look that's a mix of disbelief and amusement.
"Wrestling?" Yuji repeats, tilting his head in confusion. "Can I watch?"
"NO!" you and Sukuna shout in unison, far too loudly. Yuji jumps, his eyes wide with surprise.
"I mean, it's late, buddy," Sukuna says, trying to sound calm and reassuring. "You should go back to bed, okay?"
Yuji pouts but reluctantly turns around and shuffles back to his room. You and Sukuna wait until you hear his door close before collapsing into laughter, the tension melting away.
"That was close," you say, still giggling as you cuddle up to Sukuna.
"Too close," he agrees, wrapping his arms around you. "We'll have to be more careful. Now where were we?"
"I believe you had me pinned," You murmur.
Sukuna chuckles softly as he leans down to nuzzle your neck. "Pinned, huh? I can work with that,"
Tumblr media
The next morning, you're in the kitchen making breakfast when Yuji bounds in, full of energy as usual. "Good morning, Y/N/N!" he chirps, hopping up onto a stool at the counter.
"Good morning, Yuji," you reply with a smile, flipping a pancake. "Did you sleep well?"
"Yeah!" he says, swinging his legs back and forth. "But I have a question."
You brace yourself, knowing exactly what's coming. "What is it, Yuji?"
"Why were you making funny noises last night?" he asks, his eyes wide with curiosity. "Like 'oh' and 'ah'?"
You nearly drop the spatula, your cheeks flushing bright red. "Well, uh," you stammer, trying to think of a plausible explanation. "It's just, um, part of the special wrestling. Sometimes it hurts a little, and that's why we make those noises."
"Oh," Yuji says, nodding seriously. "But why did Suku say 'you like that, don't you'? Isn't that a silly thing to say during wrestling?"
Sukuna snorts as he strides into the kitchen, his expression somewhere between amused and exasperated. "Morning," he grunts, ruffling Yuji's hair as he passes.
"Suku, why did you say that?" Yuji presses, looking up at him with wide eyes.
Sukuna glances at you, then back at Yuji. "Well, sometimes in wrestling, you say things to, uh, distract your opponent," he says, clearly grasping at straws.
"Oh," Yuji says again, looking thoughtful. "But then why did you say you're gonna make Y/N/N beg?"
You choke on your orange juice, coughing as you try to regain your composure. Sukuna pats your back, though you can see the corner of his mouth twitching as he fights back a smile.
"It's, um, another tactic," Sukuna explains, his voice tight. "To, uh, throw them off balance."
"Why did you say 'good girl'? Is Y/N/N a dog?" Yuji asks, completely oblivious to the awkwardness he's causing.
Sukuna pinches the bridge of his nose, clearly at the end of his patience. "No, Yuji, Y/N/N is not a dog," he says, his voice strained. "It's just something you say to encourage your partner."
Yuji nods slowly, still looking confused but seemingly satisfied with the answers for now. You breathe a sigh of relief, hoping that the questions are finally over.
The rest of the day passes uneventfully, but you can't shake the feeling of dread as Yuji continues to shoot you curious glances. You know it's only a matter of time before he asks more questions, and you can only hope that you'll be able to come up with more convincing answers.
Tumblr media
By the time dinner rolls around, you're a bundle of nerves, anticipating another round of Yuji's innocent but mortifying questions. Sure enough, as soon as you sit down at the table, he pipes up again.
"Y/N/N, why did you and Suku have to wrestle in bed? Can't you wrestle on the floor?" he asks, looking genuinely puzzled.
You exchange a glance with Sukuna, who just shakes his head slightly. "It's, um, a special kind of wrestling that you can only do in bed," you say weakly, knowing how ridiculous it sounds.
"But why?" Yuji presses.
"Because it's, uh, softer and more comfortable," Sukuna interjects, his tone brooking no further argument. "Now eat your dinner."
Yuji seems to accept this answer, though you can see the wheels still turning in his head. You try to focus on your food, but the awkwardness hangs heavy in the air.
After dinner, you and Sukuna sit on the couch, exhausted and grateful for a moment of peace. Yuji is playing with his toys on the floor, seemingly absorbed in his own little world.
You lean against Sukuna, feeling his arm wrap around you. "We really need to be more careful," you murmur, resting your head on his shoulder.
"Definitely," he agrees, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "But we'll figure it out. We always do."
You nod, feeling a sense of calm wash over you. No matter how embarrassing or awkward things get, you know you have each other's backs. And as long as you're together, you can handle anything – even a four-year-old's relentless curiosity.

Retrospective notes and what to keep an eye on after The Legend of Ruby Sunday
I started writing this while watching through a second time. While my thoughts were still a bit random and out of order, I've edited them into something that makes a bit more sense to read through.
Susan:
A little bit weird at first that Ruby asks why the Doctor doesn't recognise his own granddaughter, given that she doesn't know about regeneration yet and Susan Twist is clearly not mixed race. After thinking for a second, I realised she probably just immediately reconciled this as an adoption scenario, especially with her own family and history.
I've posted seperately about my feelings on the retcon of Susan's origins, but I am still surprised we're going this direction. I also find the wording a little bit questionable, as the Doctor makes it sound like he hasn't had children before, when he 100% did.
A Susan misdirect being linked to the word TARDIS is excellent though, given that she claimed to have come up with the word. (People freak out about what this means for her origins, but I don't see why it can't just be that she's responsible for the English acronym translation convention, which then passed on to all of human history thanks to the Doctor's travels.)
We didn't get Susan this time round, but such a massive red herring implies that RTD is planning to build up to such a thing for real, right? I assume we'll also be talking more about her next episode / in Tales of the TARDIS.
I also mentioned this in my live notes, but I quite like the Doctor's justification for not going back to Susan. It makes sense on its own, but takes on a whole new meaning in light of what happens in Big Finish (even if you do need to slightly nudge the meaning to make sense, and admittedly it still clashes with her participation in the Time War).
The Time Window and Misdirections:
Slightly put off at 'time window' being used as terminology for UNIT's tech when that's been used for actual time portals in-universe before.
Liked all the mentions of chronons though. Need to combine that and "N-dimensional time" into an actual pseudoscientific theory of time physics in Doctor Who with artron energy etc.
The Time Window is also totally how we get the Memory TARDIS, right? I'm guessing that's why the Doctor sent Ruby there, so she can escape into it (though I don't know what that will look like given Tales of the TARDIS surely won't be essential viewing). I wonder if that means the Doctor we'll see in that won't be the real one?
Super sneaky making the time window the 'secret from the Third Doctor era' that is revealed that was teased. Not a lie, but really teases something different to what we got.
Actually, in general kinda mixed feelings about the sheer level of misdirection is this story. You've got the above, all the focus on Susan, maybe the 'Beast', literally playing the Saxon theme (The Master Vainglorious). Seemingly also the thing about where people were stood on Christmas Eve… though I am going to check to see if there's something about the TARDIS / Sutekh. That being said, I'm guessing we're coming back to this, as the pointing isn't really explained yet.
RTD also said the script opened "INT. COFFEE BAR, USA - DAY, 1947" but we clearly never got such a scene. :/
On the other hand, all the playing around and subversion with anagrams was a lot of fun. Very much riffing off of DW tropes. Very funny also that UNIT would immediately pick up on the S Triad thing, given their and the Doctor's history with the Master's own aliases.
Sutekh and the Pantheon
Super intrigued by everything regarding the Pantheon in this episode. So we've got members:
Sutekh: God of Death. The Oldest One / The One Who Waits, the Mother and Father and Other of them all. The Toymaker: God of Games. The Trickster: God of Traps. Maestro: God of Music Reprobate: God of Spite. The Mara: God of Beasts. The Three-Fold Deity of Malice, Mischief, and Misery. Gods of Skin, Shame, Secrets Incensor: Gold of Disaster Incensor's Children - Doubt and Dread. Harbinger(s)
I'm probably too EU-brained, but it feels crazy putting entities like the Toymaker and the Trickster below Sutekh? They're both Eternal/Guardian level, while Sutekh is just an Osiran, powerful but ultimately ephermal. How is he 'the oldest' and the 'mother/father/other' of them all? I guess age could be partially put down to Sutekh's fate in Pyramids of Mars, but actually originating before them doesn't really make sense. I guess he could be an incarnation of a much older being, a bit like the Doctor could be?
However, I also doubt Harbinger is entirely reliable. She's clearly hyping up Sutekh's dominion, so him being the 'god of gods' may not mean much in terms of their origin.
Speaking of which... a lot of allusions to the Devil here, as I mentioned above. Chidozie finds himself in 'hell' and Carla literally calls the shape in the Time Window "the Beast". The security camera is also 66m away (funnily enough, around 73 yards). Add in Gabriel Woolf also playing the Beast in series 2, and you really do have to wonder if there's a connection. If Sutekh and the other Gods really do see him as the same entity as the Beast, then maybe he really could be the oldest of them all.
Side note: "Mother, Father and Other of them all" is great. Connecting the word 'Other' to parentage is also interesting, given we've been talking about Susan...
Going back to the Pantheon - I am now 100% convinced, after theorising before, that we've been meeting members of the Pantheon of Discord.
While there are family connections between some of them, I doubt they really are all related. They're way too distinct for that. But as a loose coalition of malicious god-like beings across the multiverse, it works. Weirdly, it is also reminiscent of some plotlines from the Tenth Doctor Titan Comics. It also feels like the direct opposite of the 'Accord' from the Leftbridge-Stewart series, which was seemingly another coalition of more benevolent deities, including the Azure Guardian. I wonder if they oppose each other?
Some of the namedrops are super interesting too. As I mentioned in my live blog, the Three-Fold deity must be connected to the Six-Fold God, even if just an imitation. Some of the names (eg. Doubt and Dread), being directly named for concepts and emotions, also brings to mind the Menti Celesti.
I also strongly suspect we're going to meet the Trickster again. RTD even foreshadowed as much when he illustrated Now We Are Six Hundred.
Big question is... when did Sutekh become connected to the TARDIS? The latest it could have happened is Wild Blue Yonder, and that would be the simplest explanation... but dialogue implies he's been attached and waiting for longer.
Again, mentioned this in my live notes, but the connection of Sutekh hiding in the "Howling Void" and appearing on UNIT scanners with contradictory information like the Dalek Void ship is an excellent connection. Especially, again, with the possible Hell connection:
RAJESH: And what's the Void? DOCTOR: The space between dimensions. There's all sorts of realities around us, different dimensions, billions of parallel universes all stacked up against each other. The Void is the space in between, containing absolutely nothing. Imagine that. Nothing. No light, no dark, no up, no down, no life, no time. Without end. My people called it the Void. The Eternals call it the Howling. But some people call it Hell.
Does this imply he attached himself to the TARDIS while it traveled through the Void? If so... when was that? Again Wild Blue Yonder is a good candidate, as the TARDIS literally reaches the edge of the universe (at least in some sort of spacetime geometry), but this could technically harken back as far as Journey's End, when the TARDIS last visited Pete's World.
A bit of me is intrigued by the description of Sutekh "whispering, delighting and seducing" the TARDIS, but nothing else indicates the TARDIS was willingly carrying him. Again another sign that Harbinger's speech may not reliable.
Remaining Mysteries
No offence to the people who were all in on the theory, of course, but I'm pretty sure the 'TV' theory is nothing. Especially after this episode. I feel like people latched onto the promo shot for this episode which looked like a TV set and confirmation bias took on from there. That being said, I am ready to eat my words if it somehow comes back to that next week!
