So here are my takes on what some of the ScarVi kiddos will look like as they grow up and go about their careers. Headcanons below, as developed with @kourabiedes in our many ramblings together.

Carmine - I tried the crossed bangs, but she just looked too young with them. I opted for a slightly more mature sideswept bang and an elegantly tied back coiffe for her duties as eventual Caretaker of Mossui Town, and by extension, Kitakami Hall. Koura has a lot more nuanced headcanons for this one, so I'd best let her tell you all about those... Kieran - Like, his sister, I ditched the fuckass bangs. He is pretty, but unlike his sister, he doesn't really know or flaunt it. Over the course of his friendship with Alanna (who is a Galarian native and former Champion Challenge semi-finalist), he has become quite curious of the region and has decided to take on the challenge for himself. He begins his journey at a familiar dojo... Penny - So Koura and I both agree that Penn is very Trans coded. So we leaned hard into it and I went hardcore femme with her adult design. We though for a long time about what she'd do career-wise, and it dawned on me very suddenly that she'd be a perfect fit as the new Director for Naruva Academy. She is very professional and put-together in her business life, but is absolutely still a cave gremlin when she gets home with her vee-vees. We also have some very very specific speculation about her parentage that we'll share, but her design elements will be a hint for the very astute among you. Arven - A chef rarely leaves their hair down when in the kitchen (it is actually against the rules in a professional setting if you don't know lol). Arven has gone for a more practical ponytail, but still keeps his luscious locks. He does gain renown for his efforts in nutrition and cooking, but not in the way that someone like Kofu or Katie does. He is more interested in the health benefits of his meals, and shares some lab space with Alanna when developing and testing new recipes. Alanna - She is my half of the "Juliana" in this situation. Koura and I have kind of split her into two halves; one for my trainer Alanna and one for her trainer, Robin. Alanna is sharp, competitive, put together, and very social. Robin is much more the "gremlin" archetype. She explores every possible ravine, mountain, and cave. She doesn't really do people. Alanna finds and trains Miraidon, who is the central 'raidon in the story, whilst Robin finds a full-strength Koraidon from the get-go. Alanna eventually becomes a professor of what she dubs True Evolution; as in evolution in the way we know it in the real world. Not only that, but how the crater and Terastal energy affects living forms. This latter subject has been a collaborative effort with long time friend and mentor, Briar. Alanna takes after both of her parents pretty equally. Her mother is my Galar trainer, Blair, and Raihan b/c I like him. He's fun. We don't need no Florian. F/O Headcanons: Pokemon Universe Edition!

(More will be added with time)

(Also, many of these are inspired from headcanons I’ve previously read, so you may recognize them. Unfortunately, most of these have been in my phone for a long time so I don’t remember some of the original sources; if you do though, please message me so I can give proper credits)

Aromatisse tend to make potpurri nests

Nessa and Raihan are cousins.

Leon does not know how to break open a safe or pick locks… Hop knows how to do both. In fact Hop has numerous skills that are also a little shady.

It’s hard keeping a Riolu at their beginning stage because they are very loving, loyal and friendly pokemon. Don’t give your kid a Riolu because you will be taking care of a Lucario.

Phantump can possess all kinds of tree stumps (fruit trees, redwoods, birch trees, etc.). This gives them some natural variation in appearance.

Kirlia will often "intern" under Gallade and Gardevoir in order to enhance their psychic abilities. Which one a Kirlia trains under is thought to influence its evolution if male.

Magikarp are popular among breeders because they have a good amount of variation and produce lots of eggs. You can get Magikarp/Gyarados in various colors and patterns because of this. This is also true among Rattata, but they’re less popular due to people considering them weak and boring.

Absol are known for being paranoid. They are extremely protective of their trainers and will try to prevent any negative thing from happening to them, even if that thing is "leaf blows into their face" or something equally mundane.

Sylveon and Umbreon get along surprisingly well because they're both stealth hunters.

One popular textile company uses a stylized Leavanny for their logo.

Modern Pokeballs create simulations for the Pokemon inside that make them feel like they're in a large environment. In addition to making the Pokeball feel extra comfortable, they also help keep the Pokemon enriched.

Eevee and their evolutions arguably have the cutest courtship rituals on the planet. They start off by showing interest with short yips and sniffing, studying each other. After that, play-fighting ensues. When that's done, the pair share tiny kisses on the cheek.

