Child has many small and large parts with her inspiration, such as from myself, history and TV shows I have watched during the time I made her. So I will separate the entire thing into multiple parts.

Warning: historical moments that may not be comfortable to read, military stuff, childhood indoctrination and abuse and spoilers for The apocathary diaries and Demon slayer season 2. Although it's not THAT much on spoilers i just wanna be safe :P.

2. Her role.

Child is a wanderer, yes, but her main role is a helper. This is because of one specific line from dream bbq

Hoarder Alex calls Ena a "courtesan." Yes, this is most likely just him calling her a whore in a polite way, but I recognized the word from a show I watched: demon slayer. When I watched it and got to season 2, I was super interested in the history of courtesans, and in addition: kamuros

Child is based on two historical roles: a kamuro, and a lady in waiting.

Both of those would wait hand and foot for their mistress, running errands and having loyalty.

Kamuros would call the courtesans in charge of them "big sister." They would run errands for their big sister, and she would take care of them in turn. Kamuros would find clients for their big sisters, and were quite cunning when it came to getting information. They were considered the eyes and ears of the red light district, they gossiped and joked with people, and would spy on clients to make sure he wasn't seeing another courtesan.

Many kamuro were eager to grow up and become a courtesan, associating the role with beauty and being loved and wealthy. These girls were obsessed with the idea of being beautiful, and practically indoctrinated into wanting the glamour of their big sisters, not realizing, or maybe not acknowledging the horrific parts of being a courtesan.

Ladies in waiting were also to serve their mistress, although they tended to be older and have different responsibilities (less cleaning, more information gathering and advice giving)

Child's entire role, similar to how Bbq Ena is obsessed with jobs and working, is serving. She feels it's instinct to listen to authority, to wait on others and help in any way she can. It's uncomfortable for her when people try and coddle her, she NEEDS to do something. It's why she lives in trash, so she can destroy it and then clean it all over again.

If she isn't working, helping and aiding then she feels like something is dreadfully WRONG.

Another thing is cabin boys. Cabin boys were young boys or men who did roles similar to kamuros, they cooked, cleaned and ran errands on the ship

2. Personalities.

Child has two main personalities: guilty and giddy. Giddy is easy to say, as she was simply based on the zenos from dragon ball super

While guilty? That's a whole rollercoaster.

Guilty is based on myself as a child, and specifically a certain scene from demon slayer (I tried to find a video, but YouTube took it all down, so I just have pictures)

Warabihime, or daki, treats her kamuros horribly. In this scene, she had told her kamuro to clean her room, yet when she came back, it wasn't clean. She reacted violently, yelling at the child and hurting her.

This made me think back on how I was a child, and how I reacted when things like this happened. And so- that's how Child's guilty side was decided on. She becomes terrified and the giddy side of her face melts off as she cries and begs for forgiveness. She's loud, terrified and frantic. She CANT calm down no matter how much people try to make her do so, she flails around like a dying fish and feels like the world is ending: even if it's something small.

3. Design

I based child's design on Japanese middle schoolers uniforms, and also sailors.

Sailors are known to have cabin boys, which is one of her role inspirations so I don't think I need to elaborate again lol.

The Japanese students in middle school tend to wear sailor uniform styles. Her hair is based on a yokai watch character lol

Her socks are based on how many young girls in Japan wear those, and they tend to be associated with rebellious young girls going against the rules (which connects to child's guilty personality, as she does not WANT to break the rules)

4. Symbolism

Ooooooooh it's here. Like I said in a previous post, child is also mainly based on childhood indoctrination (why the kamuro inspo works as these young kids were practically manipulated too), specifically in military. Many kids in my country are manipulated into believing the military is either their only option, or something that was glorious.

The gun and propaganda posters are based on this, how she's been manipulated in her backstory and is basically a victim of brainwashing. Many kids who idolize the military through video games and movies are only seeing the badassery of military, getting a cool call sign, lots of awards and saving the country. Yet these young children don't understand the horror of military and war, they don't see it until it's too late. In WW1, many young men lied about their age to join the military because they believed it was an adventure, only to find out how traumatizing it is to kill another human.

DANDADAN analysis main post!

If you love Dandadan, this blog is for you!

If you love romcom anime, you are interested in occult phenomena - such as spirits/yokais and aliens/astrology - mysteries in general, this Autumn 2024 anime, Dandadan, is for you! This anime is an adaptation from the manga of the same name, whose author is Tatsu Yukinobu, the one working as an assisstant for the anime/manga Chainsaw Man, by Fujimoto Tatsuki.

