John was mad. He gave you clear orders to stay on the base, but no, you had to disappear in the middle of the night. Now he was standing in front of his desk, staring down at the laptop's camera with a look that could possibly kill.
"Keep your little protégé on a leash, Kate," he told his friend. Because Kate was a friend, one of the handful of people he trusted with his life. But this troublemaker she had sent to join their team for a while was too much to handle.
The woman let out a sigh and leaned back in her chair. "She's authorized to act on her own, just like Alex."
Putting his palms on the desk, he leaned close to the camera. "She's reckless, hot-headed, and doesn't respect the rules," he listed. "She's gonna get herself in trouble."
"Look, you said it yourself, she went somewhere with Alex. Who, and you need to think about that, also went against your orders. But anyway, wherever they are, they are together and I trust them. I advise you to do the same," Kate suggested.
"And if she gets hurt?"
"She did get hurt," a man said behind him.
He turned around and found Alex standing in the door, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his jeans. "You're back? Where is she?" he asked.
Alex hesitated when he realized the captain was truly angry this time, losing his temper over the two of them leaving without his permission. "In the infirmary," he told him with a sigh. "A bullet grazed her side, but it's nothing serious."
"I'll go see her," Price said before turning back to the laptop. "Talk to you later, Kate."
"Don't be too hard on her, please," she tried.
"We'll just talk," he said with a huff.
"Yeah, that's what I'm talking about."
John shook his head then walked past Alex to get out of the room. His heart was racing, mind full of worst case scenarios. The bullet grazed your side, that usually wasn't a big deal. But what if it was? What if you had some other injury your partner in crime didn't know about?
Even though he was mad at you, he couldn’t help but be worried as well. It had been like that for a long time, him having a hard time making up his mind whether he was angry or worried. You had this strange, mind altering effect on him which slowly drove him crazy. He didn’t want you to get hurt, but it seemed like you were attracting trouble.
Once he stepped inside the infirmary, John took a deep breath to calm his nerves. He asked a nurse where you were, and the very moment you entered that examination room, you held up a hand and stopped him before he could say anything.
"Don't say a word. I know I went against your order again and I’m sorry,” you told him with an awkward smile.
He nodded as he pointed at the bandage that was just under your sports bra. "Does it hurt?"
"I'll live. The painkillers will help."
"I was worried," he admitted after some silence.
You raised an eyebrow at him, finding it strange that he sounded so nice and truly worried. "I thought you were mad at me," you pointed out, your head tilted to the side as you watched him.
"I can be both." He laughed a little then pulled a chair closer to sit down in front of you, positioning himself almost between your legs. "Kate warned you?"
"No, it was Alex."
John smiled up at you, having a hard time fighting the urge to put his hands on your knees. "You two really are thick as thieves, huh?" he asked jokingly.
Shrugging, you returned his smile. "I guess we are."
"What the hell were you thinking? I told you to stay on the base."
"I'm sorry."
"Did you at least find what you were looking for?"
"Yes,” you replied with a nod.
"At least you didn't get shot for nothing."
"I'll hand in my report–"
"Alex will do it, you can hand it in when you’re ready. You need to rest."
"I'm fine."
With his eyes fixed on you, John reached out to poke your injured side with his finger, causing you to flinch and whine from the pain you felt despite the meds they had given you. "You don't look fine to me,” he said.
With a sigh, you raised a hand and gave him the best puppy eyes you could pull in this situation. “That was mean.”
John knew you were right. Right now you were just a whiny brat, a kid who did whatever it took to cross every single line there was. But in the back of his mind he still saw the real you, that kind and passionate woman who always looked after her teammates, the one who always visited and entertained them in the infirmary if they ended up there.
Maybe he was playing favorites with you, overlooking your behavior only because he liked you, maybe a little more than a captain should like a member of his team. He wasn’t blind, and he was certainly one of those men who craved intimate relationships, even if they were only temporary.
But what if things between the two of you wouldn’t be temporary? What if it was something that could last, something that could shape your futures? He wanted to know what it would be like to be with you. Whenever he thought about it, whenever he imagined you being his romantic partner, he always ended up thinking you would be a great match.
“What are you thinking about?” you suddenly asked, your voice soft and kind as you spoke to him.
John let out a weak laugh, resting his hands on the bed on your sides while he rolled the chair a little closer. “I’d rather not tell,” he replied, though this didn’t seem to be enough for you. Seeing the expectant look on your face, he let out a sigh, then inched one hand closer and closer to your thigh. “Things I really shouldn’t be thinking about. I could bring an internal investigation on myself if I made a move.”
An understanding gleam passed your beautiful eyes as you watched him, your hand moving to find his. “I wouldn’t tell.”
“I’m glad, sweetheart, but that’s something I won’t do, no matter how badly I want it,” he explained, earning a sad look from you. “I should go. Get some rest, we’ll need you back on your feet as soon as we can.”
He wished he could stay. He wished he could just sit there and hold your hand, giving you kisses every now and then just to make sure you’re okay and breathing despite the injury not being as serious as he had feared. But he couldn’t do it, and he made sure to tell you the real reason, hoping you would understand.

Y/N had been involved in the DEO after since she was little, with her father being an agent there, and throughout all her years, nothing and no one was able to throw her off course.
Until Lena came along.
As soon as she saw the tall, dark brunette with thick red lipstick, enter the room and instantly take charge, for the first time in her career, Y/N was severely distracted. Despite the paperwork she was filling out and how determined she had been to finish, Y/N found herself unable to keep her eyes locked on her computer, and instead her gaze trailed after the dashing woman.
Every time Lena neared her desk, Y/N found herself frozen in her seat, the thoughts vanishing from her head and being replaced by fluffy clouds of nothing-ness, only able to concentrate on Lena’s lovely perfume.
It seemed that she wasn’t doing a very good job of hiding her newfound crush (not that she was actively trying to hide it), because when the DEO had Lena assemble a team of agents to help her with her research, Alex had eagerly suggested Y/N to be one of the agents in that group.
The moment she heard her name her palms slapped down on the keyboard in surprise and her head popped up, eyes frantic to adjust to whatever she was now being involved with. “Huh?” Was her ‘elegant’ response.
Alex did not bother to conceal her smirk. “Y/N, you’re going to be apart of Lena’s team,” she said, and when Lena gracefully turned to her, lips curling into a big smile, Y/N felt butterflies swarm her stomach, bouncing around inside.
The rest was history: by the end of the week, Lena had asked Y/N out on a date, and by the end of the month, they were dating. Y/N had Alex to thank for their relationship and it only strengthened her already close friendship with Alex and, by extension Alex’s younger sister, Kara - also known as Supergirl.
When Lena and Y/N had gotten more serious, Kara revealed that she was Supergirl, and the couple began going to Kara’s superfriends game nights.
Their relationship was blooming and Y/N had never been at a happier time in her life. A wonderful, committed girlfriend, a steady job she loved, and amazing and supportive friends. Everything was going great, so when Y/N started to notice Kara hanging out with Lena more and more often, she was in a blissfully ignorant state and did not notice what was actually happening.
Well, she didn’t notice at first, but when she was going to drop off some papers with Alex who had been training with Kara at the moment, she overheard the sisters’ conversation just before she walked into the room.
“Alex, I just don’t know what to do.”
“You don’t do anything, Kara . . . I mean, Lena is in love with Y/N.”
“I know, I know, it’s just so hard seeing them together! Honestly, I think I may be in love with Lena . . .”
Y/N stopped listening at that point, and instead turning around on her heels, dropping the paperwork on Alex’s desk before sinking into her own seat. She absentmindedly checked her email, not focusing as a gloomy cloud settled in her stomach, almost causing nausea.
As she begin to recall the past couple weeks, Y/N internally facepalmed. It had been so obvious! With how Kara constantly stood next to Lena, found excuses to touch her arm or her hand, laughed at everything she said, and constantly complimented her.
How had she not noticed? And more importantly — how did Lena not notice?!
Shit, did Lena notice?
No, that was silly . . .
But she had to - it was clear as day!
Did she . . . Why didn’t she stop it?
Did she enjoy it?
Did she feel the same way?
Shit, shit, shit!
A feeling of dread overcame and smashed her previous happiness like a large and powerful wave crashing onto a beach. Y/N forced herself to take deep breaths as her mind went into a frenzy, trying and failing to come up with some other reasonable explanation for this.
But she couldn’t convince herself of any other one, so for the next couple days, her behavior had changed drastically. Y/N kept to herself, only spoke when someone was directly speaking to her, and had done her best to avoid Kara and Lena — which was difficult since she lived with Lena.
When the girlfriends were spending their weekend night at their home, Lena finally had a change to confront Y/N.
“Y/N, can I ask you something?”
Y/N’s eyes were trained on the television screen which was showing a movie they had both seen a thousand times. She made no indication of having heard her girlfriend.
“Y/N.”
It took a few moments, but finally her eyes slowly moved away from the team, yet it didn’t meet Lena’s eyes. “Sure,” she murmured.
“There’s something wrong, Y/N, I can tell. Can you tell me what it is?”
The next seconds were agonizingly slow.
“N-nothing is wrong.”
“Y/N, please, I just want to help,” Lena persisted.
Another agonizing couple of seconds.
“Please don’t leave me for her.”
A loud sob left Y/N’s parted lips as she curled forward, wrapping her arms around herself, dipping her head and trembling.
Lena had not expected this and sat up, drawing her eyebrows together. “What? For who?” She demanded, and bit her lip as she hadn’t intended to be so, well, demanding.
“K-Kara. She likes you. And she’s been showing it for weeks and you haven’t stopped her. I-I can’t compete with Supergirl,” Y/N sniffled.
Lena blinked, processing this. After a couple moments, the only sound filling the air being the dull T.V and Y/N’s sniffs, Lena moved closer to her girlfriend.
“No, Y/N, Kara cannot compete with you,” Lena corrected softly.
Y/N slowly picked her head up, and when she turned her head to face her girlfriend, the brunette saw how puffy and red her eyes were.
Lena continued. “I’m so sorry, Y/N, I didn’t notice that she liked me at all - I swear. And I don’t return her feelings. I only love you.”
Y/N’s trembles stopped. “Really?” She asked, and when Lena nodded she happily gasped and then added, “Oh, Len, I’m sorry for thinking that you would like her — I just love you so much and I don’t want to lose you.”
Lena shook her head. “Don’t apologize. You have nothing to apologize for,” she said, before thinking and then leaning forward, locking Y/N’s lips with a kiss, which she gladly returned.
The couple continued on their night, snuggling and trying a movie that none of them had watched before. They fell asleep on the couch, Lena’s arms wrapped around Y/N.

Coming Home To You (Part 2)
AN: Kara is not Supergirl. She’s human and a reporter :)
Many of you have requested a part two so here you go! This is part of a book that I’m working on so enjoy this sneak peek
Tumblr media
“This was a mistake.” Lena paces around inside her penthouse.
Kara stands awkwardly in the middle of Lena’s living room. She watches her lover in distress, her mind running into a million thoughts. What would Alex say when she finds out? What would Eliza think of her when she finds out?
She betrayed her oldest sister. It looks bad but most importantly she feels terrible. Kara let her temptations get the best of her. She shouldn’t have gotten so close to Lena when (Y/N) was away. She shouldn’t have comforted her most of the time when they heard the news that (Y/N) went missing during a mission.
They shouldn’t have assumed that the person they care and love for was dead without any hard evidence.
“Did you know?! Did you know that she was alive this whole time?!” Lena yells at the blonde Danvers.
Kara was taken by surprise that Lena is yelling at her. She never yells at her. She never experienced her anger toward her.
“What? No! Of course not!” Kara quickly replies.
“How could you not know?! You literally write about international news, war stories, political topics, Kara!”
“I’m just a reporter, Lena! I’m not a damn government spy! When I heard about my sister going missing. . . I tried to find leads, Lena! I TRIED! Nothing came out. No trace. No witnesses. No clues of what happened to my sister and her team!”
Lena shakes her head in silence. Her tears were starting to form again. The young CEO thinks about the decisions she has made that have come to this very moment. She shouldn’t have accepted the youngest Danvers’ help and comfort when (Y/N) wasn’t around. She was a fool for falling for Kara’s touch and caring words.
She tragically replaced (Y/N)’s kisses with Kara’s.
“I need to find her. . . I need to find (Y/N).” Lena frantically says. “I just need to explain to her that this was a mistake. None of this was serious.”
Kara looks into the floor and shakes her head in disapproval.
“Lena . . .”
“I’m sure she’ll understand. She has always been reasonable, right? God where could she be. A local bar! I just need to look up the local bars. She can’t be far. I-”
“LENA!” Kara interrupted.
The raven haired stops rambling and looks at Kara with frustration.
“WHAT KARA?! I need to find your sister! I need to fix my relationship with her!”
“What about us?” Kara questions her actions, her reasoning.
Lena huffs out a laugh, “Us? There’s no us, Kara! This was a mistake. I MADE A MISTAKE. I love your sister, Kara. You know that!”
It pains Kara to hear those words coming out of Lena’s mouth. Kara fell in love with Lena. In all truth, she fell in love with her while you were dating Lena. She kept it to herself. The youngest Danvers didn’t want to ruin the relationship you have with Lena. She thought that you being “dead” was an opportunity for her to have a chance being with the young CEO.
Lena sobs, her knees falling to the ground. The stress and frustrations are getting to her. Kara didn’t hesitate to be by her side, comforting her the best she could without making the situation worse. Lena cries against Kara’s shoulder.
“It’s not ideal to go out and find my sister, Lena. We should probably wait until tomorrow. Let her cool off. I’ll find her first thing in the morning and make this right.”
“Okay.” Lena mumbles.
****
It’s been three whole days that you haven’t stepped out of your hotel room. You have cried endlessly. Scream multiple times. You even broke a couple of items in the room. You drank until you blackout and woke up repeating the same thing you did yesterday.
You have decided that you need to put your hurt feelings aside. You need to reunite with your family and friends. You mentally think about how you’re going to pretend that you didn’t see Kara and Lena a few days ago. You will keep your distance. You will maintain your cover.
Your captain has already arranged your new deployment. You will be leaving at the end of the month and have a new assignment to take over. Your plan is to just get away from here.
You've been in the bathroom for a while. Looking at yourself in the mirror. It’s obvious that it looks like you have gotten no sleep. You can just pass it off and just say that your military position doesn't give you enough sleep
You fix the imperfections of your new set of uniform before heading out. You take a deep breath and hope that no one catches you acting differently.
***
Location: Lena’s Office
“I can’t find her, Lena.” Kara desperately says.
Lena looks out to the window, standing straight as possible. She was keeping her distance from the youngest Danvers. She can’t trust herself being near the reporter.
“HOPE can’t find her too. The face recognition hasn’t picked up her face anywhere. . .”
Kara’s phone rings out loud. The reporter sighs because it’s her sister, Alex. She hasn’t talked to her since you confronted your youngest sister. Kara hopes that Alex hasn’t found out, she can’t bear to handle Alex’s lecture and disappointment.
Kara answers the call and puts it on speaker for Lena to hear as well.
Kara: “Hello?”
Alex: “Kara! Where are you?!” She said cheerfully.
Kara: “I’m following a lead for my article. Why what’s up?”
Alex: “(Y/N) is back! She’s alive, Kara! She’s alive!”
Kara fumbles her words, not knowing how to react or say. She didn’t want to ruin her sister’s excitement.
Alex: “Get over here at the DEO. J’onn have already picked up Eliza. They’re on their way back here. Bring Lena!”
The call ended without Kara saying another word. Alex was too happy and excited to see you again. She’s happy that she gets to see you “first.”
***
*A few hours earlier*
You didn’t head straight to the DEO to surprise your sister, Alex. You made a quick stop despite the situation you were in. The Uber car pulls up to the two story house that you were looking for. There’s physical changes to the house last time you came here. The grass was looking more green and the roses were more full. By looking at the driveway, the two people you wanted to see are still home.
You rang the doorbell once and you can tell that someone is on their way to answer the door. You mentally ready yourself before they open the door.
A woman gasped as they answered the door and saw you standing firmly in the middle.
“(Y/N)?” Eve can’t believe her eyes.
“Eve, who’s at the door?” Lex calls out in the background.
Eve was speechless that she couldn’t answer her husband. Lex was a tad worried that Eve wasn’t answering him right away. The man makes her way to the door and gives the same shocking reaction as his wife.
“(Y/N)! You bastard! You’re alive!” He shouts with joy.
You smiled at both of them. You step in to give Eve a hug and then give Lex the same affection. Immediately, Lex can tell that there’s something wrong. He just knows. The man has always been like a brother to you and he feels the same way too.
The married couple lead you to the living room to have a more comfortable environment to catch up. They didn’t have to worry about being late to their work since they’re technically the bosses of their own department at L-Corp. Eve comes in with some tea and mini sandwiches for everyone. The three made small talk, giving them the truth about what really happened in the months you were missing.
Lex and Eve felt sorry for you how much pain and recovery you have to go through alone after that accident happened. You assure them that it wasn’t a big deal and that you’re very happy to live another day.
After the good catch up, Lex thought it was time to find out what was bothering you.
“(Y/N). . Why exactly are you here? Aren’t you supposed to see your sisters first? Or perhaps Lena?”
You looked to the side, took a deep breath and sighed loudly. Your mind goes back to Lena.
“Did you know?” You vaguely ask your ex-girlfriend’s brother.
“Know what?” Lex replies, Eve looks equally confused. This confirms that no one knows, especially your mother and Alex.
“About Kara and Lena. . .” Lex thinks for a moment before he replies.
“All I know is that they’re close. When you were away, Kara had been keeping Lena company.”
You nodded. He’s telling the truth. Small anger was inside you but you’re mad at Lex. You start to get mad at yourself for not being around much.
“I caught them. . . I found your sister with my sister. It was clear that the love bites and the flushed redden cheeks on Lena were from Kara. . .”
Lex suddenly feels stupid for not seeing this. He thinks about how he didn’t see the little hints that his sister was having a lover, becoming a cheater. Eve looks at you with sad eyes, she gets up and wraps you in a hug.
“(Y/N) I don’t know what to say . . . I just - I really didn’t know. If only I have seen it sooner I would have prevented Lena from making those-”
“Lex no.” You interrupted him. “Your sister is her own person. She can decide what she wants to do. You couldn’t have prevented her feelings for someone else. I’m not mad at you Lex. You’re always like a brother to me. You have helped me so much and I will continue to do the same. Despite the situation. This is between Lena and I.”
Lex sucks in his lips and nods, “Did the two of you officially break up or talk about it?”
“No. I left right when I found out. My heart is really fragile at the moment but I promise you like I promised to Lillian years ago that I will not harm Lena in any way. I have never physically abused her and I will not let this dictate my actions.”
“You’re a good person, (Y/N). I’m sorry that it had to come out like this. I was desperately waiting for the two of you to get married someday. Getting the chance to call you my sister-in-law.”
You sadly laugh. You almost forgot about the ring that was attached to your military dog tags. You reveal your necklace to Lex and Eve. Eve was the first to react fast.
“(Y/N)! That ring looks so beautiful!” Eve focused on the diamond on the ring. It wasn’t too small nor too big. It was the perfect size.
“Damnit Lena.” Lex says under his breath while his wife talks to (Y/N) about the ring. “You better realize that you threw out the best Danvers sister. This one was going to marry you.”

