I almost don't wanna make this post bc I feel like it will be misinterpreted, but I've been thinking about the odd sort of double standard in specifically the danny phantom fandom, where the most popular thing (bafflingly, to me, given canon, but I won't digress) is to write/draw about a 14-year-old boy being mutilated, tortured, dismembered, vivisected, and generally brutalized, BUT,

if people try to ship him with, say, Vlad, suddenly that's a step too far

TO BE CLEAR I AM NOT DEFENDING THE SHIP. I do not like it, it skeeves me out, I've blocked people on sight for shipping it, I've gotten into heated debates with other folks in the fandom about it, you can ask like anyone and they'll back me up on this lol

MY POINT is that I find it so strange that one of these things (shipping a 14-year-old with an adult) is seen as abhorrent and heinous, whole the other thing (brutally torturing, mutilating, and traumatizing a 14-year-old for our Amusement) is A-OK and is in fact the most popular activity in the fandom 👍

and some of this shit is DARK! the few times I've poked into the dark fics in the fandom, especially the more popular/well-known/infamous ones, some of them have made me feel genuinely nauseated (and horror is like, my favorite genre for writing lol!!!!!!!)

I'm very curious about this phenomenon because I think it says something interesting about the old 'differentiating between fiction and reality' conversation that comes up every time dark fic/fic that features taboo elements is mentioned. Am I intelligent enough to articulate what that something is? Probably not lol

Although I do think a factor is that one of the situations in question is much less likely to happen to real kids and teens, but again I'm not intelligent enough to put into actual specifics why/how much that might matter.

Long winded rant of me talking about NSB, doing a new series, storytelling and whatever else I talked about under the cut, feel free to read it's just me rambling, I don't really care if ppl read it or not it's VERY long 😭

I've been painfully itching to start a new series, I know I'm doing NSB rn, and I do plan to at least finish the normal NSB legacy (up to Gen 9), although I might finish or take a break at around Gen 5 or 6, just because I don't wanna lose motivation and also because it takes A LOT to make some of these posts (for example, the last NSB post... took a lot out of me), and I'm only on Gen 2, almost Gen 3 rn, and I was originally planning to do all 30 or 40 Gens in the updated ver of NSB, which def doesn't seem like it'll be happening right now, because at the current rate at which I post, and how fast things in my game move, Sims 6 will be out before I even finish Gen 30 😭😭

Anyways, I don't know what the series would be about, if I were to do a new series, it would definitely be a lot more story based, if not completely story based, I don't know if I'd do/include gameplay, but I really wanna dive into more storytelling and setting up scenes, I'm not a film or theatre kid by any means, and I really don't know much about writing and setting up scenes and stuff, to be honest, i don't even know how I storytell, I guess it's just regurgitated content molded to shape the statue of my story if that makes sense lmao, I guess it's also the art of using so many fucking metaphors and similes that doing something like comparing love to drowning in a cold ocean comes sorta easy to me? I'm not grammatically inclined and don't know a lot about punctuation, my teachers all kinda gave up on me in English class, so all of my writing is basically self taught, which I guess is the case for a lot of things I do- I feel like starting a new series would help me learn how to write better, even though it seems like a lot of ppl love my writing, I still feel like I could improve so much and do so much better. I already have a couple ideas in mind for a new series, I don't think I'll say much rn just in case I decide to make them a series, but as for right now, I've got plans for Gen 3 NSB (aka Calico), and if I were to start a new series, I would not stop playing NSB, but due to how I function and shit, I would have to put NSB on hiatus, I kind of have a hard time doing two stories at once, hence why Sharkie's story got put on hiatus, because it was too stressful for me to double up, especially with how often I post (at least 3 or 4 times a week), I would like to go back and play Sharkies story and share her story up to this point where I last played her, her story is a lot more gameplay centered (for example, I am more inclined to make a blender scene for NSB, then Sharkie, for Sharkie, I'd do stuff like go to the bar and see how it plays out and take screenshots and just edit those) which I like more, but that's not to say I don't enjoy NSB, because I equally LOVE storytelling as I do gameplay.

