i feel like it's worth remembering that the most vulnerable people aren't just being "inconvenienced" by strikes. the only reason strikes work is because they grind an industry to a halt, and that genuinely can result in very dangerous situations for some people. the bystanders probably arent a huge issue with like the writers strike, but without say, UPS, a lot of people will not get medicine, food, and other essentials in time. and of course the workers themselves are sacrificing potentially everything to hold the line.
TO BE CLEAR, this is not the fault of the striking workers. the corporations could end this at any moment by choosing to be slightly less evil, and workers should not have to choose between endangering themselves constantly or endangering random strangers sometimes. but i feel like i see a lot of very flippant posts coming from a place of privilege where they're like "lol yeah i would love to be slightly inconvenienced all the time so people can be paid more, dont be a baby" as if strikes are a simple and easy solution, and not something people very bravely do, if not as a last resort, at least after exhausting the less dangerous options. fighting for our rights is not painless.
#just in general i see a lot of people like 'we should do away with [x thing disabled people rely on] to make things better for workers :)'#and its just so completely misguided#the solution is not to do away with these services it is to better compensate the workers#and hire more workers so no one is being overworked#and make sure they are safe with stuff like aircon#people really think if they dont use a service much it must not be important

I think it's a mistake to assume that computer generation (so-called AI) is the only manifestation of the exploitation that workers (especially in artistic fields that are already considered lesser) experience. The problems that they experience are, I think, exasperated by computer generation, but it isn't like there were no problems with compensation, theft, or other forms of exploitation.
The problem is the exploitation, and I think sometimes, people lose sight of that in these conversations.
#politics#i don't think i'm inherently against 'ai' *but* I don't think it can exist in the world we live in now#we already had problems with worker compensation and recognizing workers and i don't think ai is the solution#like i don't know - i'm sure computer generation can be done in a more ethical way on a smaller scale...#...but if we're talking about the system we currently live in I don't think that those ethics will be adhered to...#...the profit motice outweighs the desire for equity or equality or the artistry that was taken without compensation from artists#but sometimes it feels like people think the only battle to 'win' is against 'ai' and not the system that fostered the success of it#anyway these are some shot of thoughts 👍#i've just seen some conversations about this that i vehemently disagreed with not because of the conclusions but how they arrived there

Why Dr. John Henrik Clarke Is Correct About Black People Having No Friends (and why We Don’t Need Any) – a Garveyite Perspective
Dr. John Henrik Clarke famously stated, “Black people have no friends.” For many, this may sound harsh, but it is a sobering truth when viewed through the lens of Pan-Africanism and Marcus Garvey’s philosophy. Garvey understood that Black liberation can not depend on external allies; it must come from within—rooted in self-reliance, unity, and a shared commitment among Black people globally.
Here’s why, Dr. Clarke’s statement rings true and why, from a Garveyite perspective, Black people don’t need friends—only each other.
1. History Proves It
From colonialism to the civil rights era, supposed "friends" of Black people have repeatedly betrayed or abandoned us. Other groups have leveraged Black struggles for their own gains, only to leave Black people behind once their goals were achieved.
Post-slavery labour movements excluded Black workers.
Civil rights coalitions saw other groups gain rights, while Black people remained trapped under systemic racism.
Garvey and Clarke both saw these betrayals as evidence that Black people must prioritize their own interests and stop relying on others.
2. Global Anti-Blackness Is Real
Anti-Blackness isn’t confined to one region—it’s a global phenomenon. Across continents, Black people face systemic oppression, discrimination, and dehumanization.
Other groups often form alliances to protect their own power while marginalizing Black voices.
Even in spaces of shared oppression, anti-Blackness often takes precedence.
Dr. Clarke’s assertion and Garvey’s vision both point to this truth: Black liberation must come from within because no one else will prioritize us.
3. Dependency Leads to Exploitation
Depending on outside "friends" or "allies" often comes with hidden costs. Foreign aid, alliances, and solidarity movements often prioritize the interests of others over Black liberation.
Aid to African nations often perpetuates dependency rather than fostering self-sufficiency.
"Allies" in social justice movements often centre their struggles, leaving Black people to fight alone.
