What is this?

Pink Onyx AU is a Steven Universe AU focused on interactions between Steven and Jasper and is intended to be read after you have finished Steven Universe Future, as it contains many many spoilers for the series. If you have watched it already, great! Welcome! The goal is to bring you a Jasper redemption arc that we couldn’t get due to time and cooperate restraints on the Crewniverse. I hope you enjoy!

I do not own these characters or their likenesses except for the single fluffy thembo fusion I created for the story. This is just a fan comic.

Comic is PG-13 for some angsty/touchy themes, minor blood, violence, and gem-cussing. Touchy-subjects will always be in a cartoon-ish metaphorical representation you would likely find on TV and be available for multiple interpretations.

When do you post?

Typically when you see this post pinned, I’m on a bit of a break, but when Nyx wakes up (this post goes away) the comic is due to be released 1 page at a time at 7am EST most days. I try for a daily release. Sometimes I skip a day if I’m behind. Episode release dates are always announced ahead of time by a few weeks.

Is this a romantic ship AU between Jasper and Steven?

Nope, more like an aunt and her nephew trying to figure it all out. No romance between these two here.

Is your Tapas updated at the same time?

Nope, tumblr comes first, and the tumblr will always have bonus content which Tapas will not. The Tapas for this updates after the tumblr version is completed. Usually same day or within a day.

Do you have a reference for Onyx? Sure do!

How do I use the ask system for this blog?

You can leave a message, or even an object, for the characters to interact with. The asks you leave can be answered by myself, Onyx, Steven or Jasper within the realm of this AU. Your asks will have no effect on the comic story. Think of it like the actors are in their dressing rooms and you get to give them a poke while they take a break! As the comic story progresses, their replies to your answers may change! Their responses will be in-character depending on where in the story we are.

My note by the den (an ask) was never answered. How come?

Lots and lots of asks come in every day. I wish I could answer them all! Since I draw something to go with most answers, especially the character ones, they do take a bit of time. Sometimes, I get duplicates of the same ask, or an ask that may refer to something that spoils the story if I answer it. I might hang onto those asks for a later time! Or group them into categories to answer all at once. I hoard asks for 1 year in an attempt to get to them. If I missed yours, know I tried and I love them anyway! I hope it does not discourage you in the future.

FAQ’s about the characters generated via interactive asks:

What kind of fusion is Pink Onyx? Are they good or bad? Pink Onyx is a fusion of a protagonist and an antagonist, so their alliance is yet unknown, but they have Steven’s good heart and Jasper’s loyal nature. They also have Steven and Jasper’s flaws, so they can be volatile and emotionally explosive at times, too.

What are Pink Onyx’s pronouns? Onyx likes they/them, but also answers to he/him and she/her, especially when Steven or Jasper is dominant over one another. They also seem to take on a fluid role and prefer a she/her when in a caretaker status. They dislike it/its.

What does Pink Onyx sound like? Personally, I hear them as a youthful, masculine tone. Like Steven if a little older. But I also enjoy when people say they hear them as a gruff, Amazonian-type feminine. I enjoy and endorse both.

Do Jasper and Steven enjoy being fused to one another? For now, it is a struggle, but they enjoy what the other brings to the fusion even if they won’t say it.

Does Pink Onyx need to eat and do human things? If so, do they enjoy it? They don’t need to do them, but they do feel the discomfort without them. Things like breathing, eating, and sleeping are optional for Onyx, but they will become quite irritable if not allowed to do them. They greatly enjoy sleeping and trying new foods.

What does Jasper think about having human organs when fused? She’s pretty grossed out by the idea of organic matter going into her mouth and coming out of other places. The heart beating and lungs breathing she can feel for the first time, and it is highly strange for her to experience.

What is Pink Onyx’s favorite food? They adore anything watermelon flavored and Cookie-cat ice cream products

Does Pink Onyx have any special fusion powers? They do, and as they learn about themselves, more powers seem to come out. Each of their base component appears to be enhanced in a unique way. They have Pink Diamond at their core, so the destructive potential is also there.

Why is Steven hiding Pink Onyx from others? This AU occurs directly after the events of "I Am My Monster", so Steven is very emotionally, and mentally, raw. He fears judgement for running back to Jasper, who in the past, was part of so much trauma he already endured.

Pink Onyx seems to know nothing about human culture and gem culture despite being a fusion. What’s going on? Jasper and Steven agreed to fuse, but they have yet to open up to one another about much else. The fusion exists because they agree to do so, but Jasper won’t open up about her emotions, and Steven is so sensitive yet that he is not sharing because he knows Jasper won’t want to hear it. This causes Onyx to be unable to access both of their memories easily, but they can bring it out with enough effort.

