FOTD #104 : silver leaf! (chondrostereum purpureum)

silver leaf is a fungal disease of trees in the family cyphellaceae. it is a pathogen of various deciduous trees, as well as the rose family rosaceae. it is also commercially available as a mycoherbicide :-)

the big question : can i bite it?? unknown !! but i wouldn't recommend trying to eat a fungal disease, lol.

c. purpureum description :

"after starting as just a crust on the wood, the fruiting structure develops undulating intergrowing brackets up to about 3 cm broad, which have a tough rubbery texture. the edges & fertile lower surfaces show a fairly vivid violet colour while the fungus is growing, & the upper surfaces have a grey aspect (sometimes with zonation and usually a lighter edge) & are covered with whitish hairs. after a week or two the fructification dries out, becomes brittle, & turns a drab brown or beige."

Wooden feeling with some give but not damp to touch

Do i just spray antifungals until it dies or do i like. Get a chisel.

Using wood rot is quite usual and common in the field of mechanical drafting. But the most important thing is that a properly installed specialist probably can fix it himself, but not all of them know how do do things like "switching" different fluids.

Wood rot on the siding is a bothersome sight. But should you repair it or replace it? A painting company that could repair-replace exterior wood rot will save you from guessing (as well as the trouble of doing the grunt work).

I think the most heartbreaking part if this season (excluding Lucy) is the Rat Grinders being a pale, cold reflection of the Bad Kids. Like the Bad Kids have these wonderfully sweet moments of being together. That’s fundamentally what makes them The Bad Kids. They went through the shittyiest things in the world together and now they love each other so so so much and we get all of these sweet and tender moments of them loving each other. And the Rat Grinders are them with all that love stripped away, they don’t care about one another, they haven’t been through the same things, the only reason they are a party is because they are tactically useful together, not because they love one another. And when their Kristen dies they do nothing but replace her rather than mourn. Can you even imagine what the Bad Kids would do if Kristen died? And She Did. And they Freaked and kept her bones to figure out a way to Bring Her Back. They mourned and ran into the forest of their greatest nightmares after looking at each other and with all the love in the world saying “for Kristen.” The Bad Kids care about each other more than anything in the world, if they didn’t even the world wouldn’t be there. The Rat Grinders are a mirror showing them what it would be like if they didn’t, if they only fought for themselves and their own personal means. If they had let Kristen stay in the forest, only a pile of bones as the Rat Grinders did with Lucy. Maybe they aren’t evil, or the bbg, but they are an icy wake up call for the Bad Kids of what they could have been. A horrible version of what they could have been.

Day two was amazing! I do have a question though! I know that Mycheal has plumbing, but what about the wood? Does it rot, or is it sealed to prevent rotting? Also, it mentioned the wood dust, so is the toilet like a litter box?

Well, just imagine he probably has the know-how to manage upkeep, though his bathroom is a lot more DIY than what the official background art looks like haha! Pretty sure pipes are able to handle it fine? Oh well!

To be perfectly honest, at the end of the day my goal was wish fulfillment, and he has a nice bathroom so players can imagine themselves living comfortably in his cabin, logistics be damned 🫴❤️

And omg, I was waiting for someone to mention it haha! They're called sawdust toilets as far as my knowledge goes, so feel free to read about it on your own!
