SO! Long time coming updates but here's how I'll roll from now on to hopefully avoid stressing myself out with big numbers all over again:

On Tumblr. 𓂅 01. I'm going to softblock everyone who hasn't attempted to interact ic with me since 2024 started! Huge numbers stress me out and as much as I adore reading you guys' portrayals, I unfortunately think my mental health will thrive more if I keep my dash solely to the people I actively write with. I'll start sbing people this Monday, so if you want to write with me you have until then to shoot me an ic ask or tag me in a starter or what have you! If you don't and I sb though, you're free to refollow whenever our muses mesh better and you think we'll write together, absolutely no hard feelings involved! Maybe we can't come up with any interesting ideas for our current muses and that's okay, who knows what the future holds! 𓂅 02. On the note of writing. I'm going to go through my inbox & drafts and clean out everything I don't have muse for, and then on January 2025 I might clean my inbox out entirely, which means whatever's still in there 4 months from now will likely be purged to allow me to focus better instead of constantly scrolling through hundreds of asks I can't bring my muses to reply to. Next year is going to be my last year of uni, so I'll try to declutter this blog as much as possible to help me remain active on here even while doing internships & writing my dissertation! 𓂅 03. I might delete some muses off my roster, namely those I rarely or never use, but if our muses are intertwined in any shape or form or if you ever feel like rping with them, I am willing to write them for/with you! The main reason I'll be taking them off the main roster (and maybe make a tiny list of muses I only write for certain people's portrayals so you don't think you're losing your marbles when seeing me rp muses I don't ~officially~ rp) is because I won't write them for everyone who follows me anymore. That said, if I take them off because I've temporarily lost muse for them (<-it happens sometimes), we can still talk about them/plot for them in dms! The dynamics I've built on here mean a ton to the both of us, so I'll ALWAYS be down to talk about them and help you shape your muse's main/verse lore if it includes/involves mine (i.e affiliates)! 𓂅 04. Now on my end of starting interactions, I'll begin sending people stuff more regularly! That includes prompted memes whenever I see any that fit the bill even if it means sending 30 memes in a row (you NEVER have to reply to all, or even any, if you're not feeling them so please don't feel pressured to! I just want to give people options to pick from if they ever feel a lot of inspo for a particular muse/verse/dynamic), unprompted memes if I happen to come up with scenarios that I'd like to explore (again no pressure to reply to them!) and random starters if I think the ideas I have would do better as threads than one-off interactions (these will probs only happen if we've plotted and I know for a fact that you're alright w the ideas I'm presenting, so expect me to manifest into your dms before I write any random starters!). I'll make sure to ask this of every one of you individually, but for those who are alright with it, I'll also start tagging you in things that remind me of our muses' dynamic, and/or (depending on what you're comfy with) have my muse talk about your muse in my interactions w others!

On Discord. 𓂅 01. I'll be deleting the people I haven't talked to in ages and/or who show no interest in talking to me! Talking includes both chatting/rambling and plotting, so if you want to escape The Purge you can shoot me a message with a cat video or a plot idea or whatever else's on your mind at the time! I know there are a few people I haven't replied to yet so dw you guys are NOT getting deleted by any meansdajsdh I promise I'll get to every single dm I owe before uni starts and then make a regular effort to respond in time to everyone! ✧Or maybe an author, or a librarian, or a poet- point is! You love to write and create this silly funny stories for all of your friends to see.

✧Some fun concepts for a character like this could be a bee cause spelling bee! Or a mouse because library mouse (or just whatever you like)

✧We know in the show there was storybook sections. I think a lot of these would be narrated and a lot of times even created by you!

✧I can picture your segment starting with the camera focusing on you reading or writing, then inviting the viewer to follow the story along. As you may imagine for a kids show they all had a neat message at the end.

✧Oh, and another resident smarty pants! I can think of some chapters or scenes where you teach spelling and grammar. "No, is not t-h-e-y-r-e, they're birthday, but t-h-e-i-r, their birthday!" (or maybe like me you suck at spelling, so ignore this lol)

✧For outfits i can suggest plaid pattern, glasses, a vest or maybe a cardigan! You can either go for a well put together smart little guy or a mess of a bookworm (that's like a scale on my head.)

✧Sally and you could be good friends now that i think about it! She loooves to make her friends perform her plays and you're just the perfect helper for that.

✧If you're big into reading, or trying to publish a book or any other sort of thing then you would see Eddie pretty often because he would always have a package or letter for you.