Backgrounds

I have recently changed my tune about backgrounds. If you would like a background, let me know and i will tell you if i think im up to it. Complex backgrounds are a fee of +%50 as they take a lot of time. If you have multiple characters, the background price is calculated AFTER the price of the additional characters. It is up to me to decide what a complex background is.

Simple/abstract backgrounds remain free of charge. If i think a work would benefit from it, i will put a solid or swirly colored shape behind it and send you a version with and without the background so you can decide which you like better. You may request a basic background on your own.

TOS:

I retain the right to post your completed piece to any of my social medias to use as an example of my work and a testament to my reliability. I will credit you when I do.

All payments are non-refundable unless for some reason i am unable to finish your piece, or we get part way through the process and i feel that i am unable to do your character(s) justice.

You MAY:

Post your completed piece wherever you please WITH appropriate credit by either linking my page or simply stating my name and platform.

edit my art in regards to cropping for profile pictures, adding an overlay to fit a theme, and resizing to fit a platform better

What is the process?

It's pretty simple! Send me a dm with a photo of your character(s) and tell me what you'd like. Let me know if you need a few days to get the money, or if there's a time constraint (like if the piece is a birthday or holiday gift). If you don't have an idea for a pose, please include a brief description of their personality. If there's characters interacting, let me know their relationship to one another and their dynamic.

I will respond with a price and if you're ok with proceeding I will mock up a vague sketch so you can get an idea of what it would look like. This will be watermarked and it will not even be very recognizable as your character. That's because I have been scammed and ghosted in the past, even with a very rough and watermarked sketch.

After that you will send 100% of the payment in order for me to proceed. Do not send payment via friends and family. I don't want to be banned from paypal lol

I work on a first come first serve basis, but i may work on a piece while waiting for approval on another. I will let you know if there is someone ahead of you. Once payment is received i will message you frequently with updates and for approval. Once lineart is finalized, i will update less often in order to creater a better final reveal. Your final piece will already be glazed to fight against ai stealing my style.

Depending on my life circumstances, this whole process could take from 1-3 days up to a month. The later is very unlikely, and i will message you with updates if i feel i am taking too long.

Optimus x "Heather" (OC)

I got another commission about my ship!!! This time made by Bel Lucilfer on Facebook

Look at them!!! They look so adorable!!

So, this artist doesn't know how to draw robots (even thought she made the cutest Optimus in the background, she added it just because :'1). So I just told her to draw the human version seen in Animated. I wanted to support her and it was worth the effort waiting.

This will be art I'll be using to promote my ship and as well my fanfic in which the couple will appear. "Heather" is the romantic interest of Optimus in my fanfic Transformers: Synthesis Wars.

Her name is in quotation marks since that's not her real name. She states from the beginning that she's using a fake name due to her not fully trusting the Autobots. Eventually she'll reveal her real name, but you'll have to wait for that one!

Her character will take time to appear, as well as her participation in the story. I'm saving the best for later!

IngramSpark: Good or Nah?

I decided to work with them last minute to set my book up for success, and, in case they screwed me over, I could hate them in a properly informed manner.

So!

IngramSpark (IGS) vs. Amazon (KDP) so far: A detailed comparison.

Spoiler Alert: FUCK INGRAMSPARK

Alrighty these are two proof copies (author copies) of the exact same book made with the exact same PDFs. IGS is on the left in all pics.

Stuff to note:

The IGS copy is slightly greener, the purple is less vibrant. KDP made the exact colors I painted this with in photoshop.

The KDP book is slightly thicker and while the spine print is slightly off center, the front cover is perfectly centered. Compare both of the lower moons on the right side and it's very obvious that IGS cut theirs incorrectly. It's cut incorrectly because their paper is thinner, thus needing a slightly narrower print PDF (which isn't something they would tell you).

KDP is slightly thicker because they used thicker paper. Theirs is less polished creme, you can feel more of a grain of the pages, but because they're thicker, they're less transparent. I can read straight through to not only the back of the title page, but straight onto the next piece of paper for the IGS copy, and theirs cost more to print.

KDP shipped in lighter packaging, which meant my copy got a little banged up as opposed to the cardboard coffin the IGS book was in. Pick your poison.

PROS

A breeze to work with in most areas. I did not need to use customer service, so I can’t comment on that, but I’ve heard it’s superior to IGS in every way. They do have a community chat that I have used when confused (more below) and pages upon pages of how-to resources.

Simple user interface, very easy to click through all the set-up menus and not once did it freeze or crash on me (more below).

Did not use their formatter or cover generator, I used Adobe and did my own so I can’t comment on their quality.

Their “print previewer” was fantastic. I could click through the whole book and they explained very thoroughly where some issues were and what I should look out for and they let me use my own files without issue instead of having to build them in the platform.

Their royalty rate is the best you can get in this industry, because they’re not selling to anyone but themselves so there’s no middle man taking a cut of the profit.

