I can see Eddie trying to get Steve’s attention by using the vacuum trick on his neck and then showing up to Steve’s house to hang out again, to brag about his 'conquest.' He expected a reaction from Steve, but he did not expect him to be so angry that he stormed into the bathroom, slamming it behind him.

"Steve?" Eddie knocked gently on the door. "I didn't think you would get this mad."

Steve opened the door, a furious expression on his face.

"You didn't think that I would be upset that my boyfriend cheated on me?!" Steve exclaimed. "I know we haven't been dating for long, but I kind of thought that it was implied that we both weren't seeing other people. I mean, I told you that I wasn't seeing other people."

"You thought that I was your boyfriend?" Eddie asked.

"You didn't l? Oh, I am an idiot," Steve said.

"No, Steve, you're not! It's me, I'm the dumbass. Oh God, you asking me to the movies that were you asking me on a date! Our first date and I missed it! And you've been wanting to hang out a lot more. You've been holding my hand when you take me on walks. I just thought you didn't want me to get lost! You even told me that you stopped dating, that was you telling me that you weren't seeing anyone else!" Eddie said, running his fingers through his hair. "You gave me flowers!"

"Yeah, I don't know how to be any clearer than that," Steve said. "I just want to know who this person who gave you that hickey is. Were they a good kisser?"

"Wait, why haven't you tried kissing me?" Eddie asked.

"Answer my question first, Eddie," Steve said.

"No, you answer mine!" Eddie exclaimed.

"Fine! I thought we were taking things slow! It was nice," Steve snapped.

"Oh, Steve, I'm sorry. Ugh, I am an idiot. You're going to laugh. There is no one else. I, uh, tried to make you jealous by using the vacuum trick on my neck."

Steve paused, pursed his lips together, and then burst out laughing.

"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up, pretty boy," Eddie scowled.

"I love you, Eddie," Steve said, his eyes twinkling with mirth.

"What?" Eddie asked in alarm. "After what I just told you?"

"Yep, I love you!" Steve grinned.

Eddie smiled, cupping Steve’s face. He rubbed his thumbs across his cheekbones. He took one hand and began tracing the shape of Steve’s face, running a finger gently over his skin. Steve’s eyes fluttered close, and he sighed in contentment.

"What are you doing?" Steve asked softly.

"Soaking in the moment," Eddie said, and leaned his forehead against his. "I love you too."

Steve closed the gap and kissed him. Eddie wrapped his arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. Eddie sighed against his lips. Yeah, he was dreaming. He was definitely dreaming. Steve sighed and broke the kiss.

"So, you know you're my boyfriend now, right?" Steve asked.

"Yes, asshole, I do," Eddie replied.

"Just checking," he told him and went back to kissing him.

"Hey, Steve?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think, maybe, we can not tell Robin about the vacuum thing?" Eddie asked.

"I'll see what I can do, boyfriend."

"Really?"

"Just a friendly reminder."

Episode 6: More thoughts on Gator & Roy’s relationship

I need comfort fic of Gator being held down and given a safe space to break. lol. Fuck I may have to write it. Anyway, more thoughts and brain vomit after last nights episode. Warning for spoilers through episode 6.

Gator has decided to pit himself against Ole Munch and I am increasingly worried for his safety lol. This is undoubtably not going to end well. The heartbreaking thing is he’s doing it all for a man who has made him believe he isn’t worth anything if he doesn’t perform up to standard. Roy is a bastard. Let me just get that off my chest. Dude can’t catch a bullet fast enough.

Lorraine humiliated him and defied his authority, so he ruined her deal with the banker (Vivian). What’s interesting is the method of intimidation he uses. It’s as much psychological as physical. He isolates him and then rips the clothes from his body, in public, to prove his mastery. Vivians's connections, his money, none of it will save him. Roy can take whatever he wants and if Vivian doesn’t listen, it’ll be his life. For now, just his shirt.

We also saw a taste of what Dot told us about him last episode. While getting a haircut from his wife a Lyon Motors commercial comes on, and Roy becomes visibly angered at the sight of Wayne. When his wife Karen accidentally nicks him he slaps her before giving her an impatient lecture, and it’s obvious this isn’t the first time he’s struck her. And from the way Roy talks about “breaking a woman” and the photos in Dot’s file that we see at the end of the episode, we know he won’t hesitate to brutalize his wives.

I get so sick to my stomach imagining what growing up with this man would have been like. Things got kind of interesting when Gator arrived to tell him they’ve finished working over “Wayne” in the barn. After watching Roy assault his wife so casually, it was particularly poignant to watch the way Gator tip-toes around him. He talks the talk of a big man, independent and in control, but he behaves just like Karen - like a battered wife.

He tip-toes around Roy’s mood, reinforces his delusions and adjusts his speech and behavior at the first sign of displeasure to try and keep Roy happy and calm. When Roy lashes out in contempt to knock his feet off the table Gator flinches and lunges like he’s expecting something worse to happen and is caught off guard/relieved when it doesn’t.

Many people spank their kids, but we can only imagine the ways that Roy considers it appropriate to discipline an unruly child. While I 1000% believe Gator has been hit by his father before, it’s obvious that Gator isn’t used to being a failure in his eyes either.

The true hold Roy has over everyone in his life is mental. Manipulation and psychological torment are his first means of controlling others and pain is just a tool he uses to reinforce the message.

This obsession that Gator has with being a “winner” comes from Roy, who has made him believe that his value, usefulness, and not to mention safety come from measuring up to Roy’s expectations. And before now, Gator has been a golden child. But now that he’s on a losing streak and Roy is leaving bodies in his wake, Gator’s first instinct is to convince Roy that this is just a fluke by reminding him of his past success as an athlete in high school. My apologies to Gator lol, for previously assuming that his estimation of his own future in football was self-inflated.

