after briefly scrolling through the oc tag that you used on one of my posts and seeing that two of the four posts there are about being affectionate with men and a forth is about suffering and dying for the plot .I am intrigued KRHSHDB
!!! oh oh brian my beloved!!!!!! yessss okay so he is one of the two main characters of my current wip novel (the other one is his qpp xeno, they/them). here is a lil snippet thingy i made abt them (plus FANFIC FROM ONE OF MY MUTUALS OMG) and here is a post i made abt the story recently and here is my tag for the wip as a whole.
but!!!!! if u don't wanna click around those, and also just bc i think i am interpreting this ask correctly as an invitation to infordump:
brian is aroace and autistic and adhd (xeno is a non-SAM aro and also autistic, they are also SO beloved). brian is also a wizard who does magic <3 and he has a suuuper fucked up magic wizard family (who currently have semi-disowned him for being aro </3). he has 8 siblings, 3 older and 5 younger, and he loves them all so much (the oldest two ah. do Not deserve it though. they are both very manipulative and emotionally abusive). brian is 23; his siblings range from 28 to 9 years old. his arc in the book will be basically. a race between his slowly developing awareness that his family is abusive and he needs to cut them off, and his deeply instilled self-sacrificial instincts leading him to put himself in dangerous situations to protect his younger siblings and xeno. so just. whether he will properly work up the courage to choose himself and leave before he gets himself killed or not. we shall see :)))))
hOWEVER angsty plot aside he and xeno are SO beloved and they love each other sm in a way that is wholly divorced from allo nonsense <333 they were roommates in their junior year of college and became qpps in their senior year, and the book takes place about a year and a half after that. brian is biiiiig and tall and chonky and soft (xeno is fairly average height, but that's still short enough for brian to rest his chin on top of their head <3), and he usually has some stubble because both facial hair and shaving are Sensory Bad things for him so it is just a constant battle between which is worse (xeno is always very cleanshaven bc facial hair gives them dysphoria). he usually wears a weighted vest + tshirt + jeans. he probably didn't know he was autistic growing up, which means he developed some stims that hurt himself without knowing what he was doing (specifically he tends to chew his hands and also dig his fingernails into his skin rlly hard) and then the habit got super ingrained, but now he is working on it and xeno is also looking out for it and helping him find other stims that are better <333 he has a chewy necklace now!!!! and some nice squishy rubbery stim toys he can dig his nails into instead <33333 he also has a cat named Critter!!!! they are very small. he also rlly likes vocal stimming (which can be a lil bit of a problem bc xeno is very sensitive to sound, but they've gotten pretty good at accomodating each other) and audio stims (he likes rlly loud rhythmic music for stims, musical theater soundtracks for when he's feeling depressed and nostalgic, and things like AJR and owl city for when he's just listening to music regularly) (xeno is a podcast person and rarely listens to music, and when they do it is normally music without lyrics). he rlly likes Textures and Sensations as a general rule. he loves to stim with xeno's hair (they have an undercut dyed purple), it's v cute, they'll snuggle next to each other on the couch while xeno is like reading a book or whatever. he also loves to give & receive top-of-head and forehead kisses, but most other kinds of kisses are a no-go for him bc he is both romance and sex repulsed and feels like most other kinds of kisses have been made too strongly associated with sex or romance by the general allo population for him to be comfy with them. xeno is extremely ambivalent towards most forms of physical affection, and towards romance/sex as concepts (they simply Do Not Care), so they are generally down for cuddles if brian wants cuddles, but they also would be perfectly fine without.
XENO MEANWHILE is also very very cool and good!!!! their samefood is applesauce, especially in squeezy packets, so there is a whole drawer in the kitchen just full of those (brian can't tolerate the texture, so xeno always knows Exactly how many there are in the house). they usually wear fingerless gloves bc it helps reduce the amount of unexpected sensation on their hands; they also tend towards very soft comfy clothes, mostly longsleeve shirts and sweatpants, bc most fabrics are bad textures. they don't emote in a very neurotypical way, so they have to mask a lot when they're at work, and brian is someone who they feel safe unmasking around bc they know he won't misinterpret their quiet and their lack of typical "happy"/pleasant facial expressions, and won't think they're super angry when they're not (which is a problem they often face when they can't mask in front of neurotypicals). they carry noise canceling headphones with them bc of how often they get overstimulated by too much noise. they rlly like to Sort and Organize things, which makes reshelving books at the library (their current job) one of their faaavorite things to do. they're also very good at spotting when brian is just. hiding the fact that he has 0 self-esteem, and are trying rlly hard to encourage him in asserting himself & his needs more often. they love to Learn things and will often infodump to brian about whatever it is they've learned recently. they have a note in their notes app for each person who is important to them, where they just write down every single little detail they know about that person and what they like/dislike, and so on. they make frequent use of these notes as a way to come up with good ideas for little ways to show affection (they are v into gift giving, quality time, and acts of service as love languages, but are very averse to words of affirmation. these tendencies have caused both good and bad things for them in the past). it took them a While to befriend Critter (brian's cat), but now the cat Loves them, which they count as a significant personal triumph. i think possibly they either have pet rats or have had them in the past, so if they do, then their room is off limits for Critter lol. they dye their own hair, which is always an Adventure especially because most smells are sensory Bads for them and bleach is Definitely one of them, so they often have to allot most of their spoons for the day just to bleaching out their hair, so they have to plan and schedule it carefully to have enough spoons. brian has offered to help do it with magic before, but xeno is not convinced that it would be better that way. they also have lots of stim toys, and they carry some in their backpack at all times (including some that are exclusively for brian).
