(js to say this rq, i had decided to write a couple of hcs for Bully characters starting with bif because the fandom is DEAD butt i kinda have no experience writing writing n stuff, so i’ll learn as i go :). )

Regular

- starting off, i do see him having brothers, not sure why i just thought of it and it seem like it fits. him being the like the second youngest or something, and having older brothers that tease him back to back (because it’s what brothers do) and younger ones that just get on his nerves fits him to me somehow. (plus goes along with another hc i have)

- He’s gotten teased/bullied since like 7th grade. and that same school year is when he’s actually gotten into boxing and started bulking up because of his more scrawny figure. and when he was confident enough, he actually stood up to his bully’s and began talking back to his brothers when they’d tease him and been left alone ever since. (besides by his brothers)

- he’s lowk condescending. like he only is really that way if he doesn’t know you. but once he does get to know you and is more comfortable being around you, he drops the attitude and acts how he really is,

- nerd.?? I only say this because i imagine him liking comics, books, video games, and star wars. now the comics he likes are just DC with his favorite character being batman,(he’s literally batman in his mind/j) but he’d read some marvel but only for spider man, deadpool and maybe hulk. and he’d like games like gta, resident evil, silent hill and just popular games with storylines. as also i imagine him liking star wars for a longg time, so he’d probably watch it for a nostalgia type feel.

- sneakerhead. At home he has hundreds of all types of shoes waiting to be worn in his large closet (i just had thought of him being a sneakerhead. i mean like he’s rich isn’t he? plus the dialogue in the game he says “cool kicks!” complementing jimmy on his shoes so just imagineeee)

- dimples.!!

- i’m not saying he’s obsessed with school drama/gossip but he might as well be. once he hears something , definitely expect derby and pinky to know.. no gossip nor drama goes untouched by him. (but according to bif you didn’t hear it from him yk)

- hes more “street smart” than “book smart”. he has average, decent, passing grades, but the other preps (besides pinky) would ask him about “slang” or terms that they naturally wouldn’t know.

- dude can be meann. like really mean, he’s heard things from his brothers and bullies so putting that stuff together is brutal. depending on how sensitive the person is he can send someone like algie crying in a bathroom stall just by his words. or if your not as sensitive, you’ll at least be thinking about what he said for a good while.

- he actually respects old people very much. literally the type to walk a old person across the street then continue to fight a guy on the street for messing with a poor old woman.

- dry ah texter. he prefers irl convos and facetime so a texting convo would definitely be something like:

y/n: heyy bifff

bif: hi

y/n: wyd rn?

bif: nothing

y/n: i’ve got plans tmr if you wanna tag along?

bif: nope, i got plans too. bye

and yea.

- usually the quiet type, but when it’s a actual conversation going on he’s pretty funny.

- randomly says his outta pocket thoughts out loud, it’s pretty much a habit for him to just be like “i wonder how many 7 year old i can beat up” and that’s that.

- smartass

- perfect ah teeth

- snores soooo fucking loud that you wouldn’t believe it. can literally hear him 3 doors down if the walls aren’t thick enough.

- likes rap, especially 90s rap but he’ll listen to new gen rap as long as it’s not mumble rap (he js might still listen to mumble rap at times)

- batman for halloween

Dating

- he is a simpp. literally will do anything for you. To taking his dads credit card to spoil you, Beat up people giving you a hard time or just scaring them off, and to just sneaking in your dorm to talk for hours

- he doesn’t do PDA really, but he will kiss you and play in your hair. or even whisper sweet things in your ear just to see you giggle or just smile

- he’d literally beg his dad to get his own car just so he can take you to even nicer places for dates

- he invites you to his house for dinner often and gets his cook to make your favorite foods

- (for girls) i’d think he isn’t around women a lot besides his nanny, pinky and some classmates he sits next to. but that’s about it. so when he first started dating you, pinky and his nanny were the ones he went to for advice, and so he basically did what they recommended just because he didn’t want to lose you as you were his first real and actual partner.

- his flirting isn’t actually bad.. i mean he’d hear his more experienced brothers say all types of things to girls, and he’d just try it on you and it works.

- let’s say bif is with a greaser.. he definitely wouldn’t see that coming at all. Bif taylor dating a greaser.. he probably be a bit hesitant showing you off with the preps (derby) simply because of the things they might say to you and he wouldn’t want someone he loves to hear that. but eventually he tells them something like “that’s y/n my partner,” and leaves it at that

- definitely needs validation and affection in the relationship.

Rambling about Mutant Mayhem

Overall: AWESOME MOVIE! The animation and art style is to die for. If they release an art book I am preordering that shit asap. I was laughing so much throughout the entire thing. The emotional moments hit too (if yk yk). And the FIGHT SCENES. DAMN. The animators understood the assignment fr.

(Btw, there is a mid-credit scene that is veryyy important for the future of this universe. Don’t miss it.)

Highly recommend giving it a watch. Turtles fan or not

But at the end when he pulled through and he got all excited AAAA it was adorable

They comment a lot on how Raph is always angry, but he wasn’t rlly? It was more enthusiasm and aggression, not outright anger. Not a complaint just an observation

About Splinter, I rlly enjoyed his storyline. It’s made rlly clear how much he loves the turtles and how hard he’s trying. But the movie actively called out his behavior without making him a villain. Bravo.

Speaking of villains, Superfly slapped. Mans was intimidating, cool, smart. Rlly liked his and Splinter’s parallel arcs

Kinda iffy on the whole ‘they learned ninjitsu through media’ thing.

I hope that in the show they can touch on that. Maybe show that they’re training is incomplete and have them improve their skills with a proper teacher

I think my only other nitpick is that the other mutants don’t have enough moments to shine. They def make do with the time they have and it works, but I would’ve liked more ( Bebop and Rocksteady specifically)

I had tons of mixed feelings about that ending. But the mid-credit scene saved it

Now lets talk about April and Leo

It’s not explicitly stated to be canon. April going to prom with Leo felt like it was framed to be a casual, just friends thing. And I rlly hope that’s what they were going for.

Do I ship it? No.

I’m glad that Leo and April didn’t rlly end up together. Because it would’ve been super unnecessary and forced. Nothing I got from the narrative or message suggests that a romantic pairing helps the plot. I despise the ‘girl is clearly not interested but ends up with guy anyways’ trope and I’m glad that it kinda wasn’t there?? Again, it wasn’t super clear. But nothing romantic between them was shown at the prom or anywhere else so I’m going to choose to believe it’s not canon.

IF THAT WERE TO CHANGE depends on the upcoming show.

If the show has a well written, healthy, and developed relationship. I’d be all for it.

Just please do not pull a 2012 again. I saw that meet-cute ik what you’re trying to pull writers you better tread carefully.

And speaking of 2012; when you’re gonna introduce Casey Jones (i say when because yes), if you’re going to try the whole April love triangle thing again, at least make it funny. You managed to make rizzless Leo entertaining I’m sure you can do the same here. Just don’t make it as annoying as Capritello was in 2012 learn from your mistakes

Better yet, pull a Spiderverse and subvert expectations by making Casey an absolute bro to Leo. Idk, be creative with it.

I mentioned that Snamione fics don't have a lot of fake dating storylines, and my partner reasoned that it's because we have/use Marriage Law instead. I'd like your thoughts.

Oh, what an interesting thought! I never contemplated that and my first impulse was to disagree because fake dating and Marriage Law have inherently different vibes. While fake dating tends to be light-hearted and fun, there always is an edge and dark undertone to Marriage Law because it's so messed up to force somebody to marry. Like, I wouldn't be that inclined to write fake dating because that's not the type of story I like to write, but I feel drawn to Marriage Law; there's just so much drama to unpack, it's delicious. 😆

But then I thought some more and realised... Hermione and Severus aren't the type of people to do fake dating. I know, there are some stories with that trope, and can work and is a lot of fun to read, but judging by the characters we see in the books, both probably wouldn't let themselves be pressured into needing a partner so why should they fake date, yk? Hermione would probably found an organization against those backdated conventions and lead a riot against the discrimination of singles, and Severus would glare anyone into submission who suggests he'd need a partner. So, to get those two into a fake dating scenario, there has to be some sort of pressure - and yeah, that basically is Marriage Law. 👀

So I guess I would agree with your partner - Marriage Law feels a lot like fake dating, Snamione edition. 😂

I absolutely loved loved LOVED this episode :DDDD. Dude, the ANGST 😭😭❤️❤️❤️👀!!! The drama, the searching, the referring to people as fiance 🥰🥰 (what I just love it okay xD), even Owen's storyline!! Especially the shortness of it XDD - no offense Owen. But I mean, we definitely got way more of the other one, as we should lol. I am glad there was another plot though, just because it would feel a little weird having an entire episode pretty much just following TK around. That makes it sound casual but yk xD. Also, it gives us time to stress lol, and makes it feel like more time has passed. Basically I just think it was needed for the flow :). Plus at least if Owen had to be not being there for his son, he wasn't stealing the spotlight XD. Anyway lol, absolutely amazing episode, just, stellar 😍😍.

Gasping shock from the promo and everything else and also just gasping in ~drama~ and like a billion things and all the feelings at once lol. I am not okay xdd.

But seriously for quite a while while (yes that's on purpose) I was catching up on my liveblogging I was like having shortness of breath man xD I was literally losing it lol

I still am but I'm gonna work on this for a little bit and then go eat dinner and take a break lol xdd. I do want to get it all done now but my hands and my brain (from having to word so much, and I don't mean that in a grammatically correct way, I just mean words man xD) are tired lol. Like I'm not out of words quite but I just feel like taking a break lol, since I was freaking out the whole time, during the episode (and typing for most of it), and I've been catching up for the past hour lol. So that's two hours of freaking out, trying to get everything, and stressing lol xD. So, I'mma do some of this (I actually already did and came back to add that I was unsteady since I meant to lol, I decided to say it here when it happened xD), and then come back later lol. I just need to destress for a bit I think, no matter how much I'd love to finish it now while my feelings are fresh XD. I need energy for the rest of the things I have to do tonight lol. But, I will be coming back :).

Now, onto the individual parts lol.

So xD. I think I'm just gonna do like, the 126, Grace, Owen (including O'Brien), and then of course Tarlos ft. Gabriel XDD. Alright, let's get into it lol.

