Adam's harbinger in [UC] is a direct reflection of a prior version of (my) Adam whose cycle ended and then repeated again in the main time line as seen on this blog. So essentially, it's the prototype Adam to mine's actual time line which failed before main time line started back up again under different circumstances for a chance to prevent the same collapse.

Being a reflection only means he's not actually that previous world's Adam, but is molded after his image and direct likeness, and can recall his memories of the failed cycle he's representing via the cores from God's purgatory beast.

His core's power is derived from the spirit of Wormwood- a star that falls to Earth in apocalyptic times and poisons Earth's rivers. "The star called Wormwood seems to denote a mighty prince, or power of the air, the instrument, in its fall."

His title is "Adam: Son of the Red Earth" and in any dealings he's ever called to attend outside of being called on by God to help purge timelines, he's referred to as "Red".

The soft glow of candlelight flickered around Cedric’s chamber, casting long shadows across the room. The air was warm, comfortable, filled with the faint scent of aged parchment and brewing potions. Y/N lay sprawled across Cedric’s plush bed, book in hand, idly flipping through pages while awaiting his return from a long day of assisting King Roland.

Cedric sighed, pulling off his robe with practiced ease, the heavy fabric slipping from his shoulders. Y/N glanced up just as he let his vest and button-up fall next, revealing his bare back. Their breath hitched.

There, inked across his pale skin, was an intricate tattoo—a circle of ancient spell symbols wrapping around the center of his back. And within it, a raven, wings spread wide, as though mid-flight.

Y/N sat up, setting the book aside. “Cedric…” Their voice was quiet, reverent, as if afraid to disturb the moment.

Cedric stiffened slightly, a faint shiver running down his spine. “W-what?” He glanced over his shoulder, cheeks already flushing.

Moving closer, Y/N let their fingers lightly trace one of the symbols, marveling at the precision of the design. “I never knew you had a tattoo,” they murmured, letting their fingertips drift toward the raven. The detail was stunning, each feather etched with such care that it almost looked alive.

Cedric swallowed hard, his muscles tensing beneath their touch. “It’s—It’s not exactly something I flaunt,” he stammered, his voice catching as Y/N’s fingertips ghosted over the raven’s wing. “It’s… a remembrance. For Wormwood.”

Y/N’s expression softened. They knew the history between Cedric and his former familiar—how Wormwood had once been his trusted companion before betraying him. To carry that memory so permanently on his skin… it spoke volumes.

Cedric gasped softly as Y/N traced along the edge of the raven, barely suppressing a shudder. “You’re—ah—making this rather difficult,” he muttered, his ears burning.

Y/N chuckled. “Difficult?”

He turned slightly, shooting them a look that was meant to be annoyed but came off more flustered. “I—It tickles,” he admitted, voice laced with something shy, something vulnerable.

Y/N smirked and tugged him toward the bed, guiding him gently until he was laying across their lap, arms folded beneath his chin. “Then let’s make it worse,” they teased, resuming their slow, feather-light tracing.

Cedric groaned into the sheets, but he didn’t protest. His breath hitched when Y/N’s fingers followed the curve of his shoulder blades, dipped along the runic circle, then glided down the spine of the raven. His body melted into their touch, tension unraveling with every lazy caress.

“You’re enjoying this,” Y/N observed, voice full of amusement.

Cedric huffed, though his tone lacked any real annoyance. “I will neither confirm nor deny.”

Y/N grinned, leaning down to press a kiss between his shoulder blades. “Good. Because I’m not stopping anytime soon.”

Cedric let out a quiet, contented sigh, completely at their mercy. Maybe, just maybe, he didn’t mind.

In 'The Wishing Well', Wormwood spent a good chunk of that episode chasing after kitty-Sofia to steal her amulet. He even gleefully made his intentions very clear to her, when she tried asking him for help after Cedric failed to recognize her and irritably tried to shoo her out of his workshop ("Well, of course... not. But I will take that precious amulet of yours!").

