Hey there lovelies-- I've had 3 hrs sleep today so the words on the screen are starting to run together. I'm still getting love notes from yesterdays request, and thank you so much, I promise i'm catching up to the messages, you all are the best crew someone could ask for. Thank you for spreading some joy in this crazy ass world.

Tonight I would like to send a reminder that we have not lost OFMD, as so many of said, we still have 2 wonderful seasons, and those boyfriends are currently boinking their way into oblivion in their inn, making their poor customers insane. But beyond that... had a discussion today with multiple dear friends / crewmates that made me feel a lot better about the whole thing too. I know it's months in the gravy basket now, but this is not the end for OFMD. Chaos Dad told us it was over, but in all honesty it still doesn't feel over. WBD is driving itself into the ground, Dad's been off at the WBD lot, it feels like things are moving in a better direction again. It may not be today, or tomorrow, or even the next few months, or a year or so, but I think we still have a chance to see the ending of our story.

And we've all said it before, but it bears repeating, even if it never happens, we get to make it happen. Stede and Ed live on in all our crazy ranges of work out there, that so many of you have been just CRANKING out lately, I've been astonished at how much new work I've seen from folks in the the fandom I know, and new folks I haven't met! It's so inspiring to see OFMD affect people so much that they felt they could put little pieces of themselves out into the world through art of all mediums.

I hope I'm making sense at this point.. if not, sorry about that! But know-- there's always hope. There's always S1 and S2, and the infinite universes we get to dream up from those two.

BITE THE APPLE is the FIRST FULL ALBUM of the fictional South Korean Co-ed group BRATPACK. Released on August 8th, 2024, the album housed eleven tracks, all of which were produced by the MOON SIBLINGS. Not a single member of BratPack could be found in the album's credits, but they're idols, not writers or producers.

The album's two title tracks, "TEMPASSION" and "BATTLE ZONE," were promoted for three solid months, making this their longest promotional period since their debut. They would take home only two music show awards, marking their first music show win ever as a group. 

BITE THE APPLE is a controversial album. Many people loved and hated it, but Twitter couldn't shut up about it, which was the whole point. Almanda Summers knows how to get the internet buzzing, good or bad, and with the particularly bloody yet sensual concept Bite The Apple went for, no one could shut up about this album. 

ACIDIC COMMENTARY: Bea was not given the same prompt as the other brats. She was asked, "What got you into music?" We're not sure why she was asked a question different from the others. This video was recorded before official track names were released.

With visuals inspired by the 2000 Japanese action film directed by Kinji Fukasaku Battle Royal, as well as biblical references scattered throughout their seven music videos, the group became Pinterest darlings and dominated Tumblr aesthetic tags. Though visually stunning, this would earn them the title, which I guess is supposed to be an insult, of a "visual group" meaning they were only good for their visuals not their music. BratPack stans would not take offense to this. Why would they? The argument was flimsy. Why are you mad they're stanning hot people with superb creative direction? Sounds like a personal problem.

However, the line distribution became more and more of an issue with fans as it felt like the girls were carrying the songs more often than not, with the three male members acting as backup vocalists or backup dancers. Though their lack of lines did not phase Chance and Jiu, Hajin often stole lines from his female counterparts during live performances. "I trained to be a singer. I'm going to sing." The youngest would say on a live stream. BratPack fans were split on how to feel about Hajin's attitude. As long as it didn't affect the group's dynamic, there's no harm in it, right? Plus, he was only stealing Brigett's lines. It's not like anyone is really here for Bridgett Lee. People only like her because of her brother. It's not an issue if she has fewer lines.

No One Is Recalling + Make it "NOIR"

No one remembers the Noir Bouquet OR Noir Bouquet doesn't want to be remembered. The SEEDs affected their continent too much. They've been fighting them off for years, but fail once they reach Hallritt, leading to the overall disaster. Notice how "NOIR" is in quotations. "Make it so that no one remembers."

"Six souls are worth a hundred." Six souls could save hundreds of lives, but hundreds of lives could also end because of the actions of the Six souls.

Badobarm isn't letting himself be corrupted by SEEDs, even though it seems to already be overwhelming him.

The damage has already been done to Noir's continent. Now, they're spectators to what will happen to the Red and Blue bouquets like a show.

They also mention being "upside down" a few times. Being upside down usually means that things aren't as they seem which definetely fits Noir. They're hiding something from the other bouquets.

Both Ever Red and All So Bad have glitch effects, while Aozora no Memory doesn't. The damage has already been done to the Blue Bouquet with Cielomort's death, leaving Red and Noir being spied on by SEEDs.

There's a quick shot of a moon probably in the first quarter. A first quarter moon can mean a call to action.

The sun (Hallritt) brings warmth and comfort, guiding the way, but the moon (Badobarm) is always chasing behind the sun, carrying the weight of the dark and scary things night brings (unwanted memories). They stay in the same sky (Cielomort), who watches over both them.

Last month year at the wiki — 2023

As we all head into our second full week of 2024 (already!), we at Encyclopedia Exandria are taking the time to look back at what we accomplished in 2023 in this special edition of Last Month At The Wiki.

