oo this is such a good question bc i feel like they've all been tempted to sneak out at least once 👀

- jiwoong: sneaks out to clear his head, go for a walk/run, probably at night. i feel like he's always looking out for the rest of the boys so he's always "on", but when he's by himself he can finally relax a little (not really bc he's still thinking ab them ((and what they might do in his absence lolol)))

- hao: sneaks out bc another member wants to check out something -- a new cafe, a new item, maybe they just want to hangout and explore the city a little -- and it sounds interesting so why not? i don't think he's the type to sneak out by himself but he's definitely thought about escaping from the dorms when he needs his alone time 😭

- hanbin: sneaks out bc he wants to buy something for his members, like bday presents! hanbin doesn't seem like the type to sneak out in general but when he does it's for other people :)) he also definitely feels like he's being mischievous by evading the staff like on the outside he's stoic but on the inside he's probably giggling

- matthew: this guy doesn't sneak out he just walks off 💀 don't get me wrong he doesn't like to make trouble for the staff or for the members but he just wants to check out this cool clothing store he heard about nearby and no one will miss him for a few minutes right? (he's gone much longer than that lmao and probably brings ricky and/or gyuvin with him too ((who also don't see what the big deal is lolol)))

- taerae: honestly taerae's usually too engrossed in his games to want to sneak out, but when he does it's because one of the other members wants to check something out and he's like oh sure i'll tag along (it's the first time he's seen sunlight all day 😭). i feel like taerae would probably sneak out with matthew a few times since he also likes shopping tbh!

- ricky: 9 out of 10 times this guy is sneaking out to get food 😭 like boys planet dorms? mans 10000% snuck out just to eat like he was probably inhaling whole pizzas when staff weren't looking and nothing's changed now that he's in zb1. when they were in japan he prob wanted to sneak off and get a strawberry dessert from one of those fruit parlors tbh! also would probably sneak out with gyuvin to an arcade heheh

- gyuvin: this guy is like a falling bar of soap he just slips out of your fingers every time you try to catch him LOL he's usually just bored esp when other members are busy so he'll try to recruit ppl to sneak out with him to get food or explore, just cute little hangouts where he can have fun hehe (ricky gunwook matthew are usually recruited) hanbin's on high alert constantly 😭

- gunwook: hmm i can't picture gunwook sneaking out but if he does it's because he senses something fun is gonna happen! he's always down to have a good time and he just loves spending time with his members 🥺 if he were to sneak out by himself tho it would probably be to eat at a restaurant or a cafe, actually this guy is a big weeb maybe he would stop by a bookstore and check out the new manhwas in stock too :3

- yujin: yujin doesn't sneak out but when he does he thinks it's so cool and fun like he probably gets so excited asking where they're going 🥺 i feel like he's the type to like shopping for trinkets and useful/cool things tbh so he would loove going shopping for stuff with his members! also probably misses his dog and wants to see him 💔

Ciao Ash I’ve been following your work super closely for a few years and I now feel like I can ask you this, especially since you seem to be so kind with everyone and always explain yourself so well!

I work in illustration and I’ve been drawing for 10 years. For the kind of illustration I do, I rarely have to draw characters. I can draw people, in a very detailed manner too (portraits and studies and such) but when it comes to incorporating characters in my illustration style, I just can’t seem to get it right. Especially with characters who don’t exist so if I want to do fanart, I always have to do it in a way that is not very coherent to my illustration style. Which is unfortunate since I’m in a lot of fandoms and would really like to make fanart I like.

I rely on references a lot, so if I have to draw someone who exists in my style, I struggle and study and put a lot of work and time in but then I’m mostly able to. But characters from fiction? Absolutely not. I especially struggle with consistency: the character always looks different every time I draw them, no matter how many notes on their physiognomy I make…the fact that’s not a real person I can copy the features of on paper really hinders my practice. I also struggle with immediacy and synthesis: since they never look the same I always end up over - characterizing them and that is the opposite of how I illustrate.

How were you able to maintain such a consistent and stable look to these characters? Is there something I don’t know of or that I haven’t been doing and that I should? You really inspire me and I admire your work SO much! It’s remarkable how you built such a recognizable look.

and ok i will try to answer as best as i can bc i’m not a professional in the slightest and also i basically have the diametrically opposite problem as you 😭 90% of my art is blorbo oriented i’m a blorbo artist first human being second. but it’s not like i have the charisma uniqueness nerve and talent to stray much from that.

ANYWAY that being said i’m sorry to give you the Very Hated answer of “u just gotta practice” but i think that’s true! i think drawing characters outside of studies (which are always nice and good etc) might not be something you’re used to, and u just need to stretch your drawing muscles a bit in that direction too!! style and consistency are something that develop organically, so i’m sure that if you keep trying you’ll look at your art one day and be like “oh shit this works!”

Usually when i draw characters i’ve never drawn before i make little studies/portraits to figure out how to draw them (evidence 1/2/3/4) which i think could be a pretty low stake way for you to practice? like maybe you can start off with one referenced portrait and then try to draw the same face from other angles but without looking at that reference and just try to figure out what are the important features that make that face recognizable? Expression sheets are another way u could do this, and then you’d have a nice self made reference board for next time.

or you could start smaller and draw different shapes of eyes/noses/mouths etc to get the hang of it, and once you’re satisfied start building your character with the features you’ve drawn

lastly i cannot stress this enough draw that blorbo NOW!! get fucking obsessed with that freak!!! let them fuel you with the brainrotting blazing passion of 28473 suns and you’ll manage to draw a hundred beautiful faces without even noticing

I loved ur post on Ben x Devi and I agree on this! I don’t think Devi was comfortable with paxton during their relationship and with ben she’s always been herself.

About “to me the last 10 minutes of Season 3 explained the love triangle and what it has meant narratively for Devi this whole time.”

I suppose u meant the scenes between paxton vs ben and the stomach knots commentary? I’m still afraid they’ll go with the “Devi still has feeling for Paxton!!” because it made it seem like she had already move on from her feelings.

I don’t meant those two scenes in particular but they do reinforce the narration by McEnroe paired with the flashbacks at the end of Season 3 that to me describes the love triangle and Devi’s arc up to that point. This is a little long:

That moment on the Season 3 finale after Devi sees Paxton having a moment with his dad and realizes her dad won’t be at her graduation, the narration starts as following: “As Devi walked home, she realized she has spent so much of her young life obsessed with the future. A future where she would finally fit in [flashback to Devi walking into school with her new clothes to impress on 1x01] but if today taught her anything [flashback to Paxton smiling] is that she already fits in [flashback to Devi and Ben finding each other at the school dance on 2x10].” — This sums up what the show has been trying to tell you from the start when it comes to Devi’s arc and the love triangle.