[WARNING!] R17+

A story about an out-going girl named Ayase Momo, who believes in spirits & ghosts, and a great fan of Takakura Ken, a famous actor, befriends with a once nerdy, but lonely boy named Takakura Ken (later Momo calls him by Okarun), who believes in aliens. When they first met, things didn't seem positive. Hell, they even argued & challenged to go to places that has rumors whether aliens or ghosts are real, and whoever found either will make the other one an underling.

Okarun was cursed by a spirit named Turbo Granny, and eventually, he lost his b@lls/kintama (Japanese for Golden ball), but he gains Granny's super speed; while Momo was abducted by aliens who called themselves as the Serpoians/Serpos, but luckily, she unlocked her supernatural inner power and escaped successfully.

They now worked together to help Okarun find his kintama back and with the help of their friends, regardless of encountering many spiritual situation, alien invasion...

Genazo cheat sheet ROUND 2!

I received questions about the movie here and on twitter, so after mostly focusing on the script in this first post, let's go for a second round of "taking a deeper look into Gegege no Nazo"!

Under the cut will be a collection of notes about the context around the movie, comments on specific scenes, and such. This time there's no effort to follow the movie chronologically, sorry. I also wanted to talk about each of the Ryuga individually, and list trivia and easter eggs, but the post became too long and disjointed, so this will be for, well, round 3.

I still hope it will answer interrogations you might have had, and help you enjoy the movie more!

Of course, there will be spoilers for the movie under the cut.

"Gege- !"

Upon seeing the man Osada's henchmen have captured, young Nezumi exclaims "Gege-!" before being pulled back. Remembering this, Mizuki decides to call that man "ゲゲ郎", "Gegero" : basically that same "gege" sound with a common kanji put at the end of male names (the same "ro" as in "Kitaro"), in an attempt to form, well, something that sounds like a male name.

Initially, the manga featuring Kitaro was called "Hakaba Kitaro", taking after the similarly named kamishibai story (albeit with a different spelling), then "Hakaba no Kitaro". Shortly before the start of its anime adaptation, the manga's name has been changed again to "Gegege no Kitaro", in an effort to sound less ominous and children-friendly ; it also marks a shift in Kitaro's character, fighting for peace between humans and yokai. In universe, "ge ge ge" is the sound of bugs, animals, and nature as a whole singing a song of praise for Kitaro at the end of every story :

Outside of the story, "Gegege" is inspired from Mizuki Shigeru's own childhood, when he couldn't pronounce his name properly and it'd come out as "gege" or "gegeru".

And now in Genazo, Kitaro's fathers are respectively named "Mizuki" and "Gegero"!

The Birth of Kitaro

It's the name of the movie, of course : "The Birth of Kitaro : Mystery of Gegege", but also the first chapter of the rental manga, which went through multiple remakes through the years.

The ending credits of Genazo feature illustrations that are mostly taken from said chapter.

The post-credit scene, too, matches the original story, however with one crucial change ; Mizuki has a flashback of Gegero in front of cherry blossoms (a memory that probably subsisted because it was when Gegero put the chanchanko on Mizuki's shoulders?), causing Kitaro's fate to be different from his manga counterpart.

Speaking of crucial change, the scene at the beginning of Genazo when Mizuki leaves his office desk to meet with the blood bank's president has been noted as an extremely important moment which separates the Hakaba Kitaro timeline and the 2018 Gegege no Kitaro timeline.

Look closely, and you'll notice there are two shadows in this scene: one for the Mizuki who decided to head for Nagura Village, and another for the Mizuki who didn't.

The Blood Bank

This is a Vast topic that I will clumsily summarize here, but I think it's an important point to have in mind when watching Genazo (as well as when reading the Birth of Kitaro stories and the Bloodsucker-tree story as well)

Blood donations were not commonplace at all in post-war Japan, and "blood banks" were a for-profit business : people came to sell their blood, and that blood was sold to hospitals. This led notably to a population affected by precarity regularly coming to such banks, sometimes multiple times a day, to sell their blood at the cost of their health and often their own life.

In this scene, the crowd here are people waiting to sell their blood.

Of course, in Genazo it parallels with the Blood Cherry Blossom : the blood of the Ghost Tribe is drawn to produce "M", the secret of the Ryuga's large wealth. But wealthy bloodsuckers target humans as well - as Mizuki says himself, anywhere, everywhere, the weak is exploited. But he was part of that exploitation, and that's a price he will eventually have to pay.