Garvey warned that dependency breeds vulnerability. Clarke reinforces this: Black people must build their own systems to avoid exploitation.
4. We Have Everything We Need
Garvey believed that Black people possess the resources, talents, and ingenuity needed for liberation.
Africa’s wealth: With its vast natural resources, Africa can fund global Black empowerment if reclaimed from exploitative systems.
Diaspora talent: Across the globe, Black communities excel in innovation, creativity, and resilience.
Dr. Clarke’s statement echoes Garvey’s vision: We don’t need friends because we already have all the tools for success.
5. Cultural Exploitation Is Proof of No True Friendship
Black culture—music, art, fashion, and more—is celebrated globally, but Black people are rarely compensated or empowered by their own creations.
Other groups profit from Black innovation while perpetuating anti-Black systems.
Cultural exploitation demonstrates a lack of true solidarity.
Garvey’s solution: Black people must reclaim their culture and use it as a tool for empowerment, not exploitation.
6. Unity Is Our Greatest Strength (and Threat to Oppressors)
A united global Black community is the most powerful weapon against systemic oppression. Garvey emphasized unity, and Clarke’s assertion underscores why others fear it:
A unified Black world challenges global power structures that thrive on division.
By focusing on internal unity, Black people strengthen themselves and disrupt oppressive systems.
7. Allies Often Divide Us
Alliances can create divisions within Black movements, as external influences pit factions against each other or dilute the focus on Black liberation.
During the civil rights movement, alliances often marginalized more radical Black voices.
Today, funding from external groups can cause conflicts between grassroots Black organizers and larger organizations tied to outside agendas.
Garvey’s emphasis on self-reliance offers a solution: Black unity must come first, free from outside interference.
8. Other Groups Prioritize Their Own Interests
Every group prioritizes its own survival and progress—it’s not wrong, but Black people must learn from this.
White nations maintain global alliances to uphold their dominance.
Asian nations focus on economic self-sufficiency.
Jewish communities have built strong networks to protect and uplift their people.
Garvey and Clarke would agree: It’s time for Black people to do the same and put themselves first.
9. Historical Success Through Self-Reliance
History proves that Black people thrive when they rely on themselves:
The Haitian Revolution succeeded because enslaved Africans united and rejected external dependence.
Garvey’s UNIA (Universal Negro Improvement Association) built businesses, schools, and a global movement without outside help.
These examples show that self-reliance works. Black people don’t need friends—they need focus.
10. True Liberation Is Self-Determined
Liberation can not be outsourced, gifted, or borrowed—it must be self-determined. Allies may help temporarily, but no one will prioritize Black liberation over their own interests.
Garvey envisioned a world where Black people controlled their own economies, politics, and resources.
Clarke’s assertion reminds us that we can’t afford to waste time seeking validation or support from others.
11. Black Liberation Threatens Global Power Structures
Both Garvey and Clarke understood that Black liberation isn’t just a struggle for freedom—it’s a direct threat to the systems of power that dominate the world.
A free and united Africa would undermine Western economic dominance, which relies on exploiting African resources.
A globally empowered Black diaspora would disrupt industries, politics, and systems built on anti-Blackness.
This explains why no other group can truly be a friend to Black liberation. Their survival often depends on maintaining the status quo that oppresses us.
12. “Allies” Often Centre Themselves in Our Struggles
Even when other groups claim to stand in solidarity with Black movements, their involvement often centers their own experiences, narratives, and priorities.
Non-black allies frequently shift attention to their struggles, leaving Black people to carry the burden of fighting for everyone else.
Movements like Black Lives Matter have seen external groups co-opt their messages for personal or political gain.
Garvey’s philosophy reminds us to stay focused on our own goals and not allow our movements to be hijacked.
13. Romanticizing External Help Distracts from Pan-African Solutions
One of the pitfalls of seeking allies is the belief that external help is necessary or even superior. This mindset can prevent Black people from exploring Pan-African solutions.
Garvey’s vision of “Africa for Africans” called for African nations and the diaspora to work together without relying on foreign nations or systems.
Clarke’s statement reinforces this idea: the best solutions come from within. Black people don’t need external friends—they need internal unity.
