https://archiveofourown.org/works/25388878 -  Leo and Calypso are back. Annabeth has a few things to say to them both. Mainly about how they treated Percy. After all, it's not like Percy asked to be kidnapped and have his memories forcibly taken from him. That made it a little difficult to make Zeus honour his promise.
https://archiveofourown.org/series/461671 -  Food is terrible, decor tasteless, weekend shifts seem to correspond with the onset of natural disasters??? Serving staff is pretty great, though, overall 3.5/5 would probably go again

FLIGHTLINE: 181 - DORNIER DO 335 PFEIL ("ARROW")
Initially designed in response to a request for a Schnellbomber, the Do 335 was reconfigured into a multi-role aircraft, though only a few were completed before Germany surrendered.
Claude Dornier founded the Dornier Flugzeugwerke ("Aircraft factory") in 1914, and was renowned for building large, all-metal flying boats as well as land-based passenger aircraft between the Great War and WWII. These included the record-breaking Do 16 Wal ("Whale") of 1924, the Do X of 1929, and the Komet ("Comet") and Merkur ("Mercury"), a favorite of Lufthansa and SCADTA in Colombia, as well as several South American militaries. A feature of many Dornier aircraft were tandem engines, a tractor and a pusher motor placed back to back. This arrangement allowed an aircraft to enjoy the extra power of having multiple engines without the associated drag of having multiple tractor installations. It also alleviated the issue of asymmetric thrust in case of an engine failure.

DEUTSCHLAND PFEILE
What became the Do 335 originated in 1939, while Dornier was working on the P.59 Schellbomber ("high-speed bomber"), which would have carried and equivalent load to a Ju 88 or Me 410, but featured a tandem engine arrangement. Work on the P.59 was cancelled in 1940, but Dornier had already commissioned a test aircraft, the Göppingen Gö 9, to test the feasibility of connecting a pusher prop via an extended drive shaft. The Go 9 was based on the Do 17 bomber, but scaled down 40% and with a cruciform tail. The test plane validated Dornier's designs, though the eventual fate of the Go 9 is not known (likely though, it was destroyed by Allied bombing or recycled).

The P.59's general design was resurrected in 1942 when the RLM requested a high-speed bomber with a 1,000kg payload. Dornier submission, designated the P.231, was awarded a development contract and the model number Do 335. Late in 1942, the requirements were changed from a Schnellbomber to a multirole fighter, which resulted in extensive delays while the designs were updated.
FLUGZEUGSPEZIFIKATIONEN
The Do 335 was 13.85m long, with a wingspan of 13.8m and a height of 5m. Empty, the plane weighed 7,260kg, while at max TO the weight was 9,600kg (10,000kg for the two-seat trainers and night fighter variants). Power was provided by two Daimler-Benz DB 603E-1 liquid-cooled V-12s developing 1,324kW each. Due to the situation in late-war Germany, the engines were fitted to run on 87 octane "B4" lignite-derived synthetic fuel, and MW50 boost was also available for additional speed. The basic fighter/bomber variant was armed with a singe 30mm MK 103 cannon firing through the spinner and two 20mm MG 151/20 autocannon mounted in the front engine cowl and synchronized to fire through the prop disc. A single 500kg bomb could be carried internally, and two pylons on the wings could be fitted with bombs, gun pods or drop tanks, with a total load of 100kg. During flight tests, the Do 335 hit 763kmh with boost (686kmh without), making it the fastest production fighter the Luftwaffe fielded during WWII. Under single-engine operations, the plane could still fly at 563kmh. Service ceiling was 11,400m, and under ideal conditions the plane could climb to 8,000m in 14 minutes 30 seconds. Due to concerns over a pilot striking the dorsal fin or the rear prop (a common concern in pusher designs before ejector seats became common), explosive charges would sever the fin and propeller before the pilot would bail out.

Maiden flight of the Do 335 V1 prototype was on 26 October 1943. A total of 27 flights were made with the V1, which uncovered a weakness in the landing gear, and issues with the main landing gear wheel-well doors saw them removed for the majority of the flights. The second aircraft, V2, first flew on 31 December 1943, and featured uprated DB 603A-2 engines as well as aerodynamic changes informed by the V1's test flights as well as wind tunnel tests. Maiden flight of the V3 pre-production aircraft was on 20 January 1944, which was fitted with DB 603G-0 engines, which produced 1,400kW at take off. The V3 was also fitted with two rear-view mirrors, alleviating blind spots caused by the location of the aft engine. A total of ten preproduction aircraft were then ordered, and in January the RLM ordered five more prototypes of the night fighter variant, later designated the A-6. By war's end, at least 16 prototypes of the Do 335 and related programs had flown, accumulating some 60 flight hours.

Production of the Do 335 was given maximum priority under Hitler's Jägernotprogramm (Emergency Fighter Program), issued on 23 May 1944, and the competing He 219 Uhu ("eagle-owl") Nachtjäger theoretically freed up needed DB 603 engines for the Pfeil, but in practice Heinkel continued production of the 219A. Dornier's factories in Friedrichshafen and Munchen were anticipated to produce 120 and 2,000 Do 335s, of various configurations, by March 1946, but an Allied attack on Friedrichshafen destroyed tooling for the Pfeil, which resulted in a new line being set up in Oberpfaffenhofen. The first preproduction Do 335 A-0 model was delivered in July 1944, and construction of the first production A-1 model began in late 1944. As the war progressed, various models of the Do 335 proliferated (as happened often with late-war aircraft programs) as the Nazis sought to turn back the Allied forces:
Do 335 A-2: single-seat fighter-bomber aircraft with new weapon sights, later proposed longer wing and updated 1,471 kW (1,973 hp) DB603L engines.
Do 335 A-3: single-seat reconnaissance aircraft built from A-1 aircraft, later proposed with longer wing.
Do 335 A-4: single-seat reconnaissance aircraft with smaller cameras than the A-3
Do 335 A-5: single-seat night fighter aircraft, later night and bad weather fighter with enlarged wing and DB603L engines.
Do 335 A-6: two-seat night fighter aircraft, with completely separate second cockpit located above and behind the original.
Do 335 A-7: A-6 with longer wing.
Do 335 A-8: A-4 fitted with longer wing.
Do 335 A-9: A-4 fitted with longer wing, DB603L engines and pressurized cockpit.
Do 335 A-11/12: A-0 refitted with a second cockpit to serve as trainers.
Tumblr media

Do 335 B-1: abandoned in development.
Do 335 B-2: single-seat destroyer aircraft. Fitted with 2 additional MK 103 in the wings and provision to carry two standard Luftwaffe 300 litre (80 US gal) drop tanks.
Do 335 B-3: updated B-1 but with longer wing.
Do 335 B-4: update of the B-1 with longer wing, DB603L engine.
Do 335 B-6: night fighter.
Do 335 B-12: dual-seat trainer version for the B-series aircraft.
Do 435: a Do 335 with the redesigned, longer wing. Allied intelligence reports from early May 1945 mention spotting a Do 435 at the Dornier factory airfield at Lowenthal.
Do 535: actually the He 535, once the Dornier P254 design was handed over to Heinkel in October 1944; fitted with jet engine in place of rear piston engine.
Do 635: twin-fuselaged long-range reconnaissance version. Also called Junkers Ju 635 or Do 335Z. Mock up only.
P 256: turbojet nightfighter version, with two podded HeS 011 turbojet engines; based on Do 335 airframe.
In April 1945 the Allies captured the Oberpfaffenhofen factory in late April 1945, capturing 11 A-1 fighter/bombers and 2 A-12 trainers. That same month, a flight of four RAF Hawker Tempests, led by French ace Pierre Clostermann, encountered an unknown model of Do 335 over northern Germany at low altitude. The Pfeil pilot began evasive maneuvers, but Clostermann opted to not give chase as the enemy plane displayed superior speed. At the time of the German capitulation in 1945, 22 Do 335A-0, A-1 and A-11/12 aircraft were known to have been completed.

