my second, spicier take is that people make fun of 'female-coded male characters' but "family member and doctor make medical decisions for [character] without their knowledge or permission and this is fine -- [character] should be grateful, in fact!" is something you'd hear from the antagonist in like, the yellow wallpaper. I think canon is less misogynistic than that -- I think wwx and wq are implied to understand that they're violating a boundary and it's reasonable to assume that the person they're operating on would be upset -- but it would be fun to see the horror AU where they're completely upfront right after the surgery because they didn't do anything wrong and only a crazy person would be upset.

Tbh the golden core thing actually made me like wwx and wq more because that morally grey action really humanised him to me. Wen Qing didn’t do it out of kindness, she did it because she cared about wwx and felt like she owed him a great debt. Another complicated decision!

Now I have an itch to write a one shot about LWJ desperately in love with inventor WWX, who hosts parties to showcase his own line of organic skincare products that removes all those icky toxins from your skin the natural way - yes, an absolute nod to guidao. LWJ can hardly move in his house because of all the boxes of facemask and toner he'll never get through in his entire lifetime and is trying to give his brother 20 boxes to take away with him. LXC just laughs and suggests LWJ should just invest in the company and ask WWX out already before LWJ runs out of room and has to rent a warehouse to store it all in.

A few years after WWX dies, LWJ hears rumours of a distant demon lord who managed to bring his husband back to life after being dead for five years, and decides to seek him out to ask for help. Unfortunately for LWJ, while the demon lord is quite happy to help… his husband has misconceptions about the genre and the roles people are playing in it.

(SQQ thinks that WWX was a minor background antagonist who got fridged so LWJ could have a villain arc, assumes all attractive men are gay because the System said the genre was danmei now, assumes XY is the protagonist, and takes one look at JGY and goes ‘oh a polite young man stuck in a shitty gold-associated sect — he’s GYX coded!’)

He's an absolute badass - in a series full of morally ambiguous or outright immoral characters, he's one of the only people around to consistently show he's reliable, honorable and strong. Some examples include Lan Wangji defending Wei Wuxian, his love interest and eventual husband, against his own clan and other clans because WWX went against their rules and tried to save innocent people, or LWJ raising WWX's adopted son for years and being a great father and mentor to him. While LWJ isn't *technically* canonically autistic, (not that this word would exist in the setting), he has flat affect, fixates on rules and his difficulty in understanding people's emotions is explicitly brought up and a minor plot point.

The other protagonists also never judge him for it, and the only character who does is the kind of person 90% of readers want to kill by the end of the series.

His boyfriend Jesper helped him fake being able to read so they could beat Wylan's shitty dad.

- He's incredibly sweet - But can also be ok with murder sometimes, like when killing unconscious people wasn't good - so just wake them up. - He was thrown out of the house and his father tried to kill him, because of said dyslexia, but managed to survive. Then rebelled against his father and with the help of friends took down his empire - He is very talented at the flute. And can draw very well, along with being a great chemist and demolition experts (hired for making flash bombs and other cool shit-) - Helps break into a world-class prison, then blushes the entire time because the person he's pared with keeps flirting with him - Asks his (eventual boyfriend) if he's into guys. Then immediately gets flustered when Jesper picks it up - Is very rich heir (due to shenanigans) and there's a one-off line about this sweet bean kind of being a sugar daddy- (just gives his boyfriend money to do stocks with, to stop him from gambling) - Supports his boyfriend throughout his gambling addiction and tries to help him overcome it

Wylan is dyslexic and because of this written off as stupid by his father. However, he is actually a genius, especially with chemicals, and he uses his genius and his new band of misfit friends to take his father down and read him for filth in front of a whole bunch of important people. He is good at making things explode. He also nabs himself a hot boyfriend in the process so good for him!

WWX's birthday is also in October. This is also how we know the song isn't about Yanli--easy mistake, I know.

Swimming in lotus pier. JC is remembering WWX in the present (fall), where everything is dying, but summer activities like swimming remind him of his brother too. Hi, anon! Sure, you can ask. I love asks. It's fun to think about MDZS .

