Here are a few 'interesting' adaptations. I like some of them for their own merits, but mostly dislike them as Carmilla adaptations for the below reasons, with some notable exceptions:
Vampyr: The Dream of Allan Gray (1932 film): The first Carmilla inspired movie, although it keeps almost NOTHING from the novella except 'female vampire'. In this case, a creepy old lady rather than a charming young lesbian. This is a really moody, slow, acid trip of a film though, a treat for fans of vintage vampire film. (3/10)
Hammer Karnstein Trilogy: The Vampire Lovers is the gayest and most book-accurate. Carmilla still kisses/seduces men before killing them, boo. The second one her identically-named reincarnation is blonde and has sex with / falls in love with a man booooooo. She's not in the third one at all. It's all very 70's and nowhere near queer enough, but at least we got the incomparable Ingrid Pitt in the first movie. 5/10.
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust: 'Carmilla' shows up as a surprise third act villain. She's an elegant and imposing vampire queen with a castle called "Cjethe" and the Vampire King offed her previously for being A Bit Too Extra. She's... Bathory. She's Elizabeth Bathory, right down to the name of her historical castle, the elaborate gowns and the blood-bathing. Bathory in Castlevania Nocturne even looks a lot like this one. Cool scary vampire lady, but Carmilla In Name Only. 4/10
Castlevania (Games): She's fine here, but mostly just kind of a big Dracula groupie like most of the other non-Dracula vampires. Often depicting as a flying skull or mask crying bloody tears, with optional succubus-like figure reclining on top of it. Cool.
Rondo of Blood has her appear together with a ninja vampire Laura with bunny ears because why the hell not. 6/10
Castlevania (Netflix show): Baddass, angry Karen. She's amazing in the first season when she's scheming against Dracula, but after that she just sort of sits on her butt sipping wine and griping about men for a whole season until Isaac storms her castle. A cool character but not a great Carmilla, because Carmilla for me is defined by how much she loves women, not how much she hates men. Still amazing voice work by Jaime Murray though and her last stand was insanely baddass. 7/10
Carmilla Web Series / Movie: My favorite adaptation. It's obviously playing waaaay fast and loose with the canon and reframing her as a charming antihero in a zany urban fantasy, but there's deep current of love for the source material, especially in the movie. Natasha Negovanlis has charisma off the charts and the Hollstein romance is adorable. This Carmilla might be a black-leather-wearing snarky millenial goth with a Canadian accent, but as the show goes on it peels back layer after layer of the romantic, poetic, wistful, world-weary immortal hinted at by the novella. This show redeems LeFanu's lovelorn villain in all the best ways. 10/10.
2019 movie / Styria movie: I still haven't seen these, have heard good things about the gothic cinematography on the most recent one but not good things about the rest of it. The trailer looked moody and pretty though, I may watch it at some point.

EEK SO INTERESTED,,, whats the premise/story so far :000
OKAY SO!
Everything I've thought of so far for the fnaf SB/fnaf movie au;
First of all it's like uhhh. Taking the plot of the fnaf movie and inserting it into SB. so it's not Mike and Abby at the Pizzaplex, nor is it Vanessa and Gregory in fnaf 1 (as in. The movie setting)
No no. It swaps characters around to make the plot work within the Security Breach timeline
I'll go into it below the cut.... :]
(Game) Vanessa takes (movie) Mike's role. She's struggling financially and isn't gonna be able to take care of Gregory for much longer if she doesn't pick up her act; they can be canonical siblings in this setting, let's say.
Gregory takes Abby's place of course, however he stays 14-- so he's in middle school, not elementary.
Not much changes for them both from the movie lore; you could have random ass characters fill Max and Jane's roles etc, and it changes nothing.
But who's the cop?
Everyone makes it Mike, it feels like. There's a million Greg & Evan aus, a million Greg & Mike aus, so I decided... why not just. Shake things up?
So. We have Elizabeth 'Shelley' Afton as the cop! She's young, but not too young. Younger than Vanessa for sure, probably in her late teens? (Idk, maybe she's a cop in training?? Idk how it works here, let alone in the US)
Last of all, who's William? Who is the yellow rabbit?
I figured I don't want William to be alive. I want him gone. But then why would Elizabeth stick around? Well... This au makes the Mimic William's creation. Sorry, Murrays erasure, but just trust me :P
The 'yellow rabbit' would just be a suit Mimic wears. Glitchtrap's costume, maybe.
The amimatronics... are not possessed. Yes, I know that may be strange, but hear me out again... they believe Mimic to be their friend until Gregory shows them the truth, bc Mimic is one of them, right? They're unaware of the murders. And yes, this means Freddy can be friendly... but I think he would still start off as mean to Vanessa. At least, sort-of. He doesn't trust her.
And this does all happen at the Pizzaplex! Shenanigans ensue
Cassie, Ellis and Tony are either some of the dead kids or they'd be saved for a sequel based on the second fnaf movie. Evan takes Garret's place since Vanessa is an Afton in the movie, idk.