Devi starts off wanting to create a whole dream for herself so she can cope with the grief of losing her father. A fantasy she believes will make her live a “normal life.” And in a way, Paxton was the person that would allow her to success in that dream. The popularity, the hot boyfriend, losing her virginity (to prove Ben and the school wrong) and just for her to seek that external validation. I mean, she said in the first scene of the show: she wants to be popular and be invited to parties, she wants a hot boyfriend from the sports team (and not one from her AP classes which already points to Ben). And it’s not even about Paxton, not truly, because she even says to Dr. Ryan “I just want a boyfriend. I don’t care which one as long as he’ll want to be with me.” Her entire motivation in Season 1 (and Season 2) is becoming “Paxton Hall Yoshida's” girlfriend. And the show has not been subtle on this. She made Paxton her whole world so she won’t have to think about her dad. Devi (and her friends) view him as an ideal, a symbol, so her relationship to Paxton has never been equal. She idealizes everything he does. This is why she found it hard to be herself around him. Once she started dating him, it was still the same superficial fantasies but up to Season 3 you can see she realizes the popularity and the status were not something that just magically fixed her issues or gave her what she needed.

After Paxton broke up with her, we could see her time alone allowed her to contemplate what she wants in a relationship. She was still trying to seek “normalcy” in the ways she thinks can only be archived and I think her crush on Des was about how he represented everything she wanted in both her taste and status but it was necessary for her to date outside of her bubble and Des allowed her that. He was a very bland guy. The debate showed he didn't view Devi as a true adversary. And I don't think he would've been able to handle Devi in her rawest form so that was ending at one point, even without his mom intervention. However, you can still see that she has grown and some of the concepts she had were shut down. One of the reasons she wanted to go to Shrubland was because “everyone is a nerd and she can fit in” since she still thinks she belongs in a box but in Paxton’s speech she realizes: she doesn’t need to be popular and she isn’t a nerd. The “hot pocket” doesn’t even exist. It was just her perception of the school. The UN is not even a thing. Shira shattered that idea ("too fuck*ble nerd"). She has “popular” friends and she can influence people with her intelligence and "nerdiness". We are so much more than those school labels.

We see Devi watching Paxton and his dad and it reminds her life is full of uncertainty. She lost her dad so suddenly and she’s been obsessing over her future and on the image others have on her. She tells Paxton he helped her with the grief of losing her father by being a dream. He thanks her for helping him in his academic journey, for showing him that he can be more than what was expected of him. If this is how their romantic arc ends I think it’s pretty sweet. Devi has moved on from Paxton. At least on Season 3, she let’s go of him in the pedestal. The only way I see an endgame for them is Devi learning who he is as a person, not as an ideal that fulfills her fantasies. But I am still having trouble seeing what he does to help Devi’s self improvement and arc beyond self escapism.

Now, the “she already fit in” part so casually dropping a flashback between Ben and Devi is so fitting because in the finale, Ben delivers the simple yet so effective “I like your personality” line that fits so well with Nalini’s words to Devi an episode prior “you’ll find someone that loves you exactly as you are” because a mayor issue that fuels Devi’s insecurities is her personality. She worries that she’ll be too much for people. She’s been too much for her friends before. Paxton expressed that she is too complicated for him. And a consistent thing about Ben is that he knows her pretty well and is able to hold her accountable. He is been there to see Devi’s worst moments. He knows that she often uses anger as a coping mechanism. One thing we notice quickly is that he is able to rationalize that sometimes her jabs at him aren’t personal. And mostly, Devi can be truly herself with him.

Ever since I watched the show I was surprised about how much familiarity there is between them and the thing about their “rivalry” is that you need to know someone so well to know exactly what insult to deliver. The amount of facts they know about each other randomly is amusing. The show points out one of Ben’s influences on Devi is that his challenging personality helps Devi thrive and be better. She acknowledges she works better around him and he is one of the few people that can estimulate her intellectually. Ben’s failed relationship with Aneesa is there to point out how Ben loves Devi because she shares his drive and ambition. They have the same humor. He sadly tried to emulate that with Aneesa but quickly ended up being a jerk because that’s something he can only do with Devi. So, in theory, Ben is in love with Devi’s biggest insecurity and how fitting.

I just think the fact Ben got Devi on the love compatibility quiz and not Paxton feels like it wants to tell you something narratively wise.

The rest of the voice over goes: “Devi had listened to Dr. Ryan’s advice. She’s been open and even thought she was staying at Sherman Oaks for Senior Year her dreams had evolved, but there was maybe one part of the old dream that still interested her and per Dr. Ryan, she was about to surprise herself.” — and it goes to Devi finding Ben’s free boink voucher on her jacket and making the choice to go see him (as she is). The narrative points out Devi’s dreams had evolved. She not longer seeks popularity or the hot boyfriend. She has decided that she wants to stay with her friends and her family, people that love her and where she already fits in. And while her dream had evolved and not longer involves external validation, there’s some parts of that old dream that she’s interesting in but are now more adaptable to her new dreams.

I don't know what's going to happen on Season 4. The way the story line is going I do see them being the romantic endgame just like I can see that not being the case at all. But narration wise I just think is a very clear indication on what the show has been telling you about Devi so far.

I think it would be interesting if Conrad's season 3 storyline was similar to Paxton's storyline in Never Have I Ever where his storyline is primarily on maturing and he ends up with an older girlfriend but still remains friends with and has sweet moments with Devi. The one in the finale where she tells him he was a good boyfriend but an even better friend is an example of it. They do share one kiss in the final season but there's no cheating and it serves the purpose of closure. I personally preferred Paxton over Ben and had some issues with Ben, but didn't mind Benvi being together at the end as much as Bonrad because they had more in common and more chemistry. In this case it would be more painful for her to end up with Conrad because she chose his brother. Also Paxton's narrator episodes were really interesting, so I hope Conrad's isn't stagnant and boring in season 3.

NO BECAUSE U GET ITTTTTTTT. THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN MEANING TO SAYYYY

I personally dont care anymore if Conrad falls off the face of the earth (🥰) BUT I know that a lot of people genuinely love his character and for that, I am all up for a redemption arc (especially if DONE WELL, it would be a really powerful message of self-love and self-care in young men).

