So I’m probably gonna get stick for this but something about a lot of the wags being invited for the Charlotte Tilbury f1 Academy event just rubs me the wrong way. Like F1 Academy is meant to be (and doing a good job) at highlighting women in motorsport and Susie’s doing an incredible job at it all, but the wags being invited to an event just for freebies and to ‘promote’ F1 Academy just seems all kinds of wrong.

For one, (and take this as the bitchy comment it is) none of them are these famous influencers they seem to think they are 🤷🏼‍♀️ so they don’t really have the audience to promote anything to bc their audience is basically full of fan girls of the drivers who most likely already know about F1 Academy and what it’s all about. Plus none of them are actually promoting it they’re just posting their pics with their make up and pr goodies and tagging. That’s not really promoting. I’d be more convinced if they had at least videos of them chatting to the drivers, answering questions to prove they’ve actually watched races, etc. Correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve not seen any of them really showing proper support for it beforehand but suddenly they’re all fans lol? Also I find it interesting that there are 2 girlfriends on the grid who are actual female athletes - Lily Muni He and Tiffany Cromwell. But neither of them are involved in the event nor the pic of the wags on the track today, when they are both there too. These 2 are the perfect way to help bring in more female fans/females in motorsports or just sports in general. They have audiences of their own, not just their bf’s fans and actually know how to engage in enticing new people in - they’ve pushed themselves through in their indvidual mainly male dominated sports. I would’ve loved to have seen them interact with the drivers and get involved! (I’m aware it very much could be them deciding not to but when the only 2 athletes aren’t involved and the other wags are.. Mm it looks strange to me). Having just wannabe influencers who are already from very privileged backgrounds be the faces of this latest promotion is just pure stupidity if I’m honest. Not one little girl is gonna look at that and think ‘yeah I’m gonna work really hard and get into motorsports!’ All they’ll see is flashy lifestyles and easy money. And let’s be clear, I’m not here to purely hate on them it’s just so disappointing tbh. The money spent on the pr freebies for the wags could’ve been used to spend it on the current F1 Academy drivers or the up and coming young girls not wannabe influencers who will keep it on their ig stories for 24 hours then never speak of it again bc they’ve got their picture showing their ‘support’ there now. Idk really it all just gives me a massive ick and tbh I might as well just say it bc I’m digging myself a hole here anyway lol but none of these women seem genuine at all.

I just wanna see more real hard work and determination and actual role models for the younger generation of girls not the glitz and glamour this latest wave of wags/F1 in general has brought.

Metal Lords: movie review

summary of plot (no spoilers): a dorky awkward kid named Kevin is friends with this wannabe metalhead named Hunter. they're starting a band together but because of their flaws, their progress fumbles a bit. however, after finding out about their schools Battle of the Bands, they start working to prepare for the contest. as they improve their skills, they also improve their social lives and their own personalities

general thoughts: I GENUINELY LOVED THIS MOVIE SM????? god if youre into movies about a buncha flawed misfit friends then this is definitely a movie i'd recommend. the first few bits are a little awkward because you can kinda feel that the actors are still getting into their roles, but sticking it to the end is ABSOLUTELY worth it. all of the characters were so lovable and it genuinely filled that "i wanna see a movie about people just being people" hole in my heart. i still have no idea how to describe those kind of movies, but i feel like if yknow then youll know.