14. Allies Often Maintain Anti-Black Systems
Even so-called “progressive” allies often uphold the same systems that oppress Black people.
Corporations claiming to support racial justice continue to exploit African resources and labour.
Governments speaking out against racism still engage in policies that harm Black communities worldwide.
Dr. Clarke and Garvey both understood this hypocrisy. Real liberation requires rejecting systems that perpetuate oppression, even if they claim to support us.
15. Our Focus Should Be on Building Future Generations, Not Pleasing Others
Garvey often emphasized the importance of preparing future generations to lead and succeed independently.
Clarke’s warning about having no friends reinforces this: Why waste time seeking allies when we could be building schools, economies, and systems that empower our children?
A Garveyite perspective prioritizes creating a legacy of self-reliance and leadership that ensures the survival and progress of Black people globally.
By focusing on the future, Black people can stop relying on the approval or assistance of others and instead secure their own destinies.
Final Reflection: All We Have Is Us, and That’s Enough
Dr. John Henrik Clarke’s statement and Marcus Garvey’s philosophy both lead to the same conclusion: Black people must take responsibility for their liberation. True freedom can not and will not come from allies—it must come from within. The power lies in our hands, in our unity, and in our shared commitment to self-determination.
We don’t need friends. We need ourselves.

I think the frustrating thing about QSMP and payment is that it starts to feel like people low key implying it’s all going to go to Quackity’s pocket. Not intentionally, and not necessarily. Like, if it’s not going towards the admins directly it mustn’t be going towards anything else related to QSMP. And like, a part of it is that if the Eggs sales only went to the egg admins…then what about the other workers there? The modders and builders, just anybody else that still works at QSMP. Like, the admins should be compensated for their past work but taking any sales you get and only putting it towards said admins while it’s been made clear that financially the QSMP is not in the strongest position doesn’t seem like the best solution either.
Especially since QSMP doesn’t have a fixed income. It isn’t constantly making money like other businesses during these situations so it can’t start paying people back immediately. Everything comes out of Q’s pocket and I doubt those pockets are deep enough to pay for everything given he doesn’t stream frequently. The fact that Tubbo and Bad are concerned enough about the financial state that they are tryin to make it easier on Q (not using the translator when unnecessary, buying merch) says a lot to me.
Like I get it. If everything gets settled/improved financially and he still hasn’t paid the admins back then it’s going to be a major disappointment and problem. But like, until things are settled at the base (QSMP), I don’t think Quackity can make moves towards paying back the others without putting more strain on the situation or at worse not being able to actually pay them fully back people. Much less find a way to talk about it that might unintentionally become a false promise or could lead to more issues in him not being able to pay them back in a timely manner.
Like, idk, I’m never going to say that Q shouldn’t at the very least try to give some updates on the situation because IT IS unfair to the admins
but as somebody not involved in the Studio, who has no idea of the actual depth of the financial situation or the problems that might be going on legally in the background, I don’t PERSONALLY feel comfortable saying “well he can at least say X to the admins.” For me personally, that part just holds too many assumptions that I don’t have any insight on
I don't really have anything to add to this, this a pretty well thought out post

hey y'all, since it's spotify wrapped season, can i beg a moment of your time? no, im not about to get on a soapbox about spotify. spotify sucks but that's not what i want to talk about.
did you know that most recording artists in the united states don't have the legal right to organize a union? some musicians are unionized as part of SAG-AFTRA or the American Federation of Musicians (for instrumental musicians), but lyricists and composers are classified as "independent contractors." This decision was handed down by the national labor relations board in 1984 and has not been overturned.
this means that musicians cannot organize or negotiate for better deals from, for instance, spotify, without the threat of being sued due to antitrust laws. musicians who are not represented by a major label or who are not part of a large musical organization such as an orchestra have very little bargaining power. source
fixing this situation will take a lot of work -- there's not a single easy solution. but in an era where we're seeing union growth and historic labor wins, i think now is the time to dream big. musicians need to organize ourselves on the ground to create collective power. we also need wider political interest and momentum around the necessity of musicians' rights.
this isn't time for you to say "yea im never gonna pay full price for music, sorry" or "musicians just have to accept that the market's saturated and devalued." this is time for us to try to envision a music industry where artists can be compensated for their creative labor and music can still remain accessible and easy to discover. changing the labor situation in the united states is just one piece of changing a global music industry, but it could have a big impact on the future.
if you're in the united states, there are two active efforts that you can ask your representatives to support -- one congressional bill introduced by Deborah Ross, and a resolution introduced by Rashida Tlaib.