Wei Wuxian:

Strength: I think his most important strength is his ingenuity, like this guy will use all that is near and available to him, to serve his purpose. He's really flexible, and can adapt easily, even his manner of speaking varies greatly; when he's angry, it becomes so cold and formal, yet, he can speak so cutely as well. There's this line in the book - "if he were poor, he could sleep under a tree. If he were rich, he could sleep in a mansion." He's so dauntless and I love that. Another major strength of his is his true empathy; even in the pits of hell, he made friends with the ghosts. The scene where he kisses the skeletal arm? Amazing. There are so many more strengths honestly; the way he is confident about his abilities, the way he will do the right thing even knowing that he would not be rewarded or thanked; he doesn't force debts onto others for his offered kindness; doesn't hold resentment; forgives the wrongs against him and is really, really smart.

Weakness: too good for this world. Joking. But I do think all of his weaknesses come from being a gem among the hay - too righteous, too kind, too good, unable to abandon those he cares about, willing to shoulder all sorts of burdens and some assholes just keep on adding more. not the type to complain or talk about his true feelings; too dismissive of his own emotions; moves on with the next thing a little too quickly; if he doesn't want to face something, HE WILL FORGET IT. He plays off so much shit; there are layers to his narration. You need to look really closely to find out what really hurts him or how he feels. He's like a damn butterfly fluttering around the main essence of things when it is about his feelings, his thoughts etc.

Lan Wangji:

Strength: His own righteousness and moral code that makes him take punishment even when it's not his fault; that makes him injure 33 clan elders and return later for punishment, that makes him traverse the world for 10 years, helping every minor cause. Even Wei Wuxian is bored on their 'going where the chaos is' (but of course, he will go). He is also the same, wishing to just stand by Wei Wuxian. He doesn't need a relationship, doesn't need thanks or apologies. Secondly, his dependability - he has honed his skills to a level of near-perfection, whether it be the art of the sword, cultivation, calligraphy, sex, etc - a very methodical approach. Also, his true empathy; how he is so soft at heart, like a young boy. Pure-hearted, wielding his sword with mercy. So, he's able to empathize with people and understand each of their circumstances while still making the righteous and most reasonable calls. One of his major strengths is also in his attitude towards things. He doesn't get worked up when people insult him (Wen Chao scolding him during Qishan Wen Indoctrination after the Wen burnt his clan and yet, he still didn't respond to the provocations.) He keeps his mind especially calm, and open, and doesn't draw conclusions until there is valid evidence (the only person who makes him lose his cool is WWX.)

Weaknesses: Suppresses his desires, wants and humane needs a lot; struggles to communicate what he truly wishes to say; stubborn to no end, unrelenting; unable to handle much teasing, mutilated trees and kicks rocks, struggles sharing his thoughts or doesn't wish to share them lmao.

TODAY IN EXALTED EVENTS

we infiltrated the extremely select party of Houses enemies of ours because a former classmate (it's Flayn from FE3H so you can imagine we're not likely to refuse her) asked us to go there and meet "someone" who "urgently needs the PCs' aid"

and by doing so we found one of the guests was the bestie my not!WWX made at his sorcery school whom he's basically told his entire life to! (she's the one who helped him get out of the school to perform consensual lobotomy on another PC). Arkis went :DDDDDDD and immediately introduced his not!WQ to his Hearthmates. (It's fine I spent the XP she's an ally of mine)

also we found that another former classmate of our was - just as incognito as us - at the same party in order to prevent HIS childhood bestie from murdering someone who deserves it but that would get the childhood bestie killed, and so Ex Classmate (an extremely untrustworthy Naesala type that I'm extremely fond of) BEGGED us to please help save his childhood bestie. Childhood bestie for people who forgot being code for most-important-person. He's not the person not!Flayn wanted us to meet. He's a sidequest. Given that we're - as is the technical word - SUCKERS we're definitely going to help.

Also Arkis didn't see, because another PC was making efforts that he wouldn't see, but the Awful Betrothed of Arkis' childhood bestie is here too. So that's great. (To wit the awful betrothed is from the same House as not!WQ, and more than once during the timeskip Arkis thought to himself that now if Sennet was betrothed to HER rather than his Awful Betrothed it would solve several problems!)