The storyline has to be a Paxton-esque one 😫. Both Paxton and Devi acknowledged how important their relationship was to their growth but knew they weren't right for each other in the end. It doesn't mean that their time together was a waste of time, quite the opposite actually and for that to have been acknowledged was a really great thing to witness for me personally.

ok this is gonna kinda jump around a bit bc thats how my thoughts are rn :3 i love this ask though thank u for letting me talk about my special guy

so after Jane's death, he did try his best to hang onto the friend group for a while (especially Noah) but due to not having a very good therapist, his kid logic made him think "thinking about Jane makes me sad, and not thinking about her i can be happy, but i'd rather think about her and be sad forever than evetually move on and forget" so he kinda shut himself off from everyone so he could hold his memory of her forever

his parents tried their best to help him but the therapists they took him too didnt believe him when he told them about Mr Red (or when they did believe him, they only believed him if they were reading lines that weren't there and assuming that Mr Red was a real living guy in the woods and jumping to conclusions about it) so maybe like a month or two after Jane died he just... stopped talking, bc what was the point of speaking if no one was going to listen? and then he stopped talking to anyone ever until half way through his freshman year of highschool when he told Cody to "gargle my cock and balls"

because of Devi being mute for all that time, he didn't really have any friends (which he was fine with for reasons stated earlier) & a lot of people found him kinda weird and offputting for the most part, especially when he got really into expressing himself through art, specifically photography. a lot of "ew that weird quiet kid is taking pictures of things again what a creep" but for the most part he just shrugged it off

Cody used to think he was kinda cool bc he was quiet and goth and in 6th grade asked him to the fall formal but Devi turned him down and that's when he started bullying him. he tried to turn it into a "HAH WELL OBVIOUSLY NO ONE WOULD WANT TO GO OUT WITH YOU YOU CREEP WEIRDO YOURE STUPID TO THINKING I WANTED TO GO WITH YOU" which somehow worked on everyone around them despite the fact Devi turned him down

after he started talking again, he joined the yearbook club & got really good at the composition of pictures of people & formatting them on the pages, but bc he was still a bit of a loner at this point no one else in the club realized just how much he did? especially after the older kids in the club graduated, bc they were the ones encouraging him and teaching him how to do the formatting and stuff. ive actually been rotating a fic in my head where post ilitw Lucas goes to the yearbook club to see how theyre doing bc its almost time to get em printed and its like. not even half done and also theres a memorial page for Cody but not for Devi????

in Sophmore year he took a Japanese class for an easy foreign language credit, which Tom was also in for the same reasons and they became friends :3 not as close as Tom and Andy at this point, but they'd hang out at lunch when Andy was busy and sometimes go to eachother's houses after school. but after that year the teacher for the class made sure to put them in different periods bc they would kinda. make fun of him a little bit in japanese bc he was a white guy who thought he was way better at the language than he actually was and that made him big mad

of the original group, he was probably closest with Lily when he started talking again. and then not as close w Ava and Andy but he talked w them fairly often. Lucas, Stacy, and Dan he really only saw when he was doing yearbook stuff, w that conversation he had w Dan junior year being the longest conversation he'd had w any of those three in a while (all three 100% knew he was the backbone of yearbook btw. & when people were being like "ew that weirdo goth kid w the camera is here again" they were the ones to be like "ITS FOR YEARBOOK, ASSHOLES.")

he and Noah avoided each other as much as possible. sitting next to Noah during that assembly the first day of senior year was the first time in years that one of them didn't immedeatly turn around and walk out of the room upon seeing the other in it (they lowkey had each other's scheduals memorized to better avoid each other) (for the most part Any picture of Noah that might show up in the yearbooks were not taken by Devi) (although. ngl. Devi did take a few candid photos of Noah occasionally. which he promptly would delete bc he felt bad about it. a little bc he and Noah hadnt talked in forever but mostly bc he felt like "creep weirdo with a camera" was an accurate description of him when he did that)

ooooh okay so.....not all of these predictions are actually serious some of them i just think would be FUN but i dont think they'll actually implement lmao. also....as usual i dont know when to shut the fuck up and stop typing SO. predictions under the cut!!

my prediction for benvi is: devi ghosts ben post-boinkening (basically confirmed; the trailer insinuates that they havent spoken since); ben goes after margot because she likes him (and we all saw how well it went the last time ben started dating someone else bc devi wasn't an option), it implodes, devi retaliates by dating ethan because he's hot or whatever the fuck (and honestly good for her im sure he's a tool but like.....rebound arm candy isnt necessarily a bad thing.....except in this case it is bc that is Also going to implode.) i think it would be HILARIOUS if margot and ethan ended up going out lmfao but. i doubt it. after both their rebounds fail (ben's i want to say around episode 2 bc i dont think they'll drag it out super long, and devi's probably episode 5?) they're still.....skirting around each other, in a will they/won't they kind of situation. i can see fab & eleanor trying to talk some sense into devi but devi just not listening bc she's stubborn as hell and of course she knows there's something there with ben but they've done this back-and-forth dance for so long that she's still nervous about taking that full leap.

and well. then she ends up getting like...accosted in new york (which im guessing the trailer may have been a bit misleading about that exact scenario because, ya know, it's a trailer) and ben tries to play knight in shining armor and well. we all saw what happened lmfao. cue devi icing ben's face n devi being like "why did you do that?" and ben just says "for you" or smthn cheesy as hell. this is probs around like? episode 7 i'd like to think? and they probably at least partially get their shit together but like. lbr it's ben and devi. so it can't be 100% smooth sailing. like you said im excpecing a tatbilb sort of thing - they agree to date & then break up before going to college. (we all know devi gets denied for early decision from princeton - this could play into her actually going to a school in new york - something prestigious, ofc, she graduates as valedictorian).

based on the trailer....im honestly torn on whether ben goes to prom or not! i know you said smthn about him perhaps going home and changing, but part of me also thinks - what if he didnt go at all? what if he stays home, because he knows this is gonna be one of his last good memories with devi and he just cant do it? i know we havent seen a lot of bts for season 4, but we have seen bts of maitreyi + lee + ramona in their prom dresses, and i dont recall jaren being there at all or wearing a suit (the only suit bts ive seen is of him in 2x10). so......maybe he doesnt go, but he comes to her after. idk exactly how that will play out but thats what im hoping for!!!

and of course, they end up going to the same school - thats been something ive been sure of since, well, forever lmao. i'm 100000% convinced that the last shot of the show is going to be devi coming up to ben in the library of their college or vice versa and if im wrong i will eat my mf words

as for other predictions....

i'm with you on thinking it might not be kamala's wedding anymore, but i'm still not sure who's wedding it would be - perhaps another family member? a family friend? who knows.

i think treleanor is going to break up, which is TRAGIC because they r everything to me <3 but i feel like they're the kind of couple to come back to each other after years apart so im holding out hope for them 🤞 in treleanor we trust u know !!!!