✧He's a bit of a forgetful klutz so you always make sure to help him a little by organizing a calendar for him! Writing down stuff you know for sure he'll forget.

✧Yes it makes him a little bit embarrassed to say the least but he's infinitely grateful of your help.

✧Every single morning in his usual route if he has the time, he always goes past your house to say hello and catch up on what you have been writing! Eddie is interested in the story you have and always listens to it with so much focus, almost as if you were telling him the hottest latest gossip of them all.

✧But is all worth it at the end of the day. Eddie always has time for you and your rambles. Only problem is he likes everything you write so he's not the best person if you're searching for criticism!

✧As the most prominent character of the series the plot follows Wally, and that's a way you two end up talking so much for a starters.

✧Any time Wally is staring at his canvas with no idea of what to draw he thinks "Well, they surely will have an idea" and go search for you (that is if you're not already there).

✧Thinking about how many chapters could follow the formula of you and Wally brainstorming ideas for a story, with him drawing what you narrate (and we come back to the storybook sections of the show!)

✧He would ask you "what are you doing today, neighbor?" to which you respond that you are writing about something! He asks what, you respond, he asks for more context of your story and- well now you're infodumping to him telling him all about what you have so far.

✧Oh but he would definitely be the type to draw your characters because "they are a lot of fun".

✧Picturing calm afternoons consisting of the two of you doing parallel play and every so often showing the other your progress <3

I thought of a HC request, if that's fine by you: the Warlords each receive a letter signed by an anonymous person saying that "The most important person in their lives is being held hostage."

However, it turns that no one was held hostage, and it was all just an experiment done by MC and Sasuke. I saw this in a comic book story years ago.

Hi Anon!  Thank you for stopping into the ol’ ask box. “The most important person in their lives is being held hostage”…? Yikes, even as an experiment that’s cruel (especially as an experiment). So… ok, I’m going to actually acquit Sasuke of this…. Even though he’s not the most emotionally adept, he’s smart enough to know that this kind of note is not the sort of thing you do in Sengoku.

HOWEVER...

We’ve seen in several event routes, that MC, especially if she is feeling inadequate, or jealous or whatever, WOULD indeed do something like this. In event routes, we’ve seen her try to make her suitor jealous, followed them, tried to give Masamune alcohol, considered giving Mitsuhide an aphrodisiac…

Yeah, if this is an event version of MC, she would do this. The question is… does she send the message and hide, HOPING that her suitor will think she is the hostage, OR does she send the message and then stand next to the warlord as he opens it, to see the reaction?

Let’s just assume she’s hiding.

Nobunaga – Opens the letter, is momentarily worried, but then he notices the top of MC’s head over the edge of the tenshu balcony. He pitches his voice loudly and announces, “Oh no! My WIFE is being held hostage.” There is a shocked whisper of “wife?” from outside, and then a scared squeak because MC loses her grip and almost falls. Nobunaga rushes out to the balcony and pulls her back to safety. Then he assures her that she is the love of his life, and makes her promise to never do anything that stupid again.

Hideyoshi – Panics. But panics in such complete brain melting gibberish, that MC is unable to tell whether or not he is worried about her…. or Nobunaga.

Mitsuhide – Realizes instantly that MC wrote the letter, and – while creeping carefully toward where MC is hiding – says, “Well… that’s way too much to pay for MC. Guess I’m going to just die a sad, lonely, man.” Then he pulls her out of her hiding place and says, “Dear me, I’ve found a tricky little mouse who apparently wants to play games tonight.” Follows that up with some suggestions about what kind of games they could play.

Masamune – Immediately takes off intending to rescue MC. MC has to chase after him to assure him that she is ok after all.  After his initial relief passes, he promises her she is the most important person in his life, and makes her promise never to do anything that stupid again.

Ieyasu –  “My sourdough starter!” Runs back to his manor to check on it.

Mitsunari – The ransom note gets mixed in with all the loose papers in his room and he never sees it.

Keiji – Plots a daring rescue. Writes a poem about the daring rescue. Puts the poem about the daring rescue to music. Hires a group of travelling players to act out daring rescue. Forgets to actually pull off daring rescue.

Ranmaru – Is doing his secret squirrel spy ninja stuff around the castle when he runs across MC hiding before he even gets the note.

Kennyo – Because everyone is important to Kennyo, he spends the rest of the week checking up on every person he knows to make sure they are ok.

