What “cringe” fandoms would the mekadan have been into as kids. Like we know Marry was a black butler girlie but I need to know the rest. Who was deeply invested in the fnaf lore, who was cosplaying as homestuck trolls, who was shipping creepypastas. I am desperate for answers only you can provide.

ayano is into homestuck. used to role play warrior cats. loves the marvel cinematic universe, and just any superhero comic book stuff in general. canonically into jojo.

kido's is BANDS. specifically bands considered emo back in 2013 or something. my chemical romance. blink 189. black veil brides. that was their shit. also im sorry but they were a superwholock. sorryyyyyy i also think they'd be into medical dramas like grey's anatomy and dr house LMAO

i dont think seto did or does fandoms. i think seto goes outside too much. he's the only one who has no idea what being in a fandom is like, also the least online definitely (I'll get to mary)

kano would be into youtubers/celebrities. he's so into celebrity gossip it's impossible to talk to him he knows of names youve never even heard of.

haruka and takane are the fnaf lore guys especially haruka i seriously think he arrives to school one day after he stayed up all night watching fnaf lore videos and told takane all about it. they're the ones lining up for the movie rn. they also probably roleplayed undertale together in highschool. also i think takane likes analog horror which is horrible for haruka bc i think he hates horror but he's also weirdly fascinated by it so he's watching through his fingers anything takane puts on lol. they tend to share their fandoms especially in hs because haruka was furiously googling anything takane mentioned to have conversation topics with her

hiyori's obviously into idols. i think like kido she loves bands too but she's from the directioner bts stan vibes. and hibiya i LOVE to make jokes abt him being into whatever 12 year olds are into (fortnite, among us, fnaf) and seriously i do love that and i think gamer hibiya is possible with the power of him making the effort to learn to use his phone and the internet bc all his friends live far away and in the process learns abt all that. but before that he was like seto he has no idea what it feels like to be in a fandom and cannot understand hiyori's visions. he's still not SUPER online though

I've read some rezero crossover fanfics , but I really don't understand why some people like to impose the whole background and character traits of other characters on certain characters in Rezero, and some fics even directly stated that A in Rezero is in fact B from a certain work, which is very bizarre and disrespectful to both canon source material, it's like B is cosplaying A but is a completely different person on the inside, if you want to insert a character from other works into the rezero world why don't you just keep their original identity and characteristics? Personally, I really hate this type of rezero crossover fics tbh :///

i joined this fandom months before season 2 started airing, so i was there to see rz ao3 pick up and the fanfic scene in rz be more established—so seeing this trend in rz fic has always really confused me tbh?? 😅 and i dont personally like it either for the same reasons you stated. its just one of those rz fanfic tropes that i 1. am not very fond of and 2. am continuously confused by given these arent very fandom typical trends, theyre extremely rz fandom specific if that makes sense (the react fic trend… re:forgotten… etc)? and i dont often see crossovers treated like this in other fandoms, and rz in general seems to be a fandom that really enjoys fic because its kind of. astounding?? that theres a whole fanfic thread that gets continuously renewed on rz reddit and is almost always pinned right at the top of the page. its rare to get a fandom that very openly acknowledges its fic in this way i feel? but you know, you go on that fic thread and you see a lot of people suggesting crossover ideas that—as you said anon—tend to be very “rezero but character a is character b”?? its like such a commonplace thing that occasionally i just go through that thread out of curiosity and read it like you would a morning newspaper hah and you cant go more than a minute without seeing a crossover idea like that.

and if anyone else is seeing this and confused on what the hell that means, one example i see a lot is “rezero but subaru is guts from berserk” wkfndnd

i think subaru is the one this happens most to, just because various audiences have various relationships with subaru, mainly because there tends to be a habit of 1. using him as a self-insert and 2. thinking hes absolute hellspawn or the best most perfect person to ever exist with zero nuance, so the whole “person a is now person b in everything but name and looks” thing is so. telling. like sometimes when i see people talk about a character like subaru it always boggles my mind because its like?? do you… even like subaru as he is? and if youre warping rezero to be more like that other media youre crossing it over with, do you even like rezero either? anon saying “its like B is cosplaying A but is a completely different person in the inside” is exactly how it feels like?? T^T

