Got a new word count tracking site that I'm gonna use for my next writing challenge that I'm going to start November 1st! The site is TrackBear (https://trackbear.app/) and so far I'm into it.

You can create multiple projects:

You can create goals and set the goals to update with either all projects, specific projects you select to count towards your goal, or progress updates that are tagged using a specific tag that would count towards your project:

I haven't tested the other stuff yet because I just created this account and am only going to start putting it to work tomorrow, but it just came out of beta so I'm sure someone else has opinions. The leader board page has a button where it looks like you can invite people to your challenges.

A friend tossed this my way as a replacement for NaNoWriMo, and I'm here for it.

i may or may not be planning a fic where one of the many subplots is that Jason (as Red Hood, but Danny already knows) is following/investigating Danny because he thinks Danny’s dangerous somehow. I won’t go into the details because it’s so much, but point is i have a silly little scene in my head wherein Danny goes out to work on a uni group project with Tim, and on their way to the cafe some asshole car hits a guy on a motorcycle. The Biker goes into a rage and starts cursing him out, takes off his helmet and lo and behold it’s Jason.

Mid-verbal fight with the asshole he catches sight of Tim (recording the whole thing and waving at Jason) and of Danny (potential danger he’s been investigating for nearly two weeks), and Jason gives the asshole a “this isn’t over” threat and dips. Then,

Tim, who noticed Danny’s reaction: You know that guy?

Danny: Oh, yeah, that’s my stalker. You?

Tim: Nemesis. I’m sorry he’s your what?

Bonus:

Tim texting Jason: are you stalking my classmate??

Jason: Mind your own business, Replacement.

Jason: Wait, did he tell you that?

Tim: yah

Jason: RH’s been investigating him. Why the FUCK does your “classmate” think it’s me?

Tim: dick is gonna love this. the great rh has a containment breach

Jason: DON’T YOU FUCKING DARE TELL HIM REPLACEMENT

listening to the soft rumble of zenos voicelines as i work because its soothing.

but it made me think more about how much he represents the pursuit of meaning and purpose. he was satisfied with his death in stormblood because he reached a peak. he finally felt like he'd found the pinnacle meaningful experience in a life he otherwise felt so dull and devoid of purpose.

his revival meant he had to contend with either sinking back into the dull oblivion he'd escaped through death, or seek to recreate or surpass his singular crowning and most joyous moment of his life. of course given his tenacious personality, he chooses the latter, hence the extreme escalation he is driven to.

zenos is in a way the most extreme expression of trying to find meaning and joy in life. he's not necessarily correct in his mindset nor approach, but it's so relatable to hunger for some sort of answer, pinnacle or finality to our journey through life. to find that true "satisfaction" with all we are and what we do.

ughhhhh so probably the tgcf scene i think the most about is in the final battle when hua cheng is holding xie lian and backwards gripping eming with his other hand i . god. this is referenced off of The Fallen Angel by Alexandre Cabanel (i’m pretty sure everyone has seen it by this point) which is surprisingly pretty topical for tgcf.

based on how i approach plotting ive come to the conclusion that even if i were morally and logically okay with becoming kira i would get the death note and think "okay, im going to make sure i come up with the perfect plan so i can't get caught", spend several months on it, refuse to execute it because it's not foolproof yet, and simply never get around to it. if ethics and reason didn't stop me from becoming kira then sheer procrastination would do the trick

the thing I would like the most is if ppl would read my webcomic ! and maybe leave a nice comment while you're there 🤲

it is a tokyo mew mew spinoff- a nextgen to be exact- following Ichigo and Masaya's daughter who really really wants to be a Magical Girl, along with her team, a rogue alien named Persimmon who is..kind of bad at doing a lot of the alien stuff like flying and teleporting, and a robot named Aqua built by Shirogane who is strong but not very good with common sense or social stuff. the girls are up against the original alien species who are lead by Queen, the new ruler who covets Earth after their planet was invaded by space bugs. She is taking a year within the ship to decide how best to eliminate all humans- so they have only a year to stop her- and Mira's magical girl form is unstable due to her animal DNA not being a fit for her, barely being held together with mew aqua. So there's a sense of Time Running out.

It explores a lot of things the original didn't touch on as much as I would've liked, like mew aqua, more about chimera anima, and also has a theme of family (and found family, but also just weird family dynamics in general) and weird relationships between clumsy teenage girls trying to figure themselves out and confronting the future together. If I had to slot it into a genre it would be mahou shoujo, with elements of scifi/fantasy, adventure, and very mild mystery/horror! It has been in the works for 10+ years in my brain! something fun is seeing the improvement just between ch 1- and where we are now!

