when your ex, who you left due to all kinds of abuse, and you moved states away (16 hours to be exact), messages you on Facebook Messenger bc he stalked and hunted you down 🙃 and now you’re paranoid even more (you already have a diagnosed schizo disorder) that he’s gonna try to hurt you somehow or your family back home in the state you left bc you told him off and blocked him

AYAYUI IDOL AU: Chapter 1
// I present to you… MY FIRST EVER FANFIC! It’s inspired by these headcanons and these posts. As mentioned before, in this story, the Sakamakis are simply regular idols with a vampire-themed concept; they’re not actually vampires or related. Since I noticed how much you all enjoy this kind of content and have been so supportive, I thought you might like a fanfic based on it. ☺️
I’m by no means a professional writer, and my style leans more towards the visual novel/otome game format. Even so, I hope you’ll like it! 💕

Voice announcement: Ladies and gentlemen, we have now arrived at our destination.
Before you disembark, please take a moment to ensure you have all your personal belongings with you. For your safety, mind the gap between the train and the platform edge as you exit.
We sincerely thank you for choosing our services and travelling with us. It has been our pleasure to serve you, and we hope to welcome you aboard again soon. Take care!
Yui: ( Eh? Is this…—! )
— eyes widen —
I’m here… I’m finally here!
Yui’s Monologue
I can’t believe my dream is actually coming true! All this time, this seemed like a childish wish but right now I truly am in Tokyo…!
Uuh… I’m getting a bit emotional, but can you blame me? It simply feels… surreal.
I never thought my father would agree to let me join a work exchange program in such a massive and dynamic city.
To be honest, I was half expecting him to say no, but it seems he believes in me more than I thought.
Knowing that he trusts me this much… it really makes me want to work even harder to prove he made the right choice.
Yes, that’s so. I will try my best to make father proud!
— takes big breath —
Yui: Nice to meet you, Tokyo. Let’s make this journey one to remember.
Place: Studio
Photographer: And~… pose! Ah yes, exactly like that! Keep on, keep on!
Ayato: ( Man, this shit is so tiring at this point. )
— smiles falsely —
Photographer: W-Wonderful…! Another one, thank you!
— keeps taking pictures —
Ayato: ( Can this woman stop blinding me with that flashlight already? It’s past 11 pm… )
Photographer: Now, a profile sho——
Manager: Hold on.
Pardon my intrusion, but I believe we already have enough pictures for today. Don't you think so?
Photographer: Eh? But we just got star— Oh my, it’s almost 12 am!?
G-Geez, my apologies. I guess the saying “time flies when you’re having fun” must really apply here.
— winks at Ayato —
Ayato: ( Gross! )
Manager: If more promotional pictures are required, we can extend the photoshoot to tomorrow. Watanabe-san, would it be possible for you to arrive earlier if that is the case?
Photographer: With such eye candy around, who could resist spending more time with him~?
Fufu, just kidding. I'll contact the director and get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.
Until then, have a good night! Bye-bye~!
— leaves —
Ayato: Haa… thanks goodness! One more photo, and I might’ve completely lost it.
Manager: I understand completely. Given your schedule, it’s clear you’re quite overworked. Nevertheless, it’s impressive how you still manage to perform so well.
Ayato: Heh… thanks.
— rubs eyes —
Manager: You look a bit tired, Ayato-san. Rest assured, the limousine should be arriving soon.
Ayato: Right, the limo is on its——
( Fuck! I can’t believe I almost forgot about it! )
Wait! Now that I think about it, I’ve got something else to take care of.
So… don’t mind me! Go ahead and take the limo; I’ll call for another one later.
Manager: Haa… Ayato-san.
You're not planning to do something that could get you into trouble, are you?
Ayato: O-Of course not! It’s just… no, it’s nothing important. Just a silly little thing I remembered I had to solve.
— tries to leave —
Manager: Ayato-san!
Ayato: Huh?
Manager: Do NOT let anyone see you, understood?
— Ayato nods and leaves —
???: You’re late.
Ayato: …!
Man, you almost gave me a heart attack!
Laito: My bad~. You came prepared at least, didn’t you?
Ayato: Yeah, yeah.
— puts cap and mask on —
Laito: Nfu, let’s go, shall we?
Place: Street
Yui: Uuh… come on! Why is no taxi in sight?
( It’s been two hours and I still couldn’t find my way to the Airbnb. )
( I knew Tokyo was huge, but I wasn’t expecting the transportation system to be this complicated… )
— looks at sky —
( It’s already late, huh? )
( I wonder if it’s safe for a girl to roam on these streets at this hour. Well, at least I hope it is, otherwise… )
Place: Private Night Club
Laito: Two Cosmopolitans. One for me, and one for that very fine lady over there, nfu.
Ayato: Another glass of Tequila.
Laito: Heh, another one? Is this the fifth by chance?
Ayato: I had a busy week, okay?
Laito: Ah, of course you did. After all, our Ayato-kun is the IT boy of this generation. Always swamped with brand deals, while the rest of us barely get a crumb~.
Ayato: …Not funny.
Laito: C’mon, don’t take it too seriously.
— pats his back —
I doubt any of us could care less about brand deals anyway. The idol job already pays well enough, and with barely any time for ourselves, why would we want to give up even more of our freedom?
Ayato: ( It’s not like it’s my choice though. )
Well, I can’t deny that the love I get is cool and all, but sometimes… hmm, how do I put it? It feels like people only like me because I’m an idol, y’know?
Laito: That’s to be expected, isn’t it? Fans often form a one-sided connection with idols simply because we’re constantly visible and accessible through the media, without really knowing who we are or what we’re capable of.
On top of that, you’re the visual, the face everyone admires. Who wouldn’t be drawn to someone who's not only stunning but also famous? It’s like the perfect package for embodying every girl’s fantasy.
Ayato’s monologue
Laito… he always knows what to say.
Seriously, this guy is so aware of everything around him to the point that it’s becoming unsettling.
And the worst part? He’s not just talking—he’s right, which is why it almost hurts to hear it.
At the end of the day, we idols are just puppets, carefully crafted to feed into the fans’ delusions. They don’t see us for who we truly are, but rather as a fantasy they can cling to.
And we, caught in the spotlight, are forced to live out that role.
Before becoming an idol, I was surrounded by people who kept me around because of my looks. At first, the amount of attention felt good, but as I mature, I realize just how hollow that really is.
I can’t help but wonder… if it weren’t for my appearance or status, would anyone actually treat me nicely? Would anyone be willing to accept me, flaws and all?
Heh… now I just sound stupid. As long as I’m an idol, I doubt I’ll get my answer anytime soon.
Waitress: Here we go, gentlemen. The Cosmopolitan and the Tequila.
Laito: Hello, earth to Ayato-kun, are you still in there?
— waves in front of his eyes —
Ayato: Yeah, yeah. I was just spacing out a bit.
Laito: Nfu, cheers.
Ayato: Cheers.
— they start drinking —
Ayato: Ngh…!
( My chest… it started aching! )
Laito: Hm, you good?
Ayato: Y-Yeah… I just— Ngh!
( It’s getting worse! )
I need some fresh air, that’s all.
— quickly puts on mask and cap —
I’ll be right back.
— quickly goes outside —
( Haa… Haa… what is happening…!? )
Agh… fuck!
( It hurts…! Could this be…—— )
— eyes widen —
( No… No, don’t tell me this is a real heart attack! )
Hnn… Ngh!
( What… what should I do now!? )
???: Quick! Please, drink this!!
— hands him water —
Ayato: Huh…?
— takes it and starts drinking —
???: A-Are you feeling better? I got another bottle in case you need it too.
Ayato: Haa… Haa… It’s okay now, all good.
???: Are you sure…? You really seemed in a lot of pain.
Ayato: Yeah… no worries.