Not counting 'The Butterfly Princess' (because as far as Amber and Sofia thought, Cedric needed the amulet as an important ingredient in the potion he promised to help Amber reverse the 'unexpected' permanent effect of the spell he originally gave her for her butterfly costume, and they likely thought Wormwood tried to take the amulet then for that reason), that was the only time Wormwood ever tried stealing the amulet (and obviously Sofia wouldn't learn of Cedric's intentions until much later in 'Day of the Sorcerers', and Wormwood even gleefully rubbed the truth in her face when she caught him setting out to take over Enchancia). And yet... Wormwood trying to steal her amulet in 'The Wishing Well' never got brought up afterward by either Sofia or Clover (who was there, and helped her evade Wormwood), nor did they ever confront Wormy about it that we saw. Both of them acted like his seemingly odd behavior never happened, and so did he, including when they interacted with him in future episodes.

I once read a fanfic that took place right after 'The Butterfly Princess' where Sofia told Cedric that Wormwood refused to give back the amulet when the girls tried to tell him they didn't need Cedric's help in turning Amber back to normal after all (because Amber decided the right thing to do would be telling the Fairies that she cheated on her costume instead and have them help her), and Cedric hastily was all "Oh, ravens are obsessed with shiny things just like the gryphons are; naughty Wormwood just got carried away!" Well, I hc that Sofia told Cedric about Wormwood's weird behavior after 'The Wishing Well', and Cedric gave her the exact same excuse (and I also think that either Clover was there when he told her this, or she told him what Cedric said afterward; in any case, I hc that Clover never trusted Wormwood at all, before *and* especially after that)!

I don't, however, think that Sofia told Cedric that she accidentally got turned into a cat or anything about the wishing well (she likely left that part out). The reason I don't is because if Cedric learned about the wishing well's existence- or ever knew about it at any point in his life, pre-redemption- he likely would not have been able to resist the temptation of wishing for the kingdom to be his (as it is, I hc the wishing well was a shameful secret Roland kept to himself ever since he lost his first wife).

Do you have hcs on Cedric and Wormwood?

A few, yeah! Some of them are kinda random, and some are related to each other. So um. Here you go.

Cedric got Wormwood for his 10th birthday at his sorcerer's ball. Yes, I hc he did have a sorcerer's ball, but it was not as grand as Cordelia's, Goodwyn not wanting Cedric to embarrass himself in front of a huge crowd like he had embarrassed Cordelia. He was initially against the idea of a sorcerer's ball at all, but was eventually convinced by Winifred + didn't want to forego an old tradition (plus it would probably look worse for him).

Wormwood and Cedric were much better friends when they were younger.

Wormwood would constantly defend Cedric against the other animals when they were at Hexley Hall, and he encouraged Cedric to pursue his evil dreams when Cedric first started getting such ideas mostly just to prove to the others how good his master was.

When they were younger, Wormwood would also constantly bring Cedric small trinkets he'd find (like real life ravens do).

Cedric initially truly resented Wormwood for leaving him. Which, understandable, considering Wormwood threw away their friendship just so he could serve a powerful evil master. He didn't realise how he, too, had been a bad friend. It took him a long time to realise that.

While working with Prisma, Wormwood constantly found himself thinking about his old life, complaining about certain things that were different, but never wanting to admit to himself that he missed it, or Cedric.

Cedric got a new animal helper eventually, a raven (yes, I headcanon this so that Cedric will be constantly reminded of Wormwood, okay?). He vows to try and be a better friend to his new animal helper than he was to Wormwood.

Wormwood's lifespan was magically lengthened due to him being a sorcerer's animal helper. I haven't really thought this headcanon out properly, although it would probably mean his lifespan got shortened again after he left Cedric.

so? I've actually done that! can't say I'm entirely glad with the colors, and I didn't manage to put all the stuff on the art, but yeah here it is.

the explanation of the choice of the stuff:

sable marten (on the left) represents Bump himself. a little (yet dangerous in its own ways) carnivorous mustelid mf with cool dark fur, which is considered as one of the most valuable and beautiful furs? hell yeah. it was a little bit hard to do the coloring, because the darkest shade of real sable martens' fur is actually dark brown. I tried to mix the natural appearance of the animal with Bump's hair color and make it as realistic as possible, so here we go.

biblically accurate Frewin doesn't exist, he can't hurt you. okay, maybe I should not try to make that adorable little imp to look semi-realistic. but yeah, Frewin.