The situation in Genazo is slightly recontextualized, as the original story has Kitaro's mother selling her blood to buy medicine for her and her husband's sickness :

The horror lies in the then real fear of the sick contaminating blood supplies : in this story, patients contaminated by Ghost Tribe blood become ghosts themselves.

I recommend reading this article about the history of Japan's sold blood and how it relates to Shigeru Mizuki's works for a much better and deeper understanding of the topic!

"Diving into the underground like moles, the once insignificant Ghost Tribe..."

Otome's line finds its origin, again, in the original Birth of Kitaro. The scene where Gegero explains to Mizuki the history of the Ghost Tribe also uses visuals from the manga.

"You can't see things just by trying to see them with your eyes."

"It actually helps to cover one eye.", says Gegero.

I mentioned before how this line reminds Seki of "The Little Prince". This philosophy permeates Gegege no Kitaro as a work, and seems to be found first in "Nonnonba to Ore" :

There's a repeating motif involving the left eye in Gegege no Nazo, appearing to be covered (Gegero's), wounded (Mizuki's), or missing (Kitaro's). Moreover, the "curse" of the Kyokotsu targets the left eye of all its victims, and Sayo has a beauty mark under her left eye.

It's by seeing less that the invisible becomes visible ; and it's through his scarred left eye that Mizuki becomes able to see the supernatural.

After losing his memory, he is portrayed with his left eye obscured in the ending credits:

Why does Mizuki have white hair / become amnesic at the end of the movie?

I wanted to reply to this in the form of an ask but I got this multiple times over twitter on tumblr so I'll put it here.

It seems Mizuki suffered the same fate as Kozo : his memory wiped and his hair whitened after being attacked by the Kyokotsu. Gegero specifically puts the Chanchanko on Mizuki before telling him to leave the village : "As long as you wear this, you won't lose your mind". But later, Mizuki chose to make Gegero's wife wear it, covering her stomach, so he ended up affected by the Kyokotsu after all. Though the damage doesn't seem as severe as Kozo's - he vaguely remembers being with a woman, in the credits seems to have kept his sanity, and in the post credit kept a vague memory of Gegero in front of the cherry blossoms.

A bit off topic, but did you notice the soldier's helmet next to Mizuki in this scene? It disappears after a few frames like a ghostly apparition...^^ There are actually a lot of hidden ghosts and yokai hidden in the movie, so keep your eyes open to spot them...! or close an eye, I'm not sure.

Jizo statues

Statues of Ojizo-san, or just Jizo, appear not only in the movie but alongside Kitaro in one of the movie posters. They carry different meanings and offer many kinds of protection, but in Japan it is mostly associated with the belief that Jizo protects children, alive or dead, comforting the latter on the bank of Sanzu river. They are often dressed up with bibs, often red as it is believed to ward off evil.

Ghost Tribe powers

Gegero displaying multiple superpowers came as a surprise for watchers whose entry point into this franchise was Genazo. They are all powers Kitaro is seen using in the TV anime, albeit played a bit differently.

At the end of the movie, when the story comes back to present time, it's through an action scene where Kitaro's musical theme is playing as he shouts his signature moves' names - it does a great job suddenly shifting the movie back to the battle shonen genre associated with Gegege no Kitaro TV anime.

While Kitaro, the brave shonen protagonist that he is, likes to shout his moves names, Gegero stays silent (how I'd love to hear him shout "Remokon Geta!", though...).

So on top of oustanding endurance and agility, we have tensile hair (Kitaro uses as "Hair Needles"), flying geta sandals ("Remote-controlled geta"), electricity discharge ("Internal Electricity"), and of course, the spirit hair bracelet for Gegero that becomes part of the spirit hair Chanchanko vest for Kitaro. Ghost Tribe are displayed showing many more powers throughout the franchise, but this is all we see in Genazo...!

incarnations — a wind breaker au

The Incarnations AU takes place in a universe where each organization (Bōfūrin, Shishitoren, etc.) has an incarnated patron god watching over them and defending them from yokai-related threats.

This project was born from me imagining what the organizations would look like as humans, then it turned to “what if gods?”, and now we’re here! As much as I want to be, I’m not really a creative writer, much less a good one, so a lot of the information presented will be done through outlines, snippets, and illustrations. Everything related to this AU will be linked here along with appropriate tags for each post for any viewers to just skim through!

One Piece Chapter 1110 - Initial Thoughts

FINALLY

The five have landed, and TCB had the audacity to not translate until late Friday, making us wait so long, but we're finally here, so let's not waste any more time.