( This girl… she just saved my life, didn’t she? )
By the way, uhm… thanks for that.
???: A-Ah, it’s nothing, really.
As far as I recall from my father, drinking water after alcohol can help reduce chest pain and lessen the severity of a hangover. I’m glad to see that it actually works.
Ayato: Heck yeah, I’m glad to see that it worked too, otherwise who knows how I would have ended up.
— the girl giggles —
???: You should be more careful though. Drinking too much alcohol can be very dangerous.
Ayato: ( Okay, mom. )
Yeah, yeah, I got it. I’m not usually like that.
Moreover… why exactly did you help me?
???: Eh? What do you mean?
Ayato: ( Could it be that she actually recognized me? )
( My face is practically hidden behind the mask and cap, and we’re in the dark, so there’s no way she could have, right? But if she did… )
???: Uuh… I suppose it was out of pure instinct.
Ayato: Instinct, huh?
???: Yup. You see, I heard you struggling, so there was no way I could brush that off.
Ayato: Hmm… But wait a minute, what were you doing all alone at this hour?
( What if she’s a stalker then? )
???: Ah… uhm… T-That’s a bit embarrassing to say out loud.
Ayato: Oh, come on, you straight up saw me about to drop dead from drinking Tequila. There’s no way this could be more embarrassing than that.
???: Actually… today’s my first day in Tokyo, and I’ve been struggling for almost 3 hours just trying to get to my Airbnb.
I tried taking the subway, but there were way too many lines, and I got lost at some point.
As for taxis, every time I tried to flag one down, the driver just ignored me.
Ayato: ( Nevermind, I’m taking it back. This might truly be more embarrassing. )
Pfft, why didn’t you call for a cab then?
???: I couldn’t find any reliable number…
Ayato: Hmm… Alright then.
I just arranged one for you. You’ll just have to tell them your location and wait for them to get you there. There’s also no need for you to pay.
— lends her money —
???: E-Eh!? Thank you… thank you so much! But I’m sorry, I just can’t accept the money!
Ayato: Nah, it’s fine, seriously. After all, you’re the one who helped me first.
Just promise me you won’t tell anyone about what happened today. Understood?
— the girl nods —
Ayato: Heh, great. Well, I guess it was nice to meet you. Now it’s time for me to return.
???: W-Wait! I forgot to catch your name!
Ayato: …!
( So she really doesn’t know me? )
It’s——
( No… it’s too risky. )
Oh look, the cab arrived! You should hurry up!
???: But—
( He left…? )
Yui’s monologue
As the taxi started moving, I found myself looking back, almost subconsciously, hoping to catch one last glimpse of that boy.
Today had been exhausting, but despite the strange circumstances in which we met, those brief minutes spent with him were oddly comforting.
I wonder who he is and what his life is like. It feels a bit silly, I know, to be thinking so much about someone whose name I don’t even know.
But there was something in his presence that made me feel in a way I haven’t felt in a long time.
Whatever it was, it stuck with me, lingering in my thoughts even after we parted ways.
My journey has only just begun, and yet I can’t shake the feeling that meeting him was no coincidence.
I really hope I get the chance to cross paths with him again.

Taking a break from our regular scheduled program to post this Fivesoka ficlet!!
@tealmisthams this is for you (for no particular reason other than I feel like it because I know you’ll appreciate it)
The only other Fivesoka content I’ve written besides for the Fivesoka creation event and it is a few years old at this point, but I still like it a lot!
Modern AU, prompt was “Really dating , but everyone thinks it’s fake”. It’s pretty short, but still fun (I think so and I hope you do too)
.
Fives didn’t hesitate to jump up and answer the door as soon as the doorbell went off.
“I’ve got it!” he shouted through the house, running to answer it.
On the other side stood Anakin and Ahsoka, as expected.
“Hey guys!” Fives smiled. “You made it!”
“Was there any doubt?” Anakin smirked, giving Fives a handshake.
“We wouldn’t miss gaming with you and Rex for the world!” Ahsoka said, winking.
“Speaking of which,” Anakin said inviting himself in. “Where is Rex? Rex!”
“I’m setting up already!” the other boy called out.
Anakin chuckled and made his way towards the living room.
Fives beckoned for Ahsoka to come in. She eagerly obliged and slipped off her shoes.
“You still want to tell them today?” Fives asked as he grabbed her hand.
“Yep!” Ahsoka said cheerfully. “Not a doubt about it!” She squeezed Fives’ hand. “As long as you’re still okay with it?”
Fives nodded. “Yeah, let’s go.”
Walking into the living room, they found Rex and Anakin already set up and ready to go.
“What took so long?” Rex asked tossing the controllers at them. “Ready to go?”
“More ready then you are!” Ahsoka laughed, launching herself onto the couch. Fives chuckled and sat on the floor in front of her.
“You’re all gonna get whooped by me today!” Fives said.
Anakin snorted. “As if.”
Well into the third round, Fives looked over his shoulder at Ahsoka. She smiled and gave his shoulder a rub. “What’s up?” she asked.
“Now?” he said quietly.
“Sure,” Ahsoka shrugged. “Though they do seem very preoccupied trying to beat each other.”
“The distraction should help lessen the shock.”
Ahsoka nodded. “True.”
Fives turned back around and cleared his throat. “So,” he said slowly. “Ahsoka and I have something to tell you.”
“It had better be serious,” Rex said through clenched teeth as he tried to gain an advantage on Anakin.
“It is,” Ahsoka said.
Anakin hummed, indicating his lack of belief, but Fives continued.
“Ahsoka and I are dating,” he stated. Ahsoka squeezed his hand.
“As if,” Rex snorted. It was followed by a muttered curse word as Anakin took another life from him.
“You know,” Anakin said, somehow managing to keep his attention on the game. “That’s a new prank for you. A good one, but not that good.”
Ahsoka rolled her eyes. “Thanks, but it’s not a prank.”
“We’re serious,” Fives insisted.
Anakin gave a victorious cry as he won, leaving Rex groaning in defeat. Then, Anakin turned to face his sister and friend.
“I’m impressed you’re trying to pull this off, but it won’t work. Also, I’m gonna start becoming incredibly suspicious anytime you and Fives are planning a get together for video games,” he directed at Ahsoka.
“It’s not a prank!” Ahsoka said. “I promise.”
“Yeah,” Anakin nodded. “Just like how Padmé coming over wasn’t a prank either? Well, guess what? Padmé didn’t deliver that pizza!”
Yeah, but that was priceless,” Rex chuckled.
Anakin groaned. “Don’t encourage them! You’re suppose to be on my side!”
“I am!” Rex shouted. He turned to Fives and Ahsoka. “Seriously guys, you should drop the joke before it gets you in trouble.”
“It’s not a joke!”
Fives could hear the exasperation in Ahsoka’s voice. He placed a hand on her knee and smiled. “I’ve got this.”
She nodded and slowly smiled back.
“Hey Dad?” Fives called out. “Could you come here a second?”
Rex eyes widened and he stared dumbfounded at his brother. “Don’t you dare try this one on Dad!” he warned. “Don’t you dare.”
In less than a minute, Jango Fett entered the living room. He crossed his arms and looked at his younger son. “What is it, Fives?”
Fives smiled. “Oh, well, I just wanted to let you know that Ahsoka and I are dating.”
Rex and Anakin stared at him, goggling at Fives’ audacity.
Jango nodded slowly and turned his attention to Ahsoka. “Is this true?” he asked simply.
Ahsoka nodded solemnly. “Yes sir. It is.”
Anakin stared at her, eyes wider than Fives had ever seen.
“For how long?” Jango asked.
“2 months,” Fives answered.
“No problems encountered?”
They both shook their heads.
“No, sir,” Ahsoka replied.
“Very well then,” Jango shrugged. “Carry on.”
Ahsoka’s whole face broke into a smile as he left the room. Fives grinned and squeezed her hand.