(TBF, the TV theory obviously does have some relevance to DW in general, what with the Weeping Angels, Doctor Who exisiting in-universe, fourth wall breaks etc. I just don't think it ever had anything to do with this story.)
So Mrs Flood is confirmed to be something alien or supernatural, after the ambiguity with the Christmas 4th wall break. Simplest answer is that she's also serving Sutekh / the Pantheon, but IDK... she seems different.
Still need to know what's up with Ruby's mum too. Annoyingly, the episode makes it kinda ambiguous if she was pointing at the past Doctor (as per the flashback earlier this series) or at the present one. If the prior, I assume she was actually pointing at the TARDIS / Sutekh?
That damn "worlds with orange skies" line. It's probably nothing, right? But why did we focus on it, complete with musical sting. RTD knows that's significant. Hell, it's specifically significant to Susan, with her talking about Gallifrey in The Sensorites, and Ten recalling it in Gridlock.
Also, unless the soundtrack was lying to us, which it doesn't usually (though I guess isn't unprecendented, with the Weeping Angel theme being used in Day of the Doctor when Osgood realises the statues are disguised Zygons), maybe a Master reveal coming up some point in the future? How though, I have no idea.

Charlie Spring, An Appreciation: Part 3, Cool
Charles Francis Spring is epically cool, and no, I won't be taking questions. Yes, Nick is undeniably awesome, and he's popular, and he's the rugby king, but Charlie is by no means outclassed here. It's even stated (by some of the rugby lads, no less) in the first comic that Charlie is generally liked wherever he goes and fits in with everyone. So let's take a stroll through the many ways Charlie embodies cool--all, it must be noted, while being his authentic self.
We'll go for the obvious first: our guy plays the drums, which has been synonymous with coolness basically since time began. And Nick agrees, so there's no point denying it. [Side note: I really wish we got to see more of Charlie playing for fun in the show. Other than when he's trying to teach Nick to play and preparing for the spring concert, we only see him play when he's upset about something. And only once in S2, which is criminal. Can't wait for that festival gig in S3.]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If musical talent isn't enough, we've got Charlie's academic prowess. Sure, this could class him as a "nerd," but really, I think we all know this just means he's all-around brilliant. Not to mention that he's maintained his high academic standards (with the exception of that history coursework, and who could blame him) throughout some really challenging life experiences. I mean, look at Nick's I-know-the-answer-to-this-question-because-my-super-smart-boyfriend-helped-me-revise face. That's all you need to know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's well established that Charlie is a "super fast" runner, so he also has physical accomplishments we can add to the list. But let's talk about rugby, because as we all know, this is not something that comes naturally or easily to Charlie. And yet. He attacks it, learns it, and ultimately succeeds. Will he ever be a rugby king? No, but the fact that he manages to go from a complete novice to a competent, productive part of the team reveals yet another facet of his determination and tenacity. And I challenge anyone who doubts Charlie to watch this little moment (with Flor's pitch-perfect "Heart" playing in the background) and still think this boy can't do anything he sets his mind to.
Tumblr media
Charlie may not be the rugby king, but he is indisputably the Mario Kart king. Honestly not sure why anyone bothers challenging him anymore. That throne cannot be toppled. 👑
Tumblr media
Charlie has a lot more self confidence than I think he's usually given credit for. He has periods of doubt, of course, but who doesn't? I love seeing these moments where his confidence is on display, whether they're big, consequential moments or quiet ones, because it shows that his past trauma hasn't completely overruled his sense of self. He knows his worth, and his strength, even if he occasionally forgets. Charlie is as strong as they come.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let us not overlook the fact that Charlie Spring is a huge, unapologetic (and very successful) flirt. And, I'd venture to argue, a little bit more of a smooth operator than even Nick. Even though he occasionally second-guesses himself, these flirty shenanigans reveal that Charlie has a core of confidence both in Nick's reciprocation of Charlie's feelings, but also in himself and his own desirability.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But really, all we needed to see to know Charlie is cool is this: epic jumper collection, ripped black skinny jeans, raglans, Nick's hoodies, plaids...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this:
Tumblr media
Your honor, I rest my case.

"hey y'all!! so today i'm doing a day in my life cause its been a while since i did one of those." i set my camera down on my vanity as i sat down to do my makeup.
i started doing my makeup as i talked about the things i had to do today. i was blending my foundation when the door to my room opened. i smiled as i looked at the camera.
"we have a special guest today ya'll!!" i said as i turned my camera towards paige as she waved at it.
"today im gonna be having my girlfriend join me today in todays vlog for the first time ever." i said with an exaggerated gasp.
once i finished my makeup i changed into my outfit as i gave the camera a full look at it.
"im wearing a shirt that i got from hot topic, i thrifted these jorts, and i'm wearing some black converse." i spoke to the camera not noticing the way paige was blatantly staring at me.
as i walked back up to my camera to pick it up i could see paige looking at me through my mirror, i turned around with a smile as i stared at her.
"do i have something on my face?" i asked with a raised eyebrow knowing shes probably been looking at me like that for a while.
"nah you just look.. really beautiful." she said looking at me admiring how i looked as i shook my head with a smile looking away from her a blush rising to my face.
"okay anyway, today is gonna be a sort of chill day, i just have a few errands to run not to much like last time." i said talking to my camera as paige and i walked to her car.
i set down my camera in front of me as i got inside the car.
"alright ill see ya'll when we get to target bye!!" i said as i shut off the camera buckling in and storing the camera in my bag.
"when you're about to post the video tell me so i can be the first one to watch and like it." i turned my head towards paige with a smile on my face.
paige has always supported my youtube career since we started dating. everyday im thankful i have someone that actually supports me.
"don't worry i will, ill watch it with you too, i heard theres gonna be a cute blonde in the video." i said with a grin as i could see a smirk start to form on her face.
"oh yeah? guess we'll have to watch it then, heard that this really pretty girl is doing a day in the life vlog." she stated as she kept her eyes on the road.
my eyes were completely focused on her though, the way her eyes focus on the road, the way her eyebrows slightly furrow when shes concentrating.
gosh shes perfect. i don't know what i did to deserve someone like her but in glad i did it.
i really am the luckiest girl aren't i. i kept on staring at her as if shes the last thing i was ever gonna look at. after about five minutes i finally spoke up.
"i'm the luckiest girl, with a girl like you." i said catching paige off guard as i saw her blush.
i can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her. the love of my life.

After the game baby - part 1
Tumblr media
This is Part 1, here is Part 2.
Summary: Lucy Bronze and Ona batlle are in love. They are having a great time but then Lucy doesnt think Ona is competetive enough and thinks of a way to fix that.
(Warning: first thing i wrote ever, was inspired by the other people that write these fics, note: english is not my first language. Feel free to correct/feedback me!)
After the game baby - part 1/4 (18+)
It was matchday -2.
After training they had another meeting off analysing. Jonatan was a bit more serious than usually. Lucy and Ona chose to not sit next too eachother, wanting to focus on the information that was coming.
Jonatan said that theyd had seen a significant difference between morning games and the usual night time games. This next game would be played at 10am, "so," said Jona in spanish, "i need you all, to just go to bed early today and tomorrow, we can take them easeally, but we want a lot off goals, the goal is atleast 10 goals." "So we cant have sleepy heads on the field"
Everyone in the boarding room laughed, the staff because it was usual for them, always having to start early to put everything up for the players, before theyd arrive for training. The players more so laughed at eachother, at Lucy and a few other players who were known for not being morning persons at all.
The meeting was ended and the players went further with their individual sceduals. Mapi and a few otherz went to the weight room, "u coming too Bronzey?" Mapi aked.
"Nah sorry, i have to meet up with physio, probably will go after that for a bit" anwsered Lucy
"Ofcourse you will" laughed Patri who came from behind and pushed Mapi in the direction off the gym "we'll be long gone then, we dont live in there" "unlike some" Mapi laughed with her.
Lucy shook her head , then felt a shoulder against her own "hey" said Ona.
"Hi baby"
"I have physio too, theyre gonna massage my neck, i swear all these headers made my neck 55years older"
"Aw, i know Ona" said Lucy whilst grabbing Ona's neck and kneeding it with her fingers.
Ona relaxed into the touch and whimpered.
Lucy smirked, Ona shouldve known the images running trough her mind right now.
Walking to the physios office on the other side of the facility, Lucy had recollected herself again. They ended the conversation they were having, needing to go to different physios. "Okay ill see you at home again then" said Ona, "then ill take the dogs out, cause ill be home earlier" Lucy nodded and went in to give Ona a quick kiss. They broke their kiss and Ona said "dont stay out in that gym too long Luce, the dogs and I dont want to wait 3,5 hours again!" The last bit came out half jokingly but Lucy knew it was true, she just lost track of time when she was exercizing. Lucy went in for one more kiss and said "i'll wont make it too late, you heard Jonas, we have to get to bed early" Ona pushed Lucy away knowing Lucy wasnt gonna stop with her stupid flirty jokes if she laughed to much about them and went to her physio.
_______________________________________
Matchday -1
They had trained today at the same time the match would be tomorrow. Lucy had been actually pretty allright, Ona and her were kind off tired last night, so after they'd eaten and watched a movie, Ona had gotten into bed. Whilest Lucy went on one more quick stroll with the dogs. The supposed quick walk had became a walk of 65 minutes eventually so when she came back she just brushed her teeth and quietly stepped in to bed with an allready sleeping Ona.
Now it was noon, the team ate togheter after their morning training. After the late lunch, the team were allowed to go home for their siesta time, only a few players that needed some injury therapy stayed at the training ground.
Lucy and Ona drove home, or at least to Lucys appartement, but they were basicly living together. Coco and Narla loved being home alone togheter, as Lucy could see them cuddled up togheter true her doggy cam on her phone. And her appartement was a little bigger and closer to the training ground aswell.
Ona put her hand on Lucy's thigh, Lucy smiled and put hers on Ona's thigh. "I love you" ona smiled " i love you too".
They pulled in to the parking garage.

May your Heart be your Guiding Star.
A-Side: Chapter 1
"Hey, Sif, Siffrin, Siffarooni."
(. . . It's Isabeau.)
(It's always Isabeau. Every night, it's Isabeau who wakes you up to tell you nothing much at all. But, the script demands it, you turn and listen.)
"Um, sorry? To wake you up? I just have to tell you something. If that's ok."
(It's not like you had a choice anyway. You nod. Go on, Isabeau.)
"Then I shall tell you this thing! This thing I woke you up to tell you-"
(You zone out. You don't know why you decided to go through the sleepover again, was it selfishness? You were selfish, Siffrin. It just wasted time, and it just hurt your heart.)
(How long had it been? You were loosing track of your loops, was it months? Years? You hope it wasn't years. How much would you need to go through before it's all done?)
(You keep zoning out thru when Bonnie throws their pillow. This part was funny, once. The banter between your family, the ominous threatening, Isabeaus smile-)
(You snap out of zoning out. You hear thunder.)
"Woah." (Mira says in a whisper.) "M-must be close. . ."
"Stupid crabbing thunder! We're trying to sleep!- Huh? 'Frin?"
(You had stood up. What. What what what. There was never thunder at this time! Never, never never!! You rushed to a window to look out.)
Tumblr media
(It was storming, storming like it never had before.)
"What's up, Sif?" (Isa asks, concerned.) "Worried about the town?"
"Something's wrong." (You say, your breathing picking up.) "I-I, uh, I don't know but-"
[STARDUST]
(You wince, Loop?!? Loop what's- wait. You make the stupid hand sign Loop taught you, ignoring your family's looks of confusion.)