While writing this, I did think of something I could do, which would be posting NSB every other week (so one week I do Sharkie or some other series and then the next week I do NSB, then a diff series, so on so forth), the only problem is that usually when I get an idea, and I finish that idea, I like to post it asap, I'm not good at scheduling posts lmao, but it might be worth it if people want to see another series (that is if anyone is still reading up to this point lol), I'd like to channel my storytelling into a more story based save/story, but idk! I'm just kinda doing my thing rn and I'm at a point where i wanna do something different. I especially wanna start doing more in blender, it just takes fucking forever to do some of the stuff I wanna do, and some of it means learning new stuff which is thrice as hard and takes thrice as long compared to normal posing and stuff 😭

ok about how quickly i'm writing these, i surprised even myself with that because even a couple years ago when i was at the peak of my fanfic writing days, i'd post like once a day (on my old blog which i deleted) and i've never been that productive again. im happy that people like roose though theres like a noticable lack of content for him.

AND YEAH SDLKFJDF happy to please only came up in my head because i saw a tiktok that said book roose said his first two wives would lay there silently and he found it somewhat endearing that walda would actually be vocal, which i thought was kind of sweet and out of character for him to say. my mind started wandering to what it would look like in action.

i can absolutely imagine like the second time they have sex, reader is very shy, covering her face as you said. and when roose tells her that he wants to see her, she forces herself to look at him. i think the dynamic i wrote in this fic, he's more loving with her so he'd probably prefer to take reader in missionary, particularly with his forearms resting on either side of her head, forehead pressed to hers. it'd make every noise she makes more audible, every microreaction more visible, and every time he wants to he can just lean down and brush her lips with his.

reader's probably braver and tries less to hide her pleasure going into the future.

I am of the opinion that I am not a tumblr celebrity, but everyone has a different idea about what a tumblr celebrity even is so like who knows. To me a tumblr celeb is someone who you can like mention to the average tumblr user and they will know who they are, which are typically people in the like 60-80k+ range from what I can tell, and I haven't even broken 10k yet(9,458 if you want the exact number). Also I've had the same blog since I joined in early 2012 so I feel confident in saying that a good portion of those blogs are abandoned or bots or something like that. I don't really vet my followers for bots that much because I am chronically ill and tired a lot and it's annoying so yeah, probably a lot of bots.

Anyway I def don't have enough followers for it to like, do anything for me(aside from like, having my posts get reposted to reddit and instagram and read in youtube videos, but that does next to nothing for me so whatever) but that's also probably bcs I don't really market myself I guess? Like I post about my twitch streams and art occasionally and I make funny posts but I don't really like....have a thing people can expect from me consistently, you know? I don't write essays or run an etsy shop or have any Noteworthy Pets or make interesting art that I post about. I'm sure if I like actually buckled down and actually started Making Something all the time I'd get more followers...but every time I've tried I just get bored or have a Certified Kiki's Delivery Service Moment and stop making anything for a while(the last time I tried to open commissions I had a breakdown and stopped drawing for like half a year), plus I have a lot of chronic health issues and ADHD so that makes it hard for me to be consistent with anything at all, and I also like don't really care about having a lot of followers anyway? I am imperfect and impulsive and not always the best at articulating myself and even when I try I tend to get more people angry at me based on misunderstanding than anything else, so like being "famous" genuinely sounds exhausting even if I could potentially make money or whatever. I'm very happy to be a weird little furry twitch streamer who makes art and posts funny memes sometimes, and if people wanna stick around for that they are welcome to, and if they aren't oh well, that's fine too.