At least two Do 335s were brought to the US under Operation LUSTY, with one, Do 335 A-0, designated A-02, with construction number (Werknummer) 240 102, and Stammkennzeichen ("factory radio code registration") VG+PH being claimed by the Navy for testing. The aircraft was transported on HMS Reaper along with other captured German aircraft, then shipped to the Navy's Test and Evaluation center at NAS Pax River. Another Pfeil was tested by the USAAF at Freeman Field in Indiana, but nothing is known about its fate. In 1961 VG+PH was transferred to the Smithsonian Institution, though it remained outside at NAS Oceana until 1974, when it was shipped back to the Dornier factory in Oberpfaffenhofen for restoration. Over the next year, volunteers from Dornier (some of whom worked on the aircraft originally) found that the explosive charges meant to sever the tail and aft prop were still installed and live, thirty years later. After work was completed the aircraft was placed on display at the Hannover Airshow from 1 to 9 May 1976, and afterwards it was on loan to the Deutsches Museum until 1988. The aircraft was shipped back the States after that, and is now on display at the Udvar-Hazy Center along with other German aircraft brought over during Lusty like the only known Ar 234 Blitz jet bomber and the partially restored He 219A Uhu.

Bikuni Bridge in Snow, No. 114 from One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, Utagawa Hiroshige, 10th month of 1858, Brooklyn Museum: Asian Art
This view looks across Bikuni Bridge (toward Sukiyabashi Gate and the current Sukiyabashi intersection), where a laden porter is approaching the street beyond where a fire tower rises up. Snow is falling from the deep indigo sky. On the further side is a man with his head buried in his umbrella. In Hiroshige's day, Bikunibashi (Nun's Bridge) was associated with the bikuni, a type of low-class prostitute originally disguised as a nun. The bikuni, who were of a slightly higher grade than the yotaka (seen in print 105 of the series), worked in cheap, unlicensed brothels known as bikuniyado, several of which were reported to have been located in this area. On the right is a stall selling roasted yams, a winter favorite in Tokyo; the lantern advertises maruyaki, or "roasted whole." Baskets of yams lie on the ground outside, near a dog and her puppies. On the left is a shop offering "mountain whale" (yamakujira - meat of wild animals). In an earlier period Buddhist law prohibited the eating of animal meat, but this taboo was breaking down by Hiroshige's day. Shops of this type were always located in rather disreputable places and would offer boar, monkey, raccoon-dog, otter, fox, wolf, and weasel. According to Ishii Kendo, this particular shop was still in business at the same location in 1919, but was offering chicken and beef, meat of domesticated animals. It is theorized that this print may be the work of Shigenobu, the future Hiroshige II. The style and content do not appear to be characteristic of Hiroshige; the empty space in the foreground and the placement of the snowflakes in the sky offer a sense of incompletion. Size: Sheet: 14 3/16 x 9 1/4 in. (36 x 23.5 cm) Image: 8 3/4 in. (22.2 cm) Medium: Woodblock print