Encyclopedia Exandria reached its first anniversary in June 2023. We the editors are still proud of our decision to become an independent wiki, and we continue to work hard on our coverage of all things happening at Critical Role Productions. Here's a look at some of the work last year:

We moved episode transcripts into their own special namespace in February. Check out the post about the change and what this meant for the wiki. We also started creating transcripts in languages other than English.

Cuisine for Exandria is a wonderful new article from 2023! We're looking toward creating more broad topic articles like that one in the future.

In April, we completed a first pass rewriting text plagiarized from episodes. This was an issue inherited when we split into our own wiki in 2022 that affected especially late Campaign 1 and early Campaign 2 articles. We've been working on it ever since and continue to work toward a plagiarism-free wiki.

We've done a lot of work on Campaign 1 items! Some notable additions and overhauls include: Horn of Fog, Bloodseeker, Mantle of the Tempest, Circlet of Wisdom, Titanstone Knuckles, and Philter of Love.

Articles for Geek & Sundry era Critical Role episodes were updated to include current thumbnails, tabbed in the infobox behind the originals. It's been wonderful to cross that longstanding item off the to do list. Check out examples at Vorugal (episode) and The Chapter Closes.

Midst and Candela Obscura joined the channel in 2023. We're pleased to be covering both shows as well, but it's hard to link to all of it here. You can navigate through our Midst and Candela Obscura topics off the main articles and using the navboxes at the bottom.

All character articles now have verified "Appearances and mentions" sections! Before we were an independent wiki, character articles had these sections collated using a script from a list that used to live in the infoboxes and from "Featured characters" sections on episode articles. These lists were slowly checked manually to ensure that they they were properly formatted, organized, and correct. That work is finally completed.

With the Frozen Sick topic completed this year, we now have complete coverage for all adventures in Explorer's Guide to Wildemount!

Over time, we changed the way we formatted our 4-Sided Dive articles. Earlier articles were finally brought into line with the newer formatting this year, delivering information to you in a more consistent manner. Such quality of life maintenance for readers often goes unnoticed but is critical to ease of use.

Some other new articles that we're real proud of this year? Battle of the Red Center, Quest for Vestiges, Angels of Iron conspiracy, Currency, Fjord's crew, and Comics.

This is not nearly all of the work we've done. It's only a small slice of the work we accomplished and are proud of in 2023. If you've got a favorite update to the wiki not mentioned here—a new article, an overhaul, a quality of life change, or a backend update—let us know!

If you want to contribute to the wiki in 2024, we welcome you! Our wiki is open to editing by all readers, and our coverage is maintained and improved by our community. Everything from plot summary additions to spelling and grammar corrections are an immense help. If you need any help, feel free to check in with us on article talk pages and at the wiki's Discord.

We hope to continue to maintain this wiki throughout this year.

some things I love about my perfect CR (aka the reality I'm going to live soon):

• revised my entire life to my desires; revised my age to 16, and went back to September 2020 from March 2024 (well I guess it's 2020 right now so... I made it so that this year was 2020)

• my skin is never bumpy or pimply, or itchy (this was Hell for me in my past reality)

• my room is big, Baroque-style-fancy + whimsigoth, light blue, and looks a lot like the room in time princess; with lots of pretty furniture, a balcony, a reading nook, two altars for the deities I worship; and a huge gorgeous, gaudy four-poster bed (think princess-like), etc. (I used to have a small, white room that I had to share with other too many other people 🙄 I had to keep my altar in a miniscule cabinet, and only had space for one... my room is now the size of my OR apartment, so I no longer have that problem lol) + decorated with my fave fandom stuff/interests + full of amazingly beautiful furniture

• life like a fun teen movie or slice-of-life anime (in a good way, not the racist, fucked up way... Anyway, I used to barely go outside for fun, and didn't have much money to do stuff, and sure as hell didn't get invited anywhere... still salty about that)

• I never get headaches, stomach aches, cavities, most pains, etc. (I left period cramps cuz I wanna feel human... But yeah in my past CR I was sick and in pain a often, it was almost a personality trait at a certain point 😭 But not anymore!)

• I'm always hygienic and clean no matter what + I have the most perfect skincare and hair care products for me + I always smell like cotton candy and/or caramel (I used to be stinky and had weird shit going on w/ my body... Embarrassing)

• I have lots of Hot, Rich and Intelligent friends who absolutely adore me and listen to me and low-key worship me (let's just say this was very much not the case in my OR; most of my friends were NOT ride-or-dies for me... and most we're hot HRI...)

• homework is extremely easy for me because I just revise/wish it done + extremely high IQ, even though IQ is technically bs (I was only book smart in my OR, and even that started the die w/ age cuz of short attention span) + kid genius to adult genius pipeline

• family is super kind to me and are emotionally intelligent and perfect + spoil me and dote on me endlessly w/ money and affection (my OR family were nice 60% of the time, but were 40% toxic and stingy, which is still too much... 60% is barely a passing grade!)

• gigantic mansion.