"Loop what's-"
[STARDUST, GET YOUR PARTY AND WAKE UP!! GET RUNNING!!!]
"I-I don't-"
[THE WORLD! IS! ENDING!!]
>>>
"Gems alive."
(You all rushed out of the clocktower, dressed and ready for anything. Your heart was beating our of your chest, what was going on?!? Was Loop ok?!?)
(The sky was cloudy and lightless, a level of lightless you'd never seen before! This, this couldn't be the end, right-)
"AAH!!" (Mirabelle shrieked.) "A S-SADNESS!!"
(You watch in confusion as a shadowy creature rises from the ground itself. It had antenae, sharp claws, and light-grey eyes. It's, what is that?!?)
"Weird looking sadness!" (Bonnie yells.)
(Odile analyses the enemy.) "It's not like any we've seen-"
(It lungest at your party, you move quickly and slice it in two, and it dissolves into shadow. It didn't feel like a sadness, it, it's wrong. You turn back to your family.) "Can't waste time! C'mon!"
"R-right!! We need to save the townsfolk!!" (Mirabelle agrees, everyone quickly following you to Dormont.)
(A hop, skip, and a jump and you were all back into town. Everyone was running about, more of those creatures were forming from the Darkness and attacking!! You run ahead and swipe at one that was about to hurt the frog-loving kid.)
"T-thank..." (They say meekly.)
(Mirabelle catches up with you, and addresses the kid.) "Go run to the library! We'll make sure everyone gets there, ok?"
(The kid nods, and runs off. Mirabelle turns to the rest of you.) "W-we, we should, we should make sure everyones safe, right? That was the right call, right???"
"It's a good call!! I'll help gather people!!" (Isa agrees.)
"Right, I'll make sure the Library's safe. Boniface, stick with me, please." (Odile adds.)
"Can I bonk one of those weird things???" (Bonnie says a bit too excitedly.)
"N-not now, Bonnie! Siffrin, can you help get people??" (Mira asks you. Was there any question?)
"Of course, I'll be fast about it, as always~" (You say cheekily.)
(You all split up, Mira, youself, and Isabeau looking for people to save. Odile and Bonnie to keep the Library safe.)
(You need to go see Loop.)
(You run through the town, striking at creature after creature, but with each one you slay two more take it's place!! You run past the Boulanger's, before you can stop it, one of the creatures strikes down the Big Boulanger. All you can do is slay the creature that did the deed, and tell the small Boulanger to run.)
(You run to the Favor tree. Loop's there, fighting off multiple creatures at once. You rush to help.)
(You strike at the creatures.) "LOOP!!! LOOP WHAT'S GOING ON?!?"
"STARDUST!!!" (Loop crushes a creature with a hand.) "What are you doing here!?! I told you to run!!!"
"I-I was worried about you!! We need to, t-to-"
"To WHAT, Stardust!!" (Loop snaps back.) "Can't you see!! The world is ending!!"
(You take towards them.) "L-Loop, Loop c'mon! Mirabelle is getting everyone together at the Library and-"
"What you want ME to be there?!?" (Loop laughs.) "Little old me at the END?!?"
"I-I-" (End of the world. It, it certainly felt like the end of the world. You could feel the earth rumbling, the storm getting worse.) "I, no!! I'm not arguing!! Come on!!!"
(You grab Loop by the arm and start dragging them, they don't resist-)
(-CRACK-)
(You trip, what?!? What was that noise?!? You turn around and, a-and.)
(The world was, litteralt falling apart. Breaking, Falling, Rotting. The land where you were standing and where Loop was standing were slowly drifting apart, Loops side was crumbling into bits. Looking around, looking down, it looks like, like stars. Like void.)
"LOOP!!" (You yell for your friend.) "LOOP MAYBE, M-MAYBE-"
(You watch as horror as the ground they're standing on crumbles into nothing. Your friend, your sponsor, your star, falls into the abyss that's forming all around you.)
(No, no no no no, no that, that, that can't be right, right? That, that can't be it?!? You quickly make the hand sign. You call for Loop.)
(You don't hear anything.)
(. . . . .)
(Keep it together Keep it together Keep it together Keep it together Keep it together Keep it together Keep it together-)
(You run back to Dormont. It's worse, it's so much worse here. Cracks where forming everywhere, the land was falling into nothingness. There where creatures everywhere. You could see Odile at the library door helping people in. Mirabelle stood at the foot of the Change God statue, fighting off waves of creatures, you run to help.)
"M-Mira!!"
"Sif!!!" (She yells, slicing a creature in two.) "W-what-"
"No time!! Where's Isabeau?!?" (You start hacking away at the dark creatures.)
"I-I don't know!! I thought, I thought he was with you!"
(Your heart drops, no, no not Isabeau. Stars, stars please not Isabeau too! No, this can't be happening. This, this is a nightmare!! A terrible, terrible nightmare that--)
(You feel a sharp pain in your side, a creature sliced you. No, no this isn't a nightmare.)
"S-Sif!!" (Mira runs over to you, healing at the ready.) "I-I'm sorry! I-I'm really, really sorry!!! I don't know, know, know where-"
(-CRACK-)
(You and Mirabelle turn, the piece of land with the Library had broken off from where you were. Odile was looking at you in horror, Bonnie was holding onto her leg for dear life.)
"M-MADAME!!!" (Mira screemed.)
"W-WE'LL BE ALRIGHT!!" (Odile yells.) "I'LL BE SURE OF IT!! WE'LL BE ALRIGHT!!!"
(No, no no no. You can see it already, the cracks were forming on their little island. You, you couldn't watch, you look away.)
(Mirabelles screams were all you needed to hear.)
(This can't be real. This can't be real This can't be real Loop back Loop back Loop back Loop back Loop back Loop back Loop back WHY AREN'T YOU LOOPING BACK!!!)
(Your stomach hurts.)
(Mirabelle collapses to the ground next to you, she's sobbing. You, you should, at least, try, try anything, anything anything anything!!)
(None of this was in the script.)
"M-Mira. . ." (You very, gently put a hand on her shoulder. Why, why did YOU need to be the stable one here!!) "I'm, I'm here, they'll, they'll be-"
"S-siffrin. . ." (She's, distraught.) "We, w-we've failed. We failed didn't we!! We failed and, a-and, a-and everything ending, and, it's all, all my fault!!"
"N-no! No we, we still, might have a chance, i-if-" (If you can go through a house that's currently crumbling into bits and beat the King? Not likely. Admit it, siffrin. You lost.)
(You scream as you feel a pain on your back. A creature had snuck up on you and struck you. You collapse to your knees, it hurt, it hurt so much-)
(You hear a swish, and a. . . Sparkle? Singing? And a gasp from Mirabelle. You look up.)
Tumblr media
(Mirabelle had struck the creature that had attacked you, but, now in her hands was a weapon you'd never seen before. It was sleek and thin like a rapier, with thin strans of what looks like hair leading from it's tip to the wrist guard. As she swung it around to get a feel for the strange weapon, you could hear it sing, or talk, or just, make noise.)
"W-what is. . ." (She's as confused as you.) "I-it, it. . ."
"It's a gift, I bet." (You say, trying desperatly to lighten the mood. It was just the two of you here after all.) "What is it?"
"I-I, I don't know." (She swings it a few more times. It sings some more- actually, no! You could make out some of the things it's singing, or saying. "Storstorageroomroom." "Openphrase123." What? Mirabelle helped you to your feet.) "It, it feels strong though. And it reminds me of a violin, look! Horse hair!"
(Oh! Right! That's what you used to make musical instruments, right- WAIT NO TIME!!) "Maybe we can fix this! O-or-
(-CRACK-)
(For the third time you heared that sickening noise, this time, from above you. You and Mirabelle look up, your face drops.)
(It was a dark creature, one that was so, so much larger. It looked, looked like a nightmare.)
"Change. . ." (Mirabelle gripped her new weapon tightly as the thing landed on the ground in front of you. It was multiple stories tall, with evil looking eyes.) "S-siffrin, what, w-what do we do?!?"
"Fight." (You say, gripping your dagger close.) "It's, it's all we can do."
(You charge forward.)
(Balls of lightless mist erupted from the creatures chest, you dodged them effortlessly and striked its body. Once, twice three time!! You were sick of these blinding creatures!!! Just die!!!)
([Just attack])
"S-sif!!" (Mirabelle deflected one of the lightless balls with her new weapon, catching up and striking the creature.) "B-be careful! Please!!"
(You ignore her, stab! Stab! Stab stab stab!!!)
(The creature knocks you away like you were nothing. You fly back, right past the edge of the land you were fighting on. You stab the ground frantically to stop yourself from falling into the abyss bellow. No, nononono!)
"S-siffrin!!!" (Mirabelle started running to you, but was cut off by the creature.) "Sif!! Hold on I-I-"
(You try pulling yourself up. Don't look down, don't look down Siffrin. Just, just don't, don't. Look.)
(-CRACK-)
(Your heart stops.)
"SIFFRIN!!! NO!!!!!"
(Your falling. Everything, everythings turning dark. The world, the world is gone, being eaten, eaten by. . .)
(You feel a tug on your stomach.)
(You wretch. Nothing happens. You feel a tug, nothing happens. Again, again, again!!! You're breaking, you're falling, you're, you're-)
(You're going to die.)
(This is it. The theater has burned down, with all the actors still inside.)
(You close your eyes. You hope you your death comes quick.)

age 22 // medical intern
25th March
Munich, Germany

It was way past midnight when Cassandra finally managed catching a break. Her one obligatory night shift had only started a little over three hours ago, but attending physicians from the previous shifts had passed their patients to the night shift, half of the senior doctors were at a national conference and her supervisor was running around and taking care of everything - which meant Cassandra, as one of her interns, was also running around and taking care of everything she could.
After documenting and assisting at a catheterization and an intubation done by one of the attending seniors, she finally found her first free five minutes.
Stepping out into the fresh night air, she leaned her arms on the railing of the ER entrance. Tying her coppery curls into a ponytail before fiddling out a protein bar from the pocket of her blue scrubs. Having to suppress a moan when taking a bite from it.
The night at the hospital was rather tranquil, at least compared to the workload during daytime, and she had time to go back to her paper work.
So much paper work..
It was her own fault, though, volunteering to assist her supervisor in a presentation about pulmonalis purpura but she needed these bonus points. Extra tasks like these always earned them bonus points, credits and also looked great on a CV after graduation.
With a sigh, she unwrapped the last piece of the protein bar when muffled voices disrupted the peaceful silence, coming from the direction of the parking lot.
Her eyes tried to find the source when spotting two young men with a third one between them, his arms draped around their shoulders as they carried him towards the entrance. And her eyes shot open when realising the one in the middle was beinf practically dragged, seemingly unconscious.
Stuffing the rest of the bar into her mouth and shoving the wrapper into her pocket, her instinct kicked in, despite being still in training, and she rushed towards them. Immediatelly spotting the dark liquid on the side of the guy's face from up-close.
"What happened?" she asked after swallowing the rest of her midnight snack.
The other young men struggled to answer and she decided to press one more time.
"There was a.. minor explosion. Something hit his head," one of them finally answered and she nodded. A possible concussion, she concluded. "Ok, we'll take care. I'll call the attending phy-"
"No!" the other, rounder-faced guy exclaimed with evident panic in his voice, taking her aback. The second guy quickly taking over with an uneasy smile.