i also really loved hunter. like there was a lotta scenes where i wanted somebody to punch him in the face, but he was honestly still lovable even throughout those scenes and he started improving a lot near the end, which was really nice to see. he obviously wasn't completely redeemable since there were still a lot of things he could've done better, but i feel like the fact that he didn't completely become perfect is what made me love his character a lot more. it felt really real to me. he isn't perfect, but he genuinely wants to make up for the shit he's pulled and he's absolutely trying to show it, and isn't that what living's all about anyways? either way, we love hunter in this household <3333

i hate that people fucking younger than me on here get to have the absolute freedom to watch all the videos famous killers filmed, gore videos in general on any open gore website like watchpeopledie for example and get to have fun and satisfy themselves without actually acting out on anything because they’ve already been fulfilled with some sort of satisfaction, im 16 and get all sorts of media blocked and monitored on my phone, apps and websites. not because i did anything they just want my life as limited and mindless as possible. as if it’ll make me any normal or better as a human? maybe try not to brag about watching it and not showing them on ur blog. it’s irritating and makes me feel unwelcomed and unknowledgeable about certain cases and only leaves me itching to see it, if u have a useless side account or something just post it on there and reblog it on ur main or just use the RIGHT tags for it and leave it on there all alone if ur able to ? alot of people have the same issues as i do but is ashamed to talk about it because we sound like children who need to be taken control of or mentally ill “kids” even though majority of us are only two years away from turning 18. its better to see and read like all the other people on this community who get to have that rather than trying to act it out right at a age like this right? hii!!! okay you asked me about two songs i was dying to talk about (fascination and this masquerade). sorry for taking some time to reply, i wanted to dedicate myself to this lol. for almost all of these i'll have to talk about other songs as well because of the way i structured the playlist following a character arc of sorts. it's long!!!

celebrity skin: yeah!! the lyrics are pretty straightforward, but i placed it in a spot so the grunge-y guitar riffs would come out as jarring (right after an abba song and with no comparable examples up to that point in the playlist). claire not only grew up in the 90s, but her high school friend group was comprised of two melancholic goth kids and a self important wannabe filmmaker (and goth-adjacent). she was the preppy token friend, visually. in reality her interests aligned a lot with theirs. i think her interests section on her myspace page show this a little. horror, gothic literature, goth culture and 90s/early 00s alt scene really influenced her since she was surrounded by it almost all the time. also seen throughout her film career. back to the placing on the playlist, it works as a divide after many up-beat, positive (?) songs. most of the songs prior to ir characterise claire, her wants and her way of interacting with people. and then there's a jaded, grunge/alt rock song about being a star in hollywood. since the playlist follows a narrative, i think this would fit right around the time she's almost expelled from hollywood u because of backstabbing, petty tatics and because the industry favours some over others. she knew this, of course, but going through it it's different.

she's a carnival: one of my favourite songs from siouxsie lol. i think it serves to further characterise her/people's perception of her. she's fun. she's an amusement show. a fête.

is she a person, though? does she exist only to fulfill your fantasies? it is true that she revels on public attention, but what does this attention transforms her into? it comes right after bubblegum bitch as well, which is also a song i interpret being about others' perception of her.

this is especially in regards to men, i think. claire is a serial dater (for a pletora of reasons) and i don't think she feels like men see her. florence's dream girl evil would fit here nicely too. men fantasise her, then see her as evil once this fantasy is broken (queentex, latex; madonna/whore)(a portrait of a poison)(you like me better in your head)(je suis la belle dame sans merci!).

and not so subtle, but venice carnivals are famous for their masks. theatre is symbolised by masks. these three talk about archetypes: film archetype, psych archetype, etc. she says she doesn't care. is it true?

drive my car: also forms a trio along with material girl and money, money, money. claire likes money lol and she likes scamming men. <- not outright scamming them, but if they're going to use her she might as well get something out of them. the opening is great. "asked a girl what she wanted to be // she said, baby can't you see // i wanna be famous, a star of the screen // but you can do something in between". she states her goal and men are not the first thing on her mind. they're simply a distraction.

fascination: i've loved the beaches since 2017 this is not important to the ask but damn i love them so much. anyway. this is from side b, after her moment of reflection in what is it about men (last song from side a). in that song, claire consciously acknowledges her behavioural patterns/fears/thoughts about relationships/herself. the next song is national anthem. she wants to be someone's national anthem. and later on you have fascination. this last bit of the playlist is about her relationship with hunt.