Rex’s jaw might as well have been dislocated. “No way,” he said. “No kriffing wa-You serious? You’re serious about dating?”
Fives and Ahsoka both nodded.
Anakin shook his head. “Well, okay then, Snips. Why didn’t you say so sooner?”
Ahsoka shrugged. “Fives and I agreed we’d tell you two together.”
“I can’t believe you’re serious,” Rex breathed, staring at the wall in disbelief.
Ahsoka chuckled. “No hard feelings though?”
“Yeah, no,” Rex sighed. “Just disbelief.”
“You’d better take good care of her though,” Anakin said to Fives, waving a threatening finger at him. “You don’t want me on your bad side.”
“No problem,” Fives nodded. “I’d protect this girl with my life.”
Anakin chuckled. “Yeah, I know. The threat was just obligatory. But, you know, now I really have to propose to Padmé.”
Ahsoka rolled her eyes. “You’ll stay in the lead. Don’t worry.”
Anakin shrugged. “Better safe than sorry. And uh, no surprise babies, okay?”
Fives laughed. “We know! Don’t worry.”
“Both our dads are gonna give us this lecture,” Ahsoka said. “You don’t have to.”
“I just can’t believe you’re being serious,” Rex said, shaking his head.

Hi hi
So obviously I’ve been a bit quiet here. I’m okay…I suppose. Just going through a rough time with my mental stuff, and that has been kind of effecting my worth with my own art and characters. I don’t like making a huge stink out of stuff because uh…nobody came here to read/listen about that junk! But just as a lil update I am okay. Just uh…struggling is all
However I will be burying it soon with more art (hopefully). And I hope it’s still outlast related so I can actually post it here lol.
Thanks for sticking around, sorry for the wait, and I’m not sure when we will get back to our regular scheduled programming but I’m gonna try my best to get it back on air and a lil more consistent.

Married to The Enemy- Shingen Ch. 66
And we are back to our regularly scheduled programming! (okay not really all that regular, but you get what I mean haha).
Chapter 66
We all exited the palace and headed into town together. Shingen kept an arm around my waist as we walked into town. Decorations were strung up everywhere, shops were open with all kinds of crafts, even some special ones that were made as special tokens to welcome Shingen home.
Of course, what really caught my attention was the delicious aromas wafting through the air from the various food stalls. But I kept myself quiet. This day was about Shingen and I wanted him to enjoy it.
“The town went all out for you, my lord.” Yuto told Shingen.
“I can see that.” Shingen replied, smiling as he took everything in. I could tell he was genuinely happy to be back in Kai and it seemed like quite the warm welcome from his people. Those beautiful gray eyes soon came to me. “What would you like to see first, my love?”
“I’m fine with wherever you want to start.” I replied. “This is all for you, you know.”
Shingen chuckled and kissed me on the forehead. “It is also to welcome YOU to Kai as well.” He told me.
“Oh, come on, there has to be something you were really looking forward to about coming back to Kai.” I replied.
Shingen grinned at me. “There is something…and I have a feeling you will enjoy it too.” He said, kissing the tip of my nose.
The next thing I knew, we were at one of the food stalls, getting several orders of some sweets that were exclusive to Kai. The cook behind the shop smiled as he handed Shingen the treats. “I made this order just the way you like them, my lord. With extra sweet sticky syrup.”
Shingen smiled. “Thank you.”
“And do you have any special requests, my lady?” The cook asked me. “I remember when my wife was expecting our first. She had some of the strangest cravings.”
I shook my head. “No, thank you. As of right now, I just want food…and lots of sweets.”
The cook laughed. “Well, you are carrying Lord Shingen’s child. So that’s no surprise.”
We chatted a few more moments before we were taking our food and going to sit down on some benches. “You should be sure not to eat too much of those.” Mom told me as we all sat down. “You know too much sugar is bad for the baby.”
I pouted. “But it’s so good…and sweets are kind of all I’ve been craving.”
“That’s definitely Lord Shingen’s fault.” Yukimura said. “If I didn’t stop him, he’d eat nothing but sweets for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all the snacks in between.”
I giggled. “Hey, I make sure he gets balanced meals too, you know.” I said, picking up one of the sticky treats and popping it in my mouth, the sweet flavor instantly hitting my tongue and spreading through my mouth. “Mmm…” I hummed in contentment as I ate.
“Don’t act like you don’t have a sweet tooth yourself, Ava.” Mom said. “I seem to recall having to fight with you about your breakfast choices in the mornings growing up.”
“You worry too much, my girl.” Oba-san told Mom.
“And you spoiled her too much.” Mom countered.
“That’s my job as the grandmother. I get to spoil and then give her back. Something you’ll come to enjoy here soon.” Oba-san replied with a smug grin.
“That is true.” Mom replied. She then looked at me. “You’ll finally get to know what it’s like to argue with a miniature version of yourself.”
I laughed. “What if the baby is a miniature version of Shingen? I mean besides the fact that he’d be super cute that way…”
Shingen chuckled. “Well, it’s good for us that I was a good boy then.” He said, caressing my hair.
“Most of the time. You had your moments.” Yuto countered. “You could be quite stubborn when you wanted to be.”
“I wasn’t that bad.” Shingen replied.
It was then that something new occurred to me. “Wait, Yuto, you were involved in Shingen’s upbringing?”
Yuto nodded. “Yes, my late wife was his wetnurse and I helped with his training and such.”
Shingen looked at me. “Are you thinking what I think you are, my love?”
I nodded. “Yes.” I then turned back to Yuto. “So, you would have all kinds of stories about him, right?”
“Oh, yes I could tell you anything you wanted to know.” Yuto replied.
“I don’t think that’s really needed, my love…” Shingen tried to protest.
“Oh, yes it is. Oba-san shared with you my embarrassing stories…and pictures…I wanna hear yours.” I replied.
Yuto chuckled. “Ah, you want to know the things my lord would prefer no one know?”
I nodded. “Pretty much yes.”
“I will be sure to regale you with such tales later. I promise.” Yuto replied.
“Aren’t you supposed to be my vassal?” Shingen teased.
Yuto grinned. “I am. But that also means your wife is now my lady and I serve her as well. Not to mention she is my step-daughter. I want her to like me afterall.”
I laughed. “Haha! Looks like I’ve won.” I then looked over at Mom. “Thanks for marrying him.”
Mom laughed. “You’re welcome…I think.”
“I’m in for trouble.” Shingen said with a chuckle.
“Don’t worry my lord, I will share the embarrassing stories with Ava and only stories that paint you in the best light with my wife.”
I couldn’t help but to giggle. Soon after finishing the sweets, we all began wandering around the festival. Our group slowly dwindled down until it was me and Shingen and my mom and Yuto. Oba-san had gone off on her own and then Yukimura and Saki had left to spend some time alone.
Shingen showed me around the town, showing me his favorite places around. Though he seemed to make sure that every place he showed me would interest me in some way. He also made sure to take me by the fabric merchant in town.
Kana and Yuto…
Kana walked beside Yuto, holding his hand as they made their way through the festival following her daughter and Shingen. She watched Ava and Shingen. This was Ava’s first day in Kai and she had wanted to know everything Shingen loved about the town. Yet she couldn’t help but to notice that Shingen was being sure to show Ava things that related to her interests.
He also seemed to make sure they took frequent breaks to ensure Ava had plenty of food to eat and plenty to drink. He made sure she sat down and rested as she needed to. As much as she didn’t want to trust Shingen…all signs pointed to the fact that Shingen really did love Ava and was dedicated to her.
She also noticed the way the women of the town looked at Shingen. There were lots of admiring looks. Not that Kana could really blame the women. Even she had to admit her son-in-law was a handsome man. Though what really caught her attention was that Shingen paid no attention to these other women and the longing looks they were giving him. He did seem to really only have eyes for Ava.