Ok, the next one is Sylvia!!!!!!! She's kinda my favorite tbh. She's basically the same setup as Solaria (I'm cursed, oh nooooo) but imagine getting cursed by your (now ex) boyfriend and constantly having tiny little people trying to kill you! And you kind of hate everything and start terrorizing people to try and feel something and getting into a toxic cycle of self-hate and hate of others and u also have a really big axe. And then you meet a girl who u save from almost certain death and now you're stuck helping her and oh no you like her but you CANT fall in love again because the FIRST time you did that u got CURSED bro, PLUSSS THIS IS UNSPECIFIED MEDIEVAL TIME PEROIDSETTING YOU CANT BE GAY!!! Yeah, she's cool.

Ok, Mira next! She's the girl I was talking about in Sylvia's part. She's a witch (kind of, just mild healing spells) BUT medieval time period, they wanna catch her and prosecute her and pull a Salem on her. (I just realized you have a Celestia pfp oh em gee this fits so well) but yeah they wanna kill her and stuff so she runs face-first into a classic G/t Injured Tiny™ situation and becomes Sylvia's girlfriend problem.

Magnus next!!! He's a little less fleshed out than I'd like, but cmon I wanna write atleast ONE male character, let me have ONEEE!! Ok he's a bit more generic, but yeah. He kinda got cursed like... right in the middle of his town. Like, evil like imperial mages and knights and stuff (bc we hate authority here) kinda wanted to destroy his town for like, more land, and this baker boy idiot was like "nuh-uh >:(" so yeah they RUINED his shit right then in there. Like, the extent of his cursedness is a little more than the rest. He's still the same like cognitively, but he's def a bit more "monstrous" than the rest??? Idk. The main like thing is that he lost the ability to speak (not like he lost his vocabulary and cannot form a sentence, he can write just fine,) but like his biology FORBIDS (not completely, it just like, really hurts) to talk. Like, imagine you swallow a cup of fangs and they just stay there forever. Yeah. His gf, Qiana is SOO unfleshed I'm not even gonna give her a section but literally imagine Mira had an older, more adventurous sister. That's literally her. Her arc is about admitting when you need help, that you can't do everything, and being kinder.

You were talking about shipping for 8 seasons to an anon and it inspired me to understand my feelings after the winter finale. Because while I wasnt happy I was resigned to the end of 5 telling me exactly how I ship Buddie in 6 if they aren't canon at the end. Because I will always ship them but I just know something explosive is coming for them, it's just what does it wrap up with.

Because listen Buddie to me is a minefield right now. Honestly more so then 2 characters I have ever seen. Bombs have been subtly put in place for 3 seasons. The deliberate space, we have only seen Buddie on his balcony, not his home for how long? We haven't seen Buck in Eddies home. I can picture so many scenarios you know? But I'm a little bummed because 5A there were so many scenarios all around a fan fiction writer could have made more emotionally impactful. So in short I am lowering my expectations on the emotional side because the beginning of this was just so not 911. But I really do think we will have resolution that makes me understand how 6 will play out and how much I invest into it.

But I'm Buddie for life. I love all LBGTQ representation but I do think Eddie and Buck are important representation the world needs, or maybe just me lol

Honestly, I am always in favor of all of us each figuring out how it's healthiest for us to ship. At the end of the day, I agree that if Buddie goes canon, that would be so incredibly significant. It's why I wrote a short shipper statement, because I'm positive that they could make actual real difference for the better! But you matter, too. You ship however you feel is best for you to ship! If that means investing a bit less, that's perfectly legit!

