my favorite part about the end credits is they show the moment of Luka “””saving””” bayonetta in bayo 2, specifically the “”kiss”” part and they try to paint it as romantic. When that was literally Luka’s delusion. I think they even showed the one from bayo 1.
Also I need to ramble about how I'm finally getting to the breakdown of barriers and Izuku and Itsuka making googly eyes at each other while Momo’s sitting in the corner waiting for her turn. But then the fact I know about the upcoming agnst I'm giving them (that I actually wrote a chunk of already to make sure I don't forget) makes all of it even sweeter. And I'm just loving writing it so much
Every time someone calls Falin not a full-fledged character, or just a plot device, or whatever, I honestly get so annoyed. If you can make up a whole personality and backstory for some random man in any other story, let me be obsessed with a woman the the entire narrative is literally centered around!! She is so interesting and I love her shut up shut up shut up
Is it just me or does "ghost" L looks more soft and serene and pretty in this or it's just Light romanticizing the heck out of L in his imagination.
This scene happened 10 days after L's burial, meaning they stayed there for 10 days straight. What if the reason he asked the task force and Misa to live in an apartment because during those 10 days, he kept seeing L's "ghost" wandering in the headquarters.
Literally like this, he'd see L sitting in on his chair. He'd see L on the bedroom they shared with. He'd see sugar cubes stacked on each other and sees L putting another piece in it's tower.
Probably explains the dead eyes, those soulless, empty eyes. He is being haunted, not because of guilt, but because he actually misses L's presence (but he's too prideful to admit it) so this feeling of missing him reflects on his eyes. Light looked like a walking dead man in here.
What's even crazy is that Light blatantly mourns for L that even Ryuk notices.
Just look at his face. It was as if he's fed up at Light for just moping for days now. The way he asked, "Is your score finally settled with L?" appears he's hinting that "Are you done being depressed over your dead rival? Cause I'm starting to get bored af."
Which works in Light's favor because he now atleast a more concrete reason to dedicate himself to judging criminals because if he doesn't, Ryuk can just kill him. And he won't have his work thrown out the window just because he keeps on seeing L's ghost and feeling depressed at the sudden emptiness in his life.
personally i think katara is completely within in her right to be angry at and never forgive the man that killed her mother and in turn zuko is also within his right to be angry at and never forgive his abusers who gaslit manipulated scapegoated maimed banished and tried to kill him multiple times and neither of those things would make katara and/or zuko lesser than or bad people
Okay, my brain refuses to think about anything other than Murderbot, so I looked at every use of the word "friend[s]" in TMBD and... created some pie charts. Normal human activities.
Some Thoughts™ I had while putting this together (under the cut):
In All Systems Red, Murderbot notes that the PresAux crew are all close friends (twice! and goes on to explain their internal relationships which I think is very cute). This is pretty much the only use of 'friends' in ASR, except for when Murderbot says that SecUnits can't be friends with each other.
It seems that this may be one of the first times Murderbot has ever really been around a group of friends before? Murderbot notes that this is not the norm for its contracts and admits that the fact that they are all friends and the way they interact with each other make it actually enjoy that contract (before!!!! the hostile attack, so it already enjoys this contract before they start seeing it as a person etc ghghhhh). [Inference: Friendship seems enjoyable.]
The first character that calls Murderbot its friend is ART in Artificial Condition. Murderbot immediately refutes this (and then goes on to call ART its friend to its clients for the rest of the book). [Inference: Maybe ART is Murderbot's friend. And maybe that is... agreeable]
Rogue Protocol has more than twice as many instances of the word 'friend' as any of the other novellas. Why? Miki. Friendship and its implications for non-humans are a central theme because Miki is friends with everyone. Murderbot initially scoffs at the notion that Miki and Miki's humans are friends. At the end of the book, after witnessing how desperately Don Abene tried to stop Miki from trying to save them, and her grief after its death, Murderbot has to admit that she had in fact been Miki's friend. [Inference: Humans can be friends with bots and can sincerely care about them]
In Exit Strategy, Murderbot tentatively uses the word "friends" for its humans for the first time (several times actually). It questions whether it can actually call them its friends or not and later realizes that it had been afraid what admitting that the humans are its friends would do to it. At the end of the book, Mensah tells Murderbot the PresAux crew are its friends, which is the first time a human has directly said that to it (at least on-page). [Inference: Humans can and want to be Murderbot's friends]
In Network Effect, Murderbot seems to be more habituated to the word 'friend', confidently calling ART and Ratthi its friends, like it is no longer just trying the concept on unsure if it fits. There are many instances in which other characters refer to MB as ART's friend or the other way around and Murderbot's humans refer to Murderbot as their friend several times. Generally, there seems to be less hesitancy, because yes, all of them are Murderbot's friends, why wouldn't they be. [Inference: SecUnits can have friends. This SecUnit has friends. They care about it a lot.]