There's also a bunch of fun stuff on the site that I worked hard to add like a gallery, newsletter, about page with some Swag, etc...(there's a more concise plot summary on the about page, actually, lol)

I'm not sure how comprehensible it is if you haven't read/watched tmm...but I hope tmm fans can enjoy it! It's aimed at a small demographic within an already kinda small fandom, so literally every nice comment about it makes me sooo happy 🥺

It's been going a little over a year now and I update weekly (weekly updates are posted on @tokyomiracle and post art of it on my art blog under the tm2 tag @sanchoyoscribbles :))

It’s been raining a lot. I’ve been staying inside my apartment, away from everything. The plug comes once a week and I get food delivered to my door, so I never really have to see anybody. Just me and a bunch of drugs and fast food and the rain. And the TV.

I nap on and off through the day in a fog, but when night comes, I can’t make myself sleep. Even as a generally solitary person, the raw solitude of night can be suffocating to me. So I spend my nights getting as high as humanly possible and binge-watching old sitcoms. Saved by the Bell, Family Matters, Boy Meets World, stuff like that. I sink into my couch and bask in the gentle neo-static glow of the television screen, my eyes glued as my consciousness drifts. There’s safety and comfort in the predictability of the shows. It waters down the loneliness.

One night I was kinda drunk and just coming up on a mushroom trip when one of the Saved by the Bell characters, Jessie, said something environmentally conscious, which was met with a laugh track and ridicule from the other characters. This sent me spiraling, unable to control my thoughts of how we were poisoning the planet, ruining all living beauty for the sake of corporate hunger, and half the people around me treat it like a joke. Existential crises aren’t typically easier to handle on psilocybin, so I would call that one a rough night.

(there was a knock at the door the other day. i didn’t answer it. they went away. sometimes i feel like a ghost in my own home.)

Almost all of the character drama in sitcoms is derived from lack of communication. Acting out because you refuse to speak your feelings out loud. It’s funny when we watch it, we think, “Oh, how simply all this madness could’ve been avoided if only they’d just tell that easy truth.” But we’re all just like that. It’s too hard to say what we feel so we end up not saying anything at all. I don’t know how to connect with people anymore. I’ll just keep listening to rain and laugh tracks.

"Y/N, I'm curious, do you... like anyone?" His words were a shock to you, and you scrambled to find a good response. "You don't have to answer if you want."

"No, it's like, I do but I don't? I'm not sure," You finally responded, "Why do you ask?"

"I told you I'm just curious, idiot!" He kicked your shin under the table.

You kicked him back. "Yeah right. Are you sure you don't have a crush on me or something?" It took you a moment and a very red Akito to realize what just escaped your mouth. oh. oh. That made sense. "Oh my gosh, Akito, I-"

"You what?" Akito was now covering his face.

"Does that mean you like me?" You took a sip of the drink you ordered. He nodded meekly.

"I guess, I sorta did when we were younger too. I can't believe I'm confessing to you right now, especially when we just met," He confesses.

"I- I really like you too, Akito. I don't know if it's in the romantic way or not yet, but, I'm willing to give it a try," You tell him.

"Yeah but, what about when you leave to go on tour? Do you actually want to go long distance?"

Long distance. Yikes. "I'd try it. I just met up with you again, Akito. I think we could make this work." You rest your hand on his.

"Yeah," He lets his fingers intertwine wit yours, "We could."

This damn thing is a unholy amalgamation of different techniques just so I didn't get bored while making it. Tbh I didn't care of it looked decent, I just wanted to play around with different stitches. Projects like this feel like a puzzle so it was more fun than frustrating. This did turn out extremely clean though so yippee~~ Didn't include any gold or yellow because with the red on this specifically it reminded me of Ronald McDonald. Also. The hexagons look clearer from the inside but that's just because the wondering yarn helps define the shape.

The hardest part was getting the sizing correct. I accidentally used a smaller hook than I'd usually use for clothing so I had to dick around some to get the correct size. Figuring out how to taper the sleeves was low key evil too. The only thing I'm not happy with is I couldn't figure out how to do the upper back panel with the houndstooth stitch without it warping or it looking weird so I just went with plain black. Other than that I'm very proud of my monstrosity :]