“They are rather sweet together.” Yuto spoke to her in a low voice, a warm smile on his face. “I haven’t seen my lord this happy in many years.”
“I will admit…he does seem to really care for her. And Ava does seem to be happy.” Kana admitted.
“I can tell you, I’ve known Lord Shingen since he was a boy. He’s never looked at a woman the way he looks at Ava.” Yuto told his wife.
“I’m still not sure I can trust  him with her heart just yet…”
“Whether you trust him with her heart or not, doesn’t matter. She clearly has already trusted her heart to him.” Yuto replied. “Not to mention he is the father of your grandchild.”
Kana sighed. “I know. I just can’t help but to worry. She is my daughter after all…and until I clearly had terrible taste in men…and the rate Ava was going, she was on the same path as me.”
“But look at her face.” Yuto replied.
Kana looked at her daughter, seeing the genuine smile on her face. They were currently pursuing over some tea sets and other wares at one of the shops in town. She noticed Ava’s eyes lingering over certain things. Shingen’s eyes were on Ava, taking in everything she did.
“Would you like one of these tea sets, my love?” Shingen asked Ava.
“No. I just think they’re pretty and admire the craftsmanship.”
Kana knew her daughter. That was her way of trying to pass it off. She wanted one of those tea sets. She always denied wanting anything for herself. Kana made a mental note to come back and purchase one of the tea sets.
Of course that was when she noticed Shingen. When Ava’s back was turned, he discretely called the attention of the shopkeeper and passed him some money. The shopkeeper was then packing away the set Ava had been admiring. Kana noticed this was a pattern that occurred in several shops.
She looked to Yuto. “Is he doing what I think he’s doing?” She asked.
Yuto nodded. “Yes. One of the vassals will be along to pick them up later.”
“What are you two whispering about back there?” Ava asked, turning to look at her mother over her shoulder.
Kana smiled at her daughter. “Just thinking that that food stall over there smells good.”
“It does smell good.” Ava agreed.
The group headed over to get something to eat then and set down. “I’m glad we’re sitting down. My feet and ankles are starting to hurt a little.”
“Are they? We can’t have that.” Shingen said. He was then reaching for Ava’s feet and pulling them up into his lap. He removed her sandals and began to rub her feet and ankles.
Ava’s cheeks were glowing bright red. “Shingen…you don’t have to do that right out here.”
Shingen smiled at Ava. “I just want to take care of my goddess.”
The rest of the time at the festival was spent in a similar manner. By the time the festival was coming to a close and they were heading back to the castle, Ava was saying that her feet and ankles were hurting again. Shingen picked her up and carried her to the castle.
Kana felt her heart warming at the sight. Ava had a genuine smile on her face…and it seemed it was all because of Shingen. It seemed perhaps, Ava had really found true love. It appeared Ava had chosen better than she had when she’d met Ava’s father. It appeared Shingen was a good man.

Timothy Olyphant, 55, is an actor who starred in Deadwood, Live Free or Die Hard, and Justified. He will star in the FX miniseries Justified: City Primeval this fall and currently co-stars in the Max miniseries Full Circle. He spoke with Marc Myers before the actors strike.
TIMOTHY:
You couldn’t get me out of the pool when I was a kid. We lived next door to a swim and racket club in Modesto, Calif.
I began regular swim practice at age 6. My older brother, Andy, took to tennis, which probably helped us get along. We were competitive. Our younger brother, Matt, did a little bit of everything and eventually became a water-polo player.
I was born in Hawaii, but we moved to Modesto when I was 3. My dad, Bevan, worked for Del Monte and left to work at E&J Gallo Winery soon after we relocated to California. He started in bottling and worked his way up to vice president of production.
My mom, Katherine, was a full-time mom. She was the nurturing type. Whether I won or lost, she’d always talk about how well I competed or how beautiful a swimmer I was, never about whether I won or not. She’s very sweet and encouraging.
Just as I was starting high school, my parents divorced. After they split up, we quickly figured out who was responsible for what. For example, our dad didn’t really know how to do laundry or cook. If we were going over to his place, we’d probably be eating out.
When you’re young, any time your foundation gets rocked, it sets you back a bit. I’d been a good student when my parents were together, but there definitely was a dip after the divorce. I kind of saw what I could get away with and wound up just an okay student.
I wasn’t in school plays. I’m not sure I saw that side of me yet. Instead, I was at swim practice and hanging with my buddies. I also liked to draw a lot, which I suppose is how I expressed myself.
I was a solid swimmer in the Central Valley. I set a CIF SAC-Joaquin Section Record and wound up with an All America Swimming Certificate. By my senior year, I realized swimming was my ticket out of town and certainly the only way I’d get into a great university.
I worked hard. After USC saw the times I was posting, they called to recruit me for the team. When I flew out to USC on my recruit trip, I met with the dean of the architecture school. He said there was no way I could manage both the swim team’s practice schedule and the rigors of the architectural program.
I asked him about the art gallery downstairs. He said it was part of the fine-arts department. I didn’t even know you could get a degree in that. I met with the fine-arts dean and asked if I could be on the swim team. He said we’d work it out.
Majoring in fine arts for me was like winning the lottery. In high school, I’d get in trouble for drawing when I was supposed to be doing schoolwork. Now, in college, drawing was my schoolwork.
After my senior year, I left USC several electives shy of a degree and didn’t finish until the pandemic. But before I left, I met some drama majors who got me thinking about acting.
By then, my college girlfriend, Alexis, and I had married. We moved to Seal Beach, south of Los Angeles, where I coached swimming. To fulfill some of my electives I took an acting 101 class at UC Irvine. I had a ball. It was a language I understood immediately.
I read Stanislavsky’s and Sandy Meisner’s books on acting. I realized that it wasn’t a frivolous pursuit but a craft on par with how artists I admired approached painting and sculpture. I told Alexis I was thinking about pursuing acting rather than a master’s in fine art. She said, “Tim, just do something. Just pick one thing and do that.”
The guy who taught the intro class was a graduate student who recommended I study with Bill Esper at the Esper Studio in New York. Fortunately, Alexis’s dad lived there and let us move into his place.
My career has been many little steps—a lot of one step forward, two steps back. I’m not sure if there was any one role that really changed things, but landing the lead in “Justified,” in 2010, certainly helped things along.
Today, Alexis and I live in Los Angeles and have three grown kids. We moved in 15 years ago and love the house and neighborhood. I still draw and swim.
Breakfast is my favorite meal. I make steel-cut oatmeal in my rice cooker, which has a porridge setting. When I come home from swimming and have my oatmeal, I feel like I’m 8 again. And you know what? That feels pretty good.

Timothy’s Digs:
Full Circle? I play Derek in the miniseries about a kidnapping gone awry and the family secrets exposed.
Blissful space? Sitting in a blue chair in the kitchen having coffee with my wife.
Cool buy? A painting by an artist I’ve admired for at least a decade or so.
Tennis? I play with my brother and oldest daughter. The fact that they play with me means the world.
Youngest daughter? Vivian. She’s an actress in the coming season of Justified: City Primeval.

Your Life Is The Truman Show
Tumblr media
This place, our "current reality", the Upside Down which is definitely a Stranger Thing, isnt a fit for me.
Its not like it was before.
I noticed it as soon as I started high school, my first day as a freshman at Bishop Ahr in September 1995.
Everything felt so motherfucking fake, forced and contrived.
The stupid mandatory pep rallies I was forced to attend in the gymnasium and having to pretend that I gave a shit that we were playing our rivals, Colonia.
I didnt.
Being forced fo sit in the cafeteria every day for an hour when I would finish my Lunchables, Sour Gushers & Hi-C in ten minutes.
Attempts to hide in the bathroom stall and the school library were met with threats of detention and an insistence that I stay in the cafeteria every day for my full lunch hour per my schedule.
