I wrote Ailani’s story for many reasons, but it’s late and I’m overtired and I’m on some new medication that’s making me sick, and I just need to remind you all that you have so much life to live.

Ailani’s story exists because no matter the ending, and no matter the sadness along the way, you have so much life left to live. You have so much love to explore and love to express. There is so much life to live. Mental illness, physical health, and other struggles may seem to steal time from you, but I promise you, I promise you, there is so much out there. A second of joy is waiting around the corner, the light shining through your window on a winter morning, the way your friend smiles when they laugh at your jokes, the warm blanket you wrap around yourself at night, your pet looking at your like you hung the moon, a cup of coffee, or the way your hair falls just so. 

Your life isn’t over, even if it’s sad. Your life isn’t over, even if it hurts. Your life isn’t over. There is so much time, even if it’s limited. And you are worth all of that time and more. 

Your sadness or struggle doesn’t diminish your worth. You can be loved exactly as you are. You are loved exactly as you are.

And there is so much life out there, and there is so much life inside of you.

Online friends are the loves of my life but damn it’s so sad.