"Look, Doc, we'd prefer if that stayed between us. You see.." He chuckled lightly, his lips curving into a smile that could convince anyone to anything. And Cassandra's guard went down for a second. "..people are looking for us. Not that nice people." His eyes giving her a look of appeal. "So we'd appreciate it if you took care of our friend in.. let's say, secret."
She folded her arms then in an attempt to look confident, when really all she felt was nervous. If she understood the signs correctly, these guys knew the hospital stuff had to inform police about a potential explosion-injury and they clearly didn't want that. Meaning something was off about them.
They might be looking quite young, around her age or a bit older with way too friendly looking faces to be mobsters, but you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
She was afraid of them trying to intimidate her in some way. The pure possibility making her heart anxiously beating faster.
Much to her surprise, however, their expressions softened instead and genuine concern was written all over their flustered faces.
"Please, don't inform the cops about our friend."
He wasn't demanding it, he was asking or rather pleading for it. And frankly, Cassandra hadn't expected that.
Clenching her jaw, she swallowed.
It wasn't a warning her gut sent her. No, it wasn't trying warning her of potential danger. And yet, she could tell they still were trouble. That she was sure of.
However, their request went beyond her responsibility. She was a mere intern. She knew she should persist onto calling one of the attending doctors. Or even an assistant one. Or at least a nurse. Literally anyone with an actual medical license.
Her eyes fell onto the unconscious one of the three then. And the fresh blood gracing his temple and cheek under the fringe that was covering his closed eyes. He definitely couldn't wait any longer for medical attention. Who knew how long he d been unconscious. The longer they waited, the severer the potential damage.
"If I don't accept you'll try at another hospital, right?"
"Most likely," his friend replied with a bashful, almost apologetic smile.
Exhaling deeply, she released her arms and let them fall onto her sides. "Alright, but if it's something I can't handle you will let me call for additional medical stuff."
"We-"
"That's non-negotiable. Otherwise good luck trying finding another idiot like me who's willing to help you. And while driving around town to look for one, your friend might bleed out or worse."
She was exaggarrating of course, even with no license yet, she could tell it was probably just a mere concussion and laceration with no actual threat of bleeding out. Although the unconsciousness was worrisome. So she bluffed in hopes they'd agree.
And seeing them exchanging an uncertain look, it looked like it worked.
The one with the charming smile glanced at their friend who they were propping up, feeling his weight growing heavier by the minute.
"Tough negotiation but okay."
Content and a little proud of herself, she nodded and started walking towards the emergency room entrance. Waving them over her shoulder. "Let me check if the coast's clear."
With an uneasy feeling, she went inside. Seeing no one but a man with an icepack on his shoulder in the waiting area. He was facing the wall, back turned towards the entrance. Meanwhile, the nurse on duty was currently nowhere in sight, missing from her position behind the glass of the counter. Having probably gone to the restroom or to get something.
Cassandra huffed internally. Not understanding why there weren't two people on duty in case someone with a serious emergency came in and wouldn't find anyone. But right now it was practical in her case, so she didn't complain about the buget cutbacks.
Giving the waiting guys a sign, they quickly followed her in. Passing by the man who didn't really pay attention anyway, preoccupied by his own injury, and hushed past the counter and through the double door.
She led them to one of the currently empty exam rooms, watching them carrying the unconscious man to the examination table. And she pulled out her small flashlight, opening his eyelids to check the pupil's reaction.
Normal, thankfully.
No indication for increased cranial pressure. So far medical stuff wasn't needed. Or well, they would be but not necessary yet, since these guys wanted to go undocumented.
She untangled her stethoscope then, making sure his cardiac cycle was normal as well.
The patient was stable, but still unconscious.
She couldn't, however, perform a CT scan, MRI or any other medical test - neither had she learned how nor was she qualified yet. So she decided to proceed with trying to make him gain consciousness. And if he didn't react, then she'd persist in calling an actual physician.
Remembering her training so far, next in line was inducing different stimuli like tactile. So she began applying light pressure to his face like the eyebrow bone or the jaw joint to cause adequate discomfort. Observing his features turning into a grimace of annoyance, indicating he felt the pressure. Good. She firmly pressed his knuckles up and down the sternum then, his fingers contracting.
"What's his name?" Her sudden question pulling the other two out of their absentmindness while watching her perform.
"Huh?"
"His name. Start speaking to him for verbal stimulus to help him gain conscience."
Seemingly hesistant first, the silent one with the rounder face and smaller eyes spoke up then. "Taehyung. It's Taehyung."
"Taehyung," she repeated firmly, tapping Taehyung's cheek just the right amount of harsh to ensure he felt it for a noxious stimulus, "Can you hear me?"
His head moved away from her touch, the expression on his face shifting to a frown when a whine of pain left his lips. "Hey, come on, wake up. Your friends here are worried!"
She was about to give his cheek another light slap, when she got stopped mid-air by his hand gripping her wrist firmly.
His eyes shot open then. And a pair of mesmerizing dark irises suddenly stared back at hers, causing Cassandra to freeze.
She knew it was medically impossible to knock someone's breath out of their lungs. And yet, in this moment she wondered if it was possible to develop at least a sudden dyspnea - a shortness of breath - without any prior cause or trauma at all, just by locking gazes with someone.
Their eyes were of similar colour, it was the first thing he noted. The very first thought that crossed his mind. The same deep brown shade as his own, and yet so very different. He didn't think ever seeing more beautiful warm brown eyes than hers before. As though he was looking at her through the sight of a sniper rifle, zoomed in all the way, the world pausing for that tiny span of time between the pressing and release of the trigger.
They held each other's gaze for a second longer, until the sense of his throbbing head caught him out and he had to screw his eyes back shut from the pain. Letting go of her wrist.
At this, Cassandra blinked and took a step back, her blank mind slowly getting flooded with thoughts again.
His friend approached then, giving Taehyung a gentle squeeze on the shoulder. "Hey man, you hear us?"
With a scrunching face, a light groan escaped his lips. "Yoongi?"
"And Jimin!" the other one chirped in, shoving Yoongi away in excitement, "You're awake!"
Another groan followed.
The young men started talking energetically, relieved and happy seeing their friend having gained his consciousness again, not noticing Cassandra standing there. For some reason unable averting her eyes from Taehyung.
She had been so focused on making him gain consciousness again without screwing up, she hadn't paid attention to anything else. But ever since seeing his wide almond eyes, something had shifted. And she felt herself breathing irregularly.
Blinking her eyes repeatedly, she forced herself to eventually look away and re-focus on his treatment.
Patient was conscious again, that was good. This meant she could pay attention to the source of the blood now.
"Would you step back and let me check his wound?" she quietly asked then. Jimin and Yoongi immediately obeying and giving her space. Taehyung blinked an eye open through the throbbing when hearing her voice.
"How do you feel? Are you fully awake now?" she carefully asked him then, avoiding his eyes the best she could while inspecting the cut at his hairline.
"Yeah.. but I wished I wasn't. My head is.. aching pretty badly."
"That's normal." She couldn't legally give him anything but Ibuprofen 400, perhaps there was some in one of the cabinets. She'd check later. Right now some other things were more important. "Do you remember anything? I mean, do you know your name, age and what happened?"
"You're asking if I got amnesia? I don't," he said with a hollow laugh. Eyes closing shut again.
She hummed, grabbing a pair of disposible gloves from the counter. "Where am I though?"
"The hospital," Jimin explained with a sigh of disapproval. "You didn't leave us much of a choice, man. You were unconscious and had blood on your face. Like.. damn. For a second I was actually scared."
Taehyung snickered tiredly at his friend's whining, attempting to prop himself up when Yoongi pushed him back down. "Just lay down for a moment, you were out of it for quite some time."
Pushing his hand away when his face contorted due to another wave of pain. "I'm fine, don't worry."
"You don't look like that though."
"Listen to your friend." Cassandra's stern voice making him perk up. "And besides, you probably need some stitches first."
"And you are..?"
"Cassandra," she said unfazed while holding up a sterilized needle. Motioning to the other two who had huddled over him in the short moment she prepared her stitching utensils, "Now, if you could move, please."
"No offence but.. how old are you?" Yoongi asked then with sharp eyes narrowing at her. He had noticed her young-looking face before as well, but he hadn't cared much back then considering Taehyung's condition. Now, however, she was holding a needle in her hands, about to patch up his younger friend.
The crease between her brows deepened. "Turning twenty-three soon, why?"
"Are you even a doctor?"
She straightened herself as she took a few steps closer to the actual patient among the three, the one on the bed with the laceration.
"Oh, now you suddenly care?" Her lips tucked into a sarcastic smirk aimed at him, seeing him fold his lips. "I am an intern - if you must know."
"So technically n-"
"God, Yoongi, who cares?" the injured one scowled, followed by a groan, "I'm dying here! Just let her do her thing already!"
"Aw, don't be so dramatic, you won't die," Jimin rolled his eyes. Launching for a pat on the shoulder before remembering Taehyung was in pain.
His attention turned to Cassandra then. It wasn't the first time she had to encounter overly noisy and worried relatives. With her signature smile that was more a habit of politeness, but which she genuinely felt like doing when seeing Jimin's friendly face, she nodded. Trying to reassure them that yes, he wouldn't die.
"I'll take care of it," she said then. The two standing guys exchanged a glance, looking down at their friend who was screwing shut his eyes.
"You sure you can handle that?" Yoongi asked, this time his voice holding genuine concern as he peeked down at Taehyung.
"Yeah, don't worry. My orange was the best stitched one, so I'm pretty confident," she waved them off.
Her proud announcement only earning her puzzled looks from them though. "Orange?"
She nodded with a wide grin. "Yeah, one of the senior surgeons showed us how to do stitches and we practiced on oranges. And mine was the best."
Yoongi couldn't help but look at her in disbelief. "Are you for rea-"
Not letting him complete his sentence, Jimin began pushing him aside. "We're gonna let you do your job now, don't worry." Cassandra didn't miss Yoongi suppressing a wince on his face, but she brushed it off in that moment. Letting out a breath.
"Don't mind them, they're noisy but mean no harm."
She turned around, facing her actual patient who was flashing her a weak smile before his face turned into a grimace once again. And she gave him an apologetic smile.
"Grit your teeth, okay? It'll sting."
He only inhaled deeply and nodded. Allowing her to clean the wound and apply an antisepticum, making him flinch as expected, before she got to work on the actual stitches. As she had done the first one, she cleared her throat. Peeking at him nervously. After all, this was the closest she'd ever been to him. And she also pitied him. Doing this without a local anaestheticum was most likely very uncomfortable.
"So.." she began and felt his smile on her.
"It's Taehyung-" He paused, she assumed because of the wound. Not noticing him nervously folding his lips.
"Yeah, I know," she smiled absentmindedly, focusing on stitching which was a whole lot more nerve-wrecking when two other pair of eyes were staring at her from above. Definitely didn't have that issue when it was only an orange. She huffed a laugh then, peeking at the two who quickly retreated to the far back. "Shouldn't you guys actually use pseudonyms in front of a stranger like me?"
"Oh, should we?" Taehyung weakly grinned.
She shrugged with a shippish smirk. "You clearly are on the run, considering your friends wouldn't let me inform anyone about you. Who knows, I might still get the cops.."
"Nah. You won't." He said it so matter-of-factly that it astonished her quite a lot, the faith he had in a stranger like her.
"Why not?"
Jimin appeared next to her all of a sudden and stooped down to tilt his head at her with his award-winning smile. "'Cause we trust you, so you wouldn't do it. Right?"
"Trusting a stranger, huh," she giggled more to herself than anything, focusing back on the stitches. "Isn't that quite naive?"