• no but like, GIANT MANSION. It's literally something out of a fairytale, it's interesting and magical and full of secrets, lore and history (and, as I've stated before... My room. Is now. The size. Of my. OR apartment.)

• well-behaved younger siblings (they barely exist rn, but they will, and I'm excited to have younger siblings that don't make me want to kms when watching them)

• I was never parentified or had to raise anybody's kids

• immediate family won the lottery so we never run out of money + I have a magical, interdimensional job (it's fun but I won't share any details cuz it's top secret... Just know I make bank)

• really great and talented artist + great at the all the arts, whether sketching, painting, musical, performing, martial, etc. (in my OR I was barely so-so at drawing, and DEFINITELY behind my peers + I didn't know how to fight or play instruments)

• I have a HRI, kind, responsible and brooding bodyguard/personal assistant around my age (he's not in my life yet, but he will be... I shouldn't simp for him, but... 😩)

• now a triplet (I remember seeing a success story where anon manifested being a triplet, so I was like, yeah! I want that, too! I used to be a twin in my OR) + I have good relationship with all of my family

• me and my family are super intelligent + my parental guardians now have their dream jobs and are super educated (one's a lawyer with their own firm and the other is has their own restaurant and is now studying to be an engineer, plus we make a lot from stocks w/ 0 losses)

• me and my siblings have amazing singing voices (amazing range)

• I go to an extremely beautiful, fancy high school (my OR high school was super mid)

• manifested a fancy, wealthy and fun town into existence (used to live in a good but unwalkable town in my OR that is now next to my CR town)

• fancy walk-in closet and my own fancy bathroom (trust me when I say this; your jaw would drop at the beauty, just as pretty as my room)

• full health, whether mental or physical, for my immediate family

• perfect and ideal hair + skin

• I have everything from my desired scripts + everything I want that I haven't written down

This time, we're celebrating the release of the last book in the series, She Serves the Realm. In my historical fiction series, No Man is Her Master, the novel’s protagonist and the married Lady Cecily Baldewyne engage in a torrid illicit romance. What makes their love affair doubly dangerous is that the recipient of Lady Cecily’s affection, Christina Kohl, is another woman who leads her life in the male guise of her supposedly-dead brother, Frederick. In the soon-to-be-released fourth novel in the series, She Serves the Realm, Lady Cecily learns her husband is dead and she is at last free to wed her beloved. Consequently, according to 14th century English law, Cecily is no longer guilty of adultery. But, if the authorities discover the truth of Christina’s gender, would they punish the two lovers for the crime of homosexuality instead? Probably not. First, medieval society largely viewed sex as a penetrative act aimed at procreation. Consequently, by this interpretation sex between women was impossible because, if it was sex, one of the participants must be a man and what they were doing then did not fall under the definition of an unnatural act. Is the fact Christina and Cecily engage in lovemaking an unusual act for lesbians of the Middle Ages? Apparently not. Etienne de Fougeres, the chaplain of King Henry II of England, authored a satirical poem in 1170, Le Livre des Manières, alluding to women’s desire for sex within their own gender: These ladies have made up a game: with two bits of nonsense they make nothing; they bang coffin against coffin, without a poker stir up their fire. They don’t play at “poke in the paunch,” but join shield to shield without a lance. They have no concern for a beam in their scales, nor a handle in their mold. Out of water they fish for turbot and they have no need for a rod. They don’t bother with a pestle in their mortar nor a fulcrum for their see-saw.

Then did lesbians in the Middle Ages feel free to pleasure themselves and each other sexually without fear of legal repercussions? Seemingly so, as there are only about a dozen recorded instances of civil or ecclesiastical trials of women associated with the practice. Of these, most of the accused had ignored one of the key elements in the definition of the punishable crime of sodomy. In one of the extremely few cases prosecuted against a woman, the German imperial court sentenced Katherina Hetzeldorfer from the Rhineland town of Speyer to death in 1477 for wanting to “have her manly way” with women, some of whom testify against her. Upon examination, the defendant admitted that she used a piece of wood held between her legs and had constructed a wooden device covered with leather and stuffed with cotton to penetrate her partners. Although obviously still incapable of procreation, the good burghers of Speyer consider her acts sufficiently heinous to drown Katherina in the Rhine River for her crime. Christina hides the secret of her true gender well, as revealing herself as a woman would ruin her standing as a Hanseatic merchant and clearly perturb King Edward II who had seen fit to knight her. It’s reassuring to know what she and Cecily share in their bedchamber will probably not be the potential cause of their demise.

Fantasy, historical, romance and mystery. Sometimes several of those in the same book

Best book you’ve read so far in 2024?

Probably The Briar Book Of The Dead, by A. G. Slatter if we're talking about novels only. But the graphic novel Rivages Lointains by Anaïs Flogny is just so good, I'm obsessed with it. If you can, please read it, it's French but it's been translated into English and Italian

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2023?