Kara just really really wants to date Lena supercorp au?
“Date me,” Kara says.
“No,” Lena answers calmly.
Kara gasps, blinking fast, shocked by the nonchalant response. Lena merely looks at her tablet, her attention clearly divided. Her best friend sits cross-legged next to her on the couch, sweater and sweatpants and socks on, comfortable and relaxed.
“No? But—Lena, I’m cute and funny.” Kara scrunches her nose and squints at Lena’s tablet screen.
Lena pauses. “That’s true,” she says slowly, and finally looks at Kara. Lifting her hand up, she pushes Kara’s glasses back up on her nose using her index finger. Then, she only just returns her attention back to her tablet.
Alex squints at them from across the room. “Oh, great,” she groans, before standing up and taking her phone out of her pocket. “Where's Kelly?” she mumbles to herself as she leaves the living room, making her way to Lena’s balcony.
“Is that—wait, so is that a yes?”
“It’s a no, Kara. I only agreed with the cute & funny part,” Lena says, distracted.
“Lena.” Kara's mouth opens and closes, eyes blinking fast. “Wow, you don’t let a girl down easy. Sad girl down!”
“Well, get back up,” Lena quips. She strokes Kara’s knee, touch tender.
“I—what—?” Kara stammers, with wild eyes. Falling backwards on the couch, she stares at the ceiling. “I can’t believe you—is this how you usually respond when someone asks you out? So this is what rejection feels like.”
“Trust me, you’ll feel better after eating a plate full of potstickers.”
“Maybe.” Kara bites her bottom lip. Frowning, she sits back up and pokes Lena’s thigh. “But can I ask why not? I have abs, Lena.”
Lena wheezes. A few seconds later, Kara also shakes in silent laughter as well.
“Look,” Kara says, touches her glasses and licks her lips. She’s trying to keep a straight face on. “I’ll play with your hair everyday and give you lots of face kisses if you date me.”
“Well…” Setting the tablet down, Lena pretends to think about it.
Then, the balcony door opens and Alex shows up again, walking in.
Lena shoots Alex a please help me look, but Alex pretends she doesn’t see it as she refills her glass of water. After that, she dashes out of the room so quickly she becomes a blur of red hair and black clothes.
Damn her.
Kara sees Lena’s face and pouts, taking her arms back. Lena whimpers, because the heaters aren’t on and it’s cold right now and Kara’s hands on her waist were keeping her warm, goddamnit.
Lena tries, and fails, to pull Kara’s arms back around her.
“Kara. Those arms, put them back where they came from—”
Kara does as told, and indulges her. “I have decided that this is the last time I’m going to cuddle you. I only cuddle people I date.”
“Lies.”
“It’s true.”
Lena breaks into a smile—or rather a smirk, really. “It’s not. Don’t threaten to deprive me of your warm hugs and cuddles.”
“Oh, Lena.” Kara sighs. “You see, I would pay so much more attention to you if you dated me. Your best friend who has abs. So, maybe date me?”
Lena considers it for a second, then wrinkles her nose. “I don’t think so.”
“Wha—” Kara stutters, offended. “I'll have you know I'm an excellent girlfriend. I'll bring you flowers and chocolate and give you nose kisses. You’re the perfect height to receive nose kisses from me.”
Lena only stares at her, the corners of her mouth twitching into something like a smile.
Then, someone laughs—loud.
They both look up to see Alex on the balcony with a ridiculous goofy smile on her face, phone next to her ear.
“Look at Alex. I want that. Did you know that Alex’s girlfriend takes her on a date every week, each Saturday, and has a special routine? Kelly gives Alex’s face ten kisses every night, all over her face. It’s relationship goals.”
Lena cracks a smile. “Gay.”
Kara nods solemnly. “Gay.”
“Women, huh, Kara.” Lena arches an eyebrow at her.
“Hush, Lena. I’m still coming to terms with it.”
Lena tilts her head, smiling amusedly. “Kara, you’ve been ‘coming to terms with it’ since… well, since you met me. I think you have it figured out by now.”
Kara shrugs. “I mean… I still don’t know for sure, Lena. See, I’ve never dated a woman before—”
“—What on earth are you talking about, you dated Lucy before she left National City—”
“—How do I truly know if I like women if I have never felt the warmth of a woman’s touch? I’ve walked my whole life confused, lost and scared, hidden from showing my true self to anyone—”
“—Kara, Eliza said “I know” when you came out to her—”
Kara sighs deeply, eyes wide. “How do I just know when I don’t even know how to hold a woman’s hand?”
Lena takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. “And I thought I was the dramatic one. Darling, you astound me.”
Kara sighs, sad and dejected. “Lena, what was that quote about tiddies?”
“The what now?”
“From Sappho’s. I think it was something like ‘may you sleep on the breast of your delicate friend’? Yeah, it’s that. Oh to sleep on the breast of my delicate friend.” Kara cries. “That’s what I want, too.”
Lena falls down on Kara’s chest, laughter bubbling inside her chest and trying to squirm away. Kara doesn't let her, instead she just cackles along with her. Lena bites Kara on the neck, who doesn't even flinch, which, what the fuck—instead just shifts Lena back to sitting up and then dramatically sprawls out on her back even more.
“Date me, Lena,” Kara says. “Date me, date me, date me—”
“Kara.” Lena sighs, squeezing Kara’s hand. “I am not going to date you. You would spend more time at the gym than you would with me.” She pokes her abs.
“Oh, no.” Kara sniffs. “But you like and enjoy how strong I am. Don't think I don't notice how flustered you get when I pick you up or hold you in my arms.”
Lena looks faintly pink. “That's none of your business,” she says calmly. “I like muscles, you're not special.” Kara only just now notices Lena’s wrinkled sweater from the earlier actions, and starts smoothing them.
“You look nice. You look really good in my clothes.”
Lena sits still as Kara fixes her up, keeping a poker face even when Kara tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
“I look good in everything.”
“But my clothes are simply the best.” Then, Kara gasps. “Yet another reason you should date me.”
Lena sighs, shifting her weight around in Kara’s lap. It’s quiet for a bit, eyes on each other as they listen to Alex talking outside.
Kara takes the opportunity to cup Lena’s face. When Lena doesn’t move, just stays still in Kara’s lap, Kara gives Lena a kiss on the cheek.
Lena pulls back.
“Kara! What was that.” Lena raises an eyebrow, incredulous. Her hands slip under Kara’s shirt, palm on her abs.
“I'm trying to seduce you,” Kara says, trying to keep a straight face, and stops Lena’s wandering hands underneath her shirt.
“It isn't working.”
“Darn.”
Lena nods. “You need to work on your skill.”
“Yes, well… that's not exactly what the last person I had sex with said.”
Lena frowns. “Wait, what? When did you have sex with someone?”
“Hmm. Just yesterday, some woman from a friend’s birthday party. She was lovely. Pretty, too. Why, you jealous?”
Lena scoffs. “No,” she says. Kara pokes her cheek.
“Aw, jealous baby,” Kara coos. “How can you be jealous when you’re not even dating me?”
“I’m not jealous,” Lena insists. “I know what you taste like. I know how you are, and I’m very sure I’m not missing out on much.”
“Oh, really now.” Kara breathes a laugh. “I made you cry the last time we hooked up! You were begging so much—Kara, Kara, please! Kara please, want you to touch me, fuck me now, don’t stop, please, please—”
Lena lets out a strangled noise and quickly quiets Kara, squishing her palm against Kara’s mouth. After a moment, when Kara shows no sign of talking anymore, Lena hesitantly takes her hand off Kara’s mouth.
“So, it’s really a big no on dating me, huh.”
Lena pauses, biting her lip.
“I’ll think about it.”
“Amazing,” Kara whispers. “Lena, are we still pretending it wasn't you that I danced & flirted with at Kelly’s birthday party? I even guided you all the way back to your bed. It's been one whole day since you've last gotten—well, um. You know. Are you okay? How are you surviving?”
“I’m thriving.” Lena breathes out. “I’m living my best life. Been doing some soul searching, too. Finding myself.”
Kara wheezes.
“If you really want to date me,” Lena says, seriously, “you would make me some tea and let me do my work peacefully.”
Kara turns incredulous. “But Lena, I can't move.” She cries. “You’re in my lap, snuggled toasty warm against me and feeling me up. You get up!”
Lena slumps down until Kara’s back hits the couch and Lena’s lying completely on Kara. Kara immediately hugs her with her toned arms.
“No,” Lena says. “I’m cold, warm me up.”
“Ice block human,” Kara whispers. “Date me.”
“No,” Lena says, groaning right into Kara’s ear. She tucks her face into Kara’s neck, her lips touching the skin there. “No, for the last time. I will not date you, Kara Danvers.”
“Golly—that’s not even my full name. How many times can you break a woman's heart today? Aren’t you quite the heartbreaker.”
Lena only makes a muffled sound against her neck.
“No more straps. I’m never giving you some ever again,” Kara decides.
“But I like it when you use the strap. Why not?”
Kara scoffs. “I meant the sour straps. Lollies—my snacks in the cupboards. But since you brought that up, I mean that, too.”
“Wait, are you serious?” Lena pulls herself away, now sitting on Kara’s thighs.
“Dead serious. I’m cute, funny, and I have abs. And as you already know, my strap game is rather incredible. Ask yourself if you deserve the hot package.”
Lena sighs, looking like she’s really considering it. “Kara.”
“I’m a hot item.”
“Come on now, Kara…”
Kara sighs and turns her head to the side, dramatically.
Lena shakes her head. “This doesn’t need to be complicated.”
Kara frowns. “Oh, I see it now. All this time, the only reason why you like me is because of my strap game. I should have known.”
“Oh my god.”
Kara fake sniffs. “No matter, Lena. You’re my favourite person. I still love you, even knowing this.”
Lena mock slaps her on the shoulder, turning it into a gentle hand when it moves up on Kara’s cheek.
“You’re ridiculous, you know that? And pretty, too,” Lena murmurs. Kara takes Lena’s hand off her cheek and presses a kiss to the palm, eyes never leaving Lena’s. Lena’s cheeks darken with colour.
“You’re prettier.”
Lena swallows. “Kara, I—”
“I can’t take this any longer.” Alex opens the door loudly and stomps her way inside. “Can you two stop fucking flirting for one goddamn minute?”
“Alex, I have no idea what you're talking about,” Lena states, blinking. “Kara, darling, could you please remove your hand from my boob?”
Kara gives Lena’s boob a soft squeeze, her other hand cupping bare skin from where she's slipped her hand underneath Lena's sweater.
“I don’t want to.”
“Okay, then.”
“Oh my god,” Alex says, covering her face with her hands. “I want to go home. I need to go—now. I got what I wanted a while ago.”
“Love you, Alex. You are more than welcome to,” Kara tells her. “You’ve been here in Lena’s penthouse long enough.”
“What—you talk as if you haven’t been here all day, too.” Lena frowns.
“It’s the weekend—no work, no other stuff. What’s wrong with spending my free time with my best friend?” Kara says, cupping Lena’s face lovingly.
Lena smiles. “You’re sweet.”
Alex stares at them, horrified. “Wow, it’s like… it’s like listening to highschoolers on a first date!”
“Um, but we aren't dating, Alex,” Kara reminds her sister gently.
“No, no, you're right, Kara. You aren't dating,” Alex agrees, and takes a deep, deep breath. “You're fucking married,” she hisses, wild-eyed. “I was the goddamn maid of honour at your wedding. You live here and you co-parent a cat with Lena. You've been married for like, three years now. Which makes your strange, awful flirting so much worse, Kara Danvers-Luthor!"
Kara and Lena only look at each other, snickering.

First Impressions - Alex Morgan & Charlie x Reader
Prompt: Maybe a cute one where Alex and R have been dating, but R hasn’t met Charlie yet? Alex introduces them and its instant fluff!
Note: Set as a bit of a prequel in the #sweaterthief universe.
“What should I wear this afternoon?” Y/N asked as soon as her call connected with Alex.
“I don’t know, we are going to the park, park clothes?” Alex laughed.
“I’m serious Alex! I don’t know what to wear!” Y/N said exasperated, rummaging through her closet.
“You don’t know what to wear to the park?”
“I don’t know what to wear to meet Charlie!”
Alex loudly laughed into the phone, rolling her eyes at her girlfriend.
“Y/N, we are going to the park. Wear whatever you want.”
“I need to make a good first impression! What I wear is park of making a good first impression.”
Y/N continued to look at her clothes, struggling to decide what to wear on her date that afternoon. The date that she would be meeting Charlie for the first time.
“She’s three.”
“Still a first impression.”
“She’s three,” Alex repeated.
“Shoes, those are the first things people notice,” Y/N continued as if Alex hadn’t said anything.
“She’s three, she is not going to notice your shoes.”
“Alex, this is serious! She is very important to you and you are very important to me, so that makes her important to me. And if this doesn’t go well, it will affect us, so it has to go well.”
Alex could hear the slight tremor in Y/N’s voice, she realized her girlfriend was being very serious about her concern over what to wear, had been thinking about this for some time most likely.
“Alright, first off, take a breath,” Alex waited until she heard Y/N let out a loud breath. “Second, I didn’t think panic could be cute, but here we are. Third, wear shorts you can run around in, wear one of your nerd shirts, and runners or your converse. Maybe bring a sweater.”
Alex heard her release another big breath and could almost picture her nodding along.
“They aren’t nerd shirts,” Y/N weakly protested, satisfied to finally have an idea of what she should wear that afternoon.
“Whatever you say babe, now get dressed, we are meeting in an hour.”
Y/N quickly put her discarded clothes away, pulling out exactly what Alex had suggested she wear. A loose pair of training shorts, her favourite ninja turtle t-shirt, and low top converse. Taking a hoodie to leave in her car just in case.
When Y/N got to the park, Alex and Charlie were fortunately the only people there. She got out of her car and approached them while Alex finished rubbing sunscreen on Charlie’s arms.
“Hey Y/N,” Alex smiled as she stood up.
Charlie stayed seated on the bench, watching her mom talk to this new person.
“Hey Al,” Y/N nervously fidgeted in place, glancing to the toddler on the bench.
“Charlie, this is moms girlfriend, Y/N,” Alex stepped to the side for the two to see each other better.
Charlie stood up on the bench, cocking her head to the side, staring at Y/N.
“Hey kiddo,” Y/N gave a small wiggle of her fingers to the girl, earning a smile.
Charlie was much like her mom, very social, and by no means shy. She clumsily climbed off the bench with Alex’s help and approached the newcomer.
“Turtles?” she pointed at Y/N’s shirt, both confused and excited by the picture of the cartoon turtles.
“You bet!” Y/N lit up and the opportunity to talk about the ninja turtles on her shirt. “This is Michelangelo.” Y/N knelt down, stretching her shirt out to start pointing out which turtle was which.
Charlie inched forward, tracing each cartoon on the shirt delicately as she learned their names, stumbling over the pronunciation of each.
After finishing showing her each one, Y/N stood up and offered a hand to Charlie. “Ready to go play?”
Charlie ignored the hand but nodded and started running toward the play structure. Y/N quickly walking behind to keep up.
Alex watched on while the two ran around the play structure, Y/N easily lifting Charlie to pretend she was climbing something. Alex had known she had nothing to worry about the two meeting, but there had still be a small bit of doubt in the back of her mind that two might not get along. Y/N was a big kid at heart though, there was no way they wouldn’t get along.
Alex relaxed on the bench, smile growing each time she heard Charlie let out a sequel of excitement or the full laugh Y/N gave, smiles consuming both their faces as they played.
It wasn’t long before Y/N came over, carrying Charlie on her shoulder.
“So we talked about it,” Y/N tried to look serious, failing miserably with the toddler on her shoulder covering her eyes. “And we decided we were both very good and should get ice cream as a snack.”
Alex and Y/N had already talked about going for ice cream after the park, but if it helped Y/N and Charlie bond, Alex would go along with it.
“Oh you think so, huh?”
Alex burst out laughing as they both eagerly nodded together. She wasn’t going to stand a chance against these two together.
“Alright you goofs let’s go get ice cream,” Alex smiled at them.
Both let out cheers at the agreement, Y/N briefly releasing one of Charlies knees to reach for a high five.
Alex shook her head and began the walk towards the parking lot, Y/N and Charlie following behind. Charlie rambling about something, still perched on Y/N’s shoulders.
“It’s just down the street. Why don’t we grab our sweaters and walk over?” Y/N suggested.
Alex agreed, reaching to Charlie down with lots of protest.
“You can come back up after we both put our sweaters on, ok kiddo?” Y/N soothed the toddler.
Charlie nodded and allowed Alex to pull the sweater over her head while Y/N grabbed her own.
Y/N hardly had hers pulled on and Charlie was reaching up to be lifted again.
Both women laughed her excitement, but both internally glad at how quickly she had taken to Y/N.
Y/N lifted the girl up, swinging her around to be placed back on her shoulders. And then they began the short walk to the ice cream cart down the street; Charlie babbling the entire way about everything, Y/N looking very focused as she listened on.
Alex felt the warmth throughout her body as she saw her future with this woman. Saw weekends like this all the time. Saw nights curled on the couch with all three of them. Saw Y/N teaching Charlie all about the cartoons and superhero movies she liked. She saw the future of her family right there.
At that moment, Y/N looked over at the feeling of being watched and Alex saw the same look reflected in her own eyes. Y/N gave her a big smile, dimples popping on both sides
Alex went ahead and ordered for everyone while Y/N and Charlie went to a table.
It didn’t take long for Charlie to be covered in ice cream after refusing any help to eat her ice cream from the dish. Her face, neck, hands and sweater all had more ice cream on than what she probably consumed.
Alex shook her head, pulling out a packet of wet ones to clean her daughter before their walk back. She hesitated to pull the sweater off. The sun had started to dip slightly, the wind picking up along with it. It wasn’t a long walk back, but for the three year old, it could be a cold one without a sweater. But it could be even colder with the dampness from the melted ice cream.
“She can have mine, it will be massive, but it’s better than nothing,” Y/N offered, returning from throwing out their trash.
“Are you sure? I don’t want you to be cold too.”
“I’m not weak like you California,” Y/N winked and pulled her sweater off.
Alex rolled her eyes and pulled the sticky sweater from her daughter, quickly replacing it with Y/N’s. The large sweater making the small girl look even smaller, but she loved it. Giggling happily as she swung the long sleeves around, hood covering her entire face. Alex gently pulled the hood of her face but left the long sleeves.
“Alright you, guess it’s bath time as soon as we get home,” Alex tickled her slightly before lifting her up.
Y/N was shocked when Charlie immediately reached out to her to be carried back. She didn’t hesitate before taking her though, the toddler immediately tucking her head into Y/N’s neck, tired from the afternoon of excitement.
“She’ll probably be asleep before we even get to the car,” Alex swooned seeing her daughter so comfortable in Y/N’s arms. She had been in those arms several times before; she knew how good it felt to be surrounded by them.
Alex was right, Charlie was asleep in minutes of the walk back. Y/N gently placed Charlie into the car seat to avoid waking her. Alex leaned in after to buckle her up.
“Thank you for today Alex,” Y/N said softly after the car door closed.
Alex cocked her head to the side, “for what? I should thank you; you were so amazing with her.”
“For trusting me to meet her and giving me to the opportunity be with both of you today.”
Alex didn’t say anything, just pulled Y/N in for a delicate kiss.
“Today went so much better than I could have imagined. She is absolutely in love with you,” Alex hesitated, fidgeted with the baby hairs at the base of her skull. “Just like me.”
“I love you too Alex,” Y/N gave her another kiss, “and I can’t wait to build a little family with you and Charlie.”
They shared another kiss, deeper this time, before Y/N abruptly pulled away.
“We need a dog!” her eyes lit up.

