arc 8 ottosuba and mutually assured destruction (devotion)

basically i wanna talk about this again but more Specifically bc they are gonna fuck each other over so fucking bad. like this is the most disastrous combo of all time. you got natsuki subaru who has rbd AND a suicide pill in his fucking mouth that he can use at any time AND he will die as many times as it takes to save Anyone he cares about. and then you pair him with otto suwen, aka a devoted little freak whos willing to let entire countries and millions of people, including people subaru cares about, die to save subaru. and otto has died for subaru twice now and will gladly do so again on top of that. they are the absolute worst combo of all time bc natsuki "ill save you no matter how many times i die" subaru and otto "i would let anyone and anything die to save you" suwen are inevitably going to come into conflict. otto wont let subaru die at any cost but subaru having rbd means that hes gonna win no matter what. hes gonna get what he wants. hes gonna die and theres nothing otto can do to stop it. and even if otto does stop subaru, its a lose lose bc either subaru dies and uses the info he got to beat otto next time, or subaru and otto end up having more fights with each other anyway, or otto does end up stopping subaru in some way (example: otto wanting louis to die) and subaru gets pissed at him over it, or all the otto permadeath flags end up being real and otto dies permanently and subarus gonna be destroyed and i bet ottos still gonna be like "i told you we shouldve left vollachia when we had the chance" on his literal deathbed bc him permadying proves his literal point this whole arc. and subaru can save otto all he wants but if otto ever figures out this hurts subaru in any way ottos never going to get over it. hes gonna be upset and pissed forever. there is no winning with these two. their devotion is violent and theyve literally found their match in each other. bc their devotion strips the other person of their own free will and choice in the manner bc they keep saying "no. i have to save you no matter what, even if you get upset at what im doing and even if i do all of this behind your back without ever telling you." and if they keep being stubborn theyre just gonna end up dragging each other down - which is the exact opposite of their goals to save each other. they are likely going to kill each other by the end of this, metaphorically or not. and its going to be because of love. do you understand. how do you save someone who wants to save you first. how do you save someone whos devoted themselves to you, body and soul, in the most violent way possible.

also if otto manages to read the tome once its restored... he's gonna figure out rbd.

#the thing is that even if i always long for a relastionship...#i've never even been in one and idk how they work & im so scared of many things #i have sm troubles and issues with touch. i've gotten to a place where i cant even stand my own sisters or mom bumping into me #and outside i cant stand when someone accidentally walks into me or touching someone's legs on the bus #i hate it. it's not only feeling uncomfortable i feel distressed and scared and sick #smth that seems very normal in like all couples is that youre 'allowed' to touch eo all thge time whenever #that scares me a lot. like touch is so scary for me. and when youre in a relationship theres just this silent agreement that you can touch #eo all the time and thats like... how it's supposed to be.... ://#thats so scary to me. that theres this expectation and demand that if im someones gf they should be allowed to touch me whnever #and like i've never been in love and been in a relationship and been touched by that person so idk #maybe it wouldnt be an issue. but just thinking that.. i dont belong completely to myself and therefore give up #the right to not be touched if and when i feel distressed or uneasy is too scary for me #maybe i could learn to feel safe with them and want their touch but rn it scares me skskks #what if they kiss me when im feeling extremely sex reoulsed and wanna kill myself bc of my inner agony #and they get hurt when i try to pull away?#bc regardless of what ppl say... it is a truth that in a relationship youre exoected to want physical touch at all times #and it is seen as an insult to your partner if there are other forces within u (like trauma etc) that makes u sometimes uncomfortable w it #but yeah idk... the problem is that... in humanity and society #consent is one of the least important and prioritized things. as a humanbeing living u will have your consent disregarded countless times #and for me personally consent is one of the most important things. & thats one of the reasons why its so hard for me to live in this society #like yes i do want to have a partner and touch and be touched #but what if we're in the store and im feeling particularly bad that day and feel like #i need to turn myself inside out and peel my skin off and feel anxious and scared #and they just casually grab my ass?? then i will go home and kill myself :) or have a breakdown in the store lol #i dont want to go thru this but i also dont wanna put someone else thru it #and like it would be different if they asked first if i was ok being touched and i said yes #and if i said no theyd respect me and not get hurt #but like be for real.... almost nobody does that. and almost everyone thinks thats lame #in most relationships nobody asks eo. youre expected to just always be ok with it. if u want to be asked youre silly and demanding #nobody asks their partner abt that. that just dont happen lmao. so idk. :((( i wish i was normal

In talking about Chaucer (p. 74), I said that, in general, puns and verbal connections of sound were unimportant and not to be sought out; and now, you will say, I have been using them to explain cruces in Shakespeare. Alas, you have touched on a sore point; this is one of the less reputable aspects of our national poet. A quibble is to Shakespeare [Johnson could not but confess] what luminous vapours are to the traveller; he follows it at all adventures; it is sure to lead him out of his way and sure to engulf him in the mire. It has some malignant power over his mind.... A quibble was for him the fatal Cleopatra for whom he lost the world, and was content to lose it. It shows lack of decision and will-power, a feminine pleasure in yielding to the mesmerism of language, in getting one's way, if at all, by deceit and flattery, for a poet to be so fearfully susceptible to puns. Many of us could wish the Bard had been more manly in his literary habits, and I am afraid the Sitwells are just as bad.

i'm sorry this is so fucking funny. that pathetic loser shakespeare who loved puns so much it cost him everything, except of course his status as the most famous, most read, most immortal english-language author of all time. but everything else, he lost and it's all because of how weak he was to resist a pun :/ pouring one out for my sad little girly man who could have had it all if only he was better at writing, the thing he is the most famous guy in the world for.