FEATURE: The Anime Stars of Genshin Impact
Tumblr media
Image via miHoYo
Genshin Impact has lived up to its name in that it has indeed made an impact upon the gaming world. Launched on September 26, the free-to-play open-world game has amassed $245 million in only its first month, and that's from Android and iOS alone. I'm not ashamed to say that I have sunk an unholy number of hours into this game. Why do I like this game so much? Perhaps the biggest reason Genshin Impact is so appealing to me is that I am an anime fan.
Voices from all over the world of anime can be heard in Genshin Impact, from Naruto to My Hero Academia to currently airing seasonal anime. Being able to "hear" your favorite anime character in-game is part of what makes this game so great. Let's take a look at some of the talented people from the anime industry whose voices bring the characters of Genshin Impact to life.
  Paimon (Aoi Koga)
Tumblr media
Paimon is the face of Genshin Impact. No, literally, her face is on the launcher icon. Imagine my shock when I found out she is voiced by Aoi Koga, the voice of Kaguya Shinomiya from Kaguya-sama: Love is War. The intimidatingly smart rich girl Kaguya and the squeaky and energetic (and kinda stupid) Paimon couldn't be more different. Props to Koga for making both work. Koga has also voiced Elulu from Cautious Hero, Yuri Miyata from TWOCAR, and Sora Kaneshiro from Angel's 3Piece.
Male Traveler (Shun Horie)
Tumblr media
One of the first actions you take in the game (in most games, for that matter) is to choose your character. In Genshin Impact, you choose between two world-traveling twins, who the other characters simply refer to as "Traveler." The male Traveler (whose official name is Aether) is voiced by Shun Horie. I personally recognize him as Enta from Sarazanmai, but most would know him as Kazuya ("Kazuya-kuuuuun!") from Rent-a-Girlfriend. Some of his other roles include Ichiro Suzuki aka Satou Pendragon from Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody, Rat from Juni Taisen: Zodiac War, and Hacker from this season's Akudama Drive.
Female Traveler (Aoi Yuuki)
Tumblr media
What about the female Traveler (whose official name is Lumine)? Turns out she's voiced by Aoi Yuuki, who voices ... Mami from the same show. The irony of this coincidence is not lost on me. Yuuki is probably best known for voicing Madoka Kaname, the protagonist of Puella Magi Madoka Magica. To me, however, her most memorable role was as the titular Boogiepop in 2019's Boogiepop and Others; an unforgettable performance. She's voiced a number of other notable roles, including Tamaki from Fire Force, Tsuyu Asui (Froppy) from My Hero Academia, Tanya from Saga of Tanya the Evil, Tornado from One-Punch Man, Kayo from ERASED, Yuuki Konno from Sword Art Online II, and Hachiman's sister Komachi from My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU.
Amber (Manaka Iwami)
Tumblr media
  Image via Madman Entertainment
Amber is one of the game's most popular characters, owing to her cheerful and optimistic personality. She is voiced by Manaka Iwami, the voice of Teresa Wagner in Tada Never Falls in Love, Lykos in Children of the Whales, Mizuho in Wave, Listen to Me!, and Maquia in Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms.
Kaeya (Kohsuke Toriumi)
Tumblr media
The cool and charismatic Kaeya is, surprisingly enough, voiced by Kohsuke Toriumi, known as the voice of the hotheaded Kiba from Naruto. He has also voiced Shunsuke Imaizumi from Yowamushi Pedal, Mista from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, and Cecil from the Uta no Prince-sama franchise.
Lisa (Rie Tanaka)
Tumblr media
A lazy and flirtatious scholar with electrical powers, Lisa is voiced by the experienced Rie Tanaka, who one might easily recognize as Lacus Clyne from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. The gentle, "sisterly" voice of Lacus suits Lisa's personality to a T. Tanaka has also voiced Yomi from Azumanga Daioh, Chii from Chobits, Sammy from Time of Eve, Maria from Hayate the Combat Butler, Chizuru from Squid Girl, and Suiginto from Rozen Maiden.
Barbara (Akari Kito)
Tumblr media
The first Akari Kito role that catches the eye is her performance as Kotoko Iwanaga in In/Spectre; both she and Barbara have a near-identical dressing sense, with their frilly white frock and cap. Kito has also voiced Nezuko in Demon Slayer, Nene Yashiro in Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, Kaho Hinata in BLEND-S, and Suzune Horikita in Classroom of the Elite. You can also look forward to hearing her as Tsukasa in TONIKAWA and Adachi in Adachi and Shimamura this season.
Beidou (Ami Koshimizu)
Tumblr media
Beidou is voiced by Ami Koshimizu, voice of Ryuko from Kill la Kill and Kallen from Code Geass — two popular characters from two of the biggest shows of our times. Some of her other roles include Holo from Spice and Wolf, Tenma from School Rumble, Nodoka from Saki, and Shizuri from A Certain Scientific Railgun.
Bennett (Ryota Osaka)
Tumblr media
Bennett's design coupled with his "passionate" and "righteous" personality screams "protagonist" to me. And that's exactly what his voice actor Ryota Osaka delivers, being the voice of Eijun Sawamura from Ace of the Diamond, Nariyuki Yuiga from We Never Learn: BOKUBEN, and Ryu Yamada from Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches. His other roles include Zen Wistalia in Snow White with the Red Hair, Keiji Akaashi in Haikyu!!, Yuki Sanada in Tsuritama, Nagate in Knights of Sidonia, Ikki Kurogane in Chivalry of a Failed Knight, and Sadao Mao in The Devil is a Part-Timer!.
Chongyun (Soma Saito)
Tumblr media
Chongyun is voiced by Soma Saito, perhaps best known as Yamaguchi from Haikyu!!. However, his breakout performance was as young Twelve in Terror in Resonance. Other notable roles include Tatsumi from Akame ga Kill, Adlet Mayer from Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers, Doppio from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, and William James Moriarty from the currently-airing Moriarty the Patriot.
Diluc (Kensho Ono)
Tumblr media
Diluc is widely considered to be the best character in the game from a gameplay perspective. He is voiced by Kensho Ono, whose most famous voice performance is undoubtedly Giorno Giovanna, the protagonist of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind. Ono is also known for his performance as the titular Kuroko from Kuroko's Basketball. Other roles include Canute from Vinland Saga, Arata from ReLIFE, Mikazuki from My Roommate is a Cat, Slaine Troyard from Aldnoah.Zero, Tanaka from Tanaka-kun is Always Listless, and Akutagawa from Bungo Stray Dogs.
Fischl (Maaya Uchida)
Tumblr media
In what has to be the most on-point casting in this game, Maaya Uchida — best known as the voice of delusional eyepatch-wearing chunibyo (middle-schooler) Rikka from Love, Chunibyo, and Other Delusions — voices a delusional eyepatch-wearing chunibyo in Fischl. Well done, miHoYo, well done. She also voices Hiyori from Noragami, Norman from The Promised Neverland, Catarina Claes from My Next Life as a Villainess, Yoshioka from Blue Spring Ride, and Rui from Domestic Girlfriend.
Jean (Chiwa Saito)
Tumblr media
Chiwa Saito (the voice of Jean) went on to become one of my favorite voice actors after I heard her as Hitagi in Bakemonogatari, Yona in Yona of the Dawn, and Homura in Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Some of her other performances include Aika in Aria the Animation, Chloe von Einzbern in Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 2wei, and Schierke in 2016's Berserk.
Keqing (Eri Kitamura)
Tumblr media
The energetic and hardworking Keqing is played by Eri Kitamura, known for voicing such energetic characters as Mina Ashido in My Hero Academia, Yui in Angel Beats, and Sayaka in Puella Magi Madoka Magica. She also voices Ami in Toradora!, "Chief" Yachiyo in Wagnaria!!, and Bea in Pokemon: Twilight Wings.
Klee (Misaki Kuno)
Tumblr media
Klee has quickly become a fan favorite, partly due to her short stature and childlike demeanor. She is quite appropriately voiced by Misaki Kuno, known for voicing "childlike" characters such as Hawk from The Seven Deadly Sins, Momo Kawamoto from March Comes in Like a Lion, Shio from Happy Sugar Life, Serara from Log Horizon, Niko from Kiznaiver, and Akane from Durarara!! x2.
Mona (Konomi Kohara)
Tumblr media
Is it a coincidence that this game has both Aoi Koga AND Konomi Kohara (who voice Kaguya and Chika in Kaguya-sama: Love is War)? I think not. Kohara's other notable roles include Akane from Tsukigakirei, Kasumi from Asobi Asobase - workshop of fun -, Mina Hibino from Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san, Shamiko from The Demon Girl Next Door, and Tsukasa's sister Chitose from TONIKAWA.
Ningguang (Sayaka Ohara)
Tumblr media
Sayaka Ohara is known for her deep, "mature" voice — an apt fit for Ningguang. While Ohara's best-known voice role is probably as Erza Scarlet in the Fairy Tail series, she has also delivered iconic performances as Beatrice from the Umineko When They Cry visual novels and Yuuko in xxxHolic. Other well-known roles include Irisviel from Fate/Zero, Alice from Aria the Animation, Milly Ashford from Code Geass, and Mrs. Yuigahama (Gaha-mama) in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU.
Noelle (Kanon Takao)
Tumblr media
Kanon Takao has not done a whole lot of voice roles but there are still some recognizable titles on their resume, such as Hina Tsurugi from the recently-aired Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater, Latina from If It's for My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord, Aku from Demon Lord, Retry!, and Linnea from The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar.
Qiqi (Yukari Tamura)
Tumblr media
Qiqi is voiced by Yukari Tamura, who shot to fame as the voice of protagonist Nanoha Takamachi from the influential magical girl franchise Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. Her other significant voice roles are as Togame in Katanagatari, Tenten in Naruto, Rika Furude in When They Cry, Io Euclase in GRANBLUE FANTASY: The Animation, Mai Kawasumi in Kanon, Yamada in B Gata H Kei, and Jibril in No Game No Life.
Razor (Kouki Uchiyama)
Tumblr media
Kouki Uchiyama is known for his soft-spoken roles, especially villainous ones like Meruem from Hunter x Hunter, Shigaraki from My Hero Academia, and Rui from Demon Slayer. Even his non-villainous roles have that serious, soft-spoken nature to them — Tsukishima from Haikyu!!, Smile from Ping Pong the Animation, Natsuno from Shiki, Yu Otosaka from Charlotte, and Toi from Sarazanmai. He is a perfect fit for Razor, a menacing wolf-boy of few words.
Sucrose (Akane Fujita)
Tumblr media
Akane Fujita (the voice actor for curious bio-alchemist Sucrose) had her breakout year in 2017 when she played Sagiri Izumi in Eromanga Sensei and Sistine Fibel in Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor.
Venti (Ayumu Murase)
Tumblr media
Venti's naive and mischievous personality makes him the perfect fit for Ayumu Murase, best known as the voice of the cheerful and simpleminded Shoyo Hinata of Haikyu!! fame. What interests me most, however, is the fact that Murase also voiced protagonist Kazuki from Sarazanmai — between Venti, Razor, and the male Traveler, it looks like we have the entire Sarazanmai main trio assembled! Murase has also voiced Shun in From the New World, Iruma in Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun, and Ryo Asuka in Devilman Crybaby.
Xiangling (Ari Ozawa)
Tumblr media
I was very excited to hear that Xiangling would be voiced by Ari Ozawa, whose performance as Chiyo Sakura in Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun (her first major role) is one of the finest I have ever seen. Ozawa has also voiced Hina Hikawa in BanG Dream! S2, Kirin Todo in The Asterisk War, Mao in Hinamatsuri, Papi in Monster Musume: Everyday Life With Monster Girls, Benitoite in Land of the Lustrous, Lynn May in Plunderer, and Conny in The Promised Neverland.
Xingqiu (Junko Minagawa)
Tumblr media
It is quite common in the voice acting industry for male characters, especially younger ones, to be voiced by female VAs. Such is the case with refined bookworm Xingqiu. This is not the first time Junko Minagawa has voiced a male character — her first role came as Ryoma Echizen from the long-running The Prince of Tennis. Her other roles include Oz Vessalius in PandoraHearts, Cornelia in Code Geass, Sailor Uranus in Sailor Moon Crystal, and Jeanne d'Arc in Drifters.
As more characters are added to the game, we can expect more talented voice work from the people behind the scenes. Further updates have teased us with the possibility of such giants as Saori Hayami and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka joining the cast. Can't wait!