Dream A Little Dream of Me: Norman x Reader (Part Three)
-part three is here! I had to slice it in two because apparently there's a certain word block limit (at least on mobile). So get ready for part four!
Summary: You can’t remember anything.
Tumblr media
Month four, 08:00
The last thing you recalled was the face of a boy with light hair. His eyes were bright, swirling with love and affection you looked for everyday. Whenever you woke up, you couldn’t remember his name, or his sweet voice that called out to you in your dreams.
All you had was the light of day and the rising sun. It made you sad to look upon it alone in your room. Someone else were supposed to be by your side, right next to you. But who?
And then there was the absence of a motherly figure--a woman you only recalled through song. How was it you remembered that melancholy tune but not a name or face? You wished you knew, and you prayed everyday to whoever was up there to give you another chance. Another go at life--with the people you never knew the names of.
“Good morning, Letha.”
You met the old man’s gaze with a simple nod. His crinkly voice was one of the things you actually didn’t mind, even if it was hard to hear at times.
The old man, Alex, was kind, but the most you conversed about were your lost memories, your insane knacks for weapons, chess, and lastly, intelligence.
Time wasn’t friendly, and a month passed uneventfully. It turned into two, which turned into three and so on. Every now and then, you wondered if you’d stay like that: a blank slate. Alex said there was this one philosopher who called it a ‘tabula rasa’. For some reason, that fact reminded you of someone long ago.
Dark hair, the smell of old books, dust hidden between bookshelves...
You began to make out the image of a boy. He was no older than you, with cool eyes, a warm, yet small smile. Who was he? His name was at the tip of your tongue, yet it wouldn’t come out.
Ren? Reylo? Tired Cyclops? No, that wasn’t it. Obviously.
It hurt to think too much about it, and before you could grasp onto it, the memory faded, along with the name.
“Don’t think too hard,” Alex warmly said. “I’m sure it’ll come with time.”
He hoped to help you recover your lost memories, but in the meantime, he’d do his best to support you, just as he’d done with his long, dead daughter. For that reason, he felt it was time to bring you to the world outside. In this town you both resided in, everyone died in a war.
Alex was the only survivor.
For that reason, he was the only person you ever got to know these past seven months. There was no one your age around here, and it wasn’t like you went far anyway. Every now and then, Alex brought you a few towns over to experience a nice train ride to his favourite shops. Then he’d buy you something and take pictures.
But now? He felt it was time to take it a step further. He wasn’t sure if you’d like the idea, but it was worth a try.
SEVEN MONTHS LATER, 06:28
“Come again?” you inquired. Alex took a sip of his coffee and stood from the chair. The wooden floorboards of the cabin creaked under his weight. He waddled over to the window, drawing open the plaid curtains. Warm rays of sunlight fluttered upon your face and Alex smiled warmly like he always did.
“It’s time you get out more,” he said, “and experience the world outside this old town. I want you to look across the horizon because there’s more than the cabin.” You knitted your brows together. You didn’t like how cryptic he was being. It reminded you of someone you once knew, someone who you held close to your heart.
“Gramps, what are you trying to say?”
Alex heaved in a long breath, as if he were afraid of saying it himself. “I want you to go to school. College, if you want the specifics.” Your eyes doubled in size and you hoped, prayed, that he would take it back and say it was a joke. College? You didn’t need a degree! And besides, it was expensive. You couldn’t afford something like that. But alas, Alex wasn’t one to joke about serious things like that. He was an old man, so he always meant what he said.
This time was no different.
“You mean it,” you practically whispered. “That you want me to go to college.” Alex nodded, absentmindedly running a hand through his thick, white beard. There was a long pause and you took the time to sip your tea. Would school benefit you in some way? Was it worth the time? The work?
It didn’t make sense. You were smart. Alex said it himself: “I haven’t met anyone as smart as you”. So why did he want to send you to school? It had to be more than just to “meet people” because you did that all the time on the train every few days.
“What’s so good about college, Gramps? We can’t afford to pay for something so expensive. I don’t want to see you in debt just because of me.”
Through your calm façade, Alex noticed the spark of uncertainty in your eyes. Throughout the long days he got to know you, he realised one thing: you were never keen on showing your emotions.
“I want to give you an opportunity to find yourself,” he finally replied. “If the people you knew are around your age, then going to school might bring something back. You know, jog your memories. Besides that, I want you to have a life more than that I can offer. There’s nothing in this small town.”
“I don’t know about that. I have you here. You’re all I know, Gramps.”
Alex knitted his bushy brows together. “I know, but I can’t always be the only one you know. Don’t you want to see the world?”
It wasn’t that going to college was excruciatingly disappointing, only that it was a means of giving out false hope. How could you cling onto something so child-like and unreliable?
Hope could only get people so far. You were no different.
That night, you lay in bed, wide awake. A nagging thought kept pulling at the back of your mind, repeating itself over, and over, and over again until you couldn’t stand the phrase. But as soon as you repeated it with your own lips, it vanished as if it never existed.
You lay in bed for a little longer, fighting the lull of sleep. It pulled on your eyes, and your head nodded as you forced down a yawn. Sleep was for the weak. If you stayed awake a little longer, maybe you might remember something, right?
-----
The grass tickled your bare feet. If it were any normal day, you would have liked to lay down in its warm embrace with Emma, Ray and Norman. You could watch the clouds together, and wonder about life outside these concrete walls.
But that was stupid to think about, wasn’t it? The liberty to relax and do absolutely nothing had been striped from your very being, like the air that you gasped and chocked on. You held your shoes tightly to your chest and frantically glanced past your shoulder. Good. All clear, just how you liked it.
Norman and Emma lay a couple hundred meters behind. They were your eyes, the two little owls that perched high above with all-seeing eyes. With a grunt, you hopped over a thick tree root and tossed aside your shoes. They landed somewhere in the brush, right where the trees parted.
You came to a stop and glared at the concrete wall towering over you. If you completed your mission and everything remained as straight-forward as you wanted it to be, then you’d escape with everyone. Just like Emma wanted. Just like you tried so hard to believe.
But what if something happened? What if Don and Gilda were caught? Or worse, what if Mama suspected that Ray betrayed her? Surely she wouldn’t go as far as to eliminate him on the spot...
...right?
You clenched a fist so tightly that your knuckles turned white. Stop. Stop it, you told yourself. You had to have faith in your family. They were just as capable as you, maybe even more, so they’d have no issues. You had to focus on your job so they could do theirs.
“My, so this is where you’ve run to?”
You sucked in a sharp breath.
No, that couldn’t be. You made sure she wouldn’t know where you were. You told all the precautions, too. Were Emma and Norman okay? What about Ray? And Don and Gilda?
“I’m surprised you managed to make this far.” Mama stiffly said. “You never were as strong as Emma, or fast either.”
It was like the sun stopped shining. Your blood ran cold. The warm rays turned to ice.
“It’s not too late to turn back (Y/n).” Her voice was silky smooth, tempting almost, as if she were coaxing a frightened sheep to the slaughter. “You’ve improved, my dear, but is it enough? Once your plan crumbles, what will you do then? It wouldn’t be a bad idea to become a mama. It’s the reliable path. You will survive and you will be happy.”
For a moment, you wondered if she actually cared about you. Maybe her love was all fake from the beginning and she didn’t care about you. Or your family. Or anything but survival in this cruel world.
You never loved us.
That was what you wanted to say, yet the words stuck in your throat like glue. If she didn’t love you, then why did she hold you so tightly when you had a nightmare? If she didn’t love you, then why did her eyes shine with pride when you got perfect scores?
“Come, my dear,” Mama coaxed. “Let’s go home.”
The sudden urge to laugh bubbled in your throat like lava.
Home? This was a prison in disguise.
It’s not too late to turn back? A lie.
It wouldn’t be a bad idea to become a mama? As if.
You couldn’t afford to betray your family. Not after all you’ve done, and not after all the effort. They relied on you. You weren’t going to let them down.
You turned on your heel to face Mama. She smiled at you, but it wasn’t a nice smile. It made your stomach twist and turn, reminded you just how much of a danger she could be. Your gaze focused past her shoulder, where a familiar head of orange stood.
Emma peeked out from behind the trees and held up the bag of rope. Norman stood from a cluster of bushes and motioned the the wall. They were going to climb it while you distracted Mama. Perfect.
A bright grin broke out onto your lips. “I’m sorry Mama.” you began.
She stood like a statue with wide eyes. “Are you now?” she inquired. You were finally conceding in this fiery war of wits. After all that fuss and now would she have you back by her side? She opened her arms to welcome you. It was all she could do with her prized little girl. Finally you were being smart. Finally you were choosing the reliable path. You were going to follow in her footsteps. Survive. And outlive everyone in this house like she had.
But then something happened. Emma burst from the bushes, followed by Norman who helped throw the rope up a nearby branch. That triggered you into action, and you lunged at Mama with all the strength you could muster.
“I will never--!”
You wrestled for her watch.
“--ever--!”
Mama tugged on your little arms.
“--leave my family behind!”
You yanked the stupid watch out of her hands, but just as you stood, Mama grasped onto your leg and tugged. Hard. She gave it a squeeze, and a sickening crack echoed in your ears. You screamed. Your ears rung and you heaved in a strangled breath.
“You should have taken the reliable path.” Mama’s calm voice made you want to vomit. “None of us would be here if you had listened to your mama.”
-----
Your eyes shot open and you jolted awake. The faces, the voices, the senses--they flashed before you in a whirl of colours and sounds. Why couldn’t you recall who they were? Or what their names were? You knew every single one of them by heart, yet your mind lay completely blank. Again.
The urge to punch your mattress overwhelmed your senses.
“Good morning,” came Alex’s crinkly voice. That snapped you out of your frustrated stupor. He stood in the doorway, a warm smile on his lips and a spatula in hand. “Pancakes are almost done. Today we’ll get you settled in your dorm.”
Oh. Right. Gramps was sending you to a boarding school. The thought of leaving your beloved bed left you queasy and sluggish. Why should you go somewhere so far away from this cozy, little cottage? It was only recently that you settled here too. Maybe Gramps was taking it too fast.
With a heavy heart, you lugged yourself out of bed and threw on a pair of warm clothes. The unforgiving climate of this land was not one you would challenge. Ever.
The moment you emerged from your room was the moment you understood Gramps’s insistence. He meant well, you knew, but in a way you didn’t appreciate. Going out gave you a higher chance of meeting whomever you knew. It was completely logical.
“Are you worried?” Gramps began, placing a stack of pancakes on your plate. “I’ve already informed your school teachers of your amnesia, so they’ll understand. As for your dormitory, everything has been set. And don’t forget your breakfast, lunch, and dinner plans, as well as your--”
“You seem more anxious than me, Gramps.” you said with a subtle smile. He stared at you, wide-eyed until he mirrored you with a chuckle. “I suppose you’re right. I just want to make sure the transition goes smoothly.”
“Of course.”
“And that you’re safe and okay.”
“Gramps--”
“And that you won’t have to worry about a thing.”
“--the pancake’s burning.”
That set him off. He jolted out of his chair faster than his age and capabilities should have allowed. It was a miracle too, because the poor pancake was seconds away from catching fire on the pan. A long sigh left Gramps’s lips as he turned off the stove. “I think I’ll give this to the birds.”
“You best do that, because I won’t eat that piece of charcoal.”
You shared a quick chuckle between each other, savouring the warmth and comfort that came. If someone else had found you that day in the field of endless grass, you weren’t sure if you’d be so lucky. It was by chance Gramps was the one to discover you, so you couldn’t imagine life otherwise.
Once your pancakes were gone and your bag all packed, you traveled to the train station in the early rays of sun. Gramps was the type of enjoy the silence of nature, but to you, it was excruciating.
It didn’t matter where you went. Each time, you looked past your shoulder, to the fading mountains, to the little rabbits that scurried by. It was like you were on survival mode. But why should you be when there was nothing out here? It was so peaceful, so wonderful that you couldn’t imagine anything coming out to get you.
Smile. It’s okay, I promise. I’m here.
You froze and glanced past your shoulder towards the rolling hills and the fading grass. That voice--you knew it. But had you dreamed it up? There was no one here but you and Gramps. A short sigh left your lips and all Gramps could do was ruffle your hair comfortingly.
The train ride was nice. With the calm chugging and the way it swayed, you didn’t mind it at all. Every now and then, your eyes fluttered open and closed. Maybe you were tired. Maybe you weren’t a morning person. Whatever the reason, you submitted to the lull and closed your eyes.
-----
Not a single soul moved for what felt like centuries. The moment Ray, Gilda and Don arrived at the scene, it was clear that nothing else could be done. Mama smiled at her children viciously. She wasn’t here to play nice any longer. Today, she was the hunter and her children the prey.
“It was a clean break. She will recover smoothly,” Mama curtly announced. “And Norman?”
You didn’t like the way she looked at him, or the way her grip seemed to tighten on your limp arms. Her gaze dangerously narrowed and she said, “Your shipment date has been set.”
Your heart stopped and your blood ran cold. Norman’s shipment date had been set? No, that couldn’t be. Your plan required at least another week until everything fell into place. Norman was the core of it all. Without him, what would you do?
And speaking of which, he was going to die.
Die.
Die.
Die.
He was going to die.
You squirmed in Mama’s grasp, hoping--praying that you could maneuver around this. Norman wasn’t going to die. You wouldn’t let him.
“Let me--let me go!”
It was reckless and it was stupid to think he’d be able to evade Mama’s sight just like that, but you had to try.  Didn’t Emma say you’d all leave here together? “Norman--!”
He blinked as if he’d woken up from a long dream. The forced smile the sprouted on his lips looked painful. Don’t struggle, it said.
Don’t struggle? How did he expect you to sit around and do nothing? If anyone should be shipped out first, it should be you. Why? Because you wouldn’t be able to live with yourself if you let any of your family go.
Mama glared down at you with a cold smile. “You can’t fight me more than you can stop the sun from setting,” she said, heaving you higher off ground. Your leg hit her arm and a cry escaped your lips. Norman flinched and Emma remained frozen in place.
You were always the strong one, not Emma, not Ray, and not Norman. Because you were one of the eldest, it was your responsibility to be the shoulder to cry on and to stand when no one else could. To see you holding back tears and gritting your teeth tight enough to make your gums bleed made Norman’s little heart break.
He didn’t care about his shipment date. All he wanted was to see you safe.
The rest of the day passed in a blur of faces, voices and regrets. The sharp pain in your leg long faded, leaving only a dull throb that stayed as a reminder of your failure. Yes, that was what you were, right? You couldn’t complete the plan even with Don, Gilda and Ray distracting Mama. You were pathetic. A waste of space.
The door creaked open and you sat up a little straighter. You smiled at the trio as they entered the room. “Hey guys.”
“How are you feeling?” inquired Norman. He took a seat by your bedside and gave your hand a gentle squeeze. Ray pulled up another chair. He hid his face behind his fringe to conceal his grim frown. It didn’t work though, and you merely smiled at him. He huffed irritably, as if he didn’t want you to know he worried so much.
“I didn’t think she’d go that far.” Ray quietly muttered. You knitted your brows together with a absentminded shrug. “And to think I was that close to getting her watch.” Emma’s shoulders sagged. “I wish I had--”
“It’s fine Emma.” you said with a warm smile. “Broken bones heal, it’s not permanent.” She looked like she wanted to say something, but with the warm smile on your face, she couldn’t gather the courage to. Instead, she settled for a tight hug.
It was hard to look her in the eye anyway. The sadness she tried so hard to force down only added to your guilt, and you weren’t sure if you could think straight with all the regret.
“I’m sorry this happened.” you began. “Now that I’m hurt, you’re worrying for me.”
Emma pulled away as Norman gave a firm shake of his head. “None of this is anyone’s fault.” he stated. "None of us saw that coming, and even if we did, I’m not sure we’d be any good outwitting Mama on the spot like that.” He offered a gentle smile that made you feel just a little bit better.
-----
Gentle smiles. A warm summer breeze. Soft kisses. Tender touches. That was what reminded you of the boy in your dreams. Although you couldn’t recall his face every time you awoke, you remembered the fact that he was handsome and kind.
Gramps offered a warm smile. “Good morning.” You covered your yawn with a hand. “I’m assuming we’re here?”
He nodded. “Are you excited?” It was obvious Gramps knew the question. He only wanted to hear the answer from your mouth rather than from an assumption. As much as you wished to be excited for such a grand opportunity, you weren’t sure you’d like school. Well, how could you guess when you’ve never been to school in the first place?
At least from what you could recall.
“I still don’t know how to feel about this,” you quietly say. Gramps guides you along the walkway and out of the train, where you step out of the station and to the bustling streets of the city. You frown. Gramps said you were going to a boarding school, was it supposed to be somewhere as crowded as here?
From what you read, boarding schools needed large spaces to accommodate dormitories, classrooms, and sports fields. Was there such a thing as space in this congested collection of skyscrapers?
You shook your head to yourself and followed Gramps down whatever path his old-fashioned map led him to. He walked slow. Too slow for your liking. Not only that, but with all the people around, you couldn’t bear not to stick close to his side. What if he got lost? What if you got lost? Or kidnapped and sold on the black market for organs?
Maybe you were just paranoid.
The looming skyscrapers offered no comfort, and the cool breezes that sent shivers down your spine weren’t helping either. You hopped over a patch of ice and pulled your jacket closer just as Gramps came to a stop.
A lot of land stood in the middle of all the skyscrapers, where a pale field of grass stretched out over the acres of land. Buildings that looked like castles peppered themselves out in the form of classrooms, mess halls, and corridors.
You stood in the shadow of the tall brick walls. It separated the school from the rest of the city. An overwhelming feeling of bittersweet hope filled your system, as if you’ve stood in front of a wall like this before. Had you been here? No. You were sure this was your first time seeing the school.
“Take care Letha.” Gramps said. “Don’t forget to eat and exercise, as well as make some new friends. I expect you to call at least once a week, just so I know you’re doing fine.” You smiled a little, cheeks warm in embarrassment. “Gramps, I’m old enough to take care of myself.”
“I know, I know. Just...this is a big step for you.”
“Yeah, that’s true.”
“Be careful, and have fun. Even if you don’t remember anything, as long as you have fun, it’s fine.” He wrapped you in a tight hug. “And most importantly, I love you Letha.”
You basked in the warmth of his arms. You didn’t need to worry about your memories in that moment because you had Gramps. He was your world. Your family. What more could you ask for? But then he pulled away, and the warmth didn’t linger.
You were still incomplete.
The next day, you found yourself wandering the halls aimlessly, picking apart each detail and escape route in sight. The hall to your left had an exit to the school courtyard, a peaceful place with metal chairs and picnic tables. To your right sat another hall, which also had an exit to another courtyard. Then in front of you stood the front entrance, where the side exits fanned out in the halls next to it.
“Hey, you’re the new girl, right? Letha Meek-aye...Mikhaylov?”
You spun around faster than the speed of light. In front of you stood a girl, perhaps a year older with an unfriendly frown. She wore the generic school uniform: black skirt, long socks, white blouse, gray sweater vest, and a tie. Her bright, red locks stood out like a sore thumb. They curled past her shoulders in beach waves, framing her narrow, freckled face in rouge.
For a moment, you blanked out. When was the last time you spoke to someone, much less a teenager your age? Even though this girl wasn’t intimidating, it wasn’t like you wanted to talk to her. The point of coming here was to figure out if anything jogged your memory and then leave. It wasn’t playtime. “I’m new.” Your voice came out calmer than you felt. “Is that an issue?”
Despite the pointed look on her face, you had a feeling she was one of the nicer people in the area. She had a soft look in her green eyes, as if she understood what it felt like to be a new kid. “I’m Flanna Morris,” she said with a small smile. “Nice to meet you Letha.”
Flanna had an accent. By the hard ‘r’s and the elongated ‘oo’ sounds, you guessed she had to be from Ireland. Gramps told you it wasn’t too far from here, but still a while away.
You sent Flanna a cautious side eye. She was being too friendly. “Yeah, nice to meet you too...Flanna.” A hearty laugh that bellowed in her stomach echoed in the quiet corridors. “Look,” she said, “I’m not here to bully you. I just wanted to offer some help.”
Help? Yeah right. No one in this world offered help without asking for something in return. Besides Gramps maybe--but he was a special case, it didn’t count.
“Come on, I’ll show you around Letha.” The look on Flanna’s sweet face made it hard to decline. If you weren’t interested in seeing if there were any places you missed, then you would have declined. But perhaps Flanna could show you more than the shallow surface of this boarding school.
You passed to through the quiet corridors, where the sun shone through the windows overlooking the street. The sun rose over the horizon and up the edge of the skyscrapers’ base. Cars bustled about, and even through the thick brick walls, you heard all the honking and yelling of the early morning traffic.
“So, where’re you from?” Flanna inquired. You tugged on the strap of your bag’s shoulder strap. “Far away.”
“What do you mean by ‘far away’?”
“I mean the countryside.” you clarified. Flanna ‘ohhh’ed. “The city must be a huge change for you then, I know it was for me.” You knitted your brows together. So she was from the countryside in Ireland? That’s more than a simple change of scenery. No wonder Flanna wanted to help you.
“Okay, so here’s the science hall. Ms. Darsey is one of the best teachers you can have around. You’re a juniour, right? I’m a senior--if you couldn’t already tell...”
Flanna talked a lot. No, she didn’t just love talking, she loved explaining all her experiences with x, y, and z teacher, as well as what classroom and what day of the month it was. She had a wonderful memory, you had to admit, but that made her stories long. Her energy was like a breath of fresh air, and that red hair of hers sparkled like jewels in the morning light.
Flanna’s hair was fiery just like a girl’s you used to know. Her face wasn’t clear in your mind whenever you thought of her, but the joy she always brought you stayed. It made your heart warm. Flanna seemed to have a similar effect, but not as strongly as the girl you once knew.
“You have Mr. Dursley for English,” she noted. “Make sure you don’t stick out. He’s a big pain and if you’re late, he’ll give you a detention.” You raised a brow. Mr. Dursley detained teenagers for being late? What kind of nonsense was that? You decided to phone Gramps later and ask him if that were true. He’d know. Hopefully.
The look on your face made Flanna chuckle, but you had a feeling she didn’t understand your thought process. “Don’t worry,” she casually said. “You’ll be fine. I bet’cha Connor and James will be the first to get a detention. They’re both trouble makers--little devils. Especially James.” You stared up at Flanna’s bright, green eyes. They sparkled like the sun against her hair. You’ve seen that look before, the one of unsaid love and adoration. Long ago, someone looked at you like that.
But who?
You wracked your brain for answers. It was on the tip of the tongue. Right there--just in front of you. Yet it was as if something were preventing you from seeing the truth. The one postulate you knew stuck throughout the days you’ve forgotten who you once were.
Backtrack. Backtrack.
A boy. Light hair. Soft eyes. Kind smile. A laugh that was like music. And the calling of your name.
“(Y--n)!”
Yes, that was the sound of his voice, right? Or maybe it was a stranger’s instead, someone’s you’ve heard on the street. Then whose name was that? Was it even a name to begin with? Maybe it was a word instead and you misheard it as a name. That thought made your heart throb in the worst way possible. Ice filled your veins, and you found yourself pausing to stare out the crystal, clear windows.
“Something wrong?” Flanna inquired. You blinked away the haze and turned to her with a shake of your head. “Just nervous.” A bright smile burst onto Flanna’s lips. “Ah, I see. No worries, you’ll do great. And if you don’t it’s your first day, right? Nothin’ wrong with messin’ up a little.”
You wished you could believe Flanna, but something deep in your heart said otherwise. A slip-up could cost someone more than their reputation. Possibly their life. You couldn’t speak from experience, but you were sure you’d seen a sacrifice. Long ago. Far away in the distance.
Flanna stopped in front of your first period class. “We still have about fifteen minutes before school starts. Everyone’s probably in the cafeteria eating breakfast or fooling around in the field. I recommend you come early to class so you don’t get caught up in the crowd.” And with that, she waved, turning on her heel to hurry away. “I’ll see you during lunch! We have it together, so I’ll come find you in the cafe!”
She rounded a sharp corner and disappeared, leaving you alone in the quiet hall. You peeked in through the open door. At a long desk sat a teacher, who stood at the notice of your presence. She wore thin glasses on her old squarish face, a white blouse with a tie, a woolen navy blazer, and black trousers with heels to match.
The teacher had a kind face, with eyes that were soft with years of wear and tear. The smile on her lips said it all--she had seen things. Many things. “Welcome, I assume you’re Letha Mikhaylov?” She had a crinkle in her voice like the edges of her eyes when she smiled. It complimented her kindly face.
“Yes.” you replied. “That’s me.”
“Well I’m Mrs. Walker.” She motioned for you to come in, that sweet smile still on her lips. “I don’t mean to be rude, but I’ve been informed that you have amnesia. May I ask how much you remember?” You folded your hands together. It was the least you could do to look less nervous.
“I remember skills, knowledge, and the arts. I do not recall my original name or what my life was like before, but I am still highly-functional. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mrs. Walker. ”
The way you worded your sentences was off-putting to the teacher. It wasn’t normal for high school students to be so in-line, much less well-off with their manners.
From the report she read, you were taken in by Alex Mikhaylov, a writer who lived in an old, deserted town. He claimed he’d been trying to help you re-gain your memories for nearly a year, but from the looks of it, there wasn’t much to go off of.
Mrs. Walker took a seat at her neat desk. A pencil sharpener sat at the corner along with a tissue box, stapler, tape dispenser, and a plastic name plaque. In bolded letters it said, Mrs. Walker. Of course, in cursive. A few photos were cramped by her computer, where she stood there, smiling with a young girl and a man. Mrs. Walker looked to be around twenty-eight to thirty in that photo.
You stood by her desk awkwardly. Were you supposed to sit in the back? Near the window? Or in the front? The sinking feeling of unfamiliarity plagued your mind as you ran a hand through your locks.
There weren’t any other students here besides you.
“You may take a seat wherever you’d like Letha,” Mrs. Walker said. “I do not assign seats in this class, but if there is an issue, I can if you’d like. Is there anything I should know about you?” You shook your head and took a seat by the window. The football fields, frost-bitten and white, stretched out as far as the eye could see. A little to the left of that were the dormitories. Red brick walls and sparkling clean window panes, just like every other building at the school.
Winter was a wonderful season, but you wished it weren’t so cold all the time. Maybe if there were a bit of snow, it would cheer you up, jog your memory even. “I’m not sure if I have anything of importance.” Your voice echoed in the deserted classroom like a bell. “But I hope I can do my best.”
A smile broke out onto Mrs. Walker’s lips. “Don’t hope, do.”
And so you did. You vowed to do what you could with whatever you could. You weren’t going to hope to do your best, or hope to find your memories because you would. They’d come back to you, and you were going to do everything in your power to get them back.