wormwood. according to some sources, this plant symbolizes bitterness filling the world during dark and troubled times. as I know, Bump's childhood was in the same time with the start of Belos's regime and things happening before it; could a person who witnessed all the bitterness themselves and was affected by it bring that bitterness through all their lifetime?

also, I personally hc that Bump smells like wormwood. also ink, paper and a little bit wood due to Frewin.

green & purple as the background. light green is the color of Hieronymus's spell circles. dark greyish purple? genuinely dunno, just associated it with him in some ways.

shattered razor blade. as I've already said, he was born in troubled times. he needed to be protected... and he weren't. his nails were always naturally hard and a little bit too sharp, so maybe an extra little bit of sharpness would be good, Hiero thought? so, tiny and extremely sharp pieces of a blade. his first weapon. he needed that.

the bandage roll. he's pretty much familiar with bandages, he used stuff like that multiple times. he still keeps extra bandages and bandaids somewhere, in case someone else would need that.

the dagger. the same dagger he brought to dissect Luz in that episode, the same dagger he literally keeps somewhere on the shelf in his office. the first thing he appeared with.

magpie feathers. also, that birb is one of my associations with Bump. it's the bird who spreads the word; and I think he has the way with words. also the birb has cool jet black head and even cooler long blueish tail. it makes a bit disturbing yet funny noises. I believe in magpie Bump supremacy.

that blue principal uniform thingie? well, I think it doesn't need explanation.

the stress toy. I think the reason the same stress toy that was exploded by Eda magically appeared in one of the following scenes was that the vice principal just had a few of those octopus stress toys. maybe it was his personal favorite one. feeling like he had/has A LOT of fidget toys of all kinds, and still uses his stress toys. sometimes Frewin steals them.

that badge he wore during Them's the Breaks, Kid.

the tiny maroon thing? I dunno what it is but I like it. Bump keeps it in the office for some reason:

the Hooty patch. it was probably given to him by Lilith; her and Bump have pretty good relationship (Lilith was his student, he's, like, very proud of her. also they greet each other during the Watching and Dreaming finale), and I think he had enough bad experience with Eda and her pranks to not take any stuff she gives to him.

the blue worm on a string, Frewin's favorite toy. Bump doesn't remember when and where he has gotten it, but they both like it.

the notebook. Hieronymus has been using such notebooks for a lot of time, I guess it started when he was the vice principal. he just writes The Stuff there, sometimes notes, sometimes venting of some sort, sometimes even a kind of a diary. at first the notebooks' sheets were mostly empty: Bump was afraid of Faust finding them. he keeps a whole stack of those notebooks somewhere to read them someday; that 'day' has never happened. once he'll do it: tomorrow, tomorrow again, the next week... well, for now the notebooks are waiting their time.

the Abomination goo. I don't think he was in the Coven willingly and really had the choice of what Coven to be in, due to the fact that he has used the Coven magic like two times on screen (the first time the goo was the closest thing in his reach, the second when he needed to carry a heavy thing). but yeah, here it is.

he got his sigil when he was a teen, everyone was sigiled randomly no matter of the age back then; that was a messy time of reforms, after all. Hiero was basically forced to be a member of a random Coven. when he was in his early 20s, studying for being a teacher (the subject was not related to any Coven), he tried to change his coven to the Oracle, because he thought he'd be better in the OC than in the Coven he didn't choose to be in. well, he didn't succeed. Bump has learned to find other ways of using magic, and he rarely used his Coven one. when sigil removing became accessible, Bump was one of the first ones to remove the sigil. it was risky; Hieronymus was glad though.

the papers. doesn't need explanation as well, I guess.

the glove, the single one that he was wearing during the Watching and Dreaming finale. I really like the idea of Bump wearing the single gardening glove on his right hand, so the left wrist - now without a sigil - stays uncovered. show that you're free now. tell your past oppressors to suck a d-ck. yeahhh.

also the glove is like the last thing he has been seen with throughout the show. starting with a dagger, ending with a gardening glove.