Unpopular opinions on AKs specifically, alright (probably not too many of these I don’t feel super strongly about the AKs either way 😅 lol. Ben is my fav but other than that 🤷)

1) Again, I’m not convinced Audrey and Ben were ever in love with each other

2) I don’t hate Doug; he shouldn’t have low-key stalked Evie in D1 but overall he seems to be a supportive bf to her. MCs in children’s media follow people around during/after school all the time to move the plot forward & fans don’t usually give them any crap for it, much less the amount I’ve seen for Doug. I’m not a passionate devie shipper but I’m not opposed to the ship either. I think for the most part Doug seems sweet, and the actor definitely isn’t ugly idk why people say that. He looks exactly like the dudes musical theatre fans lose their minds over but u put him in bowties & glasses & suddenly people have a problem

3) idk if this counts but that part in D3 where Jane is in the enchanted lake ✨wow✨ she looks like a mermaid, she’s so pretty. I’ve just never seen anyone talk about it so I thought I’d do it here lol

Okay, basically, I think the season wrapped up really well. It was satisfying. It was neat. I liked it a lot. I cried (mostly because of like Devi and her mom, or like the feeling of moving on from high school, everything just hit a little close to home) so that’s good.

The relationship bit is a little more complicated to me I think because I love Paxton, but Ben is kind of annoying me (not because of his pretentiousness, I know that’s very much an intended character trait. More because he is stupid. And him and Devi are just messy). Like okay: Paxton is my boy, he’s a baby, someone needs to hug him, I will if no one else volunteers. He has come a long way. Ben…I kinda wanna bitch slap. I feel like he deserves it. Only once and I would even apologize after, but you know. I feel like people let so much slide when it comes to him. Especially Devi?!

Now in relation to Devi it’s different…like I fucking hated Paxton and Devi together. It just- no. I think this also might have to do with Paxtons actor (cause he looks so much older to me like what). And also they’re just better of as friends. I loved how they turned out actually in the end. Scrumptious. I don’t doubt that they did like each other at some point but I think they were hung up on one another for a long time. Especially Devi with her freshman dream of fucking him and everything. And as she grew from that she also grew away from the need to be with him idk how else to say this.

Ben and Devi are serving seriously. Academic rivals. Nemesis to lovers. Chefs kiss. I love me some of this. They are also a mess. Like holy shit. I don’t know how often these two broke up and got back together and wrecked all their other relationships on the way. In the end I think they work out and fit well together, only because they have the right mental state by then idk. In high school they definitely weren’t.

I won’t forgive the Uber thing Ben (also everything else, but I have shit memory sorry)! What the hell? He always does these things?!😭 Like Bro, im rooting for u, but you’re making it hard?!

Final Awakening: All or Nothing Part 3

           “…ke u…”

           “…ake up…

           “WAKE UP!”

           Zim shoots awake as Gaz smacks him across the face. He looks up at her and Pepito glaring at him disapprovingly.

           “It’s about time,” Pepito tuts, “you know, we could’ve died like five minutes ago and you would’ve had no idea.”

           Zim looks around. The three of them are in a small stone room with an open barred door.

           “Where’s everyone else?” Zim asks, rubbing his face.

           “Just outside,” Pepito replies, “come on, get up.”

           He helps Zim to his feet and they exit the cell into a hall of similar doors. All of the other Battalion members and the Night Terrors are hanging around, except Squee and Johnny.

           “You alright?” Dib asks.

           “Yeah,” Zim replies, “where’s Squee?”

           “He’s not here,” Shmee replies and looks ahead of himself. “Right?”            Zim pushes his way to head of the group to find Jimmy, Krik, Dillon, Tess, and Edgar. He immediately scowls and draws his laser guns from his PAK.

           “Take it easy, shorty,” Dillon says.

           “If we were going to kill you, we would’ve when you were all passed out,” Krik adds.

           “So why didn’t you?” D-boy asks.

           The zombies all look at Tess accusingly. She glares back at them.          

           “She thinks you can help us,” Jimmy scoffs.

           “They can,” she insists.

           “They better,” Edgar says, “cause we just disobeyed a direct order from Zoli. When she finds out…”            They all shudder.

           “We can,” Reverend Meat declares, “and we will.”

           “But first,” Shmee says, “where’s Squee and Johnny?”

           “They’ll be kept in deeper rooms,” Tess replies, “Squee is gonna become the Nightmare’s next meal. Johnny is a back-up.”

           “How long do we have?”

           “No idea.”

           Shmee spits in frustration. “Do you know your way around this place?”

           “Pretty much,” Jimmy nods.

           “Good.” He looks back at the Battalion. “You guys find a way out. We’ll go get Squee and Johnny.”

           “What? We can’t just leave,” Zim argues.

           “You have to. It’s too dangerous.”

           “We’re not afraid of danger,” Tak retorts.

           “Yeah, and we haven’t even seen the Nightmare,” Dib retorts, “isn’t that why we came here?”

           “You’ve done your part. The rest is up to us,” Nailbunny insists.

           “Rest of what?” Devi asks.

           The Night Terrors share a hesitant look.

           “What are you guys up to?”

           Reverend Meat sighs, “we might as well tell them.”

           Shmee nods. “We’re…going to destroy the Nightmare.”

           “What?” the Battalion gasp.

           “What?” the zombies gasp.

           “Is that possible?” Pepito asks.

           “Theoretically,” Shmee replies, “however, if and when we succeed, the universe will reset, like we said before. That will cause this whole place to collapse. If you die during the reset, you will not come back. That’s why you must escape before it happens.”

           “But if you’re down here, you won’t be able to escape in time either,” Dib points out.

           “Yes. But escape was never part of our plan.”

           “Why? What are you saying?” Devi demands.

           Shmee hesitates to go any further so Reverend Meat takes over.

           “The only way we can destroy the Nightmare is by expelling all of our power from within it, collapsing it from the inside out,” he explains, “that’s why we won’t have a chance to escape. Because we’ll already be dead.”

           “What!” the Battalion exclaim.

           “You can’t!” Dib argues.

           “There’s gotta be another way!” Pepito adds.

           “What about Squee?” Tenna asks.

           “Why didn’t you tell us any of this?” Devi demands.

           “Because we knew you would react exactly like this,” Shmee replies, “we’ve been planning this for months; we’ve just been waiting for the Nightmare to show itself again. We thought it would come for Squee again and then we would hunt it privately, but when this chance came, we couldn’t pass it up.”            The Battalion stammer querulously, trying to come up with a sustainable argument.

           “It’s okay,” Nailbunny says gently, interrupting them. “We all decided this together, despite the risks. If it works, it won’t be permanent but it will severely weaken the Nightmare, freeing all of you.” He glances back at the zombies. “Giving you and Squee and Johnny a chance at a peaceful life, finally. And that’s enough for us.”

           The Battalion go solemnly silent.

