i was thinking about the sleep deprivation thing that cults do and something i completely forgot about with regards to that conversation is that the sleep needs of children/teens are different to adults. it's a range as most things are, but when it comes to sleep you HAVE to go based off the biggest number to ensure everyone gets proper sleep because you cannot function properly without proper sleep
so, if you were a teenager who went to church camps and they allowed for less than 10 hours of sleep, or if you were a kid (6-12) and they allowed for less than 12 hours of sleep, you very well may have been sleep deprived, either intentionally or unintentionally
and as a little bonus: adults tend to respond to sleep deprivation with tiredness, but kids tend to respond with hyperactivity, and even one night of sleep deprivation can affect someone

Hello! I have finally finished the first chapter of my first Jori fanfic. I’m still trying to get a feel for the character interactions but I think I’m starting to get the hang of it! I’m gonna start posting to ao3 once i get that account set up (and figure out a title lol) but I might as well post the first chapter here! Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy!
Jade knew her girlfriend was hiding something.
Tori was not a hard person to read. Hell, the girl practically wore her heart on her sleeve. It was so easy to guess what she was feeling at all times that Tori had all but given up trying to conceal her emotions.
So, when Jade noticed that Tori was a bit more high-strung and stressed than usual, it wasn’t hard for her to conclude that there was something on her mind.
It also helped that Tori was an awful liar.
“What’s up with you?” Jade asked casually during lunch one afternoon.
“Nothing!” the singer squeaked suspiciously. She cleared her throat and attempted to regain composure. “Nothing is up. Everything is great!”
Jade frowned slightly, not at all convinced, but decided just to drop it for the time being as the rest of their friend group arrived at the table.
The rest of the day was uneventful. Sikowitz made them all tapdance while performing a scene to “demonstrate how important it is to stay in character no matter what the character may be doing” or whatever and then spent the rest of the class monologuing about how a squirrel got trapped in his bathroom.
Jade sighed a breath of relief as the final bell rang and cut Sikowitz off just as he was about to go into detail about the standoff he had with the rodent. The only one seemingly more anxious to get out of the classroom than Jade was her girlfriend, who was out the door before the bell even finished ringing. Their friends glanced at each other in confusion.
“Maybe she really hates squirrels?” Robbie suggested. The others considered it for a moment before shrugging and forgetting about it a second later, exiting the classroom.
Jade strode over to Tori, who was frantically throwing books into her backpack from her locker. Jade leaned back against the locker next to Tori’s while folding her arms across her chest.
“You’re in a hurry,” the goth commented while watching the girl struggle to cram a science textbook into her bag.
“Jade!” Tori jumped slightly, seemingly startled by Jade’s presence.
“That’s me,” she responded dryly. “Did you forget about our date after school today?”
The singer’s eyes widened in realization and her hand flew to her forehead as she let out a groan
“Jade, oh my god, I am so sorry! I completely forgot!” she confessed, clearly feeling guilty she had forgotten they’d planned to have sushi after school ended.
“It’s alright,” Jade replied coolly, quirking the corner of her mouth up slightly to convey to Tori she wasn’t upset with her. “What’s got you in such a rush anyway?”
Tori paused for a moment, staring down at her converse.
“Oh, umm… I promised my mom I would help her with… something,” she mumbled.
“Something…?” Jade probed, hoping to get a little more context on what had her girlfriend so worked up. Tori, however, would not offer her any.
“It’s not important. I swear I’ll make it up to you,” Tori slung her bag over her shoulder before stepping towards Jade and planting a short but sweet kiss to her lips. She then turned and began walking towards the exit.
“You better! I can’t have people think I got stood up!” Jade called out after her, earning a hearty laugh from her girlfriend as she left the building.
The goth rolled her eyes, amused by Tori’s refusal to admit what it was she was helping her mother with. It must be super embarrassing or something.
Jade was halfway through entering her locker combination when she remembered something that gave her pause.
Tori’s parents were out of town for the week. Trina had a showcase and they needed an excuse not to show up. Why would she need to help her mom with something if-?
Jade’s phone lit up with a message from Tori directed towards the group chat, asking if anyone could lend her $100 bucks. The goth furrowed her brows. Tori rarely asked for money, and never more than $10 dollars at a time.
Tori Vega, what the hell are you up to?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All Jade could think about for the rest of the day was how strange her girlfriend was acting. She wasn’t responding to her text messages and apparently none of their friends had heard from her either. It wasn’t like Tori at all, and Jade’s curiosity was slowly turning into concern.
She knew it was silly to be worried. Tori was a big girl, after all. Still, why would she need $100 bucks on such short notice? And what was with her skittish and secretive attitude?
Maybe she was in trouble with someone. Maybe she needed to pay them money in order to keep them at bay.
The thought was so absurd that Jade almost burst out laughing as soon as it entered her mind. This is Tori she was talking about. Miss “I have never stayed out past curfew” Vega. Not exactly the type to get tangled up in criminal activity.
Still, Jade couldn’t help but feel uneasy about Tori’s radio silence. It wouldn’t hurt to pay her a visit, right?