Spoilers for the Chapter, Support the Official Release too

Our cover story is a Yamato story, he's off to travel Wano just as Oden did, which he tells Momonosuke in this cover. Given the name, I'd expect that he may cross paths with Onimaru since it'll involve an Inari shrine

How ominous a title to have with 'Planetfall' too

The buster call watches on as it notices the similar effects to Saturn's arrival, Bluegrass seems particularly disturbed

The giants sense it too, with Bonney and Franky left to worry about the others

Vegapunk's broadcast involved showing off 'Vega-Coffee', which essentially is something that turns water into coffee

That ad break lasted 3 minutes, so there's still 7 minutes left

Marejois meanwhile is empty though, only the summoning circle appears

But Vegapunk is starting anyway, with the threat that the broadcast could be intercepted it's better to hasten

And finally we got the Gorosei fruits and it all seems to be Zoans, mainly Yokai

Saturn of course is the Gyuki, as we suspected from the design

Marcus Mars is an Itsumade, the 'Eerie bird'. According to research "Saw-like beak" and "talons as sharp as swords"

Topman Warcury is a Houki, not much info on it but that it's a Four Tusked Boar from China

Arguably the most badass design is Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, the Bakotsu. The skeletal horse is a vengeful spirit seeking revenge for being burned to death

And finally Shepherd Ju Peter, the only non-Yokai is a Sandworm. Because Oda definitely watched Dune recently

As Luffy stands down the Five Elder Planets, Sanji rushes off with Vegapunk's corpse ready to warn Nami and the others

V. Nusjuro is first to make a move, turning into a Centaur-like hybrid form as he lays waste to the Mark III pacifista surrounding the island

He was so quick that no Marine saw it either, only catching a faint image of a horse

Not even damaged, partially frozen, their 'neural circuitry' was frozen so he may've cut into their souls

I wonder if this could be a level Brook can attain

Mars is also on the move, but he's going up high

Sanji contacts Nami, telling them to get out now, soon enough Mars charges into the barrier

Luffy continues to dodge on the back foot against Saturn with Ju Peter and Warcury on the outskirts, but he notices that Ju Peter is burrowing

Usopp contacts Sanji, they're ready to leave but Zoro and Jinbe aren't here

The Sunny is safe and sound, but despite Brook's calmness he's getting his shins kicked by Lilith, who reminds him that the Sunny's only safe because of Usopp's bamboo shoots

Jinbe makes his way to Zoro, being within eyeshot

Zoro meanwhile finds himself slightly disarmed by Lucci, who taunts Zoro over his curiosity over the new sources of strong Haki

As Jinbe notes that they're still fighting, Sanji makes an off-comment, calling him a burden

Zoro has been ACTIVATED

Catching the sword that was disarmed, Zoro uses Santoryu against Lucci's leopard spots for the quick KO

The Chapter Notes point out that he references Hahava, the coldest hell of Buddhism

Plot demanded Zoro finish late, so finally Zoro has finished

Luffy meanwhile has been caught lacking, as the Sandworm comes for a bite

Dorry and Brogy have arrived though, much like they did in Little Garden (well one of them) they cut the gullet before Luffy can be swallowed

Luffy is glad to see some old friends, but now the numbers are a little more even

Well the Gorosei are definitely not weaklings

Terrifying creatures all in their own rights, they definitely set themselves up as powerful foes. Makes you wonder though what Imu could be if this is the base line huh?

There seems to be a bit more lines to draw this time around; with V. Nusjuro circling the island down below he may find himself crossing the Giants' ships, meaning Franky, Bonney, Atlas and maybe Sanji, Oimo and Kashii will likely have to confront him. Up above we have Mars looking to break through to the Labophase, which he likely will, leading to the crew having to find an opening there; Nami, Usopp, Zoro, Chopper, Robin, Jinbe and Brook plus Lilith is a greater numbers advantage, but Mars may also use the Seraphim if he's wily, does not look good for the CP agents, York and Kaku though, hope the first and latter got out safe.

Which leaves Luffy and the giants facing down Saturn, Ju Peter (I doubt he's dead) and Warcury. I could sadly see the captains not making it out, or holding off 3 so to get Luffy out. Let's not forget that Kizaru can always pull himself back into it (I hope Sentomaru also escaped). Plus there's still the matter of Vegapunk's broadcast itself.

It's not gonna be clean or pretty, but thinks are gonna get chaotic in the best and the worst way.