           “Get to the surface,” Shmee orders, “we will find Johnny and Squee and send them to you. Then we will destroy the Nightmare.”

           The Battalion hesitates but Devi nods. She turns and ushers the others to the stairwell at the end of the hall. “Come on, guys.”            The Night Terrors watch them until they all disappear up the stairs then turn to the zombies.

           “Now you lead us to the Nightmare,” Shmee orders, “if Squee and Johnny are meant to be its food, they must be near it.”

           Jimmy sniffs and shrugs. “Fine, let’s go.”

           The zombies lead them to the same stairwell and descend.

           The group walks quietly, tensely, awkwardly. They exit out of the stairwell into another corridor lined with empty rooms. Some are stained with old blood.

           They cross the hall to another stairwell and go deeper down.

           “This isn’t that different from the underground rooms in Nny’s house,” Eff comments.

           “This is the Nightmare’s nest,” Reverend Meat explains, “it creates rooms for its slaves to keep victims as future meals. Nny’s basement, though, has always been like that. The Nightmare just got lucky picking him.”

           “His house is weird,” Sickness comments.

           “So who’s the Nightmare’s newest slave?” Shmee asks.

           “Han Ki-Joo,” Tess replies, “she’s a nice girl, she just…lost her way.”

           “Does she have imagination powers?” Nailbunny asks, “like Squee or Johnny?”

           “Nah,” Jimmy scoffs, “she’s weak. The Nightmare will use her up soon.”

           “Maybe we can save her too before that happens,” Shmee says.

           They continue through another empty hall and head down another stairwell.

           “We’re almost there,” Edgar says, “just a few more floors.”            “Good. I’m sick of stairs,” D-boy grunts.

           They exit onto another floor and the zombies suddenly stop.

           “Uh oh,” Dillon croaks.

           “What?” the Night Terrors question, looking around them, and they stop too.

           “We uh…forgot to warn you guys about something,” Krik replies.

           Everyone stares ahead with surprise at the two figures ahead of them. One has deathly pale skin and is wearing a black suit beneath leather straps. His eyes are white orbs with a single horizontal line. The other has skin blacker than night and is wearing a white suit with torn sleeves. His eyes have black crosses. Both are wearing similar chef’s hats.

           “They seem familiar…” D-boy remarks.

           “They look like you,” Sickness comments, glancing at the Doughboys.

           “Very astute,” the black-suited one replies in a monotone voice.

           “You could call us the first borns,” the white-suited one says cheerily, “nice to see you again, little brothers.”

           “You two,” Eff breathes.

           “Señor Bondage and Nil,” Reverend Meat growls.

           “You remember us,” Nil smiles, “I’m touched.”

           “How are you here?” Shmee asks, “and how do you have those bodies?”

           “Do you like them?” Señor Bondage asks, “they were a gift from our master.”

           “It took pity on us,” Nil continues, “and gave us these bodies so that we could live like you.”

           “Copycats,” D-boy scoffs.

           “Well, you got your bodies,” Eff grunts, “now get out of our way, we got shit to do.”            “Yeah, right,” Nil scoffs, “you think we’re just gonna let you traitors traipse through our master’s domain?”

          “You realize that when the Nightmare leaves its nest, you two will just be sucked back into it, right?” Sickness scoffs.

           “Why would it leave, when it’s got its endless meal right here,” Señor Bondage questions.

           “You mean Squee,” Shmee growls.

           Señor Bondage nods and Nil grins.

           “We don’t have time for this,” he snarls.

           “We’re warning you, move now,” Reverend Meat demands, “you don’t stand a chance against all of us.”

           “If all we do is slow you down, then I say we’ve done a good job,” Nil retorts.

           “Fine,” Sickness spits, “let’s make this quick.”

           “Wait,” Eff argues as he and D-boy steps forward. “Like the bear said, we don’t have time.”

           “So you guys go on ahead,” D-boy adds, “we’ll handle these two.”

           “What? But-,” Reverend Meat tries to argue.

           “Don’t argue. Find Squee and Nny, make sure they’re safe,” Eff orders.

           “We’ll catch up in time to destroy the Nightmare,” D-boy declares.

           “You better,” Shmee demands, “we need all of us to do it.”

           “Yeah, yeah,” Eff grunts.

           “None of you are going anywhere,” Señor Bondage growls darkly and loosens a couple of straps from his body.        

           “There’s another hall beneath us, right?” D-boy asks.

           “Yes,” Jimmy nods.

           “Meat, can you make your own entrance?”

           “No problem,” Reverend Meat nods.

           Señor Bondage whips the straps at the Night Terrors. Eff and D-boy catch them around their arms.

           “Then go!” Eff barks.

           “No one’s going anywhere!” Nil snaps. He waves his hands forward and a blast of black energy erupts from him.

           Reverend Meat punches a hole through the floor and everyone falls through as the blast hits the Doughboys head-on.

           “Nice try, fakers,” Nil grins, “but my void blast destroys all living things caught in it.”

           “Oh, yeah?” Eff’s voice calls out as the blast disperse. Both of the Doughboys are doubled over, covering their faces. Then they look up, smirking, their Nightmare faces revealed. “Good thing we have a couple decoys.”

can u please elaborate on how devi lacked a lot of agency on season 2 compare to season 1 and season 3? i see a lot of ppl say this is the least favorite season but I’m still unsure as to why

For me, everything that went wrong with Devi on Season 1 was her own fault. She made those choices. She knew what leaving her friends for Paxton would do to their friendship. She still did it. She knew lying about sleeping with Paxton was a bad idea but she still did it. Devi made some bad choices but I understood why and could sympathize with her with those choices.

For Season 2, she got peer pressured into not choosing Ben when she wanted to. And then, I knew Devi was bound to cheat on either Ben or Paxton but the way the double timing situation was framed lacked a lot of character. I think it would’ve been better it is was framed as Devi’s selfish choice for better or for worst but the characterization was kinda off and unappealing.

The situation with Aneesa at the relay wasn’t Devi’s fault entirely. She was jealous and angry and said something off unintentionally but not even about Aneesa, so what are the odds that people would confuse her with her and start a rumor that just happened to be true. It was not something she did intentionally and the show spends 2 whole episodes with that alone. Yes, Devi is selfish sometimes but that particular situation was not initiated by her. I would’ve liked it better if she tried to sabotage Aneesa intentionally because of her jealousy towards her. I would’ve appreciated the consequences Devi faces later on if it was actually deserved.

It was the same early in the season with Paxton. She was treated as if it’s her fault he lost his scholarship to Stanford but it is not. She was not expecting him to get run over by a car. Devi didn’t owe him anything because it was not her fault he stopped in the middle of the road.

