Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) Masterpost
Tumblr media
Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) is a Vocal synth (Vocaloid and SynthV) music project. It consists of songs themed around different figures throughout Chinese history. The project is a collaboration between different artists and creatives, with music and videos featuring prominent traditional Chinese elements. The project's title translates to "The Records of Magnificence of the Wangchuan" - In Chinese mythology, "Wangchuan" (or River of Forgetting) is a river in the Underworld that can rid one of their past life's memories, similar to the river Lethe.
A mobile game adaptation has also been developed by NetEast. Unfortunately, I haven't played it so I can't give much insight on it. However, I assume that its premise is similar to that of the idea behind the project as a whole: all these historical figures meeting each other in the Underworld after they died. Maybe.
You can find all the songs on Bilibili. The official Weibo can be found here. The game's website, which includes all characters appearing so far in the game, can be found here, and its Weibo can be found here.
(If you prefer YouTube, I've also put together a handy playlist. Please know that most of these videos are reposts though, so please watch the original Bilibili MVs if you can!)
This blog is where I will be posting everything I feel like I need to say about the songs in this project. A lot of it is lifted from my Twitter account but will be in much more detail. Note that I probably won't touch collab songs, or songs that don't focus solely on the project's own characters.
Disclaimer: I do not speak Chinese, nor am I an expert on Chinese history. Therefore, I cannot reliably translate the lyrics to these songs, nor my words should be taken as gospel. I am merely a nerd gushing about my hyperfixation.

Mysterious Lotus Case Book
Year : 2023 | Country : CN | Nb of episodes: 40
My rate: 7/10
Synopsis :
Ten years ago, Li Xiang Yi, the master of the Sigu Sect, dominated with his superior swordsmanship and was a symbol of light in the martial arts world. However, he suddenly disappeared along with Di Fei Sheng, the leader of the Jinyuan Alliance, after they arranged to battle in the East Sea.
Ten years later, Li Lian Hua is a countryside doctor who travels dragging around a lotus tower. He accidentally becomes "famous" and gets pulled into the pugilistic world that he no longer wants to have any connections with. Fang Duo Bing, a passionate youth who dreams of becoming a hero, realizes that Li Lian Hua is not a simple man and vows to find proof that Li Lian Hua has been impersonating a famous doctor. Meanwhile, Di Fei Sheng, who has always regarded Li Xiang Yi as a fierce enemy, has also reemerged in the pugilistic world and recognizes that the unremarkable doctor Li Lian Hua is none other than Li Xiang Yi.
After a series of cases, Li Lian Hua, Di Fei Sheng and Fang Duo Bing gradually come to forge a deep friendship and join hands in solving mysterious cases to uphold justice.
Main cast :
Cheng Yi as Li Lianhua (voiced by Cheng Yi) / Li Xiangyi
Xu Wei Luo as Li Xiangyi (teen)
Xie Zi Mo (谢子墨) as Li Xiangyi (child)
Zeng Shun Xi as Fang Duobing (Fang Xiaobao)
Lu Jin Hao as Fang Xiaobao (young)
Xiao Shun Yao as Di Feisheng
Xu Jia Xi as Di Feisheng (young)
My thoughts on this drama :
From the reviews I had read online, this was supposed to be as good at The Blood of Youth. For me, it was not. Don't get me wrong! It is a very good drama. The overall absence of romance is a big plus (it's there in the background but has no direct impact on the story itself more than in a few flashbacks that I enjoyed skipping).
What bothered me most is that the second hero was such a dimwit. All muscle no brain. Yes he's pretty young and all, but that wannabe detective was just dumb. He relied completely on Lianhua's deduction before finding the solution to all cases (but still taking all credit for solving it heh...). It took a bit too long for the big reveal of the main lead's identity, and I found truly ridiculous that his old pals did not recognize him as soon as they saw him. He was pretty much walking out there looking the same as ten year prior, sometimes wearing a mask that hid nothing.... but that's a common trope in Cdramaland so.... Big thumb up to the redemption arc of the initial "villain". The friendship born of it was amazing to see, and I was very much rooting for more interactions between the three main characters. The side characters also did their job, adding drama and comic relief to the story. The backstory that unraveled slowly up to the finale was splendidly executed, and I felt terrible for Lianhua when he realized the whole truth. I have a small regret though: for a Wuxia drama, there weren't that many awesome fights, and the rare ones were so short they lacked impact.