15 minutes later she was climbing through her girlfriend’s bedroom window, which Tori for some reason always kept unlocked. Tori wasn’t there, but her backpack was on her bed and her phone was on her desk. Jade let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding as she sank down onto the bed. Not 10 seconds later she heard the sound of footsteps and the bedroom door creaked open. In walked Tori who jumped five feet in the air and shrieked upon seeing someone in her room.
“Jade?” Tori yelped. “What are you doing here?”
“You weren’t answering my texts,” the goth deadpanned.
“So you broke into my house?”
“I didn’t break in. Your window was unlocked,”
“That’s still breaking in!”
“Is it really, though?”
“Yes!”
Jade was about to argue further when she noticed Tori was holding a grocery bag, and its contents looked quite heavy based on how far the bottom was sagging.
“Whatcha got there?” She asked, gesturing towards the bag. Tori glanced at it quickly before fixing her gaze back on Jade.
“Just some stuff for a science project,” she stated, trying to sound nonchalant.
“Tori,” Jade huffed. “We are in the same science class. We’re lab partners. We don’t have a science project.”
Tori stammered helplessly, trying and failing to come up with some explanation for what was in the bag. Jade groaned in annoyance, fed up with whatever game her girlfriend was playing.
“I don’t understand why you won’t just tell me what’s going on! You know it doesn’t matter what it is since my opinion of you can’t get any low-” Jade was interrupted by a strange noise coming from somewhere in the room. She immediately turned to locate the source of the sound.
Tori could only watch helplessly as the goth scoured every inch of her room before finally tearing open the doors to her closet. A tiny fuzzy creature emerged from the darkness. And then another. And then another. They kept emerging from the closet until there were seven tiny kittens of various colors and patterns wandering around the room.
Jade slowly looked back up at her girlfriend, confusion written all over her face.
“How-how did those get in there?” Tori stammered, trying her very best to feign ignorance as all the kittens ran towards her meowing hungrily.
Unfortunately her “very best” still wasn’t very good.
“Tori, why were there cats in your closet?” Jade asked, still absolutely bewildered by the scene that was unfolding.
The singer realized there was no way she could talk her way out of this one, and just gave her girlfriend a guilty look before opening her mouth.
“Remember last week when there was that sudden downpour in downtown Los Angeles?” Jade nodded. “Well, I was walking home from Nozu’s when I heard strange noises coming from an alleyway. I went to check to see what it was and-”
“Wait, you heard strange noises coming from an alleyway in downtown Los Angeles at night and you went to go check it out?” Jade asked incredulously. Jesus, Jade doesn’t know how her girlfriend has managed to survive for this long considering her self-preservation instincts were non-existent. Tori just rolled her eyes in response.”
“As I was saying, I went to go check out what the strange noises were and… well,” she turned to look at the kittens scampering around her bedroom.
Jade brought her hand up to her face to pinch the bridge of her nose.
“So let me get this straight, you wandered into a back alley while it was raining and found kittens and decided the best thing to do would be to take them home?” Jade was still bewildered by her girlfriend.
“Well when you put it that way it sounds like a stupid idea,” Tori blushed while avoiding eye contact. Jade sighed but took a step closer to her.
“I mean, I always assumed you would be one of those lesbians who would have like ten cats but I thought that would start after you moved out of your parents’ house,” she smirked.
“Hey!” Tori let out a mock-offended gasp while swatting Jade’s arm playfully. “I mean, I probably will have to move out once they come home and discover I’ve been hiding kittens in my room despite my father being deathly allergic to them.”
Why was Jade attracted to such a moron?
“Can’t you just give them to a shelter or something?” she asked gently. Tori shook her head softly.
“I thought about it but the pounds are apparently really full this time of year so there’s a significant possibility that they'll get…” Tori paused, unable to even finish the thought. “It’s just… they’ve been through so much in the short few weeks they’ve been alive and I can’t just abandon them now!”
Stupid Tori and her stupid heart of gold. The goth groaned and tilted her head back.
“Ugh, fine. I’ll help you with you’re dumb kitten problem,” Jade’s heart fluttered a little as she watched Tori’s face lit up like a christmas tree.
“Really?” She gleamed. “How?”
“Well, I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who would be interested in adopting tiny kittens. Especially if you go into detail about their tragic backstory and stuff. People are suckers for that kind of stuff,” Jade stated. “You could like, advertise them on The Slap and try to get them adopted before your parents come back.”
Tori chewed at her bottom lip, contemplating Jade’s suggestion.
“That’s… not a bad idea. People advertise things on The Slap all the time,” she hesitated for a moment and her face fell. “Ugh, wait. Trina follows me. If she finds out I’m hiding kittens in my closet she’ll rat me out for sure.”
Jade closed her eyes and sighed deeply. God, she can’t believe she was about to say this.
“I guess… I could… post about the kittens on my page, or whatever,” she grimaced. Tori’s grin got so wide Jade was concerned her face was about to split in half.
“You would do that for me?” she exclaimed. “But, your reputatio-”
“My reputation died as soon as I changed my status to ‘in a relationship with Tori Vega’,” Jade snorted. “Kittens would be nowhere near as embarrassing as you.”