OKAY that's. a lot of things abt them. i love them both sm. i definitely could go on but im stopping for now asjkdhfkjfghsdf tysm for the ask it was the best thing that happened to me today :D

2019 In TV - My Top 10 Shows
This past year may have sucked balls in a lot of ways, but we certainly never got short-changed when it came to our TV.  There was an absolute WEALTH of truly cracking TV around, both on regular networks and on the various on-demand platforms, and so here is my pick of the best, my absolute favourites of 2019.
Tumblr media
10.  WATCHMEN
Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof brings us a blinding sequel to comic book legend Alan Moore’s legendary graphic novel with a delightfully trippy, ruthlessly efficient rug-puller that seems pretty tailor-made for HBO.  Old faces return in interesting ways, while there are some cracking new “masks” on offer, particularly Regina King’s Sister Night and the always-brilliant Tim Blake Nelson as morally complex antihero Looking Glass (in some ways very much the show’s own answer to Rorschach).  It never goes where you expect it to go, and refuses to give easy answers to the questions it raises, effortlessly paving the way for more next year ...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
9.  THE BOYS
Amazon offers up its own edgy, thoroughly adult superhero property with this darkly funny antiheroic gem based on the cult Garth Ennis comic, expertly adapted by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke.  Karl Urban dominates as Billy Butcher, the foul-mouthed, morally bankrupt “leader” of a makeshift crew of mercenaries, hitmen and psycho killers devoted to “taking care of” superheroes when they inevitably go bad.  Season 1 ultimately serves as an origin story, showing how the team come together, laying quality groundwork for the incoming sophomore tour that promises to open the already fascinating world out significantly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8.  PREACHER (SEASON 4)
More Garth Ennis, namely this blinder of a closing season for AMC’s consistently impressive adaptation of his best known series for Vertigo comics.  Surprisingly epic, deliciously subversive and constantly, darkly hilarious, this thoroughly non-PC series from showrunners Sam Catlin, Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen (yes! I Know!) certainly went out on a high note, providing its loyal followers with perfectly-pitched bow-outs and sometimes heartbreaking goodbyes for all its players, especially its dynamite leads, Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga and, in particular, Joe Gilgun as unapologetic bad boy vampire Cassidy.  A worthy end to one of my all-time favourite TV shows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7.  THE WITCHER
While it’s clearly taken its look from the wildly successful video games, Netflix’s second most ambitious long-form offering of the year takes its lead from the fantasy book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski that started it all.  With its somewhat episodic set-up and decidedly twisted narrative timelines, it take a few chapters to get the hang of it, but there’s plenty to draw you in, from the exotic world-building to the frenetic action and compelling collection of richly crafted characters.  Henry Cavill is the titular hero, lovably grouchy mutant monster-hunter Geralt of Rivia, but the real scene-stealer is co-star Anya Chalotra as roguishly self-serving mage Yennefer of Vengenberg.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6.  CARNIVAL ROW
One of the year’s two big sleeper hit TV surprises for me was this inventively offbeat allegorical Amazon fantasy series from The 4400 creator René Echevarria and screenwriter Travis Beacham. Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevigne are the star-crossed lovers at the heart of this intriguingly dark and dirty murder mystery thriller set in Victorian London-esque city-state the Burgue, in which humans struggle to co-exist alongside a struggling disenfranchised underclass of fae (fairies, fawns, centaurs and the like).  The racial turmoil undertones are writ large throughout, but this is far more well-written and lavishly appointed than you might expect on first glance, and almost ridiculously addictive viewing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5.  LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS
My other big TV surprise was this wonderfully bizarre sci-fi anthology series of animated shorts from Netflix, mostly adapted from an eclectic selection of short stories from a wide range of top-notch literary talent including Peter F. Hamilton, John Scalzi, Marko Kloos and Alastair Reynolds (a particular favourite of mine).  As you’d expect from the brainchild of Deadpool director Tim Miller and producer David Fincher, this is edgy, leftfield stuff, frequently ultra-violent and decidedly adult, and the wildly varied nature of the material on offer makes for a decidedly uneven tone, but there are some absolute gems on offer here, my favourite being Suits, an enjoyably simple tale of salt-of-the-earth farmers on an alien world utilising clunky mech suits to protect their settlement from rampaging giant xeno-bugs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4.  THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE
The show with the biggest cinematic wow factor in 2019 had to be this long-awaited prequel series to Jim Henson’s classic fantasy movie masterpiece, created for Netflix by, of all people, Louis Leterrier (yes, the director of The Transporter, Now You See Me and Clash of the Titans, if you can believe it). The technology may have evolved in leaps and bounds, but there’s a wonderfully old school vibe in the delightfully physical puppet effects used to bring the fantastical world of Thra and its denizens to life, so that it truly does feel like it’s based in the same world as the film.  This was EASILY the most visually arresting show of 2019, packed with exquisite character, creature and set design that perfectly complements the awesome work done by Henson and Brian Froud on the original, while the writers have created a darkly rich narrative tapestry that makes Thra seem a more dangerous place than ever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3.  THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY
I was a HUGE fan of My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way’s magnificently oddball alternative superhero comic, so when I learned that Netflix were adapting it I was a little wary because I knew how spectacularly hard it would be for ANY showrunners to get right.  Thankfully Steve Blackman (Fargo season 2) and Jeremy Slater (The Exorcist TV series) were the right choice, because this perfectly captured the outsider nature of the characters and their endearingly dysfunctional family dynamic. Ellen Page, Tom Hopper (Black Sails, Merlin), David Castañeda and Emmy Raver-Lampman are all excellent as the more “functional” Hargreeves siblings, but the show is roundly stolen by Misfits star Robert Sheehan and Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn’s Aidan Gallagher as nihilistic clairvoyant Klaus and the old-man-in-a-child’s-body sociopath known only as Number Five. Consistently surprising and brilliantly bonkers, this was definitely the year’s most wonderfully WEIRD show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2.  STRANGER THINGS (SEASON 3)
Writer-director duo the Duffer Brothers’ ultra-nostalgic 80s-set coming-of-age sci-fi horror series remains the undisputed jewel in Netflix’s long-form crown with this consistently top-drawer third season expertly maintaining the blockbuster-level standards we’ve come to expect.  This year the cross-dimensional shenanigans have largely been jettisoned, replaced by a gleefully nasty through-line of icky body horror that would make major influences like David Cronenberg and Stuart Gordon proud, as perennial teenage bad boy Billy Hargrove (the fantastically menacing Dacre Montgomery) becomes the leader of an army of psychic slaves under the control of the Upside Down’s monstrous Mind Flayer.  The kids are all brilliant as always, Winona Ryder and David Harbour really get to build on their strong-yet-spiky chemistry, and the show is almost effortlessly stolen by Joe Keery as one-time golden boy Steve Harrington and series-newcomer Maya Hawke as his nerdy new foil Robin Buckley, who were very nearly the cutest couple on TV in 2019.  Another gold standard season for a true gold standard show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1.  GOOD OMENS
Sadly, legendary author Terry Pratchett died before he could see the adaptation of one of his most beloved novels (and one of my all-time literary favourites too) see the light of day, but at least his co-author Neil Gaiman was around to bring it to fruition with the aid of seasoned TV director David Mckinnon (Jekyll, Doctor Who, Sherlock), and the end result sure did him proud, perfectly capturing the deeply satirical voice and winningly anarchic, gleefully offbeat and gently subversive humour of the original novel.  David Tennant and Michael Sheen could both have been born to play Crowley and Aziraphale, the angel and demon nominally charged with watching over the young Antichrist in preparation for his role in the End Times, even though they would both much rather the world just went on quite happily the way it is, thanks very much. This is about as perfect an adaptation as you can get, the six hour-long episodes giving the surprisingly complex story time to breathe and grow organically, and the result is the most fun I spent in front of my TV this year.

Sparking I
Tumblr media
During my research into Dragon Ball GT the other day, i wrote a whole essay about my favorite things in that series, i had to revisit a great deal of DB material. As i perused the wiki and other sources, i realized the true depth of the franchise and how much i loved it. So many branches, so many expansions, so many continuations. With the advent of Xenoverse, all of these different series and material are actual canon. Everything has its place in the Dragon Ball multiverse and i wanted to kind of highlight the aspects i love the most. From characters to arcs to transformations and abilities to races to fights; these are some of my favorite things in Dragon Ball!
Vegeta
Tumblr media
There is a whole ass post about Vegeta on this blog going into a great deal of depth about my love for the arrogant prince. You can search that post out for a proper gushing but, in short, Vegeta is my favorite character in the entire franchise. I love this dude, man. From the first time i saw him in the original Ocean Dub, voiced like butter on a biscuit by Brian Drummond, i was smitten. All of that smarm, arrogance, and power, was hard to resist. It made for an epic entrance and literally gave us the best character in the entire franchise. Vegeta, Super Vegeta, Majin Vegeta, Baby Vegeta, Copy Vegeta, Xeno Vegeta; They are all Vegeta and i love them equally. Mostly. I really, really, dig Majin Vegeta but it’s hard to separate that from core Vegeta. None of those others would exist without the original Prince of Saiyans.
Goku vs Vegeta
Tumblr media
Anytime these two cats fight, it was a straight up spectacle. That first beam clash between the four times Kaioken Kamehameha and the full power Galick Gun brought stars to my eyes and, later in the timeline, when Baby took over Vegeta, that entire fight was fun to see. I love all bouts between these two but my favorite is the Majin Vegeta SSJ2 Goku fight during the Buu saga. That sh*t was brutal and visceral. It was the true second round, a continuation, from that first clash so long ago. I hate the way the old anime cut around this fight but it was still a sight to behold, even in snippets. And, for the record, Goku never beat Vegeta. Ever. Every fight they ever had together, ended with Goku face down on the ground. Look it up.
Dragon Ball FighterZ
Tumblr media
When Dragon Ball FighterZ was announced, i began salivating. This game was gorgeous and played like the DB title i always wanted to see. My lust for a 2d DB fighter began with those old Butoden games. They were hella excellent and felt like the only way to bring Dragon Ball to console, outside of a full-blown RPG, bu they still felt a little lacking. The next step in the DB fighting evolution came in the form of Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension. It really was an excellent game but suffered from frame rate and other tedious issues. Then that growth stopped in favor of the anime arena fighter uprising, championed by the first Dragon Ball Z: Budokai title. Those games became their own thing, further detracting from my dream title, but Super Dragon Ball Z gave me hope. Hope that went unrealized until Dragon Ball FighterZ. This game was everything i wanted in a proper, 2.5D, Dragon Ball fighter. It changed the game but delivering one of the best of this console generations, even usurping mainstay Marvel vs. from EVO the year it released. Three seasons in, FighterZ is still dropping gems in mechanic tweaks and characters. Speaking of characters...