Unexpectedly, he laughed out at this, bemused instead of feeling offended.
"You must know," Yoongi spoke up then with a crooked grin, motioning his chin to Jimin, "He's pretty good in analysing and looking through people. So if he deems you trustworthy, you most likely are."
"He's right," Taehyung mumbled. Unable to add much more due to the additional stinging he felt from the needle, as if his headache wasn't enough.
In all honesty, if he had it his way, he'd have preferred lying to her.
Not that he wouldn't feel bad. She seemed nice after all, but she had a point. It was risky revealing real names. Not only for them but also for her.
And it was already bad enough Jimin and Yoongi had to bring him to the ER because he'd got injured like an amateur. Risking them getting caught because of his own mistake.
And her, an innocent bystander, knowing would probably cause more trouble. However, he also understood why they had to let her in to some degree. Right now, they depended on her help after all.
Cassandra only gave him a brief glance and hummed before quietly continuing the stitches.
She tried being trustworthy, but did she also look so trustworthy for strangers to include her in their secrets? Did she perhaps seem too trustworthy?
"You're an intern. So.. a student, huh?" he began then in an attempt to distract her mind in case it was still lingering over the cause of his injury.
"Yup, doing one of my internships right now," she explained, not minding the little exchange.
Frankly, she hadn't chosen that path for the prestige or money. She was one of the few ones in her year who genuinely did it for helping people. And therefore, she didn't mind interacting and talking with patients. Especially not cute ones with big brown eyes and an endearing smile. Those were pretty rare, at least in her two months there. And someone with a potentially questionable lifestyle - considering he got involved in explosions and had 'not nice people' being after him on top of it? No, that definitely didn't happen every day.
The stitches were done and she cut the thread before applying an adhesive plaster on the wound. She got up then, about to remove the gloves when she caught a better view of the other two. Only now taking an actual closer look on them with her not being on alert anymore because of Taehyung. In the hospital lights and without any distractions, she saw they didn't look too good either. Clothes torn on the edges, abrasions and splashes of blood gracing their skin.
"Are you guys injured as well?"
They shook their heads.
"Nah, just some scratches," Jimin ensured her, while Yoongi remained quiet in his seat on the chair at the corner of the room. She eyed him suspiciously as she noticed he had been absentmindedly rubbing his right shoulder until he caught her narrowed eyes on him. Making him squint his eyes in irritation.
"Is something on my face?" he tried joking, his laugh quickly dropping when she stepped in front of him. Her face softened then and she shook her head.
"No, no.. just, would you be so nice and get me that box of gauze from the shelf up there? I'm too short to reach these shelves."
He followed the direction her finger pointed at and nodded, not questioning why she wouldn't ask Jimin who was already standing. Getting up instead to walk to said shelf. As his right arm stretched for the gauze, however, he abruptly stopped. Jaw clenching. He lowered the arm again slowly, only to face her with a forced smile.
"That one, yeah?"
She nodded. Her lips tucked into an innocent smile as she anticipated his next move. And he reached out again, but with his other arm this time instead.
Caught you.
"Here ya go- ouchh!" The box almost slipped from his grip as his muscles jerked away from her finger pressing onto his shoulder. Turning around, he came across her knowing look.
"You're also injured, aren't you?"
"Wh-"
Taehyung and Jimin's eyes grew wide when observing the scene. Understanding now how her request was on purpose. And yet, they remained confused on how she had actually noticed in such a short time.
"What? You're also injured?" Jimin questioned then with worried eyes, "Why didn't you say anything?"
"Am no- Ouch! Can you stop doing that?" Yoongi whined and stared bewildered at Cassandra as she had pressed it again.
"Just let her take a look already."
He only let out a quiet grump at Taehyung's suggestion. A look of defeat crossing his features then as he saw Cassandra's victorious smile. "Fine."
Unbuttoning his shirt, he pushed off the fabric to reveal the shoulder. The shirt was black so no one had noticed the dried blood from the lengthy cut.
"The fck."
"Why didn't you say anything?"
He gritted his teeth, looking away in shame. "It's nothing."
"That's not nothing," Cassandra huffed at his light description of an already inflamed puncture, shaking her head in disapproval as she prepared a new thread. Pushing him into taking a seat again. "I doubt that one was also caused by an explosion," she said as she began cleaning the wound and Yoongi avoided their concerned eyes.
"No, that one isn't from tonight. It's.. whatever. I was distracted for a second. That's all."
Truth was he'd got distracted over a backfire two days ago. He hadn't fully paid attention to his surroundings, something that never happened, and one of those jerks from a local gang had taken advantage of it. Mainly Yoongi's ego and pride felt bruised, if anything.
Finishing those stitches up as well, she pressed a tube of antibiotic gel into his chest, which he hesitantly accepted with a raised brow. And she finally removed the gloves.
"Next time you get stabbed you'll get immediate treatment, got it?" Her tone was stern and lecturing, remininiscent of a mother's and Yoongi had to stifle a chuckle. Biting back any sarcasm threatening to leave his lips and smiled at the shorter woman. "Sure, 'Doc'."
She nodded contently. Whether he genuinely meant it or not, she didn't care. Facing the other two then who had watched in amusement as their older friend got scolded.
After rummaging through the drawers, she managed finding a pack of nonprescriptive painkillers, which she handed to Taehyung as well. Receiving a bashful 'thank you' from them all.
"And no more explosions, alright?" Her voice softer now as she smirked. "Heard they're dangerous."
The three men exchanged a look then. And they grinned. "Explosion? Did we say that?"
Cassandra frowned, irritated by their grins. "Uh, yeah, you.."
"Are you sure we did?"
A look of appeal in their eyes as they tried emphasising Taehyung's question.
And her brows rose, beginning to understand. She pursed her lips, huffing out a laugh eventually.
Her pager went off then, her supervisor probably wondering where she had wandered off. Sighing, she slipped it back in.
"Whatever. You can stay here for a couple of hours to ensure your friend is completely fine, if you want. But just so you know, if any stuff members catch you here, you don't know me. Alright?"
"Never seen your pretty face before, got it," Jimin winked and she felt her cheeks heating at his unexpected compliment. She coughed then, straightening herself. "G-good."
Taehyung only groaned annoyed, before chunking down two pills from the pack. "Stop flirting with every woman and let her go already."
"Alright, alright, releasing you from your duty now," he chuckled, flashing her a smile, "Thank you again."
She reciprocated Jimin's smile and with that, she left the room after ensuring the corridors were empty and no one saw her.
As she made her way to the ground floor, she already laid out a perfect explanation in case someone did catch these guys and found out she, an intern, helped them without notifying any medical stuff or official documentation.
She'd simply say they threatened her. Yes, the perfect explanation why she had done it. There wasn't any other option left for her after all without facing severe consequences for her studies and future.
It wasn't too far from reality anyway. Sure, they hadn't actually threatened her. But they could've, in case they were petty-criminals or worse.
Shaking her head, she laughed at her paranoid self. Realising it wasn't like she'd done something ethically or morally bad by treating them. Sure, she hadn't graduated yet but as an aspiring doctor she also honoured the principles of medical confidentiality and non-maleficence.
With a deep breath, she calmed her rising anxiety before entering the staff room where her supervisor had called her to. Reminding herself that even if everything came crushing down, she was just an intern with no legal responsibilities.
Thankfully the reason her supervisor had called was to assign Cassandra to another task. To keep an eye on an operated patient who needed to be checked every few hours and notify her if needed.
So the young medical student made her way back to the elevator across the entrance area to head to the patient's floor, looking forward to the rest of her night being uneventful. Her eyes catching three men standing at the reception then.
Their attire sparkling her interest more than anything as it was the opposite of how the three lads downstairs at the ER looked like. Long coats over what seemed to be suits, neatly combed back hair and their tone serious as they spoke in a hushed voice to the receptionist.
Not paying any more attention, she headed to the vending machine, deciding to get a chocolate bar first for some extra energy when the men left through the double doors behind the reception. Her eyes narrowed while following their hasty steps. Perhaps she was just high off the adrenaline of doing something basically illigal, but without hesitation and a lot of curiosity she walked up to the receptionist.
"Who were they? They look important."
The receptionist, a woman in her early thirties, glanced around as if to make sure no one would eavesdrop before she bent over with a bored expression.
"Cops or something. I didn't quite understand, to be honest."
Cassandra's heartbeat dropped at this. "C-cops?"
"I don't know, yes and no? They said something about interpol."
Fck. She tried her best not to let the woman notice her panic. "What would they want here?"
The woman leaned back into her chair. "They're looking for some criminal, I guess. Were asking if any young korean men with brown hair and eyes got possibly committed here tonight."
"I see.. And what did you tell them?"
"There wasn't anyone in the system committed tonight who fits the age or description," she sheepishly laughed out. "And I didn't recognise the name or photo they showed me, either. So they said they'd check themselves."
Check themselves? Did they plan to go to every station and look into every room?
"That's.. interesting." Cassandra faked a laugh and then pretended going back to the vending machine only to hurriedly enter through the door beside it to the staircase.
That wasn't good, not good at all. Interpol? She thought some goons or maybe the cops would be after them tops. But interpol? That was international. That was way bigger than local police.
She sprinted down the stairs to the lower level where ER was located as fast as she'd ever sprinted in her life, reaching the bottom completely panting but still pushing through and making her way through the station. She sneaked her way past the nurse station, the nurse having returned by now but luckily preoccupied with organising some files.
So far no sight of the interpol agents. She genuinely hoped the guys had already left the room and were long gone. But when she opened the door was greeted by three familiar and startled pairs of eyes.
With a swift moved she shut the door behind her, pressing her body against it with heavy breaths.
"Some interpol agents were asking about recently hospitalised young korean men with brown hair and eyes. You don't think that sounds familiar, do you?"
Taehyung's thick brows rose and he swallowed hard. An apologetical grin playing on his lips then. "Well, you see.. funny story.." His hand went to scratch the back of his neck nervously. Unable to come up with a decent explanation to why an interpol agent was in search for someone looking like him. The only logical sounding thing his mind could come up with was that it was a simple coincidence, but something told him she was way too smart to fall for such an obvious lie.
Much to his relief Jimin took over instead. "Was one of them tall with broad shoulders and a trenchcoat?"
"Well, y-yeah. I guess? Don't they all look like this?"
"Hm, was he also handsome?"
She blinked, taken aback by their seemingly apathy of the situation. Shouldn't they be worried? Appalled even? "I don't know, I didn't see any faces. You know him?"
"Well," Jimin mused, "If he's tall, handsome with broad shoulder and a coat, it's pops."
"'Pops'?!" Confusion was quickly replaced with bewilderment on her face.
Taehyung rolled his eyes, sighing. "Agent Kim Seokjin, one of the interpol agents assigned to us. We.." His voice trailed off, as he was fidgeting around his words. "We.."
They all grew quiet, uncertain glances being exchanged between them and Cassandra slowly became fed up with their secrecy. Her head spinning by now.
With quick steps she stood in front of Taehyung who was avoiding her inquiring glare. She propped her hands on either side of him on the bed as she leaned in with a look so eery and penetrating that evoked a gulp from him.
"We're thieves," Yoongi deadpanned then from behind her, so casually as if he had just announced they were common vendors. "We work internationally, that's why interpol is after us."
Jimin only sighed in defeat and nodded, followed by a light chuckle. "Cat's out of the bag now I guess."
Her brows arched at this.
Thieves. Actual thieves?
They didn't look like it. They might be lying, but then again, how would she know what thieves looked like.