Tori was beaming at her girlfriend despite the insult, chuckling lightly as she wrapped her arms around Jade’s neck and peppering her face with soft kisses before finally connecting their lips. The goth let out a content sigh in the back of her throat and attempted to deepen the kiss while pushing Tori backwards to the bed. However, Tori hummed and broke the kiss leaving Jade more than a little confused.
“Sorry, I-” the singer stammered. “I would feel weird making out in front of…”
Jade quirked her eyebrows up in amusement.
“In front of… the cats?” she asked, barely suppressing a laugh. Tori nodded, cheeks red with embarrassment. Jade just chuckled and rested her forehead against her girlfriend’s.
“Jesus Christ, Tori.”

Chapter 3 : Restless
Following Shouta’s departure and my calling out the eavesdropping children that were my family and friends, I set about making the rest of this day as normal as possible. Turning away from the people slowly trickling out of the surrounding forests, I took a deep breath.
“Mongrels, really Izuku?” a familiar voice washed over me. The words were issued from directly behind my left shoulder. Vaguely my brain thought how creepy it is that most of the time everyone around me was relatively silent when they crept close by or lingered around. There were times they were so stealthy that I had no idea they were around. Frustratingly stealthy. Mysteriously so.
I whirled around to face the one boy who I had known since day one of being adopted. He was my first friend when Aizawa brought me home. Shoto Todoroki. “Yes, you all scatter when the going gets tough, like puppies. Besides it was the first word that came to mind.” I said sheepishly as I scratch the back of my neck.
“You realize, you called us dogs.”
“You realize, you and everyone else ran with your tails between your legs when Aizawa ran upon us.” I whined. As my best friend, Shoto was morally obligated to listen to me whine. His laughter rang out and I couldn’t help but crack a smile.
“I guess we are dogs, we did come back though.” He chuckled as he gestured to the others that had wandered out of the woods. I rolled my eyes and began to leave our current spot. “Come on Izu, let’s head back to the house.”
Back to the house, he says.
Pouting, I stopped in my tracks, letting my toes scrunch into the grass. “Is this the curfew thing?” My eyes slid toward my best friend. I wanted time to be outside, I wanted to run and be free. The urge so strong it made my skin itch. It was something I had wondered about since becoming a part of this family. It was one of the many things that remained a mystery to me though, due to Shouta Aizawa never answering my questions.
“I want to stay outside. I don’t care when curfew is…” I was taking full advantage of the best friend obligation and whining till my heart was content.
Shoto didn’t bother to expend the energy by disputing my words or acknowledging my whine in any way. He just shouldered up to me with a small smile and steered me toward the direction of the many houses on our land, silently waiting for my ranting to subside.
“You do realize if Aizawa is serious about having someone on Izuku duty, it will be most likely be me and my family.” He stated softly, ending my rant of having a curfew and a ‘babysitter’. My eyes locked onto him, wide with shock.
“You…” my mouth gaped like a fish struggling for air. “No way…” Shoto had already begun our journey back, the others have long gone to escape my verbal rampage. Shaking my head, I groaned out of frustration.
Shoto sighed. “When Aizawa tells you to do something, you kinda obey.” His hand on my shoulder was comforting, but it did nothing to quell my frustrations. “You know it helps that the babysitter is me. Best friend and all. Anyone else and it would have been more difficult.”
At that moment I reached over and smacked him.
Shoto just smiled at me. He was my best friend, my partner in crime. He was absolutely not my keeper. I was not going to put up with this from Aizawa. The man was playing games, games that if I tried hard enough, I could win. Ok probably not but who am I kidding, I wanted to be strong and that meant not taking this crap for starters. For crying out loud the man was using my best friend to keep me in line.
Insert four-letter word here.
“Have I mentioned, I hate you today?”
“Not today, but you’ll get over it, princess.” Shoto said as he steered me closer toward the house. Familiar laughter echoed around the yard and my eyes caught the figures of long-time friends of this family, of those that were of this family, all blending in the yards. Playing and laughing and just having a good time.
“Fine, if this has to happen at least it’s you.” I said. Shoto was just looking out for me, he did not entirely deserve my frustration.
A moment ticked by, and Shoto managed to maintain his serious expression. “Indeed.”
Before we neared the front porch of Yua’s house, Shoto stopped his arm around my shoulders. “Any idea why Aizawa is being so….extra?” My voice was soft as I spoke.
Shoto lifted an eyebrow and smirked, on the verge of laughter. “You’re lucky he’s let you live past childhood.” He let a chuckle slip past his lips as we moved toward the porch. “I can’t imagine anyone else talking about Aizawa like that.”
There was a pause where for a moment the crunch of grass just beyond us could be heard, and the birds' midday songs were dimming down.
“Nevermind, you’d be the only one to talk like that about anyone…”
“Todoroki!” I growled and rolled my eyes, pulling away from his hold to stomp my way to the porch and climb into my favorite egg chair.
Feigning hurt, with a hand delicately and dramatically placed against his chest, Shoto spoke. “And we resort to last names. I’m crushed Midoriya.”
“Knock it off, drama queen.” I mumbled as I draped myself with the gray throw blanket that was on the chair. This blanket had been through many nights of laughter and sadness and right now it was helping me through frustrations of feeling trapped.