Also I had a question this time but feel free to ignore or leave it if it'd be spoilers or something. In clipped wings will they find out and get revenge on the (presumably witch yokai) who placed the curse? I know you said the focus of this segment would be the recovery but I am nothing if not a sucker for some good ol revenge :3

It was so fun to know that the other yokai in the bathroom would be important from the very start but not fully why; to then finally make the connection with April that it was probably a witch from witchtown???? *chefs kiss* good stuff right there I say I do say. I honestly never got around to watching the entirety of the show (too much second hand embarrassment) and Donnie vs Witchtown was one of those episodes I skipped, so now I'm wondering if this is a previously introduced character or someone brought in solely for the sake of the plot. And who knows this may not be relevant to the fic whatsoever but I'm curious and rabid with feelings *bats eyelashes at you cutely*

And if there is revenge I'm so excited because Leo clearly meant that he would kill whoever did it but also he was delirious with grief and also actually killing someone would be so disastrous. Sure the three may feel better about it but I can't help but feel it would truly prove to Donnie that they have full capability to actually kill him. They didn't before but they still have that power of course it would only take a few slip ups before he's out of luck. Would he feel any relief in knowing that the one behind all of his pain was gone forever and no longer able to harm him? (i somewhat considered bringing back mira and gentry, but as it is right now i dont think they'll be appearing at all) i could have just used an oc but ive decided to LOOSELY adapt idw kitsune and not really worry about how adherent she is to her original characterization; i just know she does some brainwashing in the idw comics, so she was the best to snatch! also foxes are cool

AND THERE WILL BE REVENGE! some stipulations have to be met first so i cant really reveal the circumstances without going too deeply into spoiler territory, but they have an extremely pressing issue they don't even know about yet, so they'll be distracted with that before they can do anything along those lines (and the way they fix it will even play into the revenge!). i should probably warn, though, that the witch in the bathroom was not actually the one who did the curse, but she WAS still responsible,,,, let's just say the magic that was used for it is not typical of regular, mortal witches. ;)

Finished another amazing series Mob Psycho 100

And it was a exceptional experience y’all, ( Spoilers a head for the non telepaths and psychics)

So the last season I heard it was just meh till the end from my friends who whatched it and DAMN they were dead wrong on that mark I LOVE BEGINNING TO END THIS SEASON

Want to talk about each arc that blown me away

Which I don’t have a single clue what the fandom name these arcs so I gonna make some simple names for it

Back to mob arc (1-3 episode)

Was really amazing as a starter for what to come for those school elements that was every episode that was ther. I related to mob so good dam hard that first episode from just his fear of the future and that advice gave at the really helps me get my head looking forward at the future without fear but with excitement for the possibility. Just speech from the teacher was soooo reassuring and I could just understand on that feeling so hard then that yokai hunter episode was just hilarious and cute having mob solves his own problems in such a way that incorporates his passion and reliability was just a real fun time to watch. Having that yokai king( the one that mob made) was cute to seee all of that effort that been put together. And now what I I would say the last place episode and by no means I think it was bad I just felt incomplete but with that next arc it has been a amazing to hint at and show what to come .

The divine tree arc (4-6)

This arc was just sooo good and for it was too reason the eeriness of the first part like how everyone started to ignore mob and starts to be more of a out cast while the religion starts to slowly take over. Like this what was One of favorite YouTuber videos Supereyepatch wolf video about social anxiety horror was about ( and yall should watch that video if you want to explore that same feeling with mob) but yea having that feeling of slowly becoming a outcast is just a fear that now looms over me. And then having those little scary moments of just the spread will linger in my mind for a while. The other part of why I love this arc is dimple from how he was in the beginning and end. I don’t know what the opinion on the beginning of the arc about dimple but I loved how unnerving it was about. The concept of someone takes your place is equally as scary as the becoming a outcast to your friends and I think it went hand by hand perfectly but the ending with dimple was sooooooooooo good like I thought oh easy back stab here but the genuine kindness that mob showed actually made him change and I love that soo much and how he made mob go home made me cry actually tears with that wave because aaaaahhhh I can’t really explain it in words but if anyone can explain please do but it was so gooood.

Space arc( 7-8)

This was just a cute nice simple arc. I just love how it expanded so much with occult club members and it just so cute and wholesome having them together, and the message of make memories is resonating to me sooo hard. Wanting to make a friend dream a reality is real heartwarming and how it explored more on a different psychic is really interesting and love that new character so much with his excitement for the adventure. And the aliens was just a treat to because having them there made sense in that strange world of mob psycho and having them either real or not really didn’t matter but just making them real felt so complete.