A lot of the things that went wrong with Devi on Season 2 were not her own messy choices but born out of circumstances she couldn’t control. Also it relied too much on the love triangle for drama in her sessions with Dr. Ryan instead of her dad’s voice mail to stop her panic attacks.

I appreciate that Season 3 went back to Devi having more agency over the outcome of her life by her choices instead of a external factor. And we went back to Devi’s life struggles being the focus during her therapy sessions instated of just the love triangle and the boy drama.

You had only ever seen two athletes present during rehearsals. Once when Madeline (who at the time was playing Penny in your production of Hairspray) was dating a guy from the soccer team. The other was when the star of the basketball team had come in to give your choreographer pointers for the basketball scenes during High School Musical. 

Until now.

You had run onstage part of the way through “Live Like This”, which wasn’t out of the ordinary since so much progress had been made on the costumes. You were still tying the ribbon on your pinafore as you jumped into the song, but when your eyes met a face in the usually empty auditorium, you faltered. You almost sang the wrong verse, but recovered quickly, continuing with the blocking. What felt like a moment later, the number was almost done and you were nearing the end of your counterpoint with Mae Tuck - played by Eleanor, of course. Who could be better for the part? You held out the last note, trying to stay in character despite all the distractions in the back of your mind. You had to talk to Eleanor when the director called for 10; she’d started telling you how Devi was being weird recently. Also, what the Hadestown was Paxton Hall-Yoshida doing chilling in the auditorium? You shoved all that away, focusing on staying in character until the director called for a break. 

‘I want to go to the fair. I want to go so badly! I just need a change, need to get out of this house for a little while. I never do anything, so this can’t be asking for too much, right?’ 

You projected all that into your everything - face, voice, mannerisms, energy.

“Hold!” 

Everyone froze.

The director wrote a few things on his paper, sighed, and underlined something several times. 

“Okay, good job! I need to revise some of the blocking, then we’ll do notes, so take ten.” Your sudden nerves had definitely made you pitchy, you knew that would be one of your notes for sure. 

A chorus of “Thank you ten”s erupted, and you immediately ran to Eleanor, telling the others good job as you passed. 

You leaned in and started speaking to her, quietly.

“Okay you need to finish telling me about Devi, and that other news you’re being so cryptic about! Also, what’s up with Fierro over there?” you nodded towards Paxton hoping he wouldn’t see, and you noticed Fab is sitting near him. You realized they’re probably waiting for Eleanor and/or Devi. That must be it, he’s been hanging out with them lately, right? Eleanor gasped.

“You’re right! Paxton is such a Fierro!”

You cringed inwardly a little bit as her voice carried through the auditorium, mixing with the others. Your eyes darted over to him for a fraction of a second. Oh god. He was looking at you. Or in your general direction at least. Lena, the costumer, walked around the set gingerly, following you around and getting you out of your dress incredibly carefully as you and Eleanor walked off stage. 

“No! Well, yes- but no. What’s he doing here? Jocks never come here during rehearsals. I saw Fab too, are you guys and Devi getting dinner or something?” You said, entering the auditorium, and stepping out of the dress. You grabbed sweatpants and a silky, floral kimono jacket from your bag to throw over your leotard and tights. She waved back at Fab before sitting down in the front. You both grabbed your fans and dramatically flicked them open in sync. Your wrists fluttered, cooling both of you off.  A knowing, and slightly mischievous, look came on her face. 

“Devi and Fab and I are. Paxton must be here for something… else.” she shrugged, nodding towards Paxton. You looked over again. He was staring at you. You did a double take and tried to hold back your smile. 

“Wh- I do not know to what you are referring.” 

“To what I am referring is the blush on his cheeks.”

You barely held back a nervous, bubbling laugh.

“He is not blushing! Why would he be blushing!”

“I don’t know,” She shrugged, “Just like how I don’t know that he’s been loitering in the halls outside the music room during your last three solo music rehearsals.”

You struggled for an answer. Before you could form one, you were interrupted.

“Okay, okay what is the best Lin Manuel Miranda musical? Because Kathryn thinks it’s Hamilton-” 

“Duh!”

“-But I think it’s In the Heights! It’s an underrated jewel!” Jonah interjected, still wearing his Jesse Tuck hat. 

You considered for a moment.

“I mean, they’re too different to compare. In the Heights has the same energy as Rent - showcasing what goes on in ordinary people’s lives, and how love ties us all together,” he nodded in agreement, “But Hamilton is on a way larger scale, almost Les Mis meets Fun Home vibes. But in terms of personal preference…” Eleanor scoffed at your answer, and Jonah went back to debate further with Kathryn.

“Anyway,” you turned back to Eleanor to ask her what the hell she meant by Paxton Hall-Yoshida was blushing. But before you could-

“Eleanor, we need you to try on your blue dress again,” Lena was already pulling her away, “I had the empire waist in the right place but half the pins fell out, and it’s just...” And she was whisked away before you could finish the thought. You just had time to help Holly get out her wig pins and drink some lemon water before notes. Eleanor still wasn’t back, so you made sure to write down hers for her. It was pretty standard; be quiet backstage, go over your lines, don’t touch props that aren’t yours, don’t eat in costume, and a couple blocking changes you made note of. After your end of rehearsal warm downs and huddle, everyone left relatively quickly. You ducked into the bathroom to freshen up a little. Sometimes it was hard coming down from such intense energy after rehearsal. You mentally ran through your to do list. You needed to get some more tea, write that essay when you got home, go over your notes- You gasped, cutting off your own train of thought. You ran out of the bathroom to look for Eleanor, still clutching her notes in hand.

Your voice still echoed in Paxton’s ears. He wished he had a whole album of you singing. Your voice made him want to ruin his spotify algorithm by listening to nothing else. You had looked at him a couple times, and his heart had almost stopped. He didn’t know eye contact could be so intense. It’s probably just cause you’re like, the only person in the audience. Where else is she supposed to look? He deflated a little. He heard his name and looked over to you and Eleanor talking together. Hopefully it was about him. Hopefully it was good. He checked his phone, trying to look busy. When he glanced up to see if you were looking, you were gone. He started to look around for you when he saw Eleanor waving at Fab, and sure enough, you were next to her. What he didn’t expect was you dropping your dress to the ground. Time slowed down (and his heart sped up) as you stretched a little, and pulled out sweatpants from your bag.

Wow.

 You had on what looked like a bathing suit on underneath, and a few other people had done the same, but he knew that image would be in his memory, probably forever. His heart was beating in his ears and he knew he must be blushing.

“You okay, Paxton?” Fab asked, a seat or two away. Oh god, he didn’t want people asking why he blushed every time he looked at you! He muttered something about needing to make a call and headed for the doors. Don’t look back at her, don’t look back at her… His eyes involuntarily darted in your direction right before he left. You had on a flowy translucent jacket, your hair thrown back supermodel style as you fanned yourself to cool down. He needed to cool down too. Maybe a cold shower, a really cold shower.