Print quality of the book itself is fantastic. Only thing I miss is the ability to emboss, but no print-on-demand company does that as far as I’m aware. The colors were an exact match to my design in Adobe, I have no complaints.

Instant reports and near-live report refreshes for ebooks. Print copies don’t register on reports until the book ships, but Amazon prints and ships within ~2 days.

Because it’s Amazon, even though proof copies aren’t applicable with Prime, my copy still got here in 5 days including print time. My print copy totaled the print cost plus $3 in standard shipping that I could have rushed.

It did get a little banged up on the bottom but I think that was during shipping not at the printing press.

If you’re really strapped for cash, they do offer free ISBNs *but these are KDP only ISBNs, you don’t own them, and they are non transferable between vendors and POD companies. Bite the bullet and just save up for your own ISBNs and buy them in bulk if you can and you plan on publishing at least 2 books in your lifetime (like a paperback and hardcover of the same book, even).

After I submitted my ebook for preorder, I kept finding little details to fix and lines I wasn’t happy with that got nixed at the 11th hour. Updating this was seamless and free and the updated versions were processed within 6 hours or so. Amazon did not lock in the files to the date the preorders were set like IngramSpark would have.

CONS

They still don’t have paperback preorder, but they do have a feature where you can submit for a future release, which is just giving your files over to go live on a set date. Thing is: When you get to the end of the setup, there’s a button that says something like “submit for publication” which does not actually mean “move your publication date to right now” like I thought. So I missed my paperback date by 2 days.

Their proof copy has that annoying grey “Not for Resale” stripe across the cover so it looks wonky in marketing images.

They have a “cover art size calculator” feature, which did not line up with the actual file size I needed come submission time, off by a few millimeters. Which meant resizing in Photoshop and it was incredibly annoying and tedious.

Upon finally hitting the “publish” button Amazon flagged my book and told me to fix the highlighted errors. Well there were no highlighted errors, and said error(s) could be anywhere across four pages of details. I had to consult the community notes to figure out what they were talking about (it was an ISBN issue) which was quite annoying.

IGS

PROS

Well-known as the best print-on-demand (POD) company with the widest reach, including Amazon, for expanded distribution. (NOT IN MY EXPERIENCE)

Also well-known as the highest quality self-publish paperback, that still doesn’t do embossing. (NOT IN MY EXPERIENCE)

They do paperback preorders (which I did not participate in).

Integrates flawlessly with libraries and retailers that Amazon won’t do (which is about its only claim to superiority). My book was searchable on Barnes & Noble within 48 hours.

IGS, like KDP, has free ISBNs (US only), with the exact same non-transferable issue. However, because they integrate across all sellers, Amazon included, if you only intend to work with them, you’ve reached every market anyway.

CONS

Their royalty rate sucks ass. I had to price my book $1 higher through IGS because I was literally at a deficit with all the printing costs and vendor discounts (so if you want my book for slightly cheaper, buy it through Amazon). Through IGS, I think I’m making about $1 in royalties, when all is said and done. And I’ve heard, shockingly, that that’s pretty good.

I didn’t try to use their customer service because I know it’s notoriously terrible. But it would have been helpful when their website crashed.

Their website crashed on me three times when trying to upload my files. Before it crashed, their “submit files” button simply did not work, so I had to go the roundabout way through their formatter and cover wizard (which I didn’t like) which then told me my 300DPI cover art was too small. The exact same file I submitted and had in my hands at perfect resolution to Amazon. It took almost 2 hours of running around in circles on their site to essentially start from scratch to get this up and running—and I did all of this with polished files from the get go because I knew revisions would be tedious. Can’t imagine the hassle if you aren’t ready to go immediately (this is why I didn't do a preorder with them).

I have heard that if you make changes to your files, they don’t go into effect until the next month, meaning if you have typos, and anyone buys your book before the next calendar month despite you fixing them in the system, that person is still buying the old version. I have also heard that generating reports is not seamless. After 60 days, revisions also cost you $25 a pop (KDP is free).

If you submit pre-made PDFs for your manuscript and cover (as in, you don’t format or generate them within their system) they do not have an instant previewer. Mine took 48 hours to deliver a link, when that shit should be automated and instantaneous and should allow me to use my own files.

IGS does not have Amazon’s monopoly on shipping, so to get my book here at all quickly, it cost me almost $20, rush fees applied for only 1 day faster than Amazon did. “Quickly,” being I ordered the proof on the 24th, and it won’t get here until the 28th. Meaning, that if you’re not paying rush fees, you’d have to wait longer.

They can be quite confusing with revisions during the preorder process. Per their website, they can begin printing your book “generally” 30 days before go-live. Which means someone who preordered your book on the 3rd gets the version of the book that was available on the 3rd, even if you update it on the 5th, because they print those immediately, even if the book’s official release date of the 30th hasn’t passed. You’d pretty much have to be completely done with revisions before setting up for preorder with them to be absolutely sure, which means wasted time. I don’t know why they don’t just queue up the books to be printed on a hard deadline a few days before release.