Final (9-12)

Okay ao I. I don’t want dismiss the other parts of this great season but wow this is the best way to end a series like this one from the amazing action to the most heart felt speeches and the overall tone of this felt soo right. Having experienced this was great bringing back last season big bad was a treat and the fights were great but that running scene from Reigan was just immaculate just him running towards Mob as the world turns to ruins it just amazing. And I love how each character ending was felt so complete like with Teruki Hanazawa him with that scene calling himself mobs rival was soo good he save everyone because he knew that fighting mob wasn’t the main thing but protecting mob from killing people was. And there were so many more great moments like this to round out most characters in this great story. But we have to talk about tumblr sexy man Reigan and his speech and I don’t know how many people are said this but I just love how he was honest to mob and helped him accept himself to become more of a complete person and it just makes me have goosebumps from just listening to him admitting to his faults it just soooo god damn good.

I don’t have any good ending statements but I am just glad to experience this amazing show and I hope yall have similar experiences with this great series

Hi hello idk how this works + never gposed in my life so she’s doing literally nothing here but this is my char Tatake Take in her red mage fit <3 featuring Middy cuz he’s bestie. More under the cut this might get long, it’ll just be a mess of ideas with no coherency LMFAO. Currently it’s white glowing hair because it’s post SHB, where she’s channeled the light within her into something manageable, which will inevitably turn back into her original red highlights. Spoilers for like everything up to SHB btw:

Honestly her lore I keep changing back and forth cuz I didn’t start using mods till SHB 😭 (just beat it btw so 🤫 on any spoilers afterwards) Like originally she had cat ears + a tail and it was gonna be a whole thing about her being some kinda spirit/yokai from the forest LMFAO???

Rn the barebones idea I have is that she’s part dragon and hid it till SB when Rhalgr’s Reach was attacked. (I won’t even lie, I’m low(high)key inspired by Dan Heng’s lore from Honkai Star Rail, I’m even debating if I wanna steal the reincarnation thing or not 😭) so yeah she is. Old LMFAO

Zenos with his plot armor and unexplained strength ends up landing what should’ve been a killing blow on Tatake. Everyone watches on in horror, which makes way to shock as she begins to change in response to the physical stress, revealing her draconic eyes, horns, tail, and the glowing highlights of her hair signifying her power. Zenos looks on in surprise, then intrigue as he sees what the famed Warrior of Light has been hiding all this time. Afterwards, it was no trouble pushing away him and his forces back.

(This ends up creating a somewhat subplot conflict between Lyse and Tatake, as the former is angered by this reveal; why didn’t she use this power to save everyone in Rhalgr’s Reach, hell, even back at the Wall? Did Papalymo really need to die if this what their friend was capable of?)

Nobody gets an explanation from Tatake. It’s the twins who get the closest to an answer, which even then wasn’t much. Their mother figure simply says that it was of absolute importance that nobody finds out, as she hid away her draconic features almost immediately after Zenos and his forces retreated. But, she points out with a bitter smile, she supposed it was too late for that now. Alphinaud and Alisaie want to know more so badly, but Tatake’s comfort and boundaries are infinitely more important than any curiosity they have.

On the carriage to Gridania, she kept her answers to Bremondt’s questions pretty vague, aware of two sleepy twins watching with interest. (She/I started as a lancer)

So yeah you might assume HW was a very important expansion for Tatake. It was! Seeing her brethren struggle made her wish and strive for the same thing Ysayle did; peace between dragon and mankind. The dragons weren’t afraid to subtly nudge at her to be her true self, either. Tatake was also not a fan of Estinien’s views and attitude LMFAO

(It’s also the expansion where Alphinaud couldn’t help but notice the way the dragons were talking to Tatake; it didn’t seem like they were exactly referring to her status as the WoL. Of course, he had virtually no information to go off of, so he dropped that line of thinking. Later on, he’ll realize that he truly knew nothing about the Lalafell he figuratively looked up to.)

Side note, Tatake continues to hide away her features until SHB, where the absorbed Light makes it too difficult for her to do so. Fortunately, almost nobody questions it, as people on the First are a bit too focused on trying to survive their world.

Another side note! Tatake currently mains Reaper, but she is also very proficient in Dragoon, Machinist, Samurai, and Red Mage. She’s currently learning Dancer (at least, the Eorzean version of it. She was worried using the traditional dances she knew would have people asking questions), which she finds to be a good stress reliever from her troubles.