Extracurricular activities were n e v a h a social fit at all, neither in junior high or high school.
I wasnt talking and I was socially isolated due to my social anxiety but I could never shake that forced and contrived feeling I already mentioned.
Everything was artifice.
Marching band playing the fluit in junior high, wind ensemble playing the flute in 4th through 8th grade. I'm front row, second from the right.
Tumblr media
Softball for a decade for St .Peters (3rd through 8th grade) & Franklin Township Little League (2nd grade through 10th grade). Im in the middle holding the bat.
Tumblr media
Girl scouts - junior high, French club & Students Against Drunk Driving - high school.
Spring & winter track - varsity lettered sophomore year - high school.
Tumblr media
Youth choir - church - 11 to 13 years old, Counselor in training - Inman Park - Summer 7th grade, Theater program - Villagers Theater - Summer 7th grade, Candy striper - St. Peters Hospital - freshman & sophmore years - high school, Intervarsity For Christ - freshman year - UDel, Talent Competition - junior year - high school; Talent Show - 8th grade; Vacation bible school - church - 11 to 13 yeara old.
Additional clues this place has nevah been a fit:
•During my 15 year career in corporate which spanned from 2007 to 2022, I worked twenty mostly jobs which were mostly contract assignments with only a few permanent jobs with all of my tenures being a year or less with the absolute max tenure for any one job being two years, additionally I worked over a dozen temporary jobs during that same 15 year tenure in corporate, that ranged from a few days to a few weeks to a month or possibly two at most.
•I left four jobs in six years with no job lined up (Bank of America - 2015; International SOS - 2017; Dow Jones - 2019; Amazon - 2021).
•I left Amazon (6 month contract, $55/hr) after seven days.
•College (University of Delaware) was a thousand times worse than high school and even less of a fit because now I was living in a dorm on campus surrounded by people pledging sororities, partying, driking, doing LSD and hooking up left and right and I was interested in exactly none of that.
•Corporate exposed an extremely clear pattern that had emerged where seemingly nothing was a fit for me in terms of established accepted societal structures (sports teams, marching bands, girl scouts, church choir, summer camp, high school, 4 year college, corporate America).
•Ego death and self awakening in 2023 that included my third eye opening, kundalini awakening, ego death, self ascension, self actualization, aligning & activating all seven chakras.
Tumblr media
•Receiving regular esoteric downloads from the Akashic Library and posting them to my tumblr and TikTok.
•Daily trips to the dreamscape at night when Im "dreaming" where I put the current days version of myself to sleep in the dreamscape and download "the next days" version of myself then I "wake up", temporarily leaving the dreamscape and traveling back to our current reality, the Upside Down, when in reality when I am asleep and dreaming I am awake in the dreamscape and when I "wake up" from my "dream" I am actually asleep in the false reality of our virtual reality simulation of what we call "life", where Im typing this, the Upside Down.
•Esoteric realization after opening my thirf eye that our "reality" is nothing but a simulated virtual reality videogame version of the dreamscape, which is actual reality.
Where we are now, where Im typing this and youre reading this, is nothing but a dream.
Limited 3 dimensional bullshit.
Car notes, mortgages, doctors appointments, electricity bills, fear of death, ridiculously extending life with insane interventions which make no logical sense as we can only delay and not stop death so it is better to self awaken accept death and realize that it is a beautiful transformation and it is nothing to fear or avoid or fight or struggle against as it is your final metamorphosis back to the beautiful ascended limitless energetic eternal butterfly you are as death is nothing but shedding the temporary cocoon of your physical manifesration of a human evolving beyond your current 3D caterpillar self back to the butterfly you are and were before your extremely temporary manifestation as a physical human being, loans, debt, credit cards, 9 to 5s, jobs, emails, Slack, Outlook, team meetings, agendas, mandated schedules, time, alarm clocks, schools, politics, duopoly, elections, propaganda, diets, gyms, fads, trends, crash diets, master cleanses, 24 hour news cycles, cultural zeitgeists, streaming services, Black Friday sales, Prime 1 Day sales, 1 hour deliveries, stock market, derivatives, stock options, investment portfolios, RSUs, promotions, mid-year reviews, performance reviews, year end reviews, cross-lateral moves, layoffs, redundancies, reductions in force, firings, hirings, sign-on bonuses, ESOPs, EBITDA, CEOs, ExCo, board members, shareholders, slave wage, labor, contracts, exploitation, gaslighting, manipulation, lies, sabotage, character assassination, false narratives, agendas, misinformation campaigns, ruthlessness, mercilessness, torture, phosphorous, chemical warfare, misogynoir, war crimes, maas graves, rape rooms, death squads, false imprisonment, guilty till proven innocent, driving while black, unknown & undetermined cause of death, unlicensed medical examiners office, its just another dead black guy, the case is suspended until further notice because were not investigating it, black people dont own homes they rent, all black baggy jeans black shirt black shoes black skin black car dead nigger, theyre all the same, theres a ton like him in newark, dump him in the hallway and ill try to do the autopsy in a month, false memories, false narratives, false cause of death, patriarchal dick, fake ass head of the family sociopath, convicted felon, state prison in georgia, first degree forgery, paper brother alpha phi alpha legacy brother only got in because his brothers actually got hazed, 3M offer letter in the file cabinet in the basement, parole officers, daughter printed out and kept in files, possessive jealous controlling hebephile obsession fixation predilection predation...

•Dreamscape is unlimited 10 dimensional, walk through walls, walk on water, fall through the sky endlessly without dying, kaleidoscopic explosion of light color supernovas lucid lush lurid visceral acid dreams. The dreamscape is limitless because its your mind and imagination. We all intrinsically know that noone and nothing can limit our imagination and we can literally think of and dream of and imagine anything. Thats all the dreamscape is.
Tumblr media
Where we currently reside and what we currently inhabit is a fake bastardization Upside Down version of the Dreamscape with false limits, rules, ordinances, laws, mandates, requirements, obligations, taboos, shibboleths, electrified third rails, shoulds, have tos, cants, shouldnts, donts, not allowed, need permission, need authorization, need a permit, need notarization, need a seal of approval, need a stamp of approval, need a license, need to be certified, need a degree, need letters after your name, need the clout, need the zeros in your bank account, need the wealth, need the prestige, need the status, need the company brand name, need the job title, need the red heeled shoes, need the louboutins, need the louis vuittons, need the SRTs, need the birkin bag, need the fendi, need the knockoffs, need the couture, need the flex, need the luxury, need the validation, need the approval, need the attention, need the distraction, need the gloss, need the shine, need the airbrushing, need the photoshop, need the CCs, need the BBL, need the lip filler, need the cheek implants, need the nose job, need the augmentation, need the lipo, need to inject your stomach fat into your butt cheeks, need the laser sculpting, need the brow lift, need the face lift, need the botox, need the fillers, need skims, need spanx, need a tinier waist, need abs, need muscles, need butt gains, need a thigh gap, need a 20 to 22 inch waist, need to look like the girls in the kpop industry, need hip dips, need v lines, need curves, need to be thicc, need to be thin, need to be skinny, need bigger boobs and a bigger ass...
I constantly see the Truman Show all around me.
I see Bryan Cranston stepping on set like Asteroid City at a family members streamed funeral to narrate the scene.
I see the boom mic and lightbox crash onto the set of my cousin giving birth to her first child.
I hear the director yelling "Cut!" because one of the Marine officers wasnt standing on the black X and didnt hit his mark at a family members burial.
I hear the director asking for a 25th take when a family member falls and injures herself after a work event.
I see the Black Friday Walmart ad that has a dozen items in squares and when the squares are flipped over two sets of prices are revealed: "Was $XYZ" & "Now $XYZ", however, many of the before and after prices are the exact same and many of the "now" prices are actually MORE expensive than the "was" prices.