books i’ve read and what i thought of them
In no particular order. The rating is purely my opinion, often with little to back it up. Sometimes you like a story, sometimes you don’t. Many of these are from a while back so i don’t recall details just....vibes, y’know?
The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison |★★★| A court drama but with  goblins and elves. Surprisingly interesting, and a satisfying standalone.
American Elsewhere by Robert Jackson Bennett |★★★| The kind of weird I love in a podcast, in a novel. Tasty.
The Raven Tower by Ann Leckie  |★★★★ The only book on this list with a rock as the main character. It’s amazing.
Machineries of Empire series by Yoon Ha Lee  |★★★| Docking a star because the first book took a while to get the hang of; treat the formations like magic spells and you’ve got it. Good characters, good representation, good fun.
Rolling in the Deep by Mira Grant  |★★★| Jurassic park with mermaids.
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon |★★|  If this had been split up into several books, it may have been bearable. It’s a nice world, but I got bored.
The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling |★★★| Cave diving on an alien planet, and there’s something down there. Gay.
A Dead Djinn in Cairo/ The Haunting of Tram Car 015 by P. Djélì Clark |★★★★| Stupendous short reads. I need 10 more in this world.
Smoke and Summons by Charlie N. Holmberg |★|  It’s trying to be something, but doesn’t quite make it. I read the whole trilogy, but it was a struggle. Horribly straight.
The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins  |★★★| I’d liken this one to American Elsewhere, but weirder. Are they gods? Maybe. Is it a wild good read? Yes.
The Devourers by Indra Das  |★★| Too sexual for me, but otherwise good. Werewolves, of a sort. Made me want to draw.
The Wolf in the Whale by Jordanna Max Brodsky  |★★| Got a bit dull, but the only book of it’s kind I’ve read. Inuk gods vs norse. Nonbinary MC.Has the worst cover art of any on this list.
A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine  |★★★| A political thriller in a space-Aztec empire. Yes it’s fun, and if you don’t laugh at Thirty-Six All-Terrain Tundra Vehicle you’re wrong.
Gideon the Ninth by Tamsin Muir  |★★| The titular character feels drawn in a different style than everyone else. Maybe you’ll like that? Lots of skeletons, but not judiciously used.
A Big Ship at the Edge of the Universe by Alex White  |★★★| I was having too much fun with this series to tell if it were actually well-written. Please get magic in my sci-fi.
The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow |★★★| I listened to this bc I accidentally used an audible credit. Wasn’t mad about it.
Tooth and Claw by Jo Walton |★★★| A period drama with dragons, played straight as a ruler, and therefor hilarious.
Last Days by Brian Evenson |★★| Look this book isn’t bad and probably deserves more stars but it IS about infiltrating an amputation cult.
The Tensorate series by Jy Yang |★★★★| Another world of novellas that I need more of. Silkpunk. Queer rep. Magic. Raptors. Dragons. It’s got it all.
One of Us by Craig DiLouie |★★| This book is equally parts sad and fucked up. X-Men but horrible. A kid eats his dad. His dad only kinda deserved it.
The Wonder Engine by T. Kingfisher |★| One of the straightest books on this list and also boring for other reasons.
The Black God’s Drums by P. Djélì Clark |★★★★| Clark has another immersive novella that needs more. Seriously, such a small taste is cruelty. Savor it.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab |★| There are gay characters but still manages to be painfully straight. Written like a fanfic. The MC reminisces in purple prose about things that happen 10 minutes ago. I want to slap her.
Beneath the Rising by Premee Mohamed |★★| This is a three-star story but I’m docking one bc an octopus was murdered.
The Masquerade series by Seth Dickinson  |★★★★★| hey these are my favorite books now soooooooo. read them. read. them. A girl's island is colonized so she vows to destroy the empire by becoming the world's most dangerous accountant.

Music Tag
I was tagged by @even-after-a-millennia to do this.  Thank you friend!!
Rules: you can usually tell a lot about a person by the type of music they listen to! put your favorite playlist on shuffle and list the first 10 songs, then tag 10 people. no skipping!
I went with my “current hyperfixation list“, which is basically just a series of playlists I keep adding stuff to and listen to for weeks on end until it starts getting overrun with songs I am getting tired of and make a new one, typically named by the day of the week it was made or the month of the year, or whatever button mash I wind up with. (This one is just called “Sunday” and it’s been my main for over a month now, cause it was made November 1st)
1. Midnight Riot - Whale and the Wolf
2. Achilles Come Down - Gang of Youths
3. Zen - X Ambassadors, grandson, K.Flay
4. Great Big Storm - Nate Ruess
5. Dear McCraken - Bug Hunter
6. Machine - Imagine Dragons
7. Fred Astaire - Jukebox the Ghost
8. The Village - Wrabel
9. TRACER - Stephen
10. The End / Undead - Zero 9:36, Hollywood Undead
My brain isn’t being kind to me today, so I’m not going to tag anyone directly but if you’d like to do this, please do and tag me!! Especially if I usually tag you in these, but anyone who wants to can do this.