this is a song about her approaching this relationship (it's not a relationship yet) in the same way she has always done: lightheartedly and without much thought put into it. it's not serious. why would she be into her professor? lol. it's just a crush, don't be stupid. right after fascination comes stupid cupid. it's the first song in the playlist where she approaches romance in a non-cynical way and it's very silly and it was done on purpose. she feels silly and she's acting in a way she doesn't usually do. she doesn't run after men, this is stupid. and then the next songs approach the subject much more directly and without putting on a front.

also this comes straight out of a scene in red carpet diaries. i've waited years to post this screenshot.

this masquerade: this one works as a reference to hollywood u: the first time hunt and claire have a moment together is in a masquerade ball and they're both wearing masks. literally, figuratively, everything in between.

(i made my friend transcribe this to me so she'd read hollywood u lol). his line about her "seducing" him also call back to femme fatale/bubblegum bitch/she's a carnival. and what is he talking about? do you want her to believe he did not recognise her because of a mask? have you seen claire??!! lol. lmao even. loser. i like her lines about him knowing it was her subconsciously and nothing clouding his feelings and i think it fits here. yeah he wanted it to be her. also psych major moment but you must've noticed there's a theme going through all of these songs.

it's also just representative of their relationship up to the point they actually get together. they're both playing a game they're bound to lose in the end, especially if it's not addressed.

👖 — cirendil is the earnest nerd that’s actually failing half her classes but she really wants to be in the robotics club (the thalmor) and she’s too nice (her parents offer to find the club) so they reluctantly let her in. she never builds a successful robot but after graduation she has a highly lucrative sports career.

megana is the kind of bratty rich girl heiress of a wannabe-high-tech company that doesn’t actually have any close friends and acts out at school because she’s really lonely at home. after graduation she secretly leaves the country for art college (WU, winterhold university), thus abandoning her family’s wealth, but she actually becomes a really famous painter with more money and prestige than her family and her mom tries to reinherit her (meg says no)

🌍 — megana isn’t fervently religious or anything, but she has a baseline belief in the imperial pantheon, + belief in a somewhat imperial-skewed version of other peoples’ magic-related gods (such as magnus). of the imperials, she appreciates julianos (as the god associated with magic) and arkay (as the patron god of cheydinhal) the most. she has a strained relationship with zenithar, because her mother and grandfather prayed to him often and forced her to pray too.

azug has an odd relationship with religion, as a city-raised orc whose nuclear family toed the line between tradition and assimilation. her paternal family is only a couple generations removed from orsinium, where her great-grandmother was raised, while her maternal family has lived in cyrodiil for a while. her mothers family had turned to either quiet worship of malacath, or simply raising their children to go to imperial temples, before azug was born. her fathers family tries to maintain whatever tradition they can, but unfortunately, the belief has still gone down by the time of his generation. azug is raised with a sort of… both and nothing religion, and she, personally, didn’t think much of either growing up. as an adult in skyrim, she tries to connect with both malacath (through the strongholds she discovers) and akatosh, because of her status as dragonborn and feeling she owes him

✨ — azug likes a lot of things; partying, brawling, adventure. one thing that makes her really happy is just sitting in a tavern with her friends; could be the bannered mare near home, could be a tavern they’ve never been to. she just likes having them with her for her wandering.

cirendil is happiest when she’s helping someone. especially after leaving the thalmor and her slow disillusionment with them, it makes her feel absolved to help people, even with the simplest of things

Taylor found a way to make the “Paris” song both a Kardashian diss track and a Lily love song, as well as take us back to 2016 again, an important time in Taylor’s life. Like other songs I think are about Lily (Maroon, Gorgeous, Delicate, Cornelia Street), Taylor seems to look back on her time with Lily fondly. The Lily songs never seem to be about betrayal or anger. They are loving and seem to recall a fun and memorable time in Taylor’s life. Let’s look at the lyrics . . .

