Already commented on that post, but I'll reblog it anyway
I read this and I feel heard. Never thought of Hermes like that, it would makes sense for him to feel like this, but hey, he was BORN to be like that, but I'm human, I do feel lonely sometimes
But hey, home doesn't need to be one single place. It can be someone who's always with you. And even when you don't get fixated for too long, you get to learn so much with the people around you, you know?
I don't stay in one place for too long, and I don't mean it only in real life. I rarely stay in a fandom or such for too long, or in the same social circle for long. I don't like this. I like to meet new people, learn new things, to go around and try new things
I can see why people might hate getting out of their comfort zone, I used to do the same, but I noticed (in MY own way of seeing it) that I was neglecting myself the opportunity to actually learn more, to actually go out and see what the gods had been preparing for me and what I could understand from them
Sometimes, however, I found myself longing for a place. But, I never stayed for too long somewhere. It's weird to be homesick to a place that never existed in the first place. But I noticed I wasn't actually wishing for a material place to call home, but to have all the old connections I've lost, either for my own immaturity or lack of better communication.
But instead of wishing for them to come back, which it might not happen. I might not see them ever again (and some I do hope to never see again), but I'm glad to the moments we had and the knowledge they gave me, a lot of insights about myself and other people's perspective of the world
do you think hermes is ever lonely? he's always somewhere liminal, on the way, always the journey but never the destination.
he understands what it's like to simply let people flow in and out of your life. he knows that the relationship and intimacy will always hurt more than the goodbye, because you're already familiar with leaving; never having stayed in any place for too long.
he says goodbye and moves on. he's the god of travellers, right? he's safety and comfort, but to me he is homesickness, too. going and going and going, and suddenly turning back and realising that your home is gone, the people you knew are gone. you'll never get it back, and things won't ever be the same again.
does hermes yearn for home? does he ever dream of what was, but can't be again?

I'm supposed to be an Extrovert. Why is socializing so hard.
So like, I fucking love talking to people right?
Group activities, exchanging papers for review and complimenting strangers on their cute clothes. That's my shit. However small talk? Fuck my ass no lube style the way that shit kills me. What do you me i can yap with a stranger about why i hate a capitalist society.... but talking about my hobbies my mouth dries up?
no please make it make sense. Cause if two plus two is four and five plus five is ten.. wtf is this bafoonary. My creatures have seen me handle social situations as easy as washing my hands. Crack jokes, be unapologetically myself but keeping conversation is like sandpaper on my frontal lobe. I don't think i'm boring cause the bitches love me but i dunno man.
can a ho just make and keep mainting friendships?
Please????