Android 21
Tumblr media
21 came through and swept me off my feet! At first, i thought she was kind of a forced mcguffin but then i played the narrative and i discovered a great new character, well integrated in the overall DB canon. Hell, that narrative, overall, is one I'd love to see in animation eventually, mostly because i want 21 to get her time to shine, to become one of the actual Z fighters because, i mean, seriously? She’s adorable! and her design is f*cking chef kiss levels of dope, specifically that Majin form. The second 21 transformed into my pink glutton princess, that was it. She was immediately my second favorite character in the entire franchise, usurping Super Janemba with gusto.
Piccolo Jr.
Tumblr media
I debated which version of Piccolo to put on this list because, objectively, i kind of love them all. Old Man Piccolo, Kami, and junior all have a place on this list but, if i did that, this thing would be long as f*ck. Admittedly, i didn’t get into the original Dragon Ball too heavy. My introduction to the franchise came with Z so going back to DB felt like a regression. Until the King Piccolo saga. that old slug motherf*cker was a beast! Piccolo Daimaou was a real problem until he wasn’t, leaving behind an egg that would become the Piccolo we all know and love. His whole position was usurped by Vegeta and he fell down that power scale super fast during the Cell saga but i till love me some Uncle Piccolo, especially when he stopped fighting and became more of a sage. Pearl dropping Piccolo is the best Piccolo.
Super Saiyan Blue
Tumblr media
Look, i love Super Saiyan forms and i love the color blue. It’s like two of my favorite thing got together, boned down nasty, and gave birth to something even greater than themselves. It also helps that, according to the manga, it was Vegeta that figured out how to achieve this form through his solo training with Whis, never mind the fact that he somehow unlocked the ability to reach Super Saiyan God level without the help of absorbing other Saiyan energies. And then he unlocked another form with Evolved Super Blue, literally in the middle of fighting God of Destruction Toppo. Ultra Instinct is interesting to see and absolutely devastating but Blue is definitely my favorite of the Super transformations so far.
Freeza
Tumblr media
I mean, it’s Freeza. How can you not love this dude? He’s the most popular DB villain to date, which is why they brought him back for Super instead of, say, Cell. Don’t get me wrong, Cell will definitely make an appearance on this list, but Freeza is just the most. He’s such a racist, violent, villainous, asshole and i kind of love him for t. Dude delights in his evil and cruelty. Sometimes, it’s refreshing to just have a villain be a villain and f*cking revel in his malice, you know? Like, Freeza is the embodiment of “I lived, b*tch!” His hate for the Saiyan race transcends his many, many, deaths and, even after visiting Earths hell twice, he refuses to give up. He took that L on Namek and became a whole ass cyborg, only to get him and his father killed by Trunks. He got resurrected and achieved a power on par with Super Saiyan God, only to get killed again. He got brought back again only to see f*cking Gogeta Blue and understand there was no way he would ever, EVER, beat these Saiyans. Ever. Even still, he lived, b*tch! And you can bet he’s scheming his ass off about it.
Goku Black Arc
Tumblr media
While i am on the subject of Super, i really liked the Goku Back arc. Objectively, it’s actual trash. Black is an awful and lazy antagonist with the worst power creep in DB history but his arc did give us a look into Future Trunk’s life after Cell. I loved the fact that he was able to unlock his own way to achieve Super Saiyan 3 levels of power while maintaining the far superior Super Saiyan 2 form. Trunks was even able to take this power further, unlocking a form unique to himself in Super Saiyan Rage. Shades of his father’s genius bleeding through in the on, maybe? I mean, there is is just so much to love about this arc, you know? Future Mai, her relationship with Trunks, Super Saiyan Blue Vegito, finally getting to see big and little Trunks interact, the fact that Goku never kissed Chi Chi but has two kids, f*cking Yajirobe; It’s some of the best Dragon Ball fan service out there. F*cking Black, though. Such a terrible, terrible villain. Him AND Zamasu. All of that sh*t is dumb and i hate it. Everything else is pretty okay.
Janemba
Tumblr media
Before Super, before GT, there were the non-canon Z-films. Some of the very best antagonist got their start in these What If tales, characters that i would have loved to see get a proper mention in actual canon. With the advent of Xenoverse, they are canon in some form or another but still, that feels like a haphazard half-measure. It feels like a disservice to such outstanding villains like Cooler, Bojack, Slug, and Android 13. Those cats deserved more appearances but the true crime, in my opinion, was the slighting of such awesome power creep fodder in Janemba. Dude came through in movie 12, which happens to be my favorite number, too, and completely wrecked sh*t. I mean, this is an entity of pure, concentrated evil, given form, only to concentrate that power further into the most bad-ass design in all of Dragon Ball until 21 came along, Super Janemba. It took a Super Saiyan Gogeta, the second strongest being in all of Dragon Ball up to that point, after Super Vegito. Speaking of...