Out of all of my friends and family that were in the same age group as myself, Shoto was the tallest, the strongest, and most likely the next person to become a leader of sorts when it comes to this family. God, it sounds like the mafia. Are we the mafia? Nah…
Rolling my eyes as Shoto sauntered over to my spot and planted himself just in front of my chair, I was brought back to when he and I first met. Almost everyone overlooked me, the tiny shell-shocked boy with dark hair, but Shoto declared he adored me from the moment he’d set his heterochromatic eyes on me, shivering in Aizawa’s arms, blood-splattered and wild-eyed. I can remember that day clearly but everything else before that seems fuzzy. Shoto and I, we became inseparable, it was to Shoto that I finally opened up and spoke to for the first time. It was with Shoto that I became sassy and mischievous. It was always Shoto.
Now Aizawa has given me to him as a charge. A burden to keep an eye on.
“I hate this.” I blurted out as I shuffled into my blanket a little deeper, leaving my hand out to lightly touch the dual hair adorning my best friend’s head.
“I know you do. You’re a free spirit, but I can’t have you being in any danger or getting into too much trouble.” It took me a moment to notice that Shoto had changed his voice and was trying to impersonate my adoptive father. The impression was downright hilarious.
“You’re as stubborn as a mule, you know that Izuku.” He continued as I let my finger lightly brush his dual-colored hair, the colors constantly reminding me of a candy cane.
I let the laughter bubble up and spill over finally. “Fine, fine. You win. Happy now?”
“Ecstatic.”
I bite back my giggles and continued to brush through his hair. “My point…” he shuddered and held back laughter making me pause. “My point, Shoto – I wish-you-had-a-middle-name Todoroki, is that if Aizawa has you and your family on Izuku duty – then there is something going on.”
A pause in breathing was my response.
“Just leave it alone, Izuku.” Shoto’s voice was soft but that underlying serious tone was not missed and it made me even more curious as to what exactly my family was. The whole response itself made me realize that Shoto knew something I didn’t. And Aizawa was making sure, somehow, that he would not tell me.
“Todoroki!”
“Midoriya.”
I was running low on the comebacks. I needed new material to work with. “You suck.”

How About A Dare
Tumblr media
not my gif! all credits to owner
summary: A late night game of “Truth or Dare” leads the group to the Cameron’s house.
a/n: the bulk of the inspiration for this came from @jjmaybanx Watch Me (which y’all need to go read asap bc her writing is incredible) plus me playing around with how far i think Kie would go to “prove herself” to the pogues. feedback’s always appreciated and request are open too!
tw: mentions of underage drinking and drug use, some violence and swearing
word count: 1,530 words
**flashbacks in italics**
——————————————————————————
It was nearing midnight and the only light filling the room came from the lantern that sat on the floor in the middle of the room.
“Okayyyy,” John B said obnoxiously dragging out the y. He turned to face Pope. “Truth or Dare, dude?”
They’d been playing for the better part of the afternoon but nothing really exciting had happened yet.
“He’s so gonna go with truth.” JJ said from the other side of the room, raising his bottle of beer to take a sip.
“Whatever, JJ.” He turned to John B. “Dare.”
John B’s eyes got big for a second and then declared, “Kiss Kie.”
Kie rolled her eyes, “Wow John B! How creative.”
It seemed like at least once in a game of Truth or Dare, the boys dared each other to kiss her. It was so true they all had a little thing for her.
Kie pointed to her cheek, “Okay, Pope. Put it here.”
Pope crossed the room quickly, left a peak on Kie’s cheek and then tried to hide the pink that was quickly spreading across from the rest of the group.
JJ gave him a slow clap. “Outstanding work, Pope.”
“Kie,” Sarah said from her spot perched on John B’s lap. “You next. Truth or Dare.”
Kie pressed her lips together and thought for a second.
“How about a dare?” she finally answered.
Sarah whispered something in John B’s ear and he shook his head and grinned.
“I dare you to steal Rafe’s stash of weed.”
JJ spit out his beer and erupted in a coughing fit.
“Jeez, calm down JJ. It’s in a little jar on the shelf of his closet. It’s not that hard.”
“You’re not actually gonna do that Kie?” Pope asked.
Kie shrugged her shoulders. “I’ll just go in and grab. It’ll be fine.”
JJ raised his beer in the air, “Fuck it.”
…..
John B pulled the van off to the side of the road in front of the Cameron’s estate.
Kie gave the group a salute then slide open the van door and jumped out.
“Jesus,” JJ muttered before hopping out after here.
“Oh, come on.” Pope moaned.
Kie turned around and lifted her eyebrows, daring Pope to come too. He shook his head ‘no’ but climbed out after them anyway.
“Obviously, it makes sense for only me to go in. If one of the Cameron’s find me, it won’t be too suspicious.”
“What is Rafe’s in there?” Pope asked, his voice laced with blatant worry.
JJ punched him lightly, “Chill, bro. Kie’ll be fine.”
The motion sensor light on the house flicked on.
“Shit,” JJ yelled.
“Stay here,” Kie said. “I’ll be back in like 10 minutes tops.” Then she opened the Cameron’s back door and disappeared inside.
