@wordpress @wordpressvip
I started a WordPress blog only this year, but I fell in love with it instantly.
It was a careful decision, after a long period of deliberation between several different content management sites, but I chose WordPress because I felt that it had long-lasting capability in an ephemeral fast-paced internet. I've seen so many sites designed to host static content (like what I plan to post) change drastically and wither up and die, and I wanted a sustainable long-term archive for my life's work (fiction-writing, and writing articles about writing-craft) that I love so much.
Of course, WordPress even surpassed my initial expectations! I'm able to craft my blog ('The Notebook') to have that homemade Web 2.0 feel without being forced to add too many intrusive features that make me and my visitors uncomfortable. I can post my book reviews there to connect with my beloved book club even several hundred miles away from everyone else. My original recipe for biscuit cake with a biscuit base with can finally be seen and baked by the rest of the world too.
I love this product so much, but I'm concerned about its future now. I unexpectedly find myself doubting that initial decision to choose WordPress – and so soon after choosing it. Because it now looks *far* more unstable, more disreputable, more unsustainable than it has always been.
CEO Matt had always been quiet and inoffensive before, as good CEOs for sustainable long-term products that want to remain stable on the modern internet should be. But recently, he has taken to acting in an erratic, concerning way.
People have been losing trust in Automattic en-masse because of his immature cross-platform tantrums and alarming violations of data privacy laws – all in response to an issue that his product was at fault for; for its faulty, archaic automated content moderation system and appeal system. The flaws are gaping, and it's appalling for the most obvious of them to not even be acknowledged.
I implore you to take corrective action, at the very least to save Wordpress from sinking with this ship Matt is determined to go down with. Even if you dump this hellsite, poor WordPress is still going to be stuck with that idiot. Make the interim CEO permanent if you have to. WordPress means so much more than this, means so much to me, and has so much value that it's not worth losing.
TL/DR: Please act to save WordPress – I've come to love it a lot and I don't want it to die.

🌟 New
On the web, we have revamped the filters on the Activity page to help you stay on top of what matters to you.
In the iOS app, you can now double-tap to Like videos and unmute them by hitting the volume up button.
🛠 Fixed
We identified an issue preventing password reset emails from being delivered to Yahoo, Hotmail/Outlook, and AOL/AIM email addresses. If you’re still not receiving password reset emails, please check your spam folder, and contact support if it’s not there either.
Adding tags should now be more intuitive in the Android app.
We also fixed a rare crash when adding photos in the iOS app. Please keep your apps up to date!
🚧 Ongoing
As you may have heard, we are currently working on migrating Tumblr’s backend to WordPress. In fact, this blog has been running under WordPress since last week. If you’ve noticed any problems with it, please let us know!
🌱 Upcoming
No upcoming launches to announce today.
Experiencing an issue? Check for Known Issues and file a Support Request if you have something new. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can!

Hi!!! I hope you get what you want for your event. Don't forget to check your DMs. Also, I think the idea of spreading this here is very genius. How did you come up with it?
What I have in mind to write is actually about Nagi😍 As Nsfw, I wonder if it is possible for us to think in a sleepy way, like, it's a nice night before sleeping with Nagi, but Nagi is very sleepy, I keep this in mind because even I wasn't sure how to explain it, you are free to choose the way of writing and the plot. !!! Good luck with the project!💕💕🤗
hihi !! thank you so much for supporting my wordpress event! i had the idea since my partner knows about my blog and supports it, so that's why i offered the headcanons! now, let's chat about nagi's sleepy sexy tendencies...
SEISHIRO NAGI . . . SIT BACK, AND RELAX (?)
— when i say nagi will literally almost never initiate anything intimate, i mean it. if he's lazy enough to not want to eat because then he'll have to brush his teeth, then imagine what happens with other, non-important needs like his intimate desires. nagi will never really get turned on by anything, because he has no reason to. he sees you and thinks you're ethereal, yes, but does he have to view you in a sexual way? that's a hassle.
— that's until you fiiinally take the initiative, because frankly, you're going to have to introduce nagi to the world of intimacy, because if it were up to him, he'd be left in the dark. he'll have to experience your touch for him to realize he likes it, and finds himself being surprisingly vocal of how much he's enjoying it. so you best believe you'll be getting your feedback on what you're doing right immediately.
— now, if you reeaaaally want to rile him up, aphrodisiacs are the way to go. as i've mentioned before, nagi is hard to tease, so you'll have to resort to the chocolate tabs for him to really get it on. he doesn't get turned on easily, so with aphrodisiacs for the two of you (because hey! fair game!), you can get a few intimate moments with nagi.
— one tab of chocolate will have nagi breathing heavy, tossing and turning on the bed before he actually calls out to you for help. that will be the only occasion where seishiro nagi actually wants to initiate intimacy with you. cherish it!

