hey btw if you're in the USA at  2:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Oct. 4, they're testing the emergency broadcast system. your phone is probably going to make a really loud noise, even if it's on silent. there's a backup date on the 11th if they need to postpone it.

if you're not in a safe situation and have an extra phone, you should turn that phone completely off beforehand.

additionally, if you're like me, and are easily startled; i recommend treating it like a party. have a countdown or something. be surrounded by your loved ones. take the actions you personally need to take to make yourself safe.

i have already seen mockery towards any person who feels nervous about this. for the record, it completely, completely valid to have "emergency broadcast sounds" be an anxiety trigger. do not let other people make fun of you for that. emergency sounds are legitimately engineered to make us take action; those of us with high levels of anxiety and/or neurodivergence are already pre-disposed to have a Bad Time. sometimes it is best to acknowledge that the situation will be triggering for some, and to prepare for that; rather than just saying "well that's stupid, it's just a test."

"loud scary sound time" isn't like, my favorite thing, but we can at least try to prevent some additional anxiety by preparing for it. maybe get yourself a cake? noise cancelling headphones? the new hozier album? whatever helps. love u, hope you're okay. we are gonna ride it out together.

Here are some thoughts on Julien because I was thinking about him this morning 🥰

Good singer, great performer, not a huge vocal range

Ran away from home when he was pretty young, which is why he's a bit of a swindler now

He makes friends pretty easily, he knows how to connect with people quickly without it feeling forced

Plays the guitar

Julien and Morris have a kind of friends with benefits relationship going on (after Julien and John's separation); Morris has feelings for Julien and feels bad for him, Julien is very lonely and Morris is nice to him

Very stubborn, one reason why he doesn't talk to his family is because they haven't reached out to him first

Alcoholic before and after his time with JD

Friends with Patty and Jackie because Morris is Patty's brother

He hangs out with them a lot so they can keep an eye on him and so he's not quite so lonely

More mentally ill characters in sci-fi, in fantasy, in romance and fun and high stakes situations and everything in between, as the heroes, as complex individuals, multifaceted and treated with respect, not having their needs and differences ignored or skirted around but, again, not having them be their only trait or plot point/entire premise! Please, I'm begging, on my hands and knees, there's a place for these topics and characters in realistic, reflective and literary fiction, yeah, but there's also a place in those magical, mystical, action packed, mysterious and alien worlds, give them to ME

horror talked about how he felt, and got permission to make moved on saejun (look at tht rizzy lil man)

dust is self sacrificial and insecure, he lied when he said he was fine with this, not wanting to “hold him back”. horror wouldn’t have persued if dust had said otherwise.

dust is dishonest because he thinks it’ll make horror happy. he is jealous and completely certain this is a slow progression of horror inevitably leaving him, as he won’t need him anymore.

however his own feelings on the matter are selfish in his mind so he will continue to lie. horror can’t be expected to understand dusts every action and it’s dusts responsibility in this situation to speak up/ be honest

he will not. he is emotionally unstable and won’t resort to honesty until things get drastic. he’d sooner leave then “deprive” horror of something that makes him happy (in a way he himself cannot =) )

Dust doesn’t hate saejun, only himself, but that comes out in the way he acts. Horror hates dishonesty and tension will grow. Saejun begins to feel like he’s causing an issue.