Vegito
Tumblr media
Vegito is my favorite fusion on record. I love this dude. I love the design. I love the swagger. I love the blatant Vegeta influence in both aesthetic and demeanor. The second he showed up to nonchalantly body the f*ck out of Super Buu, i hooked. You can totally tell Vegeta was at the wheel of this fusion with ho brutally he fought. Sure, he had that lighthearted atmosphere that Goku exudes, but that was a feint in order to get Buu of guard. Deep down, Vegito is as calculating as my darling Prince and it showed. He embarrassed Buu, made him shake in terror, only to have all of his power stripped away. Later, when he shows up in Super and turns Blue, i lost my sh*t. There was no doubt in my mind that i was seeing the most powerful force in the entirety of the Dragon Ball canon. I mean, Gogeta when Blue, too, but it’s already been established that the Protara fusion is the stronger of the two so, once again, Vegito take that crown.
Save The World
Tumblr media
Save the World is my favorite episode of Dragon Ball Z and the perfect capper to the series. Indeed, it was supposed to be the actual end of Dragon Ball but Jump pressed Toriyama for more and we got the haphazard Buu arc in return. If you haven’t caught on yet, this episode is the final appearance of Cell. His demise at the hands of Gohan and the Father-Son Kamehameha was one for the books. The way Cell got caught in that beam and just integrated as that epic music played in the background? Beautiful. The defeated very of “ I’m Perfect” put it over the top, though. That death was too dope to see and never again topped in the Dragon Ball franchise.
I gotta cut it here for now. I didn’t realize how much of this franchise i adored. It;s insane to say, but i think i might enjoy this as much as Godzilla, Transformers, and Spider-Man. That’s wild to me. I didn’t think an anime could endear itself to me in the same way EVA did, especially such a superficial shonen like Dragon Ball. I guess this is part one of a series now. Keep an eye for number two, eventually. Maybe. We’ll see. It might come as soon as that Baby release in January. Pretty sure I'm going to be in a DB state of mind around then.

Blue Kitty au (?)
N/A: Not sure if I´ll continue with this au- I have some concerns regards Tus Tsu Kurt- but a fic from Meg Harmmerman sort give me a small inspiration to make this chapter- Remember when Kitty was being mocked by Logan and Kurt? I´d not know the canon and don´t care for that Bitch.
@djinmer4 @dannybagpipesarecalling @bamfoftheundead @everykurt @muninandhugin
Elizabeth Braddock is helping Doug with the lunches, or how she likes to call, scones- Elizabeth Braddock is ruthless as she can be kinder and is a measure so well balanced that many men have the strange impulse to view her as unbalanced- and while using telekinesis to cut a piece of bread (smiling happily at Doug clear innocence at her powers) Kitty watches the scene amused.
"Hello, Kitty" Elizabeth responds kindly while still helping Doug with the food- once her part is done, she turns to face the azzure woman- plus giving a friendly vibe. Kitty can grin back. "Hey, guys, I saw you two working here" she points to the kitchen´s window where one can see the X-men playing Baseball or their new version of Baseball. "And since I´m not a sports gal..."
"Oh, we´re already are finished here..." Betsy explains kindly- she can recall the times' Brian would try to steal a cookie from her, a bad decision for lil Brian- and Kitty shakes her head even scratching a bit-let a sheepish grin form in her round face-and now has a messy hairstyle (it so typical of Dazzler that one may assume she has a trademark or something)
"Uhm, I was hoping if you could teach me...I´m not...a good cooker" Kitty confessed- memories flow in her mind as she can see so sharply as kids are making face at her food and muttering words to themselves and pointing at Kitty "Xeno, Xeno" - and Kitty shakes her head. Out of mind, out of the heart.
Elizabeth agrees and calls Kitty over as she´ll teach her how to cook.
________________________________________________________________________________________
Rouge is an excellent player - even if she´s not very fond of Baseball, but, she can pretend like no one else- and is loving the fact she can hold hands with Longshot, under the guidance of explaining the rules, can relish the fact Longshot is not in pain or anything.
"So, I have to use this bat to play?" Longshot looks at the bat for a minute- no longer touching Rogue´s hand as he´s thoroughly investigating the bat as if trying to understand its secrets- is not one to give up on the game even if it´s confusing for him and waves at Alisson who is coming at Rogue´s direction with a fake smile.
"Dazzler! Ah was just teaching Longshot a thing or two" Rogue suggested in a tone a bit too provocative and Alisson is not happy with this.
"Yeah, I see it...why you don´t go back to the game?" she grins forcibly as the two women stare at each other with clear bad intentions to each other- the smiles are too forced to anyone to even mistaken as anything but veiled contempt- and is time to return to the game.
Jean Grey is not impressed to see Dazzler and Rogue ended up fighting even by the fact...they´re on the same team.
________________________________________________________________________________________
She´s here for a week now.
Such are the thoughts plaguing on his mind lately, one week where his golden eyes can see Kitty "Blue Baby" Pryde gliding, running and doing everything else under this mansion´s roof- a blue woman who is not Mystique, and Kurt is not sure how to act- and to take his mind out of this woman he goes to train with Logan in the Danger Room.
However, fates aren´t so kind as Kurt see Kitty "Blue Baby" entering in the danger room with snacks in her hand- a small trial and Kurt wonders if she made it or not or even if it makes any difference- as she approaches them with a smile and says that the snacks are for them.
Logan is either taking Kurt´s turmoil or is in a trolling mood because his response is the following. "You? made food? Yeah right" and waves his hand in a rude gesture-not that Logan was an ever-classy man- and continues. "Pass...already dealt with a bad simulation and don´t need to eat the Miss terror´s food to ruin the day" and he completes with his impish grin(isn´t that Kurt´s grin? Kurt is not sure)
Kurt remains in silence and if Kitty would cry or be angry as Logan was expecting, well, Logan is wrong. "Ah, I see. Yeah...my food is not that good" she concedes. "Ah, Logan...Mr. MCcoy told me your regeneration abilities is top-notch...you ever regrow an arm" and she adds a bit innocently and waits as if Logan is a teacher ready to bestow her with secret knowledge.