So I stumbled upon this post about Tumblr and IndieWeb, and do you guys are still planning to do it? This is something that makes me more interested in Tumblr being "my part of the web" than ActivityPub
Answer: Hi, @arthrfrts!
This is an interesting question, and we must first thank you for your feedback about IndieWeb.
Regarding your question, we can say that it’s certainly possible, and we are discussing it—we would like to see this happen as much as you. That said, resources are stretched right now, and we haven’t put it on our roadmap yet. However, feedback from our users helps us set our product priorities, and this is feedback that we will be passing along to our leadership to consider. So we would ask you all to keep the feedback coming, and thanks for getting in touch.
As you may have heard, we are currently working on migrating Tumblr’s backend to WordPress, and this will take time and effort. You can also check out this recent article for the latest on our Fediverse plans.
Have a great day!

There are many web hosting companies to choose from if you're taking the plunge into making your own website with a comic content management system (CMS) like ComicControl or Grawlix, a Wordpress comic theme like Toocheke or ComicPress, or a HTML template to cut/paste code like Rarebit. While these solutions are generally free, finding a home for them is... generally not. It can be hard to choose what's best for your webcomic AND your budget!
We took a look at a few of the top hosting services used by webcomics creators using webcomic CMSes, and we put out a poll to ask your feedback about your hosts!
This post may be updated as time goes on as new services enter the hosting arena, or other important updates come to light.
Questions:
💻 I can get a free account with Wix/Squarespace/Carrd, could I just use those for my comic? - Web hosts like this may have gallery functions that could be adapted to display a series of pages, but they are very basic and not intended for webcomics.
📚 Wait, I host on Webtoon, Tapas, Comic Fury, or some other comic website, why are they not here? - Those are comic platforms! We'll get into those in a future post!
🕵️♀️Why does it say "shared hosting"? Who am I sharing with? - "Shared hosting" refers to sharing the server space with other customers. They will not have access to your files or anything, so it is perfectly fine to use for most comic CMSes. You may experience slowing if there is too much activity on a server, so if you're planning to host large files or more than 10 comics, you may want to upgrade to a more robust plan in the future.
Web Host List
Neocities
Basic plan pricing: Free or $5/month. Free plan has more restrictions (1 GB space, no custom domain, and slower bandwidth, among other things)
Notes: Neocities does not have database support for paid or free accounts, and most comic CMS solutions require this (ComicCtrl, Grawlix, Wordpress). You will need to work with HTML/CSS files directly to make a website and post each page.
Hostinger
Basic plan pricing: $11.99/month or $7.99/month with four year commitment (monthly, 1, 2, and 4 year plans available).
Notes: Free domain for the 1st year. Free SSL Certifications. Weekly backups.
KnownHost
Basic plan pricing: $8.95/month or $7.99/month with four year commitment (monthly, 1, 2, and 4 year plans available).
Notes: Free DDOS protection. Free SSL Certifications.
InMotion Hosting
Basic plan pricing: $12.99/month or $9.99/month with three year commitment (monthly, 1, and 3 year plans available).
Notes: Free SSL Certifications, free domain names for 1 and 3 year plans. 24/7 live customer service and 90-day money-back guarantee. Inmotion also advertises eco-friendly policies: We are the first-ever Green Data Center in Los Angeles. We cut cooling costs by nearly 70 percent and reduce our carbon output by more than 2,000 tons per year.
Reviews:
👍“I can't remember it ever going down.”
👍“InMotion has a pretty extensive library full of various guides on setting up and managing websites, servers, domains, etc. Customer service is also fairly quick on responding to inquiries.” 👎“I wish it was a bit faster with loading pages.”
Ionos Hosting
Basic plan pricing: $8/month or $6/month with three year commitment (monthly, 1, 2 and 3 year plans available).