to say in conclusion: I've tried to make this piece as much non-headcanonical as I could and I've fallen miserably. so instead of it you have the whole stash of my hcs. haha hehe

he works as an exotic dancer in a supernatural strip club in vegas. he's their top dancer because everyone likes the idea of an angel falling getting corrupted little by little by the pull of sex and glitter. he's also a supernatural bounty hunter...

he has 4 wings, the largest two are pure white, while the lower set are a soft tawny colour. he's fully able to fly and has hollow bones like a bird.

loves burgers but will cry if there's any form of salad on them, he's straight up yeeting lettuce into the bin.

he's that guy that will text you at 3am to go grab pancakes and a milkshake, still covered in glitter as he flies you to the roof so you can watch the stars and say every passing plane is a ufo.

morrigan is such a fucking edge lord in this game, she absolutely gatekeeps what she listens to but it’s pretty basic alternative stuff. arctic monkeys but only am and fsvorite worst nightmare, mindless self indulgence, a lot of joy division (she absolutely is the type of person to go up to someone in an unknown pleasures shirt and ask them to name three songs), some nirvana, pixies, etc. her favorite songs are arabella by arctic monkeys, back to the old house by the smiths, and probably mascara by deftones. she doesn’t listen to metal a lot but has a few deftones and lamb of god songs on her playlists.

leliana is trying to recreate her life in this game. she’s running from a lot of things, but also beginning to reflect. since she hasn’t been through as much as she has in inquisition, her music taste is much more relaxed here. i think she’d love dreamy shit, like the cocteau twins and the sundays especially. she listens to some lana del rey as well, mostly just nfr/lust for life. there’s a band called another sunny day i feel like she’d fuck with a lot too. her favorite songs are goodbye by the sundays and white mustang by lana del rey.

alistair listens to top 40 and nothing else

origins is my least favorite so i can’t think of much else for companions, i have the lowest time played as well so 🤷‍♂️

varric has the most dad music taste you could imagine. all classic rock, nothing else. i can very clearly imagine him cruising around blasting ac/dc and kiss.

fenris doesn’t listen to music, he just sort of goes along with what the others are playing. he likes slower songs, they help calm him down. if romanced, he ends up listening to the songs hawke likes and developing the same music taste as them and i think it would be a connection for them

isabela has some rare genuine self awareness in the music she listens to. she listens to lana del rey and marina and the diamonds, and that’s about it. her favorite albums from lana are born to die, paradise, and ultraviolence. her favorite marina albums are electra heart and froot. her favorite songs are i’m a ruin/rootless by marina, ride by ldr, and the other woman by ldr as well. hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have is the only later lana song she like LOVES. basically 2014 tumblr taste but oh well

merrill listens to mainly instrumental music, either classical guitar or orchestral music. it helps her focus and calms her down quite a bit. she also really enjoys folk music. some of her favorite albums are shaken by a low sound by crooked still, someday we will foresee obstacles by syd matters, and dear wormwood by the oh hellos.

anders is also an angst fest. he listens to a lot of the smiths, mother mother (and hes very particular about being a “real fan” and knowing them before they blew up) and some nu metal as well. his favorite songs are this charming man by the smiths, 7 words by deftones, and you should all be murdered by another sunny day. calm me down by mother mother as well.

aveline listens to ed sheeran and coldplay exclusively. i don’t know why i feel this way but i do and im gonna leave it at that

leliana has been through so much over the last ten years, and the music she listens to reflects that. she doesn’t listen to music much anymore, but has a couple songs that she listens to. her taste is a lot heavier now- deftones, lamb of god, and some death metal as well. no specific bands, just whatever is the loudest and heaviest. i hc that morrigan showed her a few smiths songs during origins, and the one that stuck with her most is that joke isn’t funny anymore. she listens to it a lot, and relates to it a lot. it’s her favorite song. a few honorable mentions to that are sextape by deftones, and blood of the scribe by lamb of god. sometimes, she listens to the songs she loved back in dao times and gets lost in the memories of that time. her favorite song for that is the greatest by lana del rey.

josephine is mainly a classical/opera listener. i cannot picture her listening to anything else. maybe sometimes she gets angry, or exhausted/fed up with her job, and listens to the things she considers to be “heavy” but it’s something like acdc which she considers to be basically death metal because it has an audible electric guitar.

the chargers just blast dad music 24/7, along with varric/sera/blackwell.

cassandra absolutely listens to love songs all the time. she falls asleep listening to a playlist filled with songs like video games/love song/without you/lucky ones by lana. i feel like she was absolutely a tumblr girl and never grew out of that music taste despite presenting as an absolute hardass.

dorian adores artists like kylie minogue, lady gaga, etc. his favorite songs are shampain by marina, aura by lady gaga, and 911 also by gaga lmao. he also for SURE owns a justice for artpop shirt.