“Your ex-friend’s sister met someone at a club and he kissed her”

Lily was friends with Kim Kardashian and especially Kendall Jenner in 2015 (and Kendall beyond then). Lily went with them to a Kanye West concert in Paris in 2015.

When snakegate and Taylor’s cancellation happened in 2016, Lily stood by Taylor and started wearing the expensive Bulgari snake jewelry. I think the lyric above is about Kim and Kourtney’s trip to Paris fashion week in October 2016. Kourtney famously met Z-list boyfriend Younes Bendjima at a nightclub on this trip.

“Flashing lights” might be another Kimye reference since it’s one of Kanye’s first and biggest hits. Also could refer to the paps or the cameras flashing on a model.

I don’t think the song is about Taylor and Lily actually being in Paris together. They might have been at some point, the 2016 Victoria’s Secret fashion show that Lily was in, where the famous angel ring was given out, was in Paris that November right after Thanksgiving. But the “Paris” in the song is about a feeling of being somewhere magical with someone magical. The city serves as a double entendre in the song because it winks and nods to Kim and Kourtney’s trip there in October 2016 and helps place the timeframe for this midnight in Taylor’s life.

It had been over a week since I had started living with Shams and Omar.

I had not heard a word from my dad. Maybe he was too busy to show up or did not care enough to do so. After all I did not have my phone to get any messages or calls from him.

By now everyone at school knew that I was hanging out with Shams. To my surprise it did not bother them too much. After the initiate shock they just pretended that nothing had changed and treated me like usually.

“I know what I want to do now”, I declared to Shams and Omar while we were eating dinner together.

“About what?”, Omar wondered.

“Everything basically. But I need a phone for that. Can I borrow one of yours?”, I requested.

“Sure”, my girlfriend agreed immediately. “Just take it. You know the code.”

I thanked her and followed her offer right after finishing my food.

“What are you planning?”, Shams questioned.

“Posting a new video”, I enlightened them. “It's been a while after all.”

“You revealed that like it was a big deal”, Omar noted.

“It is. Just sit down and listen”, I instructed them.

I placed the phone in a way I was fully filmed.

Then I took a deep breath and tapped onto the live stream button and sat down on the couch in front of the camera.

“Hey everyone! Before you start wondering I'm not at home. And I know I haven't posted in a while. That is because my phone has been confiscated by my dad. You're probably asking yourself what all of this is about. Well … sit back and listen because I'm going to tell you my true story now. You heard me right. Everything I showed you before was pretty much a facade. I wanted to be famous and popular. I wanted everyone to believe that my life is perfect. That I'm perfect. But that's simply not true.”

I sent Shams a soft smile, which was encountered by an encouraging nod from her side.

“I tried to be perfect, pretty much my whole life. You all know my successful dad. I had to take after him. He expected that, too. So I tried my best. I studied for most of the hours of my day. Straight A's and nothing less, otherwise I was failing. I built up this social media life. Everyone wanted to be with or like me. It was addicting. The fear of failure and rejection even led me to hide one of my most important relationships.”

I sent Shams a questioning look. She understood and sat down next to me.

“Shams and I have always been close. For those of you who don't know her, she's Omar's sister. I hid her because I couldn't hurt my image, because people call her a weirdo. But I love that she's different. That she's herself in a world full of fake people and wannabes like me.

Isn't that what we all want? To be accepted as the person we truly are? So why are we always judging so quickly instead of really getting to know somebody first?

What I wanna say is … I'm sick of living up to everyones expectations and I'm refusing to continue playing this game. As long as I have Shams and Omar, people who love me, the real me, I'm gonna be alright. I don't have to care about everyone else. And you should be, too. Let's change the rules ourselves! We have the power to do so.