Notes: Free domain for the first year, free SSL Certification, Daily backup and recovery is included. Site Scan and Repair is free for the first 30 days and then is $6/month.
Reviews:
👍“Very fast and simple” 👎“Customer service is mediocre and I can't upload large files”
Bluehost
Basic plan pricing: $15.99/month or $4.95/month with three year commitment (monthly, 1, 3 year plans available).
Notes: Free domain and SSL certificates (for first year only). 24/7 Customer Service. Built to handle higher traffic websites. Although they specialize in Wordpress websites and provide updates automatically, that's almost a bad thing for webcomic plugins because they will often break your site. Their cloud hosting services are currently in early access with not much additional information available.
Reviews:
👎"The fees keep going up. Like I could drop $100 to cover a whole year, but now I'm paying nearly $100 for just three months. It's really upsetting."
👎"I have previously used Bluehost’s Wordpress hosting service and have had negative experiences with the service, so please consider with a grain of salt. I can confirm at least that their 24/7 customer service was great, although needed FAR too often."
Dreamhost
Basic plan pricing: $7.99/month or $5.99/month with three year commitment (monthly, 1, 3 year plans available).
Notes: Free SSL Certificates, 24/7 support with all plans, 97-day moneyback guarantee. Not recommended for ComicCtrl CMS
Reviews:
👍“They've automatically patched 2 security holes I created/allowed by mistake.” 👍“Prices are very reasonable” 👎 “back end kind of annoying to use” 👎 “wordpress has some issues” 👎 “it's not as customizable as some might want“
GoDaddy
Basic plan pricing: $11.99/month or $9.99/month with three year commitment (monthly, 1, 2, and 3 year plans available).
Notes: Free 24/7 Customer service with all plans, Free SSL Certificates for 1 year, free domain and site migration.
Reviews:
👍Reasonable intro prices for their Economy hosting, which has 25GB of storage 👍Migrated email hosting service from cPanel to Microsoft Office, which has greater support but may not be useful for most webcomic creators. 👎 Many site issues and then being upsold during customer service attempts. 👎 Server quality found lacking in reviews 👎 Marketing scandals in the past with a reputation for making ads in poor taste. Have been attempting to clean up that image in recent years. 👎 “GoDaddy is the McDonald's of web hosting. Maybe the Wal-Mart of hosting would be better. If your website was an object you would need a shelf to put it on. You go to Wal-Mart and buy a shelf. It's not great. It's not fancy. It can only hold that one thing. And if we're being honest - if the shelf broke and your website died it wouldn't be the end of the world. The issue comes when you don't realize GoDaddy is the Wal-Mart of hosting. You go and try to do things you could do with a quality shelf. Like, move it. Or add more things to it.” MyWorkAccountThisIs on Reddit*
Things to consider for any host:
💸 Introductory/promotional pricing - Many hosting companies offer free or inexpensive deals to get you in the door, and then raise the cost for these features after the first year or when you renew. The prices in this post are the base prices that you can expect to pay after the promotional prices end, but may get outdated, so you are encouraged to do your own research as well.
💻 Wordpress hosting - Many of the companies below will have a separate offering for Wordpress-optimized hosting that will keep you updated with the latest Wordpress releases. This is usually not necessary for webcomic creators, and can be the source of many site-breaking headaches when comic plugins have not caught up to the latest Wordpress releases.
Any basic hosting plan on this list will be fine with Wordpress, but expect to stop or revert Wordpress versions if you go with this as your CMS.
🤝 You don't have to go it alone - While free hosts may be more limited, paid hosting on a web server will generally allow you to create different subdomains, or attach additional purchased domains to any folders you make. If you have other comic-making friends you know and trust, you can share your server space and split the cost!
Want to share your experience?
Feel free to contribute your hosting pros, cons, and quirks on our survey! We will be updating our list periodically with your feedback!