H.R. 5576 - Protect Working Musicians Act of 2023 - sponsored by Artist Rights Alliance
H.Con.Res. 102 - Resolution for a new Streaming Royalty - sponsored by United Musicians and Allied Workers
i know there is so much to organize around right now. but if you're in the united states and have predominantly used spotify this year, or posted about spotify wrapped, please take a moment to send a message to your representatives about these bills. all you need to do is fill in your info, the letters are already written for you.
and please share this widely. thank you!!

My personal opinion on the concern about real human beings being happy to submit "garbage" AI text as content for various web media, is that if web copy can be acceptably replaced by its human originators with low quality AI approximation then that's exactly what it deserves. Perhaps we are coming to a reckoning with how much human labour and informational output went into producing pointless fluff and marketing filler; if that is the case, so be it. If the web is filling with such content that is made more visibly bad by being improperly authored by AI, then that is already content that I don't care to protect, honestly. The solution should be phase out the dominance of corporatized text slop in our online resources; not force humans to go back to writing it ourselves.
This is a distinct opinion from my views on protecting the livelihoods of those content writers themselves, but, in a similar manner to corporate illustration, we need to reckon with the fact such workers are producing filler that is every bit is soulless in purpose as the AI replacement, as proven by how effectively it can be replaced. And in both cases, I think the solution with regards to automation threat to livelihoods is a restructuring of how we compensate people for their labour and provide for everyone in our society, rather than forcing people to undertake senseless busywork that those commissioning (e.g. corporate content mills) admit could just as easily be done by a machine.

How our next game, ChromaGun 2, remains accessible with its color-based mechanics!
ChromaGun 2 is our next release - it's a first-person puzzle shooter, with mechanics based on a gun that shoots paint!
Essentially, you use the ChromaGun to color walls and littler worker droids in order to activate triggers and open doors. Droids are attracted to walls of the same color. And eventually, the player will need to mix primary colors to properly solve the puzzles. It sounds simple, but begins to increase in difficulty as new mechanics are introduced.
Here's the issue. If you have any form of color-blindness. This becomes noticeably more difficult and far less enjoyable.
It doesn't matter what form of color blindness you have. They all affect the core of the game, which makes using a filter or color-correction impractical; in order to compensate all forms of color-blindness, we'll need a different solution.
[Quick overview of forms of color-blindness by the NIH]
So how did we solve this?
Simple! We used shapes!
Huh? Shapes?
Yeah, shapes!
We assign each primary color an easily distinguishable symbol.
Triangle for yellow, straight line for red, and circle for blue! It is imperative that they're easily distinguishable. Both because it needs to be easy to tell the colors apart, and because they need to still be distinguishable when they mix together.
How does color mixing function?
See the gif above - when primaries are mixed, the shapes are combined together to create their own distinct symbols, allowing the user to put together the combination without needing the extra context of color.
Where do they appear?
Firstly, in the bottom-right corner of the screen, right next to the ChromaGun. This indicates what color is currently "equipped."
Secondly, they appear layered over colored WorkerDroids.
Thirdly, they appear dead-center on the surface of paintable walls.
Lastly, they appear on tertiary puzzle objects like boxes, vents, and other colorables! (see barrel above, for example)
Where can this be activated?
Currently, it can be toggled in the settings in the gameplay section of the main menu!
Does.. it work?
It has in fact been tested, and was successful in the titles predecessor, ChromaGun.
During my time at the Berlin Games Ground, I left the color blind mode active after a user mentioned they had difficulty seeing the colors. I thought ah, perfect! I can see our games feature in action. And.. it worked well! They immediately said everything made so much more sense, and in regards to the symbols, said that they appreciate that we used them rather than a filter.