Without letting her guard down, she instead narrowed her eyes at Taehyung in front of her who was giving her an insecure grin.
"If you don't want me to go up there and tell the interpol guys about you, you better tell me the whole story."
Yoongi clicked his tongue. "Why does it matter?" he wondered out loud, folding his arms.
"So I can determine what kind of thieves you are."
They were stunned by her confident attitude and he eventually nodded with a sense of respect towards her. "Alright, just tell her then," he said, motioning to Taehyung who was still quite perplexed by her fierce eyes staring daggers at his. "She'll read it tomorrow in the papers anyway."
"And don't even think about lying," Cassandra whispered, her face mere centimetres away from Taehyung's. "I got a sixth sense for that."
She didn't and Taehyung could tell her bluff, but he still decided to be honest with her. He didn't know why, but when she glared at him with those big angry eyes, trying to look intimidating but failing miserably and instead looking adorable as hell, he melted just a little bit and wanted to tell her anything she wanted.
"Ok, fine," he groaned in pretend-annoyance, looking away, "We're thieves, you know this much. We broke into the archive of an auction house to get an illegally-obtained figurine. But a gang that was also after it, showed up and one of these idiots triggered the alarm system. We escaped, but - again, those guys were brainless - they shot at us, we shot back. And one of their bullets hit the building's gas line then."
She inhaled sharply. "That caused the explosion.."
He gave her a nod, sighing. "And something hit my head.. and that's how we ended up here. Satisfied?"
She ponded over his words. Glancing at him contemplating. "This figurine was.. illegally-obtained? By the auctioneers?"
"Yeah. They bought it off from someone who stole it from its actual owner. And we're helping her to get it back as it also has a high emotional value to her, besides the obvious monetary one."
She hummed. Again, this guy could be lying his head off for all she knew and yet, something inside her told her he was sincere by the way his eyes were looking straight at hers instead of avoiding them.
A figurine from an auction house. That.. wasn't too bad. Was it? It could be worse. They could've been stealing old people's money.
She was probably a naive idiot, but she believed him. At least she wanted to. And yet, she didn't want to get fooled that easily in case it was a lie after all, which most likely was the case.
"You might lie," she pressed as to ensure her gut feeling. But his expression remained persistent. Holding her glance with certainty.
"I might. But I'm not."
"He told you the truth," Jimin smiled then, gently placing his hand on her shoulder and making her back away from his friend. "If you don't believe us, fair enough. Me and Yoongi can still escape with ease. But Taehyungie here wouldn't be able to due to his dizziness and headache. So I'll still beg you not to inform pops."
She was an idiot, most clearly because to her they sounded sincere and it even warmed her heart a little how much they cared for their friend. Indeed, they could easily escape. They didn't even have to bring Taehyung there in the first place, it was a potential risk and yet they'd done it.
That told her enough about them for now.
She might regret it later on. Maybe the next day. Maybe in a week. A year. Who knew what consequences her complicity tonight might have.
But then again.. she was just a medical student doing one of her many internships there. She didn't have any responsibilities.
Taking a deep breath, she pushed herself off the bed and looked at the anticipating guys.
"Alright, follow me," she plainly said then, observing their postures relaxing.
"You won't snitch on us?" Yoongi asked, brow arching in doubt. Caution evident in his voice.
She rolled her eyes with a little giggle. "I'll probably regret it, but no. I'll try my best to keep your little secret between us. But perhaps you wanna change these clothes.." She wagged her index finger at their partially torn, burnt and bloody attire. "If anyone else sees you, I can't promise they won't."
"And what would you suggest, Doc?" Taehyung asked then with a curious smirk, to which Cassandra could only shrug cheekily.
"I may have a plan."

Now I did not watch the new S2 episode. I'm hearing abt it from people who have. And pretty much all the leaks were authentic regarding B&C.
I wrote abt the Sophie's Choice of bk!Helaena in the bk!B&C HERE, when someone asked me abt it. The other unserious things abt Blood & Cheese of HotD is that in the bk:
the psychological torture Helaena goes thru could either be Cheese trying to have fun (unlikely, they were on a "timer") OR it is Daemon reverting, perverting, etc. Rhaenyra's loss--Rhaenyra was not there tro witness Lucerys or even be able to have his remains....Helaena will participate in her own son's murder, so to speak
bk!Cheese was very knowledgaeble abt where to go and how, which tunels to use...which is why he was chosen in the first place and why his "job "profession" (ratcatcher) is so important, bc these guys know where to lay traps in hidden places for rats -> to make as if Cheese is ignorant as to how to lead Blood into the castle makes as if Daemon was more incompetent and careless than either have been canonically shown to be, even when they are angry or aggrieved
also, regarding show!Helaena giving offering her necklace and very quickly pointing out which kid was a boy as if she could not wait to abandon Jaehaerys while bk!Helaena offered her very life before she was forced to choose any kid is just disrespectful not only to her intelligence but neurodivergent people. Esp since if we argue she had some sort of autism or what have you. Autistic people are not that stupid. Please. Again, she's supposedly a dreamer and has had access to such dreams since her preteen yrs in the show, so it's likely she had known what was going to happen in this moment if she also had knwon abt "beast beneath the boards", "spiders (the war)", etc. No HotD didn't show us more moments exactly proving that, but since they also had her do absolutely nothing with those visions like the original Cassandra actually tried to do, no one can tell me it didn't happen. In fact, I can say it's bc she never actually does anything with her dreams (and therefore we'll never really know if she had B&C "dreams" so I can cont with this hypothetical, as its likelihood is stronger than it should have been) that I can say that even her own kids dying doesn't seem to faze her enough to make a plan of sorts to herself? Or to be able to think as she tried in the bk when they forced her to choose. Show!Helaena has "dreams" (they aren't even dragon dreams) but unlike Cassandra, she does nothing with them. Again, it very likely B&C appeared to her in her so-called "dreams", she does what she always does--nothing...but not only does she finally decide to do something, she thought a fucking necklace would help her or her kids? They traveled all this way, risked getting caught and viciously executed, to kill ONE mutherfucking child, and these writers really thought that it was a good idea to have Helaena do this, think this would work even an iota? No, all this was such lazy, cheap writing bc the writers decided that her just having visions made up for her small character in the orig tale and that they didn't have to do else for her--they started and left her half done, it seems. Let's say the B&C dream never appeared to her; this is till the writers taking away the agency I already described above in the link---Helaena is a nothing character whose dreams still mean nothing to no one expect people who want to feel smart the way it exists in the show itself. Helaena has always been a victim, but they made her more abominably victimized...as I already said they do HERE & HERE. She's just around, waiting to be abused by the script and those around her for plot convenience's sake. There is no substance or personhood to her, she is only a purpose.
So, love that for Ryan. Seemed lukewarm.
But what did anyone expect, seeing as the same writers responsible for Aemond's "accident" (having tried for months to convince us that this was exusable even with it not being his intention to kill), for Alicent sincerely forgiving Rhaenyra after she had been on her ass and abusing her and her kids (and threatening their lives) for years and almost stabbing out Luke's eye, for Rhaenyra somehow being so affected by a stupid ass page of Nymeria (of all people!, you made Alicent pull out this page of a woman who lead armies to conquest as a consummate leader in her own right, who lead said armies to make sure her people survived, in order to dissuade Rhaenyra from fighting for what she sees as her birthright/designated seat of power and to also make sure her family/unit survives?!) to derail her from really confronting any of them in battle...🤷🏿‍♂️

All Too Well, Part 12
{"And if it's right, I don't care how long it takes. As long as I'm with you, I've got a smile on my face."}
Poly!Gojo x OC x Geto
All Too Well Masterlist
Part 1
Miho sat on her bed, her jaw slack. Her boyfriend and best friend sat in front of her. Suguru sat in the chair at her desk, hands clasped politely. He was watching her carefully, hazel eyes searching her face for answers. Satoru was cross legged in the floor, biting his lip.
Both waited on her response.
"So..." she began, "...you mean like, we all date...each other?"
"Yup," Satoru said.
"If that's something your comfortable with, of course," Suguru said gently.
"Just say the word and we'll forget all about it," Satoru added, gesturing with his hands.
Miho bit the inside of her cheek. It was a strange proposition. She had personally never given much thought to being in any relationship, much less one like that. She knew from the very start that Suguru and Satoru were close. It wasn't too surprising to her that they were that close.
Still...the idea didn't bother her. She thought back to when they had all fallen asleep together. How at peace she had felt. How it just felt like a puzzle piece falling into place, like something that was supposed to happen. Her hands tightened around the hem of her skirt.
"I think...we should try it," she said finally. A smile graced her lips and she tucked her hair behind her ear.
Satoru smiled a toothy grin and turned to Suguru. Everything was working out the way it needed to.
"What do we tell the others?" Miho asked.
"It's probably best to not tell anyone," Suguru said quietly, "Who knows how they'd react."
"Are you okay with this, Satoru?"
"I sort of knew it'd have to be like that," Satoru rubbed the back of his head. He winked at her over his glasses. "It might be exciting, sneaking around."
---
Hiding their relationship was easy at first. Satoru already spent most of his time either with Suguru or Miho anyway, so it didn't stick out to anyone that he was around them all the time. When the boys were away on missions together, they'd treat it like dates, going out to eat and spending time together. When they were home, Suguru and Miho often acted as they did before, as a couple, and in the evenings, the three would sit together in the library or in one of their rooms. Satoru and Miho would spend time together when Suguru was on missions.
One such night, when Suguru was off with Shoko, Miho and Satoru walked together through a shopping district in Tokyo. The winter holiday was coming up, and Miho had the idea to get gifts for both boys. She left Satoru standing on the sidewalk as she raced back to the shop.
"Stay there! Don't move!" Miho called back to him excitedly.
Satoru shook his head, but obliged. His blue eyes glowed, the look neutralized by his dark sunglasses. A giddiness was stirring in his chest, his hand still buzzing from holding Suguru's hand the other day. It had been a brief display of affection, but one that left him dizzy.
Miho jogged back to him, adjusting her scarf around her neck. Her hair was falling in her face again. She had a small bag in her hand.
"Here!" she said, slipping something onto his wrist.
Satoru stood there, dumbfounded. It was a bracelet made of glass beads in a repeating pattern; light blue, green, and brown.
Miho held out her wrist. She wore an identical bracelet.
"I got one for Suguru, too!" she said, her cheeks flushing red, "I-it doesn't really match our eye colors, but I thought it was cute-"
Satoru grabbed her face and pulled her close, kissing her forehead quickly. It was a short, shy peck. Miho froze, eyes wide. Her ears were bloodshot. As he pulled away, Satoru chided himself for chickening out. He was going to aim for her lips.
"I think it's a great idea, Miho," he breathed.
The brunette couldn't respond. She stumbled over her words, "Y-Yeah, I think so. Do-Do you think Suguru will like it?"
Seeing her so flustered was doing something to him. He turned away, quickly, running a hand through his hair. He beckoned her forward, ione hand slipping forward to intertwine with hers and the other resting in his coat pocket.
As they headed back to the station he felt a prickling sensation in the back of his neck. Satoru ignored it. With his Six Eyes, he sensed any cursed energy, regardless of its strength or grade. The prickling was second nature to him. Two blocks down, the painless needling spiked in a painful throb.
Satoru stopped abruptly and turned, looking behind them. He tilted his head to look over his glasses.
Throngs of people walked by, ignoring the teens.
His hand tightened around hers and Miho followed his gaze. "What's wrong?"
"Someone's following us."

I haven't seen an answer to this question and I don't want to bother Neil Gaiman with it, but I wondered if you might already know the answer.