Pope looked over at JJ. “Do we just let her go?” he asked.
“Eh, she’ll be fine.”
It was pitch black inside the house but Kie knew her way around from the time she spent here before Sarah had exiled her from the friend group.
Kie gripped the bottom of the handrail and placed her foot on the first stair.
A memory of a fun night with Sarah flashed through her mind.
The two of them were coming back from a party at Topper’s pad and were way past Wade’s prescribed curfew. They’d both had their fair share of drinks at the party and couldn’t stop giggling.
“Oh, Sarah,” Kie said, dropping her voice to mimics Topper’s. “Just put me out of my misery already and go out with me.”
“Shhhhh,” Sarah hushed Kie. “Besides that’s not even what he said…” her voice trailed off.
“Pretty sure that’s what he meant,” Kie giggled.
“If you wake up Wade, you’re explain what’s happening here to him.”
Sarah stopped half way up the staircase.
“These two stairs creek so you gotta jump over them.”
Sarah stepped her leg out and then pushed herself up, skipping the creaking stairs. She turned around and offered her hand to Kie to pull her up too.
“Come on.”
Kie shook her head as to force the memory from her mind. Things with Sarah were better now but the pain of the whole situation still lingered.
She made her way up the stairs, skipping the creaking ones in the middle and now found herself trying to remember what door lead to Rafe’s room.
She walked slowly to the end of the hall, making as little noise as possible until she arrived at the door that sat across from the one that she knew was Sarah’s.
Kie pushed it open and Rafe’s empty room stood before her.
Yes! she thought.
Kie lightly closed the door behind her and felt her way around the room to the closet. She flicked on the light outside the closet door and then opened the closet door just wide enough for her to slip inside.
A shelf ran around the top of the closet and Kie reached her hand up feeling for the jar that Sarah had described. Her fingers tips made contact but when she tried to grab it, it slide to the back of the shelve.
Shit, Kie thought.
She balanced on her tip toes and stretched her arm to the back until finally her fingers wrapped around the jar.
Let’s go, she thought as she screwed open the jar and removed the ziplock bag inside. She quickly recapped the jar, placed it back on the shelve and left the closet.
She was back down the stairs and half way across the kitchen when suddenly a light flickered on. There in the entry way to the kitchen stood the nightmare himself: Rafe Cameron.
Without thought, Kie shoved the bag into the back pocket of her shorts, praying he didn’t notice.
“Rafe-,” she started.
“What the fuck are you doing in my house?” he interrupted.
“I was looking for Sarah,” Kie lied.
“She’s probably with that fucking pogue,” Rafe spit back.
Kie nodded her head, thinking she couldn’t get out of here fast enough.
Kie walked past Rafe in attempt to leave but just as she had passed him, he grabbed her wrist.
“Well, you don’t have to go just yet. You’ve been slumming it with all those pogues for a while, aren’t you ready for some kook?”
Kie could smell the stench of alcohol on his breath and from the way he slurred those last words, it was obvious how far gone Rafe was.
Kie jerked her wrist out of his grasp, “No, thanks. I’m good.”
Rafe’s face flashed with anger. Then he started to laugh. Before she knew it, he had his arm snaked around her waist.
“Kiara, come on. Let’s have a little fun. I’ll be super gentle.”
He leaned his head down and pressed a kiss onto her neck. Kie squirmed away, trying to get out his grasp.
“Rafe, let go. Leave me the fuck alone.” She jabbed an elbow into his side which caused him to release her.
“Fuck you, Kiara. Just run back to your fucking-“
JJ throwing opening the back door interrupted Rafe.
“Kie, what’s going on in here?” he asked with urgency before spotting Rafe. “Oh ,you have got to be kidding me.”
Kie ran over to JJ and grab his arm, trying to drag him out of the house but JJ just shook her off.
“Was he hurting you?” he asked Kie.
“No, JJ. It’s fine. Let’s go.”
“Come to save your little pogue princess?” Rafe spit at JJ. “You know, one day Kie, they’re all gonna realize how fucking full of shit you are and drop you just like my sister did.
At this JJ ran over to where Rafe was standing. He cocked his arm back and punched Rafe straight in the nose.
“Don’t every talk about Kie like that again.”
“JJ,” Kie screamed. “We have to go.”
JJ and Kie booked it out of the Cameron’s house.
“Come on, Pope!” Kie called as she and JJ ran down the Cameron’s drive.
“Start the van,” JJ shouted to John B once they were in earshot.
JJ, Kie and Pope jumped into the back of the van screaming at John B to get out of there. As they took off, JJ saw Rafe stagger out of the house with steam practically coming out his ears.
JJ examined his hand for a moment and then wiped the blood off on the inside of his shirt.
“Jesus, JJ,” Kie finally said. “It was fine. You didn’t have to go punching Rafe.”
At this Sarah turned around from the front seat, “You punched my brother?”
JJ glanced at Kie and Pope not sure how to answer that.
“…Yes?” he answered.
She shrugged. “He probably deserved it.”
Kie sighed then remembering she still had the bag in her pocket, took it out and threw it at JJ.
JJ caught the bag midair. “What is...” he began, then registering the contents of the bag yelled, “No way Kie! You fucking did it! I’m so proud.”