Also, many non-colorblind players thought they were just a natural part of the game, as I left them on. So they're both functional, subtle, and visually pleasing.
In conclusion...
Accessibility is a core part of modern game design, and the inclusion of these features is imperative to the enjoyment of a game, especially when core mechanics are involved.
We don't want to exclude anyone from playing our game! Thanks for reading, and I hope you found this log interesting, and maybe even useful (especially if you're a fellow indie dev ;) )!
Iffff u wanna test it out, check out our steam page! We're currently preparing to do playtests! If your interested, let me know! (Email or dm!)

Time For Change:
alright, another idea that interested me, this one will be probably be shorter since we keep ep 1-4, but there will be name changes due to the time travel shenanigans and potential additions but probably gonna try to stick to just a single thing lol, episodes will be long in my mind to compensate
with that in mind, tallyhoo, grab your snacks and your beverages!
Ep 5 "Could you really call this house a home?": Uzi hooks up the dd's to herself and her solver reacts weirdly..., showing a clock like symbol? that's new...she looks down and sees a portal beneath her chair, as if waiting for her to look down....she's seen enough anime and looney tunes to know where this is going, no use fighting whatever weirdness is her life now, she was not expecting to fall in front of a manor...her iconic outfit ripped sadly from falling through trees and brush and stuff, all that survived being her iconic hoodie's design and her beanie to a degree....well she was on earth, she could probably have that sewn back together by someone, maybe fused into, though she hopes not to be seen yet, she does not like feeling like she could- annnnd a human found her...oh sweet robo-jeebus why is she so strong!? and....is that....is that J as...a...worker..drone....uzi knows where she is now, well, When. introductions of course happen as well as uzi getting her own variation of a maid outfit...one with inverted colors....the elliott's seemed so much much much less cooler then their daughter was. n and v....okay byte her, she admits she cannot ignore their dynamics are cute....cyn...seemed honestly okay....though the yellow was familiar...oh boy. and J....well it's J....though she does notice the fondness between her and tessa....so there was a heart under all the paperwork.
Ep 6 "Manor mishaps and mannerisms": Whole point of the episode is just showing the dynamics of the manor cast with uzi here doing chores so she doesn't potentially get "scrapped" while interacting with each of them, the pros and cons of each of them, using her solver powers when no one is looking to complete them faster, cyln being cylly and stuff, all leading up to the gala
Ep 7 "Outro Gala; Cyn-phony of the solver": the moment of absolution for the worst of the worst is upon them, and it is time for the solver to ensure it's promise gets upheld, sensing a different but familiar vibe in uzi, it gives instructions to get herself, tessa and J out of there so it may do what it needs to, they also manage to save N along the way, telling police as best they could (I like to imagine a haunting vocal performance rendition of The HuMaN Gala plays over the scene where we get to see all the rich folk dying)
Ep 8 "cyn's sins": Cyn explains herself to V,J,N,Uzi, and tessa, why the deal happened, flash backs of when it was her in control and when it wasn't, the faraday cage giving her a moment of relief to be able to genuinely talk, though even then it may not be long, uzi comes up with a plan for her cyster
Ep 9 "A Uzi solution against the absolute": The final battle commences within the mind of cyn, her visor showing the others what is going on between within the mind, once more a spectator to it all, a truly epic battle of eldritch proportions happens! (I like to imagine a classical rendition of "bite me" is playing as the battle rages on, as for what I think the solver looks like? a null sphere head with a solver symbol on it with three sets of mandibles coming out, centipede like body made of metal and flesh, scuttling on air like a demented centipede from the game of the same name. uzi's form? her main body is like that of a similar fleshy and metaly centipede, but in place of each area where gigantic legs should be were gigantic bat wings, her head wolf-like, sporting four null sphere eyes with her own solver symbol on them)
Ep Epilogue "a new norm": good news, Uzi was a savior and with the stuff that the solver did at the gala, there was...definitely less evil rich people in the world overrall, the manor had been cleaned up and they were all allowed to return, with no parents to stop her though, every drone gets to use the name, Nate smiles as he hears it from tessa, same with Velma, and her precious Jewel practically beams with life at her name being used like she was given the world's best promotion, cyn is still cyn for short, but tessa decides on cynthiana. Uzi may somewhat feel homesick but...she saved not just the world, but the entire timeline from ever having to deal with the original absolute solver. now she'll just have to figure out how to handle a life on earth.