Now, just an extra tidbit I can offer is that I don't think we can fully judge 5a before we see 5b. It just feels like the first part of a season was all buildup to that tense moment in 510 where Eddie declared he'd be leaving the 118, and whatever consequences will unfold from that. Which is to say, we're in the middle of an arc and it's hard to judge an arc until it comes to its conclusion. When I brought up waiting 8 seasons for a ship to go canon, I meant to say that when it comes to Buddie, we don't know whether we're in the beginning or middle. We've def had progress with all of those Buddie "bombs" you mentioned, but we don't know whether how long the story is, whether the book we're holding is thick or thin, whether there's 5 or 15, 35 or 50 minutes left for the movie to resolve its action... To me what that means is that even if things aren’t currently where I'd like them to be, I'm aware there might still be so much more to come that will bring things to that place, and I think that's a part of why I'm not feeling anxious, not just yet. IDK if that helps you too, I hope it will, even if just with figuring out how you need to ship Buddie!

like actually tbh? i remember one time i was scrolling through my dash and i saw a like . yangyang fic and i mean like. the banner was pretty, the sections before the "read more" were cohesive and neat and clean, and the summary looked interesting !! so i read it, even though i typically don't read for yangyang ever !! and that ended up being . one of the most enjoyable fics i'd read in a very long time. ((if you're curious, i'm 99% sure i reblogged it to here under the fic recs tag; it is an entirely SFW fic written by someone underage (yes, i checked with her to see if she was okay w me rbing it here once i found out she was a minor) so behave appropriately !!!)) so yeah... tldr: put your heart into your work and the right people will come !!)

*(this post is not mine, but it's a great start for being aware of how your word choice can be more inclusive and less alienating for people of color!! there are many things to be aware of when writing inclusive reader-insert stories besides just race, though, such as body type factors like height, weight, build, etc., hair types, gender identity (i actually saw someone talk about this in the tags a while ago and it made me more cognizant of things like this but, like, if you're writing for a afab reader with she/her pronouns, then specify that before the fic starts!! (for example: instead of writing "jeno x reader" for the pairing, you can say "jeno x fem!reader") otherwise amab readers or people whose pronouns aren't she/her will waste their time at best and, unfortunately, might experience gender dysphoria at worst, y'know? and because we are considerate people, we do not want that.)

also, i feel the need to say that like. no, i do not read people's fics and give them feedback if i don't know them well because i know that i would have a hard time actually being honest; i do have friends on here whose work i've looked at before they posted it bc like . we are already friends and they know me enough to know that i would never intentionally hurt them, y'know?

however!! if you have a specific kind of writing question and you think i can help (and you have already checked google) then i would be up for helping!! but like...i cannot stress this enough... if you come to me with questions that i google and find the answer to within 10 minutes, i'm not gonna be helpful bc... you could have done that yourself y'know? do not ask me, like, "can you explain punctuation rules to me?" or "what's a noun?" Ah, well i don't believe that there's a magical correct amount, and I think it's gonna be different for different ppl and different stories. When I read my earlier stuff I'm just like ok... But you know these characters do have names yea?? You could... Idk just spitballing here mention them outside of dialogue?? I think it's hard to figure out how and how much you wanna do that with fairly tight third person pov though, and you just gotta try things out and see what works.

And then, I think you'd have to try pretty hard to be using characters' names too much TBH.

But then again, in the gg context, the use of names (particularly for beth and rio) is v interesting and it's something that's fun to play with. Like, in the show beth basically doesn't use rio's name (pls pls a scene of her being like wait what IS your name again man??) so depending on the type of story it maybe feels a bit disingenuous to have her using it a lot/it's just fun to play with. (for example, in dirty dirty game, which is from Beth's pov, I wrote it as her being totes comfortable with referring to rio as rio in her internal monologue if it's about worcrime stuff, but all R-HIM if it was about sexy stuff.)

And I think in the original draft of climbing up the walls (which is from rio's pov and post s2 and he's in a Mood) I had him barely referring to eliza/beth by name in the narration (it was all like that bitch, this moron, that fucking maniac, the insane kook, MY MORTAL ENEMY THAT I AM PLAGUED BY DESPITE DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT woe is me woe is me woe is me etc etc etc) for the bulk of it, with it softening throughout. but then I was like idk is this dumb?? And changed it. (I think the affectation might still be thinly there but def not how it was originally.) I think if I was writing it now I'd have more confidence in it and stick to it.