Anyways that’s all I got hahaaaaa, I stay off of tumblr and I come back just to go full send on my character 😭 whoever’s got one of those templates with questions for WoL character building plz send, I’d love to fill one of those out for my reference + understanding Tatake more as her writer

So ep 146 is Yuhi vs some 8 foot tall lady yokai? Why do I have the weird feeling she's supposed to be Mitsuko's counterpart... Anyway, Yuhi should win this. But I have a hard time believing that he gets mistaken for a samurai considering his current looks? Shouldn't Yudias be giving off samurai vibes more now that he's a lord? Also are they still in the sengoku era considering they talk about a yokai and not alien??? Does that mean Yuamu's plan to reactivate Time Machine failed?

For episode 147 we have Otes having escaped prison. This was the most obvious af thing to happen especially if you watched Sevens where Otes was also arrested once and still managed to escape. Anyone believing he would stop being relevant is naive af. But why the heck are Tenten and Ranran suddenly there too? And why would Otes want them to tag duel against him? In a weird way, this feels like he wants the two Nanahoshi's tag dueling against him so they will make up/become friends. But why would Otes care for that?

I still believe in the info of Go Rush ending with 151 episodes aka last episode should air on March 31st, the last Sunday of March because first week of April is usually the start for a new show. (even if still no info for ygo 9) But that would mean that ep 149 is already the start of the final duel if it's a 3-parter.

Episode 148 is called Moonlight Smile and I have no idea what to expect there. But it's weird how there's still no sign of Yuna unless ep 148 will have her back.

Btw: While Zwijo has already won in this arc and so he technically doesn't have to duel again, there's still his vision of losing. I've seen some people expecting Yudias to beat Zwijo but what if we get Yuna vs Zwijo instead where Yuna wins? I mean he did once threaten her and if Yuna's still acting like an antag, maybe Zwijo tries to stop her for real this time but fails?

Ngl, I have no idea how the heck Go Rush wants to wrap up everything in a satisfying way unless they do add some more episodes.

My Thoughts/Kind of a Summary on "Katie's Yokai Butler"

This will all be from memory, so I apologize if some things are off, out of order, or otherwise incorrect `~` Edit Yomo here! I watched it about halfway through this but i have an awful memory ahhh! Anyways, screenshots n stuff might be included now! This'll basically be somewhat of a summary as well as a few observations I've made. Also, I'll be using the English names for characters! Keita is Nate, Fumi-chan is Katie, Warunyan is Baddinyan, so on so forth—☆

[SPOILERS AHEAD OBVIIIII]

The alternative timeline in summary is basically if Katie had gotten the yokai watch instead of Nate. It's first (and last) anime mention to my knowledge is in the Season One episode "Katie's Yokai Butler" if my memory served correctly! The episode follows Whisper through his 'dream' in what is presumed to be a look into the alternate Whisper's life. After a little argument with Nate about his messy room, Whisp cream goes to bed upset. He first wakes up to the smell of roses, and quickly realizes he isn't where he should be. (Probably bc Nate's room smells like cheeto puffs/j) He looks around to find himself in Katie's room. ( ＞Д＜；)

This brings us to the first major difference in this timeline; it takes place in Katie's house obviously! Makes sense since she got the watch instead of Nate >u�� Her room is a lot cleaner, and even appears to be more spacious than her male counterpart. That aside, Katie comes upstairs at some point to wake Whisper, to which he responds with confusion as to where he is and how she can see her. To this universe's Katie, she thinks he's acting strange. She pinches him upon request to make sure he's not dreaming, to which he didn't wake up. That confirms that!

After a bit, Katie returns back downstairs when she hears her father calling her. This leads Whisper to wonder about another difference; the inclusion of Baddinyan. Besides the obvious fact of it not being Jibanyan, this also means Katie is probably going to interact with other yokai in a rather different manner than Nate! I say that because Nate met Roughraff in Season 1, Episode 3. He didn't even get Baddinyan's medal! (which sucks because that's one of my favorite yokai! Goofy little cat,,, °□°)

If we're talking on all timeline differences—not just the ones in Katie's house—then the meeting with Roughraff might be a good point to bring up. Considering the fusion was involuntary in Nate's timeline, what happened in Katie's? Did they decide to stay fused after that for whatever reason, did Katie fuse them at a place like shonen temple (which doesn't exist in the anime I think >~>), or did something happen pre-canon for them to have became friends and fuse? Sometimes, a fusion can be in the same place as the yokai that fused them in the anime due to certain yokai like Baddinyan forming a separate consciousness from either original host ( 〃=▽=〃) (I probably sound like a huge dweeb rn </33) Maybe Katie said something to the newly existent Baddinyan to make him give her the medal, and thus hanging around her from now on!