When Aziraphale gives Crowley the holy water in 1967, he says "When all this over" and suggests a picnic or dining at the Ritz. When all WHAT is over? This is decades before the antichrist shows up. Are we supposed to know what he's talking about? Is it an error or a wait-and-see? Since it's from S1, it would have been written before S3 was in the works (supposedly).
Is it connected to why Crowley is planning this holy water heist in 1967 and not closer to 1941, when he realized churches just had fonts of holy water standing around unguarded?
Have I missed something in the canon?
Thanks for your help!
I don't have a mo to actually re-watch, but according to the script book, Aziraphale does not actually say "when this is all over." He says "perhaps one day we could."
Unless it changed between script book and screen, I don't think you've missed anything.
I'm not sure why Crowley waited more than twenty years to stage his church heist. I mean, almost thirty years wouldn't be long for either him or Aziraphale, but if he really wanted holy water, I don't know why he wouldn't go after it a bit sooner. Someone else pointed out that not only does it seem that more happened in 1941 that we have yet to see, quite possibly more happened between 1941 and 1967. I think I agree. There is more to be seen. We'll get more flashbacks in season 3. And more than just 1941.

Hi hello! Can I suggest some farm boy bonding between time and twilight? See twilight was basically born into it, molded by it, rolled in the hay since his youth. Time does it cause he loves his wife lol. I just think it would be neat if they handle something difficult together and time is impressed with just how good Twi really is.
Sorry this took me so long. Enjoy! Might not be my best I wrote it at like 2 am lol.
Characters: Time, Twilight, Malon.
No warnings.
Genre: fluff?
Being dropped at the ranch was a welcome blessing, but all the manual labor that was to be done was starting to make the chain think otherwise. With summer came scorching temperatures and unfortunately farm work didn't stop just because of a little heat. Time groaned as Malon rolled out of bed and the cry of cuccos grew louder. "Oh don't be a big baby." Malon laughed. "Get to work Darlin'. I need that fence fixed or the ole girl will get out." He sighed, and swung his feet over the bed, rubbing his eyes. "And while you're at it, bring some hay over. The big stacks. The horses are runnin low." Another groan. "Anything for you Darling" He said wearily. "Sorry, I would do it myself but I'm sure y'all are hungry and if I'm gonna cook enough for all of us I've got to get to work." Time stretched and finally stood. "Don't worry, you do enough while I'm gone Darling. A few farm tasks is the least I can do." He said, kissing her briskly on the cheek and finding some clothes.
Normally, fixing a fence would be light work. Maybe he was just aging, or maybe it was because of the hellish temperature. Time wiped some sweat off his brow and had long discarded his shirt. "Boy is it hot!" He heard Twilight yell from somewhere behind him. "Tell me about it." Time grumbled, fumbling with a couple of nails. "Need help old man?" The farm boy yelled from over the sound of Time's hammer. "No." Time said quickly, focusing on the task at hand. "But if you're willing to fetch some hay from over there and bring it to the stalls that would be greatly appreciated." Time suggested, once again wiping sweat off of his brow. "If you have time come back here, it's quite a bit of hay though." Twilight scoffed at that. "You underestimate me old man. I'll be back." Time laughed a little.
It couldn't have been fifteen minutes and Twilight came waltzing back to where Time was still crouched by the fence. "Done already?" Time asked, doubtful. "You betcha." Time set the hammer down and raised a brow. "You pullin my leg son?" Twilight laughed. "Nah. You forget I was basically born into this work. Light work old man. Light work." Time chuckled. "Then if you wouldn't mind." Time gestured to the fence. With the two of them, it couldn't have taken ten more minutes. Time was impressed to say the least, and was disappointed in a way that he and Malon didn't always have this help. One day, he thought. One day.
Malon was still working hard on a pot of stew when Time and Twilight waltzed in. "Done already?" She questioned, brow raised. "You can thank him." Time laughed, patting Twilight on the back. Malon snickered. "Well thank you boys." She added, moving to chop a carrot.
As night approached, Malon and Time made their way up to their bedroom. "You know..." Time started, slipping out of his farm clothes. "Hm?" Malon questioned. "He does good work, Twilight I mean." Time said, wrapping his arms around Malons waist. "I was watching out the window." Malon said. "It just makes me happy, when I think about it. He's proof we'll have one of our own." Time giggled, if you could believe he's capable of doing such. "Can't wait." He said, smile on his face.

Legend of Ruby Sunday live notes
Obviously spoilers below, recorded as I watched. Definitely gonna watch again though. I think I might do a seperate write up about 'what to take away' because oh my god does this episode throw a lot at you!
"Uncle"!!
We're definitiely getting a UNIT spin-off aren't we? I recognised the soldier guy straight away (tbh, when I first saw the 60th trailers he looked so odd in the shots used I thought he was cgi/deepfaked). If we do get it, I do hope they go for the military vs science conflict like I imagine - he'd be a good 'antagonist' for Kate in that regard.
Ooh... just pointing out the anagram in-universe....huh.
"TARDIS technology." Oh she's doomed this episode, I can feel it coming.
Oh! And we're doing the Susan mention?! Ok?!
AND THAT'S THE END OF THE PRE-TITLES WHAT? WHY?
Must be a redirect, though, surely? 'Susan' is not much to go off. It's silly they're jumping to this straight away in-universe, even with the TARDIS anagram.
"Well, except the obvious." "We'll get him." Is that a Musk slam?
Mel!
"Call me Sue" that's a bit of evidence against. Though if it is somehow Susan, her actually being 'really nice' would be cute.
Ruby Rose besties! Ruby Rose besties!
Hm. If this is somehow Susan, we are so going to dissect that thing about Sue Triad's parents.
Donna mention. :)
Oh my god, I've just realised. The TARDIS is a central part of this mystery, and that's exactly what Mrs Flood claimed to recognise...
Uhh.... what's up with Flood?
"HE WAITS NO MORE."
We're really settling on the Susan thing, huh.
"He never mentioned a granddaughter." Five Doctors fans keep losing.
"If you've got a granddaughter, that means you've got kids." "Well, not quite. Not yet." OMG WE'RE DOING THIS?
(Also...he definitely HAS had kids before - and not just Jenny and Miranda. But wild that we're implying Susan isn't the child of one of them.)
"I bring disaster. What if I go back and ruin her?" Hmm... so far kinda compatible with To the Death?
"Especially the Prime Minister." lol.
"N-dimenionsal time", thanks, I'll absorb that into my interpretation of time, time tracks etc. in the whoniverse.
Mel lost her family. Is that a reference? Doesn't immediately bring something to mind.
I like the way the lights are fading up and down, very TARDIS-y.
Ooh, the VHS-y environment.
"The greatest power of all: memory. Time is remembered. Memory is time." MEMORY TARDIS MEMORY TARDIS.
"What is the memory of a time machine?" No way.
Ok, getting ready for a twist. RTD said where people were is important.
...or not?
The one who waits?!
Well there goes the colonel. No surprise.
Hmm... the description "it's everything" sounds a lot like the Void ship from Doomsday.
"It's the Beast." Not that 'Beast' surely?
"It's so old. It's been waiting. It's been waiting for so long." So those "one"s are the same, confirmed?
"It's the TARDIS" AHHHH.
It's groaning again! "It's made that noise before."
"What if it exists around the TARDIS now and we just can't see it?"
I don't think this is our Susan, but if she somehow is I'm really enjoying her dorkiness.
...that's two "no more" drops so far. Hmm...
"AND I THINK WE CAN SUCCEED" Hello?!
It's woven into the TARDIS? Some sort of parasite maybe? Didn't RTD say something about the splitting in The Giggle being important?
"He has hidden in the Howling Void. He has hidden within the tempest." WAIT I WAS RIGHT?! It's Void related. The Eternals called it the Howling didn't they?!
"All this time, he whispered and delighted and seduced, and the vessel did obey. For none should be more mighty and none should be more wise than the King himself." UHHHHH.
HARRIET F*CKING ARBINGER (and she said she was born for this... of course)
WAIT THAT'S SAXON'S THEME WTF
"I dream of worlds with orange skies." HUH? I guess that could be from Boom, but you know what I'm thinking
"There is the Toymaker: the God of Games. There is Trickster: the God of traps." I f*cking knew it. The 'Pantheon' is the Pantheon of Discord!
"There is Maestro: the God of Music. There is Reprobate: of Spite. There is the Mara, the God of Beasts, and the three-fold deity of malice and mischeif and misery." Ok Mara mention... BUT also, "three-fold" that's deliberate right?! Like the Six-Fold God?
"The mother and father and other of them all."
SUTEKH!
"Did you think I was family, Doctor?" Phew...
And it's Gabriel Woolf voicing him! That's good.
Wait... he also voiced the Beast... huh. What does that mean with the reference this episode?

Sterling household--The Talk
Chapter 8: The talk
Milton's heart pounded nervously as he stood on Sterling's kitchen table, flanked by Cassia and Emma. Sterling loomed like a benign colossus, his presence still intimidating.
"Alright then," Milton began, his voice steadier than he felt, "let's talk about how we can make this work for all of us."
“Of course, but first, I have some things for you.” The tiny borrowers watched in confusion as Sterling turned to grab something from his counter.
The smell of freshly baked bread was distracting. Apparently, Sterling thought it was a good idea for them to snack and talk.
"Smells amazing, doesn't it?" Cassia whispered, her stomach betraying her with a tiny growl.
"Focus," Milton murmured, though even he couldn't deny the saliva pooling in his mouth at the thought of fresh bread. Granted, Cassia was perfectly able to make bread within the walls of their home, but it wasn’t the same as the fluffy bread that giants make.
Sterling chuckled, a deep sound vibrating through the air. "I hope you're hungry. There's plenty to go around." He set down a plate of freshly cut bread. Some slices had butter on them, and others did not. The bread was cut into tiny pieces so it would be easy for his tiny guests to handle.
Before Milton could make a move to sample the offering, Sterling spoke up again, his giant hand coming down close, startling the tiny man. “Wait one more thing, here take this, this is for you.” Pinched between the giant’s forefinger and thumb was a tiny tea cup—perfectly sized for the tiny borrowers. Milton stared in shock but reached for the cup. Sterling offered a cup to Cassia and Emma as well.
“These are for you, you can keep them, I bought them at a craft store, I thought they would be perfect for you. Oh! And these too.” Next Sterling handed each of them a tiny spoon, the spoon was close to their scale.
“This is amazing, Sterling. Thank you.” Cassia said.
“Why do you giants have tiny stuff like this? What’s the purpose?” Emma spoke up. She liked the tiny gift, but she couldn’t understand why a giant would sell and buy these things, if not for toys for their young, but these items seemed way to small for children’s toys.
“I don’t know……. I guess humans have always liked tiny things.” Sterling said with a shrug.
“But wait there’s more.” Sterling said with a grin. He brought over a pitcher of iced tea. He then took a pipette and suctioned some of the tea into it. He then held it over each of their tiny cups. He carefully served them some fresh tea.
Sterling sat down in his chair, holding a mug of his own; he took a sip of his tea and smiled down at them. “Ok, now we can start.”
Milton inched closer to the table's edge, his eyes locked on Sterling's face. "Sterling," Milton started, each word measured and deliberate, "We've come to appreciate... your kindness."
Sterling leaned in, careful not to make any sudden moves that might startle his tiny guests. "I'm glad to hear that, Milton. I've always enjoyed helping where possible, and I want you guys to stay."