Motonari – Catches MC writing the ransom note and eagerly volunteers to help her carrying the abduction.

Kicho – “And…?”

Kenshin –  If you’ve ever wondered why today, Kasugayama Castle is in ruins… well, wonder no more.

Kanetsugu – “Kenshin!” Then realizes that no force in the world could take Kenshin hostage, and hunts down MC’s hiding place. Takes fifteen minutes to icily explain to her why this was a cruel joke, but as soon as she starts crying and apologizing and vowing never to do such a stupid thing again, he gathers her in his arms and assures her that he loves her very much.

Shingen – Reads note, and recognizes MC’s handwriting. It takes him no time whatsoever to locate her. He then spends the rest of the night assuring her how much he loves her, how much she means to him (granted, he probably didn’t need the entire night, but Shingen is thorough).

Yoshimoto – MC realizes that she cannot do this to Yoshimoto – he’s suffered enough in his route and she doesn’t want to push him over the edge. So instead she sends him on a scavenger hunt, and when he follows all the clues, he finds MC at the end, lying in his bed, wearing only rose petals. She spends the rest of the night convincing him how much she loves him.

Yukimura – Enlists Sasuke’s help. Sasuke reads the note. “Wait, I believe I read this in a comic book somewhere.” He helps Yuki find MC where she is hiding. When the inevitable argument follows Yuki’s, “Dummy! How could you do such a thing. You know I love you, right?”  Sasuke slinks away.

Sasuke – Is pretty sure he read about this in a comic book, but goes to Azuchi to check on Ieyasu just in case.

hi there! gotta be honest here, i have no clue what bandwagons are ( i tried looking it up but all i gathered was that it's something used in twitter rp ) so i'm not exactly sure this'll be the right answer. but i hope this will be of help for you anyway and is what you're looking for. if not, feel free to send me another ask and i'll try to give a better explanation.

after you've set up your blog and gathered some followers, there are two easy ways to get interactions going. technically there are more, but these two are the ones that work the quickest and make you start doing stuff on your blog.

starter calls. make a post titled starter call in which you give people a chance to request a starter from you. they can like or reply to that post, which in turn shows you they're interested in writing with you. now you can either reach out to plot with them ( if you want to ― usually, starter calls are more of a spontaneous thing that isn't really planned out, although it can eventually evolve into something deeper ) or just make a new post / starter for them. you can keep it simple with just a line of dialogue ( remember to make open dialogue and give your partner something to work with; roleplaying is a back-and-forth that requires some kind of effort being put into it ) or write maybe a paragraph or two ― whatever you feel like doing. it's best to tag the person the starter is for somewhere in the post ( you can do that by using @ and putting the username right after the symbol ) so they'll hopefully see your post. from there on, they reblog your post with their reply, and afterward, you reblog your reply to their post, and so on and so on.

memes. another easy way to get things going is by reblogging memes / sentence starters to your blog. you can find a variety of them either by looking up rp memes ( or if you want something more specific, e.g. angst starters, try looking up that ) and all you'll have to do is to click on the reblog button and put them on your blog. now your followers can send you one or multiple of these through your inbox ( which reminds me that you have to make sure that is turned on. to check that, go to your blog settings, scroll down until you see the switch titled "let people ask questions" and make sure it's on ) for you to reply to. as for your reply, you can either directly do that by accessing your inbox ( if you're on desktop, it's the little mail symbol on top / on mobile you can access it by clicking the profile button on the far right, then going to the settings at the top right and clicking on inbox ) and clicking answer or you can make a completely new post in which you'll copy and paste the sentence starter that was sent to you, and then do basically the same thing i explained for the starter call. write your reply, tag the person who sent it to you in it, and let the reply thread begin.

anyway, it might seem a little daunting at first but once you've got the hang of it, it's really simple and quite fun.

Lort, I have soooo many muses across many blogs; it's vile. I will only comment on Reno since, y'know, I'm filling this out for bitterarcs. In general, I have loved FF7 for a long ass time, and it might have been the second verse I ever wrote in. I like Reno because he reminds me a lot of myself while still being completely different from me. I get to tap into comedy, my macabre interest in violent/dark themes, and I get to really challenge myself to think not like me. Reno is an excellent mixed bag of a lot of compelling elements which prevents me from getting bored writing him . . unlike other muses I have. I was very happy that were was some FF community on tumblr, so naturally I had to pick my favourite character from FF7. Also there weren't many other Renos around, so I was like LET'S DO IT.