The 126!! My babeys 🥰🥰🥰🥰. I loved them so much :'DDD. We didn't get to see much of them, but at least we got that entire scene with TK in the beginning 🥰🥰🥰. We got to see their siblingism lol, in the teasing aspect of that xD, but we also saw them supporting TK, which was really nice :'DD. Even a splash of Nanteo, lol xD! Plus of course Nancy and TK siblingism specifically 🥰🥰🥰. Anyway, we didn't see much of them, and I do miss them, but I loved this storyline (including in the past few episodes) so I'll allow it lol <333. And continuing on, despite the fact that we didn't see them much this episode, they were amazing :DD. I love them all with my whole heart 🥰🥰🥰. Oh and Judd I miss you 😭😭😭❤️🥰 XD. Luckily he will be coming back to us next week lol <333. Anyway, in short, I love them <3333.

Grace!! We love our girl 🥰🥰. She was amazing finding all the stuff on Carlos :D. Especially considering it was illegal xD. At first at least, but I assume it was still illegal later lol. Owen! Owennn. My mannn. SIR. ANSWER YOUR PHONE WHEN YOUR SON CALLS!!! Okay like I know he was dealing with terrorism and the FBI and everything and I get that, and genuinely it is a good excuse lol, but I'm still mad xD. Still, it'll make for angst down the line :D. Anyway, besides that lol, I did actually really enjoy Owen's storyline today :)). I mentioned to someone earlier today how I was laughing a lot last week despite it being about a kidnapping, but that I'd probably be laughing less at this one (and that it was also a kidnapping lol). And I mean, I was, but I was still laughing lol xD. Besides panicked laughing basically at myself lol. Mostly going "I'M FINE :))))" with a bit of laughing xD. But my point is lol, Owen's storyline provided some laughs XD. Bc I mean, he provides some great jokes xD. Also, while I was definitely way more exciting for the other storyline's scenes, I still enjoyed Owen's :). Like I said earlier, it was necessary for the flow.

Anyway, YESS! I'm glad O'Brien isn't actually one of them - I don't think they'll pull another twist on us, so I think it'll stay this way lol. And even though it was funny sometimes, I'm glad we're done with the under-coverness. In and out and in and out - it's just simpler now. Now, I genuinely thought (or maybe I just hoped, but I think I thought lol) that they would be suspecting O'Brien and not Owen, but then that guy kept on talking lol. And honestly, c'mon Owen, the one time you don't wanna fight? But nah xD, it was the smart thing to do lol. I'm also glad that we're (or Owen is at least) getting along a bit better with O'Brien. It's not like we (why am I saying we lol) were necessarily on bad terms, but Owen and him were finding things in common, and honestly they've kinda been through it xD. I think he'll be useful in the future :). And I really do hope they find his nephew - and that he's not the bomb maker. But I wouldn't exactly be surprised if he is, you know? I mean, maybe I will be in the heat of the moment, depending on how much it was hinted at, but still. It would suck (like :( not >:/), but it would be interesting 👀.

Anyway, I'm a bit dreading the storyline of that person targeting Owen because of Owen being the center of attention, but also, I'm excited for it :). Especially since, even if they're not directly targeted for being related (not literally in all except TK's case) to Owen, the others will be affected by it too :). I'm assuming that's where the clip we've seen in promos of Owen warning people comes from, that whole plotline coming up. But, anyway, I'm excited :). And yes, these paragraphs are kind of short, because I ain't interested in having a repeat of last week lol. Anyway, lastly, I am glad Owen answered the first time TK called, and he did resist the FBI for a minute to talk to him a bit longer :). It still sucks he had to rush off, but I'm glad he was at least there for TK a little bit <3. I'm totally (as long as I have the motivation, and who knows if I'll finish it but I will definitely try lol) writing a fic about him listening to messages TK left him and losing it (not totally). Well, let's say being distressed lol. Anyway, despite all I've said about Owen here lol, I loved him <33.

Now. Finally :). TK and Carlos. A A A H H H H H H H H H H H!!! 😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰😍😍💔💔❤️❤️❤️😭😭❤️❤️🥺🥺🥺❤️❤️❤️. Okay, I'm good lol. Kind of xD. Anyway, I'll try and at least make this longer than Owen's - on principle lol -, but I don't have quite as much to say since I said a lot more about Tarlos in the moment than I did Owen lol. I'm trying to make my reviews a little shorter by not including quite so much of what I said in the liveblogs, more of my thoughts that I didn't put down (usually the more thought out ones lol), so it's a little easier for me to do them :). Motivation just be that way sometimes lol! Anyway :D. My boyyssss 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰. But also. My boyyssss 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. XD. Anyway, I thought they were AMAZING this episode. And, just a quick note - UGH, the ACTING!!!!! SO. AMAZING. Thank you Ronen and Rafa 😭😭❤️ :) :D.

Anyway, this episode was DEFINITELY an angsty one - obviously - but it was so, so good :D. For them, I mean - it was in general but this ain't about that right now lol. Seeing all their emotions, really strong ones obviously, was just heartbreaking 😭. And, I was only just thinking about this, but they kind of paralleled each other. Obviously they're having similar feelings (like fear lol), but in different ways, because of their different sides of the equation. Plus, we haven't seen TK's anger in a while - besides the slight anger/the frustration with Iris -, and it was fuuun :DDD >:)). Anyway, just seeing how TK's emotions redirected into the anger, and Carlos's were forced to go into logical thinking. It was rough 😭. And also, that scene of Carlos seeing TK on the doorbell monitor? Wow, why don't you break my heart with a hammer already :'). Or that meat tenderizer Trudie used to smash carlos's phone :'D. Anyway XD.

TK obviously went through it this episode, but I mean. Carlos is the main focus of going through it here XD. They were both suffering and I'm totally vibing with the double angst but right now let's talk about Carlos since he was literally kidnapped, drugged, and almost killed lol. Also during the liveblog I was mostly just screaming, so I'm gonna differentiate some of my emotions here XD. Now, when Carlos was quiet (not quite submissive) or drugged it was awful, but whenever he was fighting back it was just viscerally uncomfortable. In a really good acting and such kinda way lol. Especially earlier on in the episode - by the time we was fighting Darryl at the end I was consumed even more by other things, one of which being "YES YES YES GOOOO CARLOS, SLAYYYY GO OFF, BEAT HIM!!!!" XD. But anyway, the entire time it was just so heartbreaking 😭😭❤️💔🥺. And Carlos saying that Gwyn's love passed through him because he had no idea how he could love TK that much? I just. Wow. I think he'd probably actually thought that before lol, not just coming up with it for Trudie's benefit, but even if he did, DANG. That is some powerful stuff xdd 😭😭. Also heartwrenching and heartwarming lol xD. Just emotional in general.

And now some on TK! Then a bit of Tarlos and then some less emotional plot stuff lol. Anyway, ANGRY TKKKK :DDD!! XDD But besides that, seeing the subtleties in his fear - the constant bouncing, the way he always looked like he was about to cry. Just, UGH 😭😭😭, so good. And I'm sure this experience will definitely mess him up - don't even get me started on how much this'll have traumatized Carlos - xd. Honestly if we don't get a lot of it in canon, I'm excited for the fics that explore Carlos and TK's trauma from this more :). Probably more stuff of dealing with it/having it brought or rise up than deep dives but those too lol. Even if we get a lot in canon xD. Anyway, lol. It was just heartbreaking to see TK unravelling throughout the episode; in scenes like him talking with Gabriel he's clearly trying to keep it together, but by the time we get to investigating he's really losing it. Just, UGH, so good :'DDD 😭🥰❤️😍.

Now that last scene - well, the last two actually, I'll include the ambulance/after scene lol. TK having to do chest compressions and save Carlos (well, hold onto him for a little :') ) was just 😭😭😭. And seeing Carlos try to focus on TK when he was still awake? UGH, 😭😭😭😭 so good. And AAGHHHH 😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️. It was such an amazing scene but MAN did it hurt xd. Especially Carlos jumping away from them when he woke up 💔💔 <33. And after that, the conversation about holding onto his life :'DDD? And how TK HAS HIS LIFE 😭😭😭😭❤️❤️🥰🥰. Y'all it's over close it down it was all worth it for this xD. They're just so adorable and in love :')). Also, YESSS THE "ARE YOU GONNA RIDE WITH YOUR BOYFRIEND?" PARALLELLLLLLL!!! WHOOOO 🥰🥰😍😍😭🥳🥳🥳🥳😭. WE DESERVE IT XDDD. I will say again that it would've been even better (than 100% amazing) if it has been fiancé this time lol. Anyway xD. Oh and yeah I loved how much they said fiancé this time :'). Anybody <33. I just love acknowledgments of people's relationships okay :'DDD. But especially Tarlos being fiancés ;'))))). Idk why winky just because :D.

Anyway, plot wise I absolutely loved Tarlos in this episode. It was super interesting and obviously VERY tense, and the kidnapping (kidnappers, backstory, reason for it, etc) was actually very interesting. Not that I necessarily expected it not to be, but I didn't really think about it much lol. Also, I don't think any of us expected TK at the door xD 😭. Anyway, I also thought Trudie seemed in character the whole time with what we knew of her - she wasn't evil, and she believed in love (especially that of a mother and a son), so she let Carlos out. But she loved her son more than anything, so she protected him from Carlos. That's just the one example but yeah I thought it was really interesting, and really good :D. Also, TK working with Gabriel this episode? Obviously >>>>. As we all expected lol xD.

Now, for a quick look at next episode and after that: I hope we'll see Carlos next episode, and hear about his recovery and all that, but I think we'll see TK mention it but not actually see Carlos. I think it would be difficult to just have in one scene - like I said earlier, it's an important thing, too much to just put in a throwaway (not throwaway but I mean not one of the main plots of the episode) scene. I just think it would feel unnatural, but I don't know that we'll get a whole storyline on it next episode. And while I would absolutely love that, it makes sense. And it's been way too long since we've truly seen the others and they deserve some screen time :D. So, yeah, I think it'll get mentioned, and then in the next episode we see Carlos in/a few episodes from now we'll see some of the aftermath of this episode. See, I wouldn't be surprised at, say, a Carlos returning to work storyline in an episode (as in the one after this next one) or two, and having to deal with/explore some of the trauma through that. I mean the plot, but Carlos also having to deal with it lol. And obviously if something like that does happen we better have amazing support from TK <3. Anyway, I just hope (I know they will :'D) they support each other and love each other (not really a hope it's a fact lol), and they'll get through this :'D. Anyway, long story short, I LOVE THEM SO MUCH YOUR HONOR 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰😍😍🥰🥰🥰!!! Yeah, I love them <3.