It's all so clear in front of me right now. You know … a few days ago I was sick of it all. The pretending, the endless struggle to be perfect. I understood what was important to me when my dad basically locked me up at home to improve my grades after I got a B. He made me feel like I wasn't good enough. Like my total worth was tied to my accomplishments, my status. But that's just not true.

It was time for me to take my life into my own hands. And honestly … my life may not be picture perfect right now. But it's never been better.

People call me an influencer and my new principal once asked what kind of influence we wanna have on people. I want to inspire you to enjoy your life instead of making it look like you're enjoying it online. If you can achieve that, put your phone aside and create your imperfect and yet perfect life off-screen, then you're so much more successful than anyone you paint to be perfect.

·͙⠀⠀hi there ! i'm em { she/her | +21 } and i'm excited to finally be back here at wannabe ( for like the 4th or 5th time?? idr ). i bring to you a new muse that i've been wanting to have for a little while now that has been super loud in my head for at least the past 3-4 months. kang insu. he's my sr media wannabe who comes from a wealthy family ( his father isn't very approving of his 'dream' and refuses to really acknowledge any of it while saying that insu will only bring shame to the family if he continues being 'stubborn' ). he's currently in a band which is a secret from his father ( basically insu has made it seem as if he gave up on his dream of being an idol, planning to really hit his father with the news if he ever debuts, sort of like an 'in your face' moment of sorts ).

i know this is late for an introduction, i usually have one up within an hour of being accepted, but i've been tired from work the past few days and decided to hold off until i was really ready to get things rolling. c: below i'll be listing a few 'fun facts' about insu ( some of which can even be connections/plot ideas and will be labeled as so ). so, if you'd like to plot and get something going for insu and your muse, feel free to like this post and i'll slide into your dm's ! ( also, i apologize for having it set to where he can only receive dm's from those he's following, i forgot to turn that off but it's open now )

insu can come off as the 'i can't stand you' or the 'i don't wanna be here right now' type of person, though really he just has resting bitch face ( only because he lacks the 'fatherly love' and was forced to keep up 'appearances' due to his family background ). very deep down he just wants to be acknowledged and told he's doing a good job... just don't pat his head or anything of the sort because he'll glare ( if looks could kill..... )

when it comes to his mother, she the more supportive out of the family due to having once been a famous pianist. she retired from the industry though after having insu so that she could focus on being a mother and taking care of the family. you could say this is sort of where insu gets his love for music from.

when insu is around his closest friends, he still has that same 'resting bitch face' but he will crack a smile ( and even laugh ) at times when he feels like it. though, only one person has ever really known why he's like this and that's only because they've been best friends since they were little. ( cue childhood friends plot here ! )

from the moment that he joined the band that he's currently in, he's managed to keep his identity hidden with a black facemask and caps/hats ( kinda like how superman can 'hide his identity' with just a pair of glasses? ). this makes it even easier for him to hide this from his father for a few reasons: firstly because his father doesn't listen to music. secondly because he plays the guitar so no one has ever heard his voice besides his own bandmates.

his daily style is a bit more laid back and casual compared to when he's either performing with the band or having to attend the occasional events that his father forces him to attend. gotta keep up with the 'loving' father-son appearance. right?

he's only really ever had a couple ex's which most likely ended due to his 'lack of affection' or lack of being able to really show how he's feeling ( thanks a lot 'dad' ) so he doesn't really bother with beating around the bush now when it comes to rejecting anyone who approaches him. ( open for both ex's and any crushes on him ! )

insu did have a childhood crush long ago when he was a lot younger ( think elementary school/first 'love' type of thing ) but it was probably one-sided and never known to the other person ( another open plot idea to work with ! c: )

he not only wants to be an idol to show his dad that he can do what he loves and can make it on his own. he honestly wants to make music, sing/dance, and just be in the spotlight while receiving love from fans for what he does. it's not just some silly dream for him, it's his passion and he's more than determined to make this his future career if ever given the chance to do so. ( me being the mun that i am, i hope he fails a few times just to torture him a bit hehehe )

other than all of that, or rather those basic facts, insu is pretty much an 'open book' that i'm ready to develop over time and have him go through the ups and downs of going after his dream. this means that i'm open to any and all types of plots/connections whether they're cute ( or at least as 'cute' as they can possibly be with this rbf boy ), angsty, etc. so feel free to hit me up any time because i'm down for getting him out there and even having him ( eventually ) open up more. if you can get him to smile/laugh more? well, that would be greatly appreciated !