First of all, thank you so much for the shout-out! I'm glad you enjoyed how I made Wormwood more nuanced and analyzed him in my story, but the credit should go to @bettathanyou and @fantadym, since that whole view on Wormwood actually came from them. I thought it was brilliant, so I incorporated it with their permission.

I agree, the idea of Wormwood being the result of that "rock to raven" spell makes his betrayal twice as heartbreaking for the reasons you said! And I adore your hc that Cedric struggled with the spell for hours and hours at first, before finally creating baby Wormy himself; I can only imagine how proud and thrilled he'd be, and it's probably why he'd be even more fond of him than if he actually chose him or was given to him at school! And in a way- as much as I believe Cedric did genuinely care about him and considered him a friend- it would make Cedric subconsciously taking him for granted/expecting Wormwood to just follow his master in whatever he did even more understandable than if he'd acquired him naturally, because of that tremendous sense of pride he always felt in successfully creating Wormwood with magic (especially considering his low self-esteem with how much he struggled with magic ever since the Incident), which I think would have subconsciously translated into seeing him as his property (for lack of a better word) and also subconsciously thinking Wormwood owed him his complete allegiance after giving him life.

...Does that make sense? 😅 I'm not good at explaining things.

In 'Hexley Hall', it was stated by both Cedric and Wormwood that he got paired up with Cedric at school. I always interpreted that as the students being given their own familiar (whether they were just assigned one or got to pick their own), as part of the curriculum or whatever. But I suppose there was nothing explicitly in that to really debunk the idea that the students got paired up with their own familiar through a transformation spell.

I think I did very recently read somewhere that the show's creator Craig Gerber debunked the theory that Wormy came from the spell Cedric mentioned at the end of 'Substitute Cedric'. It is strange that they'd put that in there if it wasn't meant to imply that, though!

Cedric and Wormwood's childhood together

In the "Substitute Cedric", at the end of the episode, Cedric talks about teaching the royal prep students a spell that can turn rocks into ravens. The fandom also noticed this, because somehow it may be implying that Wormwood was a rock before. And I also believe that this is true, or else they wouldn't have put that in the episode because it would cause misinterpretation of their characters- there's a huge chance of this being true.

Cedric knows the spell, which means that he did it before. The only raven we have in the show is Wormwood, who happens to be his familiar. So like. Okay.

CEDRIC DID THE SPELL AND MADE WORMWOOD. It's not like my first headcanon: that they met when Cedric was young and still at Hexley Hall, and someone in the school staff (because it's an advenced spell, Cedric can't cast it) did a spell who would guarantee Wormy's life while Cedric is still alive (or else he would already be dead by now, he's a bird, there needs to have a spell somewhere) because he's his familiar now. I believe that everyone needed to find a creature to be their familiar at some point at Hexley Hall, in the first years (because having an animal assistant is necessary). But at first I was thinking like "no, okay, Cedric found Wormwood somewhere and brought him home, they did the spell and now he's his familiar" but some days later I watched that episode and found out about the "turning rocks into ravens spell"

You know what this means? Cedric literally made Wormwood. He gave him life after a rock. So his betrayal gets more painful and has a whole different meaning.