Overall, I absolutely loved this episode. I adored it :D. It was so, so amazing, and once it's been a little longer I'll probably rewatch it - I don't rewatch full episodes a lot, and usually if I watch clips it's not angsty ones, but it can be. Anyway, for example, I haven't re-watched any episode this season yet, but I think I may rewatch this one this week. If I can clam down enough lol XD. I'm still tense just thinking about it, writing this. Plus from something else I was watching, but that's besides the point lol. Anyway, obviously I loved the kidnapped plot this episode, but I really enjoyed Owen's too :). Especially since it'll apparently play into the angst we see for TK and Owen in the future :D. Which, I'm glad was directly addressed (well, seen by us lol, addressed by the show, not characters) this episode. Usually it's tiny things or things we just assume, and I imagine some of which will be brought up in that future storyline, but today we saw TK outwardly bothered by it :). Very interesting! Not confusing though, it definitely makes sense lol. Anyway! I loved seeing a bit of the 126 - the scene they were in was great lol -, though it was odd to see TK mostly doing this on his own. He wasn't, but he also wasn't interacting much with the others. This episode felt like it was literally following TK, Carlos, and Owen. Luckily for the episode Carlos didn't move much lol. . . . sorry lol XD. Anyway (also yes the period and then separate ellipse was on purpose lol), it was really cool :D. Just odd how, maybe because he wasn't at work, we didn't see any of the team's reactions to everything going on. Certainly interesting. Also, I live in FEAR of the next episode 😳👀. I think the ending of the promo there is a red herring, an in the moment kind of association - I don't think it's Marjan leaving, I think it's probably Owen or O'Brien, maybe one of the other gang members. Also I doubt Marjan will really leave, or at least not for long (if it lasts for multiple episodes I'll die <3), but I am still very much in fear :'D. TK looks way too at peace in that last shot (or one of the last shots anyway) for Marjan to be leaving though xD. But yeah, it looks super interesting and I'm excited to see that big fire, and why everything that happens happens :D. Anyway! Back to this episode lol :). Grace was also amazing, I'm interested to see where Owen's storyline is going since while it closed a chapter, it's the only storyline from this episode that's actively continuing (we're sure to see aftereffects of the other one), I'm so glad Carlos is okay :'D, and all in all I just thought it was a super great episode :DD. Very emotional 😭😭, super dramatic, and had some comedy bits xD. I LOVED it 🥰🥰🥰😍❤️❤️.

A Little Like Waking by Adam Rex

i adore Adam Rex with my whole heart so i had a feeling i was gonna love this one, and my feeling was right!! from page one reading this was like curling up in a warm bed, a relief to be in the hands of a wordsmith and a delight to just be sucked in for a while. it's a perfect combo of hilarity and fresh, surprising prose with a surreal storyline that brought me back to beloved media of my childhood like The Phantom Tollbooth and Labyrinth and The Point! and The NeverEnding Story--plus the kind of very sweet, soft, tender romance that can only happen between two people having the weirdest adventure possible. yk that feeling when you're waking up from a dream and realizing that nothing happening in it makes any sense, but in the dream it was completely ordinary? this whole book feels like that, as it should, because it's about two teens realizing they're in a dream, or maybe in a story, and trying to find the way out.

Zelda is so incredibly charming! Patches the talking cat is the ideal animal companion! Langston is the sweetest boy to ever boy! and i adored every wacky side character, from Clara the postal worker and Erx the wizard to the laundromat clown and the giant duck. all of this is made infinitely more wonderful by Rex's illustrations, which have always delighted me and continue to do so, giving visual life to the comedic weirdness of the dreamscape.

and as with every book that lives in my heart, i wept with my whole crinkled up face at the end. i'm so mad i didn't get to meet Adam Rex when i was a bookseller, i desperately want to hang out with him for a while.

OHHHHH I AGREE!! Venti is very sweet - so I totally see the appeal of making him cruel in the sagau (I have contributed too), but him being on the reader's side? Underrated trope I love <3 He DOES deserve some love! I've written a lot about Zhongli being the soft savior, so I haven't gotten much of a chance to explore Venti in that position myself - I hope I did him justice!

Mondstadt was considered the city of freedom, above all. A nation much less complicated in its existence than Liyue, the capital of commerce, or the perpetually turbulent land of supposed eternity.

Barbatos, or Venti, as he went by now, had fought hard to ensure that freedom for his people - to end the tyrannical rule of Decarbian and allow the winds of freedom to soar through the lands.

Yes, perhaps he was considered the weakest of the seven, for refusing to govern over his nation directly, but if weakness was thriving off of the joyous and carefree desires of his people - he'd gladly accept the title.

His bond with you - the almighty Creator was strong, as he had lived for many long centuries - all the while sensing your gentle and guiding presence leading him like a gust of wind.

His ballads focused mainly on human joys, freedom - and of course, you.

You - he could sing for decades more to come and never run out of inspiration when it came to you.

You guided the little wisp of a being he had been towards his future as an archon. You ignited in his dear friend's heart - leading him towards the rebellion.

You.

He was devoted to you more than anything else in the world.

You had admired this shiny new game - with beautiful soundtracks, compelling storylines, characters and fun gameplay.

You had spent hours playing it, farming for your favorite characters and progressing.

And you certainly had never imagined finding yourself in Teyvat one day.

And yet- you had awoken to sights never before seen by the human eye.

You had been confused, of course. Waking up in Inazuma - the area you had been exploring when you last played the game. Not really knowing what else to do, you had headed into the city.

Bad move.

Barely escaping the rage of the citizens egged on by the Raiden herself, you were left to dodge the furious bolts of lightning chasing after you.

By the time you reached Liyue, managing to hide aboard ships and slip out into the harbor - the news had already spread from Inazuma. Everyone was out to get you.

Including the Qixing and the previous Archon himself.

You barely managed to escape the boarders of Liyue with your life - powerful adepti and humans alike chasing after your trail.

By the time you finally reached the lands of Mondstadt, you were a mess. Injured - cold and filthy.

And jaded.

You had no desire to attempt at breaching the walls of Mondstadt. You would be better off in the wilderness, until the people inevitably find out that you are in their nation. You hoped you could rest for a few days, at the very least.

Your few days of peace, surprisingly stretched out to even more days - until it had been a week - then another few. All spent out in the wilderness, scavenging any food you could get your hands on through the surprisingly helpful hilichurls.

Still, the time eventually came, when you could no longer avoid entering the city.

A quick get in, get out plan.

Or not.

The sun beamed down happily upon the lively city of Mondstadt. Merchants were cheerfully promoting their product - the adventurers guild looked for new recruits, and people with the day off wondered the city aimlessly, enjoying the melodic tunes in the town square, played by none other than their disguised archon.

Recently he'd been sensing the creator's presence stronger than ever - after losing them from his thoughts, he'd been more than concerned, but now, as the winds itself whispered and sung to him about the arrival of the Creator - he knew it was only a matter of time until they met once more, this time in person - at last.

His fingers strummed the strings of his lyre with ease, his mind automatically wiring itself to sing of his beloved creator.

His words were gentle, yet loud and enticing for all to hear. The emotion - the yearning and excitement - it infected onlookers as he allowed himself to get lost in the music. Gentle breezes played with his hair like loving hands, tugged at and ruffled his clothes and he felt joy.

You wander the streets in silence, a raggedy cloak covering your form, the baggy hood mostly shading your face.

You could do this.

Your fist clenched the few mora you'd managed to collect, digging through the dirt of abandoned campsites and worn-down chests.

You took in a shake breath as you approached the grocer, hoping to make the transaction quick and simple.

Your whole body was tense - well aware of the archon in disguise strumming away at his lyre without a care in the world. You supposed you should be thankful he was much less vigilant than the other two you'd previously been subjected to.

"Hello! How may I help you?" Blanche asked you with a cheery voice, a wide smile plastered upon her face.

You gulped.

"Could I get..." your eyes grazed over the items on display.

"A couple of potatoes?" you asked, keeping your voice quiet, yet strained, as you avoided meeting her eyes.

She smiled and grabbed a couple.

It wasn't much, but you could no longer find any in the campsites you'd scoured, and it was nutritional, at the very least.

"That'll be 240 mora," she said with an upbeat voice.

You bit your lip.

"Make it one, then," you whispered, feeling tears prickling in your eyes.

You still needed to buy some medicine, after all - you were sure you'd caught a cold spending the nights on moist grass, winds cutting through your light clothes.

She nodded sympathetically, and you finished your transaction.

This had been much easier when you had a steady income of commissions and boss fights, you mused.

Just as you passed through the town square, ready to head to the florist, you managed to catch your foot on one of the rocks embedded into the cobbled ground.

With a soft yelp, you tumbled onto the ground, your hood slipping off your head and your newly made purchase escaping your grasp along with your leftover mora.

You could feel your throat closing up as tears began to form - but you desperately began to snatch up your belongings, hoping you could go unnoticed in the ground.

You could not.

You had been too preoccupied with your thoughts to notice that the lyre had stopped releasing its melodic chords.

"Here, let me help!" you heard a soft, almost boyish voice declare, as a gust of wind washed over you.

You stopped in your tracks, feeling a sudden chill run across your spine.

Venti.

Slowly, your gaze shifted upwards, meeting his wide, aquamarine eyes.

For a moment, time stood still.

"Your...Grace..." he whispered, his voice oozing of disbelief and bewilderment.

"I swear I'm not-" you paused. "Huh?"

He grinned as he reached out a hand for you, beaming with delight as a warm breeze surrounded you.

Shakily, you took it, and allowed him to pull you to your feet.

"How come you're dressed in rags like this?" he asked, frowning as he gently wiped off dust from your shabby cloak.

You failed to find the words to answer, instead glancing around at the crowd that had suddenly fallen silent.

As you feared, all eyes were on you following Venti's sudden outburst.

Venti, seeming to notice the direction of your gaze, let out an awkward chuckle.

"Mondstadt! The Creator has decided to grace our Nation with their presence!" he exclaimed, his glee summoning forth eager gusts of wind that scattered around beautiful flower petals and floral scents imbued with joy.

The crowd cheered.

You wondered if you were dreaming.

"Let's get you to the knights' headquarters, your Grace," Venti spoke as he ever so gently took your hand in his - his skin so soft and unmarred compared to the calloused and dirty ones of yours.

You could only nod shakily, afraid of any reaction that rejecting might draw out of the Archon. Yes, he was sweet - but he was still powerful.

He lead you through the streets of Mondstadt proudly, beaming with delight.

You were truly in Teyvat.

Your hand was in his - skin against skin.

No longer were you a distant force guiding his actions or hovering around the traveler - this time it was truly you.

His cape flowed cheerfully in the wind, trailing behind him as he skipped along - eager to give you a welcome truly worthy of the god you were.

You allowed yourself to be dragged into the knights' headquarters, your eyes frantically scanning your surroundings as you took in the all too familiar sights you'd experienced through other characters.

You were well aware where he was taking you, by the time he paused at a door.

The air in the room was chilly - the stone walls harboring an eternal coldness that seeped out from every pore and crack. The room was beautiful, decorated with many antiques and expensive books lining the walls.