During Amazons Black Friday Football game, I see a Dolphins defensive player lower his helmet to deliver a hit then crumple and collapse to the turf.
After the game, the same Dolphins player is interviewed for his remarkable 99 yard pick 6 earlier in the game.
Laughably, the Dolphins list the player's injury after the game as a "knee injury".
I pulled up the player, Jevon Holland's (#8) injury history, and he had a very hard collision with a fellow Dolphins defensive player last month during a game on 10/23/23.
Holland laid motionless on the turf for several minutes after the collision. He was then taken to the lockerroom and the Dolphins reported he "cleared concussion protocol" and he was put back in the game.
The very next morning, on Monday (10/24/23), when Holland reported to the Dolphins team facility, he reported concussion symptoms.
Holland was placed into concussion protocol and he was then cleared to play exactly a week later on 11/1/23.
3 weeks later, as I already mentioned, during Amazons Black Friday Football game, Holland lowered his helmet to deliver a hit, collapsed to the turf, was never checked on the sidelines or in the medical tent for a concussion and the Dolphins later reported his injury after the game as a "knee injury".
On the broadcast, Al Michaels said after Holland collpased to the turf that the NFL was trying to remove this play from the game because players lowering their head to deliver a hit is unsafe especially to the player delivering the hit.
After Holland collapsed to the turf, Amazons Black Friday Football broadcast stepped away for an injury timeout and, after commercials, once the broadcast resumed there was a graphic shown onscreen of the current AFC playoff picture.
The viewer could see that Holland was no longer on the turf so he had clearly left the field during commercials, however, Al Michaels and Kirk Hebstreit, Amazons play by play and announcement team, never updated the fans on Holland.
As I stated earlier, after the game ended, Holland was interviewed by the sideline reporter about his incredible 99 yard pick 6 and the Dolphins win.
Holland was in very high spirits.
What concussion?
Did Jevon Holland, as he did last month, report concussion-like symptoms to the Dolphins trainer today when be reported in to the team's facility after sustaining yet another collision in-game that he wasnt properly tested and diagnosed for by the teams unaffiliated neurological consultant (UNC)?
Does anyone even care?
Did anyone even notice?
After Al Michaels mentioned that the NFL legislated helmet to helmet hits out of the game to protect both the defensive and offensive players when Holland lowered his helmet to deliver the hit then collapsed to the turf, the injury timeout happened, the broadcast went to commercials then once the broadcast resumed Al Michaels & Kirk Hebstreit never mentioned Hollands injury again.
As the viewer, we saw Holland lower his helmet, deliver the hit, collapse to the turf, injury timeout, commercials, back to the broadcast, Holland had left the field during the commercials but instead of at least an update from Al Michaels saying that the Dolphins hadnt provided an update or at least state that Holland was able to get up under his own power something, we were instead as the viewer shown a graphic of the current AFC playoff standings and Al & Kirk discussed how the Dolphins were currently dominating in their division and conference.
Jevon Holland had scored a 99 yard pick 6 earlier in the game so all discussions about Holland focused on this both after he collpased on the turf in the 4th quarter of the remainder of the game as well as the post-game broadcast.
The broadcast team (Al Michaels & Kirk Hebstreit) as well as the post-game team (Carissa, Fitz, Sherm, Whit and Tony G) only discussed the pick 6 when discussing Holland. Same with the sideline reporter who interviewed Holland after the game.
The broadcast was acting like Holland was never shown, including in a slow motion replay, lowering his helmet to deliver a hit that immediately resulted in him colllapsing to the turf.
Holland also seemed perfectly fine during his post-game interview and he was extremely high-spirited about his 99 yard pick 6 as well as the Dolphins winning.
On the commentary, Al Michaels didnt identify Holland by name, only stating that a Dolphins defensive player was down.
If you didnt notice the number on his jersey (#8), you wouldnt have connected that this was the same Dolphins player who had scored the 99 yard pick 6 earlier in the game.
Since Michaels & Hebstreit never mentioned Holland's collapse to the turf and/or injury again (it had occurred in the 4th quarter) and neither did Amazons post-game show, most viewers wouldnt have known who the player who had collapsed on the turf was and would have never connected that it was the same Dolphins player who scored the 99 yard pick 6 who was interviewed after the game.

Life is a reality TV show.
Theres boom mics, lightboxes, cameras, grips and dollies all around you every single moment of your life.
Theres a black X made out of black masking tape on the ground underneath you every time you stand and speak.
Theres a sign that flashes "Laughter" on stage behind you any time you tell a joke and people laugh.
When you crossed the stage at your college graduation to receive your diploma, there was a sign behind you in red letters that said "APPLAUSE" when the audience clapped.
The people weeping over you at your funeral are actually SAG-AFTRA actors hired as paid mourners.
The Mandela effect is real.
Deaths are faked, there are false news reports, green screens, hired actors, paid shills, fake journalists, sound stages, sets and Cigarette Smoking Mans.
Berenstein Bears, Berenstain Bears.
We are the champions my friend. We keep on fighting till the end.
We are the champions...of the world.
But now the song no longer ends with "of the world".
Mandela died in prison in South Africa in the 80s.

Mandela was freed and walked hand in hand down the streets of South Africa with Winnie Mandela in the early 90s.
Mayor David Dinkins held a celebration for Mandelas release at Yankee Stadium.
Mandela died in prison in the 80s and the story was broadcast all over the world.
There are four lights.

Because I am autistic and the ridiculous car sport is one of my special interests I am pausing the regularly scheduled carlos/charles/oscar/general f1 driver thirst to instead spew all my thoughts on today into a post otherwise I will not stop thinking about this. To my followers; do not worry I will not subject you to this every race I sometimes just need to SCREAM:
Fellow Tifosi: the hard truth is our team is now slower than Mercedes and McLaren. But I think the important question to ask is why? Aside from that Ferrari are being Ferrari again. Well. First of all they have NOT had the raft of upgrades McLaren or even Mercedes have had. McLaren have completely changed their concept and Mercedes have finally given up on the zero pod, and it’s paying off! It’s becoming increasingly clear that trying to make the most of a bad car just doesn’t work, and that you really need to bite the bullet and commit to a complete concept change. Obviously, this is difficult to do with a cost cap, but Ferrari really haven’t kept pace with the upgrade train (aston martin too... a lot of this also applies to them) and if we want to see Charles on the front row again we are going to need some serious tweaking this season.
Secondly: This years cars are so close the track is playing a massive part in car performance. The beginning of this year was mostly street circuits due to Imola being cancelled, and I have a suspicion these kinds of circuits suit the Aston/Ferrari far more, and that this drop off in pace is not as caused by a lack of development as it initially appears, but these cars just not being as suited to proper racetracks, wheras on street tracks they are closer to competitors. This may just be me on the copium, but I believe that Ferrari and Aston may be in better form on later street circuits this year.
Obviously, I can’t ignore this; FINALLY SOMEONE HAS TAKEN MAX DOWN A PEG. Red Bull don’t seem as comfortably ahead as they usually are. Perhaps the upgrades have unsettled Max slightly? While I doubt Lewis will be able to win this (he did only manage to beat Max by 0.003 of a second) this is certainly an instance of making the god bleed and realising it can be killed.
I also want to discuss McLaren; It’s becoming clear these massive upgrades have worked! Changing the car so much is a gamble that’s paid off tenfold for them. I hope this level of competitiveness remains this year and beyond, so we can see Oscar get his first podium and Lando his first win. I also hope it’s a wake up call for Ferrari and Aston who have been very complacent.
Alfa Romeo, also. Did they have upgrades? Did this new quali format just work for them? I’m not entirely sure tbh but well deserved after a shit few races. Would like to see them do well tomorrow but i’m not sure if the one lap pace will carry over.