Cassia, her hands clasped in front of her, added, "We can't ignore the risks, but we also see the benefits of living here, close to you." Her voice held a note of cautious optimism.
"Of course," Sterling nodded, "It's a delicate balance, isn't it?"
Emma glanced between Milton and Cassia before addressing Sterling with a hint of boldness. "It is. And we'll find a way to maintain that balance if you are."
Sterling's expression softened further, touched by the admission. " All of you were very kind to look after me when I was ill. I think we can be good neighbors or roommates or sorts, I’d be willing to work out an agreement of conduct.”
"An exchange," Milton proposed. "We help with small tasks, like pest control and small repairs to the house, and in return, we receive some food scraps and materials that would otherwise be wasted."
"Seems fair, but I think we can do better than that," Sterling agreed with a gentle smile. "I don’t want you guys to feel like you have to hide. I don’t see how that’s different than before?” “What, the only difference is I know you’re around?” Sterling asked with a frown.
“This is a lot for us. We’re not supposed to interact or talk to you like this.” Emma pointed out.
“I won’t push you past what you’re comfortable with, but I would want you all to be more comfortable, maybe interact more. I’d be willing to share more than just scraps.” Sterling pressed.
"Hmmm, okay, then. Look, Sterling," Emma piped up, barely containing the tremor in her voice as she glanced warily at the corner of the kitchen where Whiskers usually lounged. Currently, the cat was shut in Sterling’s room. "We need to talk about your cat, then."
Milton's eyes darted toward the ground, his body tensing at the mention of the feline predator. Cassia placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder, her gaze fixed on Sterling.
Sterling sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I know Whiskers can be... problematic for you folks, but she's part of this household too. I can't just get rid of her."
"Perhaps we could arrange our borrowing times?" suggested Milton. "A schedule that lets us roam when she's confined to your room?"
"Or announce ourselves loudly," Cassia added with a hint of reluctance. "Though it feels like asking permission in our own home."
"Training her might be a safer bet," Sterling proposed, watching their reactions closely. "Properly introduce you to her, so she understands you’re family, not food. But of course, I’d be willing to set a schedule; we can write it out."
Cassia nodded slowly. " The schedule would be preferred, and I think we should do that first. But I’d be willing to try to be introduced to your—"
"No!" Milton interjected sharply. "I won't risk Cassia or the children. If we do that, I’ll do it first, just in case something goes wrong."
“Oh, I won’t let anything happen to you, I promise,” Sterling said as he leaned closer.
Sterling and Milton locked eyes, a silent battle of wills passing between them until Sterling finally chuckled. "I promise you won’t be hurt; I’ll be there every step of the way; it will be done under close supervision.”
"Good," Milton grumbled, not thrilled about this whole idea.
"Another thing," Cassia said before the mood could sour further. "Please, don't tell others about us. It's dangerous if more humans know."
"Of course," Sterling agreed solemnly. "Your secret's safe with me. And I'll give you a heads-up if I'm expecting company. You should have plenty of time to hide or return to your nest."
"Thank you," Cassia said, the relief evident in her tone. "It eases my mind knowing we won't stumble upon strangers."
"Before we continue further," Sterling said, shifting slightly, "I have another thing for you." He reached into a drawer and pulled out a small bundle wrapped in cloth. He unfolded it on the table with delicate care to reveal an assortment of miniature kitchenware.
Milton's eyes narrowed at the sight of the tiny pots and pans, more silverware, more teacups, plates, and plastic buckets—all perfectly borrower-sized. "We can't accept these; you’ve already given us a gift," he stated firmly, his pride as a provider prickling at the offer and the fact they didn’t get any gift for the giant.
Cassia's elbow nudged into his side subtly yet with intention. "Oh, they're wonderful," she exclaimed, her voice warm with genuine delight as she inspected the gifts. "We love them, don't we?"
"Of course," Milton conceded begrudgingly, though his gaze lingered on the items with a hint of appreciation. Sterling's lips curled into a pleased smile, his eyes brightening at Cassia's enthusiasm.
"Good, I'm glad," Sterling responded, watching them. "I hope they're... usable."
"Indeed," Cassia said, still admiring the craftsmanship.
After a moment of contemplative silence, Sterling's expression turned serious. "Listen, I've been meaning to ask—have you been cooking inside the walls? Using flame?" His tone was gentle, but concern etched his brow.
Cassia and Milton tensed simultaneously; the question felt like an intrusion, a spotlight on their hidden lives. "Yes, but we're always careful," Cassia assured quickly, her voice steady despite the sudden anxiety.
"Even so, I'd rather you didn't," Sterling insisted. "It's not just about being careful. Even tiny, controlled fires could lead to disaster."
"Disaster?" Milton scoffed. "We know what we're doing. It's not like we're reckless."
"Still," Sterling pressed, "what if there's another way? I could get you a miniature kitchen to set up here, on the counter. You could cook safely without worries."
"Out here?" Milton's voice rose incredulously. "You expect us to abandon the safety of the walls whenever hunger strikes?"
"Look, I—I thought it might be nice to share meals, but maybe that's too much," Sterling stuttered, his proposal hanging awkwardly in the air. "We can work out a schedule if that's better."
"Share meals?" Emma muttered under her breath, her skepticism evident even in hushed tones. "Like we wouldn't just take what we need anyway."
Sterling cleared his throat, undeterred. "I'll also leave a notepad out. If you need anything specific, just write it down, and I'll see what I can do."
"I’ll consider it. Could I pick the kitchen?” Cassia spoke up. She loved the idea of having something close to what humans got to enjoy.
“Of course!” Sterling said with a relieved smile.
“Okay, well, we can give it a try to see if that works,” Cassia declared, ignoring her husband's grumpy expression.
"Agreed," Sterling nodded. "You'll have free access to the kitchen. Anything you need."
"Generous offer," Cassia said with a small smile, glancing up at Sterling's towering figure. "Thank you, really."
"Of course," he replied, his voice softening. "Anything for my little housemates."
"Right," Sterling said, refocusing the group's attention. "One last rule I'd like to put in place. My bedroom and bathroom are off-limits. You'll just have to ask me if you need something from those rooms."
Milton nodded, his expression serious as he considered the giant human's request. "Understandable. Your privacy is important."
"Very well," Emma agreed, her eyes flickering to the other borrowers. "We'll respect your spaces. Let's sort out these schedules then."
"Great," Sterling replied, relieved. They discussed times and routines, ensuring their paths would cross safely and predictably.
Once they agreed on a schedule, Sterling reached into his pocket and pulled out a small object. "I've got one more thing for you. It's a smartphone—a basic one, but it should do the trick."
"A phone?" Milton's eyebrows shot up, incredulity etched across his face.
"Yes," Sterling beamed, placing it gently on the table before them. "It's pre-paid. You can call or text me if there's an emergency or even if you just need to ask about something."
Cassia leaned forward, her eyes wide as she examined the device. "This... this is too much, Sterling. We can't accept—"
"Please," Sterling interjected, pressing his palm against his chest. "It would give me peace of mind knowing you could reach out if needed."
"Thank you," Milton said gruffly, clearly moved despite his reservations. He was thinking about how they’d have to give something to Sterling in return; the giant human had already given them too many gifts. He could not stand to be outdone in this way.
Sterling picked up the phone and showed how to use it. "Here's how you turn it on, and here's how you make a call. I've saved my number under 'Giant'—it seemed fitting."
A chuckle escaped Cassia's lips, and even Emma allowed herself a small grin at the nickname.
"Let's test it," Sterling suggested. He dialed his own number from the phone and let it ring. His pocket buzzed, and he showed them the incoming call. "See? That's you calling."
"Technology," Milton muttered, still eyeing the phone with a mix of suspicion and fascination. Their most common technology was wiring and lights in their tunnels.
"Can we send messages, too?" Cassia asked, her curiosity overriding her initial hesitation.
"Absolutely," Sterling confirmed. "I'll leave it here by the notepad—you can grab it whenever you're ready to take it back to your nest."
"Stellar," Emma said, and though the word was flippant, her tone carried genuine appreciation.
"Thank you, Sterling," Cassia said again, her voice warm. " Although, Sterling, there's one more thing," Cassia interjected, "I want you to properly meet our children."
"Of course!" Sterling’s voice boomed enthusiastically, a giant grin spreading across his face. His eyes sparkled at the prospect of meeting the little ones he’d only glimpsed during hurried rescues from mischievous escapades.
"Come on up, loves!" Cassia called out. Four tiny figures emerged from the shadowy crevice in the wall, cautiously approaching the table. Agnes, her hair tied back in a practical braid, climbed the dangling rope with ease of experience, her little brother Finn clinging to her back, his eyes wide with wonder and trepidation. Pippin and Lila followed their big sister.
Sterling watched, spellbound by their miniature bravery, resisting every paternal instinct to scoop his hands underneath them for safety. Instead, he remained still, but his body was ready to lunge forward to catch them if they slipped.
"Hello, Mr. Silversmith," Agnes greeted, her voice steady despite the rapid thumping of her heart.
"Hi!" chirped Finn, his small fingers tightening around his sister's shoulders.
"Please, call me Sterling," he replied gently, careful not to startle them with the volume of his voice. "And who might this brave knight be?" he nodded towards Finn. He’d only seen the tiny boy once after rescuing him from his cat.
"I'm Finn!" the boy announced proudly, puffing out his chest as much as his piggyback position would allow.
"Nice to meet you, Finn. And Agnes, it's a pleasure to see you again."
Agnes nodded, her cheeks flushing with bashfulness.
"Can I have some bread?" Finn asked, his gaze darting to the plate of food.
"Of course," Sterling chuckled.
"Yeah!" Finn exclaimed, sliding down from Agnes's back to enjoy the warm food. Milton moved to help his youngest with his serving.
Sterling's eyes then landed on the other two children.
Cassia stepped forward. “This is Pippin, and this is Lila.”
“Hello there, it’s very nice to meet you?” Sterling smiled at the two tiny children.
Pippin shuffled his feet. “It’s nice to meet you too; thank you for letting me go last time.”
“Of course, little one. Here, go help yourself to the bread,” Sterling replied. He could tell the tiny children were still nervous around him, and he hoped his offering would put them at ease.
Sterling watched in fascination as the tiny girl, Lila, approached his hand. She placed her tiny hand on his finger. To his surprise and delight, the tiny girl started to climb into his hand. She stood on the back of his hand. Balancing and giggling as she went. Sterling held perfectly still, not wanting to knock the tiny girl down. He could feel her tiny feet padding softly against his skin.
"Are we like mice to you?" Lila asked, her voice teeming with curiosity.
"A bit," Sterling acknowledged with a teasing grin, "But much cleverer and certainly more talkative."
"Can I climb up your arm?" Lila inquired, peeking up through long lashes, her adventurous spirit shining through.
"Maybe," Sterling hedged, shooting a quick glance at their parents. "With your parents' permission, of course." He was surprised at how quickly this little one was warming up to him.
"Let's stick to the table for now," Milton interjected. It didn’t sit right with him to see his youngest daughter using the human as a jungle gym. She shouldn’t be this at ease with him.
Lila pouted but listened to her father. She hopped down from the giant hand and ran over to her father, asking for some yummy bread.
After the borrowers had their fill of bread and the adults had hashed out their agreements, they said their goodbyes, packed their gifts into their packs and headed back inside the walls. Sterling leaned down, handing them their new phone to take back with them. Sterling was amused that it took all three tiny adults to drag the electronics back with them.
Author Note: Below is an example of some of the gifts Sterling gave them. The figure is just a reference model for size comparison.