You managed to find Eleanor just before she left. Two girls were with her, you had seen Fab once, and you’d heard a lot about Devi, but had never been introduced. 

You gave Eleanor her notes, and she hugged you.

“You’re a lifesaver!” 

“Of course, I-”

“Uh, who’s this?” you looked over, and the shorter girl - Devi, based on what you’d heard about her -  was giving you a weird look. You introduced yourself. 

“Nice to meet you. How do you know Eleanor?” said the taller girl - definitely Fab.

“Oh,” you smiled, “she’s my almost mother in law. And my arch rival,” you counted on your fingers, “my sister, my niece, my lover, my husband, and…” you trailed off, trying to think of the other dynamics your characters had had in past shows.

“Your co-conspirator.” 

“Right,” you laughed. Devi and Fab looked at you two.

“We’re in the musical together.” you clarified. You were about to part ways when you called to Eleanor, “Hey, we’re still on for running lines tomorrow night?” 

“Uh… Sounds good!” she walked away quickly, speaking to Devi and Fab in hushed tones. Something was definitely up. That was typical Eleanor Scheming behavior.

That night, you almost couldn’t sleep. This wasn’t the normal post rehearsal can’t sleep. In fact, Tuck Everlasting was the last thing on your mind as you readjusted your pillows and snuggled into your duvet. You stared at the neon blue stars projected and swirling on your ceiling. You sighed. Again. Your brain was a 24/7 livestream of Paxton Hall-Yoshida to relax/study to. You saw him again, his face in the dimly lit auditorium, Adonis in a sea of faded seats. If you hadn’t been sure before, you knew now that red was definitely his color. You rolled onto your side. Your heart picked up speed as a thought crossed your mind. You could almost see Paxton now, kneeling next to you, his fingertips brushing your cheek. The piano underscore to “Seventeen” ran through your mind. You let out a loud sigh and rolled over again. Your heart was fully saturated. That’s more than enough pining for tonight.

He was a little surprised when Eleanor just walked up to him at lunch the next day. Most people were too intimidated to approach him out of the blue. 

“I have a plan.”

“Uh, I don’t know what you-”

“Cut the crap, I know you like her.” 

His face blanched. Well, yeah of course he did. Who wouldn’t? He was going to ask Eleanor if there was something he could do to win you over, just not here, not now. Not where everyone could watch and jeer and rib him for it. Just like they were doing now. 

“Woah, dude, who is it?” Trent asked. He fumbled for words. He couldn’t believe this was happening. He hadn’t kept his crush a secret because he was embarrased of you, he’d kept it a secret because his dumbass friends wouldn’t get you. Hell, he barely got you. You were so deep, and emotive, and artistic... 

“Bro, if you like her as much as it seems like you do,” Trent continued, “you gotta win her over.” He was a little shocked at the agreement murmuring through his group of friends. He didn’t know how to respond. Trent turned to Eleanor.

“What’s the plan, drama mama?”

“First of all,” she said, an almost humorously dangerous look on her face, “never call me that again. Second,” she shoved some papers into Paxton’s hands, “meet me in the music room immediately after school.” She started back for her table. Trent looked back over to Paxton. 

“You gotta do it, dude. We’ll cover for you at swim.” 

The rest of his friends agreed. He was pleasantly surprised at how supportive they were being. 

“Yeah, I guess... we’ve got a plan.”

The next day went by pretty smoothly. No rehearsal was scheduled since they were finishing construction for some of the sets, but everyone was instructed to do a couple read throughs of the script, focusing on scenes they’re still forgetting, to make sure everyone’s off book. You stopped by 7 Eleven to get a blue slurpee (for homework) and a couple coconut waters (for run throughs). You texted Eleanor on your way to the slurpee machine.

...Okay? That was definitely weird. You shook it off and headed for the counter to pay. You stopped half way there, and turned back to swap the mango for passionfruit. 

Not long after you had finished your homework and tidied up your room a little, the doorbell rang. You exited the kitchen, drinks in hand, and opened the door. Your heart caught in your throat. Paxton Hall-Yoshida was standing outside. And you were pretty sure he looked nervous. You both just stood there for a second. No one breathed, no one spoke. 

“Uh, hi, do you want to…” you backed up, motioning for him to come inside. 

“Yeah, thanks,” he said, entering the doorway. Paxton motherfucking Hall-Yoshida was in your living room. You held out a hand to him.

“Coconut water?” he took the box, looked at the label, and smiled. 

“Yeah, thanks,” he said again, this time a faint, yet unmistakable note of joy in his voice. He took a sip. He smiled.

“Passionfruit’s my favorite.” You silently thanked Eleanor, who you knew must have planned all this. Most of the evening was a blur, and you thanked god your family wasn’t home right now. You went upstairs, texted Eleanor asking what the actual fuck, made some surprisingly comfortable small talk, then filled him in on how to run lines. 

“Do you think playing the soundtrack would help you… get into character?” he asked. 

“I would probably just end up singing the whole thing,” You laughed and tried to ignore the butterflies in your chest. The main scene you struggled with was before “Seventeen”. It was harder to get into Winnie’s head because you had no romantic feelings for Jonah, and you always just made each other laugh. You had started with a few easier scenes of Winnie and Jesse, like the fair, and the dialogue before “Top of the World”. 

“That was really good,” he said, and you felt the sincerity of his words. 

“Thanks…” you smiled and took a sip of coconut water, hoping you weren’t blushing too hard. 

“So what next?” he asked. 

“Probably the scene before ‘Seventeen’,” you said, giving him the page and scene number, “it’s one of the hardest ones for me. I guess I just can’t connect to Jonah the way Winnie does.” 

“Huh,” he said, skimming the page. When you looked up at him, he had something between a smile and a smirk playing at his lips. You made yourself look away before you got too distracted. You refused to think about the fact that you were sitting across from Paxton Hall-Yoshida on your bed, in your room, like you were… close with each other. His eyes skimmed the script, finding the dialogue. He glanced up at you and nodded, indicating he found his place. You began.

“I was so afraid you wouldn’t get away,” you said, jumping into character.

“I may be 102, but I can still outrun anyone,” a smile played at his lips. You smiled, then let your face fall.

“I’m so sorry, I-I tried to warn you-”

“No, no,” he interjected almost seamlessly, “It’s okay, it’s… refreshing having someone look after me who isn’t my mom.” His eyes flickered between your face and the page. You smiled with him for a second, then let distress cloud your face.