We now know that Gator was an all state Quarterback. Which basically means that at one point in time Gator was recognized as the best high school QB in his state. He went from having a real possible future in football and getting out from under Roy, to being a washed-up henchman. He clearly still idolizes the version of himself who was on top of his game and that Roy could depend on to win. And whether he can admit it or not, he loaths the “sad puke” they both know he is now. He essentially promises Roy he can get back to being that guy, and he thinks that preventing the trouble he can sense Ole is about to start will right the wrongs of the past.

Shion's pet names are ridiculous! Will call you baby cakes all the time and then start calling you pumpkin the next day. Is he doing this because he's stupid yes but he also likes to see your little smile. All he wants is your goofy little smile 😘

Takeomi is a planner, always, and you're always going to be part of his plans. When he's talking about the future, you're going to be part of it. It's so sweet how casual he is about it, you two will just be laying down in his bed holding hands and he'll be mentioning how good you'd look with a ring on your finger.

Hanma is secretly a romantic. He's an adrenaline junkie in the end though, so he spins things to an insane degree. Sneaking up a ferris wheel and kissing you under the moonlight, telling you to skip school so you guys can watch the sunrise and sunset, skinny dipping at the beach! If it's a bit too much, he gotchu. He's fine with both of you just hanging out on your bed or chilling in the bath. He's not your typical love interest, but he's surprisingly understanding and sweet 😍

hellooo!! hope you’re doing well! So in my city whenever a drop of rain falls it’s immediately chaos, people drive worse than ever and lots of floodings happen. Today was especially rough as it was raining really bad, I got out of class at 4;30 and got home at 7, a trip that usually lasts around 20-40 min depending on traffic. I was stuck in traffic and was low on gas, the fastest way to get to a gas station was through a flooded road, though many were driving through it, it was still so scary. Literally called my mom, almost crying, not knowing if I could cross the road. Thankfully, i did cross it, praying to whatever that heard me the entire way. Got home absolutely exhausted, cramped and menstruating😆

“Hello?” 

“Ask her what’s taking so long,” says Sirius, leaning towards where James sits sprawled across the loveseat and dragging Remus with him by consequence. Sirius’ cartilage piercing is infected again, and Remus has finally resorted to trapping both of his hands in his to keep him from touching it. Sirius seems to feel alternately pleased and as though he’s being held prisoner. He shouts towards the phone, “Rem won’t heat dinner without you, and I’m starving!” 

James cups the speaker protectively, cradling the phone close to his ear. “Hey, lovie,” he says, voice soft enough that the other boys both still. “What’s going on?” 

A muffled voice on the other end of the line. James’ brow pinches. 

“Alright, that’s okay. You’re okay, right? Are you somewhere safe?” 

Remus’ chest tightens. 

“Put her on speaker,” says Sirius, mouthing at first, then louder, until his voice is a shrill whisper. “Put her on speaker, James.” 

“Angel, give me just a second, okay? I’m gonna put you on speaker.” James pulls the phone away from his face, whispering hurriedly to the others. “Her tire blew on the motorway.” He clicks a button. 

“Hey, baby.” Remus can hear your stuttering breaths through the speaker, a forewarning that you’re holding back tears, and Sirius’ desperate tone is a match for them. “Are you okay?” 

Remus strokes his thumb over his boyfriend’s hand. Settle down. 

“I’m fine.” It’s a relief to hear your voice, though it reaffirms Remus’ fears, thick and slightly tremulous. “I, um, my tire blew and the car kind of went out of control, so I panicked and ended up pulling off in the shoulder of the fast lane. I keep thinking people are going to hit me.” 

Remus leans towards the phone, ignoring the twinge in his chest and summoning his surest tone. “Nobody’s going to hit you. Just keep your hazards on, they’ll go around you.” He glances outside. It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there. “Do we still have the spare tire in the trunk?” 

“Um, I think so? I’m not sure. I’m a little bit scared to get out and check.” 

“We should go,” Sirius whispers. 

“How?” Remus asks, not unsympathetically. “She has the car, love. We can’t very well walk there.” 

“There’s no rush,” James says to you. His light tone is at odds with his terse expression, fingers wrapped tight around his phone. “You can go look for it when you feel ready.” 

Suddenly, they can hear the sounds of the motorway through the phone. You must have put them on speaker, too. Remus can picture you in the car, setting your phone in the cupholder and pulling your legs up onto your seat. When you speak, it sounds muffled, as though your voice is coming from behind your hands. “I’m really sorry. You guys should eat dinner, I think I’m going to be awhile.” 

Sirius makes a distressed sound in the back of his throat. “Hey, I was just fucking around about dinner, babydoll. Don’t worry about that. We’re all okay, yeah?”

“Okay.” You sound close to tears. 

“Sweetheart,” Remus interjects, “can you take a deep breath for me? Just take a second.” 

There’s a thick pause, the sound of your breath crackling through the speaker. Remus does it with you, trying to relax the tension in his own chest. He notices James’ shoulders drooping on your exhale, too.

“Thank you,” Remus says softly. “You’re fine, yeah? You can handle this.” 

“Yeah.” You sound frail, but better. “Sorry.” 

“What for, my love?” James asks lightly. “Seems like luck just wasn’t on your side this time, s’got nothing to do with you. Listen, I’ll talk you through changing the tire in case there’s anything you forgot, and then we can worry about you merging back on when it comes to that. There’s no rush, okay?” 

“Okay,” you say, more sure now. “Thank you. You’ll all stay on the line with me?” 

“Where else would we be, sweetness?” Sirius teases. “I always love talking to you, you know that.” 

Remus lifts Sirius' hands to his face, kissing them with a smile on his lips. For all the worry thickening the air in the room, the love is thicker.
