Had I known what I wanted to make Runerigus look like, I would've made Galarian Yanmask look different.

My coworker is obsessed with pokemon go but she's never played ANY of the source series games before and finds at least the switch games hard to play just from looking over my shoulder. I think I wanna tell her the messed up pokedexes of the pokemon she has just to see her reaction and whether or not she'd immediately believe me.

"Ash's dad is a gym leader, we just havent met him" Plausible.... but what if he stepped in the tall grass without a starter and was mauled by a Usaring "Ash's dad is Giovanni or some other insert villain here character" Technically not impossible.... What if he just got fucking Yanmasked

These are all really fun theories! I love seeing other people take on these headcanons but I personally subscribe to the pocket monsters: the animation canon when it comes to Ash’s dad. Just a deadbeat who left his wife to go on a journey and failed. Just a dude we don’t care about hahaha

Thinking about a tma pokemon au.

Michael unknowingly bringing his stantler into the distortion with him. After he is consumed, you can occasionally see a twisted deer-like creature roaming the halls of the distortion.

Gertrude having an elderly absol named Adam that ends up outliving her. He sleeps in Jon's office and refuses to leave unless vanishing into the tunnels. Jon later becomes his legal trainer, but Adam doesn't obey him at all.

Jon got a pokemon way later than normal after collage. He now has an eevee named Commander. Jon isn't very good at being a trainer but Commander loves him anyway. Like most eevelutions, Commander evolves with a close bond with Jon. Unfortunately having a close bond with an eldritch creature can cause a new type of evolution...

Martin has a swablu named Dandy. She likes to chase Commander around for fun. In season 4 Martin rarely takes Dandy rarely comes out of her ball. He doesn't want to find out what happens to pokemon in the lonely.

Peter has a really messed up wingull. It is strangely still and its colors are faded.. He doesn't seem attached to it and it doesn't seem attached to him.

Sasha had a alola vulpix named Snowflake. Everyone finds it odd when suddenly Snowflake starts growling at her trainer. Tim adopts her in season 3

Tim has a pacharisu named Erin. Erin was banned from being out of pokeball on institute grounds after trying to attack Elias's Alakazam.

Admiral is a purugly. He was Georgie's first pokemon. She also has a punkaboo and duskull. Since she can't feel fear, she gets along really well with dark and ghost type pokemon.

Melanie wanted to be a trainer when she was young, so she does have a full team. However, since keeping a full team in London is expensive, most live at a boarding facility for trainers run by a professor. She keeps a psyduck named Binky as a pet. He's a little dummy and Melanie would die for him. The rest of Melanie's team are poison and steel types.

Bassira and Daisy, as cops, both have dog pokemon. Bassira has a growlithe named Amon. Daisy has a lycanroc named Marigold. Marigold is a pokemon avatar of the hunt. She has to be muzzled or she will bite you. Daisy has regrets.

Elias can afford to have a full pokemon team. He is good at battling but doesn't have a very strong connection with any of his pokemon. He has many, many, pokemon over the years and the magic has worn off. That being said, he does seem to favor his yanmask.

Hey, so here's Wizard Anon's team.

A Ogerpon, but with a skull and crossbones mask. It took up necromancy after its friend died to try and bring him back, but was too late, so now it does a sort of medicinal necromancy.

An Charizard named Charmie; Acquired before he even knew what a Pokemon was, and is his favorite.

A shiny Ursaluna, named Red Velvet.

His world's Koraidon, which in his universe resided in the desert so it has more of an ancient Egyptian look.

A Iron Valiant.

A Galarian Yamask named Stella, who he never uses for battling as it is a ghost of his family member, who he loves deeply and has created communication with Pokemon for the purpose of talking to her again.

Sorry this took a while to answer, I ended up getting really emotional about this ask and ended up having a crisis about life and stuff and how I'm lucky to be alive

Yamask!Hero: Oh really, ya think? You think you fucked up? You thought listening to the words of a Pokémon who has stated he intends to rule the world one day was a reliable source! It was fucking Gengar who was ready to force a young Caterpie to join his team and force his parent to reward him handsomely for saving a Metapod. For a Gold Rank team, that was a pretty poor investigation you conducted. Chasing us half way across the damn continent! I am—was a grass type, who had to go through a volcano and a freaking tundra.

Alakazam: In hindsight—

Hero, in an otherworldly voice: Ssssave it! You don’t get to go “oh we didn’t know any better”. I am dead, I died, I am fully a ghost.

Safe to say when the Hero finds out Gengar was the human from the myth—they are pretty pissed.

Ok that's odd, your like the 8th person I've seen that's been offered a mask..any idea why that's happening?

The allure of pretending to be the happy mask salesman in the hit Zelda title "Majora's Yanmask" is simply too strong to be ignored

But in all seriousness? I have no idea. I haven't had a chance to actually wear the mask yet, so I have no idea if I'll actually turn into a pokémon or not, lol (but presumably not, right? Masks can't ACTUALLY do that, right?)