Figuring out the age of Sims in the Sims 4 is tough. Sims don’t have a set ‘birthday,’ and they age up based on life stages, making it hard for legacy players and storytellers to narrow down exactly what ‘age’ a sim is. Let’s face it: there’s a big difference between a child who is five years old and one who is twelve.
I’ve been a legacy/storyteller for years. Previously, I relied on the in-game ‘normal’ life span for my sims. However, I often felt rushed to get my sims married and have children. This was to avoid the problem of my elder sims dying off before meeting their grandchildren. This issue became even worse when the Discover University Expansion was introduced. If I want to send my sims to college, it takes up even more of their young adult years. Consequently, the marriage/child ‘rush’ becomes a bigger issue.
Eventually, I turned to the MC Command Center mod to solve this by creating my own age ranges, giving each life stage ample time to pursue their goals, develop as characters, and later find someone to spend their lives with. With some tweaking over the years, I came up with the life stage breakdowns you see above. I tried matching the number of sim days in each life stage with an ‘age’ that matches what we’re used to in the real world. I am sharing this because it might be helpful for anyone else who is struggling to ‘age’ their sims. And while it’s not perfect, it could be a good starting point, and I hope it helps!
A large/printable version of this graphic is available on my website here: My Sims 4 Lifespan**

I applied to write for ScreenRant years ago and honestly even the application process was a massive turn-off. I have a master’s degree in journalism from one of the best schools in the country, just for context.
At the time I applied you had to submit multiple samples, which is normal for an online publication like this seen, but they stated that they could take what you’d write and use it themselves even if you were not hired. Not a fan of this, not sure if this has changed since. You were accepted into training and into a discord and had to write multiple articles unpaid during what was basically an incredibly demanding boot camp. These articles had to be written on their Wordpress site so you had very little access to your own work. Maybe that’s changed idk. I wrote 5 articles in a week during this period.
Once you submit the article (that you’re still not being paid for) they’d give almost aggressively awful feedback. You had multiple people reading everything and giving feedback and they’d contradict each other. Communication was a mess since it was all through Discord. If you didn’t know how to use their software, which at the time I didn’t, good luck because you were fucked. After the first round of edits they decided to keep you on or let you go, before you reached the next article. Rinse and repeat times however long you stayed.
Also the pay: $15 per article. So you’re encouraged to just write low effort, trendy, repeated topics to make cash. They run SR harder than some of the larger, traditional outlets I know, yet the hard vetting of the work seems to end with the training and then you’re let free.
I didn’t end up working with them because I got a higher paying, salaried, offer somewhere else. Thankfully. But knowing how SR runs stuff…it makes sense that the articles they publish are lackluster, repetitive, and all for the clicks.
Holy. Fucking. Shiiiiit.
Thank you for sharing this! My lord a DISCORD?! I hope it's changed.
This is an older ask but I'm so happy you shared your experience with me and I'm so glad you got a great job in the end!!!

Due to the recent ban and censorship issues on Darkccfinds, a determination has been made as of today January 22, 2025
1. From this day on, all posts created from Darkccfinds that refer to an external link to Tumblr will receive a mirror for download and the web address credited without hyperlink to the content referred to
We have always genuinely prioritized the working links provided by the original creators of the content offered as is laudable by nature, but we cannot continue to take risks. This also involves extra effort and work on the part of Darkccfinds and this decision has been arduously debated and very thoughtful. Whereby:
If any of the external authors requests the removal of any of the content provided, their will will prevail. As well as that of the authors and creators themselves who in the past published on Tumblr and deleted or abandoned their blog and working links; which we have resurrected here to host them in a secure hosting and they are safe from oblivion and remain accessible to all those who value them and continue to need them today in the The Sims 3 community
You can resort to all this via DM or in this section #Appeal, all in Darkccfinds
The websites that remain exempt from this measure due to the proven approval passed by the Tumblr platform itself are those that are hosted under these hostings or other platforms:
Blogger GardenofShadows LiveJournal ModTheSims Patreon ( *Always Free links ) TheSimsResource Weebly WordPress
The list may increase or decrease depending on the answer of tumblr team to the last query we have made to solve this problem
2. We will not wait for the Tumblr filter regarding censorship and Darkccfinds will self-censor content considered NSFW by Tumblr
This must be made clear that it will be very much against our will and against some of our values and philosophy, but we will try to maintain our pure essence knowing that it is increasingly difficult to do so on this platform
Thanks again for all the support, understanding and feedback received. Since the return and from the beginning, from the times we have been censored and released
Sincerely, the small team that forms Darkccfinds as a whole.
White-Enamel & Mikeintheshadows.

Hey, so happy Sunday, here is a little game to play: What kind on relationship/connection does these two characters have?
Take your time and just read it.
Have your guess?
Oh, You thought it was a couple? HAHA, FUCK YOU, THEY ARE SISTERS! Written by yours, Lily Peet ("Orchard"/CD-Call).
And before someone claims "oh, the context is missing, this is why this part reads as a couple snuggling" here is the rest, from Peet's old WordPress that has the total of two Avatar Niva stories on it - the rest was nuked with her tumblr. And no, the context doesn't make it better - it is just more touching, hugging and head kisses. And no? If you write siblings (having a normal, maybe close relationship still) being physically close to each other, it should feel sexual or easily mistaken for a couple with or without a context.
And the little section above the list of nuked writings takes me every time:
"I've had the opportunity to go professional in the past" LILY, you want people to believe that with this quality of writing, someone offered you money? Girl.
Lily, with all the best in my heart, on a more serious note: Go and join a creative writing group. Seriously. Where I live, there are always creative groups offering memberships for hella little money. They are usually targeting moms with small kids at home, who want to have a reason to go outside and have some me-time while doing something creative or older folks who wants to have a community. In my experience, these groups are always really nice and organized by people who have some kind of professional background in writing, so you will get an actual feedback about your work as well. I'm not a professional in any means, but even I can see that your writing is lacking in many things and you still need to find your own style.