John B looked back at the commotion, causing the van to swerve just a little.
“Oh my god. You actually got it?” Sarah asked.
“Damn right I did. Told y’all I could.”
JJ made small bowing motions, “All hail our pogue princess.”
“Eat shit JJ.” Kie responded, but a smile was plastered across her face, still riding the adrenaline high from completing the dare.

~
March 21st, 1987
It was Thursday night, and both the Byers and Hopper side came together for the first time for dinner. Jim and Joyce were now serious, and they figured now was a good time for both families to interact.
Both Will and El hadn’t interacted a whole lot, but tonight would be an opportunity for them to get to know each other a bit better.
Johnathan and Emma on the other hand, knew each other more, but were not 100% close either.
Jim and Joyce had decided to go to a local Italian restaurant, a place where everyone will like what is served. Compromise.
Hopper, Eleven, and Emma were the first ones to arrive, and about two minutes later, the Byers had entered.
After being seated, there was a few moments of silence while everyone looked at their menus, while at the same time figuring out what to say to each other.
“So,” Hopper began, “How’s everyone’s life going?”
“Good.” Johnathan and Emma responded
Hopper and Joyce looked over at Eleven and Will, while Johnathan and Emma turned around to look after they didn’t respond
Will and Eleven were sitting across from each other, staring into each other’s eyes intensely, almost as if they were communicating through telepathy.
“Will? Jane?” said Joyce
They had the same response as Johnathan and Emma, but almost immediately went back to staring at each other.
“So Johnathan, how is university coming along?” Jim asked, “And how’s Nancy?”
“It’s going good, I have a few exams coming up in a couple of weeks.” Johnathan responded, “And me and Nancy are doing well, thanks for asking.”
“Very good.” Hopper smiled
“And what about you, Emma?” said Joyce
“It’s good. Zoology is interesting.” Em replied
“I bet it is!” said Joyce, “Oh, how’s your mother and stepsister doing?”
“They’re good, me and my sister Lucy’s relationship is better than it was two years ago of course.” Emma laughed
As Joyce, Johnathan, and Emma were in their own conversations, Jim had zoned out and looked over at Eleven and Will.
They were still staring into each other’s eyes intensely, not looking away nor blinking. Almost as if they were having an internal conversation with each other; another language nobody else could understand.
“Jane. Will.” said Jim, “Join in on the conversation.”
The two of them had broken eye contact, and joined in with the rest of them.
“Do you guys stare at each other like that when you hang out?” Johnathan chuckled
“We’re only now getting to know each other.” said Will
Emma gave her younger sister a look, in which Eleven responded with an annoyed expression.
As far as the night was going, all of them felt some sort of connection with each other, aside from Joyce and Hopper, who had already felt a connection between each other a long while.
Johnathan and Emma knew each other since it was only four of them including Nancy and Steve in their group, but Johnathan and Emma were getting to know each other a bit better.
As for Eleven and Will, it was almost as if they felt an immediate connection right away.
Because who knows, they could be possible step siblings very soon.

April 3rd, 1987
It is just after 5:30, and Ella was going to head to Beverly’s house for the night. After she finished her mother’s chicken noodle soup. But she knew her and Beverly would be having takeout later on, but she’d never tell her mother of course.
“Okay Ellie bear,” said Sonia, “Make sure you take your vitamins with you, or you will get sick.”
She didn’t like being called Ellie, and her mom was the worst for saying it. But as normal, gave her a fake smile and replied with “Yes, mommy.”
“Good girl, and make sure it’s just you and Marsh tonight, aside from her guardian.” Sonia continued, “If you shower, make sure you use towels Beverly hasn’t used; I wouldn’t want her to give you any STDs or AIDs.”
At this point Ella wasn’t listening, and made her way to the porch to get ready to leave.
“And where do you think you’re off to?” Eddie came in, sounding just like their mom
“I told you earlier, Bev’s.” Ella responded, “And by the way, you’re my twin brother, not mom.”
“I’m older than you, I know what’s best.”
There hasn’t been a week where Eddie hasn’t said that to her.
“Yeah, right.” El responded, and shut the door behind her
She made her way down the path which lead to the end of their driveway, and Richie was just lurking around the corner, headed up the path.
“Hi Ella.” Richie said smugly
“Don’t talk to me, trashmouth.” El mumbled, still pissed about the ridiculous April Fool’s jokes he pulled the other day
“What did I do?” said Richie, “All I did was pour water in your backpack on Wednesday!”
“You also trashed my room and went through my stuff when you were up on Wednesday you sicko!” Ella said annoyed
“You like it.”
She gave him the bird in response, not wanting to be bothered with Richie
“Rude!” said Richie, “I’m going to tell Mrs. K you were not being nice!”
“Perv!” she said while punching in the arm, then ran off
As soon as Ella hit the next block, she caught her breath and chuckled at what she did, not wanting to show any sort of emotion around Tozier
Later on that night, Beverly and Ella walked the streets that evening after dinner, getting up to shit neither Bev’s aunt or Ella’s mom would not approve of.
That stuff being two sixteen/fifteen year old girls walking around at night.
But as long as they didn’t find out.