Logan chuckles- throwing his head as he laughs harder- and states that yes, his healing abilities are that good. "Still don´t want to try your food..." he stops talking as Kitty shoots him with her laser from her hands.
She looks at Kurt and narrows her eyes. "More snacks to me then..." and she leaves, stomping furiously and not paying attention to Piotr who enters the Danger Room and is watching Logan slowly emerging from the crater on the wall.

off the rack #1292

I sure got a heavy cardio workout yesterday scraping off the ice from both vehicles after the rain on Saturday froze under a layer of snow overnight into Sunday morning. That kind of temperature change will give you whiplash. The frozen blowing snow covered half of our birdfeeders too so I had to clear those off for our feathered friends. It's despairing when the temperature drops during the day instead of getting warmer. Stupid Arctic Air Mass.
The Red Mother #1 - Jeremy Haun (writer) Danny Luckert (art) Ed Dukeshire (letters). The first page with the disintegrating skull will give you an idea of what this beautifully drawn new story is about. Daisy and her boyfriend Luke are walking home from dinner when they are attacked in a scary black space behind an iron gate. Luke is hauled into the blackness and Daisy has her right eye plucked out but survives. By the end of this issue she's seeing scary things through a haze of red. I loved the art in this and look forward to meeting Mother.
Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy #4 - Jody Houser (writer) Adriana Melo (pencils) Mark Morales & Wade von Grawbadger (inks) Hi-Fi (colours) Gabriela Downie (letters). The Floronic Man attacks the girls again. This time in a roadside dinosaur theme park run by a crazy old lady. Poison Ivy figures out how the bad guy is tracking them and Harley fixes that problem with a machete. This is one crazy story.
Punisher Soviet #2 - Garth Ennis (writer) Jacen Burrows (pencils) Guillermo Ortego (inks) Nolan Woodard (colours) Rob Steen (letters). Frank has reluctantly taken on a teammate in his fight with a Russian mobster. This issue starts that guy's origin story.
Something is Killing the Children #4 - James Tynion IV (writer) Werther Dell'Edera (art) Miquel Muerto (colours) AndWorld Design (letters). Erica goes shopping for monster killing tools and into the woods we go. Time to meet the monster.
X-Force #3 - Benjamin Percy (writer) Joshua Cassara (art) Guru-eFX (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). The enemy is revealed and they are Xeno. Kind of reminds me of the Court of Owls from Batman. Wolverine and Kid Omega rescue Domino from their clutches while a new Charles Xavier is hatched with a rebuilt Cerebro to lead the war. I liked how Magneto made a sword for Charles from the broken Cerebro helmet.
The Dollhouse Family #2 - M. R. Carey (writer) Peter Gross (layouts) Vince Locke (finishes) Cris Peter (colours) Todd Klein (letters). Maybe I'm wrong but I suspect that the M. in the writer credit stands for Mike. I loved Mike Carey's Vertigo books and this has a very familiar feel. I like how the house is a character too.
The Immortal Hulk #28 - Al Ewing (writer) Tom Reilly & Matias Bergara (art) Chris O'Halloran (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). The villain gets the spotlight this issue as Roxxon C.E.O. Dario Agger tries to find a way to fight the Hulk. He goes to find an ally on Monster Isle and I laughed when I saw who it was.
Valkyrie #6 - Al Ewing & Jason Aaron (writers) Pere Perez (art) Jesus Aburtov (colours) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). What a great read. This is an example of how two good writers can produce a highly enjoyable issue of a comic book. Add to that very nice art and you've got a "pick of the week". Part one of "Strange Aeons" starts a new story where Val needs to put together a team to save Death. Doctor Strange is her first recruit and Night Nurse, Cardiac, Doctor Faiza Hussain AKA Excalibur and Manikin make the journey to the valley of the shadow of death. Talk about D-list, but I trust that Al and Jason will make good use of these heroes.
Detective Comics #1017 - Tom Taylor (writer) Fernando Blanco (art) John Kalisz (colours) Travis Lanham (letters). This is a great one issue story if you want to see why this comic book is on my "must read" list. Batman solves two crimes and I was happy to see Damian helping out. If Tom Taylor did a Robin book, I'd read that too.
Fantastic Four #17 - Dan Slott (writer) Luciano Vecchio, Carlos Magno, Bob Quinn & Sean Izaakse (art) Erick Arciniega (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). I was wondering why this story was called "Point of Origin" and this issue explain why. We all know that the Fantastic Four were bombarded with cosmic rays when they took their maiden flight and that's what gave them their super powers. Little did we know it wasn't an accident. It's a subtle change and doesn't make a lot of difference in the grand scheme of things but it is kind of neat.
Miles Morales: Spider-Man #13 - Saladin Ahmed (writer) Javier Garron (art pages 1-2, 16-20) Kevin Libranda (art pages 3-8) & Alitha Martinez (art pages 9-13) David Curiel & Protobunker (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). I usually get annoyed when an issue is drawn by a bunch of different artists but Javier, Kevin and Alitha all did a splendid job and the story flowed seamlessly. The awesome colouring job helped too. Say hello to Billie Mariana Morales. Miles is now a big brother.