I'll keep an ear out and see if I can find anything about the person who gave me it. Maybe other people've been affected too?

Waiting after some transfers at my job and I started developping Pokémon teams for Gabriel and Nathalie and I got very inspired with those two and I wanted to share my thoughts.

For Gabriel, as I was brainstorming what his theme would be and I started thinking how Gabriel has very humble origins before he had to literally upgrade his image to become part of the Elites. This lead me to imagine that ALL of his Pokémons would evolved via an item. I believe this would reflect how him was underdog who was contempt with his Pokémons not being fully evolved (and besides he didn't have any money then to buy the item to fully evolve them). That is until he had to evolve them to be part of the game. And his quest to pursue and buy the necessary evolution items would also reflect how his quest with the Miraculous.

Anyway, the 6 Pokemons that would be in his team, imo, would be :

Nidorino - Nidoking

Gligar - Gliscor

Roselia - Roserade

Feebas - Milotic

Staryu - Starmie

Mincinno - Cincinno

For Nathalie, I haven't settled on 6 yet, but due to her past as a treasure hunter, I would imagine most of her Pokémons would be related to ruins or help her with her explorations somehow. So far, the list of potential candidates for her team include :

Unown

Bronzong

Golurk

Glimmora

Arcanine

Relicanth

Steelix

Clefable

The Pokémons bolded are the ones I am definitively sure I would want in her team (yep, even Unown). That just leave the sixth spot open and I don't which one I want more in her team between Glimmora, Steelix or Clefable.

Of course, there are other Pokemons that could fit the gig. Like Stonjourner, Claydol, Sigilyph or a member of Yanmask-line but they feel repetitive with the ones I have highlighted.

Okay I see anon making the sick s/o worse. Can I raise you bittersweet? With s/o coming back as a ghost Pokemon and sort of just haunting Laventon, Ingo, and Cyllene (with the best intentions) but they're kinda freaked out about being haunted and consider it a bad omen, until like one day the ghost saves their life and they realize oh maybe this ghost isn't so bad, and idk become friends with said ghost which eases the burden on their hearts.

This is great!! I love this, and it gives me a chance to rant about how much I love Yanmask and how sad their story is and ughhh I love it thank you!!

Laventon:

He knows Yanmask from his home, but he also knows that there aren't any in Hisui. So when the Yanmask creeps out from under his bed, cooing sad tones up at him, he screams. He backs away from the Pokémon, until it registers in his brain that he recognizes the mask it carries

He calls your name, so soft it's barely audible, but the Yanmask twirls and gives a happy noise. Laventon is relieved, so heartbroken that you're gone, but thrilled the Yanmask is here. He peppers the little being in questions, cradles it in his hands, but the Pokémon just blinks.

And that's when Laventon realizes that this isn't you, not exactly. It's a Yanmask that used to be you, and your death led to its creation. He cradles the Pokémon still, but sudden all his relief has faded into hollowness.

He allows the Pokémon to stick around, but he has a noticeably hard time interacting with it. Everyone does, and the poor thing is so upset over it. It doesn't understand why everyone is afraid of it?? Maybe if it helps out more, things will get better!!

But sadly, this ends with Laventon yelling at the Yanmask for breaking something of yours on accident. The little Pokémon is heartbroken, for it wants to bond with Laventon the most out of any other. It becomes secluded and quiet, until the day an alpha Gengar bursts into the village, ready to start attacking. It aims for Laventon first, but the Yanmask throws itself forward, taking the Curse for itself. And with the little strength it pertains, casts Destiny Bond, causing the Gengar to faint with it

Laventon is distraught. He cradles the Yanmask, and suddenly feels like he's losing you all over again. He blubbers apologies to the fainted ghost, and after reviving, spoils the little creature rotten with berries and candy. Maybe it's not you, but it's a piece of you that still loves him and wants to protect him, so he can love it back in return

Ingo:

He can barely get out of bed the days and weeks following your death. So when a Yanmask suddenly appears at his side, cooing sadly over his state, he doesn't pay it much mind. It follows him and Lady Sneasler around, and the Lady is very affectionate and protective of it, so he doesn't shoo it off. He lets it nuzzle against his at night, singing ethereal melodies to help him sleep, or using Hypnosis if he can't

He doesn't acknowledge the Pokémon outside of feeding it occasionally. It's not on his team, and he's not sure why it's following him, but he has enough to worry about. He focuses on his duties, tries to ignore the pain of losing you, but he can't always do that. The Yanmask sings to him whenever he cries, and it's a small comfort, hearing familiar tunes. How does it know the songs you used to sing to him? How long has it been lurking in your home?