Sometimes I am in the mood for something lighter, but I usually get over that within the hour. I think happy things are boring for the longevity of a plot. Also smut for the sake of smut when it adds nothing to the plot.

Yes, totally. Rellik is a super homebody and Things last longer than People and he likes stuff. He's accrued a lot of money from being around so long and prefers to have a cozy home base to operate out of (and keep his books and other personal affects).

Though, considering how much trouble vampires can get into... the question is if his current residence is OK or some other shenanigans have occurred. What I'm saying is that Rellik somehow having lost his house and having to bomb in on abandoned places would be both hilarious and he would HATE that, talk about maximum grumpy. He'd prefer most to have a big gothic house on a hill to be Mr Spooky out of, but with the housing market how it is these days ://///

ok so I'm gonna write here my take on BDSP/PLA arc with Johto and Sinnoh dexholders interacting with each other at the beginning because I absolutely love this idea

At first only Miss gets isekai'd to Hisui, while Dia and Pearl do... other stuff. maybe getting closer to their dream or something. and then they notice that Miss is missing and shit happens in the present too, so they look for clues, and then Johto dexholders will appear and help out with finding ancient stuff related to Hisui to get Dia and Pearl isekai'd as well. And you know, maybe in that short amount of time Silver and Dia can finally interact outside of Satoshi's doodles!

I guess they can connect BDSP and PLA in one arc like this so they won't have to make up something big to compensate BDSP's lack of new content.

From this point most of the focus is on Hisui. Miss has already joined Survey Corps and is actively filling up the Pokédex in Obsidian Fieldlands. While returning to Jubilife Village, she notices, that there are two people who fell in the same place just like she did. Miss and her new partner Rowlet go to check up on them, and recognises Diamond and Pearl, who immediately hug her. The trio is reunited again, but they somehow need to get back to present. The boys are also joining the Survey Corps for the time being, Dia taking Cyndaquil and Pearl taking Oshawott.(both of them somehow ended up with only their first partner Pokémon, the others are left in the present)

The trio is now filling up the Pokédex together. They meet Wyrdeer and then uhhh the plot happens I guess. Together they calm down Kleavor and then, as the time has come to move on to the new location, they are stopped by villagers, who are in the need of help. Pearl decides that he'll take care of their needs and will try to help them with anything he can. Basically, he's now doing the side quests. Now it's only up to Dia and Miss to do the storyline. They convince Calaba(or whatever her name was) that they will help Ursaluna. Ursaluna, however, doesn't seem to be mad and just wanted to fight. Miss and Diamond beat it, and Ursaluna seems to like Dia for some reason. They wander around, and I think Dia adds a Goomy to his team, while Miss catches a Petilil. It was getting too late and they've decided to call it a day, but Miss is still worried about Lilligant, so when the duo go to sleep or, well, do other stuff in the village, Platinum runs back to Lilligant to help her out. But when they notice that Miss is gone, the duo go straight to Crimson Mirelands. Ursaluna meets them and Dia befriends him or adds him to his team, like that one ancient hero did. They hop on Ursaluna and sniff out Miss, who seems to be fighting Lilligant now with Arezu's help. The duo jump in to the battle and help Miss calm the grass giant down.

uhm and I think the other details I'll leave up to you but

I divided PLA's activities and gave one of them to each dexholder of sinnoh trio. Missy fills up most of the Pokédex, Dia does most of the story stuff and Pearl does the side quests mostly. As for the total teams.. for the sinnoh duo I used their first Pokémon and starters that are assigned by me, and then some Pokémon that they haven't used before. Platinum's team is full of Pokémon she hadn't used in the past. or in the present. lol

Dia: Munchlax, Hisui Typhlosion, Hisui Goodra, Drifblim, Ursaluna, Gastrodon

Pearl: Chatot, Hisui Samurott, Hisui Arcanine, Sneasler, Hisui Braviary..

Platinum: Hisui Decidueye, Hisui Lilligant, Wyrdeer, Gardevoir, Clefable, Hisui Zoroark

Well, it was only my take, and I was targeting towards using Pokémon they haven't used before.

While they travel they'll probably have flashbacks of their adventure to mt. Coronet. Because.. You know. BDSP relies only on nostalgia and it would make some kind of sense.