Tumblr media
"Crowley, are you sure? I really don't want to be a bother," you mumbled. He scoffed and shook his head. He tucked one of the bags he was holding under his arm, allowing himself to better talk with his hand.
"You'll only be a bother if you trash the place. Or be nice to my plants." Crowley paused. He pointed at you before giving you a stern look. "Don't be nice to them. They don't deserve it." You snorted, assuming he was joking. He opened the door to his apartment and motioned you in. You followed him inside, marveling at the place. Everything was spic and span, totally immaculate.
"Beautiful place you've got," you complimented. The tiniest smile crossed Crowley's lips.
His apartment didn't obey the normal laws of physics. It was a bit like the Tardis. The inside made the outside look unbelievable. Crowley was able to change bits of it as he pleased. In this case, he was able to add on an extra bedroom just for you. He set the bags he was carrying on the foot of the bed, glancing around the room before nodding in approval. He always considered himself good at interior design, though he'd never tell anyone that. "A friend of mine is bringing some dinner by. I just ordered some takeout, hope you don't mind." When you shook your head, he continued, "Good. Now, the entire place is soundproofed, so you can vent... or scream... or cry... or whatever it is people do after a heartbreak."
"Thank you, Crowley. I really appreciate it." He nodded and sauntered out of the room, leaving you to unpack your belongings.
You were changing into some more comfortable clothes when you heard muffled voices from the other side of the bedroom door. The rational, mature part of your mind told you that it would be rude to eavesdrop, but the curious, monkey side of your brain kept chanting about how you should listen in. It's not difficult to understand which side won. You pressed your ear against the door, straining to catch some of their conversation.
"...doing is nice, Crowley."
"Oh, shut up."
"You know, if you could whip up a whole new room, you could have miricaled a couch. Or at least another chair or two." Your brows furrowed. Miracles?
"Well, I wasn't thinking about that, Aziraphale. I've never had someone else stay here before!"
"Lucky for you, I have an idea since it'd be too obvious to add any new furniture at this point... Bean bags!"
"No. Absolutely not. I will not allow those abominations in my flat." You bit your lip to keep yourself from laughing. As much as you wanted to stay in hiding and hear where the conversation would go next, your stomach's demonstration of whale noises reminded you that that was not an option. You slowly pulled the door open, poking your head out and glancing around. Crowley had his back to you, but the newcomer caught sight of you from over Crowley's shoulder. He flashed you a bright smile. At the time, you didn't know him very well, but you recognized him from his occasional visits to Crowley's. His fluffy hair and out of date clothing choices made him hard to forget.
"Hello, my dear. It's wonderful to see you, though I wish it were under better circumstances," Aziraphale hummed as he approached you. He pulled you into an embrace. Normally, you wouldn't want a person you hardly knew to touch you, but Aziraphale was like a ball of sunshine. He was incredibly comforting, something which you desperately needed at the moment. "Come along, let's get you something to eat before the food gets cold!"
The three of you divvied out the takeout. Crowley led you into what you assumed was his office slash living room, which hardly had any furniture in it at all. You and Aziraphale plopped onto two beanbags, and Crowley sprawled across a chair that looked more like a throne. He turned on the television, and Aziraphale raised a brow at him when Golden Girls came across the screen. "Again? My boy, how many times have you watched this series?" Crowley threw his arms up dramatically.
"It's not like I choose it every time! The TV has a mind of its own. And besides, it's a good show."
"You can't use that excuse for everything, Crowley. You're starting to turn into the boy who cried wolf." The red-head scoffed at the notion.
"Please, Aziraphale," he scoffed before turning to look at you, "What do you think about Golden Girls?"
"I've heard the name, but I've never actually seen it before." Crowley's eyebrows shot up as his posture went rigid.
"Never? Here I was, thinking you were a person of sensible taste. This must be fixed immediately." He pressed a button on the remote, flipping through the channels until he found one playing the very first episode. Aziraphale sighed and sank further into the bean bag chair. He shoveled the yellow rice into his mouth as Crowley animatedly explained to you the wonderful show that is Golden Girls.
At first, the plan was to stay at Crowley's until you were able to get back on your feet and find a place of your own. But with only a part-time job and a child on the way, you weren't sure how you were going to afford it. Aziraphale could sense your growing anxiety and suggested you stay with one of them until you felt ready to move out. You gladly accepted the invitation, having grown close to them since you first moved in. The three of you had spent many nights drinking non-alcoholic beverages and binging Golden Girls, and you always enjoyed popping into Aziraphale's bookshop. It took a lot of convincing, but you finally managed to get him to help you organize the mess of books that were piled around. The more time you spent around them, the more you realized that they weren't so human. I mean, they weren't exactly hiding it. It's a miracle more people didn't put it together.
Aziraphale thought it would be a good idea to check up on Adam. They couldn't just leave him completely alone, him being the anti-christ and all. So the three of you piled into the Bentley and made your way to Tadfield. You and your rather large belly took up a majority of the backseat. Traffic was terrible, as usual, but you made it through with the help of one of your favorite snacks at the moment-- a sauerkraut sandwich. Just two pieces of bread with sauerkraut in between. It grossed out Aziraphale and Crowley, but they knew better than to face the wrath of a pregnant person... especially after they saw how your emotions constantly changed. One moment you were crying over not being able to open a pickle jar by yourself, and the next you were screaming at your phone for charging too slow. Needless to say, they were afraid of being the target of your mood swings.
Crowley led the way through Hogback Wood, while you and Aziraphale walked arm-in-arm behind him. "Please be careful with our lunch, dear." The angel grimaced every time the wicker basket was swung.
"Calm down, Aziraphale. Nothings going to happen to the food," Crowley groaned, "Their hideout is right down here. They'll probably be playing with prop swords or whatnot." You could hear the group of children shouting. Sure enough, they came into view and were swinging long sticks at each other. A boy with brown, curly locked pointed his stick toward you all.
"Halt! Who goes there?"
"Sir Crowley Hellion, accompanied by Lord Aziraphale Inamorato. We brought along our guest, the kind (Y/F/N)." The demon and angel bowed, playing along with the game. You, on the other hand, were too hot and had too big of a belly to be doing such. Instead, you just waved at them. The rest of the group of children appeared, all eyeing the three of you suspiciously.
"What's in the basket?" a boy with dirt all over his face asked. Crowley held up the basket in question, raising a brow.
"Sandwiches."
"For all of us?"
"Yup."
"Did they make 'em?" He pointed his stick towards you. Aziraphale shook his head.
"No, I did." All of the children seemed relieved by this.
"Good. I heard pregnant people like to eat weird stuff on their sandwiches." They all gathered around Crowley as he handed one to each of them.
"You're telling me," he muttered under his breath. Which, thanks so your pregnant superhuman capabilities, didn't escape your hearing.
"Sorry, Crowley, what was that?" The demon froze like a deer caught in headlights. He stuttered for a moment, trying to come up with something clever and not insulting to say. You laughed and pat him on the shoulder. "Calm down! I'm just teasing. Now, hand me one of those sandwiches so I can go sit down. My back is killing me."
Everyone gathered near their fort and ate lunch. You were beginning to have stomach pains, but you blamed it on the sauerkraut combined with all the walking you did. The Them, as you learned they were called, explained the game they were playing. Adam was playing as Henry VIII, Brian and Wensleydale were guards, and Pepper was one of his many wives to be beheaded. The twist? She fought back, not wanting to come to her untimely end just because she was unable to bear a son. "So, what're you having?" Pepper asked.
"A girl," you answered fondly. Three of the Them smiled and congratulated you, but Adam leaned back and sighed.
"Sorry, guess that means you'll have to be beheaded." The children all started giggling, and Crowley snorted. You grimaced, putting a hand on your stomach. Aziraphale watched you worriedly. He placed a gentle hand on your arm.
"Are you alright?" Adam's brows knit together.
"I was just joking. We're not really beheading you." You waved him off.
"Don't worry about it, love. Just having a spell of contractions is all." Crowley leaned forward. Worry filled his features.
"Is the baby coming? Already? Should we leave?" You laughed before grimacing again.
"No, I don't think she's coming yet. I'm not due for another three weeks. But I think it probably is a good idea to head back."
The two helped you back to the Bentley, with the Them trailing behind out of curiosity. Thankfully, you didn't have to walk terribly far. Crowley had managed to park nearby just in case of a moment like this. You all piled into the car and waved the children goodbye. Crowley peeled out of  Tadfield, causing Aziraphale to look even more concerned. As you got closer to London, the traffic worsened and so did your contractions. The three of you were sitting in a standstill, and you were groaning in pain in the backseat.
"You know, we've got car parks everywhere... McDonald's, supermarkets, stadiums... the fucking M25!" Crowley screeched, gripping the steering wheel and shaking himself back and forth.
"Crowley! Your screaming is not helping!" Aziraphale huffed.
"Could the both of you please shut up so I can focus on not imploding?" Concern settled deeper into Aziraphale's features, and a hiss escaped Crowley's lips.
"I think we're running out of time," the angel whispered. "We need a miracle." Crowley gave him a look, and Aziraphale nodded. The demon sighed, taking the angel's hand in his own. Reality seemed to warble around the Bentley, which caused you to feel even worse. You ended up hurling, and Crowley let out a string of swears at the sight. "Look! We're at the hospital. Let's get them taken care of before we worry about a perfectly cleanable mess, hm?"
"Fine, but you better be naming this kid after me for all I've been through!"
The two helped you inside to get taken care of, and they were with you for every step of the way. Several hours later, you held your daughter in your arms. She clutched onto Aziraphale's finger, causing him to smile wider than you had ever seen before. Crowley stood behind the angel, trying to look like he wasn't paying much attention and clearly failing. You offered to let him hold the baby, and he accepted without a moment of hesitation. As you watched him carefully cradle the little girl in his arms, you figured this would be the perfect moment to propose the idea you've been harboring for the past month. "I've been thinking about how much you guys have helped me. I don't know where I would be if it wasn't for you two. So, I was wondering if maybe the both of you would like to make our little family official by being the godfathers?" Aziraphale gasped, eyes widening. He excitedly looked to Crowley.
"Oh, my dear! Did you hear that? Us... godfathers!" Crowley didn't reply. He just froze for a moment. A tinge of worry went through you. You didn't even consider the possibility of him not wanting to be a godfather. You and Aziraphale shared a look before continuing to stare at Crowley.
"Ngk," he sniffled, "don't look at me. Here, angel, take the kid." Crowley passed the baby off to Aziraphale before furiously rubbing his eyes. You sat up a little more.
"Are you... crying!"
"No!" he said with a defensive hiss. "Okay, maybe I am... just a little... You seriously want me to be a godfather? I can understand him. He's a literal angel, but I'm a demon why would you want me?" You sighed, leaning back into the pillows.
"Crowley, you were the one who was there for me when I needed someone, and you were the one who took me in when I had nowhere to go. Of course, I want you to be my daughter's godfather. I couldn't think of anyone else."
The demon sniffled for a few more minutes before finally composing himself. He watched the infant be placed in the bassinette and smiled. A true, genuine smile. Crowley gently touched the baby's cheek, leaning closer. "Don't worry. I'll try to be a good godfather. If it's the last thing I do, I'll make sure you have a good life, okay?"