Umbreon can spray poison from their rings. They can poison themselves if they breathe it in accidentally due to not being poison-types, but the toxins are pretty mild.

Leavanny can fly, but only for very short distances and not very far off the ground.

A popular rumor states that the more powerful the Lucario the more black they have on their bodies, but there's nothing scientific to back up this claim.

There are some that believe that Fidough evolve faster when around fire-type Pokemon. This claim has yet to be scientifically backed, however.

Young Vulpix will actively try to get their trainers to "hold their paw for reassurance.

The Leavanny line becomes incredibly agitated if they don't have any materials to "sew" with, so make sure they have access to plenty of greenery.

Absol live in isolation out in the wild, only coming together to breed and take care of their pups.

Jolteon oddly prefer sparkling water. Many theorize that the breed generally prefer foods that cause ‘tingly’ sensations as it’s similar to the hum of electricity.

Legendary and guardian pokemon in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos are so rarely seen they are thought of as myths. Meanwhile the Tapu guardians in Alola have shown up in people's backyards to mess around with their sprinklers and lawn ornaments.

Luxray are used as police or medical Pokemon in Sinnoh due to their ability to see through objects and strong stature. They are good at finding and retrieving victims and people who need assistance. Along with that they can be trained to listen for heartbeats and give electricity in a way similar to an AED.

There is a superstition in Johto that if an Eevee jumps into a child's crib, the child is blessed. Often times for baby showers, the mother is gifted an Eevee egg for this very reason. When the kit hatches, it is left in the room with the baby. If the Eevee stays by the child's side, but outside the crib, the child is destined to be average and live a normal life. However, if the Eevee jumps inside the crib and sleeps next to the child, the child will be blessed with fortune, prosperity, and joy.

It's thought that having someone with a positive aura take care of Riolu eggs helps them to hatch faster.

Eevees tend to mimic the personality and habits of their trainers. If their trainer tends to be energetic, the Eevees will get a share of that energy too. If, on the other hand, the trainer tends to be more on the relaxed and a bit lazy side the Eevees will behave like that too.

Popplio are frequently used for public performances and other forms of entertainment. It works out nicely, as it serves as excellent enrichment for them

Swablu's soft, cotton-y down is a favorite filler for pillows, especially because they shed it often. Nowadays it's more common to find synthetic substitutes.

Eevee’s love to be groomed and accessorized, especially on their tail. They don't like baths though but they groom themselves well.

Hisuian Growlithe/Arcanine are still found in some volcanic regions, but they are incredibly rare and protected under law.

A group of Chingling/Chimecho are known as a gong.

While Vulpix and Ninetales have incredible fur, harming one is considered bad luck and, in some areas, sacrilegious.

Raihan headcanon continued

The tall dragon-type gym leader casually makes his way onto the strength training floor, not checking twice as he usually does because he hasn’t seen her there in maybe a week — so he lets his guard down. He plops down on a bench and rolls up the sleeves of his dark, orange-trimmed hoodie. “Perfect time to grab a shot for Pokegram,” Raihan thinks to himself.

One hand grabbing a 30lb dumbbell and the other pulling out his Rotomphone, Raihan begins to pose by flashing his signature fang-baring grin. Not even a second after he reaches his thumb to tap the shutter icon, he catches a glimpse of a familiar frame walking right by him, small statured and toned, clad in muscle-hugging leggings and a cropped tee. He chokes, scrambling to try and hide the selfie-taking endeavor, causing the Rotomphone to bounce off his gloved hand a couple times before getting knocked towards the woman. Raihan’s heart dropped. Fuck. FUCK.

The Rotom buzzed to a stop right at her shoulder, but not soon enough to prevent her from noticing. The woman paused in her stride and turned, her high ponytail swaying slightly behind her as she pivoted, hand gently reaching out to grasp the device. “You okay there, little guy?,” she asked, her head tilting curiously. Raihan quickly fumbled to his feet and caught himself before he lurched at her, because that wouldn’t be at all smooth. Clearing his throat, he attempted to regain his usual confident composure and stepped up to the scene. “Ah, sorry about that! My Rotomphone has a mind of its own sometimes,” Raihan laughed.