Well to quote one of the most irritating characters of all time, clichés are clichés for a reason.

Plus, a cliché isn't always cliché?? Yknow, San junipero woulda maybe felt more cliché if it wasn't about two ladies etc.

AND I think you can involve something tropey/typical, but if it's not in the usual way, maybe that doesn't come across as cliché?

Idk if there's any in particular that I strive to include (well beyond the tropes of like brio, and my own personal fanon tics: RIO STEALS BETH'S ROBES AND TRASHTALKS HER COFFEE, RUBY WILL MOCK BAD SPELLING/GRAMMAR MERCILESSLY, BETH MAKES WEIRD PUNS ON HER NAME AND IS VERY PROUD OF THEM etc etc).

And idk if there are any im against, beyond... I guess I don't come at stories with a very tropey lens? I'm not like: OK I am going to write an angst now, or a bed sharing with no sexy times. I don't think it's an endeavour to avoid clichés, but I suppose it's also not an attempt to grasp them?

50. Weirdest story idea you’ve ever had.

For some reason, my brain read this as 'read' instead of 'had', so here's my answer for fics and fic ideas I've seen out there first, then I'll get to my own ideas xD

My immediate thought was about the sex lives of various innanimate objects that I would have never even considered to write about in any way ever but um the Internet can be a very strange place xD

Apart from that? Probably the story where Hogwarts has access to a spaceship. And like, what's even weirder is that the story makes complete sense in itself??

For my own story ideas: idk about weird?? The thing is that all my story ideas start out fairly tame and canon compliant-ish and then get longer and longer and AU-er and crossoverisher the longer I let them simmer instead of actually writing anything, and my headcanon crossover multiverse is probably a very strange place for anyone but me, but I couldn't pinpoint any particular weird parts of it, really?

Weirdest one-shot ideas: idk, does Crowley (good omens) pole dancing count as weird? Writing for poolnoodel-level rarepairs of one-episode minor characters in crime shows? Making a character in PotC that I don't even remember the canon name of anymore genderbent to have a lesbian couple? Idk! Somebody tell me what my weirdest fics are? XD

I mean, I probably also had a bunch of weird fic ideas that got discarded because of that, but then my memory is too bad to remember those, hell I had to look at my ao3 fandom list to even remember the above!

Wait, there are some fucked up TOG ideas that haven't made it out of the draft stages (yet), namely one that I tend to call the Andronilynh pain sex fever dream (and have in fact already shared the WIP of on the discord), where mortal!Andy gets injured and ends up with a prosthetic arm or leg, but in the end she regains her immortality and the prosthetic falls off because the limb grows back, but slowly and painfully and basically Nile and Quynh fuck her through it to ease the pain... and another one about trans woman!Andy being unable to transition because of the immortality, with dysphoria and blood gore body horror and maybe a (happy?!) ending of cutting herself in half and operating on the bottom half before piecing herself together again to trick her body into thinking it's correct that way... Not being a trans woman myself idk whether to write that, I mean it was just a plot bunny and while I don't read gore, when for once I have a gory fic idea I do tend to write it because like. It can't fucking terrify me anymore than it already does in my mind?? But again not a trans woman and while fic is not mainstream media and doesn't have to worry about representation and shit as much, and I'd never tell anyone not to write a fic about something themselves when they have an idea for a story just because it's not their own experience... I still feel kinda weird about it but I Def wouldn't want to ask a trans woman about it and force her to think about my potentially triggering fic idea?? Then I'd rather just write it and tag appropriately... We'll see.

52. How did writing change you?

I'm not sure whether writing itself changed me very much? Or rather, I've been coming up with stories and also writing them down since such a young age that it's hard to tell whether any changes are from writing in particular.

Posting fic changed me in being less of a perfectionist even in what I share publicly, in being kinder both to myself and to others about what we create, and to really understand that being nice goes a long way and one thoughtless comment can ruin someone's day, and to try to never be that person.