and of course its not as if you cant write crossovers. i love seeing crossovers!! i read some crossovers myself and ive written a whole bunch of crossovers and i come up with all sorts of ideas. its super fun to do and i completely get it. but the “person a is person b” thing is odd to me because at the heart of it, it feels like it basically means “*insert character* but theyre not actually themselves”. and of course its not like you cant make AUs where things are changed from canon, or AUs where the character grows and changes in general even if its different from canon. but theres a difference between “im gonna put this character through shenanigans and see how they change as a person but theyre ultimately still the same deep down and im examining how theyd most likely realistically act in this situation if this happened to them” vs “im gonna change the entire point of this character until theyre only recognizable in name”. i feel like it completely misses exactly what makes these characters and stories so good in the first place.

also side note: headcanons are a whole different thing because thats just “i have specific ideas about how this character is like” and is usually fine unless youre being pushy about it or condemning others for having (innocent!!) hcs you dont agree with wkdndn

and okay, i also get it if people have issues with how characters or media are written and want to change it. i myself have issues sometimes with how tappei handles rezero, but i still like rezero and so many of its characters. you can critique a media without trying to change what the heart of it is, and rezero for example is ultimately a story with a lot of heart to it and clear purpose behind so much of its writing. and its clear to see some things this crossover trend because so much of it is done with subaru. because it 1. misses the point of all of subarus nuances, complexities, the intent behind his character writing, and what makes him so good in the first place and 2. shows that people dont want him to actually be subaru. they want him to be someone else, which is ironically a plot point that comes up again and again in rezero wkdndnd. its interesting that it comes up so much in rezero too, because i feel like its in part most likely commentary on how audiences react to subaru and often try to change him to fit what they want.

but yeah thats just my thoughts on this whole crossover trend in general 👍👍

In case of my favorite pov... Its honestly very hard to say? I mean, i enjoy watching a few of them but because of different reasons. But lately i think i was watching almost every Fits stream, i love his chill vibe, his energy and how he talks about Ramon! (I love Ramon so much, i cosplayed him on some kind of convention).

I find Slimes lore kinda sad, im screaming while talking about it but unfortunately i mostly read about it. I must admit that i HATE watching any kinds of vods, i dont mind the length when its live stream but when its a vod --- oh god--- Unfortunately Slime and some other creators are live very late at night for me and im just unable to stay up for that long. That's also a reason why i watch Fit that much, he streams at evening.

Speaking of late streams - Quackity/ElQuackity lore makes me shiver and i just love how he starts with these happy, relaxed vibes and ends them without a word after showing us something jawdropping. But i also just like listening to his voice so--- (gender haha. But for the same reason i watch Cellbit, even if i dont understand that much :'33)

I must be honest that i wasnt there from the beginning of the qsmp so im mostly watching those creators who are more talked about??

every so often i get reminded of my ex friend rose who drifted apart from our friend group around 2022... and i get SO MAD i start spouting steam from my ears and everything. its such a specific scenario but im going to explain it because im crazy

ive known her for like literally years. weve been friends at least since 2017 when our friend group was SUPER into undertale and we had a minecraft world where we were cringe and awesome we were just kids. everything is SO cringe. you have to understand this

and everyone continues to be friends etc etc i dont remember a lot from 2020-2021 but i get into homestuck and rose is crazy about danganronpa and like chucky and icp and stuff like that. assorted nonsense. at this point im CRAZY crazy about homestuck. rose reads a little bit of homestuck. she plays danganronpa and the sims and valorant. we text every day on discord in the friend group discord server. she helps me cosplay dirk strider for the first time with her knowledge from cosplaying danganronpa. its still cringe as hell admittedly but by god were we free

and then..... well rose lived around the same area as the friend group did. most of them anyway. but in 2021? late 2021 ish? she MOVED AWAY. to a little further. to where its kind of a hassle to visit. and she moves schools. and then she TURNS NORMAL!!!!!!!!!!!

I think my favorite thing about homestuck so far is how big the theme of loneliness is? especially with the beta kids (in my mind at least). like I don't think any of them mention friends besides each other and Jade literally lives on an island completely alone. I like how all the beta kids deal with this loneliness in slightly different ways too! and then troll society is so hostile that it's almost impossible to make meaningful connections. I'm just a sucker for when a group of characters are outcasts and weirdos but they find community in each other! :) gotta be one of my favorite tropes

another aspect I really like about Homestuck is how it takes things that exist in videogames only and adapts them to its world (captchalouges are the first example I think of)

The way I see callout culture being used in fandom spaces is not about making the fandom safer. Its puritanical.