Large, looming windows that allowed the sunlight to pour in, lighting the office and giving it a warmer, more welcoming glow.

You gulped as you stared at the tall blonde sat at her desk.

Her gaze shifted upwards at the sound of her door opening - ever vigilant and ready to assist despite the burden it placed on her much too young shoulders.

A quiet gasp escaped her lips, barely audible to you - but you could see shock setting onto her features, her eyes wide as she took in the sight of you and Venti.

She was quick to her feet.

Venti's hand released yours gently and you felt your knees wobble beneath your frame, threatening to give in as the woman approached slowly.

"Your...your..." her eyes darted to Venti - questioning.

He nodded with certainty.

Jean heaved a shaky breath - and in a graceful swoop, she was on one knee before you, her hand upon her heart as she bowed. A true vision of a knight worthy of her title.

"Your grace." she spoke, addressing you just as formally as Venti had. Speaking of whom - he was quick to take a position mirroring Jean's - a gleeful grin still stretched across his lips.

Jean approached you gently.

"I would have never thought I'd live to see this day," she spoke, her voice proud, yet quivering with an edge of excitement, it seemed like.

Your wide eyes met hers - uncertainty.

Fear.

Worry.

Yet her gaze held none of the malice of the people of Inazuma - none of the accusations of Liyue.

Were you truly safe?

"I...will you hurt me?" you asked, taking a step backwards - a precaution ingrained into your system since your first day in Teyvat. You could breathe knowing the door behind you was unlocked, at the very least.

But how far could you truly get in your weakened state?

"Hurt?"

It was Venti who spoke this time. He sounded confused, his brows furrowed as he studied your covered form.

"Why would we want to hurt you, your Grace?" he asked, taking a step closer.

You flinched.

He froze in his tracks.

"Has...has someone hurt you?" his voice was lower now, the childlike wander wiped away by the very winds he held command over.

You nodded, hesitantly.

Wild winds raged outside the walls of Mondstadt - angry, cold, harsh - unforgiving and relentless.

In the safe walls of the Knights' headquarters, you were tucked under the softest - warmest covers in a large plush bed. The grime - washed off - and your injuries treated to by Barbara herself.

Heat pooled into the cold stone walls from the lit fire roaring in the fireplace - the soft scents of burning wood and delicacies prepared just for you hovering in the air.

You could barely think, barely feel in that moment. Your mind was blank. And heavy - sudden changes leaping out at you from every corner.

Sudden kindness without ulterior motives.

It left you exhausted.

And finally - you slept.

"This is unacceptable behavior on the part of Liyue and Inazuma. We cannot allow this to go unpunished!'

Jean's voice dripped with raw emotion as she paced her office, running her hands through her hair desperately, trying to find something to cling to.

She was not quick to anger - but here she was - her most trusted citizens and Barbatos himself surrounding her as she allowed herself to ignite.

"I know," Venti spoke - sounding less energetic than usual, his tone laced with contemplation.

"I know Morax and Ei are not the gentlest - but both of them have worshipped the Creator nonetheless."

"Then how could they call them an imposter? And send down a hoard of pursuers to hurt them?" Kaeya spoke up, his usual coolness shrugged off in this heated moment. If there was anyone worth unmasking his true self for - it was you.

Jean took a deep breath. We will need to deal with the other nations - but first, the Creator needs rest. And safety." She stated.

"And we must be able to provide that for them."

Murmurs of agreement rang through the office, the figures barely lit by the setting sun casting its last rays of light through the windows opposing them.

Your safety was first.

Justice could wait a little.

When you first awoke - all you could feel was warmth. Warmth, flooded by a wave of confusion. Confusion trickling away into remembering.

Your fingers delicately gripped the edge of your covers, lifting them up to peek at your body - bandages wrapped around the worse injuries, fading scars over smaller ones.

You let out a breathy, disbelieving laugh - more of an exhale than anything - as you saw your newfound luxurious surroundings.

The heavy wooden door was knocked upon. You were quick to draw the covers up to your shin, still clutching onto the edge of them for some semblence of safety.

"Y..Yes?" you asked, your voice small and uneven as you eyed the door.

Would the person behind it ambush you?

You gulped as it creaked open.

Venti was quick to surge in-holding a tray in his arms.

"Good morning, your Grace!"

You stared at him - his cheerful demeanor instantly lighting up the room.

"Morning, Venti."

He skipped over and placed the tray next to your bedside table delicately, barely making a sound in doing so. A plate with steaming pancakes and a cup of what seemed to be tea stood upon the silver material, wafting new appetizing scents through the room.

You glanced at the archon.

"I got you breakfast! I can get you something else if you'd like though, your Grace," he beamed, kneeling on the hard wooden floor beside your bed.

You managed a half-hearted smile.

"Thank you," you spoke, reaching for the plate with a shaky hand.

"How did you sleep?"

You sighed, taking a bite as you pondered over your response.

"Better than ever," you admitted sheepishly, "beats sleeping on damp moss."

Venti's brows furrowed.

"I'm glad that you slept well, at the very least," he sighed, leaning onto the edge of your bed with his propped elbows as his gaze drifted to the windows.

"How are your injuries?"

"Much better - thanks to Barbara," you smiled. "I'll need to thank her properly later."

Venti heaved a sigh of relief.

Proudness swelled in his chest. His people could help you. Help keep you safe and happy.

"That's good," he chirped, turning his aquamarine eyes onto you once more, a childlike glimmer of joy swirling in them.

You finished your breakfast in mostly silence - Venti occasionally asking you simple questions, and you giving him sparse-worded answers.

Once finished, Venti gathered up the dishes and bowed.

"I'll be back to check on you soon!"

Days passed by quickly - and soon you were feeling good as new once more. The city celebrated your return - your recovery - everything about you, it felt like.

You were constantly surrounded by eager companions - knights and the like - who swore to protect you.

That being said - after that much time alone - it felt suffocating to be doted on so much.

So, you seeked out temporary escapes - finding corners in the knights headquarters where you could have time and space to breathe.

You appreciated all the people did for you - how could you not? But sometimes, you needed to escape into yourself and handle the overwhelming emotions of your troubled times in Teyvat by yourself.

The gentle breeze caressed your hair as you sat on the rooftop of the knights' quarters, your gaze looking off into the distance - watching the trees sway in a gentle dance with the wind. Occasional leaves landed beside you as the gusts of air brought them to you in what almost felt like an offering.

You huffed in amusement as the comparison came to mind, gently picking up one of the leaves between your thumb and index, holding it by the stem as you watched it sway in your hand.

You sighed.

"Your Grace!"

You flinched, dropping the leaf and watching it flutter down to the ground far below as you allowed the sudden intrusion to frighten you.

You turned your head towards the direction of the sound, sighing in relief in seeing it was just Venti.

You smiled awkwardly.

"Hey, Venti."

He allowed a breeze to carry him forward, landing next to you just as delicately as the leaf had earlier, barely making a sound as his foot made contact with the surface.

"What are you doing up here all alone?" he asked, taking a seat beside you, his face scrunching up into a frown.

You shrugged.

"Thinking."

"About?"

"Everything, I guess. I needed a break from the knights," you sighed, dragging your hands across your face in exhaustion as you leaned backwards, supporting yourself with your elbows.

Venti hummed in understanding.

"Are you thinking about...what happened to you?" he asked carefully.

You were silent for a moment, before nodding.

Venti felt his usual calm demeanor threatening to crack - they had yet to punish those that had dared to hurt you, after all. The topic was sensitive and you were clearly not fond of talking about it.

It was a familiar feeling to him.

"Well...if you'd like to get away from the city for a bit - I could take you someplace special," he offered, smiling earnestly.

You raised a brow.

"Without the knights?"

"Yep! Just us!"

You hummed.

"Alright," you agreed, your voice becoming cheerier than before.

Venti grinned and rose to his feet - holding out his soft hand for you to take.

When you did - skin making contact with his - you felt a strong gust of wind swirling around the two of you - your lips parting in awe as it lifted you up.

"The perks of being the Archon of Anemo," Venti grinned as your clothes fluttered in the wind - a childlike grin of your own now plastered upon your face.

"This is...wow..." you managed to gasp out.

Venti giggled.

"This is only the start!"

Your heart soared as the winds carried you above the city of Mondstadt, watching houses and people grow smaller with a bewildered lopsided grin.

Venti grinned as he watched you enjoying yourself. Allowing yourself to be freed from your worries, if only for a short time.

You landed softly upon Starsnatch cliff - your feet making contact with the soft grass with a faint thud.

Venti was quick to land beside you - his cape fluttering behind him while the winds dispersed.

"That was...amazing," you managed to whisper, not minding the mess it had made of your hair and clothes. Elation bloomed within you, whisking away all other worries.

"Anything for you, your Grace," Venti grinned and removed his hat, swooping down into a bow.

You giggled.

"I've always wanted to fly."

His wide smile was almost blinding.

"Just let me know whenever you want a repeat!'

You laughed as you allowed yourself to gaze at the grassy planes surrounding you with an awed expression.

It was so beautiful in person.

You wandered across the cliff happily with Venti - telling him about the happier moments of your past - of your life before Teyvat. Venti listened with devotion, eagerly drinking in every one of your words as though they were his favorite wine.

Even more addicting than the alcoholic substance.

He picked Cecilias gleefully, weaving them into a lovely crown skillfully as you talked - allowing your fears and worries to melt away into the depths of your mind for now.

Later - as you sat upon the edge of the cliff - your legs dangling off it - Venti reached out gently.

"For you, your Grace," he spoke, placing the crown of flowers upon your head. You smiled bashfully, leaning into his touch.

You looked more divine than ever - the white stars weaved into a crown to adorn your head.

He sighed happily, and reached for his Lyre.

Without even thinking, his nimble fingers were already plucking at the chords, a familiar tune washing over you as you watched the sun dipping behind the horizon slowly, painting the sky a mixture of golds as though it was but a mere canvas - the colors bleeding into each other freely and staining the clouds.

You felt free in that moment.

"Thank you, Venti."

He smiled as he set his lyre down.

"For what?"

"For everything," you sighed as you allowed yourself to fall backwards, back making impact with the ground.

Venti huffed a soft chuckle and joined you.

"You made me believe in freedom again. You're truly worthy of your title as the Archon of freedom," you mused, turning to your side to face him.

He rolled over to face you in turn, his grin falling into a soft, adoring smile as his eyes crinkled.

"You're far too kind, your Grace."

You smiled, a bittersweet taste on your tongue.

"I'm just telling the truth."

Your hand slowly reached out, your pinky interlacing with his - a small, yet significant sign of trust on your part.