Soulmate au?
i.
“Do you believe in soulmates?” Kara asks suddenly one day. They’re in Lena’s office, having a rather late lunch, and had lapsed into a rather awkward silence when Kara blurts out her question.
(Mending friendships is slow, tedious work.
But much like all her other goals, Lena doggedly pursues it, determined to see it through.)
“No, I’m a scientist,” Lena laughs, putting her fork down. “Why do you ask? Do you think you found your soulmate?”
She doesn’t know why she asks. She doesn’t want the answer to that. She doesn’t want to hear about Kara’s dating life. Ask her why, and she’d vehemently deny knowing the reason, but the truth is that the thought of Kara with someone else sends poisonous shards through Lena’s chest, twists her all up inside, and leaves her feeling like her world has crashed around her.
(It’s not dramatic at all.)
“What? No!” Kara says to Lena’s ultimate relief. “No, it’s for an article.”
“You’re writing about soulmates?”
“Well, not exactly. There’s this woman here in National City who claims she can find your soulmate.”
“Oh?” Lena says, raising an eyebrow. Kara nods.
“Apparently, she can see the three ‘Marks’ of soulmates.” When Lena just eyes Kara skeptically, Kara grins and shrugs. “I’m serious! She claims there’s the Mark of Pain, the Mark of Skin, and the Mark of String.”
“...right,” Lena says, stretching out the word and smiling when Kara laughs. “So how does it work?”
“Well, I’ve only talked to her on the phone. But she says soulmates are attached in different ways. And she can sense it. Even if we ordinary people can’t. Like, her string theory—”
“—I don’t think that’s what the string theory is, Kara,” Lena interrupts, but Kara’s on a roll.
“I know, I know. But she says she can see it. Red thread, tied from one person to another. Or tattoos on people’s skin that matches in some way, and only she can see.” Kara shrugs. “She has a pretty good Yelp rating. Everyone says she’s gotten it right.”
“That seems more like confirmation bias than anything. And of course she’s making money off this.”
Kara smiles warmly at her, her eyes soft behind the glasses she didn’t technically need. She looks at Lena in a way that makes Lena heart skip a beat or two, that makes her momentarily forget about the past year of difficulty between them. Suddenly, she’s only looking at her best friend, and she’s a little bit in love.
“So you don’t believe in soulmates?” Kara confirms, her smile turning wistful.
“Why? Do you?” She doesn’t know why she asks. She doesn’t really want to know the answer, sure that any response Kara gives will just be a kick to the chest. Another crack in her heart.
She really wishes she hadn’t asked.
“I don’t know,” Kara responds after a short pause, clearly giving it a lot of thought. “But I hope soulmates do exist.” Kara lets out a laugh. “Maybe this woman can lead me to mine.”
(And there it is, that kick to the chest and crack in her heart she expected.)
Lena looks away, pretends to be startled by the time, but even as Kara gathers her things to leave, she secures Lena’s promise to look into this mystical soulmate finder together.
It’s a promise Lena is sure she’s going to regret.
ii. pain
“So, it’s weird that she refuses to see us in person, right?” Lena asks, looking to Alex for some support, which the elder Danvers is only too happy to give. “It’s odd. Why doesn’t she meet us in person?”
Kara shoots them both an impatient look, clearly not impressed with their negativity. “She doesn’t want to be affected by our energies while she’s working,” she explains, checking her phone before looking up and making sure they are at the right place.
“Our energies?” Alex asks dubiously, making a face at Lena behind Kara’s back. She times it poorly; before she can school her features into a neutral expression, Kara has turned to look at them again, her eyes narrowing.
“Being skeptical and being dismissive are two very different things,” Kara scolds them, sounding just a bit testy. “There’s nothing wrong with keeping an open mind, even about things you don’t or can’t understand.”
Alex opens her mouth, clearly about to start a debate, but Lena butts in, silencing Alex with a hand on her shoulder and giving Kara a small, placating smile. “You’re right, we’re sorry. We’ll behave,” she says, squeezing Alex’s shoulder until she lets out a grunt in the affirmative. When Kara is seemingly satisfied, nodding at them briskly, she continues leading them down the street, eyes on the storefronts. Alex, however, elbowed Lena hard the second Kara’s back was turned.
“What’s wrong with you?” she hisses, elbowing Lena again. “We’ll behave?”
“She’s right, there’s plenty we don’t understand, plenty out there in the universe we can’t make sense of, so maybe keeping an open mind isn’t the worst thing—”
“—oh, shut up, you know very well you’re only taking her side for one reason, and—”
“I can hear you two, you know,” Kara says loudly, interrupting their hushed argument. “Also, we’re here.”
She stops and looks up at the rundown tea shop, nestled between an old record store that had clearly seen better days, and a very busy video game and comic book store. Lena tugs on her coat when a few kids eye her as they enter the store, ducking their heads together and beginning to whisper.
“All right, well explain where here is,” Alex says, stepping closer to her sister. “You haven’t actually explained anything.”
Kara nods, gesturing for them to enter the tea shop, the three of them finding an empty table and huddling around it, perching on tiny, uncomfortable chairs. The tea shop is, for the most part, a place Lena would never have entered on her own volition. It’s frilly and pink, photos of cats everywhere, with sticky tables and stifling heat. Yet, there’s also an odd comfort to the place: it smells heavenly, the aroma of freshly brewed tea mixing with a variety of sweets, all neatly arranged at the display next to the register. The customers also look like they’re at home, nestled in corners reading books, tapping away on computers, and even on what looks to be a very engaging date.
It’s nice. Even if she’s skeptical of the reason they came here, she’s glad she’s come across this place. She thinks she may even come by again, especially if their tea is any good.
“So apparently, there are two people who work here who are soulmates,” Kara explains, motioning for Alex and Lena to lean towards her. Lena finds herself swallowing a little when the aroma of the tea shop is mixed with Kara’s heavenly scent. Her mind goes a little fuzzy, and she knows she has a silly expression on her face because Alex is smirking at her. Kara, of course, focused on work and on her explanation, notices nothing. “They have the Mark of Pain. We’re here to observe, see if they actually can feel each other’s pain.”
“I don’t know if I’d like that one,” Alex says conversationally, leaning back in her rickety chair and eyeing the register and the zoned-out employee behind it. “I mean, can you imagine? In my line of work? Kelly would always be in pain.”
“You think Kelly is your soulmate?” Lena asks, a little surprised by the easy way Alex has said it. Like it’s a fact. Like it’s just true. “What about Maggie? How do you know?”
“Who says you have to have one soulmate?” Alex shoots back, shrugging. “Kara’s my soulmate too. Platonically, of course. You, even.” She grins when Lena’s eyes widen, when she opens and closes her mouth wordlessly, confused and overwhelmed and unsure. “What? Just because I don’t believe in this mystic lady doesn’t mean I don’t believe in the concept of soulmates. But who says it has to be romantic? Or that it’s just one person?”
“So what is it?”
“People in your life who enter it and just...stay. Your found family. Chosen family.” She looks away from the employee at the register and smiles at Kara. “Kara agrees. Right?”
Kara, who has pulled out her notebook and has taken a few notes down about the employee at the register, nods distractedly. “We were drunk when we came up with this,” she explains, meeting Lena’s eyes and blushing slightly for whatever reason. “But it just seems—well, it seems silly to think that in the entire universe there’s one person who’d be your perfect partner. That’s also really sad,” she mumbles. “If that were true, who’s to say my soulmate didn’t die with Krypton?” She shrugs awkwardly. “I think sometimes people are just connected. Meant to be in each other’s life. In whatever form that may be.” Kara looks at Lena carefully, her mouth opening and her cheeks reddening further. “Like—” But Lena doesn’t get to hear what Kara wants to say. At that moment, another employee comes in from the back entrance, looking slightly distracted, eyes on the employee behind the register.
“Look,” Alex says suddenly, sitting up straighter as the employee walks by, bumping into a table roughly. “Whoa,” she says, and Lena silently agrees.
Because just as the employee mumbles a curse and rubs their side, blushing furiously and looking embarrassed, the zoned-out employee at the register winces in pain, rubbing that same spot.
A point, Lena thinks, in the strange mystic woman’s favor.
iii. skin
Lena begins researching the strange mystic woman in earnest.
(In her free time, far away from Kara’s eyes or Alex’s judgment.)
Everything about her is frustratingly perfect—perfect enough that Lena is suspicious. The woman’s website is well-made and professional, littered with testimonials and photos of weddings. There are a range of services with a range of prices, and no matter how much Lena digs, she doesn’t see a single bad thing about the woman.
It’s the internet, she thinks as she scrolls through Google reviews, grimacing at the emojis that filled each comment. Surely someone, somewhere would use the anonymity to their advantage to say something less than complimentary.
No one is perfect, Lena thinks to herself. Which means one of two things: this woman is a fraud (more likely) or she has some sort of ability to force people to write nice things about her on the internet (Lena’s had a few drinks when this becomes a plausible option to her).
She doesn’t remember dialing the number on the website, but the next thing she knows, someone with an airy voice is on the other end, asking her if she’s ready to meet her soulmate.
“You’re a fraud, did you know that?” Lena asks. “It’s cruel what you’re doing, really. Telling people there’s someone perfect out there who loves them for them. That’s unkind.”
“Oh, Lena!” the woman says, the airy tone dropping for a moment. “I mean,” she continues, the affectation back, “I’ve been expecting a call from you, Lena Luthor.”
“Oh, have you? Can you see the future as well as the red string connecting people?”
The woman chuckles, and she sounds vaguely familiar. Lena’s drunk mind chalks it up to being drunk. “I can’t see the future,” she says, sounding amused. “I just knew you would contact me after Kara Danvers began her article on my business.”
“Oh?” Lena mutters sarcastically.
“The answer to your question is yes,” she says, and Lena chokes on nothing.
“I didn’t ask a question. The ‘oh’ was rhetorical.”
“No, Lena Luthor, the question you called me to ask. I’ll give it to you, free of charge: yes.”
“I don’t have a question,” Lena denies, not liking the way the woman on the other end of the phone laughs. “Is this how you tricked the others? Tell them what they want to hear, and they write you obnoxiously positive reviews?”
“So you admit it’s what you wanted to hear,” the woman shoots back with glee, that stupid tone gone, and for the second time, Lena swears she knows this voice. “I mean,” she clears her throat, “I haven’t tricked anyone. I just tell people what I see. Didn’t you see the truth at the tea shop?”
“I think there’s a perfectly logical explanation for that,” Lena argues. “Phantom pains, an old bruise, sympathetic—”
“—okay, you’re skeptical,” the woman interrupts, “I understand. What if I show you a second example?”
Lena thinks about it for a moment. “Fine. But on my terms. I want you to find Jess’s soulmate.” She’s just drunk enough that this seems like a wonderful idea. On the other end of the phone, the woman sounds like she’s hacking up a lung.
“Your secretary?” she asks incredulously, once again sounding familiar.
“How did you—”
“—okay, I will do this,” the woman interrupts, rushing to speak. “In two days, you will be able to see her Mark as well as the Mark of her soulmate, just like I do.”
“That makes no sense, what are you—” But she never finishes her sentence. The woman hangs up, leaving Lena looking at her phone, trying to blink away her shock.
By the time she wakes up the following morning, groaning at her hangover and nearly telling Kara she loves her when the reporter shows up to her apartment with coffee and pastries, Lena’s forgotten all about the call.
///
Jess lingers every time she steps into Lena’s office. She eyes Lena oddly, stares at her hands, and shifts awkwardly on her feet. After the third time, Lena rolls her eyes, sets her pen down, and gives Jess her full attention.
“Is there something wrong?”
“No!” Jess says immediately, then grimaces. “Well, yes. But nothing bad. Not really.” Lena waits her out, knowing Jess will get to the point eventually. “My partner and I, well, we had plans this weekend. We’re supposed to leave straight from work, so I was—”
“—oh, right. Your time off. Yes, of course, feel free to leave early.” She picks up her pen, thinking this is the end of the conversation.
“Um, actually Ms. Luthor, I was wondering if you’d be willing to meet him.”
“Meet who?” Lena asks distractedly.
“My partner.” Something must show on Lena’s face when she drops her pen a second time and looks up at Jess, because she hurries to explain. “He’s a huge fan of your work. And he’s a big part of my life. I’d like you to meet him. If you can.” She tacks on the last three words almost as an afterthought, not quite meeting Lena’s eyes.
“Yes, of course. We can—”
“—wonderful, he’s right outside,” Jess says, smiling wide, rushing out of Lena’s office. A moment later, she returns, a tall, charming looking man following close behind.
She introduces them, and for the next hour, they chat amicably, discussing Lena’s work and Jess’s exceptionalism, and the weekend getaway plans. Except, Lena’s not quite sure she retains any of the information she gleans from the conversation—in fact, if you asked her, she couldn’t even remember if Jess had ever mentioned where she and her partner were even going.
Because when Jess’s partner reaches out to shake Lena’s hand, his sleeve rides up just slightly, revealing a small tattoo with Jess’s name on the inside of his wrist.
Lena doesn’t need to see a similar tattoo, with Jess’s partner’s name, on the inside of Jess’s wrist for her to realize what she’s come across.
“Those tattoos are quite nice,” Lena says when they get up to leave, Jess’s partner leaving her office first. “The artist who did them is quite talented.”
Jess gives Lena an odd look. “I’m sorry, Ms. Luthor,” she says, “what tattoo?”
Lena gestures to Jess’s wrist, but when she looks down, the mark is gone.
And that is a second point in the mystic woman’s favor.
iv. string
Lena absolutely, positively, without a single shred of doubt, does not believe in soulmates. The concept is ludicrous. To think that in a massive and constantly expanding universe, the atoms that make her are somehow destined to be near the atoms that make up someone else is an entirely ridiculous conclusion. She does not believe in the concept of a perfect partner, of someone she is meant to be with, of an individual to whom she is forever connected.
(And to be quite frank, there’s a bit of fear too. She doesn’t want soulmates to exist. For one, she’s worried about the prospect that the universe would pay back her family’s misdeeds by forever ensuring Lena does not have a soulmate. And for another, the far more terrifying option, she does have a soulmate, and that poor soul is bound to her of all people.
What an awful, horrible fate—nothing she’d wish on her worst enemy, least of all the person she’s supposedly destined to be with.)
Lena does not believe in soulmates. She doesn’t.
What she does believe in is Kara.
(Kara, who had her back from the day they met. Kara, who had saved her life more than once. Kara, who made mistakes—just like Lena—but had met Lena halfway and worked hard to fix things between them. Kara, who for all her flaws and missteps, is Lena’s best friend in the world, the one person who has seen Lena for Lena, from the moment they first locked eyes.
Kara, who Lena is hopelessly in love with; Kara, who has never shown interest in women; Kara, who has recently taken up the really rather unfortunate habit of telling Lena she loves her every chance she gets.
And then there’s Lena, who swallows down what she wants to say and instead smiles bitterly as she intones, “I love you too, you’re the best friend I’ve ever had.”)
Lena is pretty smart. She can say so without sounding obnoxious about it, because it’s a generally accepted fact. She’s pretty smart, and she was dumb enough to fall in love with someone who could never love her back the same way. She rather thinks that if soulmates are indeed real, then that wouldn’t have been possible. Then again, perhaps that’s not entirely true.
(She thinks about Alex’s notion of what soulmates are or could be, of Kara’s thoughts on connection, and she thinks that maybe—even if she wants it to—she isn’t meant to be with Kara romantically. If there’s anyone in her life who is her family, anyone Lena has chosen, anyone she has picked again and again and again, it’s Kara.
It will always, romantically or not, be Kara.
And if that’s not the definition of a soulmate, Lena’s not quite sure what is.)
For the second time in less than a week, Lena finds herself dialing a number from a well-maintained website.
“Lena Luthor,” the airy voice says as soon as she picks up. “I admit I’m surprised you’re calling. I gave you proof and your answer. What more can you need?”
“These soulmates you find,” Lena says, trying not to let her disappointment seep into her tone too much, “have you ever thought maybe you’re matching people who aren’t meant to be together romantically?”
The mystical woman makes a noise that sounds like a cross between a snort of disbelief and a huff of amusement. “You’re—wow,” she says, dropping the silly tone, and if her voice was just a tiny bit higher, Lena would swear it was— “Listen. Yes, platonic soulmates are a thing. They’re great. We love them. Some people only have platonic soulmates. But you are not platonic soulmates with—”
“—yes but how do you know something like that, that seems hard to—”
“—it’s like talking to a brick wall,” the woman interrupts, and Lena can hear some sort of scuffle from the other end, as if someone is trying to pull the phone out of the woman’s grasp. “Look,” the woman says after a second, sounding a bit out of breath, “I’m going to tell you something I have never told anyone else. Of the three Marks, the most clear and obvious sign of two people belonging romantically together is the Mark of String.” The woman pauses, and Lena would almost swear that there’s someone else speaking to her. “Here’s what you should do. And I do this free of charge for you, because I’m highly invested in this,” she chuckles as if this is a great joke and then barrels on, “so listen carefully. Tonight, go see the woman you love. Spend the night. If you wake up with a red string tied from your pinky to hers, then you can rest assured she’s the one.”
“I don’t know if—”
“—Lena,” the woman admonishes, and Lena frowns, finally recognizing the voice. “Trust me on this.”
She goes through with it, trusting the not-so-mystical woman.
Except, when Kara sneaks towards the bed she gallantly gave up for Lena, a piece of red thread hanging from her hand, Lena sits up and clicks on the bedside table light.
“You have a lot of explaining to do,” Lena tells Kara.
v.
They’re sitting on opposite ends of the couch, facing each other, Kara sitting with her knees pulled up to her chest, and Lena trying hard (and failing) to act relaxed.
“So?” she prods, gesturing to the red thread still tied to Kara’s pinky finger. “Want to explain your practical joke?”
“Joke?” Kara says in shock, shaking her head immediately. “No, Lena, it’s not a joke. Not even a little bit.”
Lena’s heart skips a few beats at that, but she maintains an impassive expression. “I don’t understand then. Why would you—”
“—remember a few months back, when I told you I loved you for the first time?” Kara interrupts, jumping to her feet and pacing in front of the couch. She doesn’t wait for Lena to respond. “It took me weeks to gather the courage to tell you. And I’d memorized the whole speech, and at the end you just looked at me like I was speaking to someone else. You told me you loved me as a friend.”
“Right, because you meant it as friends, you…” Lena trails off. “Wait.”
An odd look passes over Kara’s face, something like amusement and exasperation. “Alex told me that I needed to be direct with you. But I—even when I tried, it was like you didn’t hear me.”
(Lena thinks back to all the times Kara had said I love you and she wonders if she’s just heard what she expected to hear and not what Kara was actually trying to say.
Her heart begins to pound in her chest at the very possibility.
Did Kara really....?)
“So what? You decided to recruit Nia to pretend to be a mystical woman? To prove what exactly?”
Kara, surprisingly, looks smug. “You recognized her. I knew it. She was way off script on the phone call, and I tried to get her off the phone but she—”
“—Kara, focus. So the whole soulmate thing was fake?”
Kara winces at that. “Well. Yes, technically.” She stills, coming to a stop several feet in front of Lena. “I asked a few people to help out.”
“Wait, so the two people in the tea shop…” Lena trails off, eyes wide.
“Right, two DEO agents. They should definitely look into acting as a career, I mean they had me convinced, and I knew it was fake—”
“—and Jess?” Lena asks, feeling vaguely overwhelmed.
“Special temporary tattoos made by the DEO, easy to rub off, for both her and her partner.” When Lena is silent a touch too long, Kara rushes to explain. “I mean, it was very hard to convince her to do it. She’s incredibly protective of you, she deserves some kind of raise.”
“She does,” Lena agrees absently, getting to her feet and gesturing towards the red string in Kara’s hand. “And this?”
“We weren’t supposed to get to this. I’d hoped the first two would convince you Nia could honestly see soulmates. I was going to tie it to your pinky. The other end would be connected to me, of course,” she raises her hand with an awkward wave. “But you, um. Caught me.”
Lena bites her lip, marvelling at the sheer amount of work Kara and the others put into this. “Who made the websites? They were perfect.”
“Brainy made them,” Kara explains, a frown appearing on her lips and a crease forming between her brows. “Though I guess he made it too well, since you were suspicious of it.”
“Kara, I—” Lena’s not sure what she wants to say, and she’s glad when Kara interrupts her, taking a step closer, looking at her with an earnest expression.
“Listen,” she says, determination etched onto her features. “I love you. In a romantic way. And if there are soulmates out there, then you’re mine. That’s all this was.”
Lena feels tears well up in her eyes, blurring her vision, and she wants to duck her head, to hide, but Kara is there and saying everything she’s ever wanted to hear, and so instead she just closes the last of the distance between them and wraps her arms around Kara, holding her close, face burrowing into Kara’s neck. “All of this just to say I love you seems a bit dramatic,” she whispers, feeling Kara’s arms go around her waist, clutching her tighter.
“I figured you’d need something dramatic to believe it’s true,” Kara jokes, loosening her hold just a bit so that she can pull back and look at Lena.
“You’re my soulmate too, you know. If there are things like that out there. It was always just you.”
Kara grins brilliantly at her, pressing their foreheads together. “Finally,” she whispers.