💖 welcome to raine's stupidly-long guide to starting tumblr rp! 💖 qualification: i've had this blog for 11 years. fml disclaimer: still all just from my perspective, i'm just one gal with opinions hehe

start out by making a new blog for your character. (i wouldn't recommend starting out with a sideblog personally, since you can't send asks from them). choose a url that feels relevant. i'm always a fan of the ol "smush two words together that sound nice" technique — ie, my other blogs are huntershowl and icarusplunged — which never seems to fully go out of style. really you can do whatever feels right to you :)

the most important part of setting up an rp blog is creating a rules page and, if you're writing an OC, an about page. the rules set up your boundaries, your wants and don't wants, anything you want someone to know before they follow you. the about page should give new partners everything they need to know about your character — personality, appearance, setting/lore, any backstory you want to display publicly.

feel free to look around at different rpers' rules pages and use them as inspiration! as long as nothing is copypasted and everything is your own original content, which brings me to etiquette.

etiquette!

'tis largely an Unspoken Thing in the rpc (rp community), and breaching it can def make people feel uncomfortable (even though that's something that Should be in rules pages, most of us forget haha). here are the things i can think of off the top of my head:

the way to reach out to new people is simply to follow them. that's all you gotta do! if they don't follow back, don't push, just unfollow them after a few weeks and move on. it's almost never personal!

in that vein, if someone's blog is private/selective/mutuals-only, wait to interact until they follow back.

once they do, it's up to you how you want to move forward — usually i'll wait until they post some sort of interaction call for you to like. a starter call, a plotting call, orrrr if they reblog an ask meme (which is like a list of sentence prompts! you can choose one from the list and send it as an ask, which they can use as an rp starter.) you can also just IM them though :)

don't reblog non-rp content (ask memes, quotes/imagery, etc) directly from another rp blog, it clogs up their notifications! just reblog from the original post instead.

don't interact with other people's threads (liking or reblogging, but feel free to read them and talk about them ooc!), and only respond to a starter if it's labeled as open — otherwise it was probably written for another rper specifically.

try not to prod people too hard if they haven't responded in a while. some folks are okay with being reminded about a forgotten thread a few weeks after replies stall out.

always tag nsft (not safe for tumblr, the other acronym gets flagged/hidden) and very upsetting content — gore, SA or abuse mentions, etc. i've seen some people starting to use "dead dove do not eat" as a catch-all for super dark content, but honestly that phrase gives me the heebiest of jeebies so i prefer to go with individual tags

general platformless rp etiquette rules apply: don't steal other people's content, don't assume or control the other character's actions/thoughts/etc.

be kind to each other, most of all. communicate when you have a problem with someone, rather than making a vague/callout post about them. that being said, i'm a proponent of the block button — blocking people is okay! it's not a big deal. this is a hobby space and no one is entitled to you. advocate for yourself!!

okay that was a long section, whew! lil break. take a sip of water. have a snack mayhaps.

now: RP STRUCTURE (the fun part)

we don't really do "script" style rp on tumblr — it'll usually, if not always, be in prose/paragraph form. formatting is a fun touch, but not necessary. as you can see, i'm using small text here with some little chunks of text in bold/italic or regular size text to add some visual interest. again, not necessary! experiment, figure out what you like!

lots of people will use icons of different sizes — 100x100 is the most common, but they really do vary. i would suggest going smaller rather than bigger (like don't use full post-width gifs or icons, try to keep them under half the size of the post? that's the most common vibe at least.)

icons can be used to "illustrate" your character's expression among a bunch of text, if you want Visual Spice. but they are soooo not necessary! totally up to you.

to reply to a thread, reblog it and add your post.

important: i highly recommend downloading and installing XKIT in your browser. it's an extension that lets you trim posts to the last two reblogs (common around here), customize your blog experience, and just makes it a lot easier to exist on tumblr haha.

Do you know of any good methods to locate a roleplay partner? I've been having the darndest luck primarily because most people end up ghosting me even though I believe our initial interaction/story-board went well. Maybe It's just one of those things you keep working at, but I'm not really sure.