Anyway, it  is still a good drama, Cheng Yi prove once again that he's a true talent of this generation, and I hope to see him take one more dramas and movies (no dumb romcom) to showcase his impressive capacity to show emotions with his eyes and micro expressions. He convinced me back in Immortal Samsara, now I'm just another fan...

T’owal T’uesday #13
Tumblr media
I’m changing the T’owal alphabet again! I would say I should have seen this coming but last time I did say “There may yet be further changes—we’ll see!”
I decided I wanted to make some changes while working on the font. I was writing with pen and paper and found that certain letters were a little too similar and were hard to distinguish when I was writing quickly. Plus, I’d never really liked the forms of the letters for i and x. All that together meant it was time for a revision.
Thinking about the alphabet led me to wondering about the status of h and x in T’owal. I suspected that I could combine the two into one phoneme without too many problems. As it turns out, there are only three minimal pairs that are contrasted only by the difference between h and x:
hen “to breathe” and xen “to be the same”
hi “inside” and xi “go to/towards” (both featured in last week’s post, coincidentally)
hu “to be” and xu “there/that/those”
Some of those are pretty common words so I’m not sure that I do want to change them, but I am leaning towards doing so. I’d definitely keep hu and xi as they’re the most common words of the six, though the latter would now be spelled hi. For now, anyway, the alphabet has one fewer letter than it did before.
At the top of the post is the text from this post, translating the first bit of one chapter of The Left Hand of Darkness. Below is the beginning of the same passage, written a little more carefully:
Tumblr media
Here’s a pangram which translates to “In the winter I wear a magic yellow onion because it makes the cat’s whiskers warm.” Since this pangram was made two revisions ago I could probably make a shorter one now.
Tumblr media
And finally, a translation of the classic line “He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders just before she died”:
Tumblr media
That’s Mó é o tal su e gas i Ámason, tswés bós gwíwil, psíl tset ót í, k’ép bós. It’s at least as awkward in T’owal as it is in English.

Strange Beasts of China is set in the city of Yong’an. Here, many races of humanoid ‘beasts’ live amongst the humans, in a similar fashion to Tolkien’s elves and dwarves.
These beasts all have aesthetic and behavioural characteristics which identify them as part of the Sacrificial Beasts, Flourishing Beasts, Sorrowful Beasts etc. (booksandbao)
Fu Ping by Wang Anyi
Fu Ping is set in Shanghai, at a moment in time that is neither modern nor ancient, as the Cultural Revolution of Mao Zedong and the Communist Party has forever changed the landscape of China. (booksandbao)
Monkey King by Wu Cheng’en
Sun Wukong travels and studies and gets ever stronger until he has mastered death itself and ends up picking a fight with every angel in heaven. He is then sealed beneath a mountain for 500 years by Buddha himself.
The rest of the novel follows the fabled journey to the West, as a young monk is tasked by heaven to deliver some scriptures from China to India.
Early on his travels, he stumbles across the sealed Monkey King, frees him, and takes him on as an apprentice in an attempt to reform the wild Sun Wukong. (booksandbao)
The Shadow Book of Ji Yun by Ji Yun
Ji Yun was an 18th Century Chinese philosopher and politician who wrote a frankly obscene number of short accounts concerning supernatural phenomena and spiritual experiences.(booksandbao)
The Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu
Set against the backdrop of China's Cultural Revolution, a secret military project sends signals into space to establish contact with aliens. An alien civilization on the brink of destruction captures the signal and plans to invade Earth.(us.macmillan)