“Ready?” Lexi waits for confirmation before picking up a shot of tequila and tipping it back. You both gulp down your respective drinks and suck on limes in tandem as Tim pounds on the bar enthusiastically. You shake your head, puckering at the after taste and shouting a little hoot.
“Fuck, I’m too Goddamn old for tequila shots,” you laugh.
“Come on, meemaw.” Lexi laughs throwing an arm over your shoulders. “You gotta live a little.”
“She’s right.” Leaning in, Tim tips back a swig of cognac. “Life is short, we all need to let go a lot more.”
“Yes, yes we do,” Millie chimes in, throwing back her chardonnay.
“I’m trying.” You watch them, the crowd milling around the bar on a weeknight.
This started out as a Tuesday night survivor support group, but over several months it’s evolved into a much-needed space to blow off steam. Last week it was an evening at the arboretum at Harvard University, tonight it’s shots and gossip at a local dive bar.
“Are you coming back to work?” you ask Tim.
“Yeah. Soon I think, Winchester said I could take another six months if I wanted, but my therapist thinks I’m ready. Who am I to argue with a trained professional.” He taps the rim of his glass and the bartender refills it.
“Hey, as long as you’re ready we’re happy to have you back.” Millie smiles, inching a little closer. You suspect she likes Tim, she won’t come out and admit it but she finds a way to bring him up in nearly every conversation.
If it wasn’t for a limp on his right side, no one would ever know he’d been shot. But there was nerve damage that will most likely never be corrected so he’s stuck with a permanent reminder.
“I don’t think I can spend any more time in my apartment without going crazy. Trauma or not, all this paid time off has been incredible.” Tim’s forever positive. He can see the bright side of anything.
“Me too,” Millie throws up a fist in solidarity. “I can’t believe you went back so soon.” She looks at you.
“Working helps me keep my mind off things. I was glad to go back. And I like the new building.”
“And the new office,” Millie grins, elbowing you. “She’s a hotshot now.”
“I’ll have to go check it out,” Tim confirms. “And the new boss, how’s he?”
“Honestly? A dream,” you gush, always happy to talk about your new position. “After working for Pepper I had this distorted image of a healthy work-life balance, but Cole is awesome.”
“He’s not bad to look at either,” Lexi pipes up, fishing a cherry from the bottom of her empty glass.
“He’s all yours.” You wiggle your eyebrows at her. “I’m just happy he’s not a psychopath. Speaking of which, any idea when Pepper is coming back?”
“No, and we’re not in a hurry,” Lexi snorts, rolling her eyes. “Life is so much easier without her.”
“Easier but painfully unorganized,” Millie explains. “She’s a bitch but I don’t think we realized how much she truly did until she was gone. To be honest, the whole department is a hot mess right now. We’ve got associates with three assistants assigned to them and associates without anyone.”
“Give and take with everything, I suppose.” Checking your watch you frown when you realize it’s nearly ten. You have to work early tomorrow and time flies whenever you’re with these three.
“Did you read about Winchester?” Tim sing-songs like he’s about to dish out a juicy piece of gossip. “Any idea who the mystery girlfriend is?”
Your cheeks bloom bright red, trying to act natural.
“Please,” Lexi looks disgusted, still raw that he turned her down. Not that it’s stopped her from hinting at the fact that they had some sort of tawdry affair. “I feel bad for whoever it is.”
“Why?” Millie scoffs. “He’s super-rich, he can get whatever he wants. I know women who put up with a lot more for a lot less. And we don’t even know that it’s a woman. Maybe he’s gay. You never know.”
“No way,” Tim shakes his head no. “I guarantee you it’s some model or actress. The guy has Leonardo DiCaprio syndrome.”
“What does that mean?” you ask.
“You know, only dates women fifteen years younger than him that look good in bikinis.”
“Don’t you think,” you start, turning your chair to face him. “That if he was really that much a playboy someone would have found out by now?”
“He came on to me,” Lexi inserts her made-up encounter.
“See,” Tim gestures toward her.
You sigh, trying to contain your amusement at the speculation. Lexi’s wild tales don’t even bother you anymore, you see her for what she is. Mindless and starving for attention.
“I think it’s someone at W & S.” Millie finishes her drink. “The guy works all the time, when would he even have time to meet someone? Watch, one day we’ll find it’s Pepper or that redhead from human resources that looks like a Victoria Secret model.”
“Maybe we’ll find out someday, maybe not.” You tip back the rest of your vodka and cranberry and dig through your purse for cash. “I gotta go to bed.”
“Me too,” Millie pats your shoulder “We can share an Uber.”
“I got you.” Tim lays a hundred on the counter. “I’m happy to pick up the tab for tonight. I look forward to Tuesday’s all week. You guys keep me sane.”
“You are seriously the best,” you give him a quick hug and turn to Lexi, kissing her on the cheek. “See you later.”
-
You’re completely lost in a YouTube video about the migratory patterns of whales when there’s a knock at your office door. Before you have the chance to shut down the browser the door opens and Sam slips inside.
“Hey,” you light up. “What are you doing here?”
“You weren’t answering your phone, which usually means you’re working.” He points toward the computer screen. “Or not.”
“I went down the youtube rabbit hole.” You laugh, shaking your head. “I swear, this whole thing started with five tips on how to work with difficult people and…” you glance at the clock, shocked that it’s nearly midnight. “And three hours later I’m here, learning about baleen whales and infrasound.”
“Is that really why you’re here so late?” He perches on the edge of your desk, fingering a pen.
“Honestly, I didn’t realize it was this late. Time got away from me.” You watch him examine your office, taking in all the details before refocusing on you. “Did we have plans tonight?”
“No,” he rests a hand on his thigh. “But I was thinking about dropping by your place. Taking you up on that offer for frozen pizza.”
Checking your phone you find a missed text and phone call. “Shit, I would really have enjoyed that. It’s too late now, huh?”
“Probably.” He tilts his head, eyes dropping from your mouth to your neck, then lower. “I’ll take a raincheck.”
“You know,” rocking back the chair, you bite your bottom lip playfully. “This look you’re giving me right now is exactly what Cole was talking about.”
“What look is that?” There’s a trace of a smile, his eyes narrowing at the suggestion of impropriety.
“Like I’m little red riding hood and you’re the wolf.” You toe off one shoe, then the other before standing, and sauntering closer to him. “Should we be alone together? I’m not sure I can trust you.”
“That’s a good point,” he grins, standing up himself and placing both hands on your hips. “I came to your office late at night when no one else is around. I closed the door. Predatory behavior.”
Sam pushes you backward until your butt is against the edge of the desk and he’s looming above you.
You blink twice, eyes going wide in mock innocence. “Is there something I can help you with Mr. Winchester?”
He’s not always in a playful mood, but tonight finds you both in exactly the right time and place to have a bit of fun. Sam’s fingers squeeze tighter, curling into the flesh of your side and then releases his hold, standing close enough you can practically feel his body heat.
“I’m not entirely convinced this is the job for you,” he sighs, giving you a dismissive shake of his head. “Not sure you really want this position.”
“Oh, I want it,” you whisper chin tipped upward as you stare at him dewy-eyed. “What can I do to show you how serious I am?”
“I have a few ideas,” he offers, honing in on your parted lips as he licks his own. “You may have to work for it.”
“I’d do anything. Please, give me a chance.” You’re already breathless as his fingers caress the skin on the outside of your thigh, just above your knee. “Tell me what I need to do?”
“Spread your legs for me.” He tips his head to the side, watching your carefully curated shocked expression.
“Mr. Winchester,” you gasp, mouth falling open in faux horror as your knees open wide, skirt riding up your thighs. “We can’t…”
“Then tell me to stop,” he raises one eyebrow, hand sliding up the side of your leg and disappearing under your skirt. You lock eyes as he swirls the pads of his finger at tender flesh near your heat, so teasingly close that a moan falls out of your mouth before he ever really touches you.
“You have to stop,” you whimper, looking him dead in the eyes, spreading your thighs further and canting your hips toward his hand. “This is wrong.” You wiggle closer to his elusive touch. “I’ll tell someone, I’ll turn you in.”
“You think anyone would believe you?” He taunts while his thumb grazes downward, just the tip slipping between the lips of your bare cunt. He sinks an inch into your slick before sliding upward to find the throbbing bud. “What would you tell them? You were this wet but you didn’t want it?”
“Fuck,” you hiss, long and low. Your eyes screw shut as he flicks up and down over your clit, two fingers stroking into trembling flesh. He plays with soft, long strokes before finally sinking his fingers into your pussy, twisting them all the way in up to his knuckles. “Oh, God.”
Your head falls lax, hands reaching backward for anything to grab onto as a framed photo of your parents tumbles to the floor.
“You said you’d do anything to keep your job,” he leans over you, whispering hot breath at the shell of your ear. “Did you mean it?”
“Yes,” you whine, nodding emphatically as his fingers thrust in and out of your cunt, the wet, squelching sound bouncing off the walls. “Anything.”
“Will you take my cock...here?” He grunts, hooking his fingers inside and you see stars, legs trembling at the overwhelming pleasure. “Let me cum inside you?”
“Yes!” This confirmation is met with the withdrawal of his hand from between your legs. The disappointment is short-lived as he spins you around, bending you over the desk and hiking your skirt up over your ass.
“Say please,” he insists, his hand coming down on your right cheek with a smack.
“Please, I’ll do anything!” Wiggling your stinging backside there's the zip of his pants and the rustle of clothes before the head of his cock is at your entrance. Looking forward you can see the garbled reflection of the two of you in the glass of a painting on your wall. While you haven’t exactly pre-planned this little escapade, your fantasies are generally in line with each other, so you add in a few elements that really get you worked up. “You’re not going to put on a condom?”
The question gives him pause, the suggestion settling in as he notches the head into your throbbing channel. The idea of being forced, or in this case coerced, into a man cumming inside you is something you’ve shared with him but it’s not yet worked its way into the bedroom.
“If you want to keep your job, you’ll shut up and open this sweet little cunt.” His hand twists into your hair as he slides deep, not stopping until you feel his hips at your backside. “There you go, just like that. You like the way my cock feels, don’t you?”
“It’s so deep,” you pant, the side of your face pressed into some report from earlier in the afternoon.
“Now,” he slaps your ass as he pulls out and thrusts back inside. He repeats the motion with another whack that pulls a moan out of your throat. “I want you to tell me how much you want it. Say please Mr. Winchester, cum in my pussy.”
“I can’t,” you put up a show. “You can’t-”
He yanks your hair back, pulling your face off the desk as he drills into your cunt. “Say it.”
“Please!” you cry out, hands digging into the hardwood of the desk. “Please Mr. Winchester, please cum in my pussy.”
“Again,” he grits, fucking you hard and fast.
“Please cum in my pussy. Please, I want it so bad.”
“I know you do.” He purrs, using his free hand to press down on your lower back, keeping you in place as his pace grows faster still, hammering into you.
You're close to orgasm, the way he has you bent over the desk means your clit is rubbing over the surface, creating perfect friction. You pant and moan, body winding up for the release as the fantasy culminates in his cock stroking hard and deep with every thrust of his hips.
“Can I cum, Mr. Wincester!” You hold back waiting for permission.
“No,” he spits out, the hand on your back wrapping around your throat. “Don’t you dare, don’t you dare even think about it.”
“Shit,” you sputter, sending your mind somewhere else. It’s the only way to hold back when you're teetering on the edge. You hope he’ll cum soon because you can’t hold out much longer and right on cue he grinds forward, pressing into your thighs with all his weight as he cums. Breathing hot and heavy, he slowly pulls out, sending a gush of his wet and warm release down your thighs.
But Sam’s not done yet.
“Turn around,” he commands.
Standing on shaking legs you turn to face him. He tucks his shiny dick back into his underwear and gets his clothes back in place as you stand there with his seed dripping from your sex.
“You almost came, didn’t you?” He snakes closer, a hand threading back into your hair to hold you in place. “I could feel it, feel how tight your pussy got at the end.”
“Yes,” you nod, looking up at him as his hand snakes back between your legs.
“I guess I’ll let you keep your job.” A villainous grin tugs at the corners of his mouth and your entire body responds, shaking with desire. “But I have to be sure you’ll never tell anyone.”
“I won’t,” you promise.
“I have to be sure. And do you know how I do that?” He asks and you shake your head, no. “I’m sure you wouldn’t want to recount how wet you were. How you asked me to cum inside you. Only someone who was willing would ask for that. But you’re going to ask me something else, too.”
“What?” You’re practically vibrating with anticipation.
“Say, I want to taste you.”
You blink, getting a vague idea of where this is going.
“I want to taste you,” you repeat quietly.
“Please stick your fingers in my pussy.”
Oh fuck.
“Please stick your fingers in my pussy...so I can have them in my mouth.” You add the last part and before it even leaves your mouth Sam is nodding in approval.
“Good girl,” he praises. His index and middle finger slip easily into your used cunt, twirling and bending until he’s coated in a mix of your arousal and his seed. “Open up.”
You dutifully let your mouth fall open as he slides his finger over your tongue.
“Open your eyes and look at me.” He instructs. You look up, watching as he moves his fingers back and forth over your tongue. “Now suck.”
You whimper, empty pussy clenching around nothing as you suck the spiced taste of your sex off him. After a few minutes of massaging your tongue, he removes his hand only to have his fingers wiggle back into your pussy, pressing inside as far as he can get.
“Now, you’re going to show me just how much of a whore you really are,” he explains calmly, pumping in and out of your slit. “Open your mouth again.”
You open up and this time his wet, warm fingers stroke over your tongue a couple of times before wiggling further, toward the back of your throat. You gag and he tsks, stilling his hand until you compose yourself and then pressing further and further until you’re practically choking on his knuckles.
Out of nowhere, his other hand is between your legs, finding your clit and pinching the delicate nub with enough force to make you gasp, his finger sliding even deeper. He rubs your clit a few times before you cum, gargling and moaning around his fingers and fighting to stay upright. Your cunt clenches, eyes watering, entire body experiencing the incredible pleasure, wave after wave of sweet relief.
“Fuck,” Sam whispers, slowly withdrawing his hand from your mouth. He wipes off his fingers on your cheek as you gasp for a full breath, still twitching from the release. He watches you trembling, letting out a little chuckle designed to stoke all levels of sexual humiliation that you know and love so well. “You just came gagging on the taste of your own cunt. No one would ever believe you didn’t want this.”
You’re breathless, entire body flushed from the power of the orgasm and now his taunting little speech. God, you wish it was a weekend so you could go home and ride him into the mattress.
“Thank you,” your voice wavers. “Thank you for allowing me the chance to show you how grateful I am for this job...Mr. Winchester.”
“I have a feeling you’ll continue to work hard for me.” He smiles, leaning down to kiss your lips.
“Really, thank you. This was incredible.” You grin against his mouth. “This could become a whole fantasy for me.”
“Me too.”
He watches you clean yourself up, throwing used Kleenex into the trash before pulling yourself together enough to make the walk out of the building.
“I’ll drop you off,” he offers as you gather up your laptop and bag. “Or you could just come over. It’s late, that might make the most sense.”
“I’d love a ride but I can’t come over. I do need to go home tonight,” you explain. “I have a new dress I want to wear for the presentation tomorrow and I need to clean my kitchen. Maybe you could come over tomorrow? I’d like you to see my place.”
“I’d like that.”
Sam waits as you turn off the lights and lock up, then escorts you toward the elevators, both of you blissfully unaware of Cole watching through the cracked door of his darkened office.