Another Ferrari thought: I am beginning to suspect they have written this season off as a dud and are turning their attention to next year’s car. I think the success at Le Mans, and the obvious ploy it was to get around the cost cap and also develop tech for their F1 programme, has left them kinda in shambles and going ‘well, we have next year!’ and hoping their new car works. I hope it does. Charles deserves it after all the shit he’s put up with.
Finally; DANIEL! he has had like 3 hours in that car and he dragged it into Q2, what a start! Although I hope the inevitable rivalry doesn’t become too sour between him and Yuki. Daniel has come into this guns blazing and I love to see it. The honey badger is back and he’s gonna BITE.
Rant over. I just want to say I’m no expert in this and this is just my observations from being obsessed with this sport. Feel free to add your own thoughts! This has been Opti’s notebook. We will soon resume regular programming.

The Story of Unit 24-C - Chapter 29
Tumblr media
Chapter List | Follow us on Novel Updates
**********
AKIN KA BY ZACK TABUDLO
During the entire ride to Caticlan Airport, Dom and I sat next to each other. We had a random conversation about business, recent dishes we learned to cook, and our expectations for the internship. Dom was also the only person I knew among the students in the program.
Even now, I could already feel Noah’s irritation because during one time we were drinking, he admitted that he was jealous of Dom. He said he always saw Dom and me together at Ardano University, even when we were out buying supplies for our classes.
But in reality, Dom and I weren’t always together. He was an irregular student last semester. We only saw him occasionally unless there was a group project. Whenever we bump into each other outside, it was purely by coincidence. Dom only became a regular student now because he caught up by taking summer classes.
There was really no reason for Noah to be jealous of Dom since as far as I know, Dom was courting someone from UP.
“Where’s the restaurant where you’ll be working?” Dom asked.
“Station 2. Pretty close to D’Mall,” I replied. “How about you?”
“I’m in Station 3,” he said. “I actually thought you and Noah would be interning together. I always saw you two together,” he joked.
“That guy’s like a tail,” I joked back. “But he couldn’t go far anyway since his game is coming up soon. And he’s interning at a firm in QC.”
“Ohhh. Will you not watch his game?” Dom asked.
“How would I? I’m here in Boracay,” I said. But to be honest, I was still considering flying back to Manila for at least a weekend just to watch his game. It would be expensive, but it’s worth the effort to support him.
“Fair enough,” Dom said. “Do you want to roam around later? Sir Dela Cruz said we have nothing scheduled today and the internship officially starts next Monday.”
“Sure.”
We were already on the boat heading to Boracay. I felt excited since I was probably a kid the last time I visited. I remember the island being rehabilitated, so it’s better maintained now. As we approached, the water turned a deeper shade of blue.
The view was breathtaking. Boracay has a unique beauty you won’t find in El Nido, but then El Nido has its own charm that Boracay doesn’t.
When we arrived on the island, tricycles were waiting to take us to the restaurants where we’d be working. I shared a tricycle with Klent, another culinary student who would also intern at Sunbright Bistro. He’s from another section.
The tricycle dropped us off in front of D’Mall, and the driver gave us directions to Sunbright Bistro. One thing I noticed about Boracay is how it felt like I was in some Asian country while walking through D’Mall. We saw lots of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese tourists.
It was very different from El Nido, which has a more diverse mix of nationalities. Here, it felt like I was in China or Korea. Klent and I looked like real tourists ourselves, taking photos of everything we passed in D’Mall. But we didn’t judge each other for being overly excited  - it was Boracay, after all, one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines.
Klent and I reached Sunbright Bistro, and it really stood out from the neighboring establishments. Its bright yellow walls and large glass windows let you see the cafe-like interior from outside. There were tourists eating inside.
“This is a cool place to intern at,” Klent said.
“I’ll just text Miss Tanya that we’ve arrived,” I told Klent, and he nodded.
A few minutes later, Miss Tanya, the manager of the bistro, came out. She was a petite young woman who seemed only a few years older than us. Her hair was neatly tied in a ponytail and she welcomed us with a big smile.
“I’m sorry we couldn’t pick you up,” she said, pointing inside. “As you can see, we’re full.”
“That’s fine, Klent and I made it here anyway,” I replied with a smile as we stepped inside. The interior design was beautiful.
“Our interns from Ardano University have arrived,” Miss Tanya told the two staff members at the counter. They waved at us, and Klent and I smiled back.
Miss Tanya gave us a quick orientation. Apparently, another intern from La Salle would also be joining us…good for him.
Turns out, Sunbright Bistro wasn’t just an ordinary cafe or restaurant. As Miss Tanya explained, it functions as a cafe serving coffee and Italian cuisine during the day and turns into a bar at night. That explained the DJ booth in one corner.
I was most excited about learning how to make coffee because I’ve always secretly wanted to be a barista.
Miss Tanya brought us to an apartelle where Klent and I would be staying. She was very considerate - she rented a two-bedroom unit for us so we could still have our privacy. Finally, we could rest after the long trip.
I sat on the floor of my room because I didn’t want to lie on the bed before cleaning up. I opened Messenger and found several messages from Noah:
Noah: You in Boracay already?
Noah: Hey!!!! Replyyyy!!!
Go hang with your buddy Dom then.
Noah: Oh come on, Kelvs! As far as I remember, it only takes an hour to fly from Manila to Boracay. It’s been over five hours. Did your plane end up in Australia?
“This guy is so annoying. Attachment issues much,” I muttered and quickly replied.
Me: Don’t you have practice right now, you ogre? Why do you have so much time to chat? I’ve been in Boracay for a while. We’ve had orientation nonstop, so I only got the chance to reply now.
Noah: I’m sulking.
Me: You’re so dramatic. I’m not even on vacation here, I swear I’ll slap you.
Noah: Jk. I’m not sulking. I’m just worried because you’re with that Dom guy.
Me: He’s my buddy.
Noah: Yeah, whatever. I’ll find a way to visit you there.
Me: Your schedule’s packed with practice, lol.
Noah: You’ll just be surprised when I show up. By the way, when are your folks flying in?
“Oh, right. Mom and Dad are visiting,” I murmured. I’d totally forgotten. We didn’t celebrate my birthday last sem break, so they decided to take a week-long vacation in Boracay instead.
Me: Next week, I think. My sister already booked the flight.
Noah: Then I’ll be there next week, too.
Me: Are you family?
Noah: Almost.
Got to go, I have practice.
I just heart-reacted to his last message and headed to the bathroom to shower. I was about to go to bed when I heard a knock at the door. Klent and I looked at each other - he was lying on the couch.
“You expecting something?” I asked.
“Nope. Maybe it’s the apartelle staff,” he said.
I opened the door and was met with Dom’s face, dressed in cargo shorts and a white tank top.
“What are you doing here?” I asked.
“We agreed to explore the beach this afternoon, remember?” he reminded me. Crap, I forgot. I opened the door wider so Dom could come in. “Hi, bro,” he greeted Klent.
They high-fived. Dom was the only irregular student I knew who was friends with everyone. He was really good with people and holding conversations - probably a perk of being raised in a business family. While me? My family’s in business, too, but I get easily annoyed by crowds.
“Let me just change,” I said, heading to my room and changing into beach shorts and a white shirt with an El Nido print - loungewear, basically.
I didn’t mind going out with Dom since we were in the same circle of friends anyway. It was just Noah who kept insisting Dom liked me. As if every guy in the world is gay. Besides, Dom was courting someone from UP last semester and often visited QC. They might even be official now.
Dom and I walked along Boracay’s beachside. The rumors I read online were true! The sunsets here are amazing.
I took a video; the view was beautiful. This place is definitely a paradise. Now I understand the awe people feel when they visit El Nido - this is how I feel about Boracay.
We passed a foreigner walking a golden retriever. We played with the dog for a few minutes before deciding to sit in the sand. Damn, walking hurts the feet.