Interview
Tumblr media
Keanu Reeves x Reader
Request: can I please ask for a Keanu Reeves imagine where him and Yn first met on the set of Bill and Ted and have been married since then (I saw Bill and Ted face the music and thought it'd be cute for them to do an interview behind the scene about how special this movie is for them , and how their kids are there as well as extras)
“Thank you very much, Mr. and Mrs. Reeves.” said the interviewer as he sat down. “I’m such a big fan.” The young man was all smiles and so kind.
“Thank you.” said Keanu as he adjusted his shirt. You also smiled at the interviewer as he smiled at you.
“Nice to meet both of you. So, they are just setting up the cameras, but once they are done we should be ready to go. I have a couple questions nothing too serious.”
You had done many interviews in your life, but never one like this. He was so confident yet shy. You liked him, he sort of reminded you of your oldest.
“Sure, let’s do this.” said Keanu as he moved his hand to hold yours. You caught a glimpse of his wedding band due to the strong lights in the room.
After he got the ‘go ahead’ the interview started.
“I’m here with Keanu Reeves and Y/N Reeves, who are just in the middle of shooting the sequel to honestly one of my favourite movies, Bill and Ted. How do you find this experience to be?”
“Oh, I love it. Honestly getting back to a character that I played years ago is really something.” said Keanu.
“Yes, I also enjoy every second of it very much, it’s also nice to see some people who were working on the first movie.”
“I’m happy to hear that. I also know that the first and even the second movie was a rather important one in your lives.”
“That’ correct. I met this beautiful woman during the shooting of that film, and we have been together since.”
“Since 1989, yes.” you said nodding.
“Wow. And both of you come so far. With both of you being in countless hit movies. Do you find the experience rather nostalgic or do you feel how much you have grown as actors?”
“Well, for me, both. Seeing everyone and just being here makes me feel like back in the days you know? But I can definitely feel how I changed.” said Keanu before you answered.
“Definitely both for me as well. You know we actually have our two sons on set as extras, as a nice Easter egg for the fans.”
“Really? Was it their idea or yours?”
“Theirs. So, I told them that Keanu and I have this movie coming up and as soon as I said the title, they literally begged us to be in the movie. And since we are good friends with the director, they let them come.”
“How old are they by the way?” you noticed that he completely abandoned his cards and was now asking whatever came to his mind.
“Our oldest is 19 this year and the younger boy is 16.” Keanu answered as the proud father he was.
“You must be very proud, to have them here and be so interested.”
“We are. It’s truly something else. Not like when we filmed John Wick. They weren’t interested at all, but then, they watched it, and they just had to come to the set for the second and third one.” Keanu said laughing a little.
“Yes, and it’s very nice to meet Alex as well. We have talked over the years, but this is something different.”
“So, we can all agree that the Bill and Ted trilogy is something very special for the whole Reeves family.”
“That would be accurate, yes.” said Keanu and the interviewer was soon asked to leave.
“Thank you very much for your time. I can feel that this movie will be just as amazing.” he said as he shook both of your hands.
At the end of the interview, you made your way back to the hotel. Your sons shared a room right next to yours.
“We should go and have dinner. I saw the menu for today, looked very good.” you said as the elevator door closed. Keanu only nodded.
“Let’s get the boys too.” he said.
It ended up with only you and Keanu in the restaurant of the hotel. The boys said they already ate as they were playing with something on the Tv. And since you wanted to spend a bit alone time with your lovely husband, you didn’t argue.
With a nice glass of champagne poured out for the both of you, you held your glass up and said.
“To the movie that started our lives.”
“To the movie.” said Keanu as your glass met his. You face hurt from smiling so much all day, but how could you not?

Sweet 16.
Supercorp, Kara Danvers x Daughter!Reader, Lena Luthor x Daughter!Reader
Word count: 2430.
“Hey! There she is!” Kara opens her arms excitedly when you walk home from school.
“Here I am.” You answer unaware of why she’s so excited. It’s just a normal day.
“Your birthday is in a few days.” She says and you agree with your head. “Are you excited?”
“Sure.” It’s what your mouth says. But what your face says it’s ‘whatever’.
“I see that.” She waits until you’re seated to reach out from the other side of the counter and hold your chin up on her hand. “What’s wrong, little one?”
“Nothing’s wrong, momma.” You shrug. “It’s just a birthday. Just another day.”
“It is absolutely not just another day!” She lets go of your face and makes her way around the counter to reach you. “It is the day that the person I love the most in the universe finally came into my life.” She hugs tight and you smile.
“Mom’s birthday is still a few months away.” You joke and Kara squints her eyes at you.
“I’m serious, baby.” She sits next to you with the biggest smile on her face. “What do you want in your party?”
“I don’t know.” You shrug again. “Can I ask for anything?” She agrees with a nod. “Ok. Then, how about for my party, we don’t have one?”
Kara’s face drops when you say that, and she looks disappointed. You don’t want a party, honestly your birthday will be like every other birthday. Alex, Kelly and Jamie come over, Kara buys all the food in the universe, Lena buys all the presents in the universe, and that’s it. You’re fine with how things are. Besides, who else would you invite to the party anyway? Lillian Luthor? It’s a laughable thought.
“Just us family having dinner is enough.” You reassure her.
“Fine.” She still pouts though. “What do you want as a birthday gift?” Another shrug. “How about that video game you told me about?”
“Nah. Jamie already got it for her birthday and we usually play it together anyway.”
“Ok.” Kara agrees with her head and thinks some more. “A new phone?”
“Mine is fine.”
“A car?” She tries with a chuckle and you laugh too.
“I can fly.” You get up from the stool. “A hug will do. Oh, and maybe I can skip school?”
“That’s it? As your birthday present you want me to let you skip class?”
“No. I want you to convince mom to let me skip class.” You raise your eyebrows a couple of times at her and she agrees with her head. You kiss her cheek. “Don’t stress about it. Really. It’s just another day.”
You go to your room and lay in bed thinking about this ‘just another day’. You remember you were once so excited about birthdays. As a kid you would get up before your moms, run to their bedroom, climb on their bed and wake them up yelling ‘it’s my birthday!’. You could never wait until later to open all your presents (Lena would always save the best one for the party), and you would annoyingly tell every single person you saw that it was your day. Now the only thing you want is sleep until late and maybe go to your lab alone.
You were so anxious for leaving the whole ‘birthday conversation’, you didn’t eat and you’re starving. So, you wait a little until you see Kara is not in the kitchen anymore and you sneak there.
“Kara. What’s-?” You hear Lena’s voice from the living room. You’re not using your super hearing, they’re just close enough. “What’s all this?”
“Look at her, Lena.” You use your x-ray vision and you see a bunch of photo albums on the table. “Look at this cute little bean, all excited about her birthday.”
“Yeah, God. She loves it so much.” Lena agrees, grabbing one of the albums to look at it.
“Loved it.” Kara corrects her with a sigh. “She just told me she doesn’t want a party, and as a birthday gift she wants to not have to go to school.”
“What? Why? Do you think there is something going on at school?” Lena asks and you sit closer to hear their conversation without them seeing you. Honestly, you’re so good at eavesdropping you don’t even need powers for that.
“I don’t know. I think she just doesn't want to think about this day, you know?” Kara sighs and holds one of your pictures up. “I get it though. I mean, just look at this little smooch. Rao, she’s so big now. She is doing great with her powers; she has her own lab.”
“Yeah. She is smart, independent, strong, caring…” Lena completes the thought and you smile to yourself.
“Soon enough she’ll go to college and like…” You can hear Kara choking a little and you know she’s crying. “She won’t need me anymore. And I’ll be here all alone.”
“Why, thank you, honey.” Lena says ironically.
“Alone with you.” Kara adds trying to make her feel better.
“Oh yeah, that’s a lot better.” Lena breathes deep and wipes Kara’s tears. “Let’s not think about this now, ok? Let’s think about what we can do to make her enjoy her birthday like she used to.”
“I don’t want to push her into this. If she’s not feeling it, maybe we should let it be.” Kara closes one of the albums. “If not going to school and a family dinner is all she wants…”
“Wait, what? You can’t be serious. You really don’t want to throw her a party? You? Of all people?” Lena asks, surprised.
“Don’t look so shocked.” Kara crosses her arms. “If she wants to pretend that she’s not getting older, I’m fine with that. We can go on pretending she’s still 15 for years, that way she will never leave me.”
“Kara, this is not about you.” Lena does her whole ‘business woman’ pose. Crossed legs, fingers intertwined placed perfectly on top of her knee and serious expression. “Our daughter is incredible, and she can’t get stuck here because we’re unable to let her go. She deserves to see and save the world. She deserves to create incredible things and make the world better. We can’t get in the way of that.”
“I know, but…” Kara is still crying. “She is my baby. And I love her so much, and I want to be around her all the time. Maybe… Maybe we could build a time machine and relive her childhood all over again?”
“I don’t think you know how time machines work.”
“Fine. Then maybe I could go to college with her. You know, I’ll sign up for some classes and…”
“Yeah right, because that’s exactly what she will want. Go to college with her momma.” Lena hugs her and gets close to her ear. “I can think of a few things we could do to have fun when she goes off to college.”
Ew. No. You get up from where you’re sitting and grab a bag of chips and go back to your bedroom. This just turned R18+ super fast, you don’t want and shouldn’t listen anymore.
Your birthday came along really fast. None of your moms mentioned anything about a party, and Kara only said that your family was coming for dinner, so apparently, they decided to respect your wishes.
“It’s your birthday!” Kara walks in your room early in the morning, you wake up with a smile. She throws confetti in your face and you laugh. “Happy birthday, not-so little one.”
“Still little, momma.” She jumps in bed next to you and hugs you. “Thank you.”
“Happy birthday, babygirl.” Lena walks in the room and you see she has a box on her hands. “No peeking!”
“Uh, is that my present?” You raise one eyebrow and she agrees with her head.
“Guess what it is.” Kara says next to you and you shrug.
“Donuts?” You ask with a smile, but they shake their heads in denial at the same time. “Birthday cake?” Another no with their heads. “Cupcakes?”
“It’s not food.” Lena answers and comes next to you.
“Oh, then you guys probably didn’t get me what I wanted.” You joke and Kara laughs next to you. “Unless is a dog.”
“Definitely not a dog.” Lena gives you the box and you hug her to say thank you. She kisses your forehead. “I hope you like it, baby.”
“Cool, thanks mom.” You smile at Lena and then turn to Kara. “Now for your birthday gift to me. Did you do it? Did you talk to her?”
“Yes, kid. You don’t have to go to school today.” Kara agrees with her head and you smile.
“Well, thanks for the gifts. Now I’m going back to sleep, because I don’t have to wake up early today. I love you both. Happy birthday to me, yay!” You say not excitedly and put the blanket over your head, so they can take the hint and leave you to go back to sleep.
You wake up hours later and you’re starving. You joked about donuts and birthday cake, but you kind of wish they actually bought those. You hear the doorbell and Lena yells it’s for you, so you get out of your pajamas in a flash and run to the front door.
“Grandmother?” Your eyes grow bigger and you look at your mom next to you, still holding the door open.
“Granddaughter.” She answers with a tiny smile. “Do you mind if we speak out here for a minute?”
You look at Lena for permission. She gives you a little nod, and you take that as incentive. So you go out the door, and Lena closes it, to give you guys some more privacy.
“I just came by to wish you a happy birthday. It’s a very important age.” Lillian says and you smile.
“It’s just another year.” You shrug and she shakes her head.
“I suppose.” She clears her throat and you see she has something in her hands, and it’s carefully wrapped in a red and blue paper. “I wouldn’t know what’s important for a kid, anyhow.” She takes a deep breath. “I hope you enjoy it.”
She hands you the box and you so desperately want to lower your glasses to make sure it’s not a kryptonite bomb inside, but you refrain from doing so. You don’t want to seem impolite. You unwrap the paper and see a video game console, also red and blue. You smile.
“I remembered you told me you made one videogame and, well, the guy at the store told me this one sells well with kids.” She says and you beam at her. You almost feel like hugging her, but you don’t want to impose, so the smile will have to do.
“Thank you. It’s amazing, really.” She agrees with her head, looking proud of herself.
“A book would be better, but I don’t think you can get any smarter.”
“I could. But I would be unbearable.” You laugh and she smiles lightly. Kara lands on the doorstep at the moment.
“Lillian.” Kara says as a hello. Lillian turns back to her, adjusting the clothes on her body, looking nervous.
“Supergirl.” She replies, bitterly. Then turns back at you. “Well, happy birthday.” She mentions to leave, but before she tilts her head. “Granddaughter.”
“Thanks.” You salute her off. “Grandmother.”
Lillian makes her way to the black car parked in front of the driveway. Kara hugs you sideways and you get inside the house. You see her looking at the console on your hands.
“Birthday present.” You smile showing it to her.
“The one you wanted.” She stares at it for a while. Then agrees with her head, like she had just checked for bombs and it’s safe.
“Guess who just landed in the backyard?” Lena asks and you furrow your brows.
“COUSIN!” Superboy walks in all dressed in his stupid super hero clothes and you toss the video game to Kara and run to hug him.
“What are you doing here?” You ask surprise and stop smiling for a second. “Oh no, what have you done?”
Everyone laughs, well aware of his reputation, Conner also laughs and messes with your hair.
“It’s your birthday, lab rat! You actually think I would miss that?” He smiles and whispers in your ear. “I also know your moms buy the most delicious food for this day.”
“It’s true!” Kara agrees from the other side, proving there’s no way you can keep a secret from her. “I just went to Italy and picked up all of her favorites. Everyone else is already on their way, so we’ll eat in a while.”
“Your mom’s the best.” Conner says, making Kara smile, very proud of herself.
“Your uncle is also the best.” You hear behind you and you look at Superman standing on the backyard door with a smile.
“Kal!” You run to him and hug him tightly. You haven’t seen him in such a long time. Kara shows up behind you.
“Hey Kal.” You let go of him and Kara hugs him. You look at Conner and you both go to the living room, and let the grown-ups talk. You show Conner your new video game and you both play with it until the doorbell rings.
“I’ll get it.” You run to the door and see aunt Alex, aunt Kelly, Jamie and Eliza on the other side. “GRAMM!”
“Hi sweetheart.” Eliza smiles and kisses the top of your head. She looks at your surprised face. “What? You thought I wouldn’t come to your birthday?” You’re so happy. You can’t believe she left Midvale just to see you. “Happy birthday, sweetie.”
“Thanks Gramm.” You say and she goes inside.
“Happy birthday, kiddo.” Aunt Alex hugs you and your smile just grows bigger and bigger.
“Happy birthday, little Danvers.” Jamie hugs you and whispers in your ear. “If you leave me alone in school again, I’ll murder you.”
Aunt Kelly also wishes you happy birthday and you all go inside the house. You’re almost back in the living room when the doorbell rings again, and Nia and Brainy come inside too.
When you finally reach the living room, you see three shadows running around and you smile. Soon, the whole place is ready. There are balloons, a happy birthday banner, and the biggest birthday cake you’ve ever seen. You thought you had no one to invite to your party, but now looking at the full house, you smile to yourself. Your whole family is here. And they are amazing.

Request: Anonymous - “Can you do a Baby Danvers, where she becomes a vigilante and she fights alongside her sisters and the rest of Team Supergirl, Alex is a vigilante too. Then, after their last fight they have a sister's night”
Taglist: @captain-josslett @aznblossom @multi-images
The mid-afternoon in National City was cold and unsettled on the day after Valentine’s day. Couples walked down the main streets of the city with smiles on their faces. While vigilantes and superheroes rounded the city.
Valentine's day has been as boring as always. Unlucky for you all of your relationships happened during the rest of the year and with that, you had never been with anyone during the holiday.
Last night, you had the same great company you had every year since Kara arrived to earth. The two of you stuffed your face with candy, pastries, pizza, and potstickers as you watched rom-com movies and sang to Taylor Swift. It could be called a sister's night but since Alex actually had a girlfriend and had things to do you guys didn't.
The day after valentine's, it would take the two of you a lot to get up. A day full of stomach aches for you while Kara was exhausted but perfectly fine.
Bank robberies, kidnappings, fires, and rogue aliens had been occupying all of your’s and your sisters' day. Snow covers your black boots as you come down off the motorcycle, seeing both of your sisters in a fully engaged fight with the white martian.
Moving your glance to find any civilians in danger, you find three kids under a truck trying to shield themselves from the fight. You ran to them, from the side of the road, as another white martian arrived at the scene. You kneeled under the truck, putting one of your hands out to help a little girl, who was clinging to her teddy bear shivering before urgently speaking. “Come on, little ones. Let's get you out all out of here”
The little girls and the boy started to crawl out of the car when you heard the scream of an older woman. Looking at your side, the white martian infrared was being thrown by supergirl to the other side of the street, your side of the street.
Quickly touching your watch a force shield protected the car when the white martian tried to land on it. Your head snapped immediately when you heard the strong voice of Supergirl. “I think that's enough for both of you!”
“Okay, come on. Let's get you to your parents” You said as the force field came down and both Alex and Kara were arresting both of the rogue aliens. The kids standing shivering as you spoke.
You walked to the worried parents giving them a small smile when the kids ran into their arms. It reminded you of when you were growing up, and after each game, or show you would run into your parents and your sisters' arms with a warm smile.
“You gotta be kidding me!” You exclaim, when one of the white Martians breaks the cuffs and throws your Kryptonian sister to a building. While Alex gave a tranquilizer to the other one.
You ran up to the alien and hit him with one of the laser guns Brainy had made for the tower. When the alien glared at you, you grabbed the bombs of light and smoke and threw one in his face before throwing a white cube to him, shrinking him.
You laughed when you saw Kara groaning as she touched her head, and Alex was infuriated because the now unconscious white martian had hit her in the face.
Both of their heads snapped to you, in their way to scold you since you aren't supposed to laugh in the job only to be stopped by the voice of J’onn in the comms. “We got a bar fight in M’gann’s, can you guys take that?”
“With pleasure papa bear,” You said as you winked to your sisters while getting into the motorcycle. Kara and Alex shaking their heads with a smile before you left.
------
You entered the bar, this time without a mask covering your face and your casual clothes.  The smell of beer and tobacco immediately hit you as you did. The low blimming-colored lights overwhelmed your sight as you entered. Two mixed groups of men, aliens, and humans, with their chest puffing out and glares on their faces. You walked closer when one of the humans threw the punch at another guy.
The moment you intervene in the fight by grabbing one of the guy’s fists. The other 4 looked at you as if you had three heads before laughing. You rolled your eyes before interfering. “Take it outside, or don't take anywhere”
“And who the hell are you to tell us, what to do?” The guys resisting taking his fist from your hand said, before you
“As my sister once said, I can be a real puppy or your worst nightmare in less than two seconds.” You grinned sarcastically before letting go and pointing to the door.
The tall guy groaned as he saw the red and purple in his hand. Immediately launching his other fist to your face, only for you to dodge it before exclaiming. “Didn't learn any morals as a kid?”
The brunette guy just kept trying to hit you, only landing two hits one in your chest and the other in your stomach. You kicked his leg, making him fall to the floor, and grabbed both of his hands, twisting one of them, not enough to break it but enough for it to hurt.
The two groups stood silent as you made the tall guy fall to his knees begging for you to stop. Each one of them looked scared enough as you made the tall muscled guy fall to his knees groaning in pain.
“We don't grab, hit, or even touch anyone, sweetheart” You stoop close, pressing with more force into your arm. Unknowing the two figures standing behind you, one with a frown and the other with a proud smile as you spoke.
You grinned sarcastically when you heard your blonde sister call your name. Making you step away with the classic Danvers smile, walking up to your sister giving Alex a high five, as Kara looked at both of you rolling her eyes “Y/N”
“Now, why don't you get out of here, before I show you out” You quickly adjusted your oversize jean jacket, before speaking. Changing your whole dementor from bad cop to good baby cop.
The two groups of guys left in a hurry without further to say or do. The moment the guys were out of the room, you felt a hand hit you on the back of your head. Scoffing, you turned around to find Alex with a proud slight smile, and Kara with a scolding face on.
You didn't need to ask who was the one to hit your head, you already knew. Without any hesitation, you clenched your hand and fit your oldest sister in the shoulder making the blonde reporter huff in disagreement when you and Alex started to share punches.
Your blonde sister just claims before walking away. You and Alex look at each other before running after her, because of the threat. Not without giving each other slight punches and pushes in the way “If you guys don't stop and meet me at the Tower, I'm getting all of the potstickers tonight”
----
You walk inside of J’onn’s office to see the place as quiet as usual, putting your hand in the criminal justice book, making the blinds close and the Tower’s door open.
Kara and Alex were standing right next to J’onn or as you call him, papa bear or space dad. Nia and Lena were on the side of a medical table as Lena made adjustments to Dreamers suit and Brainy was invested in a slang book you had given him for New Year’s.
You made your presence known as you put a big take-out bag on the table as you claimed. The smell of Chinese food evaded the air. “Thought, you guys would need a little fuel if we are working tonight”
“Thank you, Y/N,”  J’onn said with a smile as you gave him a side hug.
“You are very welcome, space dad” You res[onded as the two of you pulled away, to see both of your sisters with challenging looks.
Your blonde sister said as she crossed her arms over the chest and looked at you with a serious expression. “Did you really have to embarrass the poor guy? He was trembling”
“I didn't have to, but I wanted to. He was the proper description of a frat boy” You claimed, shrugging your shoulders as you walked closer to them with a satisfied smirk on your face.
“You dated one-” Alex started giving you a look of challenge.
You responded as you held your hands up, making Alex laugh. “Yeah, before having my incredible awakening of good dating taste”
“Next time just keep it a 3” Kara said to you before cleaning her glass with her shirt as she gave you a known look of protection.
“Nixt timi jist kiip it a 3” You murmured, making your blonde older sister glare daggers at you. Alex shocked her head at both of your tactics and grabbed you by the hood of your hoodie, as Kara took her tongue out to you and you did the same.
“We are going to go before Kara and Y/N get hangry. Call if there is an emergency” She exclaimed before letting you go, as the three of you walked out of the office with your civilians' clothes.
------
The three of you were sitting in Kara’s apartment, bags and boxes of takeout surrounding you guys, as you ate potstickers, pizza, wings, and ice cream. Laughs and giggles filled the ears in the room. The smell of fast greasy, and sweet food evaded your noses.
Kara at your right side and Alex in front of you. The three of you comfortably sharing on sisters' night. With comfortable and baggy close you snuggle closer to the multitude of pillows behind you as Alex debated what had happened not long ago.“I can't believe he didn't say anything to you! If that were us, he would have our heads for good”
“I’m baby Danvers, Al. Nobody can say no to me” You said as you grabbed another slice of pepperoni pizza. A smug smile on your face as you did.
“You little shit-” Alex started before going to tickle you, only to be stopped by the sound of Kara’s question.
“Can we watch The Princess diaries?” Kara asked with a pout on her face. You jumped out of your seat agreeing with the blonde, as Alex sighed deeply and agreed abruptly faking it.
Kara and you knew better, she would enjoy it as much as the two of you. Sure, Y/F/M was your favorite movie but The Princess Diaries was a classic during your childhood even when Alex and Kara had left in a hurry to college, you kept watching it as a reminder of them.
Before the redhead could respond, Kara and you grabbed the M&M’s bag and the pillows and started to throw her the things as the two of you laughed, while your oldest sister tried to not get hit by the things you guys were throwing.
You guys didn't stop until the redhead admitted she had a special place in her heart for ‘The Princess Diaries’ saga. The three of you laughed before sitting to clean the things you had thrown. In a moment Kara speeded to the kitchen and came back with the s’mores she had prepared a few seconds before.
The chocolate dripping from the cookie and the perfectly smashed marshmallow, made your stomach grumble. You looked at Kara and Alex with a shy smile before speaking up with an idea. “How many of those do you think can fit in my mouth?”
“Five” Kara shot her head up before quickly responding.
As Alex did the same but questioning your actions. “Why?”
“Just because…” You started with a pouty face, looking like a kicked puppy at Alex.
“Two, before you start gagging” After grumbling and scolding you, she claimed to be rolling her eyes as she kept drinking from the wine cup.
You gave her a challenging look before diving in, the first one was the easiest. The third and fourth ones became a little complicated as your mouth lost the majority of space, the fifth one gave you chills as it entered your mouth. You looked up and smiled watching as Alex records you on her phone with a disapproving face but a small smile behind it.
After eating half of them and throwing up the other half, Kara hugged you tightly as she spun you around making you giggle as she did. The blonde tickled you into the couch where you fell and grabbed a pillow throwing it at her.
The three of you shared a small moment with smiles on your faces, warmness spread to your chest as the three of you shared a small ‘I love you’
Kara put the movie through and the three of you were snuggling together on her couch, still sharing the food you had ordered, and every once in a while a small joke during it.
Kara held you close to her chest as you started to fall asleep after the middle of the first movie. You heard the blonde and the redhead slightly talking as you fell into unconsciousness. Both of your sisters gave you a forehead kiss, before Kara pulled you up, taking you to her bed and covering you in the blankets.
Small smiles on their faces, when the two of them saw you hug the pillow at your left side just like you did when you were a kid. The blanket covering you completely, only leaving you outside your head. Your soft grumbles made them laugh before they looked at each other. Alex speaking up first “Y/N is always going to be our baby, Danvers”
“Yeap, always and forever” Kara responded nodding, hugging the redhead with a smile.
And they were right, you had always been and always would be their baby sibling. The three of you came in a package and it was never going to change. Neither their protectiveness of you and the annoyance they transmit to you every single day. But you were fine with that, there were pros and cons of being a family and for you, your family had always been the best one, and that was never going to change.