And then my not!WWX saw his not!JC!!!! who he's been estranged from since the death of not!JC's sister that his family blames my family for (I don't know if it's correct). And not!JC didn't react to seeing us?????? so Arkis is convinced/convincing himself that Sennet didn't see them. His expression didn't even CHANGE. (Having access to what Sennet feels at any given moment through sorcerous stalkery means Arkis knows Sennet's even MORE anxious than previously but also somehow reassured. which doesnt mean shit for Arkis. Arkis KNOWS Sennet is angry at him for the death of Sennet's sister, and he gets it, because Arkis didn't solve the mystery of the murder and present Sennet with the heads of the people responsible for it.)

my headcanon for them together is that I think that whenever wei wuxian was sick/hurt/scared as a kid, jiang yanli would sing to him to help him go to sleep at night, and that's why he asks lan wangji to sing to him in xuanwu cave, and then wei wuxian would do this for a yuan in the burial mounds too

to me jiang yanli is very coded as having chronic fatigue syndrome or something similar, so because she's not very good at the physical aspects of cultivation and can't do a lot of physical activity anyway, she spends a lot of time practicing making talismans, both for her to use and so that there's a lot to give out to the younger disciples. I can imagine she would feel sort of insecure about being the daughter of a sect leader and the sister to two very capable cultivators, but not being able to really participate in training, so she starts making talismans and charms to feel useful and gets really good at it

this wei wuxian headcanon is kind of sad oops but I think that because he was on the street w/o shelter for so many years, he would Hate the cold, at least for several years after coming to lotus pier. when they're little and stilled shared a room, wei wuxian would climb into jiang chengs bed to cuddle on windy nights because being alone in his bed as it stormed outside would remind him of the cold nights sleeping on the streets

4. A) This fic is a modern au, I think that both LZ and WY are cultivators, WY specifically is kind of a witch (?), he messes with dark magic and lives in a haunted town or something like this. There's a reencounter between the two (I don't know if by chance or if LZ tracks WY) and at some point LZ gets worried that WY is sorrounded by ghosts/resentful energy, but he is aware of the situation. I think WY even has a pet crow/cat, but I'm not sure. And the plot may envolve him being isolated, running away or being expelled because of his methods of cultivation. Also, I'm pretty sure there's a fanart featured in the story that has Wangxian and the haunted place WY lives/takes care.

B) The second one is also a modern AU, LZ father is very sick, almost dying and stays in the hospital all the time, but LZ refuses to visit him because of the resentment caused by the situation with his parents. He meets WY in this same hospital, I don't remember if he works there, but I think it has something to do with Yanli. They connect through this situation, LZ eventually goes see his father and I think WY has some part in convincing him to do so.

C) Another modern AU, Lan Qiren is a priest/owns a church, the Lans are very religious and that includes LZ. WY is kind of a delinquent, he starts to go to the church and begins a friendship with LZ, who is very upright and frigid like in canon, plus the super religious part. I think LQ even says WY is a bad influence bacause of his behaviour and the things he did/does, but LZ realizes he is not that bad and there's probably some toutoring/disciplining envolved from his part. They are both teens or young adults and I specifically remember a scene when the two have sex inside the church with LZ being on the receiving end.

With wwx and lwj being opposing generals on opposite sides of a war. However, they both respect each other and have worked together to save innocent lives in the past.

In the end the Lan win the war and lwj takes wwx under his protection as a sort of war prize. This fic is very heavy on the Jiang and Jin bashing and in the end I think the Jiangs and Jins have to stand trial for their crimes during the war. While wwx is under lwj’s protection and never committed any crimes thus is not punished. I don’t think it is terribly long and I thought it was finished or almost finished at the time when I was reading it. If you could help me find this fic I would really appreciate it! @kjwaikiki

So i read a canon divergence fic long time ago that wangxian were betrothed to each other since young and wei wuxian always had to wear a mask and besides the jiang family no one was allowed to see his face, also he lived in a mansion in yilling with mian mian and xue yang, plus wei wuxian and lan wangji were pining hard in this fic. Also for the sake of her family wen qing married lan wangji. I feel like it was deleted from ao3 cause i searched a lot but i wanted to get help from you guys too.