If you don't have a good answer for that, then it's fine: What do you prefer roleplaying, If anything? Just curious!

hi there! so the easiest — and simultaneously hardest — thing to do is to reach out to the people you write with. send them a message, maybe a compliment about something you like about their portrayal / blog, maybe a question where they could see the plot going, etc. if you get over this first interaction hurdle, it becomes easier to reach out and potentially ask to write again in the future.

also, the majority of people i've met in my years here do want to interact with you once you become mutuals. sometimes it's just hard to find a first common ground, so maybe send an ask or like one of their starter calls or, as mentioned above, send them a message. sometimes it just doesn't work out for whatever reason, though, and that's okay. you can always find new people — either go into your fandom's rp tags to find other writers, or see whoever else people you write with interact with.

ps: as for your other question, i'm not really sure. currently, i don't really roleplay here at all because life's too busy, and my main blog is gathering dust ( although i am working on a new multi ). however, i do like roleplaying semi-plotted things. it gives me a direction of where to lead a plot, often resulting in some longer and more detailed threads ( which i prefer to one-liners ). in terms of themes, i like it all — angst, fluff, smut. i'm not really big on romantic / shippy stuff, though, because i'm aromantic and just don't vibe with it most of the time.

Tonnyjul drabble/oneshot I wrote late at night and hardly proofread that I'm not gonna post on ao3 (it has 0 plot and was just writing practice for me)

Again, this fic has 0 plot. I wrote this to practice on writing more descriptive scenes. In the future, I might add in this or certain lines into other fics because there's some stuff I really liked in this!

The sound of the knife tip snapping off and clattering to the dirt ground was enough to make Julia cringe. As if that wasn’t enough, the collective gasp of the audience finalized it. She already knew this memory would keep her up many nights (if the others weren’t enough already). 

“Why are you still upset? It’s alright, nobody remembers it now.” Tonny hummed after the two got backstage. He was taking off the green costume he wore during the performance. It was a slight workout taking off the clothing, as it stuck tightly to the skin with the help of the circus heat. He replaced it with a just as equally ugly outfit for his clown act. 

“Because it’s embarrassing! I screwed up the one performance I have in front of the crowd. Did you not hear the gasp?”

Tonny shrugged, putting on some oversized shoes. “Accidents happen. The good news is nobody got hurt.”

Julia muttered something to herself about her hat being too big to see rightly.

“It’s over now. The sooner you can stop thinking about it, the better.” He told her softly.

Tonny was well familiar that when Julia got upset, she often lashed out, little things easily adding to her mood. How she blew up at him when they first officially met and then again when he found her running around in Aspett. He could tell that another anger strike was coming. 

“I don’t think it’s that bad. The outfit fits you.” Tonny smiled at her. 

“Are you saying I have a big head?” Julia growled. 

“What!? No, I just think the whole… mushroom thing looks nice on you.” He awkwardly waved his hand towards her. Well, shit. 

“Mushroom thing?” Julia stared at him. Looks nice on me??

“You look like a fairy- in a magical way. The makeup, the ear extensions, just everything. If you’re not comfortable wearing the outfit, we can change it. My top priority is that everyone feels comfortable.”

Julia stared at him, picking up on his awkward and nervous stammering.

“I’m not saying it’s bad- but don’t keep the outfit if you don’t like it…”

She rubbed her face with a tired sigh as the ringleader kept rambling on and tuned him out. Gosh, he was really getting on her nerves. All this time Julia was wondering how she’d kill Tonny when in the end, she was sure she was going to strangle him. She did not have it in her to deal with his awkwardness, whatever made him more boyish near her. 

“And what about you? You like that outfit?” She half-snapped at Tonny, who was almost completely changed into the clown costume. The only thing missing was the face paint. 

“What about it?” Tonny looked down at his outfit, observing his large shoes and puffy pants.

“For starters, the god-forsaken shoes.”

Tonny once again re-shifted his gaze towards the large shoes. He was so happy he finally found comically large shoes that fit him rightly and didn’t make a noise when walked. Seeing as how the whole circus was slowly falling apart (from crew members to knives), Tonny felt like the shoes were one of the best things the circus had to show. 

“I like them.” Tonny tapped his foot on the ground softly, grabbing white face paint.

“Not surprised.” She muttered, sitting down on a crate.

A second passed when it clicked what she said. “Rude. They’re meant to be like this.”

“Did you willingly offer to be a clown?”

“Is that supposed to be an insult?”

“No. I’m genuinely curious about how you got stuck with that act.”

“Well, when we became a circus- you remember Dotty’s story from a month or so ago, right? Anyways, we started filling in basic roles. Silk dancers, fortune tellers, clowns, you understand it. And nobody wanted to be a clown and I got forced into it because I’m the leader.”

“Leader and a clown? Which one is easier?” Julia chuckled.