The only ones I've read were either manga or the full Dr. Greta Helsing trilogy by Vivian Shaw, which I've read back to back. So either that (book 3, Grave Importance), or the manga Requiem Of The Rose King, by Aya Kanno, that I reread and finally finished after YEARS (yes the ending ended ME)

New release you haven’t read yet, but want to

There are way too many, and I keep seeing more at work, I'm gonna die of frustration. Evocation by S. T. Gibson is eyeing me very strongly because of the internet. As is The Spare Man by Mary Robinette Kowal, from where it's sitting on my coworker's display (it only came out in February in France)

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

I don't know honestly. The one book I was really waiting for this year was A Crane Among Wolves because I loved June Hur's previous books, and since I've read it now (it's very good btw), I'm not waiting for anything else

Update I learned something as I was writing this post: HEAVENLY TIRANT MIGHT STILL BE COMING OUT THIS YEAR???? DECEMBER 24????? MERRY FUCKING CHRISTMAS TO US???? HELLO?????? After Xiran told us the release date had been pushed back I thought for sure it would come out next year but apparently not so YEAH THAT'S MY MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE OF THE YEAR, PERIOD

Biggest disappointment

It's a toss between How To Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie, and A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft, for reasons that are very different. If it wasn't for that ending, How To Kill Your Family wouldn't even be there but unfortunately. And A Far Wilder Magic just wasn't for me. I didn't expect it to be YA romantasy so I was sorely disappointed

Biggest surprise

Probably A Sign Of Affection by Suu Morishita? Don't get me wrong, I love shoujo (I know, I don't like romance novels but I love shoujo, it makes no sense, don't look at me) and I thought I would like it but I didn't expect to like it this much

Book that made you cry

I cry so often when I read/watch/listen to things that it all gets mixed up in my memories. I think I cried for Rivages Lointains, I definitely cried for Requiem Of The Rose King HAHA. I might have cried for Run Away With Me, Girl by Battan, I'm not sure. All of those are manga by the way, I don't remember if I cried reading a novel this year

Book that made you happy

The Bandit Queens made me happy because the ending was great (unlike How To Kill Your Family) which healed me a little

Most beautiful book cover of a book you’ve read so far this year

Aaaaaaa I don't know. The cover (and sprayed edges) for the French edition of A Far Wilder Magic are a big part of why I even bought it in the first place, but also A Crane Among Wolves...... And of course Aya Kanno's art is just so beautiful, all the covers for the Requiem Of The Rose King series are 👌

How are you doing with your year’s goal?

I had set a goal of 40 on goodreads/storygraph but I might have underestimated how work would impact my reading habits. But also, I'm not dead set on reaching that goal, I just want to read

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

I'd love to read more of the books I already own because it's becoming a problem. Other than that, there's no urgent need

finally have time to sit down and talk about everything that's been happening recently and im so excited to just get everything out

work:

work is okay only because my officemates; pero grabe yung isang boss namin, i dont want to go into full detail pero sobrang toxic niya and its affecting everyone and i really wish our other boss can do something about it

i have so so so so so much to do and tbh honest i dont know paano ko siya kinakaya

we worked the ticket booth nung weekend sa bobapalooza and it was super stressful pero at the same time the pay is good so okay lang plus also duh free concert and food and drinks so i have little to complain about really

life:

im just so excited for the weekend kahit na may work ako on saturday; im excited to sleep in on sunday and possibly offset a day next week

may sweldo na bukas thank you lord plus the money i made off of working nung weekend is good too

my bestfriend and i were supposed to go to a rug making thing in bf pero naubusan kami ng slots

im sick! and i hate it! grabe yung ubo ko, i dont know if its from all the pagod of last week or may allergies ba ko idk

Yeah, Raft Ride ~ The Story So Far - through my commitment to the bit, I had to try and talk about a LOT of different jokes and bits, ones I'd expressed fondness for already, and ones I still didn't know what to really make of. Of course, it was balanced out by the very nature of the event being that I didn't take the posts all too seriously, I wrote a good few of them half-asleep at my desk, yet serious or not, at 10:16PM on April 1st 2024, I reached Wanna See My Raft?. Right at that moment, I had to confront the demon I'd long wanted to ignore - and today, with A.U.B.R.E.Y (Vagrant Juice and Clams), I've decided its time to face the demon head-on. Today, we're talking about SML, and talking about Jeffy.

Truth be told, for as much as I love to think back to my youngest years on the internet, the affection I have for Dreamscape and Paralyzer and all that which I talked about in How 2 Do Anything - I somehow managed to avoid SuperMarioLogan for all that time. Maybe my YouTube recommendations were just kind to me, or my young brain just didn't really get the appeal of plush/puppet videos, but I steered clear of the channel despite its absurd popularity. If you've never heard of SML, you've missed an absolute titan of children's YouTube, a channel that gets 2 to 3 million views per upload, with videos made at a rate of 3 per week. Whether or not the videos are GOOD is another matter entirely - to some, its just typical Kids YouTube slop, but others have been following the channel's history for years and witnessed first-hand just how outright insane its storylines have become. What began as just a series of skits with Mario characters in wacky situations slowly began to get edgier in the mid-2010s YouTube landscape: the videos would play with outright racist and homophobic jokes, depictions of sex work and drug abuse, full-on SUICIDE jokes - all still attached to a channel with Mario puppets and with a target audience consisting mostly of children. It got to the point where Nintendo themselves had to step in with a legitimate pen-to-paper DMCA takedown request - and in the years since, the channel has continued on much the same course, but with all Mario characters replaced with human look-a-likes.