hey could I ask where I could learn more about the arab spring? I can’t find many resources and most of them are very American. I’m asking partially because my parents mentioned a massacre that happened at a mosque around that time, but I can’t find much of that? They used to study in Egypt which is why they were horrified to hear about the brutality those years ago. Sorry if this sounds disrespectful you can ignore it if so. I just want to better understand the unrest in Egypt that I assume is still ongoing today with Sisi
hi sweetheart <3 this isn't disrespectful at all don't worry
unfortunately i don't really have any specific resources i can point you towards that aren't riddled with usamerican propaganda or leave out key details but i remember reading this article from a while back and it was pretty succinct. read it with a discerning eye and lmk if you have any further questions about the points they raised
the massacre your parents are referencing is probably the Rabaa massacre which happened in august of 2013, the biggest massacre in modern egyptian history. military and police forces killed an estimated 1000 protestors, most of whom were supporters of the muslim brotherhood, some others were simply opposed to the military regaining power.
the main key points you need to understand about egypt's modern history, contemporary history, and the arab spring as a whole, are the following:
egypt had been effectively ruled by a military ruling class since the 50's. nasser's presidency oversaw anti-imperialist policies and policies favoring the working class, but he basically laid out groundwork for 70+ years of military dictatorship
anwar al saddat's presidency involved lots of dramatic changes to our domestic and foreign policies, namely privatization of many sectors, introducing neoliberalism to the country, signing the camp david agreements with israel
mubarak's presidency was essentially a 30 years long continuation of sadat's neoliberalism and corruption, things got worse by the day for your average working class egyptian
the 2011 25th of january revolution in egypt was sparked due to worsening living conditions, and protests igniting many of the neighboring countries. namely tunisia, where street vendor mohammed bouazizi self immolated in protest of harassment he had been receiving from government officials.
it's important to note here that even before the protests in tunisia, there had been dissent from the egyptian working class, many factory workers went on strikes in protest such as in mahalla
the 2011 revolution was not ideologically coherent, in the sense that everyone, from all different political ideologies joined in, from the Muslim brotherhood to leftist coalitions. this will be important for understanding why it fell short of achieving long term goals. it managed to force hosni mubarak to step down
the MB's candidate, mohammed morsi won the 2012 elections, which sparked a lot of upheaval from leftists, liberals and religious minorities such as copts.
in june of 2013, mass protests broke out against his regime demanding that he step down from power, the us-backed military hijacked the protests and enacted a coup which reinstalled the military regime with sisi as president. protestors of the new regime, whether in support of morsi or not, were massacred in Rabaa and other locations leaving an estimated 1000 protestors dead
it's important to note here that it was later revealed that certain groups which were involved in the 2013 counter-revolution were funded and backed by gulf states (mainly the UAE iirc, i need to fact check that though). there was a marked increase in organized violence from these groups (tamarod was one of them) out of nowhere and it all played out in the military's favor in the end, which isn't a coincidence considering who are their biggest allies in the region. i don't think this was covered in the article above
there has been unprecedented efforts of censorship in the country since then, a complete crackdown on dissent. journalists get jailed for tweeting things opposed to the regime all the time. egyptian prisons (which aren't exactly known to be the most humane) are filled with political prisoners. this current regime is the one the US and their gulf allies backed and endorsed, we get billions of dollars in military aid from the US in exchange for carrying out their imperialist interests in the middle east. as for living conditions, it only gets worse by the day for your average egyptian. most major cities are riddled with slums, inflation is through the roof, unemployment is high, most people can barely afford basic necessities, our infrastructure is in desperate need of maintenance and renovations, our economy is almost entirely financed by the US (even putting military aid aside), the UAE, and saudi arabia. and we're drowning in debt. we take imf loans like, every other month lmfao it's bad
a lot happened within the span of 3 years, this is all not to say that the MB were good, not in the slightest. but the US once again interfering with a foreign country's domestic affairs to secure their interests has resulted in nothing but devastation for the overwhelming majority of the people living here.
as for the arab spring as a whole, i think it's disingenuous when people dismiss its entirety as western backed conflict. even though a lot of it is exactly that (see: libya), especially in countries where the revolutions kind of bled into them rather than already having brewing tensions from working class people suffering worsening conditions. in tunisia and egypt, there was already a lot unrest within their populations over material conditions, which is why i mentioned the mahalla strikes. it's a shame our revolution didn't have more coherent, stronger socialist organizers, it's a shame it was killed and hijacked before we ever got to reap its benefits

Alvin and Simon are fundamentally similar characters because they’re motivated by the same thing, their desire for validation. The difference lies in the validation they want, and from who.
Alvin wants validation from the world, the entire world to be exact. He’s showy in a way so reminiscent of a middle schooler trying to be cool (because that’s exactly what he is) because he’s desperate for the approval of his peers. Socially, he wants everyone to know how great he is because deep down, he’s not really sure if he likes him. If everyone loves him, the hidden insecurities drumming through his head will be proven wrong. All he wants is for people to like him, and he’s desperate to give them a reason to.
Simon wants validation from his family, first and foremost, and the communities he’s in. He couldn’t care less what the jocks at school think of him, the bullying he receives, but he wants Dave especially to acknowledge his academic achievements, and he craves validation from his teachers. With every successful invention, aced test, and scientific achievement he disproves his insecurity that he’s not worthy or capable, but it’s never enough, so he has to push harder. He just wants to show that he’s worthy of the prodigy child title—it’s not about who he is, but what he’s capable of, because what does he have to offer but his brain? (Because who would like him for his personality anyway?)
They’re both caught in a vicious cycle because external validation will never heal the wound of thinking you’re not good enough.