At the sound of his voice, the young trainer glanced up at Raihan, eyes taking in his features for just a moment before going back to the phone in her hand. “Yeah, no problem! It looks like your selfie got ruined though.” She handed the device back to the much taller man, screen side up, displaying a blurry image of Raihan’s face contorted in a transitionary expression between a “game face” and a look of utter embarrassment.

His crush had already walked away, but the dragon was left mortified and wanting to find the nearest 7ft hole to hide in.

That was enough of the gym for today.

The Tickle Tax

Characters: Hop, Leon, and Raihan

Summary: Hop, Leon, and Raihan are all playing a board game until a new game ensues after an unwritten rule is created.

Sitting on Hop’s bedroom floor, Leon rubs his hands together as two square dice twist in between his palms.

“Come on…” Leon shakes his cupped hands. The dice click as they jumble together. “Give me a lucky seven!”

Leon tosses the dice underhand and they roll onto the game board. One die shows a six and the other…a two. “Oof, eight spaces.” 

Despite not getting the roll he wanted, Leon moves his miniature charizard game piece eight spaces from where it was standing. Eight spaces later, the charizard is placed on a spot with a blue building. “Landed on the pokemart space,” Leon announces.

“Yes!” Hop cheers and tosses his hands in the air, “That’s my property space.” Hop holds out his palm and curls his fingers towards him like a lever, “Pay up, Lee.”

“What?” the other brother chuckles and leans his elbows on his criss-crossed legs. “I’ve landed on your property spaces five times in a row now. Are you sure you’re not rigging the game?” Leon gives Hop a poke.

Hop giggles and shoos him away. “Hehe! I’m not! I swear!”

“I don’t know, Hop,” Raihan interjects with a smile, “Five times in a row is a bit much to consider coincidence, no?”

“Yeah, what kind of game are you trying to pull here?” Leon teases.

“None!” Hop insists and holds his hands up to prove his point, “I’m playing fair and square! Honest!”

“Alright then,” Leon sits up straight, “I’ll pay the tax.” He peers at Hop from the corner of his eye with a sneaky peak. “But I’ll pay a different tax with a different currency.”

“A different tax?” Hop tilts his head to the side. He wasn’t aware this board game has multiple currencies or taxes to choose from.

“Yep,” Leon pauses to turn his way so his sneaky gaze is in full view. “A tickle tax!” Leon says and darts his hands towards Hop to tickle his little brother. The young trainer erupts into giggles and snatches at the champion’s wrists. 

“Hehehey! Leehehehehehe!” Hop squeaks with bubbly laughter. He leans back and topples to the carpet, flailing his limbs while he wriggles in an attempt to escape the silly roughhousing of his brother's plan that has interrupted the playtime of their board game.

“Hold still, Hop! I’ve got to pay the tickle tax in full! Don’t want to be in debt.” Leon looks over his shoulder to his friend, “Raihan, a hand here?”

“You’ve got it,” Raihan gives a toothy smile and rushes behind Hop. The dragon type gym leader easily grabs the boy from under his flailing arms to tickle him there, while Leon has free range his torso. Hop squeezes his arms to his sides and squeals with laughter.

“Wahahait! Wahahait! Wahahait!” Hop puts his palms in front of him to signal for a chance to speak. Leon and Raihan stop wiggling their fingers, yet still keep them in place to hover over Hop.

“Yes, Hop?” Leon asks with a smile.

Hop takes a moment to control his giggles so he can talk clearly. “Wouldn’t the tickle tax have to be paid by the one that landed on the spot?” Hop looks up at his brother.

Leon’s eyes expand in surprise. Raihan glances at Leon. Leon glances at Raihan and then back to Hop. 

“W-Well, that's,” Leon stutters. His words become ones of panic. “That’s a very good point that I did not think about—” he leans back a little as Raihan stares him down with a smirk.

“Looks like you’re still in debt, Leon,” the dragon type trainer grins. He gently releases Hop and slowly starts approaching Leon, making the champion scoot back.

“N-No! Raihan!” Leon giggles and puts out a defensive hand, but his efforts are in vain as Raihan dives at Leon, tackling him to the floor, and starts clawing into the champion’s ribs. Instantaneously, Leon yelps and breaks into laughter as he gets a taste of his own medicine. He shoves and tries to wrestle Raihan’s hands away in a desperate attempt to flee, but Raihan clearly has the leverage against the champion.