“Jesse… that man came by my house today. He heard the music box, he knows about you-”

“I know he knows…” 

You continued on with the scene and he trailed off when he came to the sheet music for the song Seventeen. You took in a breath to start the dialogue in the middle of the song, but before you could…

“Six years from now you will turn seventeen,

Turn seventeen,

The same age as me,

Six years from now,

Go to the spring,

Go to the spring and drink…”

He was singing to you. He was looking at you and singing to you. His eyes only flickered down to the page to confirm the lyrics. He was nervous, you could tell. But through his hesitance, the emotion in his voice was sincere. Your heart was beating faster. You didn’t even notice your pulse was ringing in your ears, you were too focused on Paxton. 

“I'll wait for you till you turn seventeen,

Turn seventeen,

The same age as me,

Six years from now,

Go to the spring,

Go to the spring and drink…” Your hand rose to cover your mouth. He hesitated, and you remembered your dialogue.

“Uh, wh-what if I… forget where the spring is?” He reached out and took your free hand in his. Your pulse was off the charts. “I’ll go get you some water. Just… remember to keep it somewhere safe. Somewhere no one will find it.” You got the feeling he wasn’t just talking about the water. You knew he had never really been in a serious relationship before, and it clicked suddenly - if he learned an entire song to duet with you, just how much he must like you. You exhaled a breathy laugh, unsure how to process the sudden euphoria you felt. 

“You make the world sound so… exciting. I just want to drink the water right now!”

“Uh, no. You have to wait.” you both smiled, anticipating the upcoming joke.

“Why?” you ask, “What’s the difference?” You held your breath as he tried not to laugh through the delivery of the punchline. 

“Believe me,” he rubbed his thumb over your hand, “there’s a difference.” You both chuckled, and he continued singing. You were so focused on him, so… touched that he would do all this for you. 

“Winnie, wait with me,

And we could be married,

Winnie, wait with me,

And we'll share the world,

Winnie, you can stop time,

And live like this,

Forever…”

“I could live like this forever,” you echoed.

“Live like this...” you sang in tandem.

“What do you say, Winnie? Do you want to…” he broke character suddenly, and asked, his eyes boring into yours, “Do you want to go out some time?” 

He could see the adorable smile blooming on your face, even from behind your hand. You nodded.

“Yes, I-I would love that,” and you began to sing the last line in the song, “Forever-” 

But before you finished holding out the note, his lips were on yours. His mouth moved slowly, intentionally, against yours. You followed his lead, flustered. He leaned further forward, his palm caressing your cheek. It was everything you imagined it would be, and you had quite the imagination. Your head was angled up and your hands rested themselves on his back, one tracing little shapes. Your shoulders were pressed against each other and neither of you could think. He was so warm. He tasted like coconut and passion fruit, and a distant part of your mind silently thanked Eleanor again. 

You really could live like this forever.

Gaarmageddon Red Dia from Love Devi !! a card theme was present in an outfit i would die if i didnt draw it. no original masc version cuz it's literally a card wonderland theme so say hi to pathetic pushed over vermilion mayoi. also at this point i was admittedly getting quite pooped from all the drawing so unless i really wanted to see something i just didnt do it lol

She seems to be too oblivious in pushing Khushi to Arnav a lot, like sending her to get soil, or asking her to go and call him or asking her to hold his hand. TIA for your time. TL; DR: No she did not know about Arnav’s attraction for Khushi. No one could.

Now, to the lengthier explanation: 

1) I don’t think anyone ‘could see’ the attraction/pull Arnav Khushi felt for the other because in my hypothesis a Rabba Ve is a one second moment that everyone else will miss in a blink of an eye EXCEPT the audience because we are living in Arnav and Khushi’s minds so we see that one second as an extended two-three minute segment so we see what Arnav’s looking at, how Khushi’s intimately drawn to him and so on. 

@phati-sari once came with this that it’s a funny thing in IPK that ArShi are the alpha couple while PayAsh are the beta when to the people living in IPK PayAsh are the alpha couple and ArShi are the beta!

2) If Arnav/Khushi’s real life interactions lasted for more than a minute which could make anyone observing them get suspicious about their chemistry, you’ll notice all that happened privately. Diwali, bandage engagement, poolside Rabba Ve’s, Arnav’s farak padta hai - all happens privately. The first time anyone sees Arnav-Khushi being close with each other is literally during Teri Meri (although Anjali is aware at that point of Arnav’s infatuation to some degree). 

3) Therefore, it’s impossible Lavanya knew how attracted Arnav and Khushi are to each other when they themselves have been incredibly private and unaware of it (we as audience are nearly having the omniscience of Devi Maiyya cause we see things they themselves don't understand). 

- Lavanya knew Arnav was annoyed at Khushi. She knew they would have a lot of tiffs but she also knew Khushi didn’t care pleasing Arnav and could always knock him down a peg or two - something she admired about Khushi. I don’t think Lavanya pushed Khushi towards Arnav, she was genuinely busy so she sent Khushi to get something or hold Arnav’s hand while bandaging it. We feel Lavanya pushed Khushi to Arnav because we’re privy to Arnav/Khushi’s feels and we know what it means for each to be around the other, alone. 

- I agree, it is a bit too sudden for me as well (La realizing Arnav likes Khushi) but going with the canon I feel it dawns on Lavanya why Arnav was more amenable around Khushi and why he became so defensive/angry when Khushi was around, because he is not just attracted but feels a lot for her.

- And a lot of things add up in Lavanya’s mind. What the writers brilliantly did was show the urgency and Lavanya’s constant unease with the engagement irrespective of Khushi. Lavanya already knew that Arnav was committing something while feeling something else. She constantly asked him if he was happy with the relationship, noticed he was often lost or non committal in plans for engagement, switched between affection to no reaction and had become even more cold as a fiancé than he was as a boyfriend. Lavanya was always uncomfortable with the rushed engagement but agreed because she feared their relationship was breaking and you know people hold on tighter before they let go so she chooses to unsee everything that makes her uncomfortable about their engagement.

- When Arnav apologizes to Lavanya for not being in the right space she forgives him in a heartbeat and instantly forgets all her woes but when he takes Khushi’s name Lavanya suddenly has an answer to all her questions. 

- And once she saw it, she couldn't unsee it. 

- And I feel Lavanya is one of the first people - or perhaps only - to understand the depth of Arnav’s feelings for Khushi. Which is why she advises him to be less guarded and chose love instead of hatred (WHICH IS SUCH A WISE ADVISE AND SHOWS HOW WELL SHE KNOWS HIM!!! #TEAMLA4EVER) and which is why she gives a barely there nudge to Khushi, again, knowing Khushi might have to bear more if she chooses to go into a relationship with Arnav. 

So I’ll put a stop now, hope this answer made sense!