Its bringing fear. Intolerance. And driving people away.

I used to say a lot of homophobic, transphobic, and racist shit when I was younger. And you know what, I feel like shit about it. But I had people in my life that gave me the chance to learn.

They gave me the chance to better myself.

They didnt bully me.

They didnt harass me.

They understood that I am a human. I make mistakes. Im flawed. But more importantly, I can change. And I did. I prove to myself and others I have changed.

You, who are quick to bring up the past, dont take into account I would slap my younger self in the face. So would many others. Ive seen it time. And time. And time again.

People's past being dug up and used as a sludgehammer to their lives. More specifically, people havent done anything to warrent such a level of digging. People who have changed.

If you dislike someone, cool. You dont have a reason, sometimes you just have a feeling and dont like someone. You dont have to justify it right away. Bring up that 5 years they said some BS, even if they dont now. Just leave it alone. Let it be. Its not worth it. Use that mental energy and time to do something productive, like paint.

Someone has a different opinion? Just respectfully disagree and move on with it. Have a civilized debate. Dont harass them.

An artist draws a character different from canon or in a certain way? Dont bully them to the point they try to take their own life.

A cosplayer doesnt want to cosplay a certain thing or act/look/talk like the character theyre cosplaying? Dont be snooty about it. Theyre happy. Let them be themselves. If they want to act and talk the character at certain times and not other, be chill about it. Theyre performers AND people. Treat them like a human being.

Dont like a ship? Block the tag. Dont engage. Just move on with your life. Ignore it. Focus on the ships you love.

A writer writes abusive ship content? Just dont read it. Go back to "Dont Like, Dont Read". No one is forcing you to read it. Just move past it and go read some fluff.

Doesnt mean they support abuse or abusive realtionships. That is an incredibly heavy and damaging accusation to make with no proof aside from a measly fanfiction. You cannot go to the police with just that and expect anything to be done. If that were the case, a lot of writers would be under arrest and in prison. But they arent. Ya know why? Because they themselves have not commited a crime. Writing a book on sensitive material isnt grounds for public humiliation and torture. Same with any other serious accusation (pedophile seems to be a go to). Youre cheapening them. Boy who cried wolf style.

Everything above, I have seen occur hundreds of times, across multiple fandoms. The saddest part is I see it hit hardest with the shows that ask for love, kindness, and understanding.

The arguments sound like the "video games cause violence" arguments and in case youre wondering, there is little to no correlation. Not hard to go to google scholar for research.

People seem to forget Context Matters. People try to argue that it doesnt matter the context, but it does.

An example of how I see it used.

If I say "Hitler rebuilt Germany and revitalized the economy from ruin. Though this was at the cost of millions of innocent lives. He used his power to destroy the lives of those he saw as unclean." People will take "Hitler rebuilt Germany and revitalized the economy from ruins" to try and say Im a Nazi or a Nazi sympathizer. Even when the rest of my statement condemns the actions.

Thats how I see it used.

Its manipulative. Its stupid. Its pathetic. If you have to take me or anyone out of context to prove your point, your point is already invalid.

This has destroyed people I have never heard of and people I follow. Its pushed them away. They leave. No longer making content. It makes people scared. To write. To draw. To cosplay. We have to protect against harmful people, but not at the cost of so many innocent creators....

dude like, cosplay is for everyone? cosplay is not an audition where you need to have specific body, it's a freaking cosplay, a hobby - an act to wear a clothes or hair similar like a character we wanted. and the most important part is how you learn about the character's personality, how to understand how they act(if you're going to perform at cosplay competition) and most importantly it should be fun! because we did it out of love. we love the characters, we simply want to try to be like them. but not about having 'the right body'. NO. cosplay never had that kind of rules, ever. In every competition, there'd never be rules such as, for example:

you need to be white or black, you shouldn't be an asian, or something like having to have a proper height, NO. It's all about general rules simply like: your outfit needs to be as accurate as possible, you need to act in character (not ooc), etc etc. It's literally for everyone, and something like body type, skin type, it never be a problem.