Waste Tide by Chen Qiufan
In Chinese science fiction author Chen Qiufan's debut novel Waste Tide, a young woman finds herself transformed and stuck in the midst of a vicious power struggle between factions in the polluted, fictitious Silicon Isle in Guiyu, China. (theverge)
Chronicle of a Blood Merchant by Yu Hua
A man named Xu Sanguan learns that you can sell your own blood for a good price — all you have to do is make sure to drink an inordinate number of bowls of water before you go. As he grows into a husband and father, part of a complicated family, he continues to return to the hospital through famine and struggle. This book is compelling for the twists and turns of its family turmoil, but also for the description of this blood-selling subculture and the questions it raises. What does it mean to be family — is it only defined by blood? And what if the only capital you have is your own body, your own energy, your own blood?(bookriot)
The Day the Sun Died by Lan Yianke
One evening in early June, in a small Chinese town, Li Niannian notices that something is wrong. Everyone should be going home, heading to sleep. But instead, they’re all wandering in the darkness — sleepwalking. And over the course of one night, these sleeping townspeople will fall into chaos: secrets revealed, violence unleashed, past hurts unearthed. Lianke’s novel is a dystopian tale meant to challenge the “Chinese dream” promoted by President Xi Jinping, parodying the sunny vision of the government of what the Chinese people believe, contrasting it with the shame and madness of what’s unearthed in the darkness of night as Li Niannian and his father try to wake up their town. (bookriot)
I Live in the Slums by Can Xue
Can Xue’s works are famously surreal, strange, and amorphous. So her absurd short stories are probably the best place to try out her style. In this book, the characters flee and shift, trying to fit in, trying to find a place free of abuse, where they can be safe, in a world defined by scattered-ness, by lack of community, by inequality. A young man searches for a magic pond, a Kafka-esque rat-person tries to find peace, a magpie protects its partner from human neighbors. Can Xue’s pen name refers to the snow left over at the end of winter — she chose to write under a pseudonym to hide her gender while publishing her radical, experimental fiction. (bookriot)
The Seventh Day by Yu Hua
Arguably, the prolific and acclaimed Yu Hua’s best-known novel in English, The Seventh Day, is the story of Yang Fei, a foundling brought up in the Chinese countryside who becomes an outsider to its society, only to die and roam the afterlife revisiting the people he has lost in the course of his life. The result is a composite of China’s panoramic history with all of its highs and lows. (theculturetrip)

Last night I got high and wrote a program to find all of the unused elemental symbols. It turns out there’s 585 of them and it’s much less interesting the next day.
One interesting finding: I couldn’t be bothered to generate all possible one and two letter strings, so I asked ChatGPT to write me code that would do all that for me. It worked surprisingly well!