also i can't get over writing a book about the types of ambiguity and NOT INCLUDING PUNS?? sorry but puns are ambiguous! that's where their juice comes from! imagine liking ambiguity so much you write a book about it but never mention puns except to dunk on them. imagine being a POET and POETRY CRITIC who looks down on sound-based ambiguity! could not be me!!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003 is a separate universe from the Usagi Yojimbo comics, and Usagi in the cartoon is a different character from comics canon. Usagi’s age is never mentioned in 2003. If someone wants to extrapolate his age and history from the comics, they’re welcome to, but it’s all conjecture.

the awful, heartbreaking, sucky part about reboot heihua is that while hei xiazi is systematically breaking xiao hua's heart into itty bitty pieces, as he is proving every single one of xiao hua's insecurities right, as he Doesn't Pick Xiao Hua- he isn't the bad guy. He isn't doing anything wrong.

Xiazi is allowed to be tired. He's allowed to make choices about his life and his body. He shouldn't have to consider OTHER people in making the best choices for himself. He doesn't have to seek treatment. He doesn't have to be some "strong disabled warrior" who fights and fights and fights. He is allowed to choose to live the rest of his life in peace and comfort. He is allowed to choose HIMSELF over Xiao Hua's desires. He isn't the bad guy.

Nobody is the bad guy. But it doesn't mean it doesn't fucking break your heart.

ykw actually I am angry + disappointed w them. I've been pushing how I feel aside and trying to make it my own fault so it's all contained but I think theyve just been mean. and they really should know me better ik I try to pretend I don't expect more from them so I feel less hurt when they do things that upset me but we've been friends for years by this point. like come on.

hi! i have some hypothetical questions:

is it be possible to have more than one intersex variation? maybe if one was a chromosomal variation and one was a hormonal variation, or etc? can you have more than one very similar variation (e.g. PCOS & CAH)? (i think that one would probably go undiagnosed if that was the case)

is hyperandrogenism outside of hyperandrogenic PCOS always intersex? i assume that hyperestrogenism is intersex too? what about hypoandrogen/estrogenism?

are uterus differences intersex (uterus didelphys, bicornate & septate uterus, etc.)?

and finally a personal question: i have hyperandrogenic PCOS & recently had a total hysterectomy. my surgeon told me i had a very small cervix, to the point where they almost had to convert to an open surgery because they didnt think they could use the cervical opening to pull the parts through. could that be related to hyperandrogenism? or was it just a coincidence/within the dyadic size variation?

So generally, most intersex variations are pretty mutually exclusive, and it all really depends on the underlying genetic cause. Some intersex variations we don't know enough about the genetic cause or how it functions to really have conclusive information about some aspects of it, and it might be hypothetically possible for some intersex variations to be comorbid. I am not an expert and really can't say more than that, but generally, most people are only diagnosed with one intersex variation.

For PCOS and CAH, that's a bit complicated. Currently, there are several proposed sets of diagnostic criteria for PCOS (Rottendam criteria, NIH criteria, and Androgen Excess Society criteria.) Generally, a key factor of PCOS is exclusion with other hyperandrogenic variations, meaning that you have to rule out things like NCAH before getting diagnosed with PCOS. But there are people who are misdiagnosed with PCOS when they actually have CAH, and people with CAH who have polycystic ovaries. So there is some overlap between the two, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are actually comorbid.

Hyperandrogenism is not always considered intersex. If it's caused by Cushing's, tumors, or medication, that's generally not considered intersex. When it's caused by other congenital variations, it usually is considered intersex.

Hyperestrogenism in people with XY is considered intersex, although it's more commonly referred to as Aromatase Excess Syndrome.

Hypoandrogenism and Hypoestrogenism is called hypogonadism and it isn't always considered intersex, as sometimes it can be caused by injuries or infection. It is sometimes considered intersex, and is associated with intersex variations like Klinefelter's and Turners.

I think uterus differences are a little less clear cut-they aren't usually grouped together with intersex variations, and traditionally haven't been considered intersex. However, if people with uterus differences feel solidarity and benefit from the support of intersex community, I'm not going to tell people that they can't participate in intersex community. This is one of those times when it really comes down to self + community evaluation about whether or not intersex is a label that makes sense.

I couldn't really find any data showing definitively that PCOS causes a shorter cervix, although there did seem to be some association. So I don't really know for that one!

Overall when it comes to defining what is and isn't intersex, I usually refer back to InterAct's explanation of what intersex is:

An innate physical trait that falls under the umbrella of variations in sex characteristics, generally meaning that the variation:

Shows up in a person’s chromosomes, genitals, gonads or other internal reproductive organs, or how their body produces or responds to hormones;

Differs from what society or medicine considers to be “typical” or “standard” for the development, appearance, or function of female bodies or male bodies;

and is present from birth or develops spontaneously later in life

Is often significant or noticeable enough to cause stigma or violence in a person's life, whether through explicit discrimination or implicit ways that society enforces the sex binary

I'm not the authority on what is or isn't intersex, and there are definitely some areas where it's clearer than others. I just generally consider whether or not something is an innate physical trait not caused by temporary factors such as a medication, whether or not that trait causes variations in sex characteristics, and whether that trait is considered within the "typical" variation of dyadic sex characteristics or if it's outside the sex binary in a way that causes societal stigma. I'm not interested in telling people whether they are or aren't intersex or denying people intersex community resources if they feel like their variations meet the definition.