None of this is fully thought out yet and I have a lot of other things going on so I haven't dedicated time to thinking things through... so I apologise if it's a little rough abdkjdjjf
One final thing! Take this unfinished art of the metal rabbit :]
Inspired by one of @lizzy-bonnet 's wonderful posts about Elizabeth Murray (THANK YOU!), I decided to try and do some research to answer the question that had been bothering me (and probably only me!):
How old were the Murrays, when their youngest sister (Juliet) was born?
Let me start with quoting Douglas Starr: "Elizabeth and Laura and Wallace and Oliver and Ruth were old Archibald Murray’s children. His first wife was their mother. When he was sixty he married again—a young slip of a girl—who died when your mother was born. Juliet was twenty years younger than her half-family, as she used to call them." (Emily of New Moon).
So, here we go (my very own order):
I. Elizabeth Murray: about 26-27.
"Aunt Elizabeth was nearly seventy." [...] "You will be twenty-four your next birthday," said Aunt Elizabeth." (Emily's Quest).
So, let's say she is about 69-70 when Emily is 23, which would make her about 46-47, when Emily is born.
We don't know for sure how old Juliet was when she gave birth to Emily. Yet, her age might be guessed... at least, a bit.
Douglas tells 11 year old Emily: “I met her [Juliet] twelve years ago, when I was sub-editor of the Enterprise up in Charlottetown and she was in her last year at Queen’s." (Emily of New Moon). Queens is a two-year course, and if Juliet attended it right after Shrewsbury High School, she would be around 19 when she met Douglas and 20 when Emily was born.
Elizabeth also gives such an older sister's vibes. She rules the family and even orders Wallace to "leave this child [Emily] alone". (Emily of New Moon).
II. Wallace Murray: 23-26.
"Your Uncle Wallace might, seeing as he reckons himself the head of the family. He’s only got a grown-up daughter."
So, I would say, he is the second oldest (and a first-born son). He seems to think he is the head of the family, which would be understandable if he was the oldest son. There is not much more evidence, but I would say he might have been 1-3 years younger than Elizabeth (so, 23-26).
III. (or IV?) Oliver Murray: 19-25.
Not much evidence here, either, but one of Oliver's children - Andrew - is only a year or two older than Emily and another unnamed child (probably daughter) gets married, when Emily is 20: "Emily, just home from an interminable week's visit at Uncle Oliver's, where a cousin had been getting married" (Emily's Quest).
So, at least a couple of his kids are about Emily's age (which doesn't really prove anything, due to the fact his own father was 61, when his last child was born).
Yet, Oliver is old enough to have "bristly white moustache." when Emily meets him, so I would say he is probably older than Ruth. He seems to be in his early to mid 50s, when he meets Emily (so, 39-44, when Emily is born?). I think he is Wallace's younger brother (he doesn't have the importance of a self-proclaimed "head of the family").
I always thought that New Moon was going to belong to Andrew, not because he was the oldest son's male child, but because Uncle Wallace didn't have a son, only a daughter (and girls did not inherit anything then). On the other hand, Elizabeth ruled The New Moon, so maybe it was not the matter of gender...
IV. Ruth Dutton: about 22.
When Emily is about sixteen (the night she and Perry get caught "kissing"), we learn that:
"Ruth Murray," he said, "do you remember the story that got around forty years ago about you and Fred Blair? Do you?" [...] "When she was a girl of eighteen she had been trapped in a very ugly situation."
So, Ruth is about 58, when Emily is 16 (42, when Emily is born, and 22 at Juliet's birth). She seems to be a bit younger than Oliver (although not sure about it).
V. Laura Murray: 14-18.
She and Dr Burnley were believed to have been romantically involved with one another, before Beatrice Mitchell came along. Ilse was the same age as Emily and Dr. Burnley was 36, when she was born. Aunt Laura was probably around Dr Burnley's own age, perhaps few years younger, or older.
So I would say: 34-38, when Emily was born:
"Rhoda said once that Aunt Elizabeth hoped Dr. Burnley and Aunt Laura would make a match of it—which, you know means get married—but that is not so."
"Beatrice Mitchell—one of the Shrewsbury Mitchells. She was only eighteen when Allan married her. He was thirty-five." (Emily of New Moon).
It would make her the youngest. Actually, it fits her character: she seems meek, gentle, delicate and visibly younger than the rest.
She looks to be in her 40s, when she meets Emily for the first time: "She was almost pretty, with her delicate features and the heavy coils of pale, sleek, fair hair, faintly greyed, pinned closely all around her head." (Emily of New Moon).
Her hair doesn't turn white before the winter Emily is so sick: "Laura Murray, whose hair had turned from ash to snow that winter, went to her room and knelt down by her bed to thank God." (Emily's Quest).