It's an absolutely insane rabbithole to go down, a core pillar of kids YouTube's seedy underbelly, yet one that for some reason or another keeps being brought up in online discussion, mainly by terminally online adults like myself. And so, SML-posting began sneaking its way into SiIvaGunner's rips as early as the start of Season 4 Episode 1, but has slowly been growing in frequency as of late, all headlined by SML's new mascot post-Nintendo takedown - Jeffy. A comic relief stupid shithead character now sitting as the channel's main character, Jeffy is, put bluntly, an outright agent of chaos the likes of which I do not wish to describe in detail. A demon in man's clothing, a creature unable to be tamed, a man who fears no god. And, indeed, the main star of SuperMarioLogan, and by proxy, the main voice to be heard in all rips made of the channel.

In a way, Jeffy is akin to those "cursed" SiIva memes that have always existed in some form or another. Astronaut in the Ocean, Yankin, The Bean - I've covered the former two plenty in rips like Aquarium in the Ocean and the latter's infamy is one of the most notable events from Season 1 of the channel. Yet in comparison to those three, Jeffy's prominence on SiIva seems to have slipped under the radar in a lot of ways, his true power yet to be felt. There hasn't been an SML takeover, none of the rips have truly blown up - its as if the demon is biding his time, known to be lurking only by some channel die-hards like myself, yet still obscured from the public consciousness of the masses. And in the meantime, we're getting rips like A.U.B.R.E.Y (Vagrant Juice and Clams) - all paying a disturbing amount of reverence and attention to this false deity.

Kirby Planet Robobot is a very special game on SiIvaGunner, and has been since the start of Season 2, arguably even since The Reboot: Through rips like Mother's・Caption (We Paused The Channel For HOW Long?! Mix) and The Noble Haltmann, it is THE game most closely tied to the channel's ongoing lore in the Christmas Comeback Crisis, the kind of game where any rip of it is bound to catch the attention of viewers. Of the game's soundtrack, P-R-O-G-R-A-M sits above all in terms of significance, tied to everything from The Reboot to the Inspector Gadget takeover of Become as Gadget - its a theme that is at once intense and climactic, yet also sounds as if it is falling apart at the seams, a digital system being broken apart by an unknown invader. And amidst all of this context, all this weight that P-R-O-G-R-A-M holds - or at least, has held to me ever since way back in 2017 - we get a rip of it using fucking JEFFY. And I'm supposed to just understand what that means and move on with my life?

All jokes aside, I do genuinely have to admire the effort put into A.U.B.R.E.Y (Vagrant Juice and Clams) despite (or, god forbid, BECAUSE) of its sources. The core of the rip uses several different Jeffy sources, primarily the bizarrely-real songs performed by the character himself, Wanna See My Pencil and Why?, referencing the characer's main running gags - these are mixed together with other Jeffy-related SML clips to add to the cacophony of noise throughout the rip. Althewhile completely left-field sources are added to..."compliment" the main track - the full-blast sound of Keemstar yelling, the "Nintendo Diss Track", a section played to the tune of Penis Music (dong music, anyone?)...its all so utterly unhinged, yet remains...ominous, in a way, throughout? Like, I have to admit that it does all kind of work, I love the use of WHYYY? for the bridge - but I still can barely even discern what would drive one to gas up JEFFY of all memes to the extent AubyLover29 has done here.

Then again, AubyLover29 in general is a bit of an enigma on the channel - you may have noticed that the title A.U.B.R.E.Y (Vagrant Juice and Clams) has absolutely nothing to do with the joke of this rip whatsoever. This is a constant with all of AubyLover29's rips: they're titled around hit character Auby from Omori rather than their actual contents, and her online presence outside of her rip contributions is seemingly completely nonexistent. Its just one more quirk atop this pile of bizarreness - it all reminds me of when I first had to dig into waterwraith pokos all those months ago. Only here, Jeffy's prominence of the channel is gradually becoming less and less of a secret - his rate of appearances has only gone up since A.U.B.R.E.Y (Vagrant Juice and Clams)'s upload, and I fear for what may happen when a takeover inevitably comes. May god help us all.

2024 Giro d'Italia Women in review

With a week to think about the Giro d'Italia Women, we have some thoughts on the race overall, just as we did with the Vuelta Feminina. And since we're in the beginning of the Olympic break, let's look back at one of the most exciting Giros we've ever seen.

Heat was a constant companion.

Possible the biggest—and certainly most constant—factor in this year's Giro was the heat, which stayed punishingly high throughout the race. Domestiques had to make constant trips back to the car for bottles, multiplying the effort they had to make to keep their teammates hydrated and safe. We can't think of many things less daunting than to have to go back to the car on a 9% climb, load up an extra 10 kilos of water and then chase to get back in the group, only to have to do it again and again.