Venti's felt the blossoms of reverence and joy bloom in his chest as he gently squeezed your finger with his.

"I would do anything for you." He spoke, sounding uncharacteristically somber.

You sighed softly, leaning closer.

"Thank you."

As your forehead gently pressed against his, he knew he truly would do anything for you. Watching your eyes close gently as you lived in the moment, he caressed your cheek with the utmost care, taking in an excited shaky breath as you leaned into the touch.

He would make sure you're happy.

And he would make sure that the other nations would pay.

I’m a firm believer that he loves and prefers light rpg games, he gets so into the storyline and if he gets the chance he’ll play hours or entire weekends on end speeding through quests just to find more game-lore cutscenes. this type of ‘passion’ is the main reason Aizawa has had to confiscate Denkis console on more than one occasion … which explains why he breaks into Bakugos room to play on his ps5 (Aizawa would take the ps5 too but dealing with an angry Bakugo would be more of a punishment for him than for Denki )

but if there’s any game he likes to play most with you it’s definitely Minecraft. there’s no expectation, game lore is kinda optional and the game itself really is more based off theories than actual in-game information, and he has the liberty of doing whatever he wants in a world he gets to build with you ! second best option to building one irl someday

to your surprise he’s actually really good with color coordinating and interior design, often making any of your creations the eye sore of the terrain which low key makes you jealous but you could never actually be mad at him

mostly because he always has the most patience with you when it comes to helping you build and no matter how much you mutter you don’t want his help , he’ll still login when you’re not around to add some flowerbeds or fix a couple awkward builds you make. for the most part tho he doesn’t change too much — he says “looking at your builds baby is like looking at a Picasso painting in 3d!! gives ya something to think about” whatever that means 😐

but Denkis spotlight really shines when he builds things for you !! he’ll spend daysss recreating scenery from your favorite ghibli movies or anime, he’ll build secret hideouts in caves that lead to waterfalls or sometimes he’ll just add white hearts in the sky to look like clouds . and if you had a particular bad day or just feel drained, he’ll leave random notes or boards for you to find as you explore new areas — from cheesy pick up lines to “I love you”s being written on them

honestly Denki loves the game because of how easy going it is, he feels mellowed out by the music and enjoys spawning different monsters to put as exhibits in his own “zoo” (he came up with the idea after watching Tiger King). but yk playing with him is always equal to a fun time. after all ,nothing beats laying up in bed with your lover as he bombards you with kisses each time you do even the simplest of things in a game

BUT there’s one thing your boyfriend refuses to do no matter how much you beg and that’s playing on survival mode

Jirou is 100000% the type of gamer who has a really cute aesthetic pc setup with some merch and collectibles on her desk . yes, all her gaming furniture is white/neutral but her collectibles and decor can be kinda cutesy and no I’m not hearing anyone out

I get the feel that she’s actually a casual player but really invested in her setup because she likes the comfort it brings ++ you love messing with her plushies and figurines so tbh it’s a win win situation. she even bought a giant beanbag for the both of you to lay on when she connects her console to a mini projector to play games

despite her rockish style, Jirou prefers to play easy, calming games than horror or apocalyptic games — I mean her life is already filled with enough danger and excitement so it’s honestly nice to sit down with a matche latte and farm or play a mix of adventurous and calming rpg games like Genshin or stardew valley , BE WARNED if she starts a new rpg game she’ll spend weeks on end telling you all sorts of theories and lore about it . you never really mind tho, seeing her out of her quiet bubble and eyes lit up , it’s almost impossible to tell her you’re too tired to listen so you just “🙄😮‍💨 …. yes love? 🥰”

on weekends when neither of you have work studies to go to , she likes to lay your head on her lap and comb through your hair as she watches you furrow your brows in cute concentration trying to defeat a gang of Fatui from genshin. she absently smiles at the way you bite your lip whenever you take hard blows — she’s too embarrassed to ever say it out loud but she notes each and every facial expression you make when you play and once you smile brightly in victory she’ll lean down and peck your forehead , muttering a sweet “good job baby”

but there isn’t any experience more rewarding to her than playing a game together !!

playing stardew valley is probably her go to game on days that felt too exhausting and you always offer to play it because she always wears the most content smile. the both of you living out your dream cottagecore life as you build shops, farm vegetables, raise and pet animals/cattle, venture into mines and interact with locals. the game felt like home ,even with its more chaotic features

from the perfect sync of teamwork you both have without saying anything to the bitterness you both feel towards an enemy who took the other out , it all felt so natural to her. all the constant teasing and banter, the way you’d offer each other snacks while hyper focused on a game without even having to say anything, poking and nudging when you’d play against one another just to sabotage each other. she could swear right there and then that you’d be the perfect duo in life and someday she planned on officiating it

but for now she was satisfied with her tamed pixelated wolves and cattle, with the home you both spent days building as you bounced off ideas from one another, with the welcomed peace that came with gaming with you. at the end of the day she was more than satisfied being with you

BAKUGO

Monsters hate him ,villagers fear him, violence loves him

to no one’s surprise, Bakugo is as aggressive in-game as he is irl (well tbh he’s even worse) I mean what did you expect? give the man an opportunity to murder his opponents and he will take it. it’s funny tho because he’ll literally swear he’s not having fun as his eyes light up while attacking merchants or bystanders

ngl this blonde hot-head isn’t much of a gamer, he’s the stereotypical ‘games are for nerds and a waste of time’ but if you do your stupid lil sigh of disappointment and glance at him with those dumb kicked-puppy eyes he’ll eventually fold

I get the feel that he owns maybe like a ps5 but doesn’t really play often so Kiri, Mina and Denki end up holing up in his room the second he leaves (he always yells and complains that he hates it but he never actually kicks them out) sooo the gaming setup is probably in your dorm . IF he does play he prefers more intense combat games with the occasional rpg action when he’s up for it but like I said , he’s really not much of a gamer

Bakugo doesn’t bother himself too much with builds, not because he’s bad but because he finds it too tedious and don’t even mention crafting because “we can just steal materials from villagers??” so if you want to focus on making a home base it’s gonna fall on you to make it ,but he makes up for it by providing you with any material you need or want

playing on creative has been absolutely BANNED !! this menace of a man would literally not stop terrorizing innocent villagers and their homes by releasing hordes of monsters or pouring buckets of lava onto any village he finds (and you’re pretty sure you caught him digging holes and pushing random villagers inside just to cover it up .and yk for sure he did when you feel his chest rumble with a low chuckle)

back to my earlier point tho, Bakugo does put a bit of effort in helping you craft he watches yt videos about it on his free time when he’s alone just to help you just don’t mention it if he has a random spike of craft skills

all in all Bakugo really shines when he’s protecting you, even if it’s in some pixelated reality. he knows you’re good at the game but he can’t help but rush to you and defend you when you’re caught near zombie spawners or being attacked by witches , it’s just his love language aw

SHOTO TODOROKI

Playing with Todoroki is like playing with a very confused old man with the curiosity of a child “what’s this?” “is this a cult? … you said a portal?” “what does that do?? — oh I died” “I’m lost” sometimes you get frustrated with his cluelessness but once you glare in his direction and see his mismatched eyes glimmer as he holds a small smile for you you can’t help but huff and mutter a quiet “it’s alright sho, I’ll go find you”

Growing up, Todoroki didn’t have time to play games or really enjoy any aspect of being a kid, and as he grew older he focused more on being the best and growing his quirk than strengthening some character in a fictional reality. he used to view these things as childish and it didn’t make sense why someone would waste time training in a game than irl but after introducing him to a few of your fav games he started to enjoy playing (mostly loves stardew valley and Mario games but he’ll play pretty much anything with you by his side)

but this evolvement came with a double edged sword heh

playing with him, you spend more time watching over him as he gets stuck between trees, jumps in lava, walks into boss domains absolutely oblivious to the fact it’s a boss domain (which btw you spent DAYS trying to find and he just stumbles into 😐) accidentally drown himself trying to build a pool while he’s still in the hole, fall off mountains right before he gets to the very top or die staring at a creeper too long because “he looks like he knows something..” *cue suspicious squinty eyes*

even in creative this man fills his inventory with bones, mushrooms and jack o’ lanterns. he’ll spend the majority of his time looking for wolves instead of spawning them because he likes when they ‘choose’ to follow him back home, if you’re both out exploring he’ll plant lanterns or flowers behind the both of you so you don’t get lost

he’s such a gentle soul and it almost feels unreal to think back to when you first met him , all broody and cold just to uncover such a sweet side underneath

most say it’s character development but tbh you don’t think so ,he’s always been this way underneath — he’s just never had a chance to show it to anyone. and now that he’s surrounded by friends and people who care about him he feels safe enough to let his guard down. but sometimes it can get in the way of his gaming when he refuses to kill any animals for food ,like his character can be starving or low on health and he’ll just be like “and?? 🤨” so pls make sure you have extra food on you and just say you ‘found’ it or smth

you’ve learned that Shoto is pretty keen on farming, he builds a lot of fences and coops to raise chickens and mushroom cows in. he builds fancy looking fields to plant seeds in and each time he seems them sprout he’ll wear a proud smile. throughout the game you can’t help but lean your head on his shoulder as your arms are linked to one another, he rests his cheek on top of your head and occasionally he’ll lift your chin up with his index to place a chaste but passionate kiss on your lips — always seperating with an “I love you”

Chop Top's Childhood Friend Returns

You don't think you would have turned out the way you did without the Sawyers.

They were the main element of your childhood, a mystery that you had to be a part of. A mystery, because they were closed off. Mistrustful. The sickness of small towns carried to the extreme, because they were mostly alone. The loneliness made them more miserable, the misery made them more isolated. A cycle, a legacy.

So it was a a miracle that you were even allowed to be apart of some of it, but you attribute that miracle to Bobby.

He seemed to think you were as much of mystery as what you thought the Sawyers were. Two kids looking through a small window into another world. But he liked that. He liked that you were something different, something new. From beyond that small world of loneliness that lived in the house.

You learned quickly that he had a desire for anything beyond that world. So he'd invite you out with him, when you were kids, to run free in the tall grass, when you got older, to drive with him to places unknown. He had a knack for finding these odd places, and he always brought you along with the music cranked up loud on the radio.

Bobby told you many times that he wanted to see the world. He had this lust for life that went beyond the restlessness of the young. He also said that he wanted to bring you along with him when he saw the world. You didn't ever mention how that always made your heart skip a beat when he said that.

Maybe you should have. But the past is the past and you can't change that.

You knew the other Sawyers too, but Bobby tended to avoid them sometimes. But occasionally, you got to hang out with them.