Appearance: She is traditionally beautiful by Westerosi standards. She has high cheekbones, deep blue eyes and thick soft auburn hair that is lighter than her mother’s. She is described as tall, graceful and ‘womanly’. Her hair is dyed when she becomes Alayne.

for my beloved followers interested in mormon polygamy name discourse, i have compiled and presented a list of the children of four different 19th century mormon polygamist men, ranging from 30 to 66 children. I included middle names when I could find them and the children are listed in chronological order of their birth.

On October 26th 1327 Elizabeth de Burgh, Queen Consort of Robert the Bruce died at Cullen Castle, Banffshire.
Note sources disagree and some say October 27th.
In 1302 Elizabeth de Burgh married Robert Bruce, Earl of Carrick, at Writtle, near Chelmsford in Essex. Bruce was a widower with a young daughter. He had first married Isabella of Mar who died, in 1296, a short time after giving birth to a daughter, Marjory Bruce. Elizabeth's father was one of the most powerful Irish nobles of the period, Richard Óg de Burgh, 2nd Earl of Ulster.
When The Bruce first stood up to English rule he was beset by defeat and he sent Elisabeth, Marjory, his sisters Christina and Mary Bruce, and Countess Isobel to Kildrummy Castle in the north, where his brother Neil was to protect them. Unfortunately the castle was laid to siege, the Royal women escaped but were captured not long after at the sanctuary of St Duthac at Tain in Easter Ross where William II, Earl of Ross violate the sanctity, later handing them over to the English. He seems to have been forgiven by The Bruce for this as his name appears on The Declaration of Arbroath in 1320, perhaps showing a merciful nature to King Robert.
Isobel was held captive in an iron cage at Berwick Castle. Robert’s younger sister, Mary Bruce, was locked into an iron cage at Roxburgh Castle. She was just 24 years old. Mary spent the next four years caged and humiliated. Her older sister Christian Bruce was shown more compassion and was imprisoned in a Gilbertine nunnery in Lincolnshire. Christian’s husband, Sir Christopher Seton, was hanged, drawn and beheaded at Dumfries.
Elizabeth was held prisoner in England. It is thought that she was better treated because her father Richard de Burgh, Earl of Ulster, was a close friend of King Edward I. Elizabeth spent the next eight years in captivity in Burstwick, Bisham Manor, Windsor Castle, Shaftesbury Abbey, Barking Abbey and Rochester Castle.
Marjory Bruce, Robert’s daughter, was only 12 years old when she was captured at Tain. At first King Edward decided that she would be locked into an iron cage and hung for all to see from the walls of the Tower of London. Edward relented and Marjory was held in a Gilbertine nunnery in Yorkshire.
After the Battle of Bannockburn the Bruce was able to trade English nobles for his family. Mary Bruce went on to be twice married and had a son, Iain. Christian Bruce married Sir Andrew Murray who later became guardian of Scotland. Christian later led the defence of the besieged Kildrummy Castle at 62 years old and lived to 84.
Elizabeth de Burgh and Robert the Bruce were reunited and went on to have four children - Matilda, Margaret, John and David, who would become David II, King of Scots. Elizabeth died on this day 1327 and was buried in Dunfermline Abbey.
YouTube GIFs || Crows’ Eye Productions: Getting Dressed in the 18th Century — Dido Elizabeth Belle (1779)
In the later 18th century, two young women grew up together at Kenwood House, near London. Such was the affection in which the two young women were held, that their uncle, Lord Mansfield, commissioned a joint portrait of them from the accomplished Scottish portraitist, David Martin. Dido Belle and Lady Elizabeth Murray came into the care of Lord and Lady Mansfield when they were both very young; Elizabeth after the death of her mother and Dido at the request of her father, Captain John Lindsay.
… Dido was born in England. Her father, Maria Belle, was an enslaved African woman who had become the mistress of Captain Lindsay. Her mother’s history remains uncertain, but Dido and Elizabeth were cousins and they were cared for, educated, and loved equally by Lord and Lady Mansfield. … Dido Belle, loved and respected by her uncle, Lord Chief Justice Mansfield whose rulings in cases of slavery paved the way for abolition, may be more important than we can ever know.

Will history come full circle? Or can one generation learn from their parents’ disastrous mistakes?
Ever since I started picking up speed with this project, my friend @coeli1000 has been sending me suggestions to help me fill the blog. I haven't used all of her suggestions, for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it's hard to find good pictures of a particular outfit. Sometimes it's an outfit that's already been covered by one of the other posters (I like to give preference to outfits that haven't been done already). Sometimes I don't feel that I know enough about the source to talk about it intelligently. Sometimes I just run out of days in a month before I can get to everything!
So, for the month of "anything goes," I thought I'd feature a bunch of her suggestions that I haven't covered in detail so far. I'll be posting them in groups rather than individually. I reserve the right to cover any of these outfits in full at a later time, but meanwhile, here's a sample!