Eventually, the two of them made their way back to Bev’s apartment, as they were both getting exhausted
It was 11 o’clock when they got back, but they decided to go to bed earlier than they normally would. But would stay up chatting for a while, of course.
This time Ella slept on the floor. Tonight Beverly was feeling okay, and wasn’t getting any sinister flashbacks about her now deceased father.
“Did you get up to much after school today?” Bev asked
“Not really,” El responded, “Eddie has turned into our mom, and Richard is a douche.”
“Oh dear, what did those boys do this time?” Beverly chuckled
Though it was all minor, she still gave a short rant about the two.
“But why did Richie go through your stuff?” Bev questioned, “Based on what you told me and what trashmouth has done to you in the past, it does sound to me that he likes -”
“No Bev,” El rolled her eyes, “Not gonna happen. I can’t see myself going after my brother’s friend.”
“You suuure?” Beverly smirked
“Yes, please stop.” El chuckled, “How’s you and Ben doing anyway?”
“We’re good”
Ella just then remembered of what happened a month ago the night she looked after Georgie. Bill had originally asked Bev to do it, but Beverly had to cancel last minute.
El vaguely remembers Bill giving her the key, and played a game or two with Georgie before he did his own thing and she sat in the living room.
Nothing seemed too out of place until Georgie stared at her with a creepy grin from across the room before muttering “Come join the clown, Eds.”
“Uh, what?” El asked, confused
“I saw a clown before.” Georgie giggled, “He was so funny!”
Then, would go back to himself. No more creepy grin, and Georgie continued as if that episode never even happened.
She had mentioned it to Bill when he got home later that evening, and Bill was slightly suspicious himself. Though he had said this rarely happened, and brushed it off as Georgie’s imagination going wild. Besides, Georgie hadn’t done anything else that entire night.
Eddie had told her about a particular clown the other losers faced months before El had joined them. Could it have been the same one?
Ella had mentioned that to Beverly on the spot, and Bev’s expression changed as she stared up to the ceiling, heart thumping
“Something wrong?” El asked
“Did you see anything?” Bev questioned
“No, why?”
“Okay. I just hope It’s not back.” said Beverly, “I could have sworn we killed that clown two years ago. Did you feel like you were being watched after Georgie said that?”
“Kind of, but I guess that’s just because it freaked me out.” Ella brushed it off
Beverly sat up in bed, wondering why this happened. Though Ella’s weird encounter with Georgie happened a month ago, no one has gone missing in Derry-Hawkins.
El mentioned that she forgot about it as soon as she left, and as did Bill, as he did not mention it to the group.
“You know, I see why Eddie is overprotective of you.”
“Nah, he’s just being his bossy self, Eddie might as well be my second mom.” Ella shrugged
“No El, you don’t understand!” Beverly insisted, “He doesn’t want you to be in any form of danger, or fall into It or whatever is out there’s clutches.”
“But what else could be out there? I thought you guys said It was gone?”
Both the losers and the party have encountered seeing something weird one by one, but no one could lay a finger on it. No one has gone missing since two years ago, and Derry-Hawkins was considered safe again, even though the 7 pm curfew sign was still up in front of Derry High, two years later.
The Derry police never did take it down.
Beverly sighed, not knowing how she was feeling at this point, but mostly fearful
She felt this chill go up her spine, and realized El was the newest member of the losers club, and hoping It wouldn’t come back for El, since she too was a girl.
But It can’t come for her though, Beverly thought, It only comes out every 27 years, right?

APPREHENSIVE {part 2 of UNBELIEVABLE}
Since the day at the coffee shop, you and Jimin had become practically inseparable. If you weren’t together, talking about everything under the sun, you were texting each other. BTS seemed to stare at the cheery dancer in awe and confusion.
Who is this girl? Jin asked as he watched Jimin text at the table. Jimin seemed to be so engrossed in his phone, he didn’t realize that Tae was slowly stealing all of his food right off his plate. Because she must clearly be amazing or the Queen of fucking England if she’s distracting Jimin that much. Jin mumbled to Yoongi and Namjoon, who chuckled and shrugged almost simultaneously.
Jimin said he met her when he was getting coffee that one day. Jungkook replied to his elder as he continued to shovel food into his mouth. Jin quickly looked over at the maknae and narrowed his eyes.
Who is she? He asked, Jin was always incredibly protective of all of the guys. He felt that since he was the oldest, he had to be the one to know what was going on with each of the guys. Jungkook shrugged.
Just some girl. He said as he shoved more food into his face. Jin tsked and looked at Yoongi who shrugged.
You know how Jimin gets with girls he likes. Yoongi mentioned and Jin nodded.
That’s what I’m worried about. Remember the last one? He fell hard for her, just to have her leave when she tried to get with Kai at a party for EXO’s comeback. Jin sighed. I just don’t want her to be another one of those girls. Jin spoke out his concerns and the guys nodded.
Hobi snatched the phone out of Jimin’s hands and Jimin looked at the older member with anger.
Hyung! What the hell? He asked, but it was too late, Hobi was scrolling through the messages.