“Raihahahahahan!” Leon throws his head back with laughter, his purple hair becoming flattened underneath him like a backdrop. “Thihihis isn’t fahahair!” 

“Hey, don’t get mad with me,” Raihan says, “I’m just the banker trying to collect debt. Right, Hop?” He looks towards the younger trainer.

Hop sits back on his arms as he watches the delivery of his brother’s payback. He has a bright smile and nods, “Right, Raihan!”

“Unless, of course, you want to pay the original fine in its intended way?” the dragon trainer mentions to the giggling champion. He adds on to the ‘persuasion’ by scratching a clawed hand at Leon’s tummy, causing his friend to kick out his legs with a jolt.

“Okahahahay!” Leon playfully yells through his laughter. “Fihihihine! I’ll pahahahay it! Nohohow get off mehehehe!” the champion surrenders.

As requested, Raihan halts his debt collecting strategy, then moves back to his original spot around the gameboard. Leon sits himself up, his body nearly limp with exhaustion. Once he takes a moment to regain his bearings, Leon checks his pile of multicolored board game money and hands Hop a beige pokedollar bill with a value of one hundred.

Hop happily takes the false money, “Thank you. A pleasure doing business with you.” He places the bill in his own stack.

Leon chuckles. “Alright, who’s turn is it now?”

“Mine,” Raihan says. He looks up as his two competitors. “And don’t you even think about using the tickle tax on me. I’ll just get you back,” Raihan ends his sentence with a fanged grin to show that there's truth to his statement.

Leon and Hop laugh in understanding. They then return to where they left off in their board game, giggling and making lighthearted banter with each other as they play on the floor of Hop’s bedroom.

Had a panic attack at work yesterday and now it’s got me wondering how certain characters would react to their s/o having a panic attack. So could I get some headcanons for the submas bros, piers, and Raihan?

Maybe the s/o has a Pokémon like an absol or a ninetails(either variant both are wonderful) that is trained to sense when an attack will happen and usher them to a safe spot for when it happens?

- the subway station has several safe rooms, scattered across each station.

- What he wasn’t expecting was to be greeted by your Ninetails. The Pokémon snuck up on him, tugging at his pants and nudging him towards one of the safe rooms.

- The fire type didn’t have to try hard, Ingo was already running just realizing they were yours.

- Only slowing down once to the room, it’s so much quieter here, and dimmer too.

- And there you sat, shaking and taking quick breathes.

- Ingo is quick to act, him and your ninetails working in sync together. Ninetails quickly snapping you back to reality, nudging you and laying their head on you, grounding you before Ingo steps in.

- “Dear, may I get close?”

- Your breaths are shaky, and look on the verge of tears, but you nod and raise a hand to bring him closer.

- Ingo instantly at your side. He takes off his work coat, and wraps it around you before sitting next to you.

- You lay your head on his shoulder, and he wraps an arm around you. Rubbing soothing circles and speaking to you as softly as he can.

- Talking about anything just to keep your mind occupied with him, and his words, and not about your panic.

- He radios Emmet, telling him the situation and that he will be in this safe room, with you, until you better.

- your absol, to Emmet, is a blessing. Always knowing before you even know, and if in the subway, always rushing to Emmet.

- The two can usually be seen running at top speeds through crowds, just to get to you before your anxiety picks up.

- They always make it just in time, and get you into the office before you become so overwhelmed.

- Absol on one side of you, nuzzling against you arm or lap. Then on the other side of you is Emmet, nuzzling his face against your neck, humming and kissing you.

- They stay there, comforting you until the tears and shaking have stopped, and your breathing has slowed.

- “I’ve got you darling! I’m right here.”

- You get the neediest comfort there is, as Emmet makes jokes to get you to smile or laugh.

- Or he just pulls you to his lap, cuddling you until you say you’re fine and can leave the office.

- He’s smothering you with affection, until you’re ready to go.

- Your Absol and him are a team, your anxiety and panic attacks are no match for them.

- Just as your heart picks up, and your body starts to freeze up.

- There he is, and your Absol.

- Both takin you to somewhere calmer, and safer. Piers speaks to you the entire time, his voice low, and soft, so soothingly to you.

- He talks about his music, guitar types and history, and things he knows you like, just to calm you.