Superman #18 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) Ivan Reis (pencils) Joe Prado (inks) Alex Sinclair (colours) Dave Sharpe (letters). As big a Brian Bendis fan that I am, I stopped reading this title because I wasn't interested in what was happening in the book. Now I'm interested again. Superman drops a bomb that's going to explode into all kinds of repercussions. I liked how Wonder Woman, Batman and Lex Luthor reacted to the news even though they don't utter a word. That's great art right there. The cover will give you a hint to what Superman's announcement is.
Fallen Angels #3 - Bryan Hill (writer) Szymon Kudranski (art) Frank D'Armata (colours) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). Cable, Psylocke and X-23's mission to save some children continues and one of the heroes is captured by the enemy. I hope their next story happens in the daytime because these issues have been very dark.
Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child#1 - Frank Miller (writer) Rafael Grampa (art) Jordie Bellaire (colours) John Workman & Deron Bennett (letters). No returning Dark Knight since this story features Lara, Jonathan and Carrie, the kids of the Big Two. They battle old man Joker and old man Darkseid. I loved the art. The writing was annoyingly repetitive. That seems to be Franks writing style now using lots of verbs and choppy little captions. I don't like it. The thing about comic books is that the art and writing go hand in hand and I just couldn't stop reading the words part way and just look at the pretty pictures. Seeing Greta Thunberg on the last page just made me love Rafael even more.
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #14 - Tom Taylor (writer) Marguerite Sauvage (art flashback) Ken Lashley (art) Marguerite Sauvage & Rachelle Rosenberg (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). Crappydoodles! This is the last issue. I am sad. I enjoyed the entire 14-issue run. It was Juann Cabal's art that got me hooked but Tom's writing kept me reading. His stories were very Mister Rogers and I liked them a lot. He showed Peter committed to his sense of responsibility and ended this issue nicely. I'm going to miss this title.
The Batman's Grave #3 - Warren Ellis (writer) Bryan Hitch (pencils) Kevin Nowlan (inks) Alex Sinclair (colours) Richard Starkings (letters). Batman is working on a case of murder disguised as a suicide. I like how this issue starts and ends with him working the case with Alfred in the Batcave that bookends 10 pages of wordless solo crime scene investigation and a fight with an intruder for a crucial clue.
2099: Doom #1 - Chip Zdarsky (writer) Marco Castiello (art) Chris Sotomayor (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). This one-shot doesn't add much to the overall story but I like Chip's writing so I read it. Victor winds up in 2099 fighting his future self. The last page doesn't make a lot of sense so skipping this comic won't hurt much.
2099: Spider-Man #1 - Nick Spencer (writer) Ze Carlos (art) Brian Reber & Andrew Crossley (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). I was as confused as the Miguel in this story when I got to the end. We get a sense of what's happening in 2099 that's bad for everyone but there's no connection to the main story as far as I can make out. These 2099 one-shots have been a waste of time, which doesn't bode well for Marvel's next big event. I'll read 2099 Omega to see if there's a point to this story and I'll read The Amazing Spider-Man #36 that ties into this event because that book is on my "must read" list, but Nick Spencer is skating on thin ice with me.
Annihilation - Scourge: Beta Ray Bill #1 - Michael Moreci (writer) Alberto Alburquerque (art) Jay David Ramos (colours) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). This was a good single issue story. Beta Ray Bill goes up against the Sentry and saves our universe from the scourge of the Cancerverse. I liked that he's teamed up with Lockjaw.
Annihilation - Scourge: Silver Surfer #1 - Dan Abnett (writer) Paul Davidson (art) Matt Milla (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). I was asked recently if the Silver Surfer was good or evil after the Silver Surfer Black story and I didn't know the answer until now. This tie-in one-shot takes place right after Silver Surfer Black as Norrin Radd breaches the barrier between the positive universe and the Negative Zone to investigate what's causing the mass exodus from Annihilus's realm. Here he finds the means of defeating the Void controlled Sentry and thereby save two universes. He also discovers the ability to merge with another being sort of like DC's Deadman.

I just read your thing about your WIP with the aro character and it literally sounds so amazing please tell me more
omg yes yes okay thank u sm here is a big ramble below the cut!!!!! cw for emotionally abusive family members.
okay SO!! the book has two main characters, brian (he/him, aroace) and xeno (they/them, non-SAM aro). they became roommates in their junior year of college through chance. they are both autistic (and brian has adhd), but brian tends to be hyposensitive (needs more stimulation) and xeno tends to be hypersensitive (needs less stimulation) and i think possibly brian didn't know he was autistic at this point, so for a while they had lots of clashes through their sensory needs being so unaligned, and not properly thinking to communicate about it. xeno could not stand brian for probably the first five or six months they knew each other.
but at about the six month point, the two of them started to figure things out, and they also found out that they were both aro (they'd each known, but hadn't told each other) (brian came into xeno's room for the first time (they are a very private person and did not allow him in before), saw their aro flag on the wall, and went "!!!!!!!!!!!" about it). so there was a little bit of awkward transition as they started to figure out how to coexist in a way that met both of their needs, and then they started to get along much better, to the point where they decided to stay roommates for their senior year.
over the course of that year, they grew much much closer, and ultimately entered into a qpr with each other. they continued living together after they graduated. the novel starts midway through the first year after they graduated college, so they're both 23-24.
