Imagin what it was like for the other kids at school to see yadriel with Julian, like to them it's Julian "skipping most of school, starting shit and getting into fights, thought to be in a gang with his friends" diaz all of the sudden dating Yadriel "quiet goth trans kid, who lives in the cemetery and only hangs around and talk to his cousin and her friends" Velez flores.

[TRIGGER WARNING: BLOOD]
Tumblr media
“He knew exactly what his mom would do if she were here. The same thing he was going to do.” - CEMETERY BOYS by Aiden Thomas
I’ve long wanted to bring this scene to life, and it took my patrons to finally give me the courage to draw it! This book was the winner of the August fanart poll on my Patreon, and the scene depicts the critical moment when Yadriel decides he’s going to sacrifice himself to [REDACTED]. (If you know, you know.) I’m proud of how it came out, gazillion light sources and spoopyness and all. 💕🕯📿☠️🗡
PS: If you’d like a say in the future fanart I draw, consider joining my Patreon!

Round 3, Bracket 2
Propaganda under the cut, feel free to add more in reblogs and comments
Nimona – Ballister Blackheart was once a noble knight, but after being faced with prejudice from the institution, he becomes an anti-hero. Soon, a shapeshifter appears on his doorstep, Nimona, and offers to become his side-kick and help him in all his evil deeds against the institution. Ballister has a friend turned nemesis, Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin (who in the movie adaptation they are confirmed to be in a romantic relationship with each other) whom works for the institution and the evil director.
Cemetery Boys – When Yadriel tries summoning the ghost of his murdered cousin to set it free, with his cousin and best friend, he accidentally summons the school bad boy, Julian. Julian is not going to die without a fight and the two of them team up so that they can get what they want. The more time the two spend with each other, the less Julian wants to go back to the land of the dead.
One Last Stop – August moves to NYC to escape her mother trying to solve the case of her missing brother (August’s uncle), finding an apartment with so many friendly people. On her subway commute, she notices a girl who rocks a vintage 70s outfit and starts to feel things for her. Jane. After a few conversations during her commute on the Q train (which Jane seems to always be on), she realises that Jane is literally from the 1970s, taken out of time. August’s life is filled with mysteries all over again, but this time she’s invested.

since im apparently known for associating fictional characters with crane wives songs at this point, let me just say:
yadriel is curses and teo is icarus
(it’s crazy how many fictional characters relate to curses)
edit: julian is the hand that feeds and aurelio is never love an anchor

“¿Me dejas robarte un beso?” - Julian, CEMETERY BOYS by Aiden Thomas
(Translation: “Would you let me steal a kiss?”)
What a joy to have been able to give this one to Aiden Thomas in person tonight at the Loyalty Books event here in the DC area. The piece was commissioned by Fire Nation Creations and highlights one of my all-time favorite scenes from the book where Julian and Yadriel steal the blue Stingray convertible and make for the coast (and in which Julian breaks form to speak beautiful, romantic Spanish to Yadriel. *swoons*) Hearing Aiden talk with Rosanne A. Brown about writing and world building tonight was the highlight of my month, and his reaction to the art was everything I could hope for. I can’t wait to dig into his new novel, THE SUNBEARER TRIALS, and get inspired all over again! (Seriously, this book is going to be intensity in ten cities, and I am READY.) 🥺