I guess we can compare this situation to a son turning against his father, somehow. I don't believe that Wormwood sees him as a father, actually very from that. He just thinks that he was a middle schooler who cast a spell on a rock and since then Wormwood is his familiar, that's all. They grew up together, more like brothers or "best (worst) friends" I would say. @shychick-52 has a good character analysis of him in her fic "The Master Wand", that explains that Wormwood's anger comes from the fact that he was just as miserable as Cedric, but Cedric got help. He got out of the dark, but he didn't held Wormwoods hand (wing) to pull him from there too. While he was getting better and being influenced by Sofia to be a good person, the same didn't happened to Wormwood, who was so deep in his hatred, insecurity (not getting other people's approval and believing that just being nice wasn't enough), revenge that he didn't change his mind. While Cedric had Sofia to help him, Wormwood had no one. It was assumed that just because Cedric got better, his raven would get better too, because of couse, a familiar obeys and thinks the same way as his master, right? He could have been saved by Cedric or Clover. But that didn't happened. And I still think he deserves a redemption arc btw, or at least an episode.

But yes, the thought about Wormwood being created after a rock by Cedric it's implied in stf and it makes the whole situation more tense. Imagine how Wormwood was feeling, imagine how Cedric was feeling. Wormwood's reasons are understandable but it's a little weird the fact that he choose to betray Cedric so fast with someone who he doesn't even know yet (Prisma). It was REALLY FAST. He didn't think twice. And it confuses me why he choose to be so many years by Cedric's side, when he could have just ran away like that at any moment. If he always thought that Cedric was an idiot then he should have ran to another master years ago, because as we can see, he doesn't even think twice before leaving him.

When Cedric says something like "what about all those years of friendship" it's not just about their friendship. (Headcanon part) It's about when the whole class needed to turn a rock into an animal to make that animal their familiar, for each animal there was a different spell and all his classmates got the best ones first: owls, cats. He got one of the last ones, a raven, the one no one wanted, just like him.

And he was the only one who repeatedly was making feathers, vegetables, while everyone was laughing, making fun of him and whispering about "him being him" again, looking at him with disgust, asking why he was still trying- and the situation was starting to get humiliating. Everyone had already finished. And after so many tries, everyone looking at him with a judgemental look like he was in the middle of the room (just like how happened at the incident, he remembers that really well), Cedric gave up.

Maybe he watched while his teacher did the "familiar will live until their master is alive" spell in each one of the students, making sure that they all were now officially connected. But Cedric didn't had one, so he was the only one who just watched in silence. His teacher went to him, and as always he told Cedric to keep trying later, which made him feel a little better, but not a lot.

He kept trying, trying and trying after school, maybe at night (Hexley Hall boarding school headcanon time). And when he finally did it, the rock turned into a baby bird, and Cedric started crying out of happiness. He was able to make a real crow- and the baby was just in the palm of his hand making little noises and looking at him with a confused look, with not even a thought going through his mind. The baby raven didn't knew a thing but Cedric loved him already, just like the feeling of getting your first dog but this time with the whole stituation of the spell, Cedric being pressured and judged, and now he finally did it.

He immediately knew that this bird would be his best friend. He was a little weird looking, just like a little fluff ball, but Cedric was a little weird too, that was one more thing that they had in common. And he was so proud and loved his new bird so much that he wouldn't mind even if he didn't had feathers. What happened was that in the next day everyone went to class with their new familiars and Cedric was there with his baby bird, all proud of himself. Everyone saw this and some even thought that he got the bird somewhere, that he was pretending the spell worked just so that he wouldn't make a fool out of himself in today's class. But somehow they proved it was true, or the teacher just simply believed in him, the thing was that he finally had his familiar and the spell was casted on him to make his familiar permanently. And since then he carried the bird everywhere.

He gave him the name Wormwood after the herb. Maybe there was a funny situation with a wormwood and the baby bird involved, and that's when Cedric decided his name. But the thing is: they were always together since their childhood. I'm not really giving a deep dive into their relationship right now, so there's no conclusion to this post, but I wanted to share my headcanon. I made a drawing yesterday and their childhood together is in my mind ever since.

Headcanon

Wormwood is a descendant of Maleficent's pet raven.

But whether he is or not, I hc he is Wormwood's biggest hero and greatest inspiration (the way Cedric idolizes Merlin), and Wormwood had always greatly envied him for being the familiar of the Mistress of All Evil herself... which is why in the finale he was THRILLED for the opportunity to serve Vor, a similarly powerful, wicked sorceress (who was just as proud to be evil for the sake of evil as Maleficent was).