So I fucking hate it, when some people ignorantly comments on somebody's cosplay being "inaccurate" just because that person's body isn't ideal(-FOR THEM, there's no such thing as right body, ideal body. fuck all of them. fuck beauty fucking standard).

You want to do cosplay? Go for it. Do it, dont think about how your body should be blahblahblah, your body is freaking fine. your body is alright. It's fine just the way you are now. Don't stop doing things you love just because some people being a jerk. You know what's the best part? If you keep going on, you'll annoy that kind of person and watching them feeling annoyed is one of the best thing so. It's worth it.

Gorillaz Analysis

Caskit’s not ready to throw all their cards on the table but the time has come!!! 

Okay then, I had to think long and hard about what I wanted to talk about here with Gorillaz cause DAMN!! 

I love gorillaz, 

I love the characters 

damon is a gift that we just dont deserve 

But how did I end up in the fandom pool? 

Well for one, I have heard of gorillaz music back in middleschool but at the time I was busy with Invader Zim and Inuyasha as well as jumping into this band wagon as well  (Full metal Alchemist) 

so by the time I turned to look at Gorillaz was when phase 3 was JUST wrapping up and making way for phase 4. which means I jumped into a fandom that had characters that I knew NOTHING ABOUT. Do you know what that means?

It means I also had no understanding or knowledge of why people shipped “this or that” in the fandom, but I gained some intel on the characters and the growing plot of the story, but other than that, I didnt understand why I was drawn to a particular “ship” in the fandom.

Once upon a time, caskit discovered 2doc and was not surprised that this was a ship. I have seen similar stuff that has a common theme that i was drawn to at the time. I was more interested in why fans ship them so I dived in head first into the boiling lava and came to a conclusion.,.....

I dont see them as able (capable?) of ever ending up in the way that most 2doc shippers would pick. The two are chaotic on levels of different tiers of “weird and gross” and I dont really have a reason as to why i was drawn to the ship, but It made me want to analyse what exactly a stable relationship is!

I basically walked around in that area of the fandom and didnt really form any “attachment” to it. I never really experienced a “healthy relationship”, lived in childhood and teen years were I went through life avoiding relationships. So I didnt have a good start, but I knew eventually that I would have to explain myself. 

I feel bad that I wouldnt be able to give a solid answer to what makes me want to sit down and analyse any scenario that has “present abuse undertones” but I know that in the past and how I grew up with what I was exposed to...That I would come to realize how unhealthy it is just for me. 

This post isnt particularly about 2doc itself, but its more about discussing how I handled MY reaction to something that I have seen over and over. In a way, I could see those abusive tones that were present.

Basically Caskit never experienced good healthy relationships and decided that it was a good idea to use gorillaz as a processing strategy....not a good idea in the end cause...OOOHHHHHHH 

It confused me more than before!!! 

I got friends that tag their stuff, and I dont really get so bothered with peoples own opinions, cause I was more worried about how I would come to understand everything. 

When I think about how fans are dividing and putting up a wall to keep “haters outa my yard”  it usually has to deal with shipping stuff, and character hating. And I guess I was confused about everyone’s perception of the characters.

Talking about the characters, I dont have a “least favorite to most” cause I have specific connections to them in different ways. 

I can find similarities to noodle for the expectations she had in a band at age 10 and growing up (plus we are both gays that dont like to publicly talk about relationships) 

I connect with Russel cause I lost a piece of myself  after a paranormal encounter and 3 near death experiences and suffer hallucinations. His protective demeanor to little noodle clicked with me. I see him as the Heart and soul, dedicated and warm friendly guy. ( you mean a decent human being right?)

I relate to 2d in a way that I share his enthusiasm, and mad bravery to live with the same guy who ran him over and caused 2 accidents that are permanent. 

I relate to murdoc in a weird way...  His childhood hits too close to home for me, as a CSA survivor of 2 incidents, pain addict and victim of abuse, draws similarities. But there were things that he has done that match things to my past like the abusive father, and dwelling on the darker aspect of a bittersweet reality. I was expressing physical violence to “show affection” and was never called out for it. I was not just a victim, I was also the abuser and since it was something that murdoc is faced with, is why I hated him. He is (for me) the thing I hate about myself. 