Tonny held back a tired sigh. It’s like she’s becoming more like Sahed every day. I don’t like her spending time with him. 

“They’re both hard in their own ways. But also similar.” Tonny answered, trying to play off Julia’s sharp tongue to be because of a certain ah’kon. Telling himself that’s why he’s slightly hurt overhearing her talk like him. Not because of the time she spent with Sahed slowly made her change the way she spoke and acted.

Wasn’t there an old saying that if someone likes another person, they adapt to become more like them? The ringleader glanced around, looking for the makeup brush. 

“It’s in the drawer. Dotty cleaned everything and moved stuff around.” Julia had taken off her hat and was running her hand over the gills of the fake mushroom. This was now a common ritual and she’d quickly learn the order of his costume transformation.

Tonny opened one of the drawers and saw a brush with bristles slightly stained blue roll around. He grabbed the brush and the face paint, making eye contact with Julia in the old, stained mirror. The exaggerated red blush, the white freckles, the pointed ears. She looked like a fawn who’d just woken up in a field of flowers. It was a sight he wouldn’t mind seeing every day- he sometimes stole a glance at her during performances. Julia stared back at him, a tired but soft look in her eyes. Tonny felt himself become a bit lighter due to the softness in her gaze. Maybe Sahed hadn’t fully influenced her. Maybe there was some part of her that Tonny could find, a part that could be just for the two.

Realization struck Tonny as he realized that he’d been staring. He quickly applied the eye makeup, glad that the white face paint was thick enough to cover the slight burning on his cheeks. He hurriedly finished the blue face paint and the red nose (he refused to wear an actual nose accessory, as it made it hard to breathe with all the running around) and tossed on his wig in a quick motion, fixing it slightly to be more centered. Julia had watched this process multiple times- the way that Tonny was able to change from ringleader to knife-throwing performer to a ginger clown had always impressed her. It seemed each costume had their own personality too.

“The show must go on,” Tonny nodded, walking out of the tent swiftly. Every time he put on the wig he would exit the tent repeating those same five words. Julia thought that it was likely the equivalent of sweeping a bunch of items off a large table and laying out a map to explain a plan- something she’d always see the kids pretend-play in the schoolyard. It likely made the ringleader feel cool.

“The show must go on,” Julia repeated to herself, putting the hat back on. She should really pick up the knife remnants before a kid tried to swipe it as a souvenir.

RP PET PEEVES?: honestly idek anymore ?? the usual stuff bothers me - shitty anons, really excessive drama, etc. one niche pet peeve is when people assume that being "anti" whatever - uncritically shipping adults and minors and things along those lines - makes you some sort of militant prude? i simply feel the world is hard enough & the least you can do is tag your shit. but for the most part if i don't like something i just block & move on, and i never find any trouble these days.

EXPERIENCE / HOW MANY YEARS?: i was talking about this with clarke & boy oh BOY, so technically i started a letter writing game with my best friend when i was a sophomore in high school, & then the next year was introduced to the world of xanga & i've never been the same. so - about 17 years!

FLUFF, ANGST, OR SMUT?: honestly i'm an angst bitch. i was never really comfortable with writing smut until more recently, but even then i'm just like? mostly fine with it. fluff is super cute for little things, but it doesn't always spark my ADHD brain if there's not enough plot. angst is where it's AT for me - DIG into the trauma, LASH out, HAVE those ptsd responses, GET mad, DISCOVER something new! it doesn't even have to be angst - things like action! drama! whatever's really juicy and forces the characters to change / grow / admit something / break down / develop over the course of the thread, that's what i WANT.

PLOTS OR MEMES?: MEMES PLS. again, embracing ADHD here but 9 times out of 10, if i try to plot something i literally don't know what to say (unless it's an AU / canon divergence, etc). i'd rather just someone send me an ask or starter and i can let my thoughts race and write something that feels organic.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES?: i write so. fucking. much. and i won't apologize. however! i've been having fun w/ one liners recently.

TIME TO WRITE?: i try to type away at things at work, like draft some replies, but usually it's evenings and weekends!

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S)?: oh you mean the trauma of always feeling like you're failing and needing to be needed? lmao yes absolutely. however! since i'm a healthy bitch now, i ALSO put my therapy lessons into them! (eventually.) i also like to give my characters some of my own quirks or hobbies, so sometimes you get a little claire easter egg ;) obviously there are huge differences, but my emotions totally affect the characters i'm drawn to.