Nubbins was an enigma. You didn't think Nubbins was his real name. But that's the only one you heard from him, but the name situation was the least confusing thing. He was the most open person you knew. And yet you couldn't understand him, and decided at some point that you wouldn't ever. But he was fun. His energy was infectious, if he was filled with joy, you couldn't help but laugh with him too. That was Nubbins, so absent of any purposeful deceit that he was almost a mirror, you saw yourself around him, sometimes it was uncomfortable, but other times it was fun.

Bubba was the opposite. He seemed to be legitimately wary of you. Bobby once told you that Bubba didn't like to leave the house, ever. He stayed and did the chores. You wondered if he minded, being stuck with all the chores but Bobby said he didn't. It was comforting for him. Always having something set to do. You only saw him once. Nubbins had made him tag along when he needed him to hang some things from a tree. Bones from indeterminate animals, a clock with a nail through it. You don't think Nubbins actually needed Bubba to reach the branches (he climbed pretty well) but he just wanted his little brother to see his work. Bubba didn't make eye contact with you the entire time. He was wholly focused on his task of helping Nubbins. But he was gentle when he helped his brother, careful, and for that you liked him.

Drayton was... well. He was the one Bobby argued with the most. He was his brother, but with how much age between the two, it was almost hard to believe sometimes. Drayton was the one that everybody in Newt knew the most. People liked him well enough, but they said he was odd behind his back. He knew that. You don't think he trusted anything outside the insular world he and his family had existed in for years, and was at odds with Bobby because he didn't get why Bobby wanted anything to do with the world outside.

Oftentimes you would see Bobby after he and Drayton got into it. He'd be fuming, but he'd smile when he saw you. You'd leave with him whenever he came to you. These adventures were the most fun you had when you were there.

The other times you'd go off were when he'd convince you to skip school. Bobby never went himself. He didn't get the idea of all those kids sitting in classrooms for hours, doing nothing but writing and listening. Why do that when you can find things out for yourself? Get into some trouble? In his mind, he was saving you from a very boring thing.

You two knew the area around Newt well. The fields and the flat expanses were the best kind of playground. Your dreams were still set in them. A kind of sunshine filled melancholy.

Bobby told you things in the grass. His dreams yes, but his own thoughts. On music, on late night radio, on movies, on you. He perhaps thought of you as wonderful as voices on the radio, stars on the screen. He never told you that though. But your name was never far from his mouth when Bobby talked about the things he loved.

You and him loved each other as much as two kids who didn't know how to could. He was always on your mind now, with not much tangible objects to remember him with. A photograph taken by Nubbins, your faces blurred because you were laughing. A button, the pin on the back bent. A sweatshirt, which he tie dyed himself, and gave to you one night. The colors were faded. You never did get to return it.

The years away did nothing to lessen thoughts of him. No, they just blurred all together now, and the stream of the sunshine filled melancholy was almost endless. You needed a break. There was only one place you could think of that could help you with that.

So you came back. All things led back to this place eventually. Newt was dying, or dead. Didn't you see somewhere that when a ship went down, it took everything with it? You didn't want to stay for long. But you had to see all of them, you had to know that they were all not these strange figures you had dreamt up.

You went right to the house. You'd never actually been allowed inside, Bobby just always said something along the lines of 'Grandma and Grandpa are napping upstairs' or 'there's a mess' (never mind that he could care less usually about messes.) But you figured he had had a good reason. Maybe he was embarrassed.

When you knocked on the door, your heart was pounding. And that was all. Nothing happened, no indication that anyone was there. You waited, the sweatshirt was too hot but you didn't want to take it off.

Maybe you should come back another time. You were just about to turn around and leave when the door burst open, almost whacking you in the face. And there (you couldn't believe your eyes you couldn't this was a dream) he was.

Bobby had a hammer raised over his head, grinning, he was poised to swing it down, but then he saw you and he felt as if he was in a dream too.

It's been so long. He thought he made you up, a dream to carry him through misery, and you looked the part, even as you stood before him on the doorway. The light of the setting sun shone behind you, heat waves shimmered in the dusk, and you... you.

Facing each other, you stood, just staring. Over head the sky grew colorful, in the fields the grass whispered in the wind. Nothing had changed. Everything had changed. Bobby dropped the hammer and grabbed for your face, and he held it, fingers digging in so tight it hurt.

"H-hey you." He said, and fell to his knees, releasing your face. You numbly touched the marks his fingers left. Bobby still looked like a man who had seen a ghost.

You called his name, and his eyes looked lost, like he hadn't heard it in a long time. He looked up at you, and you could really get a good look at him. His face was leaner, he looked sickly and wiry, but his eyes were just as you remembered. You sank down to the porch to sit with him.

"Fuck... FUCK I didn't... I- I thought ya'd forgotten all about me... uh.. uhm. Fuck! I mean, r-really! Turnin' up out of the blue like you're some kinda... ghost or whatever... WHOA man... like, ya here to return m-my, my sweatshirt? You're wearin' it, you can keep it! You look better in it anyway... heh, fuck." He rambled on and on, hands tensing and twitching as if they were moving to touch you again, just to reaffirm your existence. Did he know how glad you were to see him? Did he know that you hadn't felt right for the longest time being away?

You forgot all about the sweatshirt, the hammer he had raised with a sadistic grin. You reached out and held one of his twitching hands, and he stilled and stopped talking. There was a peace now.

It didn't seem possible for your heart to feel this full. But it was. And by god, if this wasn't the best decision you made in your life to visit your old hometown, if only just for this moment.

Bobby stood, with your hand still in his, pulling you up. He smiled at you, and you knew you still loved him, and in your deepest heart, you knew he loved you too.

But this time around, maybe you and him could love each other right.

actually, my most unpopular opinion regarding Desperate Housewives --and I think this needs to be said already!-- is that, out of all the wives, Mary Alice is CLEARLY the one with the better taste in men!

first of all, Paul is very much ride or die: he will cover up the murder committed by his wife, literally helping her bury the body, AND he will kill the woman who blackmailed her and lead to her suicide. his record as a father has some unethical breaches, but nobody is perfect! and you can't say they come from *lack* of caring 😤. AND I like that the show actually went with a storyline that made it clear the adopted child preferred his family to the biological parents.

he's also canonically brilliant with finances, has yet to pull the macho crap I've seen the others do, and has impeccable comedic timing (the macaroons moment? classic).

Karl is charming, but very much a scumbag. Orso was fun and knew his way around cleaning supplies, but by s5 I grew tired of the guy. Carlos has interesting qualities, but he's messed with Gaby's reproductive agency and that makes me want to kill him. I've sympathized with Mike at times, but by s6 with Katherine and his pride issues he ruined that, not to mention, he's pretty boring. Dave was as willing to take revenge for his previous family but he neglected Edie. Extremely long, extremely salty Kindred criticism post

Yk the thing about the Kindred storyline is that it failed at being everything it was trying to be.

It wanted to be like DeMatteis' Goblin Junior arc while simultaneously inverting every concept from that arc. Harry is a gentle soul going down a dark path and hurting not only others but himself in the process? No, he's the comically evil mastermind who would throw his friends - Gwen and MJ, who even by his own standards have done him no wrong - under the bus to get revenge! Norman is the looming influence that follows Harry and motivates him to bend himself into who his father wanted him to be? No, he's the repentant, permanently dewey eyed reformed Norman who we're supposed to feel bad for when he gets dismissed and punched around by evil Harry/his demonic clone vessels/whatever the fuck. Peter is the best friend who, despite of course feeling angry and betrayed, believes in Harry's softness and their love and wants the best for him? No, he's immediately and with zero explanation ready to believe Harry is a literal demon all of a sudden and, I quote, "through with helping him". And I don't even think this (later clumsily backpedaled on) change of mind in Peter isn't justified in-universe - Kindred did uh, dig up the skeletons of Peter's loved ones and put party city wigs on them and also smash him with a big rock a couple of times, so there's that. But that's exactly the problem - Spencer set the stage for a story that doesn't actually involve Peter, or Harry, or Norman. He created mostly completely different dynamics between mostly completely different characters, and decided to project that on the the three of them. While also periodically inserting hamfisted callbacks to the DeMatteis stories, as if he didn't just take a giant dump on everything they established.

And here's the thing, even if I did enjoy the idea of Harry forgiving Norman, or the idea of Harry returning to villainy, or the idea of Norman becoming a character we're supposed to root for - which I cannot stress enough how much I don't - the execution of all these ideas was perhaps the worst it could have possibly been. Rushed, convoluted, and hollow.

Norman's sudden goodness is the result of a supernatural, vague process that apparently "freed him of his sin", whatever that means. Like, how do you quantify sin? How can you take it out of a person when it's their moral ideology and conscious choices that make them sinful/bad/evil? What happened to Norman simply reads like brainwashing to me. He is aware he's done something really bad, but he hasn't actually learned anything, and that impression is only backed by the way he talks about his past actions. It's always "oh it's my fault you're like this Harry" and "oh I can never make it up to you" etc etc but does he ever actually recognize his mistakes for what they were? Recognize where the errors of his past convictions lie? Of course not, because Spencer has zero reading comprehension and therefore no clue about the intricacies of Norman's character, his abuse of Harry, or what motivated it, or what he demanded of his son. It's funny how these four panels from a recent What If issue managed to paint a more compelling, if brief, picture of Norman as an apologetic father than Spencer has in a year worth of comics:

Harry's sudden villainy and the way it evolved throughout this story is just a train wreck. He has not had a substantial role in the comics for a long time now, but suddenly he's back AND he's evil! Who cares about complexity? Who cares about how Harry's feeling? Why he's doing what he does other than some extremely vague idea of revenge on apparently both Peter and Norman? Even though he was neck deep in denial about Norman being a horrible father and person at the time he supposedly launched the whole (checks notes) "create clones from Norman's and Gwen's DNA to stick it to his old man AND Peter in the future" plan, which he concocted because he somehow (????) knew his father wasn't gonna stay dead, which begs the question why he was so torn up about it in the first place, and- Look I could sit here all day trying to decipher the whole Gabriel and Sarah Stacy twist. It's impressive what an inconsistent, incomprehensible mess it is considering it was only introduced two issues ago. ASM 74 sort of hinted that Harry was being piloted by Mephisto when he created the clones so they could later become his hellish lackeys? I uhm, think? It's impossible to tell because no part of that retcon makes any sense to begin with. It doesn’t want to make sense because it was written - most likely on a whim - with the sole intent to garner good will for undoing Sins Past. Harry, for this entire arc, was not a character but merely a tool to bait us with an OMD reversal and ultimately do a Sins Past one. And of course, there's the fact that post OMD Harry - one of the only good things to come out of OMD in the first place - was just a clone all along, putting into question how valid all the amazing and inspiring development he went through since his revival was. Thanks a lot.