“Water?” Dom offered, holding out his tumbler.
“I’m not thirsty,” I declined. “When does your internship start?”
“Not until Monday. I can still enjoy the beach until tomorrow. You?”
“Same.”
“Have you told your boyfriend you’re here?” Dom asked, and I paused. He chuckled when he saw my reaction.
“Boyfriend? What boyfriend?” I feigned ignorance.
“Noah, obviously.” Dom played with the sand near his feet. “He was glaring at me at the airport earlier like he wanted to punch me.”
“He’s just weird sometimes. And he’s not my boyfrie—”
“Did you forget I live in Manhattan Tower in Cubao? I saw you guys a few months ago at Cubao Expo,” he said, cutting me off. “That’s when I had a hunch there was something going on. I recognized the places from your stories. But I didn’t say anything. It’s none of my business.”
I stayed silent. Dom looked at me. “Sorry, I think I made you uncomfortable.”
“N-Not really, I was just surprised. I don’t want to deny it either, Noah doesn’t deserve that,” I explained. Honestly, I was planning to tell Valeen and the others next semester. I knew it wouldn’t be a secret forever. I just wanted to be mentally prepared for the consequences. I didn’t expect Dom to already know.
“You guys are cute,” Dom said. “I’m genuinely happy for you. It’s the 21st century, screw judgmental people.”
“Dom, can we keep this between us for now?” I asked.
“Of course.” He held out a fist bump, and I returned it. “It’s not my story to tell. Why would I out you? I just want you to know your friends support you and Noah, even if that basketball player hates my guts.” We both laughed.
“He’s just nuts. Always making up scenarios in his head.”
“Just so he feels at ease, tell him I have a girlfriend now. The UP girl said yes last week,” he said, stretching. “Damn, she just said yes and now we’re jumping straight into a five-month long-distance relationship.”
“Thanks, Dom…I just hope nothing changes between us.”
“Why would it? I got to know you as you, Kelvin. That won’t change. You’re still that talented chef I compete with in class.” He chuckled.
When the sun finally set, Dom and I decided to return to our places. Honestly, it felt nice that one of my friends knew. It gave me some peace of mind, like I could finally tell Valeen about Noah and me.
**********
It was Saturday, and I had been working at Sunbright Bistro for a week. My biggest highlight so far was learning how to make a Caramel Macchiato and their signature drink. Our shifts, mine and Klent’s, only ran until five in the afternoon. We didn’t work the evening shift when the place turned into a bar, since that was against Ardano University’s rules.
I was waiting for my mom’s boat to arrive. Today was the day she and the rest of my family were coming to Boracay. What I was most excited about was seeing Baby Ruan, my brother’s child. I didn’t get to see him the last time I went home to El Nido, since that trip was just a quick vacation and Ate Clarisse and the baby were still in the hospital. Aside from Baby Ruan, I was really waiting for Noah, too. We hadn’t seen each other in a week.
The nerve of that guy! He actually matched his flight to Manila with my family’s flight from Lio Airport, just so they could land together in Caticlan. He’s really going all in on this whole being part of the family thing.
When their boat finally arrived, I immediately spotted Noah wearing a white T-shirt from Uniqlo and black shorts. His hair was brushed up, and he had on sunglasses. He was helping my mom and dad get off the boat. Such a suck-up, as always. I honestly don’t know how he managed to escape practice, but he said he was only staying in Boracay for three days. He’d get scolded if he stayed the whole week.
"Boracay’s gotten so much nicer, anak," my mom said while taking photos of the area.
"Ma, it’s been almost ten years since we last came here," I replied with a laugh, giving her a tight hug. I took her bags so she wouldn’t have to carry them.
Noah and I caught each other’s eyes, and he just smiled at me.
"Trying to look hot, huh?" I muttered. The idiot was all dressed up, like he was the intern assigned here in Boracay or something.
I stood off to the side, waiting while Ate and the others took photos. A service van was also waiting to take us to the hotel where my family would be staying. I’d be staying there for a week too, to really make the most of their vacation.
Noah came up beside me. We stood there quietly, both watching my parents.
"Did you miss me?" he asked in a low voice.
"You wish," I said.
"I really don’t stand a chance with you, Kelvs," he said with a small laugh. He took off his shades and looked at me. "I told you I’d find a way to follow you here, didn’t I?"
I looked away, heart suddenly pounding. Damn. Why is Noah such an over-the-top kind of guy?
Translator’s Notes
Akin Ka here means “You’re mine.”

ENTRY #7
Hey people,
It's 12:53AM, and I have been working for the past hour like a lunatic. I was in a very stressful situation, earning a phone call to my work bestie - Jade just to rant and blow off some steam.
I love the people I work with in production, but it's not always cupcakes and rainbows, if anything it's more coffee and the feeling of impending doom waiting to be unleashed at any given time. (Okay fine, that was exaggerated) But in reality, my line of work puts much pressure on employees like me and my colleagues.
There's a lot to unpack here, but the best example I could give you of my work dynamic is the plot of The Devil Wears Prada. Except it's with less fashionable people (but equally fabulous nonetheless). Instead of getting Miranda Priestly — I work with people who are closer to my age and have a different view on work relationships than the old-fashioned "I'm your boss and I'm going to ruin your life" narrative (Oh thank God it's 2024, and a good year for some character development).
I love the people I work with in production, they're actually one of the reasons why I could even stand this job. I don't want to sound like any other 20-something-year-old, ranting about how she hates her job and wishes she could quit but can't for reasons a, b, and c. But the thing is, as glamorous as it does sound working for TV Production, it's just as hectic and stressful as any other corporate job (maybe even more tbh). I hear my peers who work outside of my industry say that my workload is insane and that it's definitely not for everyone. And I agree with that, so many newbies in the company just come and go (not even staying for 3 months) because it gets too much too soon, especially on bad days. And as for my batch, we're already considered the seniors in the program since we've lasted for more than a year (which comes as a surprise to others, because on the regular —most employees last between a few weeks to only 3 months).
I get it, working in TV is not like your typical job and requires so much more out of you than the regular employee. We don't get to clock out, and we don't have the privilege to enjoy holidays or weekends. We only get free time when all our deliverables are done, but we can only do so much in so little time that before we even know it —we're already starting another production week for the next airing. So now that I've painted that picture, let me take you back to the present time.
I was ranting on the phone with Jade about a very common issue in our job and that's the hassle of scheduling the shoots. Just because one has a shoot, doesn't exempt him/her from her other duties to attend like weekly meetings for pitching and post morts (especially for other programs). You have to find a way to make things work for you because each show is like an independent company — they have no business with each other, therefore, they act like the other doesn't exist. So when you're in the middle of scheduling tasks, meetings, and shoots, they will not coddle you just to accommodate the other show. It's either you find a way to be there and fulfill your obligations, or you're not doing your job right. (Even if they schedule meetings at the same time, it doesn't mean it's okay for you to present in one and absent in the other). So whatever it takes, even if you need to split yourself in half, you do it.
And right as I finished my task for the night, there was a sudden shift in my mood. I felt like I was in a higher vibration all of a sudden. It was so noticeably different how I was ranting and in a bad mood one minute, and I was grateful and content the next. It was so unusual that it prompted me to write this blog right now. I don't know what it is, but I have a very good feeling that better days are coming. I can really feel like a good change is on its way, and I feel like I will be receiving blessings upon blessings.
I am just in a good mood despite the heaping amount of work I know I have to get into really early in the morning. I don't know if this is like a preview or a sign that things are finally going to go my way, but I just can't shake off the sense of relief, the overwhelming joy, and the hope that things are finally going to turn for the better.
So I guess the only goal of this blog is to remind you that even if things are not going in your favor, in a split-second God can change it all around and you will be grateful.
Till next time my loves!
Love and light,
Zoey na randomly optimistic
