It's frustrating how wildly my productivity changes day-to-day. I do have days where the connection between my mind and keyboard are like a coursing river; but there are some days where it's more like a clogged faucet. I can feel my mind struggle to keep focused, every word I write feels like it's in the wrong place, and I just want to sleep.
However, I think the most important thing I've learned through my own inconsistency in motivation/ability to write is just keep trying! Progress is progress (even if it's unfortunately small). The 20 words on a bad day are still worth something. Besides, it all adds up in the end!
With that being said, this month's update is that I feel like I'm about 75% done with the research and writing for my graphic medicine comic! This means that I'm that much closer to drawing (which is exciting since crafting the visuals is possibly my favourite part).
P.S. Also yes, I did slightly rebrand by changing my blog name

[pretentious writing rambling]
i’ve been trying to articulate my personal writing ethos to a few people and it’s, something like - i believe that a story happens on 3 levels: the really apparent one, the obvious plot that keeps the story moving; the thematic and structural level, which is the way a story looks and what ideas the story circles around and touches on; and the narrative, descriptive/detail level, which is all the tiny nuances of absent-minded gestures and adjectives and metaphors that are scattered throughout a story so that any one on its own wouldn’t stand out but when you pick them out they form their own cohesive miniarc. 
because i mostly write fanfic, i don’t care so much about having the most brilliant plot. some fic writers care about this (good for them!) i don’t and can’t because my brain doesn’t work too great on that level. i’m fine with most of my stories having the same basic plot spun in 300 different ways and it makes it easier for me to get to the stuff i actually enjoy working with, theme/structure and description/detail. i think nailing those elements makes for a satisfying read even if the plot itself is nothing special because even if you can predict what will happen next, it doesn’t matter - the important thing is the way it’s written and what it signifies for the characters. because i write for love of characters, i want to explore particular ideas around them; i want to dig inside their head and pick out everything related to the idea of this story and figure out how to illuminate all those facets one by one. 
which is why my editing process consists primarily of going through the story and identifying the foundational themes and throughlines and adding focus to the moments where those elements exist most strongly. even if the reader misses every single theme and detail i added, it literally doesn’t matter, because just by reading it they absorb those themes and details and even if they don’t register they’re still a part of the way that story made them feel after they read it. 
of course, this only works when my audience is familiar with and loves the characters they’re reading about. goodreads would hate my work, they’d be like “this makes no sense” and they’d be right! because it’s not meant to make sense or have a mystery-thriller plot, it’s meant to walk you through the emotional landscape of a character. everything is in service of that goal.

especially if you’re writing fanfiction. you have the freedom to just choose to never write what you don’t wanna write. and most people get this concept when it comes to characters and ships but it also applies to other stuff. don’t like writing dialogue? write in reported speech and internal narration only. don’t like writing action? skive past the action scenes. don’t like writing internal narration? keep your writing sparse and learn to write body language to hint at your character’s emotional states. because i promise you once you’re at a point in your writing where you aren’t being forced to work around writing things you hate, you’ll be much happier. and then you can focus on writing what you love, which is so much nicer.

second person writing is very good because it's so hard to stay grounded in yourself, to keep a sense of detachment from the narrator, when you're reading in second person. really, really good second person annihilates the reader and reduces them to a character without agency, which is a terrifying experience that neither first nor third allow for. but even averagely done second person pulls at your edges and creeps into you
...which is why I think a lot of people don't like second person—it's very disturbing, you're not in control, depending on the writer the character is doing or suffering extremely shitty things. the helplessness stings. when done badly it's violently annoying to be held complicit in something you'd never do.
it's the most difficult balance to get right, but imo the most satisfying. second person when done well hits deeper and cleaner than third and first.

hello, world!
My pen name is Mei Ting Tang, and I'm an aspiring comic artist!
I've always felt the most fulfilled when I can help others, and feel like I've added positively to the world. Subsequently, I constantly changed course throughout my life to find a way that I can do just that that feels like "me."
Initially, I was poised to work in academia, thinking that I could positively contribute to students' lives through teaching, and completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Neuroscience. However, after experiencing the toxic nature of academic research and having the opportunity to pivot my post-graduate plans to something that also included art (another passion of mine), I completed my Master's degree in Scientific Illustration and Communication instead. I was excited at the prospect of having opportunities to help improve the public's scientific literacy and patient education, even if I didn't know exactly what that looked like for me by the time I graduated.
In the workforce, I had opportunities to work in the healthcare space as a UX/UI designer and design consultant, and then as a VR level designer. Although, I constantly felt at arm's-length from the people I was impacting with my work, and the mental effort my jobs demanded of me left me with little energy to pursue my other passions--like art--after hours.
However, due to a combination of (admittedly unfortunate) circumstances, I am so grateful and privileged to have the silver lining of the opportunity to choose to make writing science comics (but also maybe other genres??) my 9-to-5 instead of my 5-to-9.
And the first step towards my dream is this blog! I hope to use this space to document my writing/drawing progress, my thoughts and inspirations, and my journey to publication--a lot of which I still have much to learn about!