It’s like in movies and someone picks up random discarded glasses that work???? That’s not how prescriptions work??? Also there’s no way the lenses in those glasses weren’t plastic which is certainly not bending light for your eyeballs
most unrealistic part of alvin and the chipmunks is when dave realizes simon has vision problems and decides to give him a decorative pair of glasses from a santa doll and they WORK like my brother in christ. what are the odds of the glasses even being a prescription let alone being the prescription simon needs i, for one, am baffled

Feels ON Vandal Savage?
Ah. Vandar. Vandal Savage. He is a relic; a man of many eras, yet of little evolution. An artefact of a world that no longer remembers its own history. He calls himself eternal. Eternity without purpose is nothing but prolonged decay.
We have crossed paths more times than I care to count. We have found ourselves on opposite sides of history more often than not. At times, we have been adversaries, our visions irreconcilable. At others, circumstance has aligned us, if only for a time. I do not fool myself into believing that makes us comrades. Savage does not seek alliance—only advantage. He burns kingdoms to the ground only to rebuild them in his own image, never learning the lesson time has tried to teach him. Power without direction, ambition without refinement—wasteful. He would rule over stagnation, content to let the earth rot so long as he remains above it. As long as it serves him. I would see it reborn. His ambition is vast. It is directionless. He builds, he conquers, and when time erodes his empires, he begins anew, as if the cycle itself is his only aim. That is where we differ. His vision never extends beyond himself. He hoards power as a dragon hoards gold, clinging to it not for the good it might do, but simply because he can. He endures, and to him, that is victory enough. To merely persist is not to shape the world. It is to drift upon its tides, mistaking longevity for significance. For all his persistence, I wonder if he has ever truly lived—or if he has merely spent unending time grasping at more.
And yet, I cannot dismiss him. I have known him too long, seen too much of what he is capable of. Savage is not a fool—he is patient, methodical, and when he moves, history bends to meet him.
I will grant him this—he has made eternity seem almost tedious. A rare accomplishment.

[ OC ] — RAIHAN of the NCPA
genshin oc yap. will detail unfinished lore, relationships, personality, and much of the like.
this is part 1, maybe (?). regardless i’ll talk abt bro until i die (send help /nsrs).
now, who is Raihan ?
a Natlanese original character created by @prjcalico, aka yours truly !
member of the National Crime Prevention Association (fanon organization) of the same region.
a silly goober with loads of cool ideas backing him (trust the process bro) but unfortunately stuck with a lazy creator who halfasses his lore most of the time.
a genshin-au addition to the wonderful world phenomenon known as the axelverse. (iykyk 😎)
what is the NCPA w/ context ?
if anyone is interested, the fanon wiki page will be linked in the below. i know most don’t have time for that though so to hopefully keep you hooked here is a basic rundown.
a criminal investigations commission organization that essentially works like the adventurer’s guild, but centered around crime, and a lot more high-profile.
it typically works in collaboration with the ruling government authority of the nation it’s in.
like its source media, though, there is always room for corruption. its leaders are all AWOL.
https://genshin-impact-fanon.fandom.com/National-Crime-Prevention-Association
anyway so i think i should stop talking cuz man is typing on ipad hard. anyway, if you read it and maaaaybe think it’s maybe slightly cool, i will take a stab at future parts ! 🙏😎

we already had the evil eldritch horror manager that puts you in danger. it was fun. it was cool. but now i want something new and exciting. which is why i'm wishing lena ends up being something completely different. i hope she's not the big bad, i hope she's the weakest link. the type of character that's technically antagonistic, but not very good at it. easy enough to persuade, even easier to sympathize with.
and this might just be confirmation bias, but i feel like i'm not reaching all that much with that statement. if you look at the way she acts around the others, it almost kind of feels like she's trying to protect them all from something.
the footage gwen found actually makes me even more convinced of this; lena doesn't sound like she ever wanted to kill klaus at all. "you don't have to do this." "we both know i do." those aren't the words of someone completely emotionally ready to commit murder. and when he eventually escapes, there's something so specific in the way lena shouts "klaus!" after him. she sounds scared and desperate. she never wanted to do this at all, and now the option's been taken away from her entirely. she failed, and she knows what'll happen if they find out she did, but a part of her must be a little relieved. she was never ready to take someone's life. and even if i'm just hearing what i want to hear, a hunter never calls its prey by its first name.
but lena kelley is no hunter. she's the weakest link in a chain of command we have yet to explore.