Dystopian Crossovers
A multi-fandom, multi-pairing crossover of Supernatural, Star Trek TNG, DS9, VOY, X-files, Buffy, and the Hobbit movie verse.
These are the one-shot, two-shot, short multi-chapter adventures of the small San Francisco colony of humans. After a major disaster in the 24th century, a temporal distortion occurred which destroyed Earth in the 24th century. It also fractured other dimensions such as Middle Earth causing contamination on a colossal scale.
The disaster is thought to have been caused by experiments with the omega molecule but no one could be certain. It’s also a coincidence that at the same time, dark magic on middle earth and meddling in the natural environment by a group of rogue angels and demons in the 21st century may have added to the disaster.
Whatever the cause, Earth is now a wasteland. The setting is 2018 San Francisco after the eruption of three super volcanoes (Yellowstone, Toba, and Taupo), a nuclear explosion in DC, London, and Los Angeles, and a comet strike in the middle of the Atlantic have led to a complete wasteland.
Note: there are some controversial, rare-pair and completely made up pairings and ships below. If you aren’t prepared to have an open mind, or if you plan on sending me hate of any kind, do not continue. Also note this is very, very long.
The Characters and ships
So these characters and ships are my absolute OTPs in all my favorite shows. With the exception of one crossover pairing and a few others, these are pairings which I have been into since I first saw the shows. This is especially true where Star Trek is concerned because starting with TNG, I was a trekkie since I was 3 years old. Yes, I know they are all M/F or F/M but that isn’t relevant. This is really because these are the ships that I like all in one spot. In short, this collection of stories is all about me, myself, and I. These are my all time favorite OTPs and it really comes down to personal preference: my personal preference. And because there are so many characters I had to limit it to my absolute favorites in each show.
And yes there are so many other characters I would have loved to add in here and are certainly not forgotten but I am only one person and there are a lot of characters as it is so lots of characters just didn’t make the cut. If there were 10 of me then a lot more characters and a lot more variety of m/f, f/f, and m/m pairings would be possible but there aren’t 10 of me so it is what it is.
So here are the ships:
Tumblr media
Janeway and Chakotay from Star Trek: Voyager
Picard and Crusher from Star Trek: The Next Generation
Kira and Odo from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Dean and Jo from Supernatural
Sam and Eileen from Supernatural
Crowley and Meg from Supernatural
Castiel and Hannah from Supernatural
Buffy and Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Willow and Charlie from Buffy and Supernatural
Fili and my OC Brenna from the Hobbit movie verse
Kili and my OC Asphodel from the Hobbit Movie verse
Mulder and Scully from X-files
If you request to do your own one-shots using this verse, you are welcomed to add whatever additional characters and ships you want, including OCs, but the above pairings are non-negotiable.
Also, writings for this story will be rare because again, I am only one person and when I feel inspired to write something, I will. And I won’t be going in order so there will be seasons and it will all be labeled as to what season.
Here’s the backstory for each series. Note that timelines will conflict so for character ages, refer to the seasons I have them in:
Star Trek Voyager
Takes place in season 6/7 right after the events of Unimatrix Zero
Kathryn Janeway was recovering from her experience with the Borg and being assimilated. She’d been taking a few days shore leave in the holodeck and Chakotay had joined her for a pleasant evening in Tuscany. They were having dinner when the disaster occurred and they were transported to Earth in 2018. When they arrived, they found the planet in ruin.
Star Trek Deep Space Nine
Takes place in season 5 / 6 during the battle with the Dominion
As Starfleet and the Klingons, led by the USS. Defiant, were trying to retake DS9 from the occupying dominion. Kira and Odo, their relationship strained from the events with the female shapeshifter, were trying to defend the station when they were transported to Earth in 2018.
Star Trek The Next Generation
Takes place in season 3 / 4 right after the battle of Wolf 359.
Dr. Crusher meets up with Captain Picard shortly after the events that made him Locutus. He was showing her around his brother’s vineyard in France, introducing her to his brother when the accident occurred and sent them to Earth 2018.
Supernatural
Takes place in Season 5 shortly before the accident with the hellhounds.
Instead of hellhounds, Lucifer decides to go with a new plan. Destroy the planet naturally. With a snap of his fingers, three Super volcanoes become active. Sam and Dean have only a few precious hours before their world is changed forever. First Yellowstone, then Toba in Indonesia, then Taupo in New Zealand. One by one, these volcanoes erupt, causing massive destruction, global economies to collapse, and civilization to be reduced to anarchy. Within a few short months, after terrorist organizations take advantage of the situation by dropping nuclear bombs on Washington DC and London.
In retaliation for what Lucifer did, Michael launched an asteroid at Earth, the impact in the middle of the Atlantic caused devastating tsunamis in Africa and South America.
The planet is now locked in a seemingly eternal ice age caused by the triple effect of a volcanic winter and an impact winter.