Conclusion: The Murderbot Diaries tell the story of a construct that does not seem to consider the possibility of friendship for itself and is fine with that - until it accidentally starts caring a little too much and suddenly more and more people annex it as a friend (ew) to the point where it can no longer deny that this is happening and has to begrudgingly admit that yes, it has friends now and maybe that is actually not a bad thing.
I still find it funny that people call eleven a "deadbeat husband" and their marriage "toxic" but twelve is the "perfect husband" and their marriage "wedded bliss" all because of the few moments we'd seen between 11 and River were them being "toxic". yes of course! let's ignore how the minisodes show how that description isn't true and even how little moments in the episodes themselves – "what? that's it?" (why haven't you kissed me goodbye? are you being sly on purpose so I'd kiss you first?) and "they wouldn't bury my wife out here" and the music room is the heart of the home and it's not a ghost story, it's a love story – show 11 cared and put in the work and yes, they're going to have disagreements like the ones in TATM because duh who doesn't but it does not mean it is the entirety of their relationship but people have taken it and made it the entirety of their relationship.
Thinking about fresh faced little 20 year old Neuvillette five hundred or something years ago. All the other dragons are missing or dead so the Hydro Archon (previous) sends him to Zhongli for summer camp on being a dragon. He drinks a lot of osmanthus wine and "summer" lasts for six years. Zhongli gives him one piece of actual advice on scale care then goes on a tirade about how the last Hydro serpent he knew (Osial) was a bitch who stabbed him in the back. Neuvillette gets a complex over it.
Nothing about geo dragons translates over to hydro ones. Zhongli won't let Neuvillette go swimming because "dragons sink in water". A complete lie.
Uh, gameplay-wise, I really love characters in shooters who rely on three-dimensional movement techs. Chaining together hover and jump to stay in the air for as long as possible and keep momentum is so satisfying, and picking enemies off from the sky made me feel like a bird of prey. I was a good Pharah main.
Story-wise, there unfortunately isn't much to canonically go off because Pharah is so underutilized and neglected. Her personality's pretty boilerplate "heroic hero" (she's literally inspired by Captain America).
But it's the crumbs/bits and pieces that I really latched onto. Pharah's a confirmed lesbian; her short story with Baptiste implies she harbors a crush on Mercy (fucking thank you.). She's biracial Egyptian/First Nations. She has major mommy issues, having grown up both admiring and resenting Ana. She's the bridge between Old Overwatch, inspired by the idealized heroes who surrounded her childhood, and New Overwatch. She's one of the only inter-generational characters in the cast; someone whose experiences span the gap, which is why I seriously believe Pharah would make a great main character.
There isn't much to go off of, though; she's a very uncomplicated character (she's a soldier for a private military corporation, lol.). But that just means she's a blank slate character, so I've seen fanfic writers run wild and create some really interesting takes on her. My favorite interpretation of her's a dense, herbo gym-bro type (a lot of her liens are about work outs, exercising, and playing sports) who's easily excitable under her seemingly self-serious, armored visage. We see how she tends to gloat and hype herself up when she's on a streak too, so Pharah definitely has a competitive and boastful side under her more professional and militant performance.
A neat little thing that I love from movie 4 (Captured in Her Eyes): in Tropical Land, Conan’s outfit echoing Shinichi’s iconic outfit.
This is The Outfit. Everyone who knows DetCo, Knows It, Remembers It.
And I love how Conan’s outfit has the same colours and casual, cozy feel of it. From the light blue of his shorts, through the yellow-green combo with the blue accent of his top (EVEN THE ORANGE APPEARS ON HIS SKATEBOARD!!!), to his iconic red sneakers!
The movie starts and ends in Tropical Land, and I absolutely adore how you can visually see the connection through his outfit.