do you have any posts already or if not would you be willing to share any information about what the process of getting the website up and running was like? i'm really interested in getting a site going for some other photo/record keeping projects and i know a decent amount about website design and basic html, but not that much about the process of actually getting it online;^;
Happy to share!
To be clear, my level of coding skill began with teaching myself html for neopets and ended with cobbling together vaguely custom css for my OG personal tumblr in 2011. So in terms of the physical backend of the website… it’s just Squarespace.
Getting it online is pretty simple if you’re not writing the code yourself, but there’s some stuff you’ve got to figure out first: what the name of your site will be, what url (domain) you want it to have, where to buy it, and where you want to host the site (like squarespace or Wordpress).
Once you’ve got the details sorted, you get an account on the hosting platform you want to use, and then set up the site and connect a domain. Squarespace lets you buy domains directly through their interface, but it tends to be more expensive than buying it directly from a registrar company like Namecheap or GoDaddy. If you’re comfortable teaching yourself to navigate basic internet stuff via Google, it isn’t too hard to learn how to tell a domain you bought elsewhere to point at your site. (Everything I’ve done to run all my websites has been self-taught via Google and Reddit, with the assistance of some very patient techie friends).
Once you’ve got the crunchy stuff set up, you build the site! I use Squarespace preferentially over Wordpress because a) I like the aesthetic of the templates and b) it’s what I know how to use. Wordpress is cheaper but trying to navigate the visual layout of the site annoyed me to the point it wasn’t fun anymore, so I personally will pay for ease of access on layout and design stuff.
To build the site, I thought through what I wanted the user experience to be, and how I wanted people to navigate, and I built with that in mind. For the photo repository, my goal was very clean visuals that really showcased the photos, and I wanted people to be able to navigate the taxonomy both visually and from a list. Honestly, just play with it, and try different things until you find a layout you like.
Then you try to break the site you’ve built. Because there will be errors and bugs and as much as I do appreciate it when y’all send me problems you encounter, I’d rather fix it first. I always check a new site on a desktop computer, tablet, and phone, and then ask a couple friends running different operating systems to do the same. That’s a good time to get feedback on things like layout and font size and readability, too.
The biggest time sink for the project has actually just been the photo management. I had to figure out how I needed things organized to build the site, and then taking the time to upload them all is the major rate-limiting factor.
You can launch the site so it’s “online” at any point during this process after you’ve paid for hosting and the domain and set it up, but I tend to wait until I’ve built the site and beta tested it sufficiently.
I’m happy to answer other questions, I’m just not sure what else would be helpful!

Feedback wanted!
The labour of love is over. The "Get Lucky" story is compete and I would love to know what people think, positive or negative, I'm desperate for feedback.
This thirteen part story is over 650,000 words long - well done if you've read them all! The story took a year to plan and write so I appreciate you sticking with it over the past seven months.
From my point of view, there are a number of glaring changes I made to the original plan. Spoilers ahead! The "Honeymoon" was originally the end of the story and that was way back at part 8! Obviously something major happened to ensure the honeymoon kept getting bumped until it arrived at the end of the Epilogue!
The major change was Ellen. I decided to make her completely irredeemable and have her leave the story, only to return, to be seen at the airport having reconciled with her parents during the trip to Aruba. Abigail was always going to be the replacement antagonist, stepping into the void left by Ellen as she tried to move up the ranks at the office. She was always going to blackmail everyone.
Obviously, Ellen came back much earlier than planned. This was entirely down to my readers both here and on WordPress. There was a massive outpouring of support for the waywood sister. They wanted her back, perhaps given a chance to repair the damage she caused and if I was going to redeem her in some worthy way... it was going to take a lot of writing. Hence the five further parts.
Did any of it jarr with readers?
Who were your favourite characters and why?
Finally, I did something that my readers always ask of me but I always decline: to not name the hero of the story. I get why, this means that male readers can place themselves in the events that happen. Strangely, even though the hero is only named once in part 1, no one had noticed or commented at all! It was a massive inconvenience to not use his name and it made writing very difficult.
Was having an 'un-named' main character worth it? Did you notice?
I hope you can get in touch, either reply to this post or send me a direct message. Constructive criticism only please and if you want to send some love and praise, that would be greatly appreciated. But if you have any thoughts about the "Get Lucky" series at all, then please let me know.
Next I'll be going back to some short stories! I have a few already written, in the editing stage, so expect them soon. Much love x