On their drive to Benoit’s place they talk and laugh about everything and nothing. Benoit feels himself falling harder by minute.

Marta puts on ‘Wannabe’ from the Spice Girls and surprising to Marta, Benoit starts to sing along.

“Didn’t take you for a guy who knows the lyrics to the Spice Girls, Blanc” Marta giggles.

“First of all, I am a man who knows a lot of music. Second of all, are we back to calling each other by last name, Miss Cabrera?” My smile growing bigger.

“You are full of surprises, but no I just like your last name.”

“Oh, want to steal it?” I wink at her and realize I maybe shouldn’t make jokes like that yet. Before I can say anything else Marta is already answering the question.

“In the future, yes sir Blanc” She kisses my cheek and my heart feels like it’s exploding.

“Remember when I said you were a bad murderer?” I ask randomly.

“Yes”

“I take it back”

“Why is that?” Marta askes confused

“Because you are going to be the death of me, sweetheart” Marta blushes.

“Even though that was very cute, I don’t want you dying yet” Marta giggles.

“Well, I’m surely not planning on anytime soon.” I laugh.

We drive for a little longer till we arrive at my place.

It’s pretty big for someone who lives alone.

“So, this is where the famous detective Blanc lives then?” Marta chuckles.

“Well, yes, are you surprised?” I ask curiously.

“Hmmm, I didn’t really have any expectations, so I don’t really know.” She giggles.

“Well let’s enter, shall we?” I hold out my arm.

“Well yes sir” She slips her arm around mine and follows my lead.

We quickly get all my stuff and sit down in the living room.

“You want to have lunch here? You could teach me some more cooking!” Marta says enthusiastically.

“Oh yes of course, darling! Great idea!” My smile grows bigger.

“Wanna eat something like pasta or something?”

“Sounds good, let’s get started, love”

We start cooking, just as I was seasoning the meat Marta suddenly turned me around and hugged me.

“You okay sweetheart?” I hug her back and I feel like I’m in heaven.

“Yes, I just love hugging you to be honest, makes me feel safe”

I can’t believe my ears. Such a lovely woman, what did I do to deserve this.

“Well I’m glad and I’m always down for hugs”

They finish cooking and start eating.

“Damn, we make a great team. This is so good, darling!” I say happily.

“Oh god yes, this is so much better than instant noodles” Marta laughs.

-Some time later.

“I should stop eating now, got to watch my figure. It’s so good though” I complain.

i hate that people fucking younger than me on here get to have the absolute freedom to watch all the videos famous killers filmed, gore videos in general on any open gore website like watchpeopledie for example and get to have fun and satisfy themselves without actually acting out on anything because they’ve already been fulfilled with some sort of satisfaction, im 16 and get all sorts of media blocked and monitored on my phone, apps and websites. not because i did anything they just want my life as limited and mindless as possible. as if it’ll make me any normal or better as a human? maybe try not to brag about watching it and not showing them on ur blog. it’s irritating and makes me feel unwelcomed and unknowledgeable about certain cases and only leaves me itching to see it, if u have a useless side account or something just post it on there and reblog it on ur main or just use the RIGHT tags for it and leave it on there all alone if ur able to ? alot of people have the same issues as i do but is ashamed to talk about it because we sound like children who need to be taken control of or mentally ill “kids” even though majority of us are only two years away from turning 18. its better to see and read like all the other people on this community who get to have that rather than trying to act it out right at a age like this right?