['a', 'd', 'e', 'g', 'h', 'j', 'l', 'm', 'q', 'r', 't', 'x', 'z', 'aa', 'ab', 'ad', 'ae', 'af', 'ah', 'ai', 'aj', 'ak', 'an', 'ao', 'ap', 'aq', 'av', 'aw', 'ax', 'ay', 'az', 'bb', 'bc', 'bd', 'bf', 'bg', 'bj', 'bl', 'bm', 'bn', 'bo', 'bp', 'bq', 'bs', 'bt', 'bu', 'bv', 'bw', 'bx', 'by', 'bz', 'cb', 'cc', 'cg', 'ch', 'ci', 'cj', 'ck', 'cp', 'cq', 'ct', 'cv', 'cw', 'cx', 'cy', 'cz', 'da', 'dc', 'dd', 'de', 'df', 'dg', 'dh', 'di', 'dj', 'dk', 'dl', 'dm', 'dn', 'do', 'dp', 'dq', 'dr', 'dt', 'du', 'dv', 'dw', 'dx', 'dz', 'ea', 'eb', 'ec', 'ed', 'ee', 'ef', 'eg', 'eh', 'ei', 'ej', 'ek', 'el', 'em', 'en', 'eo', 'ep', 'eq', 'et', 'ev', 'ew', 'ex', 'ey', 'ez', 'fa', 'fb', 'fc', 'fd', 'ff', 'fg', 'fh', 'fi', 'fj', 'fk', 'fn', 'fo', 'fp', 'fq', 'fs', 'ft', 'fu', 'fv', 'fw', 'fx', 'fy', 'fz', 'gb', 'gc', 'gf', 'gg', 'gh', 'gi', 'gj', 'gk', 'gl', 'gm', 'gn', 'go', 'gp', 'gq', 'gr', 'gs', 'gt', 'gu', 'gv', 'gw', 'gx', 'gy', 'gz', 'ha', 'hb', 'hc', 'hd', 'hh', 'hi', 'hj', 'hk', 'hl', 'hm', 'hn', 'hp', 'hq', 'hr', 'ht', 'hu', 'hv', 'hw', 'hx', 'hy', 'hz', 'ia', 'ib', 'ic', 'id', 'ie', 'if', 'ig', 'ih', 'ii', 'ij', 'ik', 'il', 'im', 'io', 'ip', 'iq', 'is', 'it', 'iu', 'iv', 'iw', 'ix', 'iy', 'iz', 'ja', 'jb', 'jc', 'jd', 'je', 'jf', 'jg', 'jh', 'ji', 'jj', 'jk', 'jl', 'jm', 'jn', 'jo', 'jp', 'jq', 'jr', 'js', 'jt', 'ju', 'jv', 'jw', 'jx', 'jy', 'jz', 'ka', 'kb', 'kc', 'kd', 'ke', 'kf', 'kg', 'kh', 'ki', 'kj', 'kk', 'kl', 'km', 'kn', 'ko', 'kp', 'kq', 'ks', 'kt', 'ku', 'kv', 'kw', 'kx', 'ky', 'kz', 'lb', 'lc', 'ld', 'le', 'lf', 'lg', 'lh', 'lj', 'lk', 'll', 'lm', 'ln', 'lo', 'lp', 'lq', 'ls', 'lt', 'lw', 'lx', 'ly', 'lz', 'ma', 'mb', 'me', 'mf', 'mh', 'mi', 'mj', 'mk', 'ml', 'mm', 'mp', 'mq', 'mr', 'ms', 'mu', 'mv', 'mw', 'mx', 'my', 'mz', 'nc', 'nf', 'ng', 'nj', 'nk', 'nl', 'nm', 'nn', 'nq', 'nr', 'ns', 'nt', 'nu', 'nv', 'nw', 'nx', 'ny', 'nz', 'oa', 'ob', 'oc', 'od', 'oe', 'of', 'oh', 'oi', 'oj', 'ok', 'ol', 'om', 'on', 'oo', 'op', 'oq', 'or', 'ot', 'ou', 'ov', 'ow', 'ox', 'oy', 'oz', 'pc', 'pe', 'pf', 'pg', 'ph', 'pi', 'pj', 'pk', 'pl', 'pn', 'pp', 'pq', 'ps', 'pv', 'pw', 'px', 'py', 'pz', 'qa', 'qb', 'qc', 'qd', 'qe', 'qf', 'qg', 'qh', 'qi', 'qj', 'qk', 'ql', 'qm', 'qn', 'qo', 'qp', 'qq', 'qr', 'qs', 'qt', 'qu', 'qv', 'qw', 'qx', 'qy', 'qz', 'rc', 'rd', 'ri', 'rj', 'rk', 'rl', 'rm', 'ro', 'rp', 'rq', 'rr', 'rs', 'rt', 'rv', 'rw', 'rx', 'ry', 'rz', 'sa', 'sd', 'sf', 'sh', 'sj', 'sk', 'sl', 'so', 'sp', 'sq', 'ss', 'st', 'su', 'sv', 'sw', 'sx', 'sy', 'sz', 'td', 'tf', 'tg', 'tj', 'tk', 'tn', 'to', 'tp', 'tq', 'tr', 'tt', 'tu', 'tv', 'tw', 'tx', 'ty', 'tz', 'ua', 'ub', 'uc', 'ud', 'ue', 'uf', 'ug', 'uh', 'ui', 'uj', 'uk', 'ul', 'um', 'un', 'uo', 'up', 'uq', 'ur', 'us', 'ut', 'uu', 'uv', 'uw', 'ux', 'uy', 'uz', 'va', 'vb', 'vc', 'vd', 've', 'vf', 'vg', 'vh', 'vi', 'vj', 'vk', 'vl', 'vm', 'vn', 'vo', 'vp', 'vq', 'vr', 'vs', 'vt', 'vu', 'vv', 'vw', 'vx', 'vy', 'vz', 'wa', 'wb', 'wc', 'wd', 'we', 'wf', 'wg', 'wh', 'wi', 'wj', 'wk', 'wl', 'wm', 'wn', 'wo', 'wp', 'wq', 'wr', 'ws', 'wt', 'wu', 'wv', 'ww', 'wx', 'wy', 'wz', 'xa', 'xb', 'xc', 'xd', 'xf', 'xg', 'xh', 'xi', 'xj', 'xk', 'xl', 'xm', 'xn', 'xo', 'xp', 'xq', 'xr', 'xs', 'xt', 'xu', 'xv', 'xw', 'xx', 'xy', 'xz', 'ya', 'yc', 'yd', 'ye', 'yf', 'yg', 'yh', 'yi', 'yj', 'yk', 'yl', 'ym', 'yn', 'yo', 'yp', 'yq', 'yr', 'ys', 'yt', 'yu', 'yv', 'yw', 'yx', 'yy', 'yz', 'za', 'zb', 'zc', 'zd', 'ze', 'zf', 'zg', 'zh', 'zi', 'zj', 'zk', 'zl', 'zm', 'zo', 'zp', 'zq', 'zs', 'zt', 'zu', 'zv', 'zw', 'zx', 'zy', 'zz']

Associazione Patriottica Cinese di Taiwan 💕
Partito per la Promozione dell'Unificazione Cinese a Taiwan 💕
Federazione Cinese per lo Sviluppo della Pace nello Stretto 💕

⚠️ MANY TAIWAN ARMY GENERALS WANT CHINESE REUNIFICATION ⚠️
✍️ In the article "Taiwan Army Generals Are Openly Sympathetic to China", 黃永熙 writes: «It is no secret that many retired Taiwan military are pro-Chinese and support the Unification of the Chinese Nation», underlining how - since the 1990s 00 - more than thirty retired Taiwanese officials traveled to the PRC to meet with members of the Communist Party of China and the People's Liberation Army ⭐️
😍 Most of the cross-strait exchanges are organized by 黄埔军校同学会, a civilian organization under the leadership of the United Front Work Department, which includes the Communist Party of China and the other Eight Political Parties in the national assembly of the people and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference 🚩
