I have just recently found out that summer related anxiety is an actual thing and in retrospect it explains so much about my previous life. So, now that I know what I’m dealing with, we can start working through it. In order to do that I put up several pictures on my pinboard, which you can see above, to remind me of the good things that I find come with summer.  ·       I remember one summer in particular as a very great one, so I thought why not draw inspiration from that? It might seem weird to all those extroverts out there who actually like socializing (heard that’s a thing), but I spent that summer gaming. Yep, gaming. I had just bought my first Assassin’s Creed game and I’ve been obsessed with the series ever since. Pretty sure I could repeat this awesomeness of a summer experience and that’s how the first picture (of the girl with the controller) made its way onto the wall.

·        When the first summer heat wave hit me, it threw me off balance. Big time (rush, sorry, miss that show). But, as it is all year round, it’s important to keep working towards your goals, whatever that may look like. Hence the “You have not failed yet, so why give up?” It just reminds me that I have no reason to give up on my goals if I have not even really given them a try.

·        “Be happy” Read somewhere that it’s a decision, not a goal. Trying to keep that in mind.

·        I love painting. I’m more of a drawing person though, that’s my favorite kind of art to do. Still, there’s something relaxing about painting and especially the process of doing it. Also, ain’t summer the perfect time to “accidently” cover yourself in paint? I wanna make an effort to do it more, like the girl in the picture. (I know I won’t look as cute and aesthetically pleasing as her, but still)

·        Now, I’ve had that strawberry lemonade recipe pinned on pinterest for forever and always missed strawberry season. Fucking finally tried it the other day, 10/10!

·        Not too sure if you can tell from the picture, but the next photo is a cinema. I never go to the movies as often as I would want to, but especially for summer time these buildings have the benefit of a high-functioning ac. For someone who can’t stand heat, that currently sounds like heaven.

·        I love summer reruns on tv actually. I don’t care if my friends (lol what friends #sociallyanxiousintrovertproblems) think that summer is good for biking, swimming or spending time in the sun (wtf wants that???). I’m good watching cartoons (hint, picture above, hint) and reruns of my favorite Australian childhood shows about surfing. That’s about as much summer as I can handle anyways.

·        Let’s group the next two pics together cause they both have beverages in them. Iced coffee in the morning (highly recommend cold brew) and a glass of wine in the evening. There you go, best summer ever (or close!?).

·        As for “Don’t be afraid. Do it.” I guess my wall speaks for itself there, just a little reminder for socially anxious me.

·        Next, we have a bunch of jokers from various pretty card decks that I own. Solitaire is one of my favorite forms of meditation, so in case we need a quick panic attack relief, it’s there to remind me. (but mostly they just look cool)

·        The bunch of words in the corner is just a cute tumblr post I once read and liked. Nice message, so it’s up there.

·        The last picture of the record player and the flowers just kinda represents my (few) positive feelings about summer. I just kinda like the strong contrast of light and shadow due to the summer sun and the vintage feel this season gives me. (also reminds me to get sun flowers when there finally in season, at least I’ll have a plant friend)

·        Mind the punctuation mark at the end of “exist” cause it’s very important. I’m gonna make an effort this summer to just exist and live and be happy in the now and not worry so much. Just live my life the way I want to and be as unapologetic as I can be about it. Basically that one simple word sums up everything else I pinned to my wall and acts as a kind of mantra throughout the summer of 2018.

9 (Tu). How do you keep yourself motivated to study for a class when the teacher or professor is bad (i.e. mean or doesn’t teach effectively)?

I truly believe that you should always take your education into your own hands so I’d skip that teacher’s class, or try my best to take what I can if I have to sit through it. Looking up lectures online is such a privilege too!