Civilization VI: Gathering Storm Cheats

Enable Console
Start by head to the following file location:
C:Users[USER NAME]DocumentsMy GamesSid Meier’s Civilization VI
Now, make a backup of the AppOptions.txt file. Open that file and scroll down to the [Debug] section of the file. Look for a line containing the following text:
EnableDebugMenu 0
Change the 0 in that text so that it reads 1, and start playing the game like usual. Then press ~ (TILDE, THE KEY ABOVE TAB) to access the debug console.
Easy Deity Win (Exploit)
You can win the game on Deity difficulty and score some easy achievements by taking the following steps:
Choose your civilization.
Create a custom game with only “Score Victory” checked, and change the turn limit to 1.
Load the game and choose the Found City option.
End your turn as soon as the option becomes available.
You win the match, just like that, and you will unlock numerous achievements. This works on any difficulty setting.
Reveal the Entire Map
Use a text editor to edit the “Config.ini” file in your Steam Apps folder or the “DocumentsMy GamesSid Meier’s Civilization 6” directory.

Find the “DebugPanel = 0” line and change it to “DebugPanel = 1”
Save and close the “Config.ini” file.
While playing the game, press ~ to display the debug panel.
Select “Reveal All” to reveal the entire map.
There are also other debug options you can enable.
Now you can easily access Debug Console in Civilization VI in-game. In order to activate it you just need to PRESS TILDE “~”. It will open a Debug Window, from there select “Reveal All” option.
Trading Glitch
When trading with the AI, you can use two major glitchs:
1- Give any strategic or luxury resources and as much gold per turn as possible, then click the option whatwill you give me for this?, the AI will break and will offer insane amounts of goldand gold per turn just for the resource.

2- Ask for whatever you want from the AI (cities included) and start putting gold (not gold per turn, only normal gold) untilthey accept the deal, then reduce until you’re as close as possible to the required amount, Ex: 25890 Gold of 26000 required, and click on the option make this trade equitable, this will break the AI and will ask an amount of gold per turn proportional to how close you were to the real price. (I bought 5 cities for 3 gold per turn and a jeans in emperor difficulty). This glitch can also be used in multiplayer matches that include AI, but will surely get patched soon.
Early Domination
If you want to enjoy Civilization 6’s battle systems, it’ll be best to pick up the Aztecs, Scythia, or the Spartan Greece. Aztecs allow your own territories to have more tile improvements as their Eagle Warriors convert slain units into Builder units. Meanwhile, Scythia’s units have bonuses against targeting wounded enemy units. Lastly, the Spartan Greece units generate Culture per enemy unit killed. Waging war in the earlier eras yields fewer Warmonger penalties, so feel free tosiege other Civilizations or City States if you need something from them. If you manage to take every Capital or wipe out every leader in the match, your Civilization will attain the laborious and difficult Domination Victory.

Camera keys
With Civilization VI now out in the wild, one of the biggest gripes is the camera control not being mapped to WASD. The good news is that camera keys can be changedwith some simple file editing. Open the “WorldInput.lua” file in a text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++ Find the DefaultKeyDownHandler section Find the line if( uiKey Keys.VK_UP ) and then make the changes as follows if( uiKey Keys.VK_UP or uiKey Keys.W) if( uiKey Keys.VK_RIGHT or uiKey Keys.A) if( uiKey Keys.VK_DOWN or uiKey Keys.S) if( uiKey Keys.VK_LEFT or uiKey Keys.D)
Next you need to add the same entries above to the DefaultKeyUpHandler section. Note that you will also need to rebind the default Attack and Great Works default keys to something else so your new camera keys do not conflict.
Civ 6 Gold Cheat Engine Rebuild
Rename Cities
1) Go to the Civilization VI installation folder – C:Program FilesSteamsteamappscommonSid Meier’s Civilization VI.
2) Go to Base > Assets > Text > install language – ..SteamsteamappscommonSid Meier’s Civilization VIBaseAssetsTexten_US.
3) Then open the file named “CityNames_Text.xml” with any text editor, then search for the city/civilization that you want to rename. Change the name there and save. Once you are all done reload the game and you will find your city name changed.
Disable Unit Auto Cycle
Go to ..UsersDocumentsMy GamesSid Meier’s Civilization VI
Then open “UserOptions.txt”
After that go to “line 60” then change “AutoUnitCycle 1” to “AutoUnitCycle 0”
Save the file “UserOptions.txt”
Once you are all done then save (Ctrl + S)
Civ 5 Cheat Engine Gold
Now you are all set to enjoy the Civilization VI game without Unit Auto Cycle.

dynamics where the villain is the only person giving the hero the affection they crave are superior. there is just something about having to fight the only person who has ever tried to make you feel comfortable and safe that hits different. it's so painful and awful to turn down power and safety for a cause that doesn't love you back and doesn't really see you as a person, against someone who would love you as you are forever