So. While I hate that Amazon has a monopoly, about the only thing IGS has going for it is their expanded distribution when everything about their business, from their platform to their user experience to the actual quality of books is at best dead even with KDP, but in my experience with my best foot forward, IGS annoyingly inferior.

I don’t think they’ll remain the “best POD company” for very much longer. I did not do hardcover for ENNS as of this post so I can’t comment on either service’s print quality, only what I’ve seen in other reviews. Some people like the jacket-less print-on-the-cardboard look (Amazon), some people (me) like the jacket, if only so I can use it as a bookmark.

*I wrote the above paragraphs before getting my proof copy from IGS and fucking hell they're not even competent at printing

It is also a massive waste of paper and shipping resources to have to print multiple versions of proof copies fixing errors outside of my control. My proof copy from KDP is perfect. IGS? Nope! But they wouldn't let me properly preview it so I had no idea this would happen.

Even as a consumer who might hate the idea of giving Amazon more money, there’s an argument to consider: I totally understand the desire to keep brick and mortar stores afloat and I don’t want Amazon’s monopoly on the market to grow even larger. However, Amazon makes sure that you’re making more than pocket change on your book, unless you jack up the prices for readers on the back end so the whole thing costs more all the way down the pipeline. I refused to do this.

That deficit that forced me to price ENNS even $1 higher than Amazon really bothers me with IngramSpark. That deficit exists because of a higher print cost and a 55% discount given to vendors so they can still make their cut of profit from stocking your book. IngramSpark had me sit through a whole video saying “if you don’t do this no one will stock your book” while saying you could go as low as 54% but that might scare off vendors.

In essence, at this time, KDP makes sure that you, the creator, make money. IGS makes sure that they and the businesses selling your book for you make money. I didn’t do any of this for profit, but it does hurt seeing all your hard work, possibly years of effort, have a royalty of $0.87.

So, yeah, is IngramSpark worth it?

I don’t yet know what their reach will amount to. It’s a dream of mine to see my book on a bookstore shelf, but signing up with IGS does not guarantee you sales, it just guarantees you the best chance possible at reaching potential buyers. But at the moment, all it looks like to me is fees, a bad UI, cheap printing, arrogance from perceived superiority in the market, and a business built boldly in favor of its own profits.

Amazon’s a shady-ass corporation, but I’m going to have to say they’re the better bet. At the very least, for your first book when you don’t have an audience and if making a profit is important to you.

Hello everyone! Thank you all for almost 50 followers!! :3c All activity has been on my main account @morguemaw, so if you want more direct content of Lusttale shoot me a ask about it!!!!

So, abit has changed over the few months and i have a update, coupled with info for all you new guys who found this blog!

1) AU is decided to be 16+. Its suggestive, no NSFW will be posted/shown as i want whatever content i MYSELF to post to be accessible to everyone within a comfortable range! There will be light sexual jokes, however if at any point it reaches too much, please tell me! I know the AU itself should obviously be considered a Explicit Rated AU, however i know there are people who enjoy the AU without the sexual aspects.

2) This AU is not a fan AU OR variant: This AU was made with the plan to 100% rewrite Underlust, i will explain below!!

Why the rewrite?:

I've loved Underlust since i joined the Undertale community, and others have too! However, the owner WAS involved and DID create content involving fontcest, a nazi Chara, Frans content, and was friends/mutuals with others who also created gross content like BlogTheGreatRogue and Lizherubones. This disgusted me and made alot of others feel the same. The AU was left off on a confusing as shit note, from the disgusting writing of Lust MTT to the messed up relationship between the brothers. I want to erase this the best i can. Alot of characters have also 0 content (Such as Lust Alphys) and although i will mostly focus on Sans/Papyrus/Frisk still, i WILL be creating content for mostly every character to again ensure the AU is fully fleshed out for as much enjoyment as possible.

Wheres the creator/owner?:

Awhile back, the owner, NSFWshamecave/Niel, left the internet and the AU for personal and mental reasons and bounced between owning and not owning the Au. They have since been MIA(Missing In Action) from the internet and AU, i doubt they will return or be involved at this point. The AU is considered fandom owned, which if you prefer that i support it, but do not interact with my blog as im basing everything on a rewritten POV with the entire intent to overhaul the AU without being too different or too similar.

What about the Underlust domain name?:

Lusttale CAN be called Underlust, BUT i prefer Lusttale to separate it as its alot easier, HOWEVER i have no issue with it being called Underlust! (Just still please credit/tag me, id love to see any content!)