Time For Change
Alright, I'm glad to see this one getting some love as well, so let's take a look. Give it the old what for and all that rot.
Remember to have a cuppa!
Ep 5 - I kinda want Uzi to look at N and V after looking at the portal, her visor flashing "Going Down?" with flame particles underneath. She just sits back in her chair, hands behind her head, and feet cross, her fuck giving directive missing. Landing half naked from the fall. Yeah, Tessa being able to bodily handle N like a ragdoll is a thing, I think Uzi would be far easier. I think she might find it endearing, but seeing V not being awake and working probably disturbs her. She might actually give J a chance to show herself as somewhat... not what we know.
Ep 6 - I just see Uzi hating every minute of doing chores. Though she could fix some of the wiring of the house, cause they need to work on a few things around that house. I could see Cyn seeing it and just keeping quiet about it.
Ep 7 - or not, and just going by vibes works. She has to save the weirdly attractive butler drone after all, and Tessa's a decent human that may or may not be making her rethink her kill all humans ideas... The audio bleed over works nicely.
Ep 8 - Love this, and that'd be Cyster-in-law, innit N?
Ep 9 - I'm half tempted to say that everyone watches the scene (snacks are provided), and it's played out like a 2-player Mortal Kombat match. Yes to the classical "Bite Me" being used. I'd throw in the suggestion of it being raven wings.
Ep Epilogue - Uzi: A winner is you. The rich may be lessened, but more can be removed. Nature can heal. Nate, Velma, Jewel, and Cyn are all adorable. Sadly Uzi'll never be able to go home again... wait what's that purple portal opening up below her?
Fade to black as Uzi looks down.

In August 2016, we celebrated with workers, families, unions and colleagues when the City of Vancouver voted to become a living wage employer. After years of organizing, this vote enshrined the right for all those working for the city, including contracted and subcontracted workers, to be compensated for their labour at or above the living wage. In that moment, the city became the largest living wage employer in Canada, a win for a more livable Vancouver. In a city where it can be hard to find connection and support, people are working together to find livable solutions. However, in January 2023, Vancouver city council voted in a closed-door meeting to end the City of Vancouver’s certification as a living wage employer, a tremendous loss for every working family across B.C. We believe that anyone who works for the City of Vancouver should be able to afford to live in Vancouver. Being a living wage employer is the best way to guarantee that an organization’s workers and contractors can do that.

Pick a card - Career Advice
(Escolha uma carta - Conselho de Carreira)
If you want a reading on your energy, just schedule a paid reading with me in DM!
(Se quiser uma leitura na sua energia, basta agendar uma leitura paga comigo na DM!)
If that found you, it was for a reason. Take what resonates and leave what doesn’t resonate.
(Se isso encontrou você, é por uma razão. Pegue o que ressoar e deixe o que não ressoa.)

Card 1 - Maybe you are from the sign of the earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), the advice you need to know is that you need to evaluate your position in society. But what kind of position? Your willingness to help people and the ability to receive, also evaluate your available resources. In other words, you need to seek balance in these two energies. Maybe you've been giving yourself too much and haven't received anything in return. Maybe you have received too much and are not doing anything in return. It is to seek balance and be assertive in the evaluations, especially in your career. If you are changing careers, evaluate the pros and cons or if you are changing jobs, evaluate if you are giving yourself too much and the salary is not compensating or if you do a lot for that co-worker who asks too much and does not give you anything in return or if you are the one who asks too much and does not donate anything in return. Just evaluate this and understand the limits and set limits and evaluate your attitudes and people's attitudes depending on the situation and find a balance.)
Card 2 - It may be time for you to let yourself go, be inactive and wait. Because you need to observe things from a different perspective and find alternative solutions in relation to a particular situation of your career or in your career in general or about your job or about your career-related studies and to know what can be done.