So her name is Y/N, she works as a teacher, and she has awesome taste in music. Hobi said to the group as they all chuckled, watching Jimin’s face get more and more red with anger. Jimin didn’t want to share you with the guys just yet, he was still getting to know you, so he had tried to hide his conversations with you as much as possible. Hobi laughed when he saw the anger on Jimin’s face. C’mon Jiminie, don’t be so mad. We are all trying to talk to you, but you’re more preoccupied with this girl! Hobi explained and Jimin looked around at the six guys that sat around him. They were all staring at him, Jin tapping his fingers on the table like a mother angry that her son came in past curfew.
I want to meet her. Jin demanded. That was one thing about Jin’s protective nature, he would always try to intervene and meet any of the guys’ girlfriends or crushes.
Hyung. Yoongi said in a stern tone, and Jin whipped his head to look at Yoongi. Don’t. Yoongi continued and Jin huffed.
DON’T! HOW ABOUT DON’T SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY?! HUH?! Jin screamed in his usual appalled tone and Yoongi stayed completely calm, taking a breath.
Do we all have to relive the Jungkook and IU ordeal? Yoongi asked and Jungkook’s eyes went wide.
NO! Jin hyung! Don’t do that to Jimin! Jungkook exclaimed as he looked at Jin.
It was not that bad. Jin said quietly and Yoongi shook his head.
You interrogated the poor girl. Namjoon replied and Jin crossed his arms.
I did not interrogate. He responded and Tae’s jaw dropped.
You asked her why she hasn’t married Jungkook and when she wanted children. THEY AREN’T EVEN DATING! Hobi exclaimed with laughter in his voice as Jungkook put his forehead on the table.
I can never look her in the eye again. Jungkook mumbled into the table as Jimin looked from him to Jin.
Hyung, please don’t. I really like Y/N, so can I get to know her better before she meets you? He plead with his elder as Jin sighed.
Fine, but she does something stupid and I am going after her. Jin said confidently and Jimin bowed as he stood up and snatched his phone from Hobi’s hands. Letting himself sigh in relief, Jimin walked away from the dinner table and smiled as he saw you had texted him back.
The guys all watched Jimin leave and Jin grabbed Hobi’s collar.
DID YOU GET HER NUMBER?! He yelled at Hobi, who laughed.
Yes, hyung, I got her number. He said as Jin let go of his collar. Jin handed Hobi his phone as Hobi quickly typed in the number.
Jungkook rolled his eyes as he watched the hyung line huddle around Jin’s phone as they began drafting text messages. As he watched the group of guys relay back and forth about different ways to ask invasive questions, Jungkook just hoped that everything would work out for Jimin and you. He saw how happy Jimin had been in the past few days and didn’t want something like Jin being overprotective to ruin that. Tae tapped the youngest member on the shoulder and held up some game controllers and Jungkook nodded, following Tae into the other room to play video games.
You sat, scrolling through your phone at pictures of Jimin on stage. It was weird to think the guy you were talking to was also an international idol, because he seemed so normal. He wasn’t a diva or condescending, if anything he was just a humble and genuine guy. He was honestly interested in your day and the conversations the two of you had were amazing. Elena sipped her tea at your kitchen counter as you showed her the texts.
I’m just so confused, how is he so perfect? You asked her and she laughed infectiously.
That’s what I said about John and you didn’t believe me! She replied and you rolled your eyes.
John is still going through my vetting process. You told her and she chuckled again.
So now do you think it’s weird that people might like to stick with one person for life? She asked and you sat back on your chair. You hadn’t thought about it like that. You were incredibly cynical when it came to love, you saw it as some made up feeling that companies preyed upon to sell chocolate and flowers. Sighing, you looked at her.
I don’t know if love is real. You murmured and Elena, in her true friend way, sighed and shook her head sadly. She was always looking for Prince Charming, she believed that any guy that walked passed her could be The One, and she wanted you to feel the same. Recently she had gotten into a relationship with a guy named John and although he wasn’t perfect, she wanted it to work out with him. Elena wanted to share her happiness with you, but you seemed to be wary of John.
Love is real, but you seriously need to let your guard down a little. She said, before standing up and going over to the sink to wash out her mug. Jimin seems like a great guy, and add that he’s an idol, and I would say he’s the complete package. So, instead of pushing him away, just continue to talk to him, see where it goes. I’m meeting up with John, so I’ll head out. Love you. She said and gave you a hug before leaving. You sighed and looked at your phone.
Why can’t I just let my guard down? You asked yourself, but you knew the answer. Something that Elena didn’t know was that you used to be like her, you used to believe that love was all around you, but then you started to teach. You loved your students and how they grew up before your own eyes, but there were students that came from bad homes, divorce, abuse, custody battles, you saw it all and you saw it happening to the children. Love can’t exist if someone can be so cruel to their own flesh and blood. You murmured as you thought back on the horror stories. You knew it was wrong to condemn love so easily, but you also couldn’t stop yourself from seeing parents coming in for conferences with you and the meeting ending with them screaming at each other.
You put your phone down and tried to shake the idea of Jimin screaming at you like so many parents screamed at one another. Shaking your head to regain hold of your thoughts, you pulled up your lesson plans before your phone started buzzing like crazy.
1 New Message from Unknown Number.