Prom Night!
(ao3)
word count: 2k
rating: T
Shoutout to @krdnvrs for being my number one fan and cheerleader on all of my random ideas, and for listening to me complain. Another thanks to @red-cape-morgana for being my glorified cheerleader ;)
They were in Midvale, working a case, when it happened.
Somehow Lex managed to lace the water supply with kryptonite, the team got wind of it, and so they went to investigate.
Lena, now an integral part of the team, tagged along.
Alex, J’onn, Brainy, and Nia went first to make sure everyone was safe and that the kryptonite wouldn’t harm anyone, while also checking to see what kind of kryptonite it was and how it would affect Kara.
Kara and Lena are staying back at the town line. Waiting patiently. Some more than others.
“Will you please stop pacing? You’re stressing me out,” Lena rubs at her temples.
Kara stops mid-step, skidding on the loose gravel, and sighs. “I’m sorry. I’m just really anxious right now, and I’m scared of what they might find. I mean, what if—Eliza lives here! I can’t just—
“Hey,” Lena interrupts by placing both hands on Kara’s forearms. “It’ll be fine. Eliza isn’t even here. She’s out of town, remember?”
Kara lets out a deep breath and nods.
“Can I—Kara, can I give you a hug?” she asks, timidly. Lena won’t openly admit it, but Kara’s the only one she openly and freely gives hugs to. Anyone else and it’s touch and go.
Kara smiles, “Duh! You don’t even have to ask, you know that.” She wrangles her arms out from Lena’s hands and wraps her own around the CEO’s shoulders, burying her face in raven hair.
Lena grips her hands tightly around the hero’s back and inhales deeply, the sweet smell of honey and lavender from the blonde's shampoo, and the hint of earth which makes Kara, Kara.
The moment was quickly disrupted by a chirping in Kara’s ear. She steps back slightly so one arm is still resting on Lena’s shoulders while the other presses the comm. “Alex?”
Lena is moderately perturbed at Alex in this moment, but doesn’t let it show. Instead, she loosens her grip and slides her hands to rest on Kara’s hips, giving them a reassuring squeeze.
“You guys should head into town,” Alex supplies.
“What is it?” Kara asks while absentmindedly playing with Lena’s hair.
“Everything’s fine, but you’re gonna wanna see this for yourself.”
Kara frowns. “Okay, we’ll be there shortly.” She clears her throat and Lena eyes her warily.
“So?” Lena steps back and crosses her arms in front of her chest.
“Alex says she has something to show us,” Kara replies. “So,” she moved her arms in a swooping gesture, “Ready to go?”
Lena shakes her head. “No. We are not flying there.”
“Suit yourself,” Kara laughs and begins to take off. Lena stops her with a hand on the wrist before she can. “Change your mind?”
“Just promise to go slow,” Lena huffs, giving Kara permission to scoop her up bridal style.
“Yes, ma’am,” she smirks.
___
“Blue kryptonite?”
Alex nods.
“What is his endgame?”
Alex puffs her cheeks up and releases hot air. “It seems he wants to get rid of your powers. And apparently he thought starting here would be the best course of action, knowing you grew up here and you’d come this way. Fool proof plan, really.” A sudden serious look clouds over her. "And I have a feeling this is only the first step in his nefarious plans."
Kara groans, "Well, is everyone okay at least?" She puts her hands on her hips, in the classic hero pose.
"As far as we know, it doesn't have any negative effects on humans. In fact, we think it does the opposite."
"Of course!" Lena interjects from her spot. She's stayed quiet and let the sisters discuss things, until now she remembers information that could help.
"Lena?" Kara raises her eyebrows in question.
"When Lex was researching ways to hurt Superman, he discovered blue kryptonite," she rolls her eyes. "Blue kryptonite can drastically improve the health of any non-Kryptonian organism, such as livestock, crops, and humans. Continual consumption of blue kryptonite-irradiated water puts humans in a perfect state of health. I'm almost positive he's been drinking the stuff for years."
"Well, fuck," Alex huffs.
Lena shakes her head. "I wouldn't worry about it too much. It doesn't make him super-powered or anything. Actually, now that I think about it, the blue rock makes humans more prone to mental irregularities. If that's the case, it would explain a lot."
"Is there a way to counteract it?" Kara asks.
Lena sighs. "If I'm hypothesizing correctly, I'd bet my life on lead getting the job done."
Kara nods and looks to Alex. "Okay. You got all the rock bagged up then?" Alex nods. "How long until the water supply is back to normal?"
"A week? Maybe two. Just don't go drinking the water at mom's house, got it?"
"I'll stick to bottled," Kara smirks.
___
As they’re flying to Eliza's later that night, Kara notices her old high school is bustling with people and everyone is gussied up. She gasps loudly in Lena’s ear. “Lena, look!”
“What?”
“It’s prom night!” she slows down and finds a spot behind some bushes for cover. Once grounded she practically beams. “Let’s break in!"
Lena guffaws.
Kara stares at her with a gleaming twinkle in her eyes.
“Are you serious?” She asks incredulously.
Kara nods furiously like a bobble head. “Yeah, totally! I remember you telling me once how you never went to prom, and then I promised you if the opportunity ever arises I’d take you myself. And I'd dance with you.”
“You said no such thing,” Lena states, highly amused.
“Okay, well," Kara visibly flusters, "Maybe I never said that part out loud, but I still thought it in my head. And...I mean it.”
“Kara, that’s very sweet, but look at us,” she gestures between them, “I’m dressed like I’m ready for a board meeting, and you,” she glances around to make sure no one can see or hear them and whispers, “You’re Supergirl.”
Kara looks down and pouts, “Oh. Right.” It doesn’t keep her down for long though, because she speeds away and comes back in a dress before Lena can even blink.
“Wow. Don’t think I’ll ever get used to that,” Lena chuckles. “You didn’t think to grab anything for me?”
The hero frowns while looking Lena up and down with an intense gaze, causing Lena to feel immensely self-conscious. With a finger to her chin Kara says, “I think you look perfect. You’re basically wearing a suit, anyway, just one that probably costs more than anyone in that building can afford.”
Lena raises her eyebrows haughtily.
“Shall we?” Kara holds out her arm.
Lena rolls her eyes fondly, before relaxing, and hooks her arm through the blonde’s. “Alright, MacGyver, how are we doing this?”
“Easy,” Kara shrugs. “I’ll just open the door to the gym with my super strength, and sneak in the back. Piece of cake.”
“Famous last words.”
___
“Ha! Told you we could do it!” Kara exclaims as they make their way through the gym, where fairy lights are strewn about everywhere, and the ceiling is decorated with cheesy cotton drapes. Surprisingly, no one even notices the two women, and if they do they don’t care.
“The night is still young,” Lena points out.
“Oh quit being a downer,” Kara teases. As they find a secluded spot in the corner, a slow song starts to play. The lights cast a glow on Lena making her seem ethereal, and Kara gapes in awe.
"You look beautiful, Lena."
"I could say the same for you," she blushes.
“May I have this dance?” Kara playfully bends forward with one hand outstretched.
“You’re such a goober,” Lena laughs and takes her hand.
They slow dance for a while, the heat between them hanging in the air. As soon as Kara thinks about asking Lena the question that's been niggling her for the past few months, she notices a man poking around in the corner of her eye. He makes eye contact with her and begins making his way toward them. Kara panics.
“There’s a man coming our way. What do we do? He’s probably gonna kick us out!”
“Shit, I don’t know! This was your idea!” Lena hisses.
Kara thinks fast and makes a decision. A decision she never thought would happen, here in Midvale, in her high school gymnasium of all places. A decision that will inevitably change their lives forever.
“Do you trust me?”
“With my life,” Lena answers immediately, with a wistful smile plastered on her face.
Kara nods and takes a moment to compose herself. Just a tiny moment. Because they’re kind of running out of time here. Before she can second-guess herself, she takes Lena’s face in her hands and kisses her.
She kisses her like her life depends on it. She’s waited for this moment for so long and it’s finally here. At a high school prom she wasn't even invited to. The thought makes her want to laugh. But she can't, because she's kissing Lena. And Lena is kissing her back with just as much ferocity! It’s funny, she never imagined she’d be back here, years later, with the prettiest woman in the universe at her side, yet that’s what was in the cards for her.
When what feels like minutes of absolute heaven go by, Kara pulls back slightly, breathing heavy. She slowly opens her eyes and whispers, “Do you think it worked?”
“Excuse me?”
The voice startles them from their little bubble and makes the women jump apart in surprise.
"Gosh, you scared the crap outta me," Kara shudders, clutching at her heart. She gathers her wits and when she sees the man, realization slowly dawns on her. "Kenny?"
The man, presumably Kenny, frowns. "I'm sorry, do we know each other?"
"It's Kara. Kara Danvers!" she smiles with hesitancy. The gears in Kenny's head start turning and he puts his hands on his head in utter bewilderment.
"Kara!"
Being the tactile person she is, Kara envelops him in a bone crushing hug. When they pull back she asks, "What are you doing here?"
"I'm the principal," he replies bashfully. Kenny smirks and tilts his head. "What are you doing here?"
Kara blushes a deep red and clears her throat. "Um, well...I'm just visiting, actually." She adjusts her glasses awkwardly. "You know, see how everyone's doing since I left..."
"And who's this?" Kenny asks, peering behind her, effectively cutting off the inevitable ramble about to happen.
The blonde swallows. "Oh geez, where are my manners?" she bonks herself on the head and turns to Lena. Kara gently pushes her forward by the small of her back, and rests her hand there. "Lena, this is my friend Kenny from high school. Kenny, this is my....Lena..."
Lena chuckles and holds out her hand. “Lena Luthor. Nice to meet you.” His grip is firm when they shake hands.
“Pleasure’s all mine,” he replies.
Kara grins after seeing her former (dead?) best friend meet her current best friend (maybe more?) chat with one another.
She explains why they’re there and that they essentially snuck in.
“I won’t tell a soul. You have my word,” Kenny winks at them. “Keep in touch, yeah?” Kara nods enthusiastically, and gives him one last hug before departing to the other end of the gym, where he sees a student spiking the punch bowl.
"So..." Lena starts, "That's the Kenny you told me about?"
Lena notices Kara's eyes crinkle and one corner of her mouth lifts up, in that cute way it does when she's thinking deeply about something. "Yeah. He died though, in my timeline." She frowns, and her eyes dart around the floor like the cracks and scratches have all the answers. "This whole universe...reset...thing is mind-boggling."
Lena reaches up and rubs softly at Kara's little crinkle with the pad of her thumb. When it disappears, she drops her hand and plays with the blonde's fingers instead. "Nothing's ever easy in our lives, is it?"
Kara hums an affirmation in response.
"You can tell me about it, if you'd like," Lena offers.
"That'd be nice," Kara smiles, then like a flip of a switch she's throwing her a flirty smirk. "But not right now," she joins their other hands together and pushes them forward and back, as if they're on the cusp of telling each other exciting news.
"No?" Lena plays along.
"Nope," she raises their hands up so Lena's rest on her shoulders, and Kara pulls her forward by the waist. "I was kinda hoping we could talk about that kiss."
"Mhmm, I was wondering if you were gonna bring that up," she inches closer so her forehead touches Kara's, and she encircles her arms around her neck, the distance between them practically nonexistent.
"I should've asked," she connects her hands on the other woman's back.
Lena shakes her head, the action causing their noses to bump. "You never have to ask to kiss me." Before Kara can properly respond, Lena connects their lips together again, shutting her up in the best way possible.
They still have a lot of things to figure out, a lot of demons to fight-both literally and figuratively-but Lena relishes in the thought that at least she has Kara.
At least they're doing it together.
After all, it is their life motto: stronger together.

Where'd the Hours go? - Chapter 3 Dadschlatt College Au
Read it on ao3 here or on my wattpad here!
Other Chapters: 1 ✧ 2 ✧
WARNINGS FOR: Implied Child Neglect, Smoking, Swearing
The toddler was dressed in an oversized green button down that- from the looks of it, was buttoned by the boy himself given that it's uneven. Everything looks so big on him and his hair is a mess. There's a red pacifier in his mouth and he's looking at Schlatt with wide brown eyes.
He's handed a black garbage bag. "What- why did you bring up trash? The bins are outside."
"It's not trash." Leslie nods to Tubbo. "It's his belongings."
Schlatt wakes up to the smell of smoke. He’s fairly confident Quackity did something stupid to set it off but he still hurries to check. He needed to be awake anyways to finish baby proofing the apartment for inspection.
The ram confirmed his suspicions when he saw Quackity in an apron he didn’t even know he owned waving away smoke coming from a pan with something so burnt Schlatt couldn’t even tell what it was.
“Y’know just knocking on my bedroom door would wake me up, no need to try and burn the damn apartment down.”
“Who knew following Ranboo’s cereal video could go so poorly?”
“That was CEREAL?” Schlatt turns back to his soon-to-be shared room, it was too early to figure out how his friend managed that. Though he’s sure there’s a good story behind it.
He gets dressed and goes to clean up the living room, Quackity focusing on trying to fix whatever crime he committed in the kitchen. They talk while they pick up, Quackity telling him what was happening in law school and Schlatt telling him about how he fell up the stairs.
“You fell UP the stairs?”
“Yes, up the stairs. Do you even listen to-”
They freeze when there’s a knock at the door. Quackity going over and shoving him towards it with a whispered “Charm her.” Before the duck makes himself scarce but thankfully, still in sight if Schlatt should need him.
He opens the door, and looks up at the woman who he assumes is the same one over the phone and steps aside to let her in.
“I’m Leslie, we spoke over the phone, yes?” She holds out her hand, shifting her clipboard further into her side.
He stares at her outstretched hand for maybe too long before realizing he’s supposed to shake it. “Yeah, I’m Schlatt that’s- that’s Alex.”
“Do you want something to drink?” Quackity asks from the kitchen, opening several cabinets looking for the cups. He opens Schlatt’s liquor cabinet and freezes, looking back at him sheepishly mouthing ‘sorry.` towards Schlatt
Schlatt tries to laugh it off, turning back to Leslie who just checks something off on her paper.
“Put a lock on it and you’re fine.” She keeps walking around, telling them a few things they might want to do. Things neither of the boys would’ve thought of like covering the open outlets.
She finishes looking around and all three of them sit at the kitchen table, the social worker passing over a custody form and a file.
“By signing this you’ll be granting custody of Tubbo, the form just needs you to promise you’ll put him in a school and allow the system to make house visits.” She passes him a pen while Quackity takes the manila folder and opens it.
“So Ms. Leslie, tell me what I’m looking at here.” Quackity has his nose almost touching the paper trying to read the small text. At the top is a small black and white photo paper clipped to the page.
“It’s nothing bad, as you can see it’s not very full. Just a few notes about his behavior and his birth certificate.” She reaches over and points at the section labeled ‘Additional comments’ “We’re not sure if he can speak, he has screaming fits over seemingly nothing, and is incredibly shy.”
“What do we do if he really can’t talk?” Schlatt pushed the forms back to her, scooting his chair towards Quackity so they could look at the file together.
“You won’t need to worry about that, he’s been through a lot. He most likely just needs some stability. Somewhere where he feels safe enough to express himself.” She puts the now signed form on her clipboard and stands up. “He just needs someone to make him feel loved, then if that doesn’t work we’ll talk about speech therapy.”
Quackity takes the small photo of Tubbo and puts it on the fridge. “Oh my god Schlatt he has little horns!”
Schlatt walks over to the fridge to get a closer look. Sure enough, even though it’s the grainiest picture he’d seen, the horns were clearly poking through the toddlers head. A hand in his mouth and wide eyes looking right at the camera, the resemblance was there.
“Poor kid, must’ve hurt to get those so early.” It hurt him to know he wasn’t there to help his kid through the painful process of growing horns.
“Remember in middle school when I had to bring you your homework because your horns were always hurting?”
“Don’t remind me.” He shuddered at the thought. He’d rather have a migraine everyday then ever go through the pain of growing horns again.
“I’ll bring him by tonight if that’s alright with you?”
“That’s great, we’ll be here.” Schlatt walks her to the door, they add each other into their respective contact lists before she’s headed back down the apartment stairs.
“She can have him here by tonight? Wow, same day delivery.”
“Didn’t you know? CPS is partnered with Amazon these days.”
“Wait, really?” Quackity slams the fridge closed and looks behind him towards Schlatt.
“No, not really, Dumbass.” Schlatt shakes his head and goes to put Tubbo’s file in the designated important stuff drawer. He hears Quackity shuffling behind him, zipping up his bookbag.
“Oh. Well this dumbass needs to go to class.”
“You’ll be done by tonight right?” Of course the duck would fail to mention he had law school today. Schlatt feels a surge of guilt when he thinks about how much stress he must be causing Quackity. He’s already balancing streaming and school, now Schlatt’s gone and dragged him into this mess as well.
“ ‘Course I will be, gotta meet my new godson.” Schlatt hands him his glasses and he’s out the door with a wave and another promise to be home to see Tubbo tonight.
Schlatt sits on the living room couch, editing a video on his laptop. His hands itch for a cigarette but he really doesn’t want a social worker to smell that on him. That’d be responsible of him, right?
He finishes a new jackbox video and passes out on the couch, only to be woken up by Quackity tossing his unreasonably heavy backpack at him. He wheezes and throws the backpack off his stomach, the books inside hitting against each other with several thuds.
“Judging by how you're sleeping right now, I guess Little T isn't here yet."
"We’re not calling him 'Little T' it doesn't even make sense. It implies there's a big T and last I checked there's only a big Q and a Big man. No T." He sits up fully, putting his elbows on his legs and leaning into his hands. He feels the couch dip as Quackity sits next to him.
"When he's big, he'll be big T, but right now he's little. So… little T."
"I'm not calling him that."
"Suit yourself."
He keeps his eyes closed, and listens to the sound of Quackity turning on the television. He never knew what the duck would play, it was always something different and usually chaotic.
The sound of one of Quackity's intros begins to play and Schlatt laughs and pushes a smug Quackity off the couch.
"Give me that remote, you've lost youtube privileges."
Schlatt leans over the couch and reaches for the remote the now floored Quackity is keeping away from him.
"My videos are not bad, and I will in fact be showing Tubbo every single one of them as soon as he gets here."
He pins Quackity's right arm and grabs the remote. He starts to laugh when he falls off the couch, joining Quackity between the coffee table and the couch.
He grips the remote tightly, careful to keep the remote close to him so the duck couldn't snatch it back. They're both sitting on the floor, facing each other with their knees against the couch base.
It's one of Quackity's older videos, Schlatt lets it play.
Another roblox raid video is about to begin when there's a knock at the door. Schlatt turns off the TV and brushes off his clothes before rushing to answer.
"Hello again." He smiles when he sees the face of the same woman that had come by earlier. He looks down and his eyes widen when he sees Tubbo.
Quackity comes up to the door. He looks at the trash bag and then to the toddler. "I mean, not what I was expecting but really what was I thinking? Not like he'd have a suitcase."
Schlatt takes the makeshift bag and sets it against the crib in his room.
He walks back out to see Leslie now holding Tubbo against her hip talking to Quackity.
The duck is nodding very seriously and copying the way the woman has her arms. Schlatt is confused about what they're doing till she carefully passes Tubbo to Quackity. His smile reaches his eyes when he manages to not drop the boy.
Tubbo doesn't seem as happy to be held, he's leaning away from Quackity and reaching for Leslie. Whining, and clearly very nervous.
Schlatt couldn't blame him, Quackity wasn't known for being careful with anything. He'd be nervous too in the toddler's situation.
"Careful with my kid, I don't want him to get dropped and then never want to be held again before I even get the chance." He walks past Quackity and Tubbo, headed towards the door. Leslie follows him.
“If it’s too much, you can always give him up.” She looks so serious Schlatt can’t look her in the eyes anymore. “Do what’s best for him, don’t let pride keep him somewhere that isn’t meeting his needs.”
Schlatt wonders if this woman was just that good at reading people or if she gives this speech to everybody. He lies through his teeth when he tells her he’d never be too proud to make the right decision. Everyone who has ever met him will tell you he thinks only with his ego.
She leaves, and as soon as he closes the door he lets out the breath he was holding and goes back to the kitchen.
“He’s light, I read that two year olds were hard to carry.”
“Maybe you’re just strong.”
Quackity readjusts so Tubbo is further up his hip. “You know that’s not true. Should we be worried he’s this light?”
Schlatt reaches his hands out, Quackity awkwardly passes Tubbo over to him. He’s no longer whining but rather is just staring at them both with wide eyes.
“Hey buddy, I know it’s a lot to take in.” He pats Tubbo on the back. “What about some dinner? Get you weighing more with a grilled cheese.”
With the help of Quackity they get Tubbo situated in the tiny booster seat. The duck sits next to the boy, handing a small stuffed animal to keep him occupied while Schlatt cooks.
He makes one for each of them and adds some fruit on the side, setting it down in front of the two before going to sit across from them.
Quackity cuts Tubbo’s into smaller bits while the toddler watches with his hand in his mouth. When Quackity finishes he takes his hands away but Tubbo makes no move to eat on his own.
Schlatt and Quackity exchange a look before the duck picks up a small piece and brings it up to Tubbo’s mouth. Gently prying the toddler’s hand away from his mouth.
Tubbo refuses to eat it. Turning away and putting his hand back in his mouth.
“I promise it tastes better than it looks, I only burned it a little bit.” Schlatt encourages him, before reaching over and taking a small piece of Tubbo’s sandwich and eating it. “See? Now you.”
Tubbo smiles a little but continues to suck on his fingers instead. Quackity and Schlatt continue eating thinking of what to try next. He didn’t want to force the kid to eat it, maybe he just didn’t like that food. Kids can be picky.
“What about some juice? Or-or some apple slices?” Quackity finishes his sandwich and goes over to the fridge taking out an apple and a caprisun.
“Quackity is offering you one of his favorite drinks, you should feel honored Tubs.” Maybe the little ram does, it’s hard to tell what he’s feeling when all he does is stare.
The apple is sliced and placed infront of him and Quackity opens the caprisun before his phone rings. “It’s Karl, I forgot I’m supposed to record with him today. Shit, hold on you two.” He goes to his room, leaving Schlatt alone, sitting across from his kid.
He stares at Tubbo, leaning back and folding his hands on the table. They stare at each other for a moment before Tubbo takes his hand out of his mouth and starts to cry.
Schlatt walks over to him and picks him up out of the seat. “No no no don’t do that don’t uh- don’t cry please?” He bounces him and pats his back but it doesn’t seem to help. The kid buries his head on Schlatt’s shoulder and sobs, and Schlatt cringes from the feeling of his slimy hands on his arm and the noise.
“Oh my god, Quackity!”
Quackity rushes out and relaxes when he sees there’s no danger. Besides the idiot in front of him. But he’s more of a danger to himself. “Maybe he’s bored? I’d cry too if I had to just sit and stare at your ugly face.”
“Bro what the fuck?”
“Just put on some of those weird kids youtube videos! Babies cry, Schlatt. It's like- 90% of what they do.”
And that’s how Schlatt ended up on the couch, watching one of those baby sensory videos with a sniffling toddler who still hadn’t eaten a damn thing.
There’s a rainbow bouncing across a black background with some soft music and for a moment Schlatt finds himself just as immersed in it.
Tubbo’s hand is back in his mouth and Schlatt notes he needs to get him something to chew on later, but for now, the poor kid needs a tissue. He leans over to the coffee table to grab one, careful not to disturb the toddler who is currently clinging to his side like a koala.
He wipes his nose, with thankfully no protest from Tubbo. Before taking another tissue and gently wiping the tear tracks away. “It’s gonna be okay, it’s- it’s okay kid.”
Tubbo puts his head against Schlatt's side, and Schlatt props his feet up on the coffee table. Getting comfortable before leaning his head back on the couch.
By the time Quackity was done recording with Karl, which was quite the struggle to do on his laptop, Schlatt and Tubbo were both asleep on the couch. He considers waking them up, but he really didn’t want Tubbo to cry again. So he brings the untouched fruit over to the living room and turns off the TV before bringing his laptop out to the couch and editing quietly next to the two.
He calls it a successful day, after all everyone was alive, right?