The heat affected the standings, too. Clara Emond was in the blue mountains classification jersey when she had to abandon due to heat-related issues. There was quite a bit of attrition among the teams, with only one or two finishing with their full squad. (This might be a good idea to mention that heat would be more manageable if the race was later in the year, see below.)

2. Forza Italia!

For the first time since 2008, the Giro has an Italian at the top of the podium, and it just seems right. Elisa Longo Borghini showed herself to be the strongest across different stages and terrains, and after being on the podium thrice before, we can't think of anyone more prepared or deserving of the win.

3. Chapeau to the race organizers.

This was the first year that RCS Sport, the organizer of the men's Giro, had taken over the women's Giro, after a few rocky years of poor (or non-existent) media coverage and organizational issues. The change appears to have been generally positive. Media coverage of the Giro was good; even though it wasn't start-to-finish, we had no trouble watching the race. And the stages and courses were thoughtfully designed, keeping the race interesting throughout. Previous Giros have seen the GC locked up in the first or second stage, but this year the tension built throughout the week and we saw a fair amount of shake-ups in the third through tenth places, a good sign of a challenging and competitive course.

4. The schedule still isn't perfect.

With perhaps the most exciting and competitive Giro d'Italia Women ever, it's a shame that it still has to compete with the Tour de France Hommes. Lots of avid cycling fans understandably prioritize the Tour, which we have to admit was incredibly exciting this year. We think it's definitely an improvement to have the women's Giro take place during the second week of the men's Tour rather than the first, but we still would prefer to see this oldest women's grand tour to have its own space on the calendar, and there is room to do it, if the organizers are willing to break with tradition. We personally would prefer late summer, closer to when the men's Vuelta is being held, but we're open to suggestions. A race this exciting doesn't deserve to be drowned out.

5. Young riders announce themselves.

We saw several young riders stamp their name on this race, which was a delight to see. We loved to see Kim le Court's last stage victory, or Clara Emond's long-range solo attack, or Neve Bradbury's stage win to follow up on her Tour de Suisse stage win. These riders are flying, and they are so much fun to watch, we are excited to see what more they will do.

6. Love for the non-super teams.

Stage racing in 2024 was basically the SD Worx-Protime show, until July. We can't blame someone like Demi Vollering for showcasing her talent, and she certainly had the strongest team—when they chose to support her. But it was nice to see a really competitive stage race that went down to the line, with multiple teams battling for the podium. AG Insurance-Soudal had a great Giro, rewarding steady effort by the whole team with a stage win by Kim le Court and the mountains classification by Justine Ghekiere. EF Oatly Cannondale scored a stage win with Clara Emond's solo breakaway win, and Bepink–Bongioanni was represented by Ana Vitória Magalhães in both the mountains classification fight and several breakaways. Neve Bradbury made Canyon-SRAM proud by taking a stage win, the young rider jersey, and the third step on the GC podium.

With the Giro in the books, and particularly since Baloise Ladies Tour wrapped up, we now have a long break in most schedules to allow for the Olympics to take place, before we once again turn our attention to the road and the Tour de France Femmes in August!

My backstory: I'm an ornithologist who focuses primarily on vultures. While working with a lappet-faced vulture who lives at my place of employment (a bird sanctuary), we're attacked by a supervillain who can combine things, resulting in me becoming a lappet-faced vulture hybrid. Unfortunately, due to my newly-found mutation, I find it hard to integrate into society and end up seeking out people like me who have been mutated/have super powers.

How we meet: While in a meeting for super humans, I meet Lord Nighty-Knight and befriend him as he also went through an event similar to me that led to his abilities (an accident that caused him to become a being of shadow). However, while I went a more neutral route, he became a villain and joined the Doom Syndicate.

First impressions: I have a pretty immediate crush on Nighty-Knight. He's very unique and I find it attractive. I think he's sweet and I like talking to him.

Nighty-Knight also quite likes me when we first meet. He regards me with interest and thinks I'm nice. We bond easily over our shared origins as well and have several enjoyed topics in common.

Getting closer: After the meeting, we exchange contact information and keep in touch. Even after he ends up becoming a full-blown villain (and knows I don't approve), we still stay friends, starting to meet more often and go out for little dates together. During this time, my crush becomes a lot more obvious with me pining after him, so I ask him out on a date.

He's startled by this as he's quite oblivious to my flirting but ends up agreeing to go out on a date. We start going out more often on dates as we become closer in our relationship.

Beginning our relationship: I ask him to start a relationship with me awhile after we start dating and he agrees, excited to take this next step in our relationship. He's also aware that I'm planning on proposing to him in the near future as we would love to be married.

Nighty-Knight really likes both physical affection and acts of service. He loves being cuddled and kissed; it makes him feel warm and happy inside. Being a supervillain means he's quite busy, so I like to do things for him - it makes him feel loved and appreciated.

Favorite kind of date: Coffee dates are a favorite of ours. We both enjoy coffee so it's nice to go to a quiet cafe and enjoy drinks together, talking about our weeks.