🤗 The task of 黄埔军校同学会 is the Peaceful Reunification Work through the "One Country, Two Systems" Principle, promoting Chinese Patriotism and Prosperity of the Nation 🇨🇳
☀️ In addition to General Xu Lilong, already discussed on the Shaoshan Collective, there is General Chen Ting-chung (陈廷宠) - Commander of the Sixth Taiwan Army from 1988 to 1990, and Chief of the Armed Forces from 1991 to 1993 🇹🇼
😉 After retiring, the General began to openly criticize Taiwan's separatism, and - in 2016 - went with 32 Taiwanese military officers to Beijing to hear a speech by President Xi Jinping on Chinese Reunification 🇨🇳
😌 In 2020, when the DPP separatist clique had now come to power, the General spoke to the Taiwan Military Academy, declaring: «I am Chinese, this is a symbol of pride. There is a lot of scum in our nation willing to sell Taiwan to become a little dog of Americans and Japanese» 🤧
☀️ General Kao An Kuo (高安国), also retired, uploaded - in July 2021 - a video on social media, in which he urged Taiwanese soldiers to prepare for mutiny if the People's Liberation Army were to launch a military operation on the island, "for the sake of national righteousness" ⭐️
🤧 Also, the General, as a patriot, said that Taiwan's armed forces should "overthrow the DPP in one fell swoop" and save the People of the Island from anti-Chinese separatism 😍
🤔 As written by 黃永熙, it is reasonable to think that the vast majority of the military in Taiwan have a hidden sympathy towards the Reunification, as the DPP is anti-patriotic and constantly declares war on its own History and Culture 😡
☀️ In 2010, General Xia Yingzhou, also retired, and behind the Air Force Command in Taiwan, said, "We should no longer separate the ROC Army and the People's Liberation Army, we are all the 'Chinese Army' 🇨🇳
🐰 Over the years, the vast majority of KMT members have abandoned their anti-Communism and anti-CPC positions, and the Patriotic Forces Front in the Taiwan puppet regime is growing, even though it is constantly being hampered by Tsai Ing- wen:
🔺Ma Ying-jeou (KMT): "People on both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to the same family" 😍
🔺Yok Mu-ming (NP): "Taiwan and Mainland China are one family" 😍
Taiwan Patriotic Association of China 💕
China Taiwan Unification Promotion Party 💕
Chinese Federation for the Development of Straits Peace 💕

I’m soo behind I know I know no one say anything, butttt I finally watched Shang-Chi and the ten rings and ahhhhh!!!!. I loved it. I like watching shows when they’ve already come out and have gotten old I get all the spoilers the who to ships and the low down on who dies (Note to self never use this phrase again) anywaaay on to the……
SPOILERS
So the most important thing about this show is of course Katy played by a lovely actress whose name i will be adding when I look it up. I love her in everything though but especially in Oceans 8. And I loved her in this, her funny banter, her obvious bisexuality (go on fight on this in the comments I will literally just pretend like I can’t read), her whole storyline on finding her place. I watched that and I was like that’s me!!! On screen right there. That my thing! Anywayyyy im in love but for once not with her, with Xu Xialing.
Everytime a new part of her back story got revealed my heart kinda went oh baby… and for a bit there I was trying to decide if I hated Shang because as a big sister the idea of leaving your younger sibling in an abusive household… I couldn’t and I didn’t, but fourteen man I know that at fourteen any chance to escape is…. And eventually I decided I couldn’t hate him for it because well it’s understandable.
Xi Xialing though got the worst end of the stick and everytime she got to hit him I admit I kinda cheered her on.
Ahhh so much to say about this while it’s fresh…. But I need sleep ☹️
Im going to forget this in the morning too…..