After some vague threats at fighting Whisper from Baddinyan, the yokai butler in question wonders about who replaced Hidabat in the closet. He goes to open it leading us into our next difference; Shadow Venoct. There isn't much from me to say about this one to be honest, he doesn't have any lines except for maybe the hissing of his snake-scarf thingies hissing at Whisper (¤o¤|||. I've noticed that a lot of Katie's friends seem to be more powerful, or at least a higher rank than Nate's. [Ex: Shadow Venoct being S Rank, Baddinyan being B Rank, and another S Rank we'll get into later—!♡]

Sometime after that, Katie calls Whisper down to help her investigate the strange way her mother was acting. Whisper attempts to use the Yokai Pad to identify the yokai...although Katie swipes it away just as quickly. <°[O□o;]°> She says that Whisper (or this timeline's original version of...) promised to try and memorize the information instead. It seems un-Whisper like, but to be fair, alternate Whisper probably formed a different dynamic than the usual! She identifies the yokai with the watch, to which Whisper (discreetly uses the pad and) figures out it's Noway!

To deal with him, Katie said that she'd summon a special rare friend. This turns out to be Robonyan's timeline counterpart; Goldenyan! Upon asking the golden robot cat for help, he says that this was 'beneath' his capabilities and basically that his power shouldn't be wasted on it...; ￣Д￣ Anyways, he leaves to the future and the episode ends with Katie using Whisper as a special attack against Noway, much to his dismay >u<. Oh, and it's revealed here that Whisper was dreaming.

Although it may have been a "dream", I'm 99% sure that was a plot device to not have to script in 'Whisper going to another universe!!' to the episode and how he eventually gets back. I personally believe it would be cool to see a spin-off dedicated to something like this! There's Nyanderful Days I guesssss but that doesn't really count cuz it just has Whisper and Jibanyan and it's just inserting Katie into the og series plot (￢_￢) There's a lot of potential, and I'm sure viewers over here in the west and Japan would be happy to see our girl the the spotlight for once wwwwww. Maybe it'd also be an opportunity to have McKraken put into the anime? Hint hint? That, as well as several yokai who might not have been seen by Nate due to him going different places as Katie, hanging out with different people, etc! Anyways, that's all for now!

I will say, watching 2003 again after Ghost is. Oof. It horts.

Ghost knows, he knows Splinter can understand some of it. But Splinter also lived in Japan, where he didn't deal with those things. Maybe he wasn't accepted as completely himself. Splinter definitely went through shit. Ghost knows this. But he had a childhood, even if it was marred with his mother's loss.

Ghost is talking about something much deeper than what Splinter experienced. From the very beginning, Ghost and his brothers were raised knowing that it was only the four of them. They were it. Period. No one else. If they were seen, or caught, they would get taken to a facility and killed and dissected, or kept alive and experimented on. No one would vouch for them because they were different.

There is such a deep difference between feeling acceptance early in life, knowing that there were people who would accept and love you, who would care about your well-being because at the end of the day you are all human, and growing up with only four of your kind. You are alone together. There may be kind people but they will never connect with you on the same level as being a mutant turtle. They are the only four of their kind.

Ghost spent a single year in a world where there were people who would accept and protect them. He was barely starting to learn that he could feel safety in people other than his brothers, that he could connect despite not being the same species.

Then Ghost spent 10 years alone, without any kindness because his brothers were gone. And those old fears he grew up with became ingrained in him once again, made worse by paranoia and depression and anxiety and emerging PTSD.

Ghost understands that Splinter knows something about being othered and shunned despite being human before. What Splinter will never understand is how isolating it is to have grown up fearing everything because it could mean your death.

Ooouuu... I could see it happening to El and maybe Mike, though with Mike it feels like the wrong... vibe. With Spirit, it doesn't happen. His story is different.

Yes yes yup yeah exactly!! This is why Ghost is so paranoid! He grew up for 15 years thinking like this! And then he spent 10 years completely alone, the one time he did actively make extended contact with Yokai at that point was going to Big Mama and he was immediately put in a coliseum! Like!!! AH he's literally never felt safe, anywhere. He's never been safe anywhere.

Kinda makes the fact that he just sleeps out in the open in the lair now feel that much riskier for him.

Lmao I think about that so much, too. Season 4 was the BEST season of 2003, it was the most popular season. It was great. But it got too dark, and when they tried to continue that in Ninja Tribunal, the network went "AH OOPS WELL NO" and it's like. What we could have had.