Seasons
Yes, I am taking prompt requests, PM me for requests. Also, I am willing to work with any number of authors and artists who are interested in doing their own one shots and short stories but please remember this is MY world and MY rules. Pretty much the only rules I have are please use the appropriate ships as defined above, and please no hardcore smut. Abstract, soft smut is fine.
Seasons 1-7: Is all about them surviving in the new world created by the disasters. The 24 of them have banded together in San Francisco, along with a group of refugees. 50K AND UP
(Once in a) Blue Moon by clarkoholic and skywardsmiles
Stiles and Derek are getting along, but they’re not a family, and they’re sure as hell not mates. Christ, they’re basically just two stupid guys who happened to get pregnant because of a full moon and sheer dumb luck.
The Lighthouse Keeper by tugela54
On a rural island just off Alaska’s northern Inside Passage, stands a centuries old lighthouse - the perfect sanctuary for its keeper to hide when the moon is full, to burn and rage through its cycle with the townsfolk being none the wiser.
But then a new resident comes to Beacon Harbour – a bright-eyed young student chasing an elusive whale species – and all of a sudden those thick stone walls seem paper thin…

The Nearness Of You by triggeringthehealing
College is an experience that’s different for everyone. Of course, Stiles dives right into the fray. Having already made friends before he started, he’s pulled into the college’s student parliament, the nightclub at the dorms, and -- most importantly -- into a dorm room with all his friends right next doors. That includes the elusive, tall, dark, and mysterious Derek Hale. And maybe a few too many poetic descriptions that Stiles absolutely doesn’t have from Harlequin romances. They’re Isaac’s, okay, he just happens to share a room with him and Scott. And the bathroom. Which they also share with Derek, and it’s not going to be a problem at all. Featuring meddling friends and siblings, college shenanigans, fancy ballrooms, and curly fries.
Fall Right Back to You series by yodasyoyo
Post Nogitsune and Stiles is consumed with guilt and having nightmares. He doesn't think things could get any worse but then while helping Scott out he touches a magical artifact and ends up absorbing Derek's psyche into his own mind. This can only end well... right?
Drawn That Way by ChloeWeird
Derek is settling in (badly) at his new job at a gym in New York City. The job is fine, his co-workers seem alright, and his apartment is great, if a little lonely. The only problem: The infuriating guy who keeps sneaking into the gym to use the showers.
Façades of Peace by andavs
“A Ger—there’s a Nazi werewolf in Beacon Hills?” Stiles was yelling now, he couldn’t help it, because what the ever loving fuck was their lives. “A Nazi were—an alpha Nazi werewolf.”
An attempt to gather up all the loose ends from season five that works...medium well.
80K AND UP
A Wolf and His Boy series by lovesrain44
While running in the woods, Stiles is attacked by a feral werewolf. This leaves him marked but unclaimed, which makes it open season on Stiles, which means that any wolf can claim him and take him away. Derek presents a solution, but Stiles says the price is too high. After all, it’s only his safety that is at risk, so he can say no. Right? Wrong.
100K AND UP
Golden Boy by trilliath
Apparently it still amuses his uncle to buy sex slaves for him, no matter how steadfastly he refuses to use them. Derek ducks into his tent with a resigned sigh, prepared to dress and reassign whatever new beauty Peter has bought him. They do make for loyal servants, so he can't really complain about Peter's 'gifts'. But it is annoying to deal with, to have to spend his evening sorting out a slave instead of being able to go right to bed. It's just something he has to learn to accept as a byproduct of serving alongside his uncle.
But when he lays eyes on the boy laying amid his furs, he finds his breath catching in his throat. His skin is golden with the candle-light glimmering against the sheen of oil that has been slathered on his bared body. His lips are parted, and they work over inaudible words or sounds. His skin is flushed, nipples peaked and pierced with simple but unexpected golden rings. He's spectacularly beautiful in the candlelight. The many glowing candles that have been added to his usual lighting cast glittering edges and shadows, imbuing an almost unearthly golden color to his skin.
It's enough that Derek hesitates.
Sell Your Body to the Night by Dira Sudis
"No," he repeated impatiently. "I'm not a cop. I'm someone who wants to exchange my money for your sexual services. I was told you were in that line of work."
"I, uh, yeah, sorry," Stiles said. He glanced around again and then up--the full moon was almost directly overhead. Just one of those nights, maybe. "Yeah, I am. I do that."
What We Called Love by jadore_hale
He’d guessed that if Derek wasn’t paying him for the sex, then he was obviously paying him for the conversation. So Stiles made it a point to talk and never stop. Stiles rambled and Derek sometimes listened. Stiles shouted about X-Men and porn in fancy restaurants, and Derek sometimes grunted in response. Every now and then, Derek would even look up from his phone and make eye contact and blink, which Stiles would always take as a positive and real acknowledgment to his existence. And they never had sex. Not ever. No matter how badly Stiles wanted them to, and he wanted them to, oh so badly.
Stiles Stilinski has been Derek Hale’s sugar baby for the last three years, and just can’t understand why the man pays him so much damn money.
Or the one where Danny is Miley Cyrus, Dylan Sprouse, Justin Beiber, and Kanye West all in one.
Bruises and Hickies, Stitches and Scars by ElisAttack
“You’re my lawyer, Derek. What are you going to do, draft up a contract for yourself?”
Or the one where Stiles is a professional dominant, Derek is his lawyer, and their professional relationship suddenly becomes not so professional.
Also, faeries.
Among the Famous Living Dead by standinginanicedress
“Okay,” Stiles leans over the book, finger on his chin, while Derek stands there beside him with a frown on his face, “we have the pig’s blood.”
“They loved that at the butcher shop,” Derek mutters, rubbing his hand along his jaw. “I’ll take three quarts of pig’s blood. Not like this town doesn’t already think I’m some sort of fucking pervert anyway.”
“We have the hair you picked off his clothes,” Stiles points to the tiny Ziploc bag with a handful of Scott hairs tucked safely inside, and Derek grimaces. “We have the candles. We have the snake. Now we just need an object of the deceased.” He furrows his brow as he leans over the book some more, cocking his head. “It says the object can be anything that was deeply personal to the deceased. Like a piece of sentimental jewelry or a cherished trinket or even a favorite song.”
Derek snorts. “Yeah. Let’s just listen to fucking Blink-182 and summon the devil.
“Right?” Stiles laughs, high and hysterical, manic almost.
Derek laughs, and Stiles laughs, and it’s not funny. It’s really not funny.