Lastly, I don't think I have to say how insulting it is to not just use Harry's character as a cheap plot device, but eventually force him to sacrifice his life for the very man who ruined it in every way. The man who abused him since birth, betrayed him on every level, attacked and murdered so many people Harry loves, including almost getting Harry's son killed. Why? Because he’s had a suspicious sudden onset of goodness that Harry has no context for? Norman and clone!Harry have not even interacted for this entire arc, but the sole act of Norman offering himself up to the rabid Kindred twins makes Harry instantly forgive everything he’s ever done. There was no build up to this whatsoever. It’s bad writing. And I don't think the abuse apologism implications of all this are intentional, I think Spencer just thought up the groundbreakingly subversive concept of "what if Norman good and Harry bad" and ran with that. But those implications are there nonetheless, because Harry and Norman's relationship has pretty much always been about abuse, about being mistreated by your parents, about not feeling good enough for them and eventually realizing that you were wronged and you don't owe them anything.

Spencer had Harry, a man who fought for years to rise to his best, most authentic self and fully turn his back on Norman and his legacy, die to save the father who never valued him for that self. And to add insult to injury, paralleled that with Harry dying after saving his best friend who loved him unconditionally. The latter mentioned death being a direct consequence of the actions Harry took to fit the expectations said abusive father had drilled into his head. I feel like that ending explains everything about this plotline.

Since rewatching the guardian drama after reading the novel has made me mad about how bad and good both of them are I am Obligated to write out a list of what I think the perfect merger btw both versions of canon are. This will be in list format otherwise I’ll end up writing like 6k words again. 

TLDR: the genre stays as supernatural from the novel and not Sci fi, bc that was rlly not fleshed out well. Shen Wei is a ghost king, and all the dixingren are ghosts or demons like originally intended. The ghost race naturally exists and wasn't born from kunluns shoulder fire or anything. They just exist separate from humans. Not all ghosts are former humans, some people are just born as ghosts, like Shen Wei. Zhao Yunlan has the guardian whip and all the cool stuff that comes with the Guardian order.  Overall, i’d keep the novel’s plot and relationship progression and ending without the backstory. Instead the backstory is a merger of both canons. From the drama I’d keep the characterization and themes as well as like half the extra cases and omit the other half. 

I’ll be elaborating much further on my ideal backstory and other stuff under the cut bc the rest is 1.5k and I don’t wanna clog the dash 

Okay SO In my ideal backstory there are two timelines just like the drama but the mythology of the book. The god Kunlun is actually zyl that went back in time and became a god. But the one that went back isn’t the current Zhao Yunlan. There has to be an original timeline where the god Kunlun never existed. Thus the great seal nor the separation of the three realms don’t exist either. Zhao Yunlan must go back in time to become a god, meet Shen Wei in the past, and create the current timeline where the separation exists but isn’t perfect. The current timeline is the one that the majority of the series takes place in.

In the original timeline, Zhao Yunlan is just some dude living in a world where ghosts, fairies, and all other beings just live in a giant free for all and it's kinda just a mess. 

Like there’s government in modern context and all and all races live with each other but there's constant tension. ZYL works at some equivalent of the SID (same staff and side characters, but novel vers. Lin Jing is a monk, CSZ a zombie, etc) to protect people and all that and their job is rather hard. One day encounters the thousands year old ghost king Wei (who isnt shen wei yet bc zyl gave him that name in the future) who works alone as like a rouge cultivator of sorts. He lives on the surface undercover as a professor still bc he’s trying to not catch Yezun’s attention but does all the stuff he normally does as Heipaoshi. The two ally together for a case and bc they both have the same goals of getting all races to live in peace. At current, there are forces working together to decimate the human race, all lead by Yezun

As they work together they become closer and all that. Shen Wei tells him about how he was unable to prevent the great war 5 thousand years ago and neither could the gods so  he’s spent the past 5 thousand years trying to make up for it. As they search for ways to stop Yezun, they gather the 4 hallows and learn how to use them to manipulate time so ZYL can go into the past and stop the great war and separate the three realms (living, dead, ghost).  Shen Wei wants to go back with him but he can’t because he was alive all those years ago so if he goes back it will create a paradox. ZYL promises he’ll find Shen Wei in the past and create a timeline where they could be together in peace (that is the current timeline)

When goes back he becomes the god kunlun because there needed to be a new god born at the time to prevent the war.  Also this time traveller looked promising to Nuwa, Fuxi, and Shennong. And I know in the guardian universe gods are usually born and ppl don’t become gods. EXCEPT this can happen when a god passes on smth from their body onto them bc that did happen in the novel with Kunlun making shen wei a demigod. And since fu you and ma gui are supposed to be gods Nu Wa and Fuxi I think that when they die, they should make ZYL a god and that's how this stuff happens.

So like ZYL explains to the gods the time he came from and how he wants to save everything and they make him a god and he works to save everything just like he did in the drama but this time with the novel plotline. During this time he meets young Shen Wei (he’s still like a hundred or so years old) and they get close and all the stuff from the backstory happens. He gives him his name, all that good stuff. The entire time doesn’t let him know that he’s from the future or that his real name is ZYL. He just poses as kunlun. 

The two of them alongside the other gods (who still die at the times they do in the novel) work together to end the war and establish the great seal and set up the cycle of reincarnation, per the current timeline. Although the seal and cycle of reincarnation aren’t perfect. Gods can’t reincarnate, and ghosts still don’t have souls. And just like the novel, doing all of this kills ZYL bc it takes a lot of energy to create the seal even though it isn’t perfect.

Shen Wei of course doesn’t want ZYL to die and zyl says it's alright because he fixed the timeline so there must One day they will meet again and ZYL reveals the truth about the timeline to shen wei before he dies. This becomes the promise that Shen Wei mentions to meet again. Before he dies, ZYL gives him the shoulder fire as a memento ( i still like the candy wrapper necklace deal but i’ll take this too. Maybe both.. The pendant is still just rlly cool.. Gay ppl)

Shen Wei knows gods can’t enter the cycle of reincarnation and still makes the deal with Shennong to strip Kunlun of his godhood and let him reincarnate. This sets us into the novel timeline where isn’t allowed to meet any of zyl’s reincarnations before he becomes zyl otherwise he will die and also fuck up the timeline. The same 5 thousand years of pining still ensue bc Gay Ppl and i love making Shen Wei suffer but he doesn’t have the shrine room thing bc i think thats weird and yea.. Bad. 

In the meantime Shen Wei does a lot of things mostly just protecting the great seal and working for Hell to keep the peace but still does other stuff. He still watches out for ZYL’s reincarnations but doesn’t do much besides make sure they don’t die a premature death. They meet again finally at the beginning of the series and the timeline resumes like canon. And that's my master plan that merges both drama logic and novel logic while making a much better timeline. (I hope that makes some sense)

Da Qing is still Kunlun’s pet cat and important. Novel backstory applies to him. And I already mentioned him kinda but as for Yezun (Gui Mian in the novel) his deal is similar as in the drama but just a ghost. And he is a big player in the great war, he thought Shen Wei abandoned him as a kid but they were just separated. Shen Wei doesn’t know it's him till the end of the war and couldn’t stop him in the OG timeline and vows to bring him to justice and make amends. Shen Wei continuously tries to explain things to him but he just won’t listen and is imprisoned in hell bc yk… war criminal stuff and yeah he’s the main antagonist trying to break the great seal bc he’s still made about the past. Idk. Yezun wasn’t well written in the novel OR the drama so like… honestly he just needs to be completely rewritten and I don’t care enough about that. He can just be a weak villain idk

the drama characterization stays the same for everyone else bc found family go brr. However for Lao Chu i… hmm… i think he should still be a zombie but the reason he killed someone should be related to his brother. I like that addition and then shen wei realized his sentence was unjust and exempted him. i like that storyline merger. bc the brother thing and him admiring Heipaoshi was drama only. in the novel lao chu just murdered some kid for a rlly whatever reason.

uhhh in terms of the cases… id make adjustments to most of them. i think the li qian case should be like the drama bc the novel just had her as a murderer and it was boring. 

For the mountain river awl one was fine… novel version was funnier and more interesting action wise tbh… rip zyl and his exorbitant flirting. uhhh the whole reveal that shen wei was the soul reaper thing was kinda… ehh in the novel but i did love the comedy of afterwards Shen Wei pretending he went into cardiac arrest when he actually just… has no pulse bc he's a ghost. 

ID KEEP THE WORTH IT SCENE AND RAIN SCENE… THOSE FUCK SO HARD… I love the drama for adding those every damn day. the novel version of zyl losing his sight sucked and was sooo boring.  Keep the drama version on that.

also id keep dr. cheng. i'm very pro dr. cheng and her friendship with shen wei it adds so much to his character imo. keep the fruit seller man and his wife for the merit brush..omg it adds SO MUCH the way the drama did it.. like the drams build up with the novels pace of that arc.. mwah. it felt like it dragged a bit in the drama but if it went faster and without the hospital ep and with sha ya (sorry sha ya) that would've been so good. tho keep novel version of da qings memory loss and lao li. that was rlly impactful.

id say keep some of the cases like the mirror one, the eyes doctor one, etc. just to like.. yk have more to fill in general.. novel pacing but drama characterization without the bs that wasn't fully realized. and novel ending ofc. And that’s it!!

I hope most of this makes some amount of sense  but it probably doesn’t. In my head it all tracks but like ik most of u don’t know anything about the novel so this sounds like gibberish. Also I know this would literally never happen but this is MY ideal merger of the two canons that I feel compelled to expand on for some reason. Anyways, as io said,, we need to rebuild guardian. Like literally let me and the mutuals write Guardian and it will be 500 times better.

Along w Nubbins I feel like that would be just a fantastic little trio of hellspawn trash buddies!!!! I'd also love to see him with Thomas Hewitt- they're from completely different kinds of aesthetic and thematic worlds, but I feel like Tommy would do well to hear some of the encouragement that Chop Top gives Bubba !!! :) maybe Billy Lenz too. I feel like Chop Top could keep him busy chasing rats together.

What kind of fic I’d write about them: oh boy I'd like to just completely break into the movie right vault and steal the rights to tcm & tcm 2 so i could just fully write a complete full life storyline illustrated book about Chop Top & the rest of the Sawyers. But on smaller scale, I would definetly love to explore their younger years, growing up, their relationship w their parents, etc. I'd particularly like to explore Chop Tops relationship w pop culture. I'd also just like to write a complete self ship mess where I'm a messy mf who he's trying to court but yk 😎

What are your top 5 favorite shows that are still currently airing.

oof, this is a tough one.  Mainly because I’m only watching one show that’s still currently airing.  I have a hard time starting new things and making sure I commit to them, so most of the ones I really like have already ended.  XD  I only watch one that’s currently airing, so that’ll go to number 1.  The rest have already ended, but they hold special spaces in my heart.