- Absol lays across your lap like a weighted blanket, while Piers’s jacket is over you, and he tells you funny stories of him and his Obstagoon when they were young.

- He just wants to keep your mind filled with things, that isn’t about anything bad you’re feeling.

- Once you seem to have calmed down enough, he asks how you’re doing.

- “We can stay here as long as you’d like, don’t worry about it.”

- He’s in no rush, and your comfort is his top priority.

- He will be damned if he leaves you.

How about them with an s/o who's older brother is Guzma! They never joined team skull because he is protective as hell, but their association with team skull is still heavily looked down upon. (They love their big brother and are really proud of how strong of a trainer that he is!!) But still, after losing a couple jobs or something because of it they don't mention it unless it's need to know.

Just curious how you think those two would react to finding out that a short, shy, and geeky/nerdy reader (who is TERRIFIED of bugs) is the younger sibling of the big bad team skull boss. (How they find out is up to you too, by chance, s/o tells them, the league finds out the two are dating and thinks it's bad for publicity, whatever!)

Leon wants to meet your family really badly. You don't ever talk about your parents, but he knows you have a brother, one still back in Alola, that you love very much. You're always talking about how strong of a trainer he is, and how he took care of you when you were both little, before you moved to Galar to pursue a career. Leon knows you really look up to your brother, so he wants to meet him, introduce himself and let your brother know he plans to take care of you, just like your brother did

He manages to convince you (as well as the league) to allow him to accompany you to Alola for a vacation. He's excited, but Leon can see the nerves that plague you whenever he brings up your brother. He doesn't understand why, but some prodding has you admitting your bro isn't the best with meeting people, especially your partners. Leon assures you that it's okay, he's good with people, but you don't look convinced.

Leon understands why when you meet your brother in Po Town on Ula'ula Island. You tackle a man that's surrounded by young kids dressed like gangsters and a woman that looks ready to rip a head off. They all swarm you, but the tallest, your brother, stays leaning against your back, arm casually around your neck. You're smiling, so Leon chooses to approach, and wave when everyone looks at him

Guzma immediately snarls, and snarks at Leon for dating his little sibling. Leon takes it all in stride, though, being so sunny and cheerful that Guzma can't keep it up. It doesn't help that the grunts all recognize that he's Champion Leon, and immediately start to go nuts over the fact their Boss' Sibling is dating a Champion

Leon isn't perturbed about Guzma's sour attitude, nor by the fact that he used to be a leader of Team Skull. You've told him so much about your brother, and the things he did to make sure outcast kids like you both had somewhere safe to be. Leon knows that Guzma is a good guy deep down, so he keeps trying to bond with Guzma, eventually wearing him down into being friendlier by enthusing about Guzma's bug types, to your chagrin. At least they're getting along now?

Raihan:

Raihan, being a little more prevalent on social media than his buddy Leon, knows immediately who your brother is when you mention his name. Well, he has a clue, but you confirm it when he asks. Raihan soothes your worries about him leaving you because your brother used to run Team Skull. He listens to you tell him about why Guzma took in all these kids, and he agrees that while Guzma's choices might not have been the best ones to make, he did it with good intentions for those he cared about, you included

You're not as hesitant to have Raihan meet Guzma after he takes all of this in stride. You invite your brother to Galar for a visit, excited to see him again and show him around, have him meet Raihan. Raihan is excited too, happy to meet your family, especially someone so important to you. He wants to make a good impression, even if he knows Guzma will be snarky at first

And Guzma sure is. He barks mean things at Raihan, since he's dating you, but Raihan just gives it right back. The two bicker, Guzma getting worked up while Raihan just smiles and towers over your brother, the one used to being taller. After some tense silence, Guzma tells you that you sure can pick 'em when it comes to partners. It's the closest thing to approval you're going to get, so you happily take it, excited to start hanging out again

The three of you have fun going around Galar and exploring all it has to offer. Guzma wants to hunt some bug types not native to Alola, and Raihan happily shows him where to find Joltiks to obsess over, since they're similar to his Spinaraks. In return, Guzma tells Raihan embarrassing stories about you as a kid. You mourn your reputation as Raihan laughs his ass off and tells Guzma some stories about you in return, but at least they're getting along