It's when one of the camps is attacked that he sees the Yanmask in action. It Curses the the Driftloon haunting the poor camp, scaring it off. Ingo praises the little creature, who sings with delight. Laventon, staying at the camp, hurries over, boggled to see the Yanmask. He explains to Ingo that they're not native to Hisui and. . . the mask the Pokémon holds looks like. . .

With all the information, Ingo's behavior turns around. He knows the Yanmask isn't you, but it's an echo of you, of your love for him, that's manifested into something that cares and protects him. He spoils the Yanmask rotten, and turns to it for a memory of the comfort you used to give him. It doesn't heal the wound losing you left on his soul, but it's a palm that helps him get back up a little easier

Cyllene:

She dismisses the Yanmask that appears at her desk side. She's too busy to bother with such headaches. Abra teleports it out, but the thing is stubborn. It teleports itself right back into the office, over and over, not even flinching when Cyllene shouts at it to go. It stays right where it is, staring at her with sad eyes. Until a bug comes in and it decimates it before Cyllene can even move. Then it returns to staring at her with sad eyes.

Laventon comes in to see what the commotion is, and his gasp draws Cyllene's attention. Tears are welling in his eyes as the Yanmask coos at him, and shakily he explains what Yanmask are and how they're created. Cyllene's hands shake, but she clenches them into fists, refusing to show emotion here. She lets the Yanmask hang around, but when she returns to her home with it. . .

Laventon explained to her that this isn't technically you, but she still talks to it as if it were. The Yanmask stares up at her in confusion when she starts to whistle a low tune, but soon joins in on the song, gently serenading Cyllene how you used to whenever she returned late

The Yanmask becomes a staple beside Cyllene, just like her Abra. The two get along swell, and Yanmask is happily playful with whoever approaches it. The sight makes Cyllene smile to her, her memory of you living on through the Pokémon you left behind for her. Yanmask is now the only one allowed to cuddle her, besides Abra. It's fun to see, walking in on her with the Pokémon attached to the side of her head

Poor babies. It would be a mix of emotions, seeing their previous S/O as a ghost Pokémon. They're not the same, but yet they are? It's hard to process

Figured out how Ingo gets from Hisui to Unova in my Yanmingo AU. Ingo pleads with the Alpha Dusknoir that comes to ferry his spirit into the afterlife to please, just let him wait a little while longer. He doesn't remember everything, but he knows he does not belong here, not in this time. And so the Dusknoir goes "okay I'll take you for a little journey n wait a couple hundred years n dump you in the desert outside your weird little human city. Best I can do" and Ingo has to go "great okay thanks" because he's really got no other choice but to either pass on or stay tethered in Hisui/Sinnoh forever. And then he wakes up in the Desert Resort Castle thing as a Yanmask and goes "oh great fuck me I guess" but hey at least he's close enough to Nimbasa it won't be too much of a trip on his own, avoiding trainers and wild Pokémon because he is underleveled and does not want to get captured or beaten up, except hey wait! He's not alone! Lord Volcarona thinks he's funny as shit! And would like to be friends with him! Wow! How exciting! And then Ingo panics and hides his mask somewhere because he's not ready to reveal his identity to the man who looks like him yet. At the very least he should get stronger first, maybe level up enough to evolve, right? So Ingo and Volcarona go and train in the dark grass of Lostlorn Forest together. And then Ingo gets sneak-attacked/ambushed somehow and beat the fuck up. And then Emmet finds them like that because of course he does. He's been spending time in Lostlorn Forest lately with the local Zoroark and Zorua as therapy dogs. So Emmet picks up this tiny little ghost Pokémon and books it to the Pokémon Center to get them checked out, not realising this Yanmask is his brother because again, Ingo hid his face. And the whole time this is happening Ingo is internally panicking "oh shit oh god oh fUCK" while Volcarona is laughing his head off. You know what fuck it I make Volcarona genderfluid. Anyway yeah that's my AU this is how it happens lol

About the lawyer thing : i actually very much wonder what they do about ghost pokemon. Especially ones like Yamask who ACTUALLY ARE DEAD PEOPLE WITH AT LEAST PARTIAL MEMORIES OF THEIR LIVES. Like. Are they legally dead? Are they bound to the law? Can you bring one to court after they tried to eat your soul?

RIGHT????? Where is the line drawn????? Cuz clearly there is some intelligence division between human and Pokemon, but not for all Pokemon? And, lbr, do humans count as Pokemon? I mean, we're just animals burdened with thumbs and too much brain thinky!

Like, if you murder someone and they come back as a Yanmask or w/e, can they testify against their murderer? How can you prove that a Yanmask is a certain person? Can Yanmasks claim their human life property? What about if a parent is killed and becomes a Yanmask, can they claim custody of their kids? What about Phantumps? Can they be narrowed down to certain lost kids?

CAN YOU SUE A DRIFLOON FOR STEALING YOUR KID?????

If a ghost Pokemon disappears alongside their trainer, can that be used as evidence that the trainer has died and their ghosty followed them to the afterlife??

I have so many questions