1)  Boku No Hero Academia:  I am just really enjoying this one!  Izuku is absolutely heartwarming, and the supporting cast all have their individual personalities that we’ve gotten to get to know.  That goes for the main age group--all the teenagers--but also for the adults.  I mean, really, I haven’t seen so many adults get picked apart and given actual personalities since FMAB!  The villains are also really interesting, and there’s literally so much in this universe to pick on, mess with, tear apart, and put back together!  I’m just really loving it!  *^_^*

2)  Phineas and Ferb:  I watched this mostly as it aired, and I just really enjoyed watching and reacting to such a fun show!  The songs were catchy, the storyline was never super convoluted, and the antics were all hilarious and adorable.  I definitely got most of my shipping tendencies from this show, and it was just such a cute and wholesome addition to my life.  I will still, to this day, go in search of PnF music to jam out to, and I’m sure I’ll end up rewatching some of those episodes sooner or later just for a taste of good fun.  *^_^*

3)  Steven Universe:  I got into this one because a friend suggested we watch it together, and I am so happy she did.  There are songs in this show like PnF, but I felt like there was a lot of growing to be done.  I relisten to songs all the time depending on what mood I”m in, and there are some scenes I just like watching over and over again.  There isn’t a lot I see with that level of rewatch value, but SU did such a great job that I honestly enjoy rewatching Ruby and Sapphire talk things out and Pearl and Amethyst talk things out and Steven and Bismuth talk things out.  (They do a lot of that and I loved it. XD)  I love how they handle growth in the show, and I just found it really sweet.  And, btw, Connie is so, so, so awesome!

4)  Ghost Hunt:  This one’s old enough that people looking for something new to watch may find it here.  Made in 2007 with a fanbase that’s still kicking, Ghost Hunt follows Mai as she gets roped into working for a psychic agency.  She and her friends take on cases where the dead still have stuff to say and do, and each of them has a gift to contribute to help them reach their goals.  ...yk, if you actually watch this one, you’re gonna wonder how on earth I pitched this anime as a ‘power of friendship’ thing when there are so many deaths, mysteries, and even blood to wade through.  XD  (not as much as more modern animes, I’m sure, but this was a lot for me and I loved it)

5)  Soul Eater:  Don’t judge me!!  I am a sucker for good friends-to-lovers and this one stays squarely in the friends category in the anime while teasing us to high heaven with our ship I swear!!  But the opener kicks tail end, the characters all are distinct from one another in a way that makes each of them fun and ridiculous, and I just really enjoyed their shenanigans.  They’re all so stupid in the best way, I swear.  XD

Med Series Rewatch (#12)

S3 E12: Born This Way.

Episode description: Dr. Manning and Dr. Choi are faced with a tough decision.

Literally when are they not.

Okay, last episode ended with the first Ava/Connor kiss, so this episode should be a rollercoaster of emotions.

let’s get into it.

- okay, already we’re starting in connor’s apartment, so cue ava walking in bc they slept together?

- i think its hilarious that her casual clothing is.. a flannel. like lmao idk

- it is so unbelievably funny and stupid to have a one night stand with someone you work closely with. i mean come on

- never forget that dr. ava bekker has a fish tank

- this is exhausting. the tentative back and forth is so fucking exhausting

- another bit of evidence. ava is never not confident, and especially not to this extent, and she never follows connor’s lead. so, the fact that she is standing back and waiting for him to make the decision? stupid.

- it screams that she is having a moment of anxiety, which is why she isn’t up to make the decisions in the exchange.

-to be clear: what i’m claiming here is that the only reason ava actually got with connor was bc she was having a moment of anxiety because he was the only person she had built a relationship with after living in this city for six months.

- when connor says that he has plans you can see her fold in on herself. this stems from a place of anxiety

- remember when they did surgery on the panda? that’s when the show peaked

- ava in her lab coat will never not get me. especially with the gloves, running towards a patient (very hot)

- connor still looks kinda looks like a mess but ava is immaculate here like what dude out of your league

- ava asking the family questions (ik this is standard doctor stuff but showing worry, interest, all that jazz)

- okay, see here! here! ava calls connor out, saying that his procedure is too invasive. before, ava’s procedures where invasive, which everyone used as evidence to her being super cold, but now, we see that she purely does what she deems best for the patient at hand

- also, once again, the concern ava feels. you can hear it in her voice. we forget this part of her way too often

- the smile on ava’s face when she gives the family good news. god wept

- and then more concern when connor tells her they need to put him on ecmo

- the reason that ava is frustrated that connor didn’t go with her decision for their patient care is because she truly believes that if they don’t go with her treatment, he will die. don’t make it anything different. don’t argue she’s frustrated because he’s not listening to her. don’t make it anything about their relationship. she puts their patients care first and foremost

- there’s a stark shift in her demeanor when in the room with the parents vs. her alone with connor. in the room, you can see she’s stewing. she’s sucking on her teeth, she’s holding her emotions. she has control, she’s a professional. out of the room, she has full reign to be as mad with connor as she wants, which she does.

-AVA RAN INTO THE ROOM AGAIN WITH THE LAB COAT AND GLOVES AND IDK IT JUST HAS ME FEELING SOME KINDA WAY

- the way ava acknowledges everyone in the room (the nurse just informed them that the drug was running, ava nodded. just a little thing but yk)

- ava shaking her head at this sad, sad man (connor, who is floundering for a solution and misplacing his anger)

- their entire relationship is misplaced anger

- the fact that the last shot of the scene has connor in the foreground looking over the bed and ava watching from the door but ava is the one in focus - some cool cinematography points

- IS THIS THE EPISODE WHERE MAGGIE GOES TO JAIL

- med really went all over the place

- JUST THE AMOUNT OF CONCERN ON AVA’S FACE. im gonna say it again. look me in the eyes and tell this women is a psychopath. the med writers are fucking insane

- and when the parents ask ava if she disagreed with connor’s treatment decision, she has every opportunity (and right, frankly) to throw him under the bus and undermine him. but still, she says “it’s a complicated situation.” like. she never ever makes it personal, or loses her head. especially not to a patient. and she doesn’t have to defend connor. he’s made a lot of mistakes, and taken it out on her a bunch of times. yet she’s still nice to him, when he’s not even in the room

- it’s insane

- this is also the legendary scene where she comforts the family. there’s not a lot that i haven’t already said. this is the scene that most exemplifies ava’s humanity, the way she seems to feel, at least residually, what these parents are going through (since she obviously hasn’t gone through anything like this herself [unless.]). the way she kneels down, and gets on the family’s personal level.

- I... okay listen. I absolutely HATE the parallel they pull her between the line “I believe whenever you do something out of love, it can never really be wrong” and connor. especially because they show him when she says that line. and yeah, there’s obviously a connection that can be drawn between the meaning of that line and her sociopathic behavior in s4 and s5.

- it honestly feels like when writing s4, the writers hit so much of a wall they just googled the most ‘iconic’ ava moments and thought ‘how can i use these in the worst way possible?’ That’s honestly probably what they did (ava’s first interaction with connor - ‘you better watch yourself,’ this moment). There is no nuance to her character in s4. it is astoundingly terrible.

- lets move on

- THE WAY CONNOR LOOKS AT AVA HER MAKES ME FUCKING SCARED. HE HAS NO EMOTION ON HIS FACE. I know that we’ve been screen capping ava throughout this series but can someone find pictures of connor looking at ava bc, i need yall to remember how weird he looks

- like, no shade to connor, but just the emotion is undecipherable, but it is in no way a good one

- ava getting concerned (and looking slightly embarrassed) when she sees connor watching her by the door. obviously yeah she’s gonna feel weird you just caught her in a very uncharacteristic moment, outwardly expressing comfort. fucking back off

- i am so fucking protective of her and i demand he no longer look at her. it’s banned

- sam abrams looking at sarah’s dad’s head ct and asking if he’s a criminal. oh boy 

- from a writer’s perspective, the storyline with sarah’s dad is actually pretty good

- ava ran into the room with gloves and lab coat again, if anybody wanted to know

- for the record, want it to be noted, ava was the one who realized that it was an issue with the machine again, so you could say she fixed connor’s mistake, again. so.

- connor making a big deal about handing the reins over to ava (if he really was selfless he wouldn’t have made a whole big thing, he still has an enormous hero complex)

- handing off control was very hard for him. boo hoo get some fucking humility I think they sell it at walgreens

- sarah fucking walking across the ed like she’s going to war. dramatic

- med really said pedophiles deserve rights with this ep huh

- anyway

- the way ava smiles

- the way she smiles when she turns him down. CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT? SHE TURNED HIM DOWN. in the aspect of the story i cannot remember why she turned him down, but hey, i’m happy

- and it only further proves my story that the hook up came from a place of anxiety, and this is her realizing how silly that decision was. and her smiling was her laughing at herself for making such a stupid decision

- ALSO. LET’S TALK ABOUT THE FACT THAT THIS DECISION, THE DECISION TO TURN HIM DOWN, HAPPENED IN THE SAME EPISODE WHERE SHE SAID ‘IF YOU DO SOMETHING FOR LOVE, IT’S NEVER REALLY WRONG’

- like she literally says ‘last night was a mistake.’

- honestly, it’s fucking hilarious. connor deserves nothing

- and the confusion on his face when she walks away. hilarious

- if you wanted to take this the reesker route you could argue that the idea of ‘a decision of love’ was ava coming to terms with her slight little crush, though i don’t know how clean it would be if you argue that she panicked and told herself those were feelings meant for connor. idk, i’ll have to think about it further

- watching sarah let herself be betrayed by both herself and the people around in the story surrounding her dad will never not be hard to watch

This was a very good episode, character wise, for all the reasons stated above. It just hammers home the point of how strong a character Ava was. Key word, of course, being ‘was’. My conclusion over the last two episodes is that this specific sexual encounter with Connor was born out of a moment of anxiety from Ava. I suggest that over that last few weeks or days she has been experiencing some amount of anxiety out of having been living in Chicago for six months and only having one interpersonal relationship. So, that idea kind of built where she told herself the reason she only had one relationship was because she was in love with him. Then. after going through the story with this kid and comforting his parents, she realizes that she never actually loved Connor and maybe has a thing for someone else. I’m glad that I keep coming up with more ideas for this character, I was afraid the initial theory was somewhat of a one-off, but this only proves the idea of the complexity to Ava’s character.

I’m sure it’ll get worse from here, though.