What about fan AUs or others who make their own Variants?:

Keep going! I support these ten fold. Ive seen so many creative AUs overall, including a recent aroace one that has such adorable designs and is why i want to refresh myself and explain this blog to anyone new who might mistake me as a fan account. If you want to consider your variant a version/variant of my Rewritten AU, please tag me! Id love to see your AUs, your Varaints, EVERYTHING!!

HOWEVER. I do NOT support a single soul who ever uses my AU for Frans, Fontcest, or akin. Dont tag me OR interact with me, its public knowledge how the community feels about those, and im one of the many who don't like that content and wish for my AU to not be used in it. Self inserts, OC/Y/N x Lusttale, or etc is the same, id love to see it!!

What about Swaplust/Lustfell/AUs?:

Swaplust is also inactive: I have had my own interpretation of Swaplust since i found the AU when it was first made, Lustfell however i dont know, if its requested i will create something but i dont want to just claim every Lust AU out there. Not saying im claiming ownership of Swaplust, im saying that the Swaplust i want to make will be considered canon AU and it will be the ONLY Underlust AU i will ever claim, Swaplust has the same exact permissions. (Swaplust too had a very close Frans suggested ship, that is my reason for it)

To clarify if needed, im not forcing the view of me owning the AU onto every Underlust created content, im just saying if you yourself, the community, support what i do, i will continue, hence why i say tag me! I love to see it!

What about headcanons/outdated info like Sans being shorter?:

RN, Sans is the same size as Gaster Sans (i think 5' something?) however im fine with people drawing him short! ^^

Head-canons are also fully fine!!! Tell me any you think of, id love to hear. As long as you respect that i have my own plans, id be overjoyed to read whatever you guys think of or have.

So, to sum it up, Underlust has had a MIA owner since 2019/2020. Because of the history, and the way its loved, its a massive honor if i could step up and help give the community a AU with a solid backstory, solid characters with fleshed out personalities, and a structured plot that will replace something that was/is beloved. The best i can explain it, is my goal is to structure the AU but still keep support for the community as the AU was indeed considered Fandom Owned, again, you do not have to support me wanting to claim it, just do not bash me for it, as im absolutely not considering Lusttale a variant or AU, im considering Lusttale canon.

Questions are welcomed, if you have any concerns i can also explain! (Anon/Off Anon preferred so i can have it be public accessible incase others have the same questions)

i was anti-rpf for a good chunk of my teens (like i made a face when someone showed me their hannigram merch lol, 2017 was a different time for me) but when i finally moved out of my designated safe for shipping space which was comics and cartoons and got into live-action movie fandoms, i finally noticed the tenuous space separating the fics i loved and the ppl who take inspiration from their actors, blending their quirks and interests together so discreetly you wouldnt think to notice this as an outsider, where fanon was the community playground, au versions of the characters get passed around and everyone had their own take.... it was eye opening for me.

now that i'm into rpf/reader-insert adjacent spaces it's been fun seeing the collaborative headcanons when a new photoshoot comes up and everyone scrambles to update their moodboards, the excited asks coming in, ficlets get produced posthaste... even if i'm not into the material itself it's very fun watching them have fun! i just lurk on 2-3 blogs that publish anon asks and that's essentially my interactions lol

OuterRenaissance. It's still being fleshed out (asks would help a lot), and I plan to later on make an outcode expanded version, and even have some basic stuff for that version. But in simple words it's Outertale but in addition of the space themes, i added themes of the Renaissance historical period, as it brought great advances to science; including astronomy!

Backstory???

Its AU died (destroyed by Error), and it almost did too, but i possessed it and fused my soul over time with its own using my creator powers and it is now technically a walking corpse puppeteered by me so I can interact with the UTMV, while also forcing it to change its form into the Doppelganger form; giving it the ability to, well, shapeshift. Also ink snas selfship shenanigans i haven't properly written yet (yooo two walking corpses that love eachother!!!!!1!!!1). that's the fewest words i can put it in

Yes. Yes it is. and fun fact: the ship between Io and Ink is named exactly that. The Starry Night. how clever of me, i should get a prize

Does it have a personality?

Yup. I just don't know how to describe personalities, but here's an attempt at that.

Io is a passionate artist, but struggles with some degree of perfectionism driven by the pride of its art skills which are, by far, its best ability. It also tends to be (sometimes dangerously) kind-hearted at others. It might act one of two ways in social spaces: kind of awkward, not talking much, OR ABSOLUTE MENACE as in SUPER SILLY. No in-between.

Also, it is a quick learner, and could be considered quite intelligent. Thing is ... It carried over speech from the Renaissance time period and is still adapting to modern words. A bit of an overthinker too, which can lead to communication issues, and tends to plan elaborate strategies to perform the simplest of things...sometimes not even following them.

Pronouns/gender identity?

Io, like me, goes by it/its pronouns and identifies as non-binary! (Subject to change as I occasionally explore my gender identity)

And here's some trivia to finish this off!