Whatever It Takes : RELOADED
More safe house shenanigans as the gang looks for leads.

Delayed Flight
John 'Soap' MacTavish
Task Force 141 - Disbanded
Safehouse 110197, Brazil
Soap haven't slept like this for quite a long time. He almost felt guilty that he's peacefully sleeping all while the world was in chaos.
Slowly got up after noticing that Alex and Ghost were still asleep beside him, they looked like they just slept and he didn't bother waking them up for breakfast. Another scan of the room indicated that everyone else is downstairs.
John quickly tiptoed across the room and swung the door open. On the other side of the door was France who looked focused while carrying two mugs of coffee.
"Oh! You're up!" she said in surprise as her coffee mugs wobbled. John's quick reflex immediately caught her hands and held them tight until it stabilized.
"I'm sorry I surprised you. Are you okay?" he asked worriedly, a smirk escaped his face as he noticed a faint blush from the female's cheek.
"Yeah. I brought you coffee since the hot water was almost out and you were still asleep." she stammered, not making eye contact to him. Soap looked curious, where was the woman that confidently rejected him yesterday?
"Aww. So you are concerned!" he mused, holding her hands tight, drawing the steaming coffee mug close to him.
"Not really. I just thought that you're the last one to drink some so the kettle would finally be empty. Don't get your hopes too high, MacTavish." she gently shoved him the mug and carefully stormed off. There she was, back on her guard.
"Well, thanks for the concern." He greeted as he stepped down the stairs while sipping his coffee and met with everyone in the living room.
"Aren't we supposed to do recon for Samantha?" He asked, addressing the leaders who were casually reading a newspaper.
"Negative." Jack said, not looking at the Scottish soldier.
"We still have fuel from Nikolai's plane but we can't waste in on suspicion alone. We have to get solid intel." Price added.
"So we're like chilling here. Doing nothing." He said.
"Not exactly nothing. Ghost might have a lead anytime soon. For now, why don't you run some errands. Maxine needs some things for us here." Price replied, eyes still focused on the paper.
"John?" Maxine peeked from the kitchen and both Price and Soap turned to her.
"I meant Price." she dismissed, making Soap turn away from embarrassment.
"Can I come with them instead of making a list?" she asked, Soap could see Roach behind her eyeing on the interaction.
"Sure. You've got three bodyguards with you. Just make sure you're always with at least one of them." he muttered. Beside him, Jack stood up and placed the paper on the table.
"All-righty then, I'll lead you to the town just this once. Next time out, you'll be on your own. It's quite a long walk. And you lad, dress less suspicious." he pointed to Soap's camo pants. Soap actually felt scared at Alex's former CO. His very being still intimidated the Scot.
"I'll be back in a minute." he mumbled and dashed upstairs while France walked by Maxine to the door.
~
"I know Price told us to wear civilian clothing but for some reason you still have the ability to stand out and raise suspicion." France announced as the small team of four exited the safe house en route to the nearby town.
"Is it the hair?" Soap quickly placed one of Price's bucket hats and flashed a grin at the two ladies behind him. "Happy now?" he asked.
"Aside from the fact that you're wearing a t-shirt too small for your size? Yep. When did you last buy clothes for yourself?" France replied sarcastically and asked. Maxine giggled as she walked beside her sister, something she started to accept and try to recall.
"You're just finding an excuse to look at me." He muttered as he dashed to catch up with Jack, who was peacefully enjoying the walk.
"I'm amazed as to how you two act like you're not soldiers right now. How do you do it?" Jack chuckled as he rolled his eyes to Soap's direction, trying not to laugh at the Scot. If he was being honest, the hat did him a worse job. It made his head look small and unproportional to his bulky build. He turned back to France and Maxine who were silently signaling him to keep quiet.
The road was quite long and Soap finally found a small puddle of water to look at how he looked. No wonder they were giggling. He looked like a teddy bear who had a small head.
He then shyly took off his hat and glanced back at the puddle. Maybe it was time for him to buy larger clothes.
"Yeah. Guess someone has to help me pick some clothes as well." he muttered, while France paced beside him and gave him an assuring smile.
"I could always help, John." she said cheerfully and their eyes met. John slowly felt the sincerity on her smile, his heart sped and he found himself inching his face closer to her.
"The town's almost there!" Alex yelled from the distance as the two broke their gazes toward each other and quickly caught up with the two.
Awkward silence. They walked together behind Jack and Maxine who were now discussing what Jack's interests were back in the day. Not that it mattered to John, as all his mind was thinking was this pretty lady walking beside him. He wanted to graze his hand against hers, just to feel her smooth touch, he wondered if she'd let him hold her.
But he insisted, France was more of a slow but steady kind of person. She pointed it out to him multiple times and if he really wanted them to work, he had to do it the old-fashioned way. Sure the kiss was sudden, but what they had back at the Gulag was something worth waiting for and kissing her anytime now would never feel the same as the first.
Jack and Maxine quickly split off toward the market while the two of them remained by the center of the plaza. John scratched his head as he stuttered to ask her where to go.
"So… um… where to?" He asked.
"Looks like they got some cool jackets over there! You think you look good on those?" She asked excitedly.
"What do you think?" He asked shyly.
"Hmmmm.. Maybe… I'm not quite sure." She replied. John expected the classic you'd-look-better-without-any joke but she's not that kind of girl, and he's digging it.
When they say time flies by when you're having fun, John resonated with the quote. They spent most of the time laughing over clothes whose designs didn't make much sense and ended up buying most of them. Despite all the things going on around the world, John felt normal when he's with her, something he hasn't felt in quite a while. He'd even imagined that they're actually boyfriend and girlfriend whenever people around look at them. He was happy. He could get used to this.
~
It was about lunch time when they returned to the Safe house, and the scenery inside was the most unexpected thing ever.
Price was sleeping by the couch, his whole head was covered by a newspaper which had "End' times" written as the headline. Ghost and Roach were fighting over a piece of broccoli on the table while Alex sat by the stairs, wearing a shirt with a huge whale printed on it, playing with a lighter, flicking it open then closing it back as he stared at the flames.
"So that's where Smokey went." Soap muttered.
"Smokey?" France asked.
"My lighter." Soap replied confidently.
"Really?"
"Yep." he said, popping the 'P' as he unloaded most of the supplies to the kitchen.
"What happened here?" Jack asked, taking off his jacket, completely regretting wearing it in a tropical country.
"Roach ate my broccoli!" Ghost complained.
"Ghost ate my pie!" Roach complained back as Jack sighed and placed a palm on his face.
"We had pie?" Soap asked, his eyes beamed at the table, only to be disappointed that there was none.
"Technically it's a tart and it's supposed to be for Maxine." Ghost smiled shyly eyeing at Maxine.
"Well, it didn't have her name on it so I assumed…" Ghost replied.
"You don't have to assume! You should've asked!" he yelled.
Soap was amazed at the spectrum of the team, which ranged from very righteous and courageous warriors to actual toddlers. It made him happy that he joined this little group he could call family.
~
Another day had passed and they still had no leads. But Ghost looked like he was onto something as Soap found him with Price as they discussed matters that sounded serious. He just hoped it was a lead. He's starting to worry about Alex who was constantly moping around. With nothing to work on, all he could focus on was Samantha.
"Guess you liked playing with that lighter so much." Soap leaned by the door, looking concerned at his comrade.
"Hey man. How was the market." Alex asked, his tone was nonchalant, almost lifeless.
"Well, it was busy. Jack led us there because you were asleep all morning…"
"Yeah. I couldn't go there. We shared so many memories in that town. I just can't handle it at the moment." He frowned and tossed him the lighter which Soap caught immediately.
"Thanks for this. And if you ever need someone to talk to… We're here for you, pal." Soap said awkwardly. The term pal was very American and he thought it'd be appropriate.
"Thanks, pal." Alex chuckled and stood up.
"Let's go get dinner." Alex added, his eyes were fueled with determination. And Soap was happy that he's taking small steps to recover.

Tater Tot Emergency (Soran x Child!Reader)
Tumblr media
Request: I was wondering if you could do a soran imagine with the reader as their kid but the team doesn’t know and their kid is very sick with like cancer or something along the lines of that
Authors Note 1: So I changed this request up a little bit because I felt really uncomfortable writing about cancer. It brought up some really bad feelings and felt really heavy, so i changed to appendicitis instead.
Authors note 2: I’m not sure how i feel about this one, but i hope you enjoy it. Let me know what ya think or hit me up if you have ideas or just want to say hi.
Emily and Lindsey loved camp. They loved seeing their team, and they loved playing footie. Yet, they weren’t as excited to be there as they usually were. Instead, their minds were more focused on a little girl just down the road hanging out with Lindsey’s mom for the duration of the camp. A little girl that had been in their life for just under a year, who they had never been away from before. They had heavily debated taking you to camp, but in the end, it was decided that meeting the entire team (besides Kelley who had been there during the adoption process), would be a little too overwhelming for your tiny body. They weren’t hiding you, they just didn’t know how to break the news to the rest of the girls.
“Mom said that she finally got the tater tot to go down for a nap,” Lindsey sighed, sitting heavily on the bench next to Emily, who wrapped her arm tightly around Lindsey’s waist.
“How was her fever?” Emily asked, leaning her head on Lindsey’s shoulder and eyeing the various pictures your grandmother had sent them. It sucked to be away from you in general, but right now it sucked all that much more because you were sick. You had come down with what they thought was a stomach bug, and all they could do was pray that it passed soon.
“Holding steady at 101, and she couldn’t get her to eat,” Lindsey grumbled.
“Did she try giving some to Roary first?” Emily laughed, grabbing Lindsey’s phone and examining the picture of her little one cuddled up with her stuffed Triceratops. You didn’t do anything without Roary, and your moms had used that to their advantage several times.
When you didn’t want to eat your veggies, well Roary loved broccoli. When you didn’t want shots, Roary went first to show you that it wasn’t all that bad. The two women would be forever grateful to your Aunt Kelley for getting him for you.
“Yeah, She even tried ice cream,” Lindsey mumbled, her eyebrows furrowing in worry.
“And the munchkin still didn’t go for it?” Emily questioned exasperated. You never turned town icecream. It was your absolute favorite food ever and their Trump card. It was the one thing that could get you to do just about anything. Lindsey shook her head slightly. “She must not feel good,” Emily huffed.
She hadn’t wanted to leave you in the first place, but your grandmother had convinced them that it was just a stomach bug, and you would be fine for the three days they would be at Camp. Now, she was entirely rethinking that decision.
“What the hell are you two talking about. Who’s Roary?” Pino interrupted before Lindsey could respond, plopping down on the bench next to the two blonds, who shared a frantic look.
“Um…” Lindsey started, not quite sure how to explain to the other woman that they had a 4-year-old daughter. A 4-year-old daughter who was currently not feeling too great.
“Alright ladies, let's get back to work,” Vlatko called, catching the attention of the women who had crowded around Emily and Lindsey, who both sighed in relief. The crowd began to disperse, walking towards the field, except one woman. The only woman who knew that you existed, who sent both worried looks.
“Everything alright?” Kelley asked, eyeing the two women’s distress.
“We hope so,” Emily muttered, sulking back towards the field.
It was halfway through practice when it was decided that everything was most certainly not fine.
“Hey Linds, your phone is going crazy,” One of the coaches called out after Lindsey’s phone had buzzed for the 6th time in the last 5 minutes. Lindsey rushed over to the bench, grabbing the offending device, her eyes widening as she answered the next frantic all.
“Hey Mom, everything Ok?” Lindsey asked, trying to sound calm, even though she most certainly didn’t feel that way. If her mom was calling then it had to be bad. She listened for a few seconds, her face becoming more worried with each word. “You’re talking too fast,” She said quickly, as Emily jogged up next to her, placing a comforting hand on her arm. “Are you at Memorial or NorthWest?” She asked, biting her lip and gesturing for Emily to start picking up their stuff. “Tell them to do it, we’ll be there as soon as we can,” She finished, hanging up the phone and shoving it into her pocket, and gesturing towards Vlatko, who came running over along with the rest of the team.
“I got the bags,” Emily said as she heaved up both her and Lindsey’s bags. She didn’t know exactly what was going on, but she knew that it was serious and they needed to move now.
“We need to go, now. My mom had to take her to the hospital.” Lindsey barked out towards Vlatko. He nodded, immediately. He knew about you by necessity, that way he would understand if any emergency were to happen.
“Of course, do you need someone to drive you?” He asked, his back straightening and concern leaking into his voice.
“No, we got it. Ready babe?” Emily said distractedly, checking to make sure that she had all of their things.
“Who? What the fuck is going on?” Megan exploded, as several of the women behind her nodded. Sonney and Lindsey had been acting strange all weekend. They were glued to their phones and always whispering conspiratorially to each other. The women were going to get to the bottom of it.
“Our daughter is having emergency surgery and we need to go, now.” Lindsey spat over her shoulder, grabbing Emily’s hand and moving towards the exit. Several of the women gasped, while others just looked on in shock. Kelley rushed forward, placing a hand on the women’s shoulders, and forcing them to turn around.
“If you think you’re going by yourselves, you’re both out of your fucking minds,” She growled. She might not be your mother, but she cared about you and from the tears in both women’s eyes, they were in no state to drive. One person in the hospital was enough, they didn’t need any more emergencies.
“Guys,” Emily started, holding her hand out in a placating fashion.
“No. She’s our niece and we always show up for family.,” Alex said firmly, standing behind Kelley and crossing her arms. Sure, they had just learned about you, but that didn’t make you any less their family. There would be time to quiz your mothers about you later, but right now, they just needed to support them.
“Let’s get going then,” Kelley said grabbing the keys and rushing towards the vans. You were in trouble and they needed to get moving.
“Lindsey, over here,” Lindsey’s mom called the moment she saw her daughter enter through the emergency room doors. Emily and Lindsey quickly made their way over to the woman, the women of the USWNT following behind them like lost puppies.
“What happened?” Emily demanded, her mother-in-law nodded hastily.
“Her temperature spiked, and she was in so much pain, so I brought her here. They said her Appendix burst,” she explained in a rush. Lindsey’s hands migrated to her hair, agitatedly pulling at the strands, while Emily rubbed her hands into her eyes with a groan. How the fuck did this happen while?
“Ah, you must be Mommy and Mama?”A tall, bald man in a white coat and scrubs approached the women,“And you must be the rest of the team?” He smiled gesturing to where the team had taken up residence in the cramped waiting room.
“Is Y/n ok?” Lindsey rushed out, Emily nodded, wrapping her arm around her wife and looking at the doctor expectantly. They didn’t know what they would do if… the thought was too painful to even imagine. They shouldn’t have left you, even if it was with your grandmother and they were only a few miles away.
“She’s stable now. The surgery was a success, we were able to remove her Appendix, and she’s currently getting set up in a recovery room,” He listed professionally.
“But she’s going to be alright now,” Emily asked, desperation leaking into her tone.
“Barring any infections and some pain around the incision, she should be fine. Kids typically bounce back pretty well,” The doctor nodded and all of the women took a sigh of relief. You weren’t totally out of the woods, but you could be alright.
“Can we see her,” Lindsey quieted, sniffling lightly, and trying to discreetly bring a hand up to wipe her nose. She felt a tissue being placed in her hands by a woman behind her, and she murmured out a thank you.
“I’ll have a nurse come get you as soon as she’s been settled,” The doctor affirmed, smiling lightly, and turning to go talk to the nurse at the nurse’s station.
“You two go in first, we’ll hang out here until she’s awake and ready to meet us. We don’t want to overwhelm her.” Tobin spoke quietly, rubbing Lindsey back, as Christen did the same for Emily.
Lindsey and Emily’s breath left them as they entered your room and took in your appearance. Your little body looked so tiny in that bed, the numerous wires connected to you making you look impossibly more fragile. They couldn’t help the smile that cracked across their face at the sight of Roary laying beside you, a bandage wrapped securely around his middle in the place she assumed yours was.
They carefully made their way over to you, Lindsey sitting on your right and Emily on your left, both women grabbing your tiny hands.
“I can’t believe they bandaged the Dino too,” Lindsey laughed as she ran a hand through your wispy Y/H/C hair, brushing it away from your eyes.
“Kel will be thrilled she’s so attached to that thing,” Lindsey whispered, running her fingers lightly over your cheeks. She smiled when your nose scrunched up cutely.
“Mama?” You mumbled, your Y/E/C eyes fluttering.
“Hey baby, Mommy is here too,” Lindsey smiled, leaning over so you could see her better, her thumb running soothing circles over your cheeks.
“Hey monster, try not to move too much ok? You hurt your tummy,” Emily said softly, placing a soothing hand on your chest, to stop you from trying to sit up.
“Dey fix Roary too?” You asked, squeezing the stuffed dino under your arm more tightly. The women smiled indulgently at you.
“Yeah, and he said he’s feeling much better. What about you?” Emily asked, running her hand soothingly through your hair.
“I’m otay. Can I have water?”You asked, Lindsey, raising her eyebrow at you.“peas?” You smiled mischievously at your mama, batting your eyelashes, and she rolled her eyes.
“Kelley wants to know if her, Alex, Chris, and Tobin can come in?” Emily grumbled, glancing up from where she was texting updates to the USWNT group chat.
“Might as well bring in the whole crew,” Lindsey mumbled under her breath. Where one went the others were sure to follow, and though this wasn’t the perfect moment, she knew that the other women were worried about you.
“Hey baby, there are some people who really wanna say hi, wanna meet them?” Emily questioned lightly, brushing the hair away from your eyes yet again.
“You Team?” You asked, your eyes lighting up in excitement. You had only heard stories about the women from your Mommy, Mama, and Aunt Kelley. If they were half as cool as Aunt Kelley said they were, then you couldn’t wait to meet them (especially your Aunt Alex because Aunt Kelley made heart eyes every time she talked about her).
“Yeah, baby,” Lindsey said softly, replacing Emily’s hand on your chest to slow your excited wiggling.
“Aun Kelwey?” You cheered. You loved the woman (not as much as you loved your mamas, but pretty close). She always told you fun stories, and she had given you Roary.
“She’s there too,” Emily smiled lightly at your obvious excitement, standing and moving to go retrieve the said women. You and your Mama didn’t have to wait long before Kelley came busting through the door with the rest of the team following much more carefully behind her.
“Hey short stack” Kelley smiled as she entered the room, (gently) tickling you and kissing your cheeks. The room’s atmosphere lightened at your giggles, and Lindsey and Emily shared a knowing look.
“You knew?” Alex demanded, glaring at her girlfriend as the entire team trickled into the room.
“Of course I knew that Frat Daddy junior had a junior of her own,” Kelley smirked, settling into her chair, watching as you tried to keep your eyes open.
“Tired baby?” Lindsey asked quietly after a few minutes of watching you fight your obviously heavy eyelids.
“Wanna meet the team,” You wined, quietening at your mama’s stern look. Just because you were sick didn’t mean you got to be a brat. All of the women awed at your dinosaur yawn.
“Sleep baby dino, we’ll still be here when you get back,” Kelley said softly, rubbing your leg, as Alex did the same thing on your other side. They would be here for as long as you were to support you and your mothers. Plus, your mamas had some explaining to do. Now that they knew you exited, you had 20 other Aunts who were going to help you get better.

