Blake has always admired the paintings of an artist called Ruby Rose. Being an etcher herself, she sets herself on a mission to show her works to as many people as she can... in the way only an etcher can. But after making a copy so good that gets the attention from Ruby herself, she's invited to work alongside her, and surprisingly, meeting the painter is not the only good thing that happens to her. There's also her sister.

Will I ever be normal about (we are) the fault line by @iguessyouregonnamissthepantyraid? Lol no. Today I’m writing a meta about Vlad’s dad from the fic, because every time he shows up when I reread I get FEELINGS.
I just,, imagine you’re Alexander. You haven’t spoken to your son for 20 years, and now he’s been presumed dead in outer space for just over a year. You know what he is, who he is, what he’s done. You never really had a good relationship but despite it all, you presumably still mourned him. Because that was your son, and you are his father, and you still love him.
Then you see the news, Vlad (or is it Plasmius now?) is back. Having kidnapped three teenagers from Illinois, from the same town that other ghost boy was snatched from by the government a week and a half prior. That opens a whole can of worms that’s probably best left untouched, so you don’t touch it.
Then he washes up on the beach, five minutes from the house in New Jersey he never visited you at, the three kidnapped teenagers in tow. You don’t know what to think, you know who he is and what he’s done, what he’s doing now, but the girl with the pistol looks like she might shoot you if you get closer, and he’s unconscious and not breathing, but with a pulse.
You preform CPR, his eyes flutter open long enough to recognize you before he passes out again. You offer to call the police, looking to each the teenagers in turn.
They all beg you not too.
So you load your son you haven’t spoken too in 20 years, your son who became a supervillain, your son you thought was lost in space,
And you take him home safe.
Because he’s still your son. And you are still his father.
I had a lot of fun with the 12 days of fandom but it was damn near impossible to only pick 12 fics. This is such a great fandom with an absolute fuck ton of amazing stories that the world needs to know about.
So, here’s a Fic Rec Friday:
Please. You have to read
Sustineo.
More than that, you’ve gotta listen to the podfic by stillicide_snow. It’s beautiful and perfect and I really cannot recommend it highly enough.
David is a famous artist. After a traumatic event, he becomes more or less a recluse. And there he stays. Until art critic Patrick Brewer interviews him for an article, and helps him start the healing process.
actually i think sony should take their sweet fucking time with beyond the spiderverse cuz even with the time they took with atsv it wasn't enough for the animators to have proper working conditions. like take ten years i don't fucking care, people can bitch and moan but i would rather know the employees aren't working 8hours a day plus overtime for 7 days a fucking week to get a movie about spiderman done cuz "waah waaaah i wanna see it" people won't shut up and sony demands their film be made for the profit of it all
As a writer who doesn't often read other fics because of personal preferences, but also to focus on my own and spend a lot of time writing something completely to my own exact tastes instead I gotta ask
(This is specifically about long-fics, but short fics can work too)
Personally, I have specific preferences/squicks that make it hard for me to read certain things and prefer to write what I like instead of looking for it in other places (That's not to say that it can't be found! I just find writing it to be a lot more satisfying)
I'm browsing the WWI shelves (as you do) and notice a very old book about the war. I glance at the first pages that talk about how one day the war will be over and we'll look at this place and not see any signs of the battlefield.
Then it hits me. And I check the publishing date.
This book was printed before the war's end. Not written. Printed. The physical object was created in 1918, while the war in question was raging and the end was as yet uncertain.
Now I'm standing on the other side of the apocalypse, with this physical link to that era in my hands. I'm living proof that the war did end and life did go on and we can all look at the end of the world as a long-ago memory.
Reading old books is cool enough, connecting our minds and hearts through the ideas of people who lived long ago, but there's something extra profound about holding a copy of the book that comes from the time that it was written. It's a physical link between the past and the present connecting me to those long-ago people. A piece of the past come into the future that gives me the chance to almost take the hand of some long-ago reader, to hold something they could have held, connecting not just mentally but physically to their era, a moment of connection across more than a century.
This is a fan comic inspired by Cass' Apocalyptic Series and is just my own little fan art of how Donnie and Casey could have gotten closer!

hebehjeabaje I did a warm up doodle of Mikey on the canvas and liked it so much I wanted to incorporate Mikey somehow (literally made up an excuse just to drop a bunch of easter eggs for fun).
Over 6 years ago, Technoblade and Etoiles played together on United UHC. Although they never got to meet each other on the QSMP, it's nice to see that they already had some nice banter and a fun dynamic developing during the brief time they knew each other. Here are some highlights from the video where they played together!

Technoblade: Bonjour, mis amis! (Hello, my friends!) Oh god, we already have a zombie on us. No! It's targeting me 'cuz I have subs!
Etoiles: Excellent teammates.
Technoblade: Do trees spawn in these worlds?
Etoiles: [Laughing at a screenshot of Technoblade saying "deforestation has gotten pretty bad"]
Technoblade: It's gotten pretty bad, man. What is this?
Etoiles: B-bonjour.
Technoblade: Stop speakin' Chinese.
Etoiles: You're the best Skywars player, dude. That's why.
Technoblade: That doesn't mean much.
Technoblade: Oh my god, I found diamonds!
Etoiles: Oh, whoa.
Technoblade: Subscribe to Technoblade! I'm suddenly a UHC god.
Etoiles: Oh, I got diamonds too! :D
Technoblade: ...Wow, way to ruin my moment. Wow. Can I just have this one moment?
Etoiles: Yeah.
Technoblade: Does everything- does everything need to be a competition? First diamonds I've ever mined in Minecraft.
Etoiles: Let's redo it, Techno. Let's say I don't have diamonds. I don't have diamonds, you have-
Teammate: I found diamonds!
Technoblade: Oh my god.
Technoblade: I have seven diamonds! And I'm not saying that to one-up you, but- I mean I am, but I mean I'm- I'm also tellin' the truth.
Teammate: Nobody knows which one of you guys is the mole.
Technoblade: Yeah, that's gonna be very awkward.
Etoiles: Maybe Technoblade is already-
Technoblade: I'm right behind you.
Etoiles: Technoblade is already saying to his friend-
Technoblade: I'm already in the Mole chat, plannin' your death.
Etoiles: Like, I'm kind of scared of Technoblade, actually.
Technoblade: I'm not even good, why would you be scared of me?
Etoiles: Because you're the King of Bedwars.
Technoblade: Alright, ok, ok, so here's how it works- I get paid per episode, right? So I'm not gonna betray you on Episode 2.
Etoiles: [Laughs]
Technoblade: Now let me enchant.
Etoiles: I'm so bad at hearing sound because when I'm hearing lava-
Technoblade: Nah, it's 'cuz the sounds are in French, isn't it?