Io, due to being puppeteered by me; a Creator, also has the powers of one, but either doesn't use the powers at all or uses them in subtle ways to try and steer things to its/my favour. It may sometimes disguise it as "art magic" shown in these doodles i made a bit ago:

So The Escaptist Youtube is Dead

I know what you're thinking, "Wow this twink is late to this party-JESUS CHRIST GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" To that I say, calm down, you're giving me a migraine. Also yes, this is an old story now. I still want to share my thoughts on it though.

For those of you who don't know, the Escapist magazine had a fairly popular YouTube channel centered around game criticism, development, and commentary with the one and only Benjamin Yahtzee Croshaw hosting the most popular show on the channel, Zero Punctuation. A series that has been going since 2007 and is the source of the PC gaming master race meme. In recent years the Escaptist brought on the editor Nick Calandra to lead the video department. He managed to lead a golden age for the Escapist YouTube channel, there hasn't been this much variety since before Yahtzee became the only creator on the channel.

It all came crashing down on November 6, 2023, when the Escapist decided to fire Calandra and a good portion of the video team. This was the biggest mistake the magazine has ever made, because apparently everyone, and I do mean everyone involved in video making absolutely loved Calandra and they all quit on mass. This was such a disaster for the escapist that the YouTube channel was dead for two weeks until the remainder of the video backlog was all uploaded at once. Meanwhile everyone started up a new channel called Second Wind with all the shows that were on the Escaptist with the exception of Zero Punctuation. When Yahtzee originally joined the Escapists in 2007, he sold the rights to his original show called Fullyramblomatic. The Zero Punctuation name was fully on the Escapist, and also the designs of Yahtzees avatar and the little jelly bean imps. For the first week Yahtzee had to figure out a new name and design where upon he landed on a legally distinct version called Fully Ramblomatic with a space, and now the imps are replaced with dogs, because dogs are great, and Yahtzee's fedora is black and he now has a suit and glasses. Clearly they're taking the piss on the Escapists for the whole situation. All the other shows also kept the art style of Zero Punctuation, most keeping the names too.

This isn't the first time this happened either, they dropped the ball on Extra Credits when they didn't pay them, and screwed over Stephanie Sterling with not publishing their reviews. Those two are what eventually lead to Yahtzee's takeover of the channel. Now the channel is sitting there dead, hasn't been updated since the last Zero Punctuation compilation was published. Now the Escapist YouTube channel may never recover, they still own Zero Punctuation, but what are they even going to do with it aside from just sit on it like a jewel in their dragon's hoard. The rest of the magazine is doing fine, so they may just pivot purely to that for the next few years. Second Wind is currently thriving on the audience that jumped ship while also being fully independent, which means more swearing.

In the meantime, join me as we sing a little tune that I feel is very appropriate for this.

He’s heeeerrrreeeee! As many of you probably already knew, from this issue onwards, StC Robotnik will have a design inspired by that of the cartoons of the time. This seemed to be “the western Robotnik” at the time, although the mileage may vary there. While this game didn't affect StC at all, even SEGASonic Arcade was intended to use the western Robotnik design at one point in development, but this didn't reach the final game. But the fact of the matter is that he’s here and he’ll stay here for the rest of the run. He gets an outfit update for the Sonic Adventure adaptation at the very end of the series, but that’s about it as far as I can remember

Amy is also here and she’ll be a lot more present this time than she was in the last issue, I’m glad to say

Don’t worry Sonic, as the self-appointed president of the AroAce Sonic Fan Club, I believe you about Amy not being your girlfriend, even if Grimer doesn’t. I do like the nod that Sonic already knows Grimer, even if we haven’t seen them interact before now. So far, StC has taken the approach of “these characters mostly already know each other, you just didn’t see how they met”. And as a fan, I like that, because it means that I can fill in the blanks myself in fanwork. I know there’s probably not a lot of folks racing to make fanfics or comics about how Sonic met Grimer specifically, but it’d also be cool to see takes on how he met Porker, Johnny, Tails, etc., in StC. I just like when that kind of backstory is left up to the fans’ imagination

Robotnik is eager for everyone to check out his new look and Sonic is of course, not impressed, but he gets a move on as Amy’s safety is put on the line

We get a short sequence of the duo breaking free, but I’m more interested in this cool robot Amy design! Granted, she doesn’t do anything before getting destroyed, but I do like that StC is once again ahead of the curve by giving us a Metal Amy years before any other Sonic media would make good on that concept. Not only that, but we get another reminder of how messed up the whole badnik process is here, with Amy saying that the programming is taking over her brain As a side note, looking at Sonic’s reaction here, I’m kind of starting to see why I personally never got into SonAmy as a romantic ship, because this was the version of Sonic I knew first, he was my main Sonic for a chunk of my childhood, and he’s really not into the idea of dating Amy