idk what the fuck did i do to yeah get ready for visual cancer and my bad writing.
´´John, that's enough! ´´ claims an annoying Alexander, a 17-year-old boy who attends Columbia University, this boy had charming eyes of a blue color combined with violet and a curly hair dyed a strong brown that He could almost look red, not forgetting his beautiful freckles which were scattered all over his face. He had to admit that he was very feminine and his height and body did not help, he was very handsome among women and men although he denied it. Taking her hands off his insistent boyfriend, John, the ones that only managed to scare him.
And it was October 31 and instead of going out to party with the boys or the Schuyler sisters, he could even stay with Gil or George and Martha but no, he had decided to stay with John in his apartment, to watch movies, taking advantage of his parents and siblings are not there.
Serious mistake.
You're a coward. . .''John jokes, continuing with the pinches that distract the freckled, in his attempt to pay attention. They were watching the Japanese version of ´´The Aro´´ and the truth is that Alex was on the verge of a heart attack, he was not good at horror films, although he had a masochistic taste for these types of films.
´´John, seriously. . .Y-stop! ´´ he asks in a not so convincing way, noticing how the blond's hands begin to slip through his clothes. Alexander knows that they are alone and that they will probably do "that" to take advantage of the time together; he resists anyway.
deep down he liked that Laurens wanted more of him.
Come on, you know the end. They all die, '' he whispers in Alex's ear and although he knows he is right, his hoarse and excited voice is what disturbs him.
In less than he expects, he's already got John on top of him and he's collapsed on the bed in a struggle actually. . .not so forced. And that although he does not want to admit it, Alexander likes that rude and daring side that he rarely showed and despite that, it was ´´Jack´´ who started this type of encounter, mostly to commit indecent acts and explore the joys of sex.
´´ Why don´t you stop Lex? ´´ jokes John with a little impatience and his cock is too erect. ´´oh! I don't know, maybe it's because I have a fucking fear that a woman will appear from the TV and kill us? ´ 'Alex sarcastically responds, with a small blush peeking out of his freckled cheeks and managing to get a small laugh from both of them. Listening to Alex's melodious laugh, for John it was music to his ears, but, if he had known this was going to happen, he would have put him in one of those 80's movies, with those he hadn't had any problems the last time.
"It doesn't matter, we'll fix it," he says, smiling confidently and pulling his pants down on his embarrassed and sarcastic boyfriend. Leaving those slender and shapely legs in sight.
He didn't need his dick to lift anyway, as long as he loosened it would be fine.
´´J-jack, u-hm. . . ” Alex gasps when he feels Laurens's tongue brush against her belly button in circles, as his hands venture up his thighs, spreading them wide open. In the background you can still hear the screams of the horror movie.
Movie that they will never finish seeing.
"Do you like it?" Jack asks between gasps and his cock about to burst. He had spent minutes preparing hard the contracted entrance of his dear boy, who would not stop panting and letting out moans that made him lose what little patience he had. ´´Y-yes. . I think I'm ready," he announces to which John, instantly, unbuttons his pants. Releasing his aching erection.
´´Ngh. . . Alex´´ John moans hoarsely against his ear, at the same time that he aligned his cock in his tight entrance, without waiting any longer, the blonde enters suddenly, drawing a groan from both of them at feeling so complete. It didn't take long when he began to thrust into his ass, as the sound of the bed and their sexual release filled the room. For a moment, none of them feel the noise of the film anymore. They are both gone in that dance of sweaty bodies that invokes pleasure and to which they have become addicted without knowing how.
Until something rings.
´´What was that? ´´ asks Alexander to the busy John, who doesn´t even flinch at the loud sound. He is still very immersed in his work of going out and going into the depths of his being.
A second noise is heard.
'' John. . .´´ Alex insists, starting to get really scared. It sounded like knocks, coming from the first floor. ´´Alex, for the shit stop squeezing me ngh !. ... it must be a fucking bird crashing into the window.´´ he tries to calm him down, feeling how his member is compressed against his insides, every time the freckled body tenses.
"What if he is your father?"
The blond's face pales at the horrendous possibility.
"Shit, get dressed!" He says, completely leaving his entrance, and then running off to get their clothes. He throws Alex's clothes at his face, ordering him to stay in the room and for no reason leave there, until verifying if he is his father.
He doesn't know about their relationship, nor that Alexander is in the house. . His presence of him there would be something very annoying to explain.
(…)
The minutes pass and John does not return, Alex begins to worry.
´´John? ´´ he asks once in the kitchen, he chosen to go downstairs anyway. They had spent several minutes without knowing anything about her boyfriend and now she was really scared
He walks towards the front door. . .
It's open.
. . .
With a little chill through running her body, he quickly goes to the kitchen for something to threaten his possible aggressor. He takes a knife, but since he does not consider himself a murderer, he decides to exchange it for a large meat grinder. At least with this one he could take down the possible intruder, before escaping.
Alexander, barely breathing, creeps into the house. There is no noise in it and no sign of John. So, drawing courage from him, he does not know where, he goes outside through the backyard door, where the entrance to the shed can be seen ajar.
A stain of what appears to be blood can be seen on the door of this and causes the freckled young man to collect his heart. Then, shivering and tears streaming from his violet eyes, he enters desperately.
´´J-jack? ´´ he asks with a shaking voice and gasping for breath. He does not see the blond, because it is very dark. He advances looking for the wall switch and then. . .
Then he steps on something that made his blood run cold.
´´AHHHHHHH !! ´´ he yells when he steps on something similar to a body, then realizing that it is just a very battered scarecrow. He breathes a sigh of relief and luckily for him, he finally finds the light switch.
He turns it on.
´´AHHHHHHHHHH !!!! ´´
Alexander runs terrified of the place before what he saw. A shed full of blood-red stains and something that looked like guts scattered on the floor, but what had scared him the most was the dark cloak one that he could make out at the bottom of a corner.
It was that of a person.
. . .
Alarmed, he enters the house and without being able to reach the bathroom, in the kitchen dishwasher he begins to vomit. His body trembles and tears of deep pain fall from his eyes, as he thinks about the possibility of what he saw spread across the walls and floor. . . was his jack
-Hey, don't you think we went out of line?-
-Shut up dumb.-
-oh god, I can't anymore.-
-It was your idea, I'm just following you, asshole! -
-my idea?, it was Ben! -
-Don't blame me for his perversions, when Alex finds out he's going to hit us with that butcher's machete.-
Three young people comment on their joke while hiding in some bushes, unfortunately, precisely the ones facing the kitchen.
(…)
'' Shit, we're more than screwed. . .´´ are Benjamin's words as he sees Alexander open the bushes, revealing his hiding place. His face overcomes what is anger. His eyes are still red from crying and his serious gesture is one of complete hatred.
And he still has the machete in his hand.
"B-ben, weren't we going to the party?" Hale asks Benjamin, who nods nervously, because he knows that if they don't get out of there. . . . they will go very badly.
Alexander although he seems a weakling, but he has strength.
And a machete.
´´y-yes´´ supports him ´´ well dude. . . take care! ´´ Benjamin says goodbye, slapping John on the back, in an attempt to give him support. Although rather, it is a gesture of condolences to his sexual life.
Tonight someone was going to stay without fucking.
(…)
´´Alex,. .hey. . .´´ He tries to get closer to the redhead, taking care that the minor does not split his head.
´´NO! ´´ Alex jerks away from the arm that is trying to take him. "DON'T TOUCH ME, YOU'RE A DAMNED IDIOT!" He shouts angrily, trying not to give her the satisfaction of seeing him break into tears.
Although he was already doing it.
John, like few times in his life, feels bad about the things that
he does. And he had never seen Alex like this.
Crying as if his life were lost on it, and with so much sorrow in his eyes.
This time,
He messed it up.
´´Alex, sorry. . .´´ he whispers and makes a second attempt to get closer, which this time, if it seems to work. His dear boy is so sad and hurt that he does not resist when John embraces him, pulling him close to his body. ´´ I already told you I'm sorry, I'm fine. . Come on, don't cry. . .´´ he tries to calm him down, stroking his back and giving him small kisses on his face full of small salty tears.
'I-I thought you were dead. . .I-I saw all those things and. . .´´ Alex tries to speak but only starts crying again. John, feeling like the worst beast in the world, accompanies him in bed. Laying him on his bed and settling aside to caress his face, guiltily, until he stops crying. Spreading kisses down his cheeks, which were now red as was his nose.
´´J-john no. . .'' Alex tries to stop him when he sees him approach his lips to his face, with the intention of kiss him. ´ ´I v-vomited´´ he confesses ashamed, hiccupping from crying.
´´ I don't care, it's okay. I can clean you with my tongue. . .´´ John insists, speaking flirtatiously to make him laugh again. He likes Alexander who usually laughs, who cries in this way hurts him, and more to know that it was his fault.
´´Stop your nonsense. . . . Can we sleep? ´´ asks what Laurens, trying to control her sexual / depressive urges, nods.
He would have to stay with it this time.
They both snuggle up, covering themselves well with the blankets and giving each other a couple of kisses before going to sleep.
A noise is heard again
Alexander, snuggled against Jack's chest, looks up. John, annoyed, decides to ignore the sound similar to that of a while ago.
Again he is heard again.
These idiots. . .´´ he complains, taking his cell phone to give Benjamin's life sermon. When he answers him, he receives exactly that.
-Hey idiot, are you retarded or what? Stop with your shit or seriously I'm going to kick your balls, and until they come out.
But it is not Benjamin who speaks, it is more, nobody answers. The music of the party is not heard either. Only someone's breathing can be heard in response, so terrifying it makes John hang up the phone and throw it to the ground as if on fire.
´´What's wrong? ´´ asks Alex, calmer now. Jack was a little pale. And is that John, had already heard that noise. He heard it when he stood at the entrance of the house, when he went out in search of what was generating that annoying blow, and then ended up meeting his friends and playing that stupid joke for which he now feared that the freckled man would really hate him.
"It's nothing, let's go back to sleep." He replies, trying to convince himself that it must be another stupid joke of those two. Alexander closes his eyes quietly but John cannot sleep, any noise alerts him. He has a bad feeling.
´´ What's wrong, can't you sleep? ´´ asks Alex, noticing how his Jack moves too much on the bed. . . "no. . . .i have a little insomnia" he confesses, not wanting to terrify him with the chilling thoughts of him.
Where there was still someone in his home.
´´ Me too´´ Alex mentions as he snuggles deeper into John's arms. "Do you want to fuck?" Asks the blonde, to which Alex just laughs. "Jack, don't think I forgot the joke," he replies to which John huffs, frustrated, assuming there really wouldn't be sex today.
´´ although I am surprised that they were so detailed with all that of the blood, guts and that dark suit.´´
´´What a dark suit? ´´ asks John, not remembering that in the plan.
´´the one with the disguise, the dark cape.´´
´´ There was no dark layer .´´
´´ but I saw someone at the back of the shed.´´
. . .
This is when John is more alarmed than before.
And when another noise is heard, this time they can both notice
Which is from a window on the first floor. and that this time they will not be able to see the light of a new day.
Morning news, yesterday October 31, two bodies were found on 123rd Street, because of the atrocious way in which they were murdered, they could not recognize them, however, thanks to our best police officers, we now know their names. John Laurens and Alexander Hamilton. we recommend not leaving the house while we still do not catch this man.
On tv there was an image of the murderer of that couple.
who could say that John Andre's jealousy would lead him to commit such an atrocity.

Ah! There’s been a brief break in the schedule from hell! QUICK, LET’S GEEK OUT OVER Supergirl, episode 6x13, “The Gauntlet”, while we have the chance!
SPOILERS!
We jump right in with a Fortress visit (woo!) and Vita (Vida?) our resident Kryptonian witch!
And like...choices are being made with this performance. I’m...not entirely sure what those choices are, necessarily, but. Not mad about it! It’s a weird blend of funny and unsettling, which kinda works?
Especially given the overall tone of the episode.
Love that Kara’s like, ‘yeah, it’s magic.’ And Lena’s like,
Tumblr media
Anyways! Vita lays down the ground rules for the McGuffin hunt, and then we’re off!
Definitely thought Dr. Lahr was a reference to Lesla-Lar, a Silver Age Supergirl villain (who kind of appeared in Superman & Lois? Like, in name only?) but nope! It’s a reference to Bert Lahr, the actor who played the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, as per one of the writers of this episode.
(Which is neat b/c it ties in thematically with the whole totem plot and ALSO b/c that’s Kara’s favorite film!)
Love the bit where Nyxly was exasperated by heist movie genre conventions. XD
Love Nyxly in general, TBH.
Like. Peta Sergeant is killin’ it, both the wacky chaotic stuff and the more serious, emotional side. And. AND. It’s good and personal, between her and Kara. (And it gets even MORE personal in this episode but! I’m getting ahead of myself.)
Appreciate that the Alex and Kelly stuff at the tail end of the last episode was not a one-and-done! Kelly is still processing, and Alex is still giving her space to do so.
Chyler’s ‘Oh-kay’ was very cute.
New CGI CatCo shot? Maybe? Don’t think we’ve seen the building from that angle.
*GASP!* MY BOY. WILL.
PROCESSING HIS PTSD????
More good crumbs! I will take them!
Dear SG writers, re: David and Goliath: Not a slingshot. Just a sling.
But I understand that visually, that would not have worked for a prop, so. I will give it a pass. XD
Another shout out to the woman who brought her pet lizard to the science museum.
Kara then zaps the artifact, and, in the words of Warehouse 13 agents, ‘everyone gets whammied.’
And then Brainy is possessed by Vita (natch) and apparently, ‘Are these his nipples?’ was a Jesse ad lib.
Bravo, sir. I laughed out loud.
(Honestly I laughed a lot during this episode. Just. Delightful performances all around!)
“I did not like that.”
And then PILOT KARA?!?!?!?!?!?!
WITH SEASON ONE SCORE!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Also MAJOR PROPS to the production design folks, I totally thought they were recycling footage and then Kara spoke and I was like, ‘WHOA. WHOA THIS IS NEW.’
Plane saaaaaaave!!!! :D :D :D :D
Love it. Love it so much.
And OooOOoOOoh, that little bit! That we didn’t see before! Kara ignored calls for help because she was afraid of revealing her identity!
(What you wanna bet the Courage Totem wanted her to do exactly that?)
Love her big smile after she saves the guy, though. You can tell that it’s, you know. Obviously 30-something Melissa, not 20-something Melissa, but that smile? Like steppin’ back in time.
Perhaps it was simply the CW ads playing during the commercial breaks, but the whole ‘YOU FAILED’ and ‘totem’ aspect gave me Legends of the Hidden Temple vibes.
Unintentional cross promotion! XD
The Fifth Dimension is...fine? Kinda lackluster, for an entirely different plane of existence, but, you know. Budgets.
Not a fan of Nyxly’s dress.
But very good character stuff!
Meanwhile, back at the museum:
Tumblr media
And THIS, my friends, is where the episode jumps from ‘pretty darn good!’ to ‘practically perfect in every way.’
Because J’onn has the courage to freely express his feelings and Alex has the courage to be dangerously optimistic. Which means we get gems such as:
SWEET, another dragon!
And can I just say how proud I am to have watched you both grow into the strong women you are today?
Uh, Mr. Dragon sir? Two minutes of your time. Just two minutes.
(To the woman throwing coffee cups) Good hit.
These people must be so scared...but they’re being so brave.
My immediate thought, when finishing this episode, was that I wanted a gifset of just J’onn lines, but. Upon further reflection, you just can’t capture how excellent the line reads are in plain text.
Thus, I feel like the best thing would just be a J’onn supercut.
Sadly, there’s only a Lena supercut for this episode that youtube thought I’d want to see HAHAHA I hate it here.
J’onn: Alex is such a courageous hero. :D
Kara: Yeah, normally she’s a grade-A, glass-half-shattered realist. >:C
I am happy that Katie didn’t have to wear uncomfortable heels in this episode but uuuhhhh...the white sneakers with the Janet-From-The-Good-Place outfit is...certainly...a look.
I like the CGI on Kara rushing around the city to save people! It looked really cool, the glowing lights of the buildings and the white streak of Kara speeding/hopping around.
And ooooh, the shot of Kara holding the totem at the rainy window. Nice and moody.
Every time they bring up Project Bolt I’m just like:
Tumblr media
This? This Bolt? Aaaand now I’m sad about the lack of Krypto on this show.
Guesstimating?!??!?!
XD
Right, so. Then we get the Lightning storm showdown and I love it.
We’ve got WILLIAM! OUR BOY! SAVING A KID!
And then J’onn being like, ‘Bummer. I understand your frustration. Wanna talk about it?’
And Kara ultimately putting the safety and well-being of her team ahead of ‘beating’ Nxyly aaaahhhh yes, excellent, wonderful, stellar.
(Also Dr. Lahr uselessly pounding on J’onn’s chest is hilarious.)
Guardian and Sentinel team uuppppp NICE, NICE.
(But wouldn’t the metal shield be...bad...for deflecting lightning?)
(...You know what, who cares, looks rad.)
And then! We circle back to a thing I mentioned earlier, that whole, ‘This is personal for Kara’, all this stuff with Nyxly.
Like, not only is she just a fun villain to watch, perfectly nailing that sweet spot of comic book silliness and a serious threat to our heroes, but ALSO. This season did a great job setting her up at the outset and directly involving Kara by having them bond and such.
And they continued to build on that in the previous episodes as well; here, it jumps up ANOTHER level as they become psychically linked!
INTRIGUING!
(Also, I know it was like, framed as Kara wanting to have a strategic advantage over Nyxly but I like to think some of her ‘no, thanks’ to Lena was also rooted, ‘Haha, our friendship is mending but no, I do not want you using your novice magical abilities to mess with my head, thanks.’)
Credit where credit is due, Katie’s ‘turns out...thatshesawitch’ was a very funny bit.
So then! The episode-ending bits! Looks like we’re gonna get some WILLIAM stuff and some ALEX stuff, yes, good, yes.
Excellent, A+, loved EVERY MINUTE OF THIS EPISODE. SUCH A GOOD TIME.
COMING UP. New episode, obviously, but also! This month! DC Fandome! And supposedly a farewell Supergirl panel? IDK, we’ll probably get more info as we get closer.
Until the next break in my schedule, then!