Sadly, the League does catch wind of you being related to Guzma, and throws a fit over the information. Raihan has to do a lot of damage control alongside Leon and some other gym leaders, including Nanu from Alola, who agrees that Guzma and Team Skull are not a threat and you pose no harm to anyone, nor does anyone associated with Team Skull, now that they disbanded. They're kids without the support they need, and Raihan will be damned if he lets them and you suffer because the bigwigs are too snobby to realize not everyone is born with a sivler spoon in their mouths

After you retired from being the champion of Kalos you decided to travel around Galar

Of course, you decided to bring your beloved Delphox and the rest of your champion team with you

Delphox has been protective of you ever since you became the champion at such a young age

Especially when you turned 20 since you got a lot of flirting from some fans

But when you were exploring Galar with mainly Leon you had Delphox out and walking with you

She likes Leon and his Charizard and didn’t see Leon trying to be you and just trying to be your friend

Her attitude changed when you got to Hammrlocke to officially meet Raihan

Raihan was waiting outside the stadium for you all and once he saw you he thought you were cute

Delphox didn’t like that he was explicitly flirting with you

Marnie liked you a lot. Ever since you two had a fierce showdown with each other, she was astonished by your battling skills, so much so that she actually introduced you to her older brother when she caught him on the street in Spikemuth. 'A great trainer', she told him, which made you raise your shoulders in slight embarrassment.

Piers, on the other hand, seemed quite indifferent towards you. The first time you appeared in front of him, even after a partially energetic shower of Marnie's compliments, he simply cocked an eyebrow and smiled for himself, shaking his head accompanied by a click of the tongue.

You couldn't exactly figure out what the small smirk was for nor whether it indicated something good or bad. Most of the time in media, Piers looked tired overall and not very thrilled to hold all those tiring and monotonous conversations over and over. That was Raihan and Leon's job. If Piers himself is concerned, simply give him a stage, a microphone and an excited, loud audience, and he'll leave a lasting, truly unforgettable impression.

"Alright, I get it, she's eager for you to battle me. Bring it on, then!", he exclaimed, taking a more confident stance.

You weren't afraid of losing, it was just his aura of fame that held you back a considerable amount, enough to barely say anything in fear that you'd stutter.

Observing him a bit from afar in the midst of a heated battle, you let yourself get distracted enough by his sharp, determined gaze and the way he furrows his eyebrows, that you lost quicker than you otherwise would. He noticed, but didn't point it out verbally, just tilted his head to the side slightly, giving you a look you couldn't exactly decipher.

Whether it was disappointment, curiosity or something else, you couldn't tell, and it had been bothering you for a couple of days, fearing that you ended up being a foolish challenger.

To your surprise, your phone rang while you were sitting at a half empty café that evening, enjoying some treats and drinks with your partner Pokémon.

Marnie's name was shown on screen, and your pleasant mood was instantly enhanced.

"Hey, Marnie! What's up?", you smiled, adoring the fact you were somebody that a young trainer looked up to.

"Hey. It's Piers, actually", his contrasting deeper voice made you flinch for a moment, earning you a concerned look from one of your Pokémon, "Marnie can't stop talkin' about you, so I figured I might as well ask whether you're free", he sighed.

"Oh… That's, um, nice of you. Are you sure, though?"

"And why you askin'? Think I'm above you or somethin'? Chill out."

Marnie could be heard muttering something quietly in the background, amused by her brother's mild annoyance.

"Ah", you fumbled for words, fairly distracted by his low, husky tone, "Marnie isn't coming?"

Piers paused for a second, before catching on your bashfulness, earning you a chuckle:

"Right, I wasn't clear enough. I'm not callin' because of her, it's, would you believe, me who wants to get to know you."

Your face bloomed three shades of red. Being asked out by a musician you liked after meeting him once seemed unrealistic, like a joke even, and it made you wonder whether he was sincere or just rolling along with one of Marnie's antics.

However, she didn't seem like the type to pull those off at such random times, or at all, for that matter.

"Yeah, I was… curious about you too, now that we're saying this freely. I'm glad you've called", you smiled with an audible, giggly exhale, your hand shaking, spilling a little bit of coffee on the table, "Currently I'm at a cozy place in Hammerlocke, but if you'd rather-"

"Yeah, I know which one, be right there", he cut you off, then hung up quickly. That took you so off guard that you were left with your phone pressed to your tingling ear for at least another half a minute, until Impidimp tugged at your sleeve, promptly bringing you back to the present moment, the crinkling of glasses and hushed chatter.