When I saw more and more fans hating on murdoc I wondered if people would ever think I was the same as him. Fans didnt like the way he treated 2d  and the rest of the band, And I agreed. Fans hated him for lying and causing drama and I agreed.  

His ignorance was a comedy slapstick (dressing in a nazi uniform cause he thought it “looked cool” despite russel telling him that its not a good idea) and was seen as the “crazy hooligan that has delusional dreams of fame”  and it bothered me that jamie used this to cover up allot of obvious issues that needed to be addressed. and the way that the fandom treated him made me think about how I would be accused of being like him. 

(thank goodness I didnt cause a car accident and have to sell my soul to satan for a shot at fame with a kickass band and didnt make uncomfortable sexual jokes or ignore others that tried to help me.) 

I can separate what justifies the hate on murdoc when it comes to abuse and causing shit to go down. becuase I did those things in the past, but it didnt take me more than a decade or more to realize that what I did was wrong! I didnt take forever to change for the better. so Im frustrated at him for taking so long to turn around and go “holly fuck im a bastard! I should probably fix that”

I dont hate him for being an idiot, I hate that he symbolizes all things wrong about me that never got closure! 

him admitting to being the cause of 2d’s social anxiety and eye damage as well as the abuse is easier said than done! but the fact that he is letting everything out of the “in-denial basket” is nice for me to see, cause right now Healing and progression in closure to issues of trauma is what is important to me. 

The endgame for my perspective on 2d and murdocs relationship is this: 

I dont want to ship them

I dont even see it as a thing regardless of character development and both guys working through their own shit themselves. 

I am not the best person to explain what a toxic or abusive relationship can be. 

Why? becuase I lived through it and I was both the victim and abuser to myself  and grew up without a good relationship (and I have a fear of positive affection) so I dont enjoy going through the same pattern as before where i shipped abuse in the past as a “dumb 13 year old weeboo” 

I dont view their relationship as romantic, or platonic, or healthy. 

I just want the boys to enjoy their own character growth individually. 

I would like to eventually see a friendship with them But I’ll be more excited if instead the whole band eventually gain a healthy relationship with everyone.  

Year 2018 marks the year I jumped in head first into gorillaz as a blind fruit bat 

(I call it the year caskit played with fire) for cosplaying ‘murdoc fuckn wrinkles’ at a convention around the time the fandom was yelling at him and jamming to 2d’s album. 

Caskit jumped into the shipping lava all for Behavioral analyzing and hopped over fences to see other fans perspectives of characters they liked and hated just to make sure Caskit could understand the illuminati that is Gorillaz. 

I made friends all over the fandom, and thanks to a few people, I gained more confidence to push my art skills and create some kickass art of Gorillaz. 

And yeah I yap yap about murdoc ( looks over @russelhusselhobbs im sorry you put up with my bullshit) but remember peeps. 

I like hearing about the others and have gotten more into 2d’s character as well as Jumping over the fence to go hang out with russel fans and listen to fangirling from friends and just trying to be a freakn fairy godmother and deliver some good representing art.

But YEAHHHHHH!!! My family being transcendental Buddhists. There is much pressure to be the absolute and not to be consumed or clouded by the mind. To be ascetic This is something that weights heavy on me . I relate heavily with Anakin. Anakin has fearful dreams of loss. I too have had fearful dreams of loss my whole life and continue to do so. I seek a stable path and yet to have found it. Like Anakin I desire acceptance guidance and approval and validation. I want to know what if what I am doing is right. When it comes to relationships I am either mistrustful or very attached and sometimes especially early in life It was very hard to separate from those I had feelings for.   A lot of these traits I see In Anakin. So I see myself most as Anakin 4. what headcanon will you defend to the death?:  I don’t know if I have one specific headcanon I wont let go but since I have bipolar myself the ideas of Anakin also ‘suffering’ makes me feel a little bit happier5. what planet would you most like to visit? :For it’s looks, Naboo6. what planet would you most like to live on?: I don’t know... Still probably Naboo... or Zeltros and just party all the time. I think they themselves are complacent in a system where they think they have they answers. Where emotions have no use. They are more quick to shut conversations down then to help their fellow jedi. I probably wouldn't I tend to not genderbend. i tend to think the gender of the character shapes the experience of the story and to change the gender changes the characters personality but thinking on it.