now!! here is where things get interesting. brian is a wizard, and comes from a whole magical family. but his family is mmmm extremely Not Good. they dedicate themselves to saving the world from monsters (there's a lot more technicality/worldbuilding around this, it's a lot more complicated than that, but that's the tl;dr of it). but the thing is, if you are constantly fighting monsters, sometimes you don't win. and if the monsters want to end the world, not winning is not an option. so the family really prioritizes having Lots of family members, so that there is always enough backup that someone dying won't meant the world ends. but this results in the mindset that any individual family member is expendable. it is a very toxic and traumatizing environment to grow up in; there's a lot of strict hierarchy going on, and a lot of prescribed roles people are expected to fill, and deviating from those roles is heavily frowned upon.
brian is kid number 4 of 9 in his own lineup of siblings, and has a ton of cousins. he wound up taking on the role of peacekeeper in his immediate family. he had to do a lot of managing the emotions of his older siblings and parents, and a lot of parenting his younger siblings, all while neglecting his own needs. so he is a very sweet boy, very attentive to the needs of others, and very good at ignoring his own needs. he has 0 self esteem and does not believe he matters at all, but is really good at hiding it.
he came out to his family as aroace when he was a freshman in college; he'd known for a while, but hadn't told anyone. the reason he decided to come out is that he didn't feel comfortable with the idea of bringing a partner or children into the family, when the family business is so dangerous, because if anything were ever to happen to them he'd consider it his fault. he loves children very much and would love to be a parent, but he doesn't think it is possible for him to do that, because he's unwilling to let his children be part of the family business, and doesn't believe it is possible to cut his family off when he's so used to being controlled by them. and so, even though his reasons for not wanting kids or a partner had nothing to do with his being aroace, he used coming out as an "excuse" for why he wasn't comfortable with that, rather than tell his family the truth about why he won't have kids.
now, the thing is, from brian's behavior, most people tend to assume he's gay, which he has very mixed feelings about. but his family are among the people who assumed he's gay. they were perfectly ready to be supportive of that when he came out, but they were taken off guard by his being aroace, and by his announcement about his intention not to have kids when that's such a big value in the family. so brian was put in a state of semi-disownment where his family refused to talk to him and forbade him from contacting his younger siblings (which he was very crushed over).
xeno, on the other hand, had a really nice childhood in a well-adjusted family that was supportive of their gender and their aroness and their autism. they have two moms, and two siblings, one older and one younger (i forget what the genders of the siblings are, but i do have it written down somewhere). at least one of their moms, possibly both, is/are (a) lawyer(s) (this will be important towards the end of the story). their moms also have like. intimidating scary goth x nonthreatening-but-actually-equally-as-dangerous bubblegum pink vibes. it's great.
xeno majored in accounting in college (which will also be important towards the end of the story), and wants to go into accountancy, but currently they work at the local library. i think they probably have a special interest in math (which means i have to do research about math to write them well, rip me lol) (they probably also have a little bit of shame/internalized ableism going on about it, all "oh i have such a stereotypical SpIn, im a bad autistic" </3 but they've been working on working through that for a while now, and it's much better than it was in for example high school). they have alexithymia and really struggle with projecting the socially appropriate emotions for a given social situation.
so that's how things stand going into the opening of the novel, when brian's family decide that it's time to bring brian back into the fold. his two oldest siblings, marlena and garrett (marlena is in line to become the matriarch of the family, garrett is her second in command, they are both very manipulative people) show up to get brian's help with defeating the latest threat to the world (which is, again, an oversimplification, there's a ton of worldbuilding around what they're actually trying to do, but that's the gist of what they're doing).
brian desperately tries to get them to leave before xeno comes home by agreeing to their every demand, but he isn't fast enough and xeno arrives while marlena and garrett are still there. now, xeno has picked up, from things brian has let slip in the past, that his family is Not Great and Probably Emotionally Abusive, so they immediately go into fighting mode to protect brian.
marlena, meanwhile, notices right away how close brian and xeno are. she doesn't really understand what a qpr is, but she does process that xeno is very important to brian and he would clearly do pretty much anything to keep them safe. so in her mind, xeno immediately becomes a target (which is what brian was afraid of and why he wanted her to leave before xeno got home), the idea being that if she can convince xeno to go along with what she wants and join the family business, brian will follow, and she'll have full control over him again like she was used to growing up. the problem with that plan being that xeno is extremely stubborn and strongly distrusts magic and has also already decided that they hate marlena's guts, so. convincing them to join the family is Not Going To Happen.
marlena and garrett want brian to come with them, and xeno is unwilling to let brian go anywhere with his family, but brian feels like he Has To go. marlena proposes that xeno can come along. brian is adamantly opposed to this idea, wanting to keep xeno away from his family for their own safety, but he won't defy his family enough to not go with them. and xeno also doesn't want to go, but isn't willing to leave brian, so they agree to come along.
after a stop at brian's family home to pick up some magic supplies as well as his younger sibling arlo (they/them), who is just old enough to begin going on these types of quests, they begin basically a Magical Road Trip. wherein xeno has their distrust of magic challenged, brian has his belief that he must obey his family challenged, and a whole lot of fun and interesting spoiler-y stuff happens in the effort to Save The World, from a threat it turns out the likes of which have not been seen in living memory.
i am currently almost done with the plotting stage for this story, and then i plan to write it, edit it, and start looking for an agent!! i have been writing (mostly fantasy novels) for almost nine years now, and i think between the amount i've developed my writing skills, the hook for the story, and my level of investment in this story, i'm ready to try and get published. so. the goal is for this to be an actual real book that people can buy, sometime within the next few years. we'll see how it goes!!
