Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

Seen a few people too many discuss the concept of Dragodile Baby 2 and my hot take is that there's no way in hell Crocodile would ever detransition just to go through nine months of horrible dysphoria again, let alone go through pregnancy ever again (or allow Ivankov to even touch him, what if they died and weren't able to trans Croc's gender again afterwards? Hell naw, ain't worth the risk)

But this leaves an opportunity for a Funnier Option:

am begging fandom at large to adopt my niche but ultimately extremely correct take that giles would have been immediately tech literate had jenny lived. HE WAS HOLDING A PROGRAMMING BOOK WHEN HE TRIED TO ASK HER OUT. man was doing his HOMEWORK. he loves her so much & his reticence re: computers would have eroded just the same way he stayed at that monster truck rally. it would have been full of passive aggressive comments in places but he would still be taking notes on every single thing she has to say.

I've expressed before how doing vehicles and machines are pretty hard for me. That said, I really wanted to design a vessel for the pirate crew I've been designing. My two main requirements were that it needed to differ from a traditional pirate ship and needed to have mechanical elements. The first idea at the top was a nuclear submarine called the Typhon (a play on the Russian Typhoon class submarines) but it didn't look interesting enough to me. I then decided to incorporate my creature design skills and make the vessel a cyborg sea monster inspired by sea turtles, manta rays, and sharks. I call this one the Apukohai after a sea monster from Hawaiian mythology. I may improve on the design a bit but I would like everyone's feedback first while I work on other projects.

So as always, comments and critiques are welcome.

i'm having lawrence of arabia thoughts now, but that movie is so good, and I mean it is 100% a product of its time (the egregious brown face speaks for itself), but there was a sensibility towards lawrence's orientalism that was so cutting and smart! They were so careful at making it obvious that Ali loved Lawrence because he was Lawrence, a man he respected and was attracted to, but Lawrence loved Ali because he saw him as the epitome of the ideal "arab man". He exotizes him constantly, and yet Ali always saw the humanity in Lawrence while Lawrence saw a racialized ideal in him. It's a very subtle and keen depiction of a relationship doomed by cultural and racial fetishism. The ending scene where Lawrence looks back at the bedouin men wearing all black looking for Ali is so telling, he's looking for him in every arab man, because he's in love with a concept not a person.