Soon enough, he did show up, putting the key to his motorbike away in his jacket pocket. He flicked his head at you, as well as lazily putting his hand up in a greeting while strolling towards your table.

He sighed and sat down across from you, at first glance seemingly bothered by even being there. Despite that initial front, he actually appeared more or less relaxed, gaze darting left and right in admiration of the pleasant and vibrant surroundings.

"Cute fella", he initiated conversation, indulging Impidimp with a pet on the head which it enjoyed immensely.

"Thank you. I've caught him relatively recently, I think a bit over a month ago. He's been a great help, and an even better friend", you smiled, offering it a tea biscuit, then looked back at Piers who had just ordered a drink, "I'm surprised you wanted to meet up so fast."

"Busy for the rest of the week", he explained, propping his face up with his hand, "Couldn't miss the chance to ask why you haven't gone all out against me today. Missed opportunity to show off your skills to their full extent."

That was the question you feared would come up sooner or later, but not that early!

"I… was distracted", you admitted, steering away from elaborating by being upfront but vague.

"Tell me somethin' I don't know", luckily, he took the hint, "Next time watch out for that. Wouldn't want to be let down twice", he flicked his cup out of boredom, continuing to fidget with packets of sugar afterwards.

Piers blew some hair out of his face, not waiting nor expecting for the discussion to carry on from there. He sounded like he would bombard you with a myriad of questions after he'd arrive, so did he change his mind somewhere along the way?

You decided to shoot your shot:

"What's it like… being on the famous side? Does the attention bother you at all?"

"Only when journalists are too persistent. Other people are nicer about it than it may appear", he took a slow sip, appreciating the taste, hence losing the last bit of hostility on his face, some of which you might've even imagined.

"That's good! I'm actually glad you have space to breathe…"

"And you?"

"Hm?"

"Where did you come from?", he didn't put the edge of his cup away from his lips, gently blowing to cool down the tea, a little act you found absolutely sugary sweet adorable.

You put the back of your hand over your mouth diffidently, trying to politely lock gazes with him, but every time you'd try to, your eyes would sheepishly drop down to your lap.

"Nowhere special, really. An overly confident and ambitious trainer I'd say. I have been trying to think of ways to turn some of my hobbies into jobs, but I'm yet to make up a plan that holds up, so for now, I'm just doing whatever I come across", you explained, hoping he wasn't let down by your insignificant background.

"Tryin' your best is always good no matter the situation. I've been tellin' that to my little sis as well. Hope you'll stay a good role model for her. Well, really, you better", he snickered.

You smiled.

The following few minutes were mostly spent in somewhat awkward silence. Here and there you'd exchange a couple of words just so that it wouldn't be painfully obvious you were struggling.

Realization soon hit on a conscious level - you were crushing really hard.

"Wanna go for a ride?", Piers asked abruptly, derailing your train of thought.

His confidence charmed you enough for you to immediately blurt out an agreement.

You reached out for your wallet, but his raised hand stopped you.

"Don't worry about it", he added, "Save that for next time."

Next time? There will be a next time? Your flushed expression gave your bewilderment away, visible even under dim lighting.

Of course, Piers noted it, but this time flashed you a tired smirk as feedback.

"Anywhere you'd want to go?", your bubbly tone tickled his ears.

"Nah, aimless drivin' is more my thing."

He offered you his hand. That was one among many other gestures you weren't properly prepared for. If that man had a set goal in mind, that must've been making you explode. He was succeeding at a rapid pace, and there was nothing you could do about it other than accept the bliss you weren't able to hide anymore.

"Relax, all's g-", your fingers intertwined with his. If you're holding hands, might as well go all the way. "…Huh. Bold. I like that."

"Will you lead the way?"

"Now I have no other choice", he joked in a surprisingly flat tone, making you laugh in response. "Let's go, then. There's actually a place I'd like to show you. Marnie likes when I take her stargazing there. You'll have something interesting to tell her about tomorrow, assuming she'll be asleep when we come home tonight."

"We??", you exclaimed, a bit louder than you wanted to.

He motioned at your linked hands with his head:

"Did I assume wrong?"

Your mouth hung slightly open. Read like a good book.