Ways we comfort one another: We encourage each other verbally as a form of comfort. It's nice to be reminded that it will be okay or that we are there for one another - it's a shoulder to lean on and someone to trust when it gets rough.

What we love most about each other: He loves my care for all living things. I'm passionate about caring for others - humans, animals, and plants alike. He thinks that is an admirable trait and appreciates it about me.

I love his personality. He acts so tough and uncaring but he is extremely caring underneath it all. I love how sweet and funny he is as well. He's a very cool person and I love spending time with him.

golden dreams. golden kingdom. set in the golden kingdom. a high-fantasy drama where i run wild with my headcanons. zoisite is madly in love with kunzite but is repressing it.

in the dark of the night. dark kingdom. 90s anime timeline.

the moonlight carries the mesasge of love. revival. after galaxia has been dealt with and metallia has been quelled, the reborn shitennou finally awake to their true power - their curses finally broken. marion, the reborn zoisite, makes his way from russia to japan and there - has to figure out how to make amends to the price he twice betrayed, and the guardians he tried to kill.

fragmentary abyss. honkai. one of diamond's four 'assistants', known for both his beauty and exceptional ruthlessness. zoisite has only ever known life in the ipc, and while he bears a stone name (and stone fragments) he is not considered to be a stoneheart.

all four of diamond's assistants are vidyadhara... though were may be the better tense. while all four were once high elders this is a title they can no longer hold. and the vidyadhara do not claim them as kin.

you see, these four were thought lost after the vidyadhara had to flee their homeland. their pearls were shattered, though it is difficult to know if this shattering occurred upon their deaths or if they were stolen and shattered in the attempt. there is no one left alive who can tell the true tale, and the men themselves hold but vague concepts of who and what they once were.

in time these fragments appeared on the black market, before finally falling into the hands of the IPC. they were pieced back together using fragments of cornerstones. they are not recognized by the vidyadhara as the same beings they once were and are viewed as abominations - the breathing equivalent of zombies. though they have access to many of the abilities now lost (shapeshifting, full dragon transformation, mastery of elements) they are unable to use cloud hymn magic and it is unknown if their mangled pearls will allow them to revive should they die again.

the sun goes out. genshin. in a past life, "zoisite" was the szhneznaya god dazhbog, who was said to rule over fire and the sun. dazhbog took many forms - a black tortise, a fire-breathing horse, a beautiful man and an equally beautiful woman. all imagery associated with this god has been lost to time, save for the descendants of his most devoted and the entities long-lived enough to remember his quick wit and sharp smile.

during the archon war, dazhbog aided the cryo archon and gained a new dominion - war. the god was known as a fierce combatant, unrelenting and unwilling to call defeat. he achieved victory at any cost - and, as he would go on to tell others, that cost was very nearly his soul itself. when the dust settled his kingdom was decimated, and he had lost the will to rule as a god after witnessing the cruelty that his kind inflicted upon their own. dazhbog left this homeland and ventured to khanri'ah with his three closest friends, believing that the time of gods was done and it was time to entrust the future of the world to mankind. the four of them took human form and worked as guardians to the royal family. they served as loyal guardians to the kingdom.

which... ultimately proved to be their downfall.

dazhbog became infected with forbidden knowledge. there was still enough of him to save, though what survived was but a fragment. dazhbog and his fellow gods faded from existence, 'reborn' centuries later as ostensibly human children. he was found abandoned at the foot of a the rubble of a long forgotten god, and was raised by handlers to be an assassin.

each reincarnated guardian bears the scars of what they had witnessed that day - for dazhbog, renamed zoisite, this manifested in his left eye. no longer did it bare the star-shaped pupils of his chosen human guise, it now looked like a nova. multiple pupils all within one gaze, the mark of one who had glimpsed truth not meant to be known.

zoisite was raised within the fatui, and due to his great talent and thirst for knwoledge, was sent on a mission as a spy (how active he is depends largely on who he's threading with) to sumeru where has been living since he was about thirteen. he's a scholar in spantamad as is well on his way to becoming sage.

he has a unique talent for magic, allowing him to use all elements offensively. it's rumored that his distorted eye (which he claims to be blind in, opting to cover it with his hair) grants him sight beyond sight. in truth, his abilities allow him to tug at the fabric of the reality.

a question of duty .final fantasy vii. a member of the turks, "zoisite" joined shinra with the intentions of becoming a SOLDIER as all young boys do. when this fell through, the young man was instead recruited by the turks.

hailing from cosmo canyon, zoisite has a surprising connection to the earth - if you trace his lineage back far enough, you'll find cetra. but not nearly enough to hear the planet's call. even if he could, the young man's thirst for power dwarfs his sense of duty to it.

thoughts on chess? hey it's fun, it's a cool game, but holy shit there are some overly competitive people out there. i love creative chess set designs tho.

american football? let me be clear: i grew up in the american south - american football was all anyone talked about. do i understand any of it? no. do i enjoy it? also no. will i take any opportunity to get free food? yes, and so i ended up going to a lot of superbowl parties. i don't like the sport however.