Carrying on from that, I just wanted to share this panel of Sonic rescuing Amy from the badnik because I like it

Our heroes escape and aren’t followed because Grimer was annoyed about the badniks destroying his bubble prison earlier, so he smashed them all up. Given that last line from Robotnik, it’d be funny if we never saw Grimer again after this. But he’ll endure and next time he appears, he’ll be written entirely as his own character and not as a Snively stand-in

Back at the base, Johnny’s making a suggestion that probably won’t go down well with Sonic - that Amy should join his Boys’ Club for her own safety

Eh, actually, Sonic takes that better than I thought he would. He’s just more annoyed at Amy claiming to be his girlfriend. We get Amy mischievously saying “Not yet, anyway!” Which is even funnier with the hindsight that she’ll never be with Sonic in StC and actually goes on to start a family with Tekno the Canary :’)

Also, I’m looking at Johnny’s nervous glance there. I always remember my friend telling me that Johnny had a crush on Amy, but never actually seeing that for myself? So, I am curious to see if that’s something that’ll turn up somewhere in these early comics

To see us out we get the tease of another fan-fave from the games… Metal Sonic! Known in StC as Metallix. We’ll get a lot of mileage out of Metallix, that’s for sure The preview text also says that next time we’re meeting another StC regular, Captain Plunder. I am unapologetically a fan of Captain Plunder, so I'm looking forward to that Once again, this issue gave us a lot! It might be the only Sonic story in this issue, but it did the legwork to make up for it. I know a lot of people aren’t fond of the comics coming up with these explanations for the characters’ design changes, but admittedly, it’s something that’s never bothered me. I do think it’s probably cleaner writing just to update their designs and not say anything, but I don’t mind having silly explanations like “Robotnik used an egg cocoon to transform” or the chaos energy being what gives Sonic his green eyes. I know some takes on design updates are better than others, but I can’t say I have the same strong opinion about them that many folks do. But that aside, we have Amy officially joining the Freedom Fighters! She’ll go on to be one of the most prominent members of the group. I’m not sure how her early stories play out, since she was already the crossbow badass by the time I picked up issue 80, so it’ll be fun to watch her character change over time

COMMISSION TERMS OF SERVICE & DETAILS BELOW

DESIGN FEE: If I’m only given a written description, or if the images supplied do not give me enough of a starting point to which I don’t have to do much for my own research, a design fee will be applied to the final price. This is to reflect the time and effort that is spent on research and design. To avoid the fee, please be as precise with what you want as possible. Having to look up a few small things is fine, but it’s harder to build a design based on a “vibe.”

DETAILED FEE: If a design is incredibly complicated (such as intricate patterns, an overabundance of props, added background detail beyond a solid color/simple pattern etc) an extra fee maybe added to be discussed before the commission takes place. If I get creative afterwards of my own volition and you think my addition looks cool (or even if you’d prefer I keep it simple) an extra charge won’t be added.

PAYMENT: Invoice will be sent at the start, and half of full payment must be sent before work can begin. Once the design is finalized by screenshot preview, the final half of payment must be sent before hi-res files are distributed. Tips are welcome but not required. PROCESS: At each stage of the drawing, I will send an update to ensure it is going smoothly. If there are a lot of big changes being made, especially at the later stages, I may charge an extra $10 per subsequent change to reflect the additional time and effort.

FILE TYPES: I am able to accommodate most file type requests. If a CMYK file is needed, I can easily send a printable version (for personal use only). 

USAGE: This commission is for personal use only. Just a little disclaimer that these are just HEADCANONS and these are also my version of the sins! This includes redesigns and my own original designs. Nothing about this is canon, this is just for fun. Now onto the fun stuff-! You can find flat color versions at the bottom.

I always hc'd that Ozzie was most likely the tallest of the sins. Even in my own little AU, he's still the tallest. To put a number on it, I went ahead and the absolutely reasonable height of 10ft. Something else noticeable with him is he looks different from canon. This is because I'm using a redesigned version (Not made in bad faith, I actually love canon Ozzie a lot). I'll eventually post a solo of his redesign and explain it better there.

As for Bee, even before I revamped my original design, she was always going to be the second tallest of my sins. She stands at a height of 9ft 2in. With the release of s1e8, I had decided to go for a revamp of my original design to fit my headcanons for Hell a little better as well as using the canon Bee as inspiration. I'll eventually post a solo of her revamped design as well with a better explanation. -> You can now find her solo reference here!

In my original height chart, I had planned on Bel being the fourth tallest but had changed my mind due to a Mammon reveal. And even now, he still sits at third tallest with a height of 8ft 10in. I already posted his revamped design earlier. He really didn't change too much.

Now for Mammon, who follows a pretty hefty height gap from his taller siblings, falls at 6ft 5in. The most noticeable thing is probably that he looks nothing like how most would depict the show's Mammon. The reason for this is because, for the most part, I sidelined my concepts for the canon Mammon and made my own. If you're interested in what I think he might look like in canon, that design is on the first height chart I made, which is linked at the top of the post. The only thing I kept was the four arms, cause I wanted more than just Bee to have multiple sets of arms. Otherwise, his current design here is based on older designs I had for him. I'll eventually post a solo for this design along with some better explanations.

Outside of me giving him an extra finger (cause I decided to jump ship on the three finger, one thumb style.) Leviathan didn't really change at all. He's still shorter than most of his siblings, standing at an even 6ft. Satan falls in the same boat of largely staying the same as my earlier concepts. The only real thing that "changed" about him are his outfits and personality. Design wise, he remains the second tallest sin at 5ft 7in. And lastly, of course, I kept Lucifer as the shortest. I find it pretty funny that he's barely half Ozzie's height, yet he's the King of Hell. I have Lucifer standing at a whopping 5ft 5in (Still taller than me, though). You can find his solo redesign post here.

Up late doing game prep, mind started to wander, ended up on the old tumblr account on a whim, likely cause a few of my current game’s players are role playing their PCs on here now.  Anyhow, my mind drifted to said suggestion of preparing an adventurer arc as Nue would.  And it’s an interesting thought experiment to say the least, not the least because it’s been ages since I’ve gotten into Nue’s headspace, and I’m out of practice.  Figured I’d write this up, it ended up a little more rambly then I intended, but hey, what do you want?  It’s the wee hours of the morning and I should really be asleep.

Now while, I didn’t have time to actually build an adventurer via Nue logic; and truthfully couldn’t really be true to her in doing so since I’d be reigning in her worse impulses in trying to actually make the game fun; I did end up with some thoughts for what might be fun to do to my players if they ever end up in a context that this would be appropriate.

Probably the biggest one is to make use of Roll20′s ability to have players on different maps.  Since the players don’t immediately know if they’re on different maps from each other, this could allow you to have subtle (or not so subtle) differences in who sees what.  There are only really two big interface tells that they’re on different maps, the first is that when initiatives are bound to tokens players only see things in the initiative tracker that are on the same map as them, which with multiple windows and quick mouse work and some clever token bound macros you could make non obvious enough (or just avoid combat).  The second one you have less control over being player pings, though you could probably play that off as Roll20 being busted if you timed the session to be right after an update (remember when them messing with the lighting layer broke token health bar justification for a week?)

This could be used to do things like swap out map images briefly for one player but not others.  For example, my PCs are currently on a haunted ship, so if I were to this now, and one of the PCs failed a save against one of the haunt effects, I could change the map layer image for just their instance of the map to some version that I’ve added a shit load of blood splatter to.  Probably via having the map layer be a multi-sided token on each map.  Of course the problem with doing that is that the new image would have to be loaded, and if the player’s connection is slow, it could be obvious that’s what I’ve done, before the effect fully loads, never good to draw attention to the smoke when one is playing with smoke and mirrors.  So I might have to do it by having each map image over top of one another on the map layer to make sure each image is cached on the player’s side.

The next idea that occurs to me would be to use animated tokens.  It wouldn’t have quite the same effect as the first time I used it (when the PCs encountered an entity of divine rank), as the feature had just been released so the players didn’t even know animated tokens were possible.  But I almost never use animated effects so I think it’d still have a use.  In the context of the above multiple maps thing.  What if I made an animated token of each of the PC’s token’s each fading slowly into the token of the enemies, set to not repeat?  Then on each player’s instance of the map I make sure to do that to every PC other than their own, can they remember who was friend and foe?

Then there’s the shit I could do with some of the roll20 API things... actually I’m not going to detail that here... I just found one I’m actually going to do to them in a session or two... and ya, they might read this.

Beyond that there’s interface screws I can do on discord.  I think the most useful would be to slowly (or perhaps suddenly, context depending) lower the bitrate of the voice channel until it sounds like a tin can.  That could if used, and timed properly be quite creepy I think.

Course managing all that, especially the map thing, would be a nightmare.  But hey, I could always use an excuse to justify adding yet another monitor to my setup.

Remodeling the HM Supply First Fleet Ship

I have decided to start on my recreation of of of my old Model ships I 3D Modeled back in early 2020 when I was still learning Blender and also teaching myself how to model Sailing ship hulls. This was modeled initially for work in my old job.

I had wanted to and had planned to update that model and my other ships / other models, in time. but since I lost my job last year, this would basically not happen other than for my own self, which is still something that I wish to do and improve my collections, since some were modeled a few years ago.

Here is the beginnings for my Latest reconstruction, this time adding further details, and further matching the drawings and traditional building designs for the time period with my revised modeling techniques, my old boss will not be getting this version!