brushing teeth? i actually got up and went to brush my teeth so i could answer this question. turns out i start on the bottom left.

carrots? okay i gotta be honest i have a hard time getting behind the texture of carrots. i think it's because of that thing where a the force to bite through a carrot is similar to how much you need to bite through a finger? anyway the only thing i can really eat them in is something where they match the shape of the food around them (like long strips of them in soba noodles or shavings of them in rice are two things i can get behind)

have you ever hugged someone and never wanted to let go? literally any time anyone genuinely hugs me. (not those silly family greeting hugs - i hate those). but like if someone gives me a hug goodbye, or just out of affection, i physically have to be removed from the hug because i wont let go on my own. (im so goddamn touch starved but we're not gonna talk about it)

paper? christ dude i fucking cherish paper. it's such a mentally ill english major thing to say, but i love the texture of rough paper. i've never used special paper for anything (aside from maybe fancy paper in art class) but i absolutely love homemade paper. it's got such Texture and it's so nice to smell and touch and write in. any paper that isn't perfectly smooth, or has texture is so so good imo

candles? i love candles!! fire is so rad, and i love to use smells as a sensory transition from one project/task to the next. candles, diffusers, gum, and cooking are some of my personal favourite ways to do that.

birds? one of my only memories from when i was younger was talking to a bird outside my window. i just imitated it and it would respond, and this happened all the time. i love birds (as long as they aren't big. fuck that one bird in particular at the zoo) also i fucking love crows.

2024 resolutions? i want to find people to care for. (heads up: deep personal shit) i'm finally in a position socially where im able to be authentic and caring with myself, and now i can turn that care outwards. i've spent the last ~4 years extremely closed off, and im around new people now and want to change that. i don't know if this goal will manifest in a romantic relationship or just deep friendships, but i want to take care of people and make them feel loved in a way i never had.

clouds? YES. dont even get me started on clouds, i love them so much and i find this fascinating.

secret handshakes? i feel like a major part of the handshake is that you show it off to other people, and therefore it's not really secret. i've had my fair share though, so i can't hate on them too much.

last time you smelled lavender? literally right now. like i said, very smell-sensory-oriented, and i have a candle burning right now that has lavender in it.

do you have a cooking oil of choice? i don't use a lot of things that require oil as a major ingredient specifically, so if i just need to have something in the pan i'll actually try to use butter if the food is okay with that. otherwise, i'll kind of just use whatever i have.

That was the question my brother's MD shrink 👨🏻‍⚕️ asked me in early 1993 after my brother had a 10-minute $185 medication adjustment consult visit. 💊 None of us knew that my brother would overdose 3 weeks later. 💔  I had to smile through the answer to his psychiatrist if only to be polite. Which reminds me to ask, "How are you doing?  After my birthday, Mercury Retrograde and a full moon, it's been dicey to say the least.  But it reminds me of a great Steve Winwood song lyric saying, "...you gotta roll with it baby." 🧻🎲🙃 Relationships can be challenging to say the least and every day in prayers I am finding my way through communications finding grace and ease, getting us out of any chaos or drama and asking Spirit 😇 for any and all positive guides, angels and whispers of guidance so that I can more efficiently contribute to others.  When you live this way there is never a dull moment.  Oh that reminds me, if your relationships are awesome between you and your partner, family, friends, relatives and co-workers I want to hear about it 😉 AND you won't need to join us for this Thursday's LIVE Zoom meeting all about relationships, of course for the rest of us, I will see you there!   PS. Call #4 Theme:  Relationship Clearings: Past/Present/Future We're basically house plants requiring air and water just with more complicated feelings and relationships!   Even if you consider yourself a loner type, human beings are all about relationships, family and we're part of the fishing tribe. Often relationships from our family and loved ones from our past haunt us and negatively affect our current ones, so it is vital to clear and recalibrate ourselves.

TGIWednesday: How ya holding up?

TGIWednesday News 📰

That was the question my brother's MD shrink 👨🏻‍⚕️ asked me in early 1993 after my brother had a 10-minute $185 medication adjustment consult visit. 💊 None of us knew that my brother would overdose 3 weeks later. 💔  I had to smile through the answer to his psychiatrist if only to be polite. Which reminds me to ask, "How are you doing?  After my birthday, Mercury Retrograde and a full moon, it's been dicey to say the least.  But it reminds me of a great Steve Winwood song lyric saying, "...you gotta roll with it baby." 🧻🎲🙃 Relationships can be challenging to say the least and every day in prayers I am finding my way through communications finding grace and ease, getting us out of any chaos or drama and asking Spirit 😇 for any and all positive guides, angels and whispers of guidance so that I can more efficiently contribute to others.  When you live this way there is never a dull moment.  Oh that reminds me, if your relationships are awesome between you and your partner, family, friends, relatives and co-workers I want to hear about it 😉 AND you won't need to join us for this Thursday's LIVE Zoom meeting all about relationships, of course for the rest of us, I will see you there!   PS.
